Tumblr media
Dark Prince Endymion: 90's anime

Flirts with Sailor Moon
Doesn't recognize Usagi
The only thing he knows is being Prince Endymion
Going after the rainbow crystals
Black turtle neck and sunglasses
Black roses
No powers. Just uses his palms and a sword.
Also transforms into Tuxedo Mask
Tumblr media
Prince Endymion:
Pretty much the same in all versions.
90s throws roses and wears the Tuxedo Mask attire
Protective of Serenity
Ally to the Silver Millenium when the Earth's people attack
Very affectionate to Serenity
Sacrifices himself to save Serenity's life
Tumblr media
I did this because I wanted to give appreciation to all sides of Mamoru Chiba. For as much as I may criticize the 90s anime, that Mamoru is equally as likeable and charming as manga/crystal. Plus manga Mamo isn't perfect either. Cuz where 90s Mamo is a little cold to Usa sometimes and doesn't always make the best decisions, Manga Mamo has incredibly low self esteem and keeps things from Usa so she isn't worried. They've both got their strengths and weaknesses!
TLDR: I love Mamoru Chiba a totally normal amount.

Metallic Sailor Sun (Osaka Naru)
Osaka Naru never gained this form until the 30th century, but, In her past life in the Golden Kingdom in the era of the Silver Milennium Moon Kingdom, she was "Princess Osakaite", Beryl's secret daughter. She regained that dark form in Crystal Tokyo, trying to revive the Shitennou before being drawn into battle against her estranged best friend Usagi.
She is directly linked to Queen Metallia, and never became Sailor Sun in her past life; to do so is apocalypse-adjacent, a little like the "Messiah of Silence" Sailor Saturn who has a connection with Pharaoh 90. In her past life, Osakaite willingly sealed up her powers (with the help of the Shitennou) in an attempt to prevent the destruction of SilMil and the Golden Kingdom; but she was killed by the DD Girls, and soon afterwards both kingdoms fell anyway.
The seal wasn't perfect, which is my headcanon for why she canonically glows red in episode 23 when protecting Nephrite from the moon tiara- her sealed powers are trying (and failing) to emerge...
In the 30th century she's finally able to become a Sailor Soldier for the first time with the help of Usagi and Helios (who guards a part of the sun's power in Elysion), and she acts as a counterpart with Eternal Sailor Moon!
Her costume parallels Eternal Sailor Moon's,, although the black parts represent the sealed Queen Metalia, and a balance between Cosmos and Chaos. She also has the same style of shoulder epaulets as the Golden Kingdom form of Sir Nephrite, and her collar and fuku resemble the piping of a Shitennou uniform, representing her connection between the Earth and the Moon.
However, she still looks up to Usagi, who is ultimately the main heroine of the setting- but the estranged friends are finally reunited as partners, working together to try to save the universe at the end of time.
She can use "Sun Orbital Attraction" to telekinetically pull or push things in a circle around her (turns out attracting monsters was an actual power all along XD). This power may also work on the solar senshi for coordination maneuvers...?
Her staff is the same crystal ball staff Beryl used in the 90s anime (Beryl's own staff is the pointy one from the manga/crystal, and in one random scene of the anime), but in it's purified form it's revealed to be the "Sun Stick"!
With the Sun Stick she can use "Sun Healing Energization", which doesn't purify things like Sailor Moon, but can physically heal people by willingly giving them some of her own energy (which she also kinda halfway did in episode 19 by suddenly giving the surrpised "Tuxedo Nephrite" her energy).
If I stick to my guns and keep this in continuity with my previous 512TR(ans) comic, then Naru may secretly have been a transgender girl all along, and thus mistakenly thought she could never be a real sailor soldier... but Usagi and the senshi tell her she's just as much of a real girl as any of them 🏳️‍⚧️
By the way, there's also a beautiful and awesome webcomic being made by JKellicu on ComicFury about Naru becoming Sailor Earth. Although my approach is different, I consider Sailor Earth a major inspiration and I love it! If Naru-as-a-senshi stories interest you, hers is a must-read!:

Different possibilities of future Sera Myu
Since it is the 30th of June, Usagi's birthday, I thought I might finally post this thing that has been in my drafts for some months lol
Tumblr media
Let's go!
So ever since the end of Musical Festival Chronicle, I've been thinking about what would be the next Sera Myu we get? During the Senshuuraku of Chronicle, Riko mentioned that when Kaguya-hime no Koibito ended, they weren't sure if Sera Myu would continue so most likely the same thing applies now. It might be possible Myu might end but we had Super Live this year so there are chances. Many might think that since the Crystal series finally comes to an end, so does anything else related to Sailor Moon, but it is very much certain that they will keep pushing out merch as it has been very profitable so far and even the Sailor Moon Museum announced that it will reopen in 2024 so there might be more musicals just like back in the day! Although we still haven't gotten any news regarding it and I for sure thought we would get some new info today... ANYWAY we have gone through all the main 5 arcs, one short story and one original so what next? I have a few ideas. (check terms at the end of the post if confused)
1) Third installment in the Snow Kaguya series
For me, it didn't really seem like Snow Kaguya was fully defeated in Chronicle, as she was defeated in the same way as she was in KHnK so it feels super random that she would be defeated NOW so maybe they could do one more musical to finally defeat Princess Snow Kaguya (maybe as Eternal Sailor Moon)
2) Something completely new
It could be possible we might get something completely new and original. Who knows? lol
3) R movie or SuperS movie
Ever since KHnK, people have been wondering if the other two movies would be made into a musical, although KHnK bore no resemblance to the movie as it pretty much followed the manga short story to the T, it is still possible that the other two movies will be made into musicals.
4) Another Story musical
ah the forgotten gem in the SM universe. I really love Another Story and I wish it would get more recognition. And since they are going with the Super/Mugen arc theme as KHnK takes place around that time and Another Story is supposed to take place after the Mugen arc so it could be a possibility. How it works in action is kinda ? as Another Story featured every major villain from Dark Kingdom arc to Mugen arc but they could focus it on the Oppositio Senshi and Apsu. It also would be cool if previous Senshi actors would return as the Oppositio Senshi (for example, AE Inners)
5) Kaguya Shima Densetsu/Snow Kaguya hybrid
So this is kind of similiar to my #1 idea but I feel like this needed to be its own thing. It could be possible that they'd fuse these two stories into one where Snow Kaguya replaces Dark Plasman and she is somehow connected to Kaguya Island since they have the same name(although she was given that name by Kakeru but who knows. Myulore tends to be confusing sometimes lol). And the reason for this is that I think that we will not get Kaguya Shima Densetsu remade and I will get to that soon
6) The Dracul series remake
I have my doubts about this since the Dracul series tends to be kinda confusing and since it's a story that requires all 3/4 musicals to be watched and that all to happen in the span of 3 years would be kinda hard to follow (during BanMyu it only took about a year and a half as they did multiple musicals in the span of one year but now they are doing only one musical a year, not counting Super Live). And the 4 musicals had way too many plot points in them so it would be fairly impossible to put that all in one musical. Also, it had kinda dark stuff in it so not sure if it would be allowed to be performed in this day and age lmao. (But I actually had a dream some time ago that Sayaka Okamura(Snow Kaguya) sang Muma no Oodri as Death Lamia so yeah lol)
7) Sailor V musical
I think the best point for a Sailor V musical would have been in 2018 after LMF as the main story has ended and the cast at the time had had their "graduation". So as much as I want a Sailor V musical I do not really see them doing it now when they have a cast of all the Senshi (unless they decide to do multiple musicals a year)
8) Kaguya Shima Densetsu remake
I do not see this happening as of now cause I just cannot see Dark Plasman played by a woman. I do not mean this with the intent to hurt anyone's feelings or to attack those who are fans of the all-female cast. It's just that Dark Plasman has such a deep voice that I just don't think it would be possible, or if they did, I think I would personally not enjoy it. I mean, if there is someone who has a deep voice like that, I would be happy to see it, but it just seems kinda unlikely as the deepest voice we have had in NewMyu this far are Syu Shiotsuki (UNV-LMF Sailor Uranus) and Kei Oogi (UNV Kaolinite). So unless they return to the mixed cast they had in BanMyu I do not see Kaguya Shima Densetsu happening in its original form in any way in the near future.
9) Other side stories
This is kinda random but maybe they could make musicals from other side stories. This seems very unlikely tho as the other side stories are a lot shorter and KHnK (unless they decide to make the Exam Battles into one musical or something idk) Demon Tree arc is also a possibility
10) NogiMyu R
Don't really see this happening as it has been quite a long time since the previous NogiMyu (although Super Live made a comeback so who knows). The only things to support this are the facts that at the end of NogiMyu they teased us with the Black Moon arc and ever since then it's been a possibility. Also on the Official Sailor Moon website, NogiMyu is still listed in the "Stage" section even after all this time so maybe they could be planning something with it. But if NogiMyu does make a comeback, I hope they do not do the DK arc AGAIN.
So there are many possibilities but will any of them come true? Who knows lol
Terms
KHnK: Kaguya-hime no Koibito musical from 2021
AE: Amour Eternal, musical from 2016 based on the SuperS/Dream/Yume arc
BanMyu: Sailor Moon musicals made by Bandai 1993-2005
UNV: Un Nouveau Voyage, musical from 2015 based on the Super/Infinity/Mugen arc
LMF: Le Mouvement Final, musical from 2017 based on the Stars arc
NewMyu: "new" Sailor Moon musicals by Nelke 2013-2017/2023 (some consider NewMyu to be only the five musicals of the first five arcs but some consider since 2013 to be part of NewMyu)
NogiMyu: Nogizaka46 Sailor Moon musical from 2018-2019 based on the Dark Kingdom arc

I know I’m beating a long dead horse with this, but it came up again in a you tube video released couple of days ago
and it has gotten to a point of no return so here’s my input as an animator (my daily job)
sailor moon crystal 1  and 2, do not have a horrible animation whatsoever, in fact crystal 2 is the best animation sailor moon ever had in it’s history including the recent movies with big money budgets and lonnnnnnng periods in the making.
first lets address the elephant in the room
ART STYLE =/= animation
screencap of a single frame of a 24fps animated sequence =/= animation
slow detailed animation =/= bad animation
MANIPULATING said screencap frame to look worse than it is(a.k.a stretching the image to prove a non existent point) =/= bad animation
example from s01ep08 net release:
Tumblr media
this is the actual screencap of that well known giant head “screencap” some crystal hating blogs here have made you to believe.
the meme face from episode 3 has been fixed, and while the episode 3 IS the one with the most noticeable without pausing mistakes, it’s just few scenes not the entire thing. (and both the meme face and the rei face are from that ep)
and the reason of that episode being particularly bad has been explained by an animator: basically Toei gave them the last fixes 3 days before release, and if you know anything about animation you know that 3 days are not NEARLY enough to get animation for 25 minutes + rendering, and post production things.
beyond that one episode, and after they got TV money (around ep 8 it was announces that s2 will be on tv) the animation quality raised significantly to the point of crystal 2 being flawless.
another thing that separates crystal 1-2 from crystal 3, eternal, and the 90s anime is that they do not use copypasta animation outside of the VERY FEW transformation sequences.
in crystal 3 for example you have both long transformations each episodes, and the attacks being copy pasta. I wont even touch on the 90s because about 30% of the episode back then was a repeat animation lol.
on top of not having copypasta, crystal 1-2 had a lot mot animation time, as it included at the beginning and end of every episode new animation, unlike crystal 3 that it had a reduced time due to copy pasta all transformations/attacks, + at the beginning it was a summary of previous ep.
crystal 1-2 was harder to animate because it was more detailed, and they had so many hair flowing animations, while crystal 3 had a simplified moe art style that was easier to animate, but very generic. and still had animation hiccups all over the place. it was just that once the haters got the crystal 1-2 animators fired, and got their moe bs artstyle they stopped tearing it apart frame by frame, so the general public doesn’t know that the animation is worst.
now with all that out of the way, there is one thing that infuriates me to no end
talking bad about the animators
Toei is trash and cheap we all know that, but just because they look for cheaper labour in other counties doesn’t make the animators in those countries “talentless” “lazy“ “bad” or anything else that has come to their way because of few hiccups in ONE episodes of an anime series.
it is extremely condescending to assume that just because animators in less fortunate countries have a cheaper labour, that means they are bad.
in a recent project of creating a 25 seconds animation for a commercial, that took me a week to make, and I was paid 600euros for it. If the client had not outsourced it in my country and had it made in the US where his company is, it would have been double or triple the price or more. does that make my job bad, or make me lazy, or do I suck? because my income is lower than most west europeans/americans in my field?
I’m sure an animator in the Philippines who was to make the exact same animation as me, would have been paid even less than me, because of how their economy works. but it wouldn;t make their work any less good!
all in all
crystal 1-2 was never badly animated,
if you dont know how many long hours animators have to work shut your mouth really. especially the lazy accusation is the biggest bs ever.

