Right now, the fan casting is still a work in progress, as I am working on fleshing out some of the characters as the story goes by.

CW because I have to: This fic is from a queer angle. Brandon is uncovering that part of the trauma of his sex addiction comes from repressing queer attractions with his very real and valid straight ones. There will also be memories of abuse from his father to him and Sissy although the abuse was not sexual. In Brandon’s case, however, it is homophobic and biphobic.

Synopsis: The fic events happen five years after the event of the original Shame.

Brandon Sullivan is the successful Associate Director of Spectre and a recovering sex addict who is still coming to terms with trauma from his father and fear of intimacy. Brandon has also formed three meaningful friendships outside of work that have helped keep him grounded. But when Esteban Izquierdo, the new Venezuelan-American co-associate director is hired, he forms a relationship with Brandon that goes beyond the professional and will make Brandon see everything he knows in a new light. Esteban himself will have to face his own demons too.

Characters from the original Shame (meaning, not mine):

James Dale Badge as David Fisher. Brandon’s boss and the director of Spectre Consulting. Divorced and only a little more humble at times than before. He has a secret.

Nicole Beharie as Marianne. The colleague Brandon attempted to date.

Carey Mulligan as Sissy Sullivan. She will appear later. Sissy is now married, living in Los Angeles, which left Brandon with more pain to deal with, but who will visit him. Still working on casting her husband.

And of course, Michael Fassbender as Brandon Sullivan, now a recovering sex addict still struggling with other traumas and coming to terms with his sexuality. Although more sporadically, he has engaged in sex with both men and women, but rationalises his sex with men until Esteban reveals parts of himself that Brandon might have in common.

MY ORIGINAL CHARACTERS (still a work in progress)

Pedro Pascal as Esteban Izquierdo, a Venezuelan-born American who enters Spectre Consulting as an associate director, not knowing that he and Brandon will have an effect in each other’s lives in more ways than the professional. Esteban is charismatic, intelligent, bisexual and proud of it.

Edgar Ramirez as Ale Martinez, a mutual friend of Brandon’s and Esteban’s who is also from Venezuela. He becomes a close friend of Brandon after Brandon confides his hurt for Sissy moving to Los Angeles. He is gay and meets Brandon on a date that did not go as planned, but got Brandon a good friend instead.

Wagner Moura as Joao. Half of a couple that are friends with Ale and form a friendship with Brandon after Ale introduces them. (Work in Progress fleshing out, if needed).

Cristina Chang as Tina; the other half of the couple who Brandon meets through Ale and forms friendship with. (Work in progress fleshing out if needed).

Matthew Goode as Simon. Esteban’s best friend in New York. British, but whose accent switches to New Yorker with ease; happily married to a woman and openly bisexual. Still fleshing out and still working on casting his wife.

Deepika Padukone (in photos only) as Malini, the woman Esteban almost married, but couldn’t due to her sudden death.
