kiss ask: 8 bojure:))
This idea popped into my mind the moment I read this request and I literally couldn't wait to finally write it, so... hope you like it as much as I loved writing it 🫶
Send me a Ship and a Number and I will Write a Kiss
8. …in secrecy.
Bojan and Jure had been dating for... well, quite a while now.
That didn't mean everyone knew about it, though. In fact, no one did.
Bojan still laughed every time he remembered the conversation that had led them to this situation.
They were lying on the couch at Jure's house after what had started as a friend's get-together but had ended up being their first date. Jure was lying on his back on the couch, Bojan lying on top of him, his head resting on the drummer's chest and their legs entangled with each other. The blond was running his fingers through his now boyfriend's hair, delicately untangling the knots that had been formed in it over the course of the evening, when the singer spoke up.
“Do you think we should tell the guys already or...?” He asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
It's not that he was afraid of not being accepted. At the end of the day, they knew their friends would be more than supportive of their decision and would most likely be very happy for them, but he wanted to know that the other was ready to make the move as well. They were together, after all.
“Actually, I was thinking…” began Jure, letting out a little chuckle before continuing, “What if we don't tell them anything and wait to see how long it takes for them to figure it out?”
Bojan seemed to think about it for a moment and then giggled. “Okay, that could be fun.”
“Who do you think is going to be the first to notice?”
“Oh, probably Nace. He's always looking after everyone, he'll notice for sure,” the brunet stated.
“Nace? Nah, he's too busy staring at Jan,” Jure said as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. Bojan let out an amused chuckle. “My money’s on Kris - that man knows everything. I can literally feel him looking at me like he knows all my secrets every time I do something.”
“The Guštin Stare,” they both exclaimed at the same time, bursting into laughter right away.
Once the laughter subsided, the singer propped himself up with his hands on either side of Jure's torso, looking him in the eye.
“Though I can't assure you it's going to take them too long to figure it out,” he smiled, licking his lip.
“Uhmm and why's that?” The drummer asked, his hands coming to rest on Bojan's ass, squeezing it teasingly and giving him his big sunshine smile.
“Well, you see... I don't think I'll be able to keep my hands off you now that you're all mine,” Bojan whispered, his lips ghosting against the older's.
“Oh yeah? I guess there's only one way to find out then,” Jure declared, closing the distance between them with a kiss that made Bojan feel warm all over.
It turns out that Bojan had been wrong.
After two months in which they hadn't been all that subtle – holding hands, using affectionate nicknames, cuddling on the studio couch or backstage before and after concerts, occasionally sharing kisses, hugging each other from behind, or arriving at a rehearsal together with hickeys that clearly screamed "we spent the night together" being a few examples of how the weeks had gone by – neither of them had mentioned a single word about it.
Okay, it’s not like they were full-on making out in front of them, and yeah, they all did kiss each other every now and then just because, but come on… They couldn’t be that oblivious, could they?
Except apparently, they could.
After another successful concert, everyone was hanging out backstage. Jure was talking about something with Kiki, while Bojan was having a conversation with Damon.
What was the conversation about, you might wonder. Well, Bojan wouldn't know the answer to that question, if he was being completely honest. Not when his eyes couldn't stop wandering over to the blond across the room, shirtless and wearing big chains on his torso, his hair disheveled and eyeliner a bit messy.
He looked so damn good, and Bojan needed to do something about it ASAP.
Taking advantage of a moment when Damon turned to say something to Kris, Bojan excused himself and walked over to where the drummer was standing.
“Jure, honey, can you come with me for a moment, please?” Bojan asked as soon as he was by his side.
“Comin’ baby,” beamed Jure.
Once they were out of the common room, the singer grabbed him by the hand, dragging him along the corridors at a somewhat hurried pace.
“Where are you taking us, pup?” asked Jure, but he got no answer from the brunet, who seemed to be too busy looking for something.
As soon as he found what he was looking for – what had turned out to be an empty room – Bojan quickly dragged him inside, shutting the door behind them.
Before his brain could register it, Jure found himself with his back leaning against the door, Bojan's arms on either side of his face and his lips pressed against his in a fierce, hungry kiss, their tongues dancing together in a now all too familiar rhythm.
Quicker than Jure would have pleased, Bojan broke the kiss, starting a trail of kisses and nibbles down his jaw towards his neck, the soft, wet touch of his lips contrasting with the almost sharp graze of his teeth against his skin.
The singer grabbed a bit of skin in an area where he knew Jure was quite sensitive, pulling it a little between his teeth; not enough to leave a mark – after all, they still had more gigs to play and he knew that the ever shirtless drummer wearing a turtleneck on stage would raise suspicions – but enough to make the blond's knees go weak.
“Fuck, Bojan,” he breathed out, tilting his head back against the door to grant him more access.
“God, do you know what you're doing to me?” the other muttered, grabbing his hand and guiding it so he could feel his dick already half-hard inside his pants, causing Jure to draw in a shaky breath. “All day without getting to touch you, feel you, and having to see you like this, looking so fucking hot, just for me… but they don't know that, do they?” Bojan continued, his mind hazy with want.
And Jure wanted to tell him, to let him know that yes, it's just for you and you're driving me crazy too and please don't stop, you're making me feel so good, but the moment was cut short when they heard footsteps in the hallway.
Startled, Bojan stopped his actions and pulled away slightly. Jure's hands came to rest on the younger's shoulder blades, pulling him close again, warm bodies pressing against each other, trying to catch their breath as they waited for the footsteps to move away.
“You weren't completely wrong I guess,” said Jure, still a little out of breath.
“What?” Bojan asked, confused.
“About not being able to keep your hands off me,” he teased.
“Well yeah, I warned you,” Bojan smiled, his thumbs rubbing circles on either side of Jure's waist. “About the other part though…”
“They are really oblivious, aren't they?” Jure laughed, amused. “Like, okay, I understand Jan and Nace because they’re too deep into each other’s asses to even notice whatever is going on around them; but Kris?!”
“At this point I think we'll have to fuck in front of them or something for them to realize we're together,” joked the singer.
“I mean…”
“No. Stop there.”
“Just saying… Maybe they're into that,” he shrugged.
“We're not having sex in front of our friends, muca,” Bojan stated, a hint of a blush creeping up his cheeks.
“A blowjob?”
“Jureee.”
“Okay, okay, fine,” Jure said, raising his hands in surrender and making them both burst into laughter.

WAIT CAN WE HAVE THE FIRST TIME JAX SAW REGULUS CRY PLEASE PLEASE IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY
(bonus points if they comfort him)
Tumblr media
 Fic O'Ween Day 4: Dead End, or three times Regulus almost cried in front of his friends and one time he actually did. Thanks to @noots-fic-fests for compiling all these amazing submissions, and to @lumosinlove for a tragically beautiful Regulus <3 Jax, Kris, and Vanessa are OCs of mine!
TW for injury, and canon shitty treatment at the hands of the Snakes
I.
Regulus was really good at not crying. Not crying was the easiest thing in the world. Instead of letting himself get worked up until he spilled over, he could just…not do that. He could swallow it down. Choke it back. The problem was that once he started crying, he couldn’t stop, and since nobody would care either way, it wasn’t worth the effort and embarrassment. He was a grown man. He’d been through worse.
Worse than a B minus, at least.
He was pretty sure.
“Hey, you okay?”
“Yes, I’m fine,” he answered mildly. “And yourself?”
Jax’s mouth turned down at the sides. “Uh, can’t complain. What’s…what’s going on?”
Regulus shrugged one shoulder. He couldn’t bring himself to close the tab of his failure. “Preparing for the week.”
“Right.” Jax didn’t sound like they believed him. Unfortunate. He used to be a much better liar.
“I always do that.”
“I know.”
Odd. He hadn’t expected them to know his habits. It had only been three months.
“You seem—” Jax broke off, setting their bag down on the floor with an unusually delicate touch. They leaned against the edge of their desk and gave him a funny look. “Do you want to talk?”
Regulus’ gut twisted on reflex. “About what?”
It came out too harsh—they shrank back slightly, shoulders drooping, dark eyes flicking away. He should apologize. He should.
“What would you like to talk about?” he tried instead.
“Dunno.” That was another thing he was getting used to: the way people started speaking just to speak, to fill the silence. Jax rarely second-guessed their words. Even now, they shifted their weight from one hip to the other only once before beginning again. “I was at the gym this afternoon.”
A strange thing to note. He waited for them to continue; when they didn’t, he mustered an encouraging noise.
“So if you’re ever interested…”
“You want me to come with you?”
“Well, I—if you’re interested—”
“Why would you want that?” What was it about college that made people so vague?
Jax gestured at him with one hand. “I don’t know! You’re in good shape, I guess I figured you were there anyways. And it seems dumb to go at different times when we live together.”
“But then we don’t have to argue for the shower.”
Regulus wasn’t always good at facial expressions, but even he could read the exasperation (though not irritation) in the set of Jax’s eyes and mouth. “I want to spend time with you,” they said bluntly. Kindly. Almost like Sirius, without his awkwardness. They tilted their head to look at him. “You don’t have to, but we haven’t had a lot of time to just hang out. I’m going for a shared hobby here, man.”
Hobby. Regulus didn’t recall the last time he worked out for fun. Never, probably. Running out his feelings on a treadmill made him less likely to curl up under his blankets in a screaming possum ball, but it wasn’t necessarily fun.
In his periphery, his computer screen dimmed. His heart went with it when he wiggled his computer mouse and the reminder of everything bad in the world glared back. “I don’t know if I can,” he said carefully. “I just failed out of English, so I should probably focus on that.”
“Wh—” Jax’s eyebrows shot toward their hairline before knitting in the middle. “How do you know that? It’s not the end of the semester.”
Regulus jerked his chin toward the screen. They followed his gaze. Looked back at him. Back to the computer. Back to Regulus.
“You’re looking at me like that explains everything,” they finally said.
“It’s a. Um.” Bitterness filled his mouth. “B minus.”
“And?”
Are you stupid? Regulus bit his tongue hard enough to make his eyes water. “It’s a B minus,” he repeated. “And so they’re going to kick me out.”
Jax let out a long breath, as if they were holding many things back. Regulus didn’t like it when they did that. He’d feel much better if they just told him they pitied him outright. “That’s not…no, that’s not how that works. Reg, no professor will fail you out of their class because of a B minus.”
The part of his brain that had been running through various explanations when he inevitably slunk back to Sirius’ doorstep came to a sputtering standstill. “Excuse me?”
“Dude, that’s not even a failing grade.”
Something next to his lungs began to shake. “Explain, please.”
“A C is considered average. You’re above average. Do you know that?” Jax’s concern crept back into their face. “It’s important to me that you know that.”
Average.
Above average.
He had been screamed at for above average. Lived in terror of doing his best and being found lacking for above average.