My Review of Bibliophile Princess
Tumblr media
How did I get into this anime? I think I was in the need for some romance during the fall 2022 season. No offense to that season of anime, but not everything has to involve testosterone, blood, and chainsaws.
Tumblr media
Elianna Bernstein comes from a family that loves books. The family would forego food for just one more book to read. Elianna is pretty much that. She has no interest in anything else. What do you think would happen if a prince asks for her to be his fiancé? First of all, huh?!
Tumblr media
As it turns out, Elianna comes from a family with some nobility. Crown Prince Christopher Selkirk Asherald wants Elianna to be his fiancé…in name only. Chris has no intention of getting married so early like what his parents want for him. He thinks if he gets a phony fiancé and every so often pushes the wedding date away, he’ll get them off his back. Prince Chris entices Elianna with giving her all the free time in the world to read the rarest books only meant for those of highest nobility. For the next four years, Elianna spent her time mostly reading but getting to know the people around her ‘fiancé's’ inner circle.
Tumblr media
Good things do have to come to an end. It seems as though the prince might have intentions with another woman. Is this the end of Elianna’s weird fairy tale? And why should she care? She only cares about reading and nothing else. Unless she’s grown to like, even love Prince Chris. But does this possible love go both ways?
BETWEEN THE SUB AND THE DUB: Sentai Filmworks nabbed this one. Whether they decide to do something more with this or not is up to them. It’s not like they had a lot going on back in October. Nowadays, Sentai’s got its own cash-cow to milk. So, chances are it’ll be a while before we see this anime get anything other than a proper home release. I gotta say in the first episode, I thought that was Mamiko Noto voicing Elianna. But then I saw that it was Reina Ueda and I’m like, never mind, that was an honest mistake. Still good work! Here’s what you might recognize these folks from.
*Elianna is played by Reina Ueda (known for Mallow on Pokemon SM, Kisa on Fruits Basket 2019, Kanao on Demon Slayer, CereCere on Sailor Moon Crystal: Eternal, Jasminka on Little Witch Academia, and Young Hideyoshi on Tokyo Ghoul)
*Chris is played by Ryouhei Himura (known for Hinata on Angel Beats, Takizawa on Eden of the East, Kohaku on Yashahime, Grey on Black Butler, Shouma on Penguindrum, Tsubasa on Rinne, and Hiyori on Free!)
SHIPPING: Boy, anime really loves to give us fake-ass relationships these days. Either coincidence or Japan hopping on this trope’s bandwagon, 2022 had a lot of animes with that concept.
Tumblr media
We get confirmation early in the series that both Prince Chris and Elianna have some (though awkward) feelings for one another. After living with the prince for 4 years, we see Elianna’s fear of this engagement ending. But was it because she will no longer have access to the rare books she’s yearned to read or is it that she really has feelings for the charming prince? As for the prince, Chris seems to have history with Elianna when they were younger. Elianna scolded the young prince for the mistreatment of a book. After that, they spent time with each other in the library.
Tumblr media
Chris remembers. Elianna does not!
After Chris cemented this relationship by declaring there were no more objectors to the marriage, he started showing more affection to Elianna. And I gotta say, it started playing off like one of those rom-com sim games. You get that cute shoujo male and the cute, blushing girlfriend. It constantly felt like that. And when it wasn’t feeling like that, it was feeling like a setup for an old Popeye cartoon. Elianna gets in more trouble than Olive Oyl, no lie!
Tumblr media
Now, there were other women in the picture that Elianna felt threatened by. It’s really nothing more than Elianna’s imagination getting the best of her. The prince really loves her and no other girl will do.
Tumblr media
ENDING: You would think that after all that has gone down in the past 10 episodes, Elianna would see that Christopher is genuine when he only wants to be with her. Okay, maybe not. Hell, I would have been hella sus if I were in Eli’s shoes. Elianna has had to endure a lot of hearsay behind her back. Add to that, Elianna’s overall worry if she’s worthy of being the wife of a crowned prince. Girl, you have won over nearly everyone in that palace by episode 3, including the queen. Accept this as a win.
Tumblr media
But a few daggers are out in plain-sight trying to set the soon-to-be-princess up. There are some women who hate Elianna so they do things out of pure vanity. You know them, catty bitches! But then you keep seeing this one chick named Sharon who keeps insisting to Chris to marry her sister Mirielle. We keep hearing about this woman but we don’t even see her. So naturally Elianna is concerned about everything. But then this thing about concubines comes up. It’s quite the norm for the royal family to have mistresses, concubines, etc. This family is no exception to that dirty little secret. Let’s just say that the concubine talk was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Elianna told Chris that to once again postpone the wedding and runs off. No matter what, Chris always comes to Elianna’s aid whenever she gets in an altercation. At the end of the episode 11, Elianna expressed her worry to Chris and asked him to make a promise to be loyal to her only. Chris makes it clear that Elianna is the only one for him.
Tumblr media
Okay, final episode time. Is this the episode where Elianna and Chris finally get married? Nah, we’re getting this Holy Night Banquet. We still get some certain instigator wanting to push Elianna away. And it’s that Sharon chick that I mentioned prior. She even dangled a rare book in front of Elianna to entice her of giving up her fiancé. Episode 1 Elianna wouldn’t hesitate pushing some prince out of the way for a rare book. Episode 12 Elianna on the other hand has gone through some things. So yeah, there is no tearing up this couple. No need for affairs, mistresses, or rebound concubines.
Tumblr media
They end with this annual banquet with some good notes for the prince and his soon-to-be-bride. No more objectors. No more sus women after the prince. The monarchy is happy for these soon-to-be newlyweds. The queen however wishes for Elianna to be more wary of suspicious folks and not be taken advantage of or get in too much trouble that would cause a ripple for the family. But she still gets a little choked up being called mother from Elianna. We don’t get a wedding. Just Elianna asking for some vacation time so she can read books. And we end with looking at trees lit up with pretty patterns. It was good timing when I saw it because the finale aired three days before Christmas.
Eh, this was an okay anime. Nothing to write home about. I honestly thought this was going to be one of those animes where the two characters were eventually going to fall in love for real instead of being fake fiancés near the end. As it turns out, Chris unveiled his feelings for Elianna in episode 2 or 3. The rest of the time was Elianna slowly falling in love with the prince with bumps in the road causing her depression and self-doubt. A LOT of self-doubt! There were a lot of characters featured in this anime and most of them do cause hiccups that make Elianna question her relationship with Chris. I honestly don’t remember most of these people. That’s how little of an impact they had.
Eh, it’s a toss up! There are many other romance animes out there I would watch before this one. But it is a short series if you want something small to watch. Hidive has the entire series available for streaming.

Hi, i hope y'all reading this right now are doing well! I have a few things i want to say regarding my blog currently.
1) I will post scenes from Sailor Moon Cosmos but with a spoiler tag until we get an international release (+ probably a little while after international release as well) I know that technically none of these scenes are spoilers because the manga existed for over 25 years (i, myself was one of those people who hated to label Crystal scenes as spoilers during Eternal hype lol) however Cosmos is the big finale we waited for years, the first anime adaptation to actually do the manga justice and overall best anime adaptation of Sailor Moon. I think Cosmos truly deserves the best treatment by fandom wise, and should be experienced in the best way. In case anyone doesn't want to come across spoilers, i'll be using #sailor moon spoilers or #sailor moon cosmos spoilers for a while.
2) As probably most of you are aware (or I hope you are) of the genocide happening in Palestine right now and i'll keep posting sources, information and anything helpful regarding Palestine whenever i'm active till all of this truly come to an end. This might be a fandom blog but i have plenty of followers here and i have to use my platform to spread the current situation of Palestine just like everyone else. It's inhumane to turn your back on a literal genocide which is ignored and further even supported by our governments and i will do the anything i can do. Hope is a big source, and the beginning of most miracles but you could never see what it can do if you give up. Palestinians never gave up for years despite everything they went through even though they are just human like all of us. If they can be strong and hopeful, so can you. Please don't turn your back on Palestine and be the voice of them. Please don't let humanity die.
Thank you for reading and i hope you can understand and do what you can do regarding this 🙏

Is the 90′s anime really the best or that’s just subjective??
So a few weeks back I saw this post saying the 90′s anime is the best which is their opinion. But it got me thinking about somethings and I just wanted to write my own post just to counterargue each point they said with my opinion. So this combination of things I have said before with some new things.
This is long as fuck...
1. The Pacing -I'm sorry but in my opinion the 90's anime pacing is not good on the terms on plot to filler ratio. Which majority of the season is fillers to the point they have to cram in plot before the season finale. To the point it’s so much filler that it really no build up and by time you get to the pay off it’s flat because you spent so much time on monster of the day to even get to the plot.
Also they are so many Filler Gudies out saying which epsidoe is filler and which epsisode is plot.
1.Sailor Moon Classic  46 episodes -31 plot 15 filler
2.Sailor Moon R 43 Episodes - (43 Episodes – With Doom Tree Arc not as Filler :36 plot 7 filler ,With Doom Tree Arc considered as filler: 23 Plot and 20 filler )
3.Sailor Moon S 39 Episodes - 29 plot 10 filler
4.Sailor Moon SuperS 38 episodes -23 plot 15 filler
5.Sailor Moon StarS 34 episodes 25 plot  9 Filler
So in total that’s 200 Episodes =144 Plot 56 Filler (but you Count Doom tree arc as filler it’s 131 plot 69 filler )
Grated it was being animated and made the same time the manga was being written( which they also had deadlines as well) but instead becoming something could work hand and hand with the manga and give certain plotlines time to breathe that Naoko couldn't do since she was press for time, they created filler that didn't help move the plot along and the plot just stops. You can have development for your character but also keep the plot moving. Yes we made have learned something about that character but sometimes it's mention once and never mention again . ( Example in Season 4 when we found out can work on cars which is something that was never mentioned in the first three seasons and then never mentioned again). Once it was episodes dealing with the plot they crammed like a couple acts of plot into one episode.
Example
Season 1
Episode 34 is Act 6 -7 and the end of 8 and the beginning of 9
Episode 33 is the end of Act 7 and the Beginning of Act 8
Episode 35 is Act 9
Episode 36 is Act 11
Episodes 33 -36 is essentially acts 6-9  and 11 cram into four episodes.
Episode 44 is Act 10
I had to throw that with Episode 44  in how we don’t even get full Moon Kingdom backstory on how it actually fell until before the final battle.
It’s even more weirder is this
Act 11 Reunion - Endymion  12/6/1992
Episode 36 Usagi’s Confusion: Is Tuxedo Mask Evil? 12/12/1992
(Got the dates from Sailor Moon Chronology which is here.)
Endymion Act drops on Dec 6th and the next week we got our first episode of Mamo being Evil Endymion..
But we totally skip Act 10 until the last episode before the two episode season finale like I mentioned…
I have to specially talk about Episode 34.
Putting Usagi finding out Mamo is Mask ( End of Act 6), Mamo find out Usagi is Moon ( Act 4), Mamo telling Usagi about his past ( Act 7), Mamo taking a stab for Usagi ( end of 8) and finding out Usagi is the Moon Princess ( beginning of 9) in Episode 34,
Episode 125 is Acts 34-38,
The last 6 episodes of Supers (161-166) being still the first half of Dream arc ( Acts 39-43)
Yes the manga is fast as hell since Naoko was being rushed in which Crystal/Eternal also suffers this because it's going one to one ratio with the manga. PGSM in my opinion have the best pacing because the filler and plot works hand and hand with each other. The plot doesn't go into a stand still if it's a episode that wants to explore a certain character more. The plot is still moving along with getting character development of a character.
Manga pacing being too fast to let things breathe meanwhile the 90′s anime has so many episodes worth of filler that they have to cram like so much plot in one episode.
People can say all they want when it comes to character development but when it comes to plot pacing in the 90′s anime….
The Manga is more Plot Driven which is nothing wrong with that. In which sometimes the Character Development becomes interconnected with the plot. Like if you forget this plot point you may lose some character development ( case in point the Golden Crystal being apart of Mamo’s character development) In which sometimes Yes with so much shit going on with the plot the characters do get lost in the shuffle.
Also that’s the reason the side stories are important becasue you do get that Character development and the girls have time to be silly in those stores. which should have been adapted into crystal to help with the development)
So I see it like this
The Manga- Fast paced but consistent More Plot Driven
90’s anime- Slow paced but not consistent More Character Driven
PGSM - Nice Pace Consistent A Balance of Plot and Character
Also the 90's anime becomes very repetitive to the point that you can make a list of things that will probably happen in a episodes that will probably happen in every episode unless mid season episode where some major plot is about to dropped which a sub-villain is about to be killed or redeemed or the last 5-8 episodes that make up the season finale.
Do a recap of what todays episode is going to be with usually Usagi or Luna doing the voiceover.
The first season episodes start with Usagi introducing herself to the audience  (”Hi My name is Usagi Tuskino ”)
Sub-villain talks the big bad about mission to find the person with the special item of that season ( rainbow crystal, energy ,pure crystal, dream mirror, star seed) The big bad tells the sub-villain not to fail the mission and in which they say they will not. They leave and may say something the Sailor Moon and Senshi keep messing up their plans. If it’s a group a sub-villains ,the other sub-villains who haven’t had a mission yet may come out and taunt the sub-villain who is currently handling the missions and tell them they could do better. The sub-villain sets Naru I mean the victims to be it’s target. The sub-villain goes out in normal clothes to look for their target. Girls are either in school, at the crown or shrine or planning do an activity, study or discussing senshi business to talk about the new enemy. Usagi is either eating, reading manga or not listening, Rei say some mean shit to Usagi, Usagi cries and call Rei mean ,Ami talks about they need to study, Mina is fangirling and scheming about a idol, Makoto says something about that guy being her senpai or about food or plants. Luna tells usagi she needs to be a better leader or do better with her study habits. Usagi and Chibiusa get into it dealing with Mamoru. *insert which Senshi is being focus on which count as “character development”* Bonus points if the victims of day interacts with that senshi and has a particular skill set of dream they want to pursue and the senshi talks to them about it. ( like want to write a book, become a artist, designer, fix a car etc.) Sub-villain disguise themselves in the activity of day( school fair, cherry blossom festival, concert, dance, park) and meets Naru I mean the victim of the day for the first time. *15 mins later* Sub-villain finds Naru I mean their victim again and attack which they pass out after the sub-villain takes what they needed ( insert Energy, Rainbow Crystal of the Seven Great Youma, Pure Heart Crystal, Dream Mirror, Star Seed) A senshi hear the scream and transforms. They do their speech’s to the sub-villain The sub-villiain laugh at them and call their youma out. Usually the sub-villain dips right here or wait until their youma is defeated to dip. Their Youma start attacking the senshi. Usagi ,Chibiusa or Usagi and Chibiusa runs with her or their heads cut off. The other senshi throw their attacks which is not effective.... Somehow Usagi about to get attack by the youma and a rose appears on screen. Mamoru comes out of nowhere ( when some episodes he is not even in them to that point)  saves Usagi ,Chibiusa and the senshi, throws a rose and say a speech. One may throw another attack to weaken the youma.
* Depending of what Senshi is being featured they maybe the one to throw the attack to show their new power and that they believe themselves for a few mins.
* Bonus points it Mina and Makoto have to share a power up episode together because Ami and Rei already got their single episode focusing on them and because they are running out of episodes before the finale Mina/Makoto have to share.
Mamoru or one of the senshi say “ Now Sailor Moon!” Usagi uses whatever rod she have that season with the attack sequence. The youma screams, ( may say refresh) turns to dust and dies. The sub-villain getting defeated again, say something to the Senshi ( Like” This is not the last time you see me Sailor Senshi!” and dips if they haven’t before. The Naru I mean the victim of the day gets whatever the subvillain wanted back and starts to wake up. They either see Sailor Moon or the Senshi or see whatever senshi they was interacting with in that episode. Either their senshi or civilian form. The Usagi and the girls are back in their regular wear. The senshi who is focus for that episode learns something that will forget next episode or will be never mention again. Rei says another mean thing to Usagi and everyone laughs.
End of episode.
Give or take
In which an episode filler in the 90s was like watching an educational show you watch on PBS with a “lesson” you learn each episode.
Like today’s episode you are going to learn about following your dreams.
Today’s lesson you are going to learn that bullying is not nice and it can hurt people..
Today’s lesson you are going to learn about following your heart to love.
Today’s lesson you are going to learn about teamwork and the power of friendship.
Today’s lesson you are going to learn to be considerate of other people feelings, learning to admit you are wrong and apologized.
Today’s lesson you learn about heartbreak and how you friends tell you that the boy you love have his reasons to break up with you and you should still trust him………
Which the next week they forget about that lesson and continue with the same shit they did before that lesson.. Until that lesson is taught again in the next season.
Which makes DiCs inclusion of “Sailor Says” at the end even more iconic since it was on during the wave of Barney… Cause they really did make it educational.
The 90′s anime is more “Character” driven but totally forgets the plot until the last min. The plot gets lost for the the characters but sometimes like I said you need the plot to help farther along the characters.
Like there is nothing wrong with filler if it is used right. Filler can be a wonderful tool to expand certain things like a character or a certain plot more even more.
Like it’s nothing wrong with learning about your characters more if it is used right.
PGSM like I said before did this right and I’m going to use episodes 32- 36 because I think it’s a great example of how PGSM worked.( spoilers)
In 32 you have Mamo coming back which they get together which is pretty huge in the story.
Then you have episodes 33-34 which are kind of filler episodes dealing with Ami and Rei. It’s gives you a moment to breathe ( but not to long) and have major feels about these girls dealing with their parents and making their bond stronger.
Then episode 35 is where the action starts raves back up with Mio and her shit ,Zoi and Mina teams up and that Usa/Mamo plus Mina vs. Jade/Kun fight at the end.
Then when you get to episode 36 all hell breaks loose gangster style. I totally forgot that it was also the episode they Mina told Rei about her illness.
So 32 you are up the hill then 33-34 you are down for a brief min then you are going back up the hill on 35 and you back on the peak of the hill in 36.
If anyone haven’t watched PGSM please do! It does a lot that the Manga didn’t have a time to do and the 90′s anime failed to do.
That’s why I’m hard on the 90′s anime. The 90′s anime could been an prefect tool to expand certain things that Naoko couldn’t get to if they worked hand and hand like I said earlier.
Example
She didn’t get a chance to fully talk more about the Moon Kingdom like she did in act 10 so the 90′s anime could spend like two or three episodes talking about the Moon Kingdoms more.
A great example of a balance between Plot and Character is PGSM.
Plot and Character was both present in PGSM which makes it arguably the best version of SM to me.
They work in tandem with each other which is important.
A episode may have been a filler/Character driven episode but you still get some plot.
The plot just don’t stop because you want to focus on this character more in which the 90′s anime did that a lot.
It keep going.
You can structure filler in many ways:
plot filler plot filler
Plot filler filler Plot
Plot Plot filler filler Plot Plot
not
filler filler filler filer Plot filler filler filer filler
Plot Plot Plot filler Plot Plot Plot
If it’s structure really well it can enhance the story not dragging it down which to me some of the filler in the 90’s anime did.
I’m going to take season one as my example.
8 episodes between 1st and 2nd senshi awakens ( Usagi and Ami)
1 episode between 2nd and 3rd senshi  awakens ( Ami and Rei)
14 episodes between 3rd and 4th senshi awakens ( Rei and Makoto)
8 episodes between 4th and 5th senshi “awakens” ( since Mina was technically the first one  to awaken)
12 episodes of them being a short of a full team but that’s when all hell is finally breaking loose.
The gap between Rei and Mako is to big to me.
Mina gets shafted big time.
I feel like it should have been at least five episodes between each senshi. That way you still have them developing individuality but then you have more time with them being a full team. That’s why I’m glad in the manga the gap is smaller because once you get the girls together they can develop as a team and individuality.
2. The art being darker and edgier-This is up for debate but compare to the manga..

