Frozen (2013)
❄️🏰
Loosely inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s The Snow Queen, this animated fantasy musical from Walt Disney Pictures tells the story of Princess Anna and her estranged sister Elsa, who accidentally sets off a wintry curse upon their kingdom. After Elsa flees up the mountains, Anna sets off on a quest with the help of iceman Kristoff, his reindeer companion Sven and a living snowman named Olaf to bring her home and put an end to the perpetually cold weather.
An impressive voice cast includes: Kristen Bell as Anna, Broadway star Idina Menzel as Elsa, Josh Gad as Olaf and Jonathan Groff as Kristoff.
Kristen Bell gives a strong vocal performance as a fearless Disney Princess determined to go the extra mile to reunite with her sister. Idina Menzel’s singing is incredibly powerful to the extent that she belts out the perfect tone long enough to resonate within your senses. Josh Gad (who also played LeFou in the live-action version of Beauty and the Beast) is the perfect example of a comic relief/sidekick who’s a symbol of both cheerfulness and innocence. Jonathan Groff (another Broadway actor/singer) is just as brilliant vocally as his performances onstage.
The animation is magically breathtaking with its state-of-the-art technology. The characters are freshly designed to appear traditional, yet behave like people of modern society, the backgrounds are created in artistically inclined detail and the formations of snow and ice are down to a science (especially Olaf’s ability to disassemble and reassemble himself all at once).
The film softens the serious aspects of the original fairy tale (Hans Christian Andersen was known to have written dark themes in his stories), turning it into a charming narrative. The Snow Queen character was originally a mysterious, cold-hearted figure in the book, whereas Elsa is a misunderstood heroine who lives in fear of her seemingly uncontrollable powers. Furthermore, the movie provides a complicated sibling connection between its two main protagonists while the original story focused on a close friendship between two childhood friends (one of whom is a girl named Gerda, who Anna is loosely based on).
The movie even contains some unexpected surprises. Anna and Elsa were playmates in their childhood, but grew up separately to keep Anna safe from Elsa’s icy touch. As Elsa keeps herself isolated so as not to harm anyone, the villain is not revealed until the third act. Anna and Kristoff form an unusual but interesting friendship apart from other relationships between a man and a woman in previous Disney films.
The soundtrack is packed with a list of show tune songs: “Frozen Heart”, “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?”, “For the First Time in Forever”, “Love Is an Open Door”, “Let It Go” (which won the Oscar for Best Original Song and has become a cultural phenomenon in Disney history), “Reindeer(s) Are Better Than People” (during which Kristoff changes his voice to sing for Sven in between despite the reindeer’s own communication), “In Summer” (when Olaf expresses his desire to participate in the sunshine) and “Fixer Upper”. A pop version of “Let It Go” performed by Demi Lovato is heard as well.
Finally, the true message of the story is no matter how terrible the consequences might turn out to be, love is greater than any source of power on Earth. All in all, I deeply recommend this amazing Best Animated Feature Oscar winner to every fan of both ancient tales and Disney entertainment.

what’s Thyra’s Eternal Winter like in the Stand AU?
Way less thirsty than Elsa's. Thyra's Eternal Winter is a bit of a mischievous troll. Loves playing pranks and snooping around. Consistently tries to head pat Saviour and Ragnarok since she knows she won't get stabbed. She is often spotted with an ornate set of weaponised fans that she likes to use to emphasise her speech. The fans are based on Dia operatic weapon fans. Some observers have noted that the last Eternal Winter to sport such fans belonged to Her Imperial Majesty Vanille I.
She has two fans, one for each hand although she often only holds one at a time with the other stored at her waist or simply not summoned. The fan for her right hand bears the Yun word for 'justice' when unfolded and the fan for her left hand bears the Yun word for 'truth'.
Incidentally, when Eternal Winter feels the need to exert her tyranny, she will typically threaten or actually whack people with the fan in her right hand. When she is teasing people and being trollish, she will use the fan in her left hand.

Peter Quill: You seemed pretty casual about me returning from space like it was no big deal
Grandpa Quill: Please, compared to the other stuff that’s happened on Earth these past few years, you returning from space is nothing
Peter: Oh yeah, I guess after the snap anything’s normal
Grandpa: You better believe it. Did you know they added Captain America’s shield to the Statue of Liberty?
Peter: That’s unexpected but it’s not too weird
Grandpa: A witch placed a whole town in New Jersey under some spell and mind-controlled them into acting in her sitcom
Peter: Okay that’s fucked up
Grandpa: One day the sky turned back 2000 years
Peter: This is NOT normal
Grandpa: There’s an entire race of humans that live and breathe underwater
Peter: Please stop
Grandpa: Werewolves and vampires are real, always have been apparently
Peter: Is this what a midlife crisis feels like?
Grandpa: Oh, don’t forget djinn, they’re out there too
Peter: I’m just gonna stop listening
Grandpa: A newborn Celestial emerged from the ocean and got immediately petrified, then another Celestial showed up a few days later, it was larger than the entire planet
Peter: Alright that’s it, we’re moving to another planet right now
Grandpa: Oh and rumor has it the entire multiverse is in danger of falling apart, we’re not safe anywhere
Peter: FUCK!