The fury was white-hot and all-consuming, and unexpected enough that he had to blink several times in quick succession to clear the burning from his eyes.
“Reg?”
“Excuse me,” he muttered. He tried to stand and found he couldn’t so much as twitch for fear of combustion.
“Hey.” Jax’s voice gentled. “Hey, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to upset you.”
Kindness was the cruelest thing university could have given him. It was too-tight shoes and a necktie done just wrong on game day. Regulus felt his nostrils flare around a few deep breaths. A pulsing rod blazed just behind his eye. “You didn’t. Sorry. Yes, we should work out together sometime. Text me when you’re free.”
He stood on unsteady feet, left the dorm, and began to walk.
II.
“Don’t move, don’t move—”
“Shut the fuck up and do not touch me.”
The pain was overwhelming. Regulus’ temple throbbed from the force of squeezing his eyes shut. He could feel them all there, crowding him, closing in with their worry, holding their breath because he was angry and scared and angry because he was scared and scared because he was angry and in pain. And in pain.
He could work through pain. He had done it so many times.
Breathe. His chest didn’t hurt. His shoulders didn’t hurt. His stomach didn’t hurt. The throbbing below his waist could wait until he had taken a few deep breaths.
“Reg?”
Analyze. His leg was too hot and too cold at the same time. Everything below his left hip echoed his pulse, but his shin had a special kind of searing to it. His palms, too. Someone’s fingertips hovered at his pulse point and he twitched away. They stopped. They left him alone.
Do not cry.
The corners of his eyes were too wet in the gentle breeze.
Step Three: Do Not Cry.
“Reg, are you alright?” Kris’ reedy voice should have grated on him.
“I’m fine.” His voice wavered, but did not break. He unclenched his fists and flexed them, wincing at the sting of scraped skin. He took a sharp breath and wiggled his toes—no immediate pain. His leg muscles constricted when he told them to, relaxed when he breathed out.
Move on.
He went to bend his knee and immediately heard four people stumble over each other to stop him.
“You’re fine,” Jax said near his right ear. “But also, please don’t do that.”
Regulus opened one eye and frowned up at them. “Pick one.”
Jax hesitated a half-second longer than his patience. Regulus muttered a curse under his breath and sat up, grimacing at the carnage. The heels of his hands were trashed from the concrete; they would need full gauze, without a doubt. The gash running down his shin bled freely onto his (favorite) jeans and was beginning to seep out onto the ground. He sighed. “That’s not ideal.”
“Can we help?” Kris asked, all big eyes and bigger heart while he fiddled with the zipper of his first-aid kit. “I’d prefer to get a bandage on that before you move much, but we need to wash it out.”
Regulus tried to keep the judgement off his face. It seemed rude. “That’s not necessary,” he said. “But thanks. Pardon.”
Standing turned out to be a bad idea after all. The first bit of weight made his entire bad leg buckle and he narrowly missed crumpling on the ground for the second time in five minutes. Pain lanced up to his hip; Regulus dug his hands into the sidewalk to anchor himself, and when that only made it all hurt worse, settled for a handful of measured breaths.
The touch to his shoulder blade was featherlight. “Let me help,” Vanessa said softly.
Regulus hesitated. Better up than on the concrete, he supposed. He just—what if she couldn’t hold him?
She waited for him to nod before holding a hand out for him to take. Deadlift calluses and a firm grip reminded him just enough of Leo to not pull away when she braced her other hand behind his elbow and hoisted him upright, catching him when he swayed into her. “Easy,” she soothed. “Take your time.”
Regulus felt himself buffer, eyes fixed on her. Thick, dark hair drifted into her face in tiny wisps where it escaped her ponytail. She frowned down at the jagged rock that had cut into him like it personally wronged her.
“Thanks,” he mumbled. The upset vanished from her round face when she looked up again; there was a light squeeze to his torso. He got his weight under him, and yet she didn’t let go. Vanessa’s hold didn’t falter as they limped their way down the sidewalk, supported on every step.
He caught Jax’s eye as they turned toward the engineering building and found them already smiling.
III.
It’s a dumb movie, anyway.
That’s what Regulus told himself, listening to Clare sniffle while Kris watched the screen in openmouthed horror next to him. Jax’s description had been vague at best—something about a house and balloons and an old man’s emotional support Boy Scout.
But here they were, five minutes in, with no sign of balloons, Boy Scouts, or emotional support to be found. Just utter devastation and the inevitable march of death in spite of overwhelming love.
Goddamn mailbox, he thought. This whole problem could have been avoided if those two didn’t love each other to the ends of the earth. Which, of course, only made him think of Sirius’ ability to love with his entire heart and he really hoped Remus didn’t die first because that would be such a nightmare for everyone involved and oh, god, Sirius was going to die someday and leave him there—
“I forgot about this part,” Jax whispered in the darkness of the dorm. Their voice was only just loud enough for Regulus to hear over the movie.
He exhaled, and was surprised by how shaky it sounded to his own ears. “Fuck you.”
“Yeah,” they said sympathetically. “Fuckin’ Pixar. Need a minute?”
Regulus shook his head.
“ ‘Kay.” They sat quietly for another few seconds. A shoulder pressed gently against his own. “Let me know if you do, though.”
+1:
On an unassuming Thursday in April, it happened. The hammer came down. The other shoe dropped. Regulus’ luck ran out, the final bits drip-drip-dripping out into the ether and leaving him in a dead end of his own making.
In a way, it was inevitable.
“Holy shit,” Kris said, quiet and stunned and slower than Jax had ever heard him. His green eyes were blown wide; what had been a comfortable sprawl across his mattress for over an hour was now tense, the catch of breath before a scream. One airpod sat snug in his ear. His phone was lax in his hand and utterly innocent from Jax’s side of the room, save for Kris’ look of growing horror among his confusion.
“Kris?” they ventured. Kris remained silent. Jax’s pulse kicked. “What happened? Come on, man, that’s ominous as hell.”
“It’s Reg.”
Jax’s heart skipped a beat and fell right into the canyon below. “What?”
“He’s—” Kris’ mouth opened and closed a few times. “I don’t…”
“Is he hurt?” Their phone was here somewhere, buried under their notebooks goddamnit their mother was right about the organizing bins— “Kris, is he hurt? What happened?”
“He’s famous.”
They stuttered to a stop with their hand buried in the mess of their backpack.
“I think—I think he is? Or was. Or something. Hey, did you know he played hockey?”
Jax stared at him, then shook their head. “What the fuck are you talking about?”
“Come see this.” Kris finally looked up, motioning them over with his head as if he couldn’t let go of the damn phone. “Come here, c’mere.”
“Are you seriously about to make me watch a Tik…”
“Regulus, do you have any comments on the rivalry being set up between you and your brother? Does it get in the way of your personal relationship with Sirius at all, being on the Lions and the Snakes?”
“My brother’s got a dirty game—”
Jax didn’t hear the next few words. They were a little too concerned with the sudden absence of the floor beneath their feet.
“—don’t endorse that sort of hockey.”
“And your personal relationship? How about Thanksgiving?”
“What personal relationship?”
Jax closed their eyes. It wasn’t enough.
“As far as I’m concerned, he might as well stay away with the rest of his pack of cubs—”
“Stop.”
Light music halted and left the room in the soft rattle of their ancient radiator.
“This isn’t—stop,” they repeated, though Kris had long since abandoned his phone on the sheers. His pale hands were pressed against his mouth. Jax felt their skin crawl. “This isn’t right. I’m not watching that.”
“He looks sick.”
“Yeah. Jesus, yeah.” Something was wrong in that video. Regulus’ bright, clever eyes were emptier than a scoured pot. A scrape marred his cheek. The violent green of his uniform—jersey, maybe? Or just a shirt?—washed him into a greyed-out version of himself. His hair was cropped harsh and short above his ears, hardly a curl in sight.
Someone was laughing in the background of the video. Jax didn’t like the way he looked at Regulus. There were too many cameras and microphones shoved into his space; Regulus wouldn’t like that, either.
“He doesn’t talk about his brother that way.”
“No,” Kris agreed in a murmur. “No, he doesn’t.”
Not that Regulus talked about his family often, but on the rare occasion it came up, Sirius was always the first one he mentioned. Jax had met him back in September—tall and broad and handsome, with a barking laugh and a voice that carried. Regulus gravitated to him like a magnet, though Jax wasn’t sure it was a conscious habit.
What personal relationship? He might as well stay away.
Kris was right. He did look sick in that video.
“Can you…” God, this felt wrong, but they had to know. “Can I use your phone real quick?”
Kris’ sideways glance made them swallow convulsively. Nevertheless, he picked up his phone.

“When was that taken?”
Kris’ throat bobbed. He turned his phone off. “Last November.”
Jax pressed their fingers to their temples and let a sour breath out. This was too much. Too much. Their skull was going to implode. “Okay. Okay. Christ. Okay. Reg was famous, he left, he’s here now, it doesn’t matter.”
“We can’t tell him we know.” Kris stared into the middle distance—or, no, at Regulus’ bed. Always made, but a little wonky, like he was still figuring out how to do it right. A loose sock laid on the floor by one of his astrophysics books. “He doesn’t want us to know, or he would have said something. I’ve never heard him mention hockey. He said sports weren’t his thing.”
“He was a professional player.”
“For, what, half a season?” Kris’ lips pursed. “I’m not telling him we know. He left for a reason. Fine. That’s his business. He’ll say something when he’s—”
A key scraped against their door lock and Jax…Jax’s organs discovered the miracle of negative acceleration along the y-axis.
Regulus stepped in and slung his bag onto his desk chair. He opened his mouth to speak, saw them, and stopped. Stopped, like a deer staring down a Ford-F150. Every muscle primed and wound tight, as if someone had pressed ‘pause’ on the rotation of the world. His fingertip hovered in the handle-loop of his backpack.
“Oh,” he said simply. “Oh, no.”
And he left.
“Wait,” Kris called, far too weak and far too late. Jax’s brain refocused all in a rush—they both scrambled for the door, slipping on shoes and snatching wallets off whatever horizontal surface they called home.
“Shit, shit shit, shit,” Jax muttered. They shouldn’t have done this. They shouldn’t have looked. Kris was always right, always reasonable, never knee-jerk, so much better at this. They should have known better than to dig where they shouldn’t.
“I’ll check the library,” Kris said, jamming his phone in his back pocket. “I’ll—mother of fuck, this is not what I wanted. I’m deleting TikTok. And Google, fucking Google?”
Jax’s jaw throbbed with tooth-locking guilt. “I know, I know, I shouldn’t have looked, I’m so sorry.”
“Abuse cases? Abuse cases.” Kris swore again and pushed the heels of his hands into his eyes. “Fine. Alright. I’ve got the library. Text if you find him first. Holy shit.”