yeah not going to spend to much time on this one cause it's to each own.
Even tho this

is not as imitating or scary as this

But Crystal do have some very pretty shots when they are on it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here's a post with a lot of shots showcasing that.
3.Charcter Development - How many times have I talked about this?
Character Development is not just learning about that character and what makes that character tick  but does that character grow and learn certain things about themselves.
To me it’s like
This Character Started at one point in the beginning of the show.
Is that person at the same point or the experiences that had during the course of the show changed them and they are at a different point?
If a character is at that same point and doing the same things they did at the start of the show that’s not character development.
I use this definition to defined what Character Development is
Character development describes both how characters grow and change over the course of the novel and the approaches to how the author makes this happen. In other words, the term describes both the conscious effort of the writer and the effect that effort has on the novel or story.
So to me Character Development and Character Growth works hand and hand.
Some people see it as two different things like this
Character development is the process of revealing information about a character to the audience through the story. It’s not “development” in terms of change over time, but rather “development” in terms of defining who that character is.
Character growth refers to the characters within a story changing over time as a result of the experiences they have. When their values, interests, allegiances, or personalities shift from one part of a story to the next, particularly when information that we would have taken for granted as part of character development is changed right before the audience’s eyes, that’s an instance of
But I see it as
Character Development is your foundation aka your concrete slab. You need that in order to built your house
Character Growth is your frame. You built that up after you get your foundation.
You need both in order to build a house.
I can know person dream and fave colors all day but that don’t mean anything if they don’t grow towards that goal.
That it’s one episode where they learn a lesson and then the next it was forgotten.
What do they do when they face adversity? Do they learn from that experience and grow into a better person?
Can you really put that towards the 90′s anime?
Because yes you know about these characters but does the characters grow?
Yeah Sure We learned that Rei wants to be an idol, can sing and write songs, wants to get married ,can ski, when she was a child she had firebird necklace, and  cares about others even tho she doesn’t show it but still say some mean shit to Usagi and becomes the hothead bitch.
Yeah We learned that Ami can write songs, play chess, fix cars, wants to be a doctor and is a genius but still didn’t fully break out her shy shell and becomes just the smart one.
Sure We learned about Mako loves to cook, sew, grow plants, and is a hopeless romantic w but she till thinks every dude that pass by looks like her ex-boyfriend and just becomes the muscle of the group.
We learned that Mina wants to be an idol, play volleyball, and starts off being the vet of the group with the most experience and the most on her shoulders but she still is an opportunist and is a groupie of the group.
We learned that Usagi is a crybaby, likes to eat, cook, read manga and draw manga ,wears her heart on her sleeve, but she still never grow out of her jealousy, insecurities, childness and the fact she never grew into the role of Sailor Moon.
Also you can’t have your character slide backwards and be actually worse than they were when they started.
Beginning of the Series
Rei- A aloof girl who people thinks is crazy because she got physic powers but just lonely. Is mean towards Usagi and a little boy crazy. ( helpful)
Ami- Being so in tuned with her studies that shes’ not in tuned with the world but feels lonely and wants friends. ( helpful)
Mako- Love baking, other girly things while being so strong and almost tomboy like that people are afraid of her. (Thinking that one dude she come across looks like her old boyfriend.) ( helpful)
Mina- A good leader and friend but also a opportunist cause she wants to become famous even tho she already is.( helpful)
Usagi- Lazy, crybaby, clumsy, and have low esteem but with a good heart and protect the world by never giving up and destroying villains. Goes from doesn’t want to fight but wants to fight in order to protect her family, friends and the world. ( learning how to pull her weight)
End of the Series
Rei- A total bitch towards Usagi that sometimes have her moments where she try to be a good friend where the plots permits it, boy crazy and a opportunist. ( Useless)
Ami- Being so in tuned with her studies  while acting like she while saying some very cruel remarks towards Usagi about her studies habits and thinking she’s not pure when Seiya comes over to her house. . ( Useless)
Mako- Thinking every dude she come across looks like her old boyfriend. ( Useless)
Mina-  A groupie who will do anything to become famous. Even make sure the tabloids have her hooking up with all 3 starlights. dumb blonde #2 ( Useless)
Usagi- Lazy, crybaby, jealous, clumsy, childish, obsessive over her boyfriend and have low esteem who thinks she still not good enough for her boyfriend , future daughter, or friends.. Goes from wanting to fight to giving villains magical redos which they don’t deserve cause they try to destroy the world and her. ( Only person in a group project who does the work)
You got to have growth.
You got to change your character.
You can not have your character stay in a box for a whole series and in this case 200 episodes.
Also with the 90’s anime, I notice that a lot of the girls backstory that was actually in the Manga that actually does constitutes as character development for them is actually not in the 90’s anime.
They never talked about Rei estrangement with her father which is the reason why she lives with her grandfather since her mom died that was talked about in Casablanca Memory. Also the fact that she is also good in archery.
They never talked about Mako losing her parents in a plane cash which the reason why she doesn’t like the sound of planes taking off which was talked about in The Melancholy of Makoto. Also the fact that she does taking care of plants that was bought up in Infinity arc.
Yes they do talk about Ami parents divorce but the only becasue they adapt Ami first love which is the only short story they adapted. But they didn’t fully talk about the extent that divorce does to her cause she barely sees her dad since she live with her mom.
Mina has a whole 16 act two volume manga about her in which they freaking changed her backstory even dealing with her Sailor V days and how she really don’t get along with her mom as well. In which the 90's anime completely changed her backstory dealing with her Sailor V days. Granted the Sailor V Manga wasn't finish until after Sailor Moon Manga but this could have been change to have Naoko on broad and give some ideas that was was working on for the manga and put them into the anime.
Also the fact in the 90's anime the only girl we knew their birthday was Usagi which had a two part episode meanwhile in the manga we knew all the girls birthdays and they were mentioned.
Tumblr media
Rei's was celebrated twice Usagi and Chibiusa was celebrated and Mako/Mina was celebrated as well in the manga.
Rei's was the only one mentioned in Crystal/Eternal since they haven't done the short stories.
That is also apart of character development which the 90's anime didn't include at all.
Also with Usagi the manga and Crystal does states that she will enter the manga club when she in high school and also she does make a bento box for Mamo when he is sick in Infinity arc. It's a subtle way to show that she draws and can cook.
The 90’s anime just let Usagi stayed that way but never grow. You have 200 episodes and the characters is still the same? Also have the same ideology which still had her friends being killed left and right. Her friends still died even if she didn’t want to fight and didn’t want them to die. They still died. She didn’t want to fight in episode 1 and she still didn’t want to fight in episode 200.
Season 1 Usagi:
Tumblr media
Season 3 Usagi
Tumblr media
Season 5 Usagi:
Tumblr media
Different variations but pretty much the same thing.
I understand wanting to avoid conflict but sometimes you can’t avoid it and do what you can to save the people you love and the planet..
Especially if it’s for the greater good.
The 90's anime had enough time ( which each season being 30 to 40 episodes) to  really explore subjects like Usa’s insecurity, jealousy, PTSD, her fears about being alone, her fears about losing her friends and family, her fear of losing Mamoru, her not truly want the mantle of being Sailor Moon and just want to be a normal girl etc. Which she realized and understand these things about herself and the series goes start to mature from these experiences into a better person.
That didn’t happen until the last season but barely .
Like It would be perfectly ok to watch a 200 episode series that each season built on from each season in the terms of Usagi dealing with those things I listed above and by the end of the series she completely matures as a person. Not almost the same shit almost every singe episode and season.
The op may say the only thing Manga/Crystal was good at was being Sailor Moon( which is not true) meanwhile in the 90's anime she never grew into being Sailor Moon...
Usagi Tsukino in every version of Sailor Moon starts out not knowing what she’s doing when she becomes SM which is ok and it’s relatable to the max.
A 14 year old girl finds a cat with a crescent mark who magically talks, gives her magical broach, tell her that she’s a solider, must fight this enemy and look for this princess?
Totally understandable for her to be like “I don’t know what I’m doing! I need help. I just want to go the fuck home!” in which Mamoru and then as the other Senshi awakens come to help her and tell her what she needs to do. The problem is having her like that for almost 200 episodes.
She never grow into the mantle of being Sailor Moon.
It’s a difference being like that for like the first two seasons and making progress to know what you doing to which the end of the Series you know exactly what you are knowing than to be told for the majority of 200 episodes what to do and then somehow  knowing what to do in the season finale episodes.
Which some people are perfect ok with that but get upset that Manga/Crystal Usagi knows what the she’s doing by the end of 2nd season which the next 3 seasons is just adding on. To the point last season she exceeds everyone and the the only one who can save the whole damn Universe.
They are more skilled than her and help her grow into her role.
As the Manga, Crystal/Eternal, and PGSM progresses, she’s becomes to really grow into the mantle of Sailor Moon and knowing what she needs to do. In Infinity arc, it’s just a profound but bittersweet moment for a 15 year old girl who is happy with her friends and boyfriend to be like “ Welp I know my happiness is not going to last long because something is always coming but this what I have to endure because it’s my mission. I have to protect this planet and the people who lives in it. I will take whatever happiness I can get and face whatever comes my way even if I suffer for it. This what my life is so I accept it”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Manga/Crystal Usagi wants to be a Normal girl but not ONCE wants to give up the mantle of being Sailor Moon. She understands that in order to protect the people she loves and the planet that she loves, this is her responsibly but she still want to do Normal things as much as she can.
She accepts that she will never have the normal teenage life that other teenagers will but she will make damn sure she will take whatever happiness she can get and hold on to it. Also the fact she have her fellow senshi who also will never have
I mean this girl knew she was a princess in her past life and a Queen with a Kingdom, Marries her current boyfriend who was past lover in her past life  with a Kid in her future.
Her life will never be normal but she accepts it but it doesn’t mean she’s not going to have a grip some kind of normalcy to it. Which she does to the best to her ability but she’s doesn’t slack off with her responsibly being a senshi cause she knows the whole world depends on her and friends to defend it.
She accepts she is Sailor Moon which is character development.
She raises to the challenge ,matures and becomes the powerful and sought after Senshi there is..
90′s Usagi never made it that far cause she as still struggling to be a normal teenager.
She still stuck on trying to be normal, never learn to balance it out and actually fully accepts the mantle.
The last half of first season was her keep saying over and over again that she wants to be normal.
She gets her wish after defeating Beryl which everyone losing their memoires.
Luna had to give her memoires back in which the mantle of Sailor Moon was thrusted back on her. She cries at the end , says goodbye to normal life and that’s forgotten..
But it just weird because her wish took their choice to being a senshi or not away from them but now you want them back because you don’t want to be the only one. Yes the wish may have brought everyone back to life but it literary took everyone choice away from them. Like she could have been a normal teenager meanwhile the others could have still have their memories ( if they wanted) and watch after her.
Hell Mamo didn’t get a choice because he loses his Memories again. Which also weird again how Usagi wanted be normal girl , not carry the memories  and responsibilities but trying to pull Mamo memoires out of him. Mamo’s own self conscious buck against the Usagi’s wish with Moonlight Knight . MK was pretty much Mamoru self conscious that still wanted to protect Sailor Moon with all his memories intact. That should tell you something.
Almost like passing the buck to them cause you still don’t want to be Sailor Moon. Now this would be ok if only the fact if the other seasons she finally grows into taking the mantle of Sailor Moon and accepts the responsibly but even in the next three seasons it still feels like she don’t want to be Sailor Moon.
She does say this in episode 51 when she loses her transformation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Usagi: My transformation is gone
Luna: Usagi you came back as a solider but still
Usagi: I know, I still wish I could be a regular girl in junior high.
Luna: You won't be able to use Moon Tiara action or your transformation.
So in a sense the Sliver Crystal knows in her heart that she fully don’t want to be Sailor Moon even tho she want to save her friends. ( which makes sense why 90′s Usagi is really not as Strong with the Silver Crystal compare to her other versions. Also the fact the writers FORGOT about it as the series went.)
It’s like she got the transformation broach from Queen Serenity because her strong sense to save her friends but it still wasn’t a moment for her to be like “ Ok I want to have a normal life but I am Sailor Moon. I have to some way make both work.”
So you don’t really fix the problem of her not wanting to be Sailor Moon at all. It still was not growth for her to realize that even tho she wants to be a normal teenager girl she can’t fully have that wish but that doesn’t mean she can’t find a way to have some sense of normalcy.
Nope They just gave her a new compact and call it a day.
Like I said earlier this would be ok if other seasons she finally fully embrace it because it would been Character Development and Growth. Even in StarS it still felt like she was bucking against it.
Like 200 hundred episodes and still not accepting the mantle of Sailor Moon?
I’m going to say this one thing tho ,Yes I do feel like the wish was selfish BUT due to the fact that you can tell she had PTSD it’s understandable. That’s all I’m going to say on that.
It’s kind of ironic how the op say that only thing Crystal/Manga Usagi was good at being Sailor Moon but at the same token the 90's anime put a lot of stock in her being SM as a way for when romantic rivals found out she's Sailor Moon, they back off trying to shoot their shot with Mamoru then her just being Usagi Tsukino.
This happens twice in Sailor Moon SuperS.
Both Saori and FishEye backed up on trying to shoot their shot with Mamo once they realized Usagi is Sailor Moon.
Both of them was like “ Oh I see the reason why he with her because she’s Sailor Moon.”
To me this is worse than the fandom thinking the only reasons why he with her is because they are past lovers in SliMil.
They think he’s only with her cause he knows she’s Sailor Moon and nothing else.
The 90's anime is putting more merit and stock in her being Sailor Moon aka the superhero than her being Usagi aka normal teenage girl who does have hobbies like the op mentioned.
It’s almost like Usagi doesn’t have any value being the normal teenager who does act WAY childish at times but then she does has value when they find out she’s the senshi of justice.
They was all thinking that “How could he possibly see anything in this childish girl and she’s no where in my league ” to be like “ Damn She’s out of my league. I can’t touch her. No Wonder he’s with her”
But it’s not based on the merits of being Usagi Tsukino but Sailor Moon.
Her just being Usagi Tsukino has no weight to them at all and the writers.
To me that’s a huge problem and is an imbalance of power that is very present in the 90's anime. …
Her position as being Sailor Moon has more power than her being just Usagi Tsukino in the Magical Side (Fisheye) and the Civilian/Society side.( Saori)
Let’s put it like this
In the manga and crystal yes, Naoko does make it apparent that the inner senshi are the background singers who do get a solo song from time to time while Usagi is the main star. But they are still present and is there for battle.
It’s like Destiny Child where you knew Beyonce was the star but Kelly and Michelle was there, had their chance in the spotlight, helped in the writing process and the voices to prove it. They were a group that had each other backs.  ( PGSM does fix this big time!)
In the 90′s anime it makes makes you think the inner senshi has multiple solos but as the seasons goes around you realized that Usagi is doing all the solos, the back up tracks, wrote, and produced the songs, the promos for the album and the senshi just there to the point they just get photoshoped in for a photo shoot for the cover.
Aka the Pussy Cat Dolls where Nicole was singing solo and back up tracks and the other ones was just there..
4. Villain Redemption
With one Villain who get like 20 plus episodes, with another only get one or two and then all of a sudden get a redemption in a matter of five seconds which have no weight to it and never been seen again to help out Usagi and the senshi? Who really don’t get any character development because the redemption happen so fast that really doesn’t give them time to actually think what they was doing was wrong? Or doesn’t even explain what their dreams are which would be considered character development? or get a sob story after almost killing everyone TWICE without ever thinking about the consequences of their actions and get a redo? That every major villain besides Beryl and the Doom phantom gets a damn redo??
The 90′s anime writers made redemption (not redemption arcs) into a novelty. It made it something that was given freely and not earned since they didn’t put in the work for that character to get it. It becomes a easy fix to a problem instead of just killing that villain. It become like Oprah giving free cars but to certain people.
“You get redeemed! You get redeemed! Naw! You don’t get one. You get redeemed!”
But just lacked the substance to make it feel real.
