The other day this week I got a nagging feeling that there is something on September 17, but what? Hmm. No, my friend's eldest son's birthday is on October 16, not 17, not September. What could it be?

Oh, right, it's Revolution birthday!

Gah, in some aspects this show and this fandom saved my life, especially the people (you know who you are, I hope)* who reached out over the years when I was struggling and offered kind words and compassion and encouragement that pulled me back from across the world.

It's funny how after 18 years of being unable to learn about evolution at all, I actually find it really interesting now. Like I've always loved animals and now I can also look at them with a different (and imo more satisfying) perspective of wondering what those same animals will be in the future and what they were in the past and what the practical implications of their characteristics might be and stuff.

Like it just feels like there's so much more to know. And even though I have a million questions that aren't answered yet, it's still better than not even having questions because the basic principles I was trying to understand didn't make sense and I wasn't allowed to ask the questions I really needed to

#i was encouraged to ask questions but in reality that was a surface level thing #because when i or anyone else actually did ask the questions it was met with either #a repetitive or simplistic response and then dismissal OR blatant questioning of your faith #which basically equivalates to saying you have no morals and should die over and over again for eternity #idk how universal that may or may not be though since i really only interacted with people in my specific religious group #but yeah basically asking questions was very unfulfilling at best and condemning at worst #really depends on how 'stubborn' you want to be about the questions and/or what type of questions #and also how good you are at phrasing questions to eliminate the possibility of offending your religious leader/peers #which for anyone who has never had to do that... can be extremely hard

I never play Genshin with audio on bc I hate Paimon’s voice and she never stops TALKING

This is not helped by the fact that Genshin fully thinks you are a helpless idiot

#GIRLIE. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO OVER EXPLAIN FUCKING EVERYTHING #she’s supposed to be an audience surrogate for the questions they may ask but since she asks the most obvious questions known to man #she just seems like an annoying idiot who never shuts up #her characterization is loose and not well established bc she’ll change her personality depending on what questions ‘need’ to be asked #even though the answers are PAINFULLY OBVIOUS #she then overexplains what has already been explained and recaps what has JUST BEEN TOLD #she doesn’t have fun banter with anyone because it’s the same dynamic every! single! time!#she asks stupid questions. the character explains. she continues to ask stupid questions. traveler makes a snarky remark. she gets offended #sometimes if the character has the personality for it they rile her up and she gets annoyed with them #even though 9 times outta 10 they weren’t actually being that annoying and she had to break character for it to happen #(like why would Paimon give a fuck about immortality and why would she get annoyed that the sentient snake doesn’t want her to be her host?#why would Paimon even want to be a host in the first place??)#i KNOOOOW Genshin is the game where everybody is gimmicky and no one has more than 2 personality traits but it’s frustrating #and also the cutscenes that start out of nowhere just to deliver stupidly obvious information… thanks Paimon I didn’t fucking need it #whyyyyy does every story quest have a cutscene every 5 steps that tells you Exactly What Just Happened even though we HAVE EYES #I was genuinely shocked when I played Yelan’s story quest simply because it was the ONE TIME you weren’t outright told all the information #like. the information was still painfully obvious but Paimon wasn’t screaming it in your ear #Paimon is eternally confused. how does she even breathe without someone telling her exactly how to do it?#snack time #genshin impact #tag rant

Interesting quote and a common sentiment, so let’s unpack this:

we know henry also had mistresses while married to c/oa, but...

w/eir et al insist she was the perfect wife, that she never argued with him (the latter of which is not even true, we have contemporary observation otherwise, even before the GM, but accepting the premise for the sake of argument)

so... was it in response to ' tantrums' or was it just henry and a pattern already established?

bcus in the very limited way they acknowledge her upset (which is generally just limited to the elevation of his mistress' son)

the infidelity is offensive but not the central point of the anger, not enough to risk loss of influence to fight against it

it is not written about as a 'tantrum' (nor should it be, i’m merely pointing out the double standard), it is the noble, righteous purpose of her wanting to preserve her rights and that of her daughter

these incidents don’t receive the same treatment even though their context is similar, bcus...at least two of henry's mistresses while he was married to anne were supporters of her opponent (mary, also a threat to her daughter’s status)

so... was it 'tantrums' or was she also not going down without a fight because she viewed them as risking her and elizabeth's security ?

but it doesn't get the same treatment.

and the anne hastings thing with catherine does seem more personal but i digress , it is definitely not spoken of as a 'tantrum' either (nor should it be, again, i’m just pointing out the different language that tends to be used, and the blame cast upon anne & not her predecessor)

what i find really gross here is the implication and double negative inherent within

henry would not have taken mistresses while married to anne if she had more submissive, calmer

dignified even

but catherine was the perfect wife and model of queenly dignity and never said a harsh word to or against him

so... interesting to imply to avoid this she should have been 'more like catherine ' (again, whatever that means) when...it also happened to catherine?

we have a disrespectful comment but no actual record (altho it was a very short space of time) of henry taking mistresses while married to jane s/eymour

but no one says shit like coa should have been more like JS

yet i have seen people argue JS was emulating catherine and that's why he didn't cheat on her..... while forgetting he did cheat on catherine??

He merely wants the idea of Daisy he fabricated inside his head forever ago.#And he lashes out to the point of offense whenever Aurora doesn't conform to the script he has for her #He refuses to admit she is the kind of Daisy who...Kidnaps Rebekah.#Tristan exists at this strange point where he is sometimes the one reassuring Aurora she is indeed that person. And that's just perfect.#He “has no doubt she can burn the entire world to dry the oceans”#She “should remember she can do anything.”#But simultaneously he is still going to be insanely worried and murderous about Aurora suffering a bruise whenever she massacres a city.#Because she is just so much more important to him that everything else that surrounds her. Read a bunch of stuff about being genderfluid and I guess I can rule that out. It seems like the agab of genderfluid folks is still something they identify with and feel comfortable with at times, whenever they fluctuate that way.