“I’m telling Vanessa to keep an eye out.”
“Good, yeah, whatever.”
Jax fought every urge to sprint down the hallway. Regulus was already long gone. Causing a scene wasn’t going to help. He probably wouldn’t come back to the apartment unless they found him first. Maybe ever. Oh, god, Jax would never forgive themselves if Reg left because they were a nosy little shit with no poker face.
For the first time, Jax wished NYU didn’t span a million city blocks. A fenced-in Ivy in the middle of nowhere would make them miserable, but it would be a hell of a lot easier to corner his flighty roommate when his hiding place wasn’t the entirety of New York City.
Well—well.
Regulus’ backpack was still in the dorm. He kept his wallet in the side pocket, zippered up tight. No MetroCard meant no subways. No student ID meant no twenty-story buildings to slip into. Regulus’ Ultra Panic Mode meant…nothing good, but at least he wouldn’t go far. Jax’s stomach twisted more than usual at the thought of him falling apart alone.
They shot off another text to Vanessa (whose string of ????? was the only correct response to their disaster of an initial message) and stepped out onto the sidewalk.
For a day with the potential to ruin a new and treasured portion of Jax’s life, it was quite beautiful out. The air was crisp and only reeked a little from the crusty hot dog stand down the block; the massive column sticking out of a manhole was missing its usual billow of subway steam and left the sky an unmarred blue above them. They were learning to like the spring on this coast. It was cold, sure, but if they wanted it to feel more like home, they would have gone to California. New York was their escape in every sense. They just—
They just really didn’t want to lose Regulus.
They hadn’t been sure what to make of him at first: so quiet, so reserved, every emotion leashed. But then he was kind and smart and funny in his weird way. He hadn’t fumbled a pronoun since the first day. He came home early from winter break, just so Jax and Vanessa wouldn’t be alone for their last holiday week after flights home fell through.
It wasn’t that Regulus didn’t like them. It was just that he was so very afraid of some looming shadow that had remained unnamed until that very afternoon. Jax couldn’t even blame him for it. If hockey made Regulus that ill, it was a small wonder he did everything in his power to leave it behind.
The bell of the narrow bookstore on 14th street chimed when they entered. The corner seat was unchanged, down to the burnt-orange cushion with a torn side seam. The rest of the shop vanished behind a massive chestnut shelf when they sat, folding their legs up. It was nice in here. Dim lights and a quiet heater. The owner had swapped out the winter candles for fresher springtime scents just a few weeks before.
“I never lied.”
“I know.” They stretched one leg out to roll the tension from their ankle. “You okay?”
“Non. How did you find out?”
His accent was thicker. Upset was etched in every angle in the corner of Jax’s vision. Shame wedged icy fingers between their ribs. “A video popped up on Kris’ TikTok feed. We shouldn’t have watched it.”
“I wouldn’t have told you.”
 “I figured.”
“I wasn’t—I was trying—” Regulus’ jaw ticked. His forehead furrowed as he picked at the laces of his shoes. “You have no idea what it was like. The way it got twisted up, I—and I didn’t want it, and I couldn’t leave.”
Don’t fucking cry.
“I couldn’t get out. Not until that game.” They saw him shake his head minutely. “I wouldn’t have. I wouldn’t have tried.”
“What game?”
“The…” Regulus turned to look at them then, eyes narrowed. “What was in the video?”
My brother’s got a dirty game. What personal relationship?
“You were in a room. I don’t know, there was a lot of hockey stuff around. People had stuff all up in your face.” Jax brought a fingernail to their mouth and bit absently at it. “It was an interview, something about your brother.”
“Fuck.”
The quiet ferocity of it made their heart clench in surprise. Regulus tipped his head back against the cool window. The edges of his lips had gone white with tension and Jax had never felt such regret for honesty in their entire life.
“I hate that fucking video.” It came out hoarse. Jax’s belly went Gordian. “I’m sorry.”
“What? No, dude, I’m sorry. We should have scrolled past it. We should’ve—we should have waited for you to tell us.”
“I wouldn’t.”
“Then you wouldn’t,” Jax said gently. “And that’s fine.”
Regulus’ mouth turned down at the corner. “I can be out by Saturday.”
In the throes of disbelief, all they could do was shake their head. “What are you talking about?”
“Didn’t bring a lot of stuff. It shouldn’t take long.”
“Reg, what are you talking about?”
An owl-eyed stare pinned Jax; intense, but not angry. They had been prepared for anger. Not…whatever this was. “Why are you here?” he asked carefully.
“To apologize? Because Kris and I fucked up and you left before we could say anything?”
“You don’t have to do that.”
“Yes, I do,” Jax insisted. “And clearly not enough people have apologized to you even once in your life, ‘cause it’s shitty when your secrets come out and it’s scary and so I’m here for you. And I’m sorry. I’m really, really sorry. For this, and for all those assholes who made you play hockey when you were meant to be a space nerd.”
Of all the reactions to a sudden outburst Jax had expected, a trembling lower lip wasn’t one of them.
“Oh, god.” Panic pulsed in their chest. “Was that too much?”
“I hate that fucking video,” Regulus whispered, voice breaking. His eyes welled with tears. Jax’s tongue turned to lead in their mouth.
This couldn’t possibly be real. Not this. Not sitting in a hole-in-the-wall bookstore while Regulus took stuttering breaths around tears he didn’t seem to know how to handle. “Hey,” Jax said softly. “Oh, hey, I’m sorry.”
“No, no, no,” Regulus muttered angrily, scrubbing at his cheeks with shaking hands. “Fuck—merde, one second.”
“It’s okay.”
“Non, stop it.”
We’re doing this. We’re doing this. “Reg, it’s fine. Is this—is this alright?”
Regulus froze up at the tentative touch to his shoulder. Jax waited, heart in their throat, before Regulus gave a slight, pained nod and leaned ever so slightly into them. It was incredibly heartbreaking and also deeply weird, the way Jax supposed it would feel to pet a wild tiger in a zoo.
Worst of all, it made sense. The mottled skin of Regulus’ ankles. His careful silence, only broken in the presence of a few friends. He had hardly spoken unless spoken to until January. Jax had seen skates, just once, tucked in the corner of his closet behind his laundry bag.
They had chalked it up to the Canadian thing. One of their stupider moments, looking back.
“Please don’t leave.”
Regulus paused with his sleeve pressed below his nose. “Quoi?”
“It’s…” There was a dent in the hardwood beneath the toe of their sneaker. “I mean, you’re my best friend. So I’d like it if you stayed. If you want.”
The request felt too fragile. The wound, too raw. Would Regulus be angry that they asked?
“Why would you want that?” Regulus asked after several beats of empty air between them. He sounded mystified by the very thought.
“You’re my best friend.” The corners of their eyes stung. They gave Regulus a little pulse of pressure, the shadow of a hug. “I’d miss you if you left.”
“Oh.”
“I won’t make you leave if you don’t want to.”
A tear glimmered in the light as it fell from Regulus’ cheekbone to his jaw, where he brushed it on the sleeve of his shirt. The cuffs were stretched, like he’d been gripping them in iron hands; they matched the frayed hems of his hoodies in a rather sickening way. “I want to stay.”
“Thank god.”
A rueful smile pulled at Regulus’ mouth. “You know, you might be the first person who wanted me around.”
“That’s so…” There were no words. Literally nothing could encompass the fresh-scrape sting of each new layer of tragic backstory peeling away. “Is there any part of your life story that isn’t depressing as hell?”
“Probably not,” Regulus snorted.
He was warm under Jax’s palm. The shivering had stopped. “Well, I’m here if you want to talk about it.”
“Merci.”
“Do you—”
“No.”
They nodded and mimed zipping their lips, and it made Regulus smile just a little, so it was worth it. He hadn’t pulled away from their one-handed hug yet. Jax counted that as a victory. It was sort of like washing a wound in the ocean: it stung like a bitch, but they were better for it in the end. Regulus’ wounds had been opened and reopened for nineteen years by uncaring hands. His cleanse was going to burn more than most. But even if gifts baffled him and kind words made him grimace and hugs were—whatever this was, Jax would be there. This time, he wouldn’t have to do it alone.

What do you think Frisk's life was like before arriving in the underground? What do you think their life was like a few years after all that? What kind of person d'ya think they'd be?
this is a fairly hard question because for a long time frisk was effectively an enigma to me. i think frisk is one of the biggest writing weak points in the game and that their character suffers because toby only did the big reveal that theyre a separate person from you too late to do really anything with it, which is why hes focusing so hard on kris in deltarune.
however, i have been thinking more about them lately and trying to figure them out from the few canon details we have. here are some of the lines in the game that i think can give us a peak into frisks upbringing and personality:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
these lines to me seem to imply frisk most likely grew up/lives in a neglectful environment where they dont feel loved or appreciated, whether in a home with parents or an orphanage or somewhere else. their caretakers are clearly absent enough that frisk managed to make it to mount ebott, for whatever reason it is they went. they do seem to at leastl partly want to go back home though, as they ask toriel when they can and you have the option to say they have somewhere else to go.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
they seem very independent and used to doing things for themself. they prefer finding fun in things in their environment to entertain themself with (like playing in leaves or staring at mouse holes) and potentially arent actually used to having toys to play with. they dont like the idea of being trapped in the ruins with toriel and want to leave despite the promise of a loving home.
Tumblr media
...however, they say this about asgore later. they seem to vastly prefer things like toriels homemade pie to making their own instant noodles. maybe theyd be willing to stay with someone on their own terms? you are given the option to stay with toriel or leave on your own at the end of the game. maybe frisk could be fine with either.
Tumblr media
i also choose to believe the 'less grammatically correct' options in the role-play sequence are frisk. the only thing this really proves in that theyre kind of silly. but what undertale character isnt? things like them wiggling or copiously flirting or generally going along with shenanigans tell us they like having a good time like everyone else.
Tumblr media
also, i dont have anything specific to say about the lines you get from running from a fight but i want to include them because theyre fun and some of the only 'probably frisk dialogue' we get that isnt just options.
as for post-mercy, i think the person everyone is talking to in the alarm clock dialogue is frisk. theyre just being told about events they werent there for, like the house party with alcohol they werent invited to for obvious reasons. i think both them having stayed with toriel or gone somewhere else are possible and there isnt strong evidence for either. theres even less evidence about whether they became the ambassador or not. maybe they werent there for some of the hangouts because they were busy with politics? i dont think toriel would let that happen but if any kid in the world could be a successful diplomat its absolutely frisk.

I wasn't going to post this. I saw everyone jumping on the "let me tell you my emotional connection to joker out" train and I wasn't going to participate because.....well....my annoying ass already said everything there needs to be said through tags on random posts (I should really learn how to shut my mouth).