Because who doesn’t love good redemption arc?
You know when a villain realizes what they and their bosses is doing is wrong and is slowly but surely changing their ways and by the end of it helping the hero out.
Who doesn’t love that when it’s done right?
You get to know the character backstory, what make their character tick, get to see them look at their own actions, to feel remorseful about them and make decisions from themselves.( aka what they sort of did with Fisheye and the amazon trio but it happen like in two episodes which their last episodes. Even then it was still more of a selfish reason aka to stay human then actually realized what they done was wrong. Also even then FishEye pretty much did all the leg work meanwhile the other two really did nothing. )
You get to see them grow as character just like you see the hero does.
Which let me stop for a second to talk about this pic for a second
Now this was from a confession from the now deleted Pretty Senshi Confessions which was like one of the best SM confessions blog.
Tumblr media
This was a pretty hot confession which gained like 600 notes which in this post you can see them.
I'm going to say this loud and clear.
This is not a double standard at all and it all comes from knowing backstory.
With the Shitennou thanks to the manga and crystal we know that they were Enydion guardians who where brainwashed by Metallia and Beryl.
We know that they were good in the beginning and not evil..
Thanks to Crystal they were trying to break the brainwashing but Beryl brainwashed them more in which Senshi in act 12 finally broke it.. ( not talking about the rest of 12 becasue that episode is still a clusterfuck but I digress)
So we know they were doing things of their free will.
That's a difference between the Ayahashi sisters and the Shittennou
Also the same thing applies to the Amazoness Quartet as it does with the Shittennou because in the manga and Eternal/Crystal they was good in the begging anyway. They supposed to be awaken and become Chibiusa gradians but Nehellenia found them woke them up and use them for her bidding. ( In the 90's anime she found them in the jungle and pretty much did the same thing and at the end they redeemed themselves by helping Chibiusa out.)
So in a sense you really can't call Shittennou and Amazon Quartet a redemption but them thanks the Senshi returning to what they originally supposed to be which is good but evil got ahold of them to make them evil.
It's a difference of that with them being brainwashed than being kind of swayed by darkness and realized what evil they was doing for the villain was wrong.
Their agency to realized what is right and wrong was taken away from them.
The Ayakashi sisters are originally ruthless terrorist who kill people not misguided young ladies in which Koan was in love with a dude who didn't give two shits about them ( in which she almost blew herself up with the bomb he gave her) in which the Senshi help them out and then they open up a make up shop which they were never heard from again.
In the words of blackmanta who really put this in perceptive.
"Koan MURDERED A MAN on SCREEN. An innocent person was *Murdered* and you want to do what? Reward that?
In the original Manga, she murdered a Little Girl.
But, you know, Gotta make her sympathetic like the 90′s anime because we can’t have villains being unapologetically Villains.
Not everyone deserves to be fleshed out
Not everyone *needs* to be fleshed out just because *you* like a rendition of their character. Especially not two-bit minor minions in the grand scheme of things.
I don’t hear anyone crying for the Witches 5 to get character development.
I don’t hear anyone going on about how terrible Crystal is for not giving the Witches 5 development."
Also silvermoon424 sums it up well
"I’m a bit annoyed at how the OP is trying to make Koan’s death an issue of feminism/social justice by claiming that it has “gross implications” and is a “double standard.” No, it’s not. The Shitennou used to be Mamoru’s loyal guardians and were noble, brave, and dedicated, just like the Senshi. They were brainwashed by Metallia and, after they regain their past memories, continue to act as Mamoru’s advisors and confidants even after they die.
Now, Anime!Koan is comparable to them, as it’s implied that she and her sisters were being brainwashed by the Black Crystal. Not only that, her misguided love for Rubeus drives her to do his bidding in the hopes of winning his heart; after Rei teaches her that she can live for herself and start over, she willingly lets herself be purified and tries to redeem herself by saving her sisters.
Crystal!/Manga!Koan, on the other hand, is basically just a terrorist. She (like the rest of her sisters) has a cultish devotion to the Black Moon Clan and is more than happy to murder anyone who stands in her way. She literally burns a small child to death because the girl just happened to see her.
Koan isn’t redeemed because there’s nothing to redeem, not because she’s a woman. If she was a male instead, the exact same fate would have awaited her because she’s evil. Do I prefer the classic anime’s approach instead? Definitely, I love the Ayakashi Sisters’ redemption arc. But I’m not going to begrudge Crystal for killing them off instead, because it doesn’t have an obligation to stick to the original anime."
In the manga we are presented with the A sisters being ruthless and who enjoys cause devastation in which some villain like to do.
Blow up shit and cause hell.
Not every villain have to be this trouble soul who needs to figure out their error of their ways and become a better person for the greater good.
A villain can be just be a villain  doing villain things and try to fuck up shit for our heroes.
You can have simple villain and you can have complex villain
We are not presented with the idea of them being swayed by Doom Phantom and realizing what they was doing in which the 90's anime did but but it happen so quickly that doesn't have any meat to feel full. Just something put together at the last min.
We are presented that they very much know what they are doing and enjoy doing it for the hell of it which is also not nothing wrong with that at all.
And that's other thing
Everyone goes on and on about the A sisters redemption which happens in like three episodes ( Episodes 70 to 72 which one for each sister but two had to share which was episode 72 which was Calaveras and Petz( someone always have to share.. ) but don't saying anything about the with the Witches Five who literary killed each other and fighting over the attention of Tomoe in the 90's anime meanwhile in Manga/Crystal where created to be vessels be the prefect alien/human hybrid which they just competing to a Magus.
No one calls for their redemption at all.
But everyone calls for the redemption of the A sisters and Amazon Trio..
Moving on
The villains in the manga if they wasn’t the big bad acted like the monster of the day.
Naoko didn’t have time to make all those villains question their moral judgement. She barely had time for her own heroes to question their moral judgement.
They were in one act in which either Usagi or the senshi (inner or outer) kills them and we on to the big bad. Get rid of them and on to the bigger fish which they need their energy for.
I didn’t mind the manga or crystal them having one episode because all them got one episode which was equal.
In the 90s anime, those villains become the sub villains meanwhile they had their own villains which became the monster of day. While yes it was cool that the sub villains did get more time and “fleshed out “ but it wasn’t equal at all.
If you really look at each season for each sub villain group it be only like 2 to 3 of the group that gets the most screen time and episodes.
This is pretty much episodes where they are the main focus and not episodes if they were in. Since from villains have some overlap where they interact with the main subvillain that is focus before they become the focus.
Shitennou
Jadeite -13
Nephrite 11
Zoisite 11
Kunzite/Evil Endy- 9
Doom Gloom Girls -1
Evil Endy- 1
A Sisters
Koan- 4
Calaveas-5
Berthier- 5
Pretz- 6
Black Moon Clan
Rubus -2
Esmeraude-7
Diamond-2
Sapphire-1
Black Lady- 4
As you can tell the A sisters are pretty much equal while the Shittenou is off a little but still a little equal and The Main Black Moon Clan is off. But when get the Witches Five..
Kaolinite is supported to be the leader of the Witches Five so she had 13 episodes. Lets look at the rest..
Eudial -10
Mimete -9
Tellu- 1
Viluy-1
Cyprine/ Ptilol-1
By the time Tellu, Villuy, and Cyprine comes to the scene, the season is pretty much over  which they all get a episode a piece and act like more like a monster of the day.
The Amazon Trio
TigerEye - 11
HawkEye - 5
FishEye- 5
Then you have the monster of day besides a handful few really didn’t have character since they was there for one episode to cause hell and then Usagi kills them.
In which yes some of them ( A sisters, Amazon Trio and Quartet, and even Nehprite) did question their moral judgment but it was still half assed cause it happened of a course of one episode or two episodes.
You didn’t have like a good couple consecutive episodes where the villain started to realized what they was doing was wrong. It probably be like two episodes at most where they realized it and the next episode they are getting redeemed. Yeah they make you feel for the character but it’s not enough time to me to make it feel like an arc. A journey that character goes though along with the hero. It almost feel like insta-love. You know how two people just met in a story and five seconds later they are saying I love you even tho they barely know each other name and fave color? That’s how a redemption is the 90′s anime feel. It’s a insta-redemption but not an arc. It happens quick as hell and it’s given freely but not earned. You don’t feel like the character is remorseful for what they have done and want to correct it. It just feel all of sudden cause the writers just though about it.
There’s one redemption that I want to focus on to prove my point.
Nehellenia
This is most serious cases are insta-redemption to me.I know some people would say it’s not really a redemption but the fact she got a do-over it’s a redemption to me and going to treat it as such. She got a second chance which to me she didn’t deserve it.
Just look what she did in SuperS and Stars.
Tries to take over earth twice. First by her circus and then by the mirrors as her revenge.
Tries to kill Chibiusa twice. The first time throwing her unconscious body off her floating circus into the Tokyo skyline. ( Like seriously for that offense alone she didn’t deserve to get one) The second time by trying to wipe her out of existence by putting a spell on Mamo via mirror.
Tries to kill the senshi multiple times.
Tries to kill Usagi multiple times and freaking struggle her. cause her eyes shows some sympathy for her.
Tries to kill Mamoru first by making the earth sick which made him sick since he connected to it and then by turning him into a puppet via mirror.
She does all this shit in a matter of two arcs and what she gets instead of getting killed?
A freaking do over. A chance to turn back into a kid and do things differently from her kingdom…
Yes she told a sob story about being alone but it didn’t warrant a “redemption” to me. I didn’t feel that she realized what she did was wrong and was sorry for doing it. It honestly more of Usagi feeling pity for her and instead of killing her give her a do-over. It didn’t feel real at all since we didn’t even get a chance to know her or see her question her actions. She was always blood thirsty so her getting a second chance wasn’t wanted. I just feel like the writers wrote themselves into a hole and this how they got themselves out.
What make these insta-redemption frustrating in the 90′s anime is the fact is they had plenty of episodes where they could have made them into redemption arcs compared to the manga where Naoko was like “ Fuck It! I don’t have time to redeem a villain cause I barely got time give my core characters development” The manga is very black and white when it comes to villains compared to the 90′s anime where they can be black and white or morally grey at best.( Cough Sapphire Cough) They had time to make a good redemption arc on a particular character by they didn’t do it. So we are stuck with these insta-redemption that don’t make a lick of sense cause the person didn’t earn them. .
I have to talk about the OP line real quick.
" In Crystal, the heroines will kill a person without a second thought which I am shocked that no one brings up how repetitive and contradictory that is. The pretty warrior of love and justice should by all means protect the Earth, but doing so by killing off the bad guy all time is not love or justice."
I'm sorry but it not contradictory to being a warrior of Love and Justice when a person comes to your damn planet with ill intentions to try to take over the planet and trying to hurt the people you love and trying to protect.
You can't all sit by a camp fire and sing kumbaya and all your problems will be solved.
You do what you have to do in order to protect what and who matters.
It is not contradictory because Usagi does what she have to do to protect the planet and people that she loves from outside threats who want to cause harm.
Especially the fact the A sisters in the Manga and Crystal who was pretty much kidnapping her friends one by one and causing hell for her.
Which they were also killing people without a second thought.
5.Knowing Mamoru better.
Mamoru is just literary his backstory and nothing else in the 90’s anime which they honestly kept him complacent.
He never really had any episodes they was really focusing on him and learning about him thought his lens like we got the girls.
The closest was got to that is during the Rainbow Crystal arc, Break Up arc, R Movie and after that nothing.
He becomes a solid character in S and SuperS which supports Usagi, Chibisusa and the girls but doesn’t grow.  Just become the human tug of war rope between Usagi and Chibusa Like he was really good in SuperS but the fact that he really didn’t get his character development and the Golden Crystal..
Yes the things we did learn from him like him being college student, owning his own apartment, car, and motorcycle and not like vegetables or shots but not in his perceptive per se. Like we didn't found out he was a college student or even his name until episode 15 which Motoki introduced him as one of friends from college.
In which they had to age him up  instead of just having him as a high schooler which he supposed to be.
It was always someone else telling us this information about him and not him tell this information about himself.
The only information he really told about himself was dealing with his parents and him not liking shots which he told Ami.
It is bad enough in the 90's anime that we don't even know when his birthday was which like I said before would be considered as character development as well.
In which in the Manga we do found out thanks to Usagi
Tumblr media
Since the 90′s anime really diminished his role in the final battles a lot
Classic/Dark Kingdom
90’s Anime- Get’s Kidnapped, Brainwashed, tried to kill Usagi in which Usagi cleans him but gets killed by Beryl while saving Usagi. Dies in her arms. Doesn’t help in the final battle.
Manga/Crystal- Gets Kidnap and Brainwashed to thinking he’s Endymion (per se) but after it was the reveal the the shitennou stones saved him form Usagi stab,he was right behind her giving her his strength and support as she defeat Metallia. He also told how how to defeat Metallia thanks to the shitnnou. Happens in Crystal too.
Black Moon
90’s Anime- Actively participates in the battle along Sensh to give his energy to Usa and Chibs. (In R movie but he was Kidnapped after Fiore tried to stab Usagi and took the blow for her but was there and chance into Endymion when she was trying to slow the asteroid down.. ) ( Only battle he was in)
Manga/Crystal- Falls into the Death Phantom’s lair along with the Senshi. She wakes ups in his arms after they were separated from the senshi. Tells Usagi that she needs to believe in herself and he give his strength to help her defeat Dead Phantom along with Chibiusa which he is by her side in Battle.
This was added in Crystal but when they were attacking Doom Phantom he was right behind her giving his strength to her.
S/Infinity
90′s anime- Gives his energy to keep Chibiusa alive once her pure heart was stolen to awaken Mistress 9. ( aka life support)  (not in the final battle)
Manga/Crystal - Gives his energy to keep but after Chibiusa get her pure heart back thanks to Saturn which awakes, he goes into the battle along with Chiubsa to help out Usagi and the senshi. ( Still uses La Bomber)
SuperS/Dream
90’s Anime- Becomes very sick due the fact the Earth and Elsyion(which is protect by the earth)  is being attack thanks the Dead Moon circus.(not in the final battle)
Manga/Crystal/Eternal- Becomes very sick due to his connection with the Earth and Elysion  but Usa get sick with him as well ..It is reveal that he’s the holder of the Golden Crystal which is the equivalent of the Sliver Crystal in which they have to break the seal . He release the power of the Golden Crystal to help Usagi and the Senshi in Eternal Forms to defeat Zirconia and Nehellenia.  Turns into King Endymion along with Usag turning into NQS to cleanse Earth and Elysion.
Stars
90’s Anime- A floating star seed after Galaxia kills him on the airplane when he was leaving for America.
Manga/Crystal/Eternal- Galaxia kills him and take his star seed first at the airport which Usa sees but blocks it out. Galaxia reanimate his corpse to taunt Usa with.
In the manga he has an active role in the final battle AFTER  he either kidnapped or out of commission for a while with the only one he’s not in is Stars Arc because he and the girls are died. Meanwhile in the 90′s anime he’s only active in R Season as a whole. Which R movie is the only one he’s playing an active role after his kidnapping.
Meanwhile in the 90’s anime he just becomes an liability instead of an asset that he was in the manga.
In which you never have him question his purpose of him wanting to do more for Usagi but just have him in this box.
It was like he was ok being a dude in distress. Like it he doesn’t have this sense of wanting to do more and want to be more helpful to her. He just ok where he is at which to be is not realistic.
Like he was just ok throwing roses, saying speeches, having a cane to fight for a second, and then get hurt, almost killed or kidnapped.
While she was getting stronger he just stayed the same and he was fine with that.
Meanwhile Naoko making him question is he bring Usagi down, does he have the power to protect her in which he had a talk with the Shintenou about that. Like he always felt like he wasn’t good enough to protect even tho she always tell him that he gives her strength and she knows that she can depend on him.
Chibiusa was getting stronger he start to feel like he wasn’t needed. Since he always struggled with that since Black Moon arc. Actually since Dark Kingdom when he said he couldn’t protect her. I mean he said in Infinity that he felt like he was giving Chibiusa away on her wedding day. He felt like she has grown so much as a senshi and young girl that she didn’t need his protection anymore. He had to resistant himself from going to comfort her aka hug her when Hotaru died. He knew she had a job to do which help Usagi and he told her to do it.
Mamoru in the manga and crystal was an actual character who have doubts and fears in which the character helped him grow out of it and start to grow into himself and power along with Uasgi and not on objectified eye candy that the 90′s anime male writers made him as the series went. Who you only learn things about from other people and not directly from him but a bunch of times.
In which you found what his Dream was which was t0 protect the Earth along with Usagi in which they become equals.
So I really don’t have a conclusion to this because it was so long. Lol
Just wanted to give my thoughts.

