The dominant myth in the evangelical church today is that the success of Christianity depends on how popular it is, and that the kingdom of God and the glory of Christ somehow advance on the back of public favor.

December 2023: "In Bethlehem, the city of Christ's birth, Lutherans lit advent candles around a nativity surrounded by rubble, as God's children in Gaza still are today. God sent his only Son to be with us in times of doubt, fear, and grief. God is with them in Bethlehem, He is with His children in Gaza, and He is with his children under the rubble."

ngl i’ve experienced more harassment as a jew from antitheist ex evangelicals than i have from christians. i actually feel much safer around the christians in the church choir i work for than i do edgy atheists bc the church choir ladies will give me cookies and hanukkah cards while the edgy atheists will tell my queer trans ass that i’m homophobic and in a cult.

So much of my work rn is making me a direct audience to Palestinian Christians who are begging, pleading even, for our help. Christians, you do not get to look away from this. They are incredibly clear about what they need: ceasefire, prayers, protection. Do not look away, do not look away, do not look away.

it’s very funny to talk about Christianity with my best friend, because some part of me is so ridiculously Catholic it refuses to learn anything about the Christian denominations that make up her research. I swear she’s explained the difference between Methodists and Presbyterians eight separate times, but not a single thing stuck because some pre-Vatican II neuron was too busy slamming pots and pans together while screaming ONE HOLY CATHOLIC AND APOSTALIC