But now it's 4 am (thank you Rosa Linn, I can't say that seriously ever again), I'm having trouble sleeping since I'm not fully recovered from my cold, so, fuck it.
I'll go on a rant so... I'll add the little thing that "divides" the post so that is easier to skip
Ah....where to start...I could tell you how I started enjoying joker out but that's a wholeass post on itself...
So, I'm going to start with how I connect to each member.
Bojan, you were the one who "opened the doors" to me. Frontman doing his service. In Bojan I saw a lot about myself. I saw a guy who loves to make bad puns, who loves languages and brag about their multicultural knowledge. I saw a guy who can be awkward at times, who deal with anxiety problems... Who says they'll stay away from Social media and then proceeds to post the most unhinged things. I saw someone who likes to understand societies as well (please be my tutor, I really need to pass sociology this is year) and likes to fight stereotypes.
Kris told us Bojan's parents can be a bit more judgy and without going into a lot of details, I'll say I also understand that so much (I didn't want to bring sexuality into this, but even if Bojan turns out to be straight, I still relate to all the pressure is parents must put on him just because he goes against "the norm" in the Balkans).
Kris...my bitch.
(Jk jk, I love him a lot).
How do I start?
Kris and I honestly have a lot of common too. The whole "bullying for falling at being one gender" thing hits so close. I don't talk about my gender much but I currently identify as a enby/gender fluid. However, for most of my life I was terrified of failing as a girl.
I remember coming home and asking my mom why was I different from the other girls (NOT IN THE WAY YOU ARE THINKING, PLS, I'M QUITE LITERALLY JUST NOT A GIRL 😅) and she would reply stuff like "Of course you are like the others, you have a vagina like them" - this sounds so bad and it made me feel so much worse because it didn't provide me with an answer at all to the bullying I endured. I had short hair, liked "boyish" things and so I was called a boy (+I got transphobic comments too ✌🏽😙). I was never as close with the girls because of it and boys would also exclude me from being too close to them. I was in the middle and I had to change my personality countless times to fit my assigned gender.
Now that I'm in university, I finally figured myself out and it's so refreshing waking up to see myself with short hair again, with more "genderless" clothes, having no problems with my little "moustachio" and being able to appreciate what I see in the mirror... learning to love myself.
Kris as we know him identifies as a man. He, however, also learned how to break the gender stigma (AND THAT OUTFIT IS A FUCKING STATEMENT) and learned that having confidence in himself is all that matters. No matter how long your hair is, no matter how you dance or sing, no matter the color of your pants. Be yourself and be proud of you are is really what matters!
Jan....I actually don't have a lot to say (I think I wasted most my words with Kris), but just like Kris I also love how comfortable Jan feels in himself and how little he seems to care about what others think. I love his sense of humor and his style. I love his voice and how sometimes he can get a little embarrassed off-stage...I would just really love to have him as a best friend honestly. He probably zones out instead of listening, but oh well 😅
Naceeeeee, my teddy bear. I also don't have the energy to dive too deep in the topic, but as someone who also struggled with body image issues, I'm so proud whenever Nace feels comfortable on his own skin. It's refreshing.
But obviously I gotta mention that post. It's kinda funny to me that he wrote that when I'm currently writing a story for my script class about how it is to live with divorced parents and how the feeling of belonging is something we strive for.
It's something I definitely struggled with all my life and it's getting worse as time goes on. It's so refreshing to see another person go through and talk about it and seeing that they reached the happy ending I'm also looking for...
Jure le chatton. You know I don't usually talk much about you because we know nothing about your life. However, that interview where you said you asked your mom why you were problematic, hit me hard. For a lot of reasons I have mentioned before, but also because I'm considered problematic by both my parents. I don't want to get into many details... It's 4m after all.
There's one thing I was going to mention on Bojan's part, but I figured it would fit the whole band.
I really really am looking up to these guys. They are around my age and they have done so much already. I have been stuck in the past couple of years due to my depression - and realistically I never thought of actually turning 18, let alone 20 - and seeing how much they worked hard makes me want to work hard myself. I haven't been able to, but hopefully I will...
Also, everyday I have been waking up in a good mood knowing I have met some incredible people thanks to this fandom and the boys! Like, excuse people actually care about what I write, what???? 😅
It's been a great experience so far. Let's see what this will bring me in the future :)

Inertia 6
Summary: Newton's first law expresses the principle of inertia: the natural behavior of a body is to move in a straight line at constant speed. In the absence of outside influences, a body's motion preserves the status quo.
Jan choose a direction of his life the moment he walked out of his parents house and cut all contact with them. He didn't want anything to do with them, or God anymore. Even his soulmark he wished he could leave behind. But when Nace Jordan joins the band, with a mark matching his own, can Jan keep going the same way he did? Or will the force make him change a direction?
Pairings: Jan Peteh/Nace Jordan
Warnings: Warning for mentions of religions trauma as per usual, but other than that…I think we might not have any other upsetting things here? Shocker, I know
Notes: AO3 link
A couple of things. First of all, this is second to last chapter! Congratulation to everyone who made it this far with me, I cannot believe I actually got this far into this fic. That said, next update might happen on a Sunday rather than a Saturday, due to my uni assignments. I will try my best to make it in time, but y'know, better safe than sorry.
But yeah! Finally, we are getting to some hurt/comfort and some talking! Enjoy it, you've earned it with all the angst
"I'm not too gone to be healed, am I? I'm not too gone am I?"
- Alice Notley, from In The Pines: Poems; "In The Pines,"
Jan slipped back to consciousness slowly. He firstly became aware of how heavy his body felt. Then of how dry his throat was.
He struggled to open his eyes. They were heavier than usual. It reminded Jan of how it felt to fall asleep while crying. Wait…was he crying?
That made his recall the events of the previous night and he jerked upright. Which proved to be a bad idea because he immediately felt his head pound.
"You have water and a pill on the table. I will start making coffee," Kris said, peering from the kitchen.
Every day, Jan was more convinced Kris was an angel. Jan owed him an apology and a hug. Once his head stopped pounding, though.
So he took the pill and drunk the water. Living room was only partially lit up, for which Jan was also grateful. Anything bright certainly wouldn't help.
Kris came back and pressed the warm coffee cup in his hands. His coffee cup. Jan stared at the dark red cup, trying to recall when he started having a cup that was only his in Kris' place.
All the cups in his parents' house were the same. Pure white with a golden circle near the rim. One of them slightly chipped at the rim and Jan used it all the time, until his mother noticed and threw it away.
There was probably something to be said about him liking things that are different, even if they are a little damaged.
"I'm sorry about yesterday," he said, staring at his coffee.
Kris sighed. Out of the corner of his eye, Jan saw him tap his fingers against the couch. His typical nervous gesture.
"I'm sorry I didn't realize things have gotten so bad. I don't-I don't think I ever saw you react the way you did last night. God, Jan, you were terrified and you were paranoid and I-"
Kris took in a deep breath and closed his eyes. For a few seconds he didn't speak at all. Jan would have, but he knew Kris wasn't finished talking. So he stayed quiet, giving Kris time to compose himself.
"I think you need to start seeing a therapist. And you have to talk to Nace. I can be there when you do, but for fuck's sake, Jan. I texted him yesterday after you fell asleep and he wasn't okay."
Jan began picking on his already ruined nail. Kris was right. He knew he was right. But Jan was terrified of this very thing for so long, he wasn't sure he would be able to just face it head on.
"What if I can't?"
He finally met Kris' eyes. His blue eyes that were too clear to hide anything, but always had the ability to burn right through you, to see to the very core of you.
Was it a blue eyes thing? Or did Kris and Jure simply share that trait?
"Yes, you can. You are one of the strongest people I know. But it's not weak to ask for help, Jan. Don't let your parents ruin this for you."
Jan pulled him in a hug. Kris froze, clearly not expecting it, before he melted into the embrace.
"Thank you. For everything."
Kris chuckled, but Jan heard a slight hitch to his breath. Almost like he was tearing up.
"Why do you make it sound like I will never see you again?"
Jan hugged him tighter.
"I should have said it earlier. Although, there is always a plan on moving to Antarctica if everything goes south."
Kris laughed and then he was the one crying. So Jan did the same as Kris did to him last night-he held him. They both felt fragile.
Kris showed emotions more easily than he did, but Jan also thought he never truly let himself experience them to the depth that they really ran. When he cried, he didn't sob, instead letting tears run down his cheek in a manner that seemed almost glorified. Where someone would look at him and still think he was pretty.
Jan preferred to either fall apart fully or not at all.
"You really fucking scared me, you asshole. Don't do that again."
He rubbed Kris' back in slow, comforting motions. His mind was starting to go through possible options, but it was still too clouded with panic for him to come with a solid plan.
"I don't know what to do now," he admitted quietly, "I don't know how to even talk to him. What to tell him."
Kris slowly pulled back, but he still kept his hand on Jan's shoulder.
"Let's go step by step, okay? Go home, eat something. Have a shower. Then call him. Don't text, call him."
Jan made a face. He did hate phone calls with burning passion. They were awkward at the best of circumstances. These were certainly not the best of circumstances.
"I know you hate phone calls. But in these kinds of situations, messages can be easily misread. So call him and set up a time to meet. As for what to tell him...I don't have a better advice than telling him the truth."
Jan buried his face in his hands. The truth? What was the truth at this point? He wasn't even sure he knew himself.
"That's about as helpful as telling me to just breathe underwater."
Kris sighed.
"How about you do the rest first and then look at the situation again? As much as I hate to say it...sometimes you have to jump first and ask questions later."
"Fine," Jan said sourly.
He doubted he'd come up with any better plan just by showering and eating, but he saw no point in arguing. So he hugged Kris one more time and went home. This time with his bag and keys.
He did everything Kris said, but he felt no closer to the solution on how to approach Nace. His phone laid on the table, screen up. Jan stared at it as if it was a time bomb.
Nace didn't try to contact him. Except for few phone calls from yesterday after he ran off, but nothing today. Whatever Kris told him clearly made him wait for Jan's move.
Jan wished he wouldn't. He didn't know what to say.
He grabbed his bag and out his phone in it and then went outside. Perhaps a walk would clear his head.
It was cold and gloomy outside. The fog settled heavy over the city, and Jan only saw few meters ahead as he walked. Still, that didn't stop him.
He walked and walked, until his feet hurt. Then he spotted a nearby bench and sat on it, catching his breath. He still felt lost. He wasn't even sure he knew exactly where he was, as lost in thoughts as he was while he walked.
A sound of church bells snapped him out of it. Jan flinched, looking around with wide eyes. Was he hallucinating again?
But, no. There stood a church, cloaked by the fog. And Jan felt compelled to get closer. So he did.  He got all the way to the church, close to the entrance. Only then he stopped, frozen in place.