Let's Talk #SailorMoonEternal: Stars
I find it hard to believe I have been on Tumblr for nearly eight years.
I originally began my Tumblr as part of a college assignment involving social media. It included getting a response from a comic book reviewer (who is still active). After graduating, this evolved into my first news site of sorts where I have written about shows such as Gotham, The Loud House, and Sailor Moon Crystal.
In more recent years, this has mostly served to compliment my main news site, but I do my best to keep it active by writing about things that would be more appropriate for Tumblr.
With that noted, my first post of 2022 is all about Sailor Moon Eternal.
The second film ended by not so subtly hinting at the manga's final story arc by constantly mentioning Stars.
Tumblr media
For my early thoughts on a possible remake of the final manga arc, feel free to keep reading. There will be spoilers.
The original show's final season wound up in a situation similar to the later seasons of Game of Thrones. In both cases, the adaptation had to come up with its own ending due to the original source material at the time being incomplete. In the case of Sailor Moon Sailor Stars, the manga did not end until after the anime.
Tumblr media
The final season was a disaster. The show clearly wanted to go back to the first three seasons' tropes after SuperS focused far too much on Chibiusa. It drastically altered the Starlights' personalities, haphazardly introduced Eternal Sailor Moon with a contrivance, turned Chibi Chibi into a mute Chibiusa clone, and dragged out the final fight to a crawl straight out of Dragon Ball Z.
Tumblr media
Several concepts from the manga were dropped for the original show in order to accommodate its episodic format. In one case, it led to a plot hole involving Mamoru's Star Seed. Chibiusa also played a major role in the final arc but was written out of the show after the opening arc in favor of more pointless Starlight shipping.
Tumblr media
Another element abandoned by the anime was Sailor Cosmos, Chibi Chibi's "actual" form. Because the show had to have another Chibiusa, in a way similar to The Fairly OddParents, Cosmos never showed up. The closest she got to an appearance was Chibi Chibi transforming into Sailor Chibi Chibi Moon, an anime-only variant based on Sailor Chibi Chibi (sans Moon moniker).
Tumblr media
While the show's "monster of the week" format gelled well with the first four arcs, it became clumsy and repetitive when everyone had Star Seeds of their own. While implying anyone could be a Guardian, the concept was wasted by everyone just being monsters.
Tumblr media
Despite some setbacks, Sailor Moon Eternal proved the shorter manga arcs could be adapted into a pair of films. Something similar can also be done with Stars.
Tumblr media
Toei has the final decision over to adapt the arc either as another TV season or films. The latter option would be preferable considering the wide range of liberties offered with film over TV. It could adapt some of the manga's darker moments without having to either sanitize or downplay them like either the original show or Crystal.
Tumblr media
Regardless of how long it takes, any potential adaptation of Stars will be far better than the original show's final season.
Tumblr media
Sailor Moon Crystal and Sailor Moon Eternal stream on Netflix (in select regions). Sailor Moon Sailor Stars streams on Hulu and Crave.
Tumblr media
Until next time, thank you for reading! Happy New Year!

Note
That anaversary aizen looks absolutely fabulous, he looks like a figure skater xd.
I heard along time ago the last arc of the anime was being animated finally bc they pulled a 90s sailor moon were the last season was not either animated or dubbed untill decades later.
I recall near the end of the current 366 episodes there was an episode were the creapy demon ppl woke up in hell and we're all bitter, and there was the other guy who was like, iM cOmEiNg FoR u IChIgO, but then is never mentioned again after and I'm like, why? Why is lt there just plopted randomly into a different arc that seams unrelated.
And locking aizen up underground seems ok, but It deff won't hold, and he will. Escape, and he will kill, you either need that one spell from star, dubbed, the darkest spell of moon the undaunted, a powerfull dark spell that killed immortal beings, that came from best character, eclipsa, the queen of darkness.
We need that.
Or stick him I'm crystal like eclipsa was in star. Is there no one who could trap him in ice or crystal for all eternity.
How about throw him into the centre of a volcano trapped and caged , forverr being killed by heat?
I assume there's space travel, send I'm into a black whole, were a black whole don't fuckin care if your immortal or fat, you will die
:3
Yes, I love anniversary Aizen. His original octopus-butterfly hollow design was ugly so I'm glad he's back to being the fashion icon he is.
Locking Aizen up underground once is one thing, doing it twice after saying he got more powerful by just sitting there, and he escaped to battle the Quincy Soul King God... is another. I think he should have escaped at the end of the Quincy arc. That is the only feasibility.
I heard the anime is coming back for the Quincy arc as well, but because of COVID its probably going to be delayed. (I'm not gonna watch it until the Rain section of the arc then I'm dipping out. I'm only here for Zangetsu)
and funny that you mention that hell scene in the manga :)
-> spoilers for the new BLEACH 73 page anniversary chapter / thoughts/critique on it
So hey you had a premonition! Syazel .... returned? And his hole is outside of his body??? for some reason???
(I didn't understand the explanation or why / how that happens and what that means for the hollow)
And my friend and I were laughing because out of ALL the things. Kubo could do in this anniversary. He gave Syazel his dick back after going to hell. That is iconic. (that's where his hole was located, and now that its not on his body ... well...) This is the funniest thing Kubo has EVER pulled. Kudos to you, sir.
The entire internet is freaking out over Ukitake being in hell. Honestly Kubo has done far worse, and we've established that Soul Society is a corrupt system that hasn't changed, so I'm not surprised he would pull something like this.
At the same time, Kubo 1. cheated his audience. 2. continues to prove me right that he cannot bring himself to kill his characters
1. Hollows who have commit murder in their human life are sent to hell. Syazel and Aaorniero are two of these hollows, and yet, when they are killed, there is NO gates of hell scene. We see them there later in the hell chapter (which was more of a promotion for the fourth movie and I didn't believe it would hold any merit)
But the same goes for Ukitake. We never see the gates of hell take him. What, was hell late? Did hell's gates get lost like an uber before picking him up? It's bull. Withholding such vital information from your audience, not showing the gates of hell when they should pick up this soul IMMEDIATELY is ... I mean its a lie. Kubo lied to his audience.
2. Now we are told powerful shinigami are sent to hell when they die. First of all that sounds like a security threat. Wouldn't shinigami want revenge for that? Or attempt to escape? Why would they still hold loyalty after being sent to a prison of eternal suffering?
Also "Yhwach and Aizen" were the only ones keeping Hell's gates closed is way too convenient and doesn't really make any sense. I feel like Aizen should have deliberately gone to hell to retrieve powerful shinigami / hollows for his army instead of keeping it /closed/.
This is definitely a Kubo-doesn't-know-what-he's-doing-and-is -making- stuff-up-as-he-goes, but it might have a pinch of merit because of previous plot lines.... but either way, there's some big plot holes here, but again, its Kubo, so I expected nothing less.
Again, he can't kill off his characters. He introduced zombification, he introduced immortality through the hougyoku, he has Orihime and Hachigen's reversal / rejection abilities. He brought back Luppi, friggen.... a character who's entire upper half of his body was incinerated. Like.... come on. No. He's dead, you can't bring him back like that. That's a cop out and just weird. You're taking away consequences and grief.
(Also Yamamoto and Unohana deserve to be in hell far over Ukitake, they've done some fcked up stuff in their pasts unlike him)
Also Kubo's favorite character is Mayuri, which.... you're allowed to have a favorite problematic character. But Keeping said character alive and bared from the consequences of abusing his daughter, murdering innocents, and experimenting on your own squad members? Nah. Nope. Kill him, Kubo. Kill this dude.
(his weird attachment to Mayuri is probably why he keeps bringing Syazel back, since Syazel is Mayuri 2.0, but Syazel is the bad guy who does face consequences for his actions while Mayuri is not)
~
Also, I'm certain Kazui and Orihime are going to be THRILLED that their precious husband/dad is going to hell when he dies :)
(I just... Rukia teased Ichigo about leaving Orihime at home. She teased him about having a house wife who he leaves all the chores to. Orihime had two panels. She checks on her son who promised he would be at home and sleep. Kazui fcking breaks his promise like it never mattered to him and JUMPS out the window after pretending to sleep in front of his mother. ... An 8 year old... alone... in the middle of the night.)
Orihime is abandoned. She is not invited to SS, she is not informed of what is going on, her son leaves her.... I...
Orihime is a side character. She doesn't matter anymore. She hasn't mattered for a long, long time.
A part of me is glad she had little screen time, since she tends to waste it, but another part of me is embroiled with rage.
I've even see people try to defend this. "Orihime and Ichigo can't be together ALL the time, that's an unhealthy relationship!" and I'm like guys... that's not the point. The point is Orihime is not part of Ichigo's other life. Any shinigami stuff from now on is none of her business. She's going to stay at home while Kazui and Ichigo go off and save the world. Ichigo is going to be fighting by Rukia and Renji while Orihime watches from the sidelines, or worse, doesn't even know what is going on with her husband and son. Orihime is going to be uninformed and abandoned, because she has not proven she is capable of fighting by their sides(go on, @ me. I will fight this. She's a failure.), and also because she prefers a human life over a dead one. Which is ironic, because she married a dead man. Ichigo is a shinigami, and he will be one forever. god forbid she ever meets his Zanpaktou. She would tremble in fear at the monsters her husband harbors in his soul, especially when she realizes they don't care about her and would rather see her dead. (Zangetsu would absolutely kill Orihime. Not sure about Kazui, but Orihime has not accepted Zangetsu, she does not like either of them, and the feeling is assuredly mutual.) frick now I want to make a comic about this
Also still frustrated over Zangetsu's shikai / bankai regression. Kubo once again lied to his audience. Ichigo has no bankai. How ridiculous is that? The main character of BLEACH doesn't have a bankai. Insulting.
(RIP to Chad. He doesn't exist anymore. He's just gone. No mention, no cameo. Gone.)
Kazui is a demon child. That character from the novels? Hikone? They're the same character. Literally same personality, same power level. Its worse because Kazui is a liar. He constantly goes behind his parents' backs. He can summon creepy fish and creepy eyeballs and open portals like is ANYONE aware of this? How has SS not kidnapped Ichigo's son and experimented on him / locked away his powers yet? All substitute shinigami require a reiatsu controlling / spy badge to keep them in line. Where is Kazui's? Or is he just a weird fullbringer?
I was worried Kubo was gonna try and pull a knock off Boruto but luckily he kept the focus on Ichigo and the others. But that being said, Ichika and Kazui are now just... sort of there? Kazui was kinda just.... having his own adventure that doesn't matter to the plot at hand, and Ichika had some nice characterization at first but she just hid behind her dad the whole time.
I have a feeling Kazui is gonna step in at the last minute or do some major behind the scenes thing that indirectly interferes with the main plot so no one will realize how powerful and dangerous he actually is. Its sad because Ichika is the superior character in personality and likability, but she clearly is not going to have a bigger part in this.
Ichigo having a normal life after everything still feels extremely boring and uncomfortable to me. Everyone's like 'I'm still bLEACH!" but.... BLEACH just... doesn't feel like BLEACH anymore. It hasn't for a while now.
~~~
There's two new shinigami characters. Didn't care for the girl, but the Sign Language kid who talks to animals is adorable ... however... he just reminds me of Chad, and I just... it hurts knowing Chad has essentially been deleted. Chad and Orihime are officially benched. They have chosen the human world, and Orihime has given Ichigo his spawn so she has no more use/purpose to him anymore... ////sigh
~~~
Also. This is claimed to be a new "arc". So is the BLEACH manga coming back? What is happening. I thought Kubo was tired and didn't want to do BLEACH anymore. I thought Shounen Jump cut him off. People made so many excuses for Kubo and why the past two arcs have been so badly written the past 6 years and now almost everything they've attempted to defend him with has been revoked.
BLEACH is going to continue to screw up its plot lines and characters, so Its probably best for it to stay dead but I've seen a lot of Kubo stans drooling over this content, they're desperate for BLEACH's return, but its already given out all its possible revelations. There's really nothing else to top here. It's just going to make things up as it goes along ,and I'm not really here for half-assed writing like that, especially since the damage of rushing the previous manga has already been done. Kubo and Shounen Jump are riding off a money nostalgia. None of this was planned.
Honestly though.... overall feeling of this chapter, not as bad as it could have been.
Syazel stole the spotlight, and he's my friend's favorite character, so that's all that really matters.