He could hear the wait sound of a mass going inside. There was no way he was going inside, but he could listen in. He leaned on the wall of the church and closed his eyes. Just listening.
It was hard to tell how long he stood there, listening in. He was so focused on it he missed the sound of steps approaching him.
"I am sorry, young man?"
Jan's eyes flew open, his heart leaping in his throat. A man stood in front of his, peering at him worriedly. For a brief second, Jan thought he was a priest, but on a second glance he realized he was actually a deacon, his clothes giving him away.
"Um. Right, sorry. I should probably leave," Jan said awkwardly, pushing himself from the wall.
"No, no need. I just thought you might be more comfortable inside. It is quite cold out here."
Jan bit his lip. Dread settled in his gut once again. He didn't think he could make himself go in. Face the inside of the church, the prayer. It was still to raw.
"No, thank you. I don't think I'd be welcome, either way."
"Everyone is welcome into the church."
He couldn't quite stop the sharp, bitter laugh that escaped him.
"Right. Of course. Everyone is welcome as long as they can obey your rules, no?"
Deacon gave him a long, pitying look. Jan felt his skin crawl. If he hated one thing, it was pity. He turned his head away, but before he could walk away, deacon spoke again.
"There are God's guidances, of course, but I wouldn't call them rules. Rules sound so rigid and human life and morality are so easily bent by situations we find ourselves in."
Jan stared at the man before him. He had never, ever heard someone religious, someone connected to the church, speak in such a way. Nace came the closest and even then, it wasn't the same.
"You-so what, "You shall not kill", is simply a guidance?"
Deacon gave him a gentle smile.
"Some are stronger than the others. But in a situation where it is self defense, is that truly a sin? A mother killing someone while protecting her child, is it something that should need forgiving? We are just human, after all."
He swallowed. This felt surreal. Like he was within a dream, and he was talking to his own subconscious.
Whatever it was, the unreality of it made Jan wanted to ask more question. He wanted to know more. He could always walk away, couldn't he?
"So...if almost everything is subjective, how can you know if you are doing a good or a bad thing? How do you...know what's right?"
Deacon patted his own chest.
"Most of us have the ability to feel right or wrong. There are exceptions of course, but there are usually other reasons for it. We all have...inner guidance, so to speak. No matter if you see it as given from God, or simply a part of you, it can help you decide on what's right thing to do."
Jan exhaled slowly, watching his breath curl like smoke in the air. His own chest felt frozen, but as he focused more, he swore he could almost feel a tug. A spot of light.
He needed to go to Nace. To be honest with him. To tell him-
His fear extinguished his hope almost immediately, cloaking him in darkness. Jan squeezed his eyes shut. He was too damaged ti be fixed.
"What if...what if it's too late to do the right thing? What if it's too late to fix me?"
The other man didn't say anything for a moment. The only sound came from a church choir. Jan felt his heart sink.
"It is never too late. Not unless we are dead. And perhaps, not even then."
Jan's hand drifted underneath his hair, to his soulmark. He traced it, almost hesitantly. He did his best to forget it was there for so long, it was odd to acknowledge it.
"I can't be anything other than what I already am."
He opened his eyes to see deacon giving him another soft smile. It was odd, how honest he was being. He supposed the fact that the other man didn't know who he was helped. To him, he could be anyone.
"Have you tried? To be another person?"
Jan furrowed his brows.
"I don't understand."
The deacon nodded.
"We can't become new people overnight. But we can do things that'll help take us in the right direction. Is there anything you can do to fix your mistake right now?"
He took in a deep breath in. Then exhaled slowly.
"I could talk to my soulmate. But I don't know if I can be what he needs."
Jan realized that the right pronouns tumbled from his lips too late. He froze, but the deacon's face didn't change. If he was phased, he didn't show it.
"Well. You can't know unless you talk to him, can you?"
Jan chuckled, almost surprised that he didn't immediately change his answer. What parallel reality did he walk into?
"I suppose not. But won't you tell me that my soulmate can't be a man?"
Deacon shook his head.
"God gives us our soul’s companions for a reason. Who am I to question God's decision of giving you two a soul bond, regardless of the gender?"
He swallowed. There was something else he needed to ask. He always had to keep prodding, didn't he?
"And what if...what if I don't believe in God anymore?"
Deacon reached his hand out and tentatively put his hand on Jan's shoulder. Jan expected to feel uncomfortable, but he wasn't. It was simply a warm touch.
"They are different ways to believe. Some of us need more guidance to get through life. From God, from the church from others. Others simply need to live and be happy. Is it not God's will for all of us to live to our fullest potential, no matter which path we take?"
Jan suddenly found it hard to swallow. His eyes stung and he closed them, willing himself not to cry. He took in a shaky breath.
"Can it really be that simple?"
Deacon squeezed his shoulder gently.
"Life is simple, once we learn to let go of things that weight us down."
Jan took another deep breath before opening his eyes. He met deacon's kind gaze.
"Thank you."
He got a pat on the shoulder before the other man let go.
"We all need a bit of extra guidance sometimes. I wish you your best in your pursuit of happiness."
Jan nodded, a lump in his throat too heavy for him to say anything else. Yet, despite it all, when he turned and began to walk back, he felt lighter than he did in a very, very long time.
He wasn't sure what made him come up directly to Nace's doorstep. He was holding a box of gluten free cookies in hands that he had picked up during his small detour on the way here. Suddenly, he wasn't sure why he had gone to get them at all, but it wasn't important. He was here, at Nace's front door. That was the part that mattered. He could leave the cookies for someone else if Nace didn't want them.
He rang the doorbell before he could change his mind. It echoed through the apartment for a moment, before he heard a sound of footsteps on the other side of the door. Then the door opened.
Nace stood in the doorway. He wore a dark green hoodie and sweatpants, his hair in an unusual disarray. There were dark circles under his eyes and Jan couldn't help but wonder if he slept at all.
"Hi," he said, awkwardly holding up a bag of cookies, "I bought cookies. They are gluten free."
Nace stared at him, unmoving. He opened his mouth and closed it few times before clearing his throat.
"What are you doing here?"
Jan shifted from one foot to the other. It was the moment of truth, he supposed.
"I wanted to talk to you. May I come in?"
There was a brief hesitation before Nace stepped back and allowed Jan to come in. The doors closing with a soft click felt more significant than it should have been.
Jan wordlessly handed Nace the cookies while he took off his boots and a jacket. Nace simply watched him, as if trying to comprehend Jan was really here. He supposed he deserved that.
Nace led him to the dining room instead of the living room. Which was odd, but Jan didn't question it. He got them both glasses of water before sitting across from Jan.
Oh. He choose this because he could face him more directly. Jan let his hair fall over his face a bit, suddenly uncomfortable under Nace's heavy gaze.
"So," Jan said awkwardly, "about yesterday. I'm sorry."
A paused. Nace stared at him, as if prompting him to continue, but Jan didn't know where to begin with explaining himself.
"Is that it? You came here to tell me you are sorry for running off?"
Jan winced. Nace's usual patience seemed to not be present today. Just when Jan needed it the most.
"No. I just-maybe it would be easier if you asked me things and I answered? I don't know where to begin."
Nace chuckled, but not in his usual, heartfelt way. He sounded tired.
"Alright. How about, why the fuck didn't you tell me? You had to know."
Jan shrugged. He felt uncomfortable in a way he didn't in awhile. So he answered the first thing he thought of. His go to answer on the topic.
"Didn't seem that important to me. I don't exactly believe in all that soulmate stuff anyway."
That was clearly the wrong thing to say. Nace's gaze sharpened. His mouth twisted in an angry grimace.
"So what? I am good enough to fuck, but not good enough to be your soulmate?"
"No!"
Jan reached out, to grab Nace's hand, but stopped himself just short of making contact. He let his hand fall back to the table.
"No," he said softer, "that's not how it is at all."
"Then explain to me how it is."
Nace's voice was almost forceful, slamming into Jan's chest like a punch. Jan closed his eyes and tried to concentrate on that little shed of hope he still held.
"I lied. I don't see soulmates as bullshit I just-I wish I did. I wish I could not care at all and that I could hate you and that by refusing you by refusing this make my parents be wrong."
He took in a shaky breath. Nace didn't say anything so he continued.
"Because feeling like I was incomplete without you, without some divine intervention seems so fucked up to me. Because I choose to play in a band because my parents didn't approve and didn't like that it took away from my time in the church. And yet that being a thing that led me to you is so frustrating! Did I have any free will at all?"
Jan finally opened his eyes again, taking in Nace's expression. Nace was pale, and his brows furrowed, probably trying to follow his thought process.
"Alright. So let me see if I got this right. Your parents had harmful religious views on soulmates so you don't want to even consider this, us, because you feel like you had no choice in the matter?"
That wasn't quite a fair assessment of what he said, but Nace wasn't entirely wrong, either. As much as Jan wanted to fix things, it was hard to get past the feeling of helplessness.
"I'm-not quite but I suppose that's a gist of it. I don't have anything against you, not really. But I hate not having a choice in any of this."
Nace lifted one eyebrow.
"You mean, like not giving me any real choice in the matter by not telling me a very important detail?"
Fuck. That wasn't fair.
"That's not the same."
Nace shrugged.
"Isn't it?"
Jan struggled with what to say to that. Isn't it the same? Was he truly taking away his choice in all of this?
"Let me ask you something. Did you find me attractive when we first met? Ignore the soulmark, ignore everything else."
He swallowed, blush slightly painting his cheeks as he remembered Martin's comment about him checking out Nace during their first encounter. He definitely found him attractive from the start.
"Yes."
"And if there was no soulmark involved, would you have acted upon it at some point?"
His answer came in an instant. Absolutely. Jan was certain of it. He still would have taken some time to observe Nace, but without having to be cautious of the soulmark, he would have certainly acted earlier.
"Yes."
Nace leaned in, his breath ghosting over his face and Jan had the urge to pull him even closer. Instead, he was frozen in place, staring at those dark eyes.
"So by insisting on hating me, you are, in fact flat out refusing for anything to happened between us because of the soulmark. Not because you don't like me. How is that a natural choice on your part?"
Jan could hear his own blood ringing in his ears. Felt his heartbeat. Thud, thud, thud. It sounded like everything around him crashing down.
"I-" he swallowed, then cleared his throat, but no words came.
Nace waited patiently, simply looking at him. Like he didn't just pull the foundations of his world apart with few sentences.
"God, Nace," he said at last, "What do you want?"
"I want you to stop hiding behind the excuse of having no control and work with me. I can't help you unless you let me. So please do tell me what is your actual problem with me."
Jan worked his jaw. He focused on his nails. He reapplied the nail polish on his left hand yesterday, so it was perfect. Too perfect. He began to peel it off.
Then Nace reached out and covered his palms with his own, stopping his movements. Jan froze.
"Tell me," Nace urged, his softer now.
That finally made Jan snap.
"I can't give you what you want, alright? There was no point in giving you false hope about it."
Silence. Nace's mouth slightly fell open before he managed to scold his face into a more neutral expression. Jan felt more uncomfortable than he possible ever did in his life.
That thought kept bothering him on his way to here, though. Even if he was willing to do this, he could never do it in a way traditional to soulmates. He simply couldn't.
"And what is that you think that I want?"
Nace's voice was leveled. Controlled. Almost too controlled. He was definitely holding his emotions back. Jan just couldn't quite tell what those emotions were, at the moment.
Still. He owed him the truth, at the very least.
"You are a simple man. You want to settle down, have your secure little fairy tale with someone you love. Maybe even a family. I can't give you that."
So many emotions flickered over Nace's face. Disbelief, anger, hurt. Jan looked away.
"Did I ever say that's what I want?"
Jan sighed. He tried to pull his hands away from Nace's, but Nace tightened his hold on them.
"No. But I overheard you and Bojan talking about soulmates several times."
"Hypotheticals are different than the actual situations."
Jan rolled his eyes. He completely turned his head away this time. Clearly, this conversation wasn't leading anywhere.
Nace grabbed his chin. Jan froze, expecting it to hurt, for Nace to forcefully drag him into a kiss. Instead, Nace gently turned his head back towards him.
"Listen to me. I am only asking for a chance to get to know you. For you to get to know me, before you make any judgments."
His eyes shone with determination and now Jan couldn't look away.
"You fascinate me and you frustrate me and I want to know what you think and how you think. I want to get to know you properly. Can you at least give me a chance for that? No promises need to be made, just that we'll try. See where it goes. Maybe we work better as friends. That's also fine. But we won't know unless you give it a chance. Does that sound reasonable?"
Jan nodded slowly. He breathe through the panic rising in his chest. Somewhere, deep inside him, he knew that whatever this will involve into, won't be just friendship. But it was far too early to say that.
"Yeah, alright."
And Nace smiled, like a light shining at the end of a dark street. It was soft, almost hesitant smile.
"Alright."
It was a start.

hiding ur eyes in deltarune
random thought, everyone of the main team in deltarune hides their eyes or face in some way, except for noelle.
kris and susie have hair in their eyes, and ralsei has his hat. each of them also noticeably SHOW their eyes at some point.
my leetle mini theory about this is that hiding your eyes is equivalent to hiding your true self:
-susie’s eyes are shown late in ch1 when she starts opening up to kris and ralsei;
-ralsei takes his hat off at the end of the game, and it never fully hides his eyes. he’s been mostly honest, but he’s never fully revealed himself before
-kris is posessed BUT when they take out their soul you can see them for presumably obvious reasons
but my question is about NOELLE because WHAT THE SHIT IS UP WITH HER????
well i like to think noelle doesn’t try to hide stuff from people much. she’s genuine, especially around KRIS. in all of their interactions, which is a lot of noelle’s screen time in this chapter, we see her being real and so her eyes aren’t hidden. but what’s confusing is that, we know noelle isn’t being entirely true to herself around many other people. kris is the exception. so why arent her eyes ever hidden either????
anyone else have any ideas???
---------
edit: berdly
so i didn’t include him because he’s not a party member, and he’s the most complicated of all these BAR RALSEI so let me explain.
berdly doesn’t hide his eyes, but he has colored glasses. In a way, he’s not HIDING his eyes, only changing how they look. Berdly isn’t hiding who he is entirely, he’s showing everyone who he WANTS to be. It’s only dishonest by it being not who he IS. His glasses distort how he looks, and he distorts his image by claiming he’s better than he actually is.
He never takes off his glasses because he can’t admit to himself that he’s not perfect or special. Even when he’s being honest, he still inflates his image. When he describes how he’s not as smart as he says he is, he emphasizes the attention he got for WINNING and being SPECIAL. The glasses grab attention but don’t show the true colors underneath. He admits Noelle helped him study, but never says he isn’t smart.
If you want to extend the glasses theory to other characters, which I DO NOT BUT I WILL ACKNOWLEDGE, it would also apply to Ralsei. He’s been peeling back the layers of who he is, starting completely shrouded in a hood with nothing visible at all, and slowly working his way up to taking off his hat, but he still has his glases. They aren’t colored, they don’t distort him, which is why I DO NOT LIKE THIS, but it would also support the idea that Ralsei knows more than he’s letting on.
yes i did just write 2 paragraphs about berdly but whatever its fine
edit 2:
I JUST REALIZED I FORGOT TO MENTION THE ONE OTHER TIME KRIS SHOWS THEIR EYES AND THATS JUMPING INTO THE DARK WORLD
its only there for a second but you could use this for a ton of theories. my main one being that kris just prefers being in the dark world
in hometown, even if they’re not hated, not many people really like them all that much. almost every time kris talks to someone they bring up asriel and how great he was. i think kris might have a bit of resentment for that treatment
also in hometown, kris is significantly different, just for the fact that they’re human. this fact also probably makes them uncomfortable, as seen in the library when kris sees photos of humans in a book and immediately slams it shut. we can make the assumption that kris isnt even that big a fan of themself in the light world because of those things. its home, but not the best one
but in the dark world, those things dont apply. nobody there knows asriel, so they dont compare kris to their brother or bring him up all the time. kris isnt just a weird human there, they’re a hero and a lightener. people like kris and want to be their friend, which isnt a thing many people want back in hometown
in the dark world also, they do a lot of things independently of our control. they defend susie, they deny talking about susie with ralsei in snowgrave, and they show expressions that the others notice and comment on. kris, in the dark world, has more control. we dont see them do these things much outside of the endings where they physically remove their soul
kris is more comfortable being themself in the dark world, even if they can’t do it most of the time because of us. the dark world is an escape from comparisons and expectations where they can be a hero instead of the weird human next door who follows around their perfect brother
anyways kris needs a nap thanks for coming to my ted talk

He focused more on kylie saying the kardashians having a scandle coming theyre way soon with how they habdle thier money specially kris and it will be coming from a male
But he also said what you saifd about kylie shes embaraced by her family and want to change her image and a man broke her heart and took away her sunshine and she also is talking to other men. But she enjoys how diff timothee him and becuase she doesnt have choas with him she doesnt know how to feel towards him.
What ever ant does a reading on kylie he always says how shes a zombie and sad she is.
And said they both bonded over thier exes and they both want somebody of thier exes to be jealous which i remember how timmy was jealous when he saw him with lisa so maybe part of him wanted to do the same
And also he said if kylie will be private in the future its becuase she learned that from timothee and timothee sometimes think this pr is a good idea and sometimes not he hates it
And he doesnt like the kardashian family he only likes kylie which we all knew kylie is the best one out of all of them but still come on
And also he said it might be over in a couple of month and they will play the story thay its HER FAMILY thay didnt like her.
And also he noted that thier chemistry is low but obv after him saying timothee is giving her tips about how to private they might be talking.
He said timothee is like harry styles.
He didnt mention anything about them hookingup or other than the pda.
Check out this video "Highlight: TAROT TAROT TAROT !youtube" https://www.twitch.tv/antphrodite/v/1919814689?sr=a&t=3s
i skimmed the reading and i agree with some of it.
she likes his energy but these two are not connected as i’ve been saying. and as i said in my reading for kylie that she does have alot of trauma and she’s not like her family at all but she was influenced by them so she has to go along with what they want.
she is in a “zombie” state. she isn’t happy most of the time and that can be categorized as depression or like he said very “zombie” like.
there are times that Timmy wants to make Armie jealous he’s and he was very hurt seeing Armie with lisa so that could be another reason why he agreed to this yes.
i do think she’ll try to distance herself from her family as i said in her reading. and no Timmy doesn’t like her family he doesn’t like them at all actually and that’s why he gets embarrassed to be around them and why he holds back from even being seen with kylie because she’s still apart of that.
as i said i do see them ending this differently then with past relationships. it will be more so that he ended it because of her not her being on top like usual.
their energy is low but they have met a few times and we know that. obviously a meeting to arrange this, the time as his home and backyard, the concert. they have talked because Timmy does feel bad for her but they aren’t in constant communication like you would think. not even as friends are they really in communication. maybe a few times they’ve talked outside of what we’ve physically seen.
he said that he’s usually careless when it comes to these things and i agree that Timmy doesn’t put much energy into his PR relationships because he doesn’t like these people or really want to be doing this so he produces low and uncaring energy.
they don’t hook up so that’s probably why he didn’t mention it.
again i didn’t do the reading so idk what he felt but i will say that it was like my readings i’ve done in the past so do with that what you will.

ok in the spirit of Posting Crackpot Speculation Because It's Fun, here's a breakdown of my “wingdings deltarune future player character” thing, which is to say here are a lot of words rationalizing a line of speculation that is silly on its face and is based on no evidence except 1) vague sense among the fanbase that we may play someone other than kris at some point and 2) i think it would be cool lol
my specific hypothesis here is going to hinge a little bit on the claim that part of, if not most of, an upcoming chapter (i'm going to say 6, unless it's some kind of completely alternate set of events that's hidden behind some combination of killing berdly and finding glowshards or some shit. im just. going to keep it simple here. ok.) might be a sequence set earlier in the timeline and largely meant to provide some insight into what happened to set everything in motion — ENTRY NUMBER SEVENTEEN, the dessappearance, and the ruined cliffs area, specifically; as well as, possibly, insight into the two missing characters (dess and gaster) as the people they were before shit went completely sideways
the evidence for this claim is that there is none and i pulled it out of my ass. however my reasoning is largely utilitarian: how the hell does a lot of this information get conveyed in a way that's as complete as it needs to be for basic story comprehension, while still being engaging for a player? probably in a lot of much better ways actually but an interactive flashback is, you know, also an option that could be chosen. if you wanted to.
i’m positing chapter 6 because Gaster Number Lol but also because it’s an interesting point for a radical shakeup in gameplay & lore revelation — right after chapter 5, which is likely to be quite heavy and end on a cliffhanger, and just before the narrative resolution in chapter 7, when the information from this sequence will be most useful to the audience.
playing as kris during this kind of Past Sequence doesn’t make much sense to me since they were presumably not playing an active role in most of it (same for the Vessel, who, uh, probably did not exist then). noelle is already well-established as a NPC with a distinct and defined personality, and i expect dess will be as well, which means either of them a silent PC creates a distance between the player and the PC that feels tonally confusing as well as like an unnecessary muddying of thematic waters.