Sailor Moon 90s Anime is STILL the best
Hi. I know I am on a Sailor Moon binge here, but after seeing all of Crystal, Eternal and on R (season 2) of the first anime, I want to get this all off of my chest... and before I go further, since these are all animes, I will refer to them as 90s, Crystal and Eternal. And after watching them all, I have to say that the 90s takes the gold medal as the best Sailor Moon anime so far and this is why;
1- It had the best pacing. - While I admit that sometimes, it went too far with the filler, 98% of the time, it worked with the 90s. It took its time to make you get to know the characters for better or for worse, it made you see different sides of them, it gave them a chance to truly develop and be multi-dimensional, and it made you care about them. When a death happened, it felt tragic. When a victory happened, you cheered. And when you saw what side characters did, it mattered. I mean, who can ever forget the contribution 90s Naru Osaka had to the story? And everyone who has seen the 90s anime cannot forget her. More on the character development and getting to know characters later.
Tumblr media
Sure, it wasn’t true to the manga and even the characters had different personalities, but I let that slide by because when Crystal and Eternal did follow the manga to the letter, we didn’t get a chance to digest anything. The only characters who develop are Usagi, Chibi-Usa and the outer guardians, and for the last bunch, it was the bare minimum. Crystal and Eternal were fun rides and I would be lying if I said I didn’t like them, but they were like roller coasters. They gave you a thrill, but fast and been done. The 90s was like a slow scenic ride that gave you surprises, emotionally touched you, made you cry, made you laugh, made you root for the heroes and even at the age of 37 years now, I keep rewatching this series.
2- The art of the 90s was better because it was sketchy, dark and edgier. - I know Sailor Moon doesn’t seem like this on the surface because the heroines are lovely girls in cute costumes, it emphasizes femininity and all things pretty, it has a romantic theme and is all about love, but Sailor Moon is also one of the darkest, grittiest, edgy and violent magical girl animes I have ever seen since Magic Knights Rayearth. Sailor Moon has on screen deaths which were permanent most of the time, on screen stabbings and the drawing of blood, and fights that got so hardcore, that real punches and kicks were thrown. The dark edges, black line art and sharp edges worked with the atmosphere of the story. I mean, look at the difference between the halls Dark Kingdom of the 90s (above) and that of Crystal.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And if that is not enough to win you over, the characters were much more animated, organic and conveyed more emotion whether they were exaggerated or serious.
Tumblr media
In Crystal, the expressions and body language was very dulled down. Not to mention, very stiff.
Tumblr media
Everything is also too bright and soft which makes the characters look like velvet dolls with too much make up especially with the line art. I will give them props for adding better details, cleaner lines, the glow of magical items, and details in the gems, but everything else is all wrong.
Tumblr media
Eternal was better, but still not quite there. The colours are still way too bright and the characters still look too much like dolls from having line art that is too wispy. And I really do not like how the eyes have this unnatural glow to them. The edgy scenes become lost with all this brightness.
Tumblr media
3- We got to see that there was so much more the characters than just heroes or villains. - Since Usagi is the titular character, let us just talk about her in the 90s since I could go on forever about how much we learned about the characters. In any version of Sailor Moon, Usagi’s role as a Sailor Guardian has always been the core of the story and she does indeed show progress as one. However, the 90s tells us that no matter what, she is still going to be herself too which is just as important and she shows character development as just plain old Usagi too. The manga, Crystal and Eternal which only paint Usagi as not doing anything right except be a Sailor Guardian, but the 90s show her hidden talents and learning new skills. For example, she was bad at cooking at the beginning of the series.
Tumblr media
However, by Sailor Moon R, she gets the hang of it and is able to cook a meal by herself. Yes, she is messy, clumsy, never gets the hang of making cookies and is nowhere near Makoto’s level especially when it comes to presentation, but she is good at cooking food.
Tumblr media
Another hidden talent of Usagi’s is her drawing skills. She isn’t just good at drawing. She’s got talent at it, so in the 90s, Usagi is quite the artist.
Tumblr media
And it is admirable that 90s Usagi is open to trying new things even if she isn’t good at them. She practices, she explores and tries to enlighten herself. Sure, academics, coordination and organization will never be her fortes, but she really does have other and tries to discover more.
Tumblr media
In Crystal and Eternal, she is good at being Sailor Moon, she is a good friend and a good girlfriend, but that is it. She is one dimensional here and she isn’t the only one to painted like that. Everyone is only the obvious and that is all the audience gets.
4- Better character redemption. - I mentioned before that Sailor Moon had grit and was dark, but the 90s also made it more complex and did character redemption right. It was open to the possibility of bad people becoming good. For instance, the Black Moon Clan Specter Sister are unforgettable for being successfully redeemed.
Tumblr media
Yes, I admit that the monster of the day would get killed by the hands of the Sailor Guardians, but they also clearly showed that the monsters were not people or even alive. They were made of energy, clay or sand. When the monster of the day was a possessed innocent, they were saved through exorcism. Very rarely was an actual person ever killed and even when they were, it was either by the hands of another villain, their own hand, self defense or as a last resort. They never used killing as means of dealing with every single bad guy.
Tumblr media
Furthermore, the bridge arc about the Makai Tree that also served as a prologue to Sailor Moon R could be seen as a story about mercy, kindness and love. It stands out as the one time the big bad was actually a misunderstood big good being the Makai Tree herself. And even Ail an An were never bad, but were raised bad. And even then, they changed. This story is unique only to the 90s so far, but it was great and stood out for that reason.
Tumblr media
In Crystal, the heroines will kill a person without a second thought which I am shocked that no one brings up how repetitive and contradictory that is. The pretty warrior of love and justice should by all means protect the Earth, but doing so by killing off the bad guy all time is not love or justice. I also think the caption in this picture sums up how I feel about how the one and only time bad guys were given a chance to be redeemed...
Tumblr media
Eternal was better because the Asteroid Guardians got redeemed and saved. However, even then, I feel like there is still a double standard. They were one of the good guys to begin with and Sailor Guardians. In the 90s, the Amazoness Quartet wasn’t, but were given a chance to change anyway. I find it cool that the Quartet turned out to be Sailors and even better that they will go on to become Chibi-Usa’s team, but mercy is not just for your allies or for your own benefit. Everyone should be given at least one chance to fix their mistakes.
Tumblr media
5- We got to know Mamoru better. - I admit that no matter the incarnation, Tuxedo Mask will never be as powerful as Sailor Moon except when he is King Endymion, but the 90s take on his character made him better even if they did omit his super attack being Tuxedo le Smoking Bomber. What the well dressed masked man lacked in firepower, he made up for in intelligence, insight about the enemy’s weakness, courage and skill. The only times he ever did get overpowered was either by bad luck or because it was intentional because he was taking a hit for Sailor Moon. And even then, he always got back up. He’s a real man like that.
Tumblr media
More importantly, we get to know him as Mamoru too. Even before he confides being an amnesiac to Usagi, we see his struggles with feeling alone in the world from having no memory of his life before a tragic accident which also killed his parents. Now, him being a stern cynical person makes sense because I probably wouldn’t be pleasant to be around either if I lived with that. Once his walls come down, we see that deep down, all he wants is to belong somewhere and have a family. It should also be noted that 90s Mamoru doesn’t love Usagi because he is “destined” to. He loves her because he wants to. Even during that brief period where he broke up with Usagi was an act of love. The thing I also always liked best about 90s Mamoru is that even though he loves Usagi more than life itself, his life doesn’t revolve around her which is a healthy thing and he tries to encourage Usagi to be the same way for her own good. He is studying to be a doctor, he has a job and he even has his own crowd which I think is great.
Tumblr media
In Crystal and Eternal, while I do see an attempt at trying to follow this trend by showing that Usagi and Mamoru were on their way to falling in love even before they got their memories back, I still find he was one note and we never really learn much about him that has nothing to do with Tuxedo Mask, Endymion or anything royal related. Sure, we know that he’s studying to be a doctor and is a genius to an extent too, but that is it.
Tumblr media
I would like to end this by admitting that the 90s was not perfect either, but out of all the takes on the tale of Sailor Moon as of date. Crystal and Eternal were ok, but they just cannot stand up to the quality of the 90s. The only thing I can say I find Crystal did better than the 90s were the costume designs. Specifically, how they let Venus keep her chain belt, Pluto’s key chain belt, Uranus and Neptune’s shorter gloves, Uranus’s sword, Uranus having two earrings, Mercury’s suit is shoulder less which I always found suited her better, and I liked Sailor Moon’s brooch and necklace better in season 1.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And even then, I should have liked it if Jupiter’s antenna was always on display as it is just something I always found cute in the manga, I liked Mars’ five point star earrings better in the 90s, and I like how in the 90s, each of the Inner Guardians’ sailor stripes were a little different.
Of course, this is all my opinion. I would like to hear which of the animes did Sailor Moon right in your opinion and why. Thanks for reading and stay safe, and have a great day.

I finished Sailor Stars!
That season was a train wreck :D
Wowie okay so um what to say. Well for one thing the ending made no sense. The Galaxy couldron was nonexistent so WOOO ten points to me for being right :D
The only part I legitimately liked was that Mamoru put up a fight and talked trash to Galaxia's face before she nuked him :D But no Usagi literally found out in such a crappy way. Bruh.
Uhhh what else what else. Uhhh I mean Galaxia was so badly written I don't even know what to say. And they didn't use Chibi Chibi correctly. They did however give us this.
Tumblr media
F in the chat for fans of Sailor Cosmos. Though she isn't revealed to even be Sailor Cosmos until act 60 so uh idk yea. But like it also literally makes no sense to even show this since they say Chibi Chibi is Galaxia's star seed so yeeaaaaa
No epic space battle. The fight just takes place in a building in the middle of Tokyo. Uhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Yea no this wasn't an experience I enjoyed. I'm not even gonna lie I skipped through anything that didn't interest me.
And now I guess I completed Sailor Moon...?
I'll rank the seasons
Sailor Moon (season 1): 6.5/10
Honestly was enjoying a lot once I got used to the formula they used for the series. They took a long ass time introducing the senshi and when Usagi was revealed as the Princess it could have been handled better. They developed more minor characters like Naru and Shingo which I enjoyed. and Usagi's dynamic was fun though Mamo was particularly rude. But as the season went on (at least up to episode 35) the two became enjoyable to watch and comparable to their manga counterparts. But then Evil Endy happened and I was hating my life :D
Sailor Moon R: 7.5/10
Filler with Ail and An was like really dumb. BUT I got to see Mamoru and Usagi have more time together and fall in love again. But like also I did skip stuff there. When it got to the Black Moon I was actually pretty invested. Black Moon had the best opening visuals. And honestly the break up arc was a strong point of the arc looking back. I know I roasted Mamo for his actions but if anything it proved how much he really wanted to be with Usagi especially in the Sleeping Beauty episode. Chibiusa was pretty much just as she should be. Mamo got no powers. I liked that they gave redemption arcs to the Supernatural sisters. Black Lady was somewhat rushed. Diana was nonexistent and we barely saw any of the 30th Century. Plus Chibiusa never earned her powers as a Sailor Guardian on screen. The ending is a complete blur for me.
Sailor Moon S: 5.5/10
Mamousa in this season was honestly peak from start to finish. However literally everything else sucked 😅 The daemons were weird as hell. The Witches 5 were crazy. Haruka and Michiru were unfortunately jerks and that never changed in this season. Mugenzu academy was introduced waaaaaaaaayyyy too late. The inner senshi were constantly ragging on Usagi. Not to mention Usagi was treated terribly by the writers. Hotaru was cool I guess. The pure heart crystals was DUMB they spent way too long looking for Talismans. I liked the redemption of professor Tomoe. But Chibiusa never got to be Super Sailor Chibi Moon.
Sailor Moon Super S: 5/10
I was starting to like it towards the end but then it completely fell apart because they botched my favorite arc. Everything I loved about this arc, they took away. The Sailor Senshi were not princesses, they didn't have Sailor crystals, They ignored the fact that the Golden Crystal is Mamoru's, Usagi never earned her Eternal powers, Artemis, Luna and Diana never turned human. But what did we get in this arc? Well we have creepy and ridiculous circus lemures, we have adult men going after children and invading their dream mirrors. We have awful characterization of the main cast which would make anyone hate them. The Mamousa was good but it could have been better. Chibiusa was falling for a horse with wings before she knew he was a human.
Sailor Moon Sailor Stars: 4/10
Not gonna make this long. As for Nehellenia filler, it was good but also like why? The only redeeming thing about Stars arc was the sliver of Mamoru Usagi content we got and the senshi actually seemed to love and care for Usagi.
So um yea I finally watched the 90s anime! But my overall experience was such a mixed bag. Some of it was just plain bad, some of it was legitimately good, some of it was cringe af and some of it was cute. Will I watch the series again? No. No I will not.
Since I've watched the anime I've earned the right to this opinion:
Sailor Moon Manga >>>>> Sailor Moon Crystal (+eternal) >>>>>>>>>>>> 90's Sailor Moon anime
And now all I want is to watch Sailor Moon Cosmos 😩

Where to start with Sailor Moon?
Tumblr media
From time to time I’ve seen people ask about how to get into Sailor Moon or how they might introduce it to someone else.
As such I’ve made this to (hopefully) help people out.
Introduction
So first of all you should know that the official name for the over all franchise is ‘Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon’. This can (and has) been translated a few ways, but the current official name is ‘Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon’. Basically everything connected with Sailor Moon carries this full official name, but for the purposes of this post I’m just going to shorten things to ‘Sailor Moon’.
Moving on,  there are in fact different versions of the Sailor Moon story, even putting aside the various attempts at translating the story into different languages. Each version is best viewed as its own entity, sort of how there have been various versions of Sherlock Holmes that exist independently of one another.
For the sake of simplicity, I’m going to mostly keep this post to the original Japanese iterations of Sailor Moon, albeit from the point of view of an English speaking audience member.*
The main versions of the Sailor Moon story are as follows:
1) The Manga
Tumblr media
The manga iteration of Sailor Moon began around late 1991/early 1992. It includes around 50 chapters, a handful of side stories and a prequel manga of sorts called Codename: Sailor-V. There have been several different English translations of this material over the years. However, my personal recommendation would be to experience the story through the ‘Eternal Editions’. These are easily available in print and digitally. As of this writing Codename: Sailor-V is scheduled to be collected in at some point in 2021, thus collecting all the manga stories.
2) The 1992 anime
Tumblr media
This is the most famous iteration of Sailor Moon and loosely adapts the manga to the point where it is its own entity. It spans 200 episodes across five seasons, with each season being given its own subtitle. E.g. season 2 is referred to as ‘Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon R’. Additionally there were a handful of shorts and specials connected with the anime and three films. I have already compiled a watch list for the show that I hope will help you navigate everything.
Like the manga, there have been multiple efforts to subtitle the show into English, particular among fan subbing circles. However, the easiest way to watch the show with English subs is to do so via a streaming service (last I checked it was available on Hulu and Crunchyroll) or to purchase the DVDs and Blu-rays from Viz Media, although you can also purchase them digitally on Amazon.com too.
3) The musicals
Tumblr media
On and off since 1993 there have been stage musicals produced for Sailor Moon. If you ever see the term ‘Sera Myu’ being used by fans (or even official sources) understand that it’s shorthand for these musicals.
The musicals are based chiefly upon the manga and the original anime, although with some original embellishments here and there. The degree to which a musical cuts closer to the manga, or the anime or does something all its own varies from one production to another. I’m not very well read up on the musicals I must admit, but it is to my understanding that each production exists independently from one another beyond at times carrying over cast and staff members. In essence there is no particular order you need to watch the musicals in. However, if you want more info on the musicals see the below EDIT, which is more well informed than I am.
To my knowledge, (which is limited in this particular case) all the musicals have been filmed but there has never been any kind of official English release for them. There have however been fan subbed efforts made for all of them.
4) The 2003 live action TV show
Tumblr media
In fan circles this show is referred to as ‘Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon’ or ‘Pretty Guardian’ or ‘PGSM’. This is because it was the first piece of Sailor Moon media to bear that particular English translation of ‘Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon’. Basically if you see ‘Pretty Guardian’ or ‘PGSM’, understand it is referencing this show.
The show exclusively adapts the ‘Dark Kingdom’ storyline, the first storyline in every version of Sailor Moon. The show was made in a similar vein to shows like Kamen Rider or Super Sentai and the latter’s American adaptation, Power Rangers. However, it also incorporates elements of Japanese soap opera dramas too, original elements that were never in any version of Sailor Moon beforehand and many different spins on the plot points that had been covered before.
To my knowledge, like Sera Myu, no official English release for this show exists, but English fansubs are out there somewhere. If you manage to find the show then you should watch the various episodes and specials in their original broadcast order. For this Wikipedia is your friend.
5) Sailor Moon Crystal
Tumblr media
Sporadically since 2014 a new Sailor Moon anime has been in production. This new anime cuts much closer to the original manga (although it still makes some changes ) than any other version of Sailor Moon. As of this writing, the show has yet to be completed and still has material from the manga left to adapt. The show is available to watch with English subtitles from the same sources as the original 1992 anime, including DVDs and Blu-Rays from Viz Media.
Like the original anime, Crystal’s story arcs and seasons have gone under different names. The first two seasons/arcs are officially just called ‘Sailor Moon Crystal’, whilst the third is explicitly titled ‘Sailor Moon Crystal Season III’. In place of a fourth season two films, Sailor Moon: Eternal Part 1 and Part 2, were produced. As of this writing, the Eternal films have yet to have any kind of English release. To make your life easier, watch this show in the order of the original air/release dates. Just remember the Eternal films are to be viewed after Season III.
Which version should you start with?
Whilst that is how the franchise breaks down, it is not the order a Sailor Moon newbie should try experiencing it in.
My personal recommendation would be to begin with the original 1992 anime and then move on to any of the other versions from there. This is because the original anime is aimed at a younger audience and was incredibly influential on basically every other version of the story.
However, if 200 episodes or more is too intimidating for you, then simply check out the manga. It’s far shorter, skewed a bit older and tells a concise and complete story.
And if you are still apprehensive then I’d highly recommend watching the first Sailor Moon film, Sailor Moon R The Movie. This is a very good film unto itself but it is a microcosm of the characters and themes that define the franchise as a whole. If you dislike this Sailor Moon just isn’t for you.
P.S. If you are simply dead set against subtitles then you should know the original 1992 anime and Crystal have in fact been dubbed into English by Viz Media. In fact, the first four seasons of the original anime, along with the first three films, have two English dubs, variously produced by DiC, Cloverway and Pioneer. These dubs were made in the 1990s and early 2000s and are currently not legally available anywhere.
*Things get more complicated when we consider that even in Japan there have been updated and altered versions of the Sailor Moon manga, anime, etc. We aren’t going to worry about that in this post though. They exist and maybe someday you might be inclined to check them out, but you know...baby steps...
EDIT #1: The following information comes from https://euribear.tumblr.com/
Just something I want to add on about the Sailor Moon Musicals.
If you see a musical with the word Kaiteiban (revision) at the end of the name, that means it’s a revised version of the previous musical. Things added or taken away, different cast members at times, etc.
Also, there are three musicals (technically four) that have a continuous storyline. Starring Miyuki Kanbe as Sailor Moon, Last Dracul, Transylvania no Mori (and its Kaiteiban), and Death Vulcan should be viewed in order.
The Bandai era of musicals were from 1993 to 2005.
The Nelke musicals started in 2014 and there was one each year for five years. One musical for each arc of the manga.
There are also the NogiMyu. These are musicals that solely focus on the Dark Kingdom arc and they star various members of the pop idol group Nogizazaka46.
There were two teams of cast members for the inner senshi for both years, 2018 and 2019. The same story overall, just different actresses.
There was also Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon The Super Live. My personal favorite, this was a musical performed only a few times. A couple of days in Japan in 2018 and then once in Paris in 2019 and then in Washington D.C. and later in NYC. I got to see this in person on one of the three showings in NYC. A dream come true. Unfortunately, this was never recorded, though they did release an instrumental musical album of the show.