Past Alive Guy Wingdings Deltarune however 1) is probably The Guy responsible for a lot of this, meaning it makes sense for such a sequence to follow him as a POV character, and 2) is fundamentally mysterious as far as concrete personality and motivations, given that we have yet to experience him actually interacting with another character beyond WHAT DO YOU TWO THINK, Give Egg, and Wave Happily, which means he’s a good fit for a role that necessitates some amount of player immersion. thematically there’s also a degree of cosmic justice at play, making the puppeteer the puppet, gaster having to directly confront and acknowledge his mistakes in order to right them, “and cetera.” this could even open opportunities for growth both for him and the Player — gaster possibly agreeing to let us in so we can help, and we as Player being able to do so in a way that isn’t coercive. but also maybe not lol (see notes below)
there are also some purely practical reasons why i think this works, which brings me to a bunch of haphazard and probably redundant notes that i wrote like a week ago and don’t care enough to edit right now:
Chadley Deltaruminations’s Top 10 Reasons Why Pre-Shatter Gaster Deltarune Future Player Character Makes A Certain Amount Of Sense To Me Even Though It Sounds Stupid As Hell On Paper And I Don’t Actually Believe That It’s A Real Thing That Will Happen
averts the unintelligible font issue (dude can’t talk)
maintains a lot of the mystery around him (dude can’t talk AND isn’t in full control of decisions he makes, meaning personality and other character traits remain subtextual and open to interpretation)
allows conveyance of potentially complicated plot-crucial information about gaster’s role in deltarune’s narrative in a way that’s active and interesting for players and probably less corny than A Backstory Monologue and also less obtuse and inaccessible than vague allusions and/or metadata that’s unavailable to console-only players
the specific position of “player character” in the context of deltarune is tonally appropriate for a character whose storyline seems to be fairly serious and nuanced and lacks room for Funny Little Guy antics but also demands relatability and emotional investment. our experience with kris certainly has moments of levity but there’s also a deep underlying sense of gravitas to kris as PC (for obvious reasons) that’s really only rivaled by Noelle in Side B (who is, of course, taking on a similar role to Kris)
potential thematic function as a type of cosmic justice for either puppeting others or at least contributing to their being puppeted as martyrs for his ends, however altruistic they seem. like hey doc maybe if you want this so badly you should be the one to do it
in tandem with previous point(s): instantly bypasses the emotional walls of UTDR’s Most Elusive Animal by forcing him into the most vulnerable position of any RPG character. to explain this further i feel like it would be OOC (at the very least corny) for UI Gaster to just volunteer potentially compromising information about himself/the various plot-crucial ways he may have fucked up in his past given how determined he seems to be to hide himself and deflect from his possible responsibility for Anything. i feel like a lot of character development would need to happen before that and given that his only active role as of chapter 2 seems to be Send Tweet, Give Egg, Wave From Car, and Be Sad About Dead Youth, it doesn’t seem reasonable to expect him to have changed that much by the time that information is going to warrant conveyance. maybe the man needs an intervention
subverts player/villain relationship and shit…… we expect to defeat the lich, maybe later learning his tragic backstory in a bit of exposition and/or vague lore that we don’t have a ton of reasons to actually care about. we don’t expect to live out his backstory alongside him. see also magus chronotrigger
within toby fox’s own oeuvre we have existing precedent (andonuts halloweenhack. lol) for presenting a villain’s POV via Literally Entering Their Mind in order to provoke emotional investment in and sympathy for that character
u know how gaster gets weird about us putting his name in during the vessel creation sequence. im just saying.
tenth reason. uh. I Like Him,
ok. thats it. bye

What if Anne, Steven, and Kris met?
that would be absolutely nuts i should draw that.
in all seriousness theyre such a strange combo, i think anne and steven would become pretty fast friends. at least, depending on what age they meet. im gona set kris aside for now since theres no timeskip for them currently.
but like, 13 year old anne is a very different person- she's kind of flippant? doesnt take things very seriously, and hates responsibility. but she's also very social, and quickly connects with people even if she doesnt realize it. i do think they would get along, at least superficially. (her and 13 year old steven)
but steven is sort of the opposite- at least in that he feels he is responsible for a lot of things he really shouldn't be. in the beginning of the show he's sorta like anne in not taking things seriously- but he leans into that responbility a bit too much; meanwhile, anne sort of lets it fall to the wayside until she can't ignore it anymore. he's also a lot more open about his feelings, which 13 year old anne pushes down to a fault. i think that friendship would be good for the both of them, as steven would probably be very obviously hurt by something she's done, and also be very emotionally vulnerable in a way that surprises her. probably makes her want to be able to do the same thing.
i also think he'd help her like, learn how to be a good friend? steven has really good ideas about companionship in the beginning of su, sworn to the sword is a good episode to point to. there's emphasis in being a team, and doing things together. making each other happy. think there's value in that. and in turn, i think anne could help steven sort of understand being human more? since she attends school, and talks to a lot of people. anne knows a thing or two about interacting with others which would be a great help.
kris wouldnt really fit into this dynamic as well, considering theyre like in high school? (i know some people hc kris as being 14- i am not one of them, they seem a bit more mature than that but thats just me!) but being a sort of weird sibling to them both would be fun. i really don't think kris knows how to take care of other people, especially ones younger than them. they're sort of like an awkward silent buffer inbetween them, occasionally breaking up spats or silly arguments? anne would probably be annoyed or amused at how weird they are, while steven would kind of think they're cool and stoic? that's all i got on that though.
ok here is where we get crazy. under the cut because i've talked too long. warning for tangents.
ok so. timeskip versions. sort of. im not doing adult anne here, but i'm being a bit speculative of her high school years. this would probably put kris as the youngest, depending on how you headcanon them. (personally i hc them as 16, so same age as steven- so i'll just be using that age.)
so kris is not very good with people. good thing steven isn't either! or even anne a bit! (though, i think anne is the best at social interaction out of these three.) but each of them have gone through some sort of experience that sort of shaped them? in this way, it is difficult to sort of jump back into normalcy when you've traumatized or affected in such a big way. and though deltarune isn't finished, there are circumstances which are going to change or shape kris in new ways.
i think there would be hesitance in their interactions, nervousness which doesn't fully make sense to them. though it is something kris has sorta dealt with even before the events of deltarune, so i think they're more than used to having one-sided, awkward interactions with others. i actually think the other two would sort of follow their lead here- despite them being selectively mute. kris would initiate topics of conversation simply by being curious, or off-putting. (for example, maybe they stare a little too long, prompting someone like steven if they are okay.)
just little things like that. it would be painfully awkward.
especially as i think anne and steven are both characters that don't particularly like dealing with silence, or stilted conversation. and they would latch onto anything to talk about, no matter how trivial. so it's sort of like that! and kris can be content with sitting by and letting the conversation play out.
but i also think kris is sometimes not content with that- i think their dark world form is sort of a manifestation of kris wants for themself. i think they enjoy playing the hero, being out of the shadows for once. having the spotlight on them. it's something steven doesn't particularly enjoy, especially for how traumatizing his experience was to become savior of the galaxy. it's a title he finds uncomfortable. not that he would take back anything he's done-- it's all good things. but- the attention, and especially the treatment he gets (being put on a pedestal) is not very fun.
i want to touch on this briefly since we're here as well. i do think the biggest contribution to steven's issues is that it's rare that he faces true consequences for his actions. i think because of this title, as well as some of his powers makes it so that he can undo most of his bad actions. this is especially apparent when he shatters jasper. she harbors no ill will towards him- she submits to him, even.
and because everyone he's wronged has also, arguably done things just as bad as him, it's not something held against him. at least on a larger scale (of course characters like aquamarine and eyeball are exceptions). but his loved ones just want what's best for him, which makes sense. he's not doing okay in future, and there isn't much time for everyone to worry about his bad actions at that very moment.
though i do think after the events of i am my monster, they have a discussion about it. it sucks that it was cut short because the ramifications of steven shattering someone when pink diamond didn't even do that is crazy. he's probably done the worst damage out of the three here and i'm sure it does his ptsd no favors.
this is really long winded but the point im trying to make is that i think steven wants a bit of a break from taking the reigns- on anything. i think he's at a point where he doesn't really trust himself with others very much yet, let alone in emotions. and especially for other humans. so i think if he's able to get over the sort of awkwardness present here he would be able to enjoy just sitting in silence with kris.
as for anne- i do think she's well adjusted. i think she has a newfound confidence in herself that wasn't there before amphibia, and overall she sees her experience in amphibia quite differently than steven's journey or kris's current predicament. that said- i do think she would be going through a bit of a post-amphibia depression. losing her frog found family still occasionally feels like a punch to the gut, and being 16 i think it would come up rather often. maybe she would be in moods that make her very mopey and demotivated. she would bounce back, but its still somewhat of a fresh wound. but i think she turns some of her sadness into motivation sometimes. she would be motivated to study amphibians, to learn more about the species she holds so dear.
this kinda neatly matches with my previous ramble, in that anne actually understands what college is. which intrigues /both/ steven and kris. i'm sure they would love to learn all about that, especially since asriel and connie are doing basically the same thing. thought that was fun. she talks about college apps, asks them both about frogs. of course, steven and kris both love amphibians, reptiles, etc. they're very into that. steven still cares a lot about wildlife and kris enjoys animals that are not looked upon favorably. there's a kinship in it.
eventually when everyone is comfortable with each other anne sort of seems the best fit to lead all of their conversations. it's not all one-sided, but steven enjoys not having to speak sometimes, and it's not something kris really does. but anne and steven sorta learn to read their body language and other actions they perform to express their thoughts. kris is also expressive with their facial expressions. i think they would both respect kris enough to allow them ample room to express themself, without putting words or feelings into their mouth. (which i assume many monsters in hometown do.)
out of the trio, i don't think many would be forthcoming with their circumstances or experiences. they all seem to be characters sort of moving past those huge events in their life, bar kris since at this moment in time they're still dealing with their issues regarding the soul. which i'm sure would be insane to anne and steven, as they sorta gotta jump back into roles they thought were long gone by now.
i wonder if kris's possession would be sort of a relapse for steven? as in, he slots back into this helper role, assuming way too much responsibility for something that isn't even his fault? or perhaps he would be more mellow about it, there to support kris and do his best to help, without trying to do so much on his own.
and anne would be able to offer support in her own ways as well, a little rusty from her last adventure but she knows how to wield a sword. i don't think she would want kris to get hurt. it would haunt her.
imagine the three of them going to a dark world together ahsfksdfks. they would look awesome.
and since i like to believe the dark world reflects what you want to be/appear as, thinking about how they would look is really fun...
steven sort of being in that healer passive role would be neat. would give him a much needed break. and anne as a sort of tank, taking a loot of hits before she goes down. she has a lot of confidence in her own abilities now. and of course kris; still the leader, the knight directing everyone. something like that. that was on the fly.
the experience would be invigorating to anne, but probably super stressful for steven? until they get more comfortable that is.
and- i don't want to discount trauma anne has from amphibia. because she definitely does, and there's a lot of little things that would set her off the same way it would steven. i just think she has a bit of a better view of her time in amphibia than steven does with his whole thing. her last memories are bittersweet, while steven's last memory is like....i am my monster. ashdfksdg. i think his own actions haunt him more than hers. though i'm sure she still has regrets over what happened to sasha and marcy, like blaming herself for so many things that aren't really her fault. she probably falls back into old thinking patterns, back when she knew she didn't love herself.
and these are all characters that actively deal with self-deprecating thoughts about themself. not that it's like that all the time but yknow what i mean. it's a process, some days are worse than others. you get it. they help each other in the only ways they know how.
er..though i'm not sure how much of kris would reach them.
thats a depressing thought to end on.