'It is not the quality of the desired object that gives us pleasure, but rather the energy of our appetites'
~ Charles Baudelaire, The end of Don Juan
A dejected summer, that's what it was. The suffocating air that leaves you sweltering in your corset but I am anything but, naked on my cold feet with a cigar between those gentil fingers, sluggishly looking out from my apartment window into the florid affluent streets which were once quite and reserved. The sounds of playful squabbling, the occasional delightful squeals of children, the ecstatic laughter of women did nothing to soothe that covetous feeling throbbing at the pit of my stomach. Nor did the family of stars splattered all across the dark night sky with the dazzling moon nowhere to be seen. They seemed to be mocking me with every sparkle, impersonating my woe by disappearing this second only to come back and laugh at my face. Oh well. It hurts my chest as I exhale out the smog; I forgot that I even took a drag. Not even smoke can replace that void in my lungs now.
This moment is slightly pleasant though, accompanied by the crisp breeze that blows in through the drapes, strong enough to make my locks flutter and trigger my cigar to litter on the window railing (that I'm not bothering to clean anytime soon) but not enough to take the glum away with it. The only thing that found me pleasant enough to return. And... the troubled men that found home in my cosy and welcoming bed. Neither of them were guaranteed.
Thinking about men, I glance back into the dark room to spot the man I chose for the night. Blissfully sound asleep between my covers, with a small but radiant smile adorning his regal face. He really emulated the beautiful night sky, the baby constellation spreading across his portrait in the form of les grains de beauté. The way the light reflected off of his unblemished face puts la lune to shame, almost looking as if it is it's own light source. His beauty truly was bewitching and I would've felt envious of it if I didn't know any better.
If I didn't own an enormous dressing mirror in the corner which kept reflecting the street lights back onto my eyes; it was adorned with pink crystals, fresh roses and myrtles, white feathers and burnt out incense that left behind a soft but strong scent. It truly looked like an altar for venus herself, towering over me to have me take a look at the highly sexual, supremely confident, alluring female that offers endless pleasure and a bit of... danger. At least, that's what people men see. And I agree with it. I know the expression does sound like something that would come out of Narcissus' mouth as he stares into his reflection but can you really blame me?
It's the huge impact left on me by years and years of society misjudging me as just another pretty face in the crowd. No matter how hard I worked on something, it would always be de-emphasized. All the blood, sweat and tears only to be wasted because individuals couldn't see the nimble brain past the pleasant portrait. I wanted to stand out, and I did at times but.. not in the way I wanted to. But soon enough, I began to convince myself that maybe this isn't so bad at all, and wearily...
... I accepted it.
I accepted my place in the stupid community as one of those women, a blood sucking succubus is just how they saw me to be exact. Mind you, I've never stood sturdy in any of my subjects until I slowly started to abuse my power and it made me feel competent and sure enough I felt powerful enough to destroy families, to get someone to chase me so feverishly that they lose control but I guess I was never that valuable to keep nor was I important enough for someone to actually care about me. The only difference between your pompous narrator here and a poor mistress is that I don't have a fickle of hope nor do I really care enough about a particular visitor to be left heartbroken.
It still kills me to feel impotent at the end of the day (or the start of the day, when they leave me with nothing). I feel like THE FOOL, a frail dog chasing a car....
....But as the lonely sun finally decides to set to rest and the family of stars gets more discernable with every shimmer against the dark and misty horizon; I, once again find myself repeating history as if my life's a record on the phonograph. But as one get sick of listening to the same song over and over again, there's a momentary pause... and then an appalling revelation; it's seems as though you've been singing the most important part of the song, the chorus, wrong.
And suddenly I can grasp it all..
.
.
.
You see, lust is what makes one take a glance at you. Temptation is what makes them throw caution in the air, when they know they shouldn't. But is it really enough to keep the attention on you? Is the beauty really enough for the sirens who beckon sailors to their destruction? If that was the case, wouldn't mermaids be able to do the same? Love is-
"...h-hey?"
That deep voice...
Then suddenly, lean icy fingers grabbed my arm and pulled me back into reality just when I started inching through the darkness in my mind.
Oh God. How did I not see him wake up? Especially with the mess he made in an effort to get up from the bed? One of the pillows accompanied with the sheets are on the floor... those velvet covers are really hard to wash. I will never forgive him for that.
But my irritation soon turned into embarrassment when I pondered over how crazy I must have looked, naked while just staring into my mirror with a cigar in hand. Or what was left of it, the soft ash on my fingers, my bare breasts and one of my thighs.
"Is everything a-alright?" He questioned. I looked down to his palm which was still holding my arm with a firm grip. He followed my gaze, his eyes widening slighting as he quickly let it go. "I m-mean, you were kind of dazed off or something. I thought..." he muttered after clearing his throat in a futile attempt at ceasing the stuttering. "Yeah.. I was just thinking about something" I replied as I looked up at his eyes and his orbs that were just suffering with nervousness and uncertainty were now swimming in curiosity. I couldn't help but let a giggle get past my lips. He hummed in response as his brows furrowed. "about.. this." I uttered, feigning a bashful look. His brows furrowed even further, creating small lines on his otherwise smooth forehead. "What do you mean by "this" ?" He seems to have forgotten his tense stance and the risqué side of me wanted to bring it back so I tried. "Our liaison, everything we did and...." if it weren't for the pin drop silence in the room, I would've never heard his breath hitching as he waited for me to continue. "Us." I finished with a whisper...
... After what seemed like an eternity of waiting for him to answer, my patience wore thin so I couldn't help but gently poke his chest. It surely did broke the trance he was in and the cute timid man was back. "Uh- I- uhm" he stuttered, looking at everything but my presence. I slowly started to feel the disappointment building up in the bottom of my stomach. Why do I when I didn't even expected anything else? If this is the only way it can go for me, why not have a little fun? I couldn't help but let out a smirk which I covered in a second, hoping he didn't see it. "I might be quite racy at times but I don't just do this with anyone. I thought I told you in the tavern that if you are to leave, leave already..." as soon as I finished bluffing the sadness in my voice, I casted my eyes downwards at his feet as I anticipated the same white lies but they never came. I awaited the "I will never leave you", "you're the best thing that ever happened" or my personal favorite one " I have a wife and kids that I love very dearly" but he didn't say anything. And just as I was about to look up, the smooth dark honey voice cut me off.
"And I thought I told you that I didn't want to follow you back home for whatever fleshly pleasures you had to offer.." the hint of disappointment was evident. This was a new one to add in the book, eh? "But because my precious cameras are all in vain without your figure and your lively soul.. like an empty canvas to an artist with no references or muse." My ears couldn't help but perk up as he continued, " Sure, they might not be too good at capturing the enigma that is you as the films only render in shades of grey which evidently fails to recognize the different shades of your blush and the undertones, but this is all that I have..."
It's his time to wait as I, for the first time, didn't know what to say. He opened his lips once again "I would be lying if I said I didn't gravely fell in love the second I took my first glance at you months ago. Love at first sight was never my thing but you cleared all my doubts about the idea". I wanted to mock him and tell him about how lust in first sight is a thing, not love but I rather chose to humor him. "That's what they all said..." I slowly look up at his face, looking at each and every feature carefully leaving out his mors than intense eyes. "Who are "they"?" He asked with a slight fury in his voice and the sharp edge of the words spoken almost gashed my already tainted soul. I wish I didn't faked the courage and take a glance into his orbs since I saw the immense anger and hatred through his narrowed eyes as he scrutinized my very existence. I withered uncomfortably under his glare, already regretting opening my mouth without thinking.
"You seriously didn't just compare me to those men, did you? After everything I've done? After I got rid of those hideous women that had nothing else to do but spread nasty rumours about you because the same husbands that couldn't get it up for them were lusting after you? Because they couldn't hold their husbands accountable so they were threatened by you?" He took a sharp but shaky breath before continuing, "Or after I got rid of those men who bonded over their heinous fantasies about violating you?..." I cover my mouth, I feel like throwing up. Not because I don't want to/can't believe it but because this is alot of information to take in in a few minutes. I heard him sigh and his voice suddenly changed from being gruff to soft in a second as he saw my terrified look, "you see these hands, sweetheart?" He said in a slightly coaxing voice as he laid his large hand on top of mine, "They were only used to clicking pictures of everything beautiful and developing them but now, they're stained with shed blood of anyone who dared to lay a finger on you.... You made me this way. You made me so empathetically challenged. You did this."
Me? Me...
I did this. I made him this way.
"How could you have been so blind?"
How could I have been so blind?
Maybe I didn't give myself enough credit.
And as he continued to stare into my frame with such adoration that it reminded me of what I was thinking about before he startled me by waking up...
As I was saying previously, lust is what makes one take a glance at you. Temptation is what makes them throw caution in the air, when they know they shouldn't but it's still not enough to keep the attention on you. Love is. It is the greatest weapon of all. It's the most exceptional power that you can have over someone. Making them do what they never thought they ever would do, act in ways they might've mocked previous to meeting you, taking up any space in their mind that was left for rationality and instead plaguing it with sweet obsession. Not even fear dares to compete with love when it comes to power. If anything, they go hand in hand. It truly turns a mermaid to a siren.
Wow. It's not the family of stars that I envied, who would want to look like some aliens just jizzed all over the sky? I was made to be la lune, who with all her blemishes littering her skin still stood unfazed as her admirers wrote poems about her beauty. It's not the homely women that I envied, I have always been quite sophisticated but I just wanted to belong somewhere.
I wanted power over someone or something.
And the thought of me making this man do the most vile acts of crime that humanity cannot even begin to visualize in their brains flared up the familiar feeling of ascendency and competency but this time? It was about to stay. Why? Because he is to stay.
I softly smiled at that thought and slowly held my small hands up to his face to caress his cheeks. The shyness got to him as he squeezed his eyes shut to relish in the contact without having to look at my amused face. I could feel him slowly shaking under finger tips, his face was warm unlike the rest of his body. The effect that my small gesture had on him is unlike anything I've ever seen or experienced. This isn't vulgar, this is sensual. And sure, what I feel might not be love but it has one thing in common with it. It's a drug. A high we're both on, and not even my cigar, my only companion for so long can compete with it.
Let's see how long this lasts before I drain all life out of him... or maybe, this is forever but I doubt. Then again, he- wait a minute... what's his name, again? This is going to suck. As I was saying, he does like to surprise me so let's hope for the best.
"Okay, let's just forget we met like this... hello, my name's y/n", I reached out for his hand to shake with a small smile on my face. He erupted into giggles as he took my hand, "Nice to meet you y/n, this is taehyung." Taehyung. Oh taehyung. And suddenly the cheerful atmosphere turned into something sinister as I pulled him in.
"Taehyung, I am like a raging flame.. don't be a moth and get too close or I might destroy you" I whispered in my raspy voice, the smirk that played in my rouge lips being incredibly devilish along with that red unnatural glint in my eye.
"I want to be destroyed."

I know I keep saying 2020!Taichi is like the embodiment of Sailor Moon (and probably also every shounen protagonist trope ever?), but when we talked in discord about which Chosen Child would be which Sailor Soldier... It got really difficult at times?
Taichi:
First choice: Usagi/Moon (main character, inspiring and bringing everyone together, first to receive a power update, saves the day in the end, loved and adored by everyone, protective af, heroic and self sacrificing, will kick your ass, can be a lovable dork/knucklehead, loves to eat, lives with a cat)
Second choice: Minako/Venus (sporty and competitive leader, sometimes riddled by insecurities even if nobody notices, ALSO lives with a cat)
Yamato:
First choice: Rei/Mars (when we’re talking 90s anime, it’s the fact that they’re both butting heads with the main character and being just very easy to get to explode in certain situations; when we’re talking Crystal/Eternal, it’s about them being somewhat cynical, but also somewhat mysterious and aloof)
Second choice: ??? (probably if you mixed Seiya and Yaten together??? Maybe Haruka/Uranus in terms of how they oppose the main character at some point and question their leadership abilities)
Sora:
First choice: Makoto/Jupiter (kind mom-type with a heart of gold, trying to embrace their more feminine side while simultaneously being badass as hell and could kick your ass at any given moment, can also be silly, loves to cook, complicated relationship with love, despite being very loving)
Second choice: Rei/Mars (fiery passion, ready to jump and shout for those they love, symbolized by a phoenix)
Koushirou:
First choice: Ami/Mercury (strategist of the group, uses a computer/technology to figure out weakpoints of the enemy, kind and gentle nerd, can be silly as well, eager to learn, main character is basically their first real friend)
Second choice: Makoto/Jupiter (element of lightning, kind, protective when it comes to the ones important to them, loss of biological parents)
Mimi:
First choice: Minako/Venus (passionate and loving, fierce and ready to fight you, longs to have a comfortable, happy life for themselves and others, probably has had world domination dreams here and there, tends to gets puns/sayings wrong)
Second choice: Usagi/Moon (highly empathetic, cries for the pain of others and would also fight for their sake, not the best cook in the world, but tries her best)
Jyou:
First choice: Setsuna/Pluto (supportive in the back most of the time IF time allows for them to be there, soft spot for the youngest of the group, the tallest/oldest, sacrifices themselves for the sake of others)
Second choice: Ami/Mercury (has an affinity to study, wants to become a doctor, blue hair, element of water)
Takeru:
First choice: Chibi-Usa/Chibi-Moon (youngest of the group, wants to prove themselves and is ridden by insecurities at times, somewhat of a crybaby at first who grows into a strong fighter, gentle yet cheeky, holds tremendous powers nobody suspects at once)
Second choice: ??? (probably still Hotaru/Saturn, when we talk about how the power of darkness makes him go apeshit)
Hikari:
First choice: Hotaru/Saturn (possessed by another entity, seems to possess supernatural powers, prone to sickness yet holds tremendous powers that will be the key to defeat the enemy once their true powers awaken, soft and gentle but will sass and fight you if you hurt the ones they love, main character wants to rescue them, a good relationship with the youngest of the group)
Second choice: Chibi-Usa/Chibi-Moon (related to main character, pink colour scheme, same voice actress in Japanese version)
Does that even make sense?

Sailor Moon Crystal Recap: What You Need to Know Before Netflix’s Sailor Moon Eternal
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
Sailor Moon is one of the most well-known anime from the last 30 years. Based on a manga that first launched in 1991, the series has been adapted into a beloved 200-episode anime, several films, a live-action drama, and more recently, an anime reboot called Sailor Moon Crystal. And if that legacy weren’t enough, we can now add another film to the franchise: Sailor Moon Eternal.
What Is Sailor Moon Eternal?
As previously mentioned, Sailor Moon Eternal is the latest addition to the Sailor Moon franchise. It’s a two-part anime film based on the Dream arc of the original manga. Despite this, the production has officially dubbed this portion of the Sailor Moon saga the Dead Moon arc, named after the antagonists the Sailor Guardians face.
The film was first announced in 2017 as part of the franchise’s 25th anniversary. It’s meant to be a direct continuation of Sailor Moon Crystal, the anime reboot that concluded its third season in 2016. After some pandemic-related delays, Sailor Moon Eternal hit Japanese theaters in early 2021 before Netflix picked up the films for streaming release a few months later.
How Does Sailor Moon Crystal Connect to Sailor Moon Eternal?
Sailor Moon Crystal is the anime reboot that commemorates the manga’s 20th anniversary. The anime industry loves celebrating anniversaries of its most famous and enduring properties, in case you haven’t noticed. Typically by releasing more anime.
While the original 1990s anime took some liberties with plot and characterization, Sailor Moon Crystal stays true to the original manga. It consists of three seasons totaling 38 episodes, with each season covering a different story arc: Dark Kingdom, Black Moon, and Death Busters. While Season 3—aka the Death Busters arc—ended on a satisfactory note, it set the stage for the film with a solar eclipse that presages the arrival of a major character from the Dead Moon arc.
Think of Sailor Moon Eternal as Sailor Moon Crystal Season 4, if you like.
Do I Need to Watch Sailor Moon Crystal First?
It would probably help. There are many characters, so if you have no familiarity with Sailor Moon at all, you might have a rough time. On top of a sizable main cast, this series loves reincarnation, time travel, and multiple dimensions. Things might get confusing if you’re coming at this franchise as a brand-new viewer.
That said, if you’ve read the original manga, you should be fine.
If you’ve only watched the 1990s anime, you’ll generally be okay. The big caveat here is that some of the characterizations and relationship dynamics are different in Sailor Moon Crystal. For example, Rei Hino, aka Sailor Mars, is more aloof and serious in the manga and Sailor Moon Crystal versus the original anime where she loves chasing boys and constantly fights with Sailor Moon’s heroine, Usagi. But as long as you’re aware of those differences, fans of the first anime series can skip watching Sailor Moon Crystal if they’re short on time.
I’m adventurous and know nothing about Sailor Moon. What basics should I know?
How brave! The biggest thing to know is that the entire series revolves around the concept of Sailor Guardians. Sailor Guardians are teenage girls who are given special powers connected to planets throughout the universe. For the Sailor Guardians protected by planets from our solar system, sometimes the powers are elemental in nature. Other times, the powers are related to classical mythology.
The other major thing to know is that our heroine, Usagi Tsukino, is royalty. She’s the reincarnation of a princess from the Moon Kingdom. That’s right. Sometime in the past, there existed a kingdom on the moon. In the future, she becomes the guardian queen of Earth that ushers it into a sort of golden age. These past and future identities serve as focal points for plotlines throughout the entire series.
Can You Give Me a Sailor Moon Crystal Recap?
As mentioned earlier, Sailor Moon Crystal is divided into three seasons.
Season 1 covers the Dark Kingdom storyline. This arc introduces us to Usagi Tsukino, who discovers she’s both Sailor Moon and the reincarnation of Princess Serenity of the Moon Kingdom. It also introduces us to the inner Sailor Guardians—Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter, and Sailor Venus—who are Sailor Moon’s closest allies. In addition, we meet Usagi’s love interest, Mamoru Chiba, who happens to be the reincarnation of Prince Endymion. Princess Serenity and Prince Endymion had a tragic, star-crossed romance and you better believe that influences their present incarnations. Together, they all fight the Dark Kingdom, which was responsible for the destruction of the Moon Kingdom in the past and wants to take over the Earth in the present.
If Season 1 focuses on preventing a repetition of past tragedies, Season 2 is about averting future annihilation. After the events of the Dark Kingdom arc, Usagi and her friends are living their best, peaceful lives. That changes when Chibi-usa, Usagi and Mamoru’s daughter from the future, appears. She’s traveled back in time to find the means to save her mother. Hot on her heels is the Black Moon clan, who destroyed the future Earth that Chibi-usa came from. The Black Moon arc also introduces us to Sailor Pluto, a Sailor Guardian with the ability to control time.
The Death Busters arc, or Season 3, adapts the Infinity storyline of the manga. Chibi-usa has stayed in the present day to train to be a Sailor Guardian. Here we meet more Sailor Guardians from our solar system: Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune. After sacrificing her life in the previous story arc, Sailor Pluto has also incarnated in the present timeline. Along with Sailor Moon and the inner Sailor Guardians, they fight the Death Busters, alien invaders from another dimension. Central to the plot is Hotaru Tomoe, who is the key to the Death Busters’ invasion plans but also happens to be the incarnation of Sailor Saturn, who has the ability to destroy the world.
How Does Sailor Moon Crystal Lead into Sailor Moon Eternal?
After using her abilities, Hotaru has been reincarnated as a baby. Sailors Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto leave to raise her as the coolest queer family unit ever. Having completed her Sailor Guardian training, Chibi-usa is ready to return to the future. But before she goes, she accompanies Usagi and Mamoru to watch the solar eclipse. As the moon begins to cover the sun, however, both Usagi and Chibi-usa hear a mysterious bell, setting the stage for Sailor Moon Eternal.
Expect to see all these characters return for Sailor Moon Eternal, along with a whole new set of villains plus one notable ally.
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
Sailor Moon Eternal streams on Netflix on June 3rd. All 3 seasons of Sailor Moon Crystal are currently streaming on Crunchyroll, Hulu, and Amazon Prime.