(Well, looks like now we know what’s happening, and what choice was made. [For context to the viewers, I also worked out a way Nat  could make a case that what was happening was still technically a reblog, which Nat received as a submission. Then she’d choose which idea was better. Since she picked the third blog idea, the other submission never showed up.] I’ll be over to the third blog soon.)
(Until Flowey returns… Monika’s not going to talk about what happened while the two were there. And if Kris decides to try and press Monika on the matter, for whatever reason, and it doesn’t make sense for her to just not give an answer at all… she won’t seem to remember it very well, it’d all be a blur. As if hidden by fog. Yes, Flowey did see the club members, and Flowey eventually did return to his world, and that’s when he became a flower again, but… that’s about all she recalls.)
(This is to prevent the side blog from being forced into a particular outcome. And in the metanarrative, it’s because those events haven’t been decided yet. …So of course the whole memory fog mysteriously goes away the moment the integration happens, if it does happen. If it doesn’t, because you worked out it shouldn’t be canon, I’ll then see if we can work to come up with a vague series of events that does explain what happened. One with the problematic elements removed, and with an outcome you’d have wanted for Flowey. And then, the fog will still mysteriously vanish. Could be one of the leadups to that future second epiphany…)
(All that’s set in stone so far is Flowey visited the DDLC world, has a backup file but doesn’t know if it actually works… and will come back to his own world, being returned to a flower at that moment. So that’s all Monika will remember until more elements come into play. But hopefully, it won’t even come to that, and the topic will just… never come up at all until then. This is mostly a failsafe in case someone tries asking about events that “already happened” but also haven’t been decided on, and it wouldn’t make sense for her to just dodge the question. Though I guess the asks could just never arrive if they start talking about what happened there, or whether or not Monika ever did decide to return to the club as a permanent member...)
(But besides those cases where Monika is explicitly a part of things, like with Kris and the tsundere thing, I’ll be setting her aside here for the time being once the cutoff point is reached. Why won’t she be jumping in to defend Flowey for any new things while the side blog is happening [or, in-universe, directly after he came back to his world]? I’ll probably just say it’s because of when Flowey said he shouldn’t be relying on anyone else, and they should just let him do this on his own, since that’s an actual ask that happened. If he doesn’t even want anyone [which would presumably include Monika] to get involved, would Monika’s attempts even work? How’d that work for her the last time she got herself involved where she wasn’t wanted? Any other reasons behind her not being there for Flowey, she wouldn’t know until that fog went away. That doesn’t mean there won’t be other reasons, we just don’t know what they are yet. For instance, if Monika actually stays in her own world, there’s another reason right there, she won’t have seen what’s been happening to Flowey, she’ll have been running the club.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(I can’t think of much else to add. Thanks for the clarification to any other viewers! I think this’ll work out alright.)
Deltarune Stuff I Think Might Happen Before the Next Chapters Come Out (so I can say I was right)
Papyrus is the Knight. (I have a whole essay on this I just haven't edited it yet).
Gaster won't be evil, but he will be an antagonist at some point.
Gaster will probably make an appearance in Chapter 6, maybe in the Bunker.
Noelle is the angel.
Every Undertale main character will go to a Dark World, except maybe Alphys and probably Mettaton (Unless the whole town turns into a Dark World).
My reasoning is that Toriel, Asgore and Asirel are so obviously important, Toriel is already in a Dark World, Undyne is most likely coming along for the ride, and Sans and Papyrus are connected to Gaster and also Noelle and Dess through Snowdin and the weird bonus content for the Xbox version of Undertale.
Sans will die in the Weird Route, giving us an actual "No Mercy" Papyrus battle.
(I know this sounds edgy but like...Sans is the ONLY main character who doesn't die unless it's a No Mercy Route, mad sus).
Nightmare Knight will be used in some way for the Knight's theme.
Megalo Strike Back will make an appearance, possibly in whatever potential Gaster battle track we get.
Dess has more to do with the secret bosses than we think.
Dess is trapped in a NEO Dark World and/or the Depths.
The Secret Boss Soul Modes are based off the colors behind Sweet Capn' Cakes in the room where you can make them play their Jingle Bells remix.
Asriel is to Dess as Kris is to Noelle.
Gaster is 666, Chara is 999, Papyrus is 333. (I don't remember what the 3's stand for but there was a reason, or if this even matters in context to Deltarune).
Spade King will have an arc dependent on if you manage to recruit everyone, though I don't know if it will mean redemption. I've seen people get really mad at this idea and honestly? As long as it's a sensitive portrayal and has him apologize to Lancer and do better going forwards I'll be fine with it. I only really think this might be true because of how he is in Chapter 2, and that it would be weird to have the only guy actually criticizing you for your actions to be just straight up an evil guy you can ignore. Also, abusers are people too, and fandom spaces have a really hard time accepting that forgiving and growing is just as realistic as cutting the abusive person off. (shout out to @nukedimplosion for putting this into way better words than I could).
And now, for how I think the message of the game will present itself...
The game likes to tell you your choices don't matter right off the bat. I have a hard time believing the "No one can choose who they are in this world" person to be the same guy who was so nice about our "WONDERFUL CREATION," so I'm going to assume there are two different people talking to us.
I think this other person could be Dess.
Gaster, who has survived despite being shattered across space and time, Gaster, who has managed to connect with us, the real world, is ultimately someone who wants to change fate. Pushing and pushing until he gets the result he wants. I think Gaster believes that our choices mean everything. Why else would he gives us a character creator of all things?
But the other voice...
They do not believe in choices. They've been stuck in this pit of nothing, forced to keep going knowing everyone they love is living on without them. They most likely know about the secrets of this world now, having spent so long in its depths. Dess takes away the character creator, forcing you into Kris's body because she didn't get to choose. But some part of her, deep, deep down, wants to believe she still has a choice. So, she put us in someone who has even a slight chance to Find Her.
Someone who remembers the day she disappeared.
Someone who remembers the Bunker. Noelle isn't any help, no matter how much she misses her. Noelle blocks everything out. Asriel is out of town.
It has to be Kris.
It has to be.
And on the other hand, Gaster is optimistic, but some part of him realizes that this could all be for nought too. I think it would be really cool if we have an optimist desperate for freedom, and a pessimist who won't let herself believe in a way out.
(To clarify, I realize this has little to no evidence to back it up, it's just using what we DO have and filling in the blanks with the vibes I get from the characters. Like, I do genuinely believe Gaster likes us and the world of Deltarune. I don't think he's evil or anything. With the tiny bit of info we have on Dess, she seemed like a protective but fun older sister. I think she would feel ashamed for not being able to take care of Noelle while she's stuck, and after having been a very assertive person in her life, feeling hopeless when faced with the seemingly impossible to escape depths for years. Of course, I could be wrong, and she actually has some sick plans for the future or something, and Gaster could be more malicious than he seems. But who knows?)
Oh, and before I get someone asking why Papyrus would overthrow the three kings, every Knight candidate needs a reason to do this, and none of them make sense until we get more context. Another thing: all of the Knight candidates that seem possible either haven't been seen yet or are side content. (Or are Kris. And. I have so many reasons why I don't think they're the Knight. At least, not THE Knight). It's very likely that any of them could be built up in the next couple chapters.
Heck, I think we might see them in Chapter 3, curious as to why a new Dark Fountain has been opened. It would be a neat way to introduce them to the group, being in someone else's Dark World, where they're not fully in control. We would also get to see how they'd act towards the Darkeners of Kris's Dark World. We would be able to get some of their personality, without them being the main focus. At the very least, I think we'll get more hints so they will actually be a satisfying reveal with what we're given. Though, this might result in too many characters...hmm...
Anyway, I think that's it.
I might come back to this if I have more, and depending on how the 14th goes, we might have some new stuff to theorize over.
Well I'm seeing some people talking about this, and I really don't want to get too much into this kind of things (unless I see someone cross any line, then I will talk), but I have two things to say:
(Also I know the problem is mainly in other platforms but I only actively use tumblr so that's why I'm writing this here. And this is not directed to anyone in specific, I just need to let it out)
First of all, I hope all my posting didn't come out as "speculating" or anything, I just find it fun that they are not giving us too much information before hand, because it's making my mind think about all the different possibilities and I like posting them here. But even so, I am so so excited for the next three chapters, whatever they might be. I honestly didn't know about Damon before all this, but he truly looks like such a wonderful and transparent artist and I'll definitely be looking at more of his work because he's truly amazing. So, whatever he gives us, be it just Kris and Bojan, be it all of them individually, be it any ""ship"" content, or be it something else, I'll take it very gladly.
We will get whatever Damon and the guys want to give us and nothing more. They are showing their vulnerabilities to us (because that's what Damon focuses on), and we as a fandom are not in any place to judge or comment about what would or wouldn't be better for them to do. In fact, we should be greatful that they're showing this side of themselves to us. Of course, we can talk about the different possibilities and what we'd like to see; but that's not the same as saying what they should do.
From my honest point of view (which again, doesn't change whatever they do, and I don't want to either), I would really like to see each one of the guys individually because we barely see them like that. Don't get me wrong, I love them together and their photoshoot as a band always have me screaming, but there'a something so nice about the idea of getting to see them individually (like we already did with Bojan and Kris). And it's not because my faves are coincidentally the other three, but because I want all of them to know that we see them. I want all of them to feel appreciated. I want all of them to know that we love them for who they are. They are a band as a whole, and they themselves have made it clear that no one is more important than the others. Each one of them is different and without them Joker Out doesn't exist, at least how we know them right now.
Second of all, I'm actually really thrilled about what the kissing part might mean, but not in the "I want my ships to come true" kinda way (of course I would be very happy if one (or more) of my ships turned out to be true, but then again if it is actually true they should have the opportunity to come out when (or if) they want and how they want, not because of the pressure from the fans.), but in the way that it could actually mean a lot to a lot of people. I'm talking from my perspective as a cis girl here, but I know A Lot of guys (probably 99% of the guys I know) that never show affection for their friends in this kind of ways because "what will people say?". And even though it happens between girls too, it is (from what I've seen and I think people will agree with me on this one) so much worse in the case of guys.
I was actually thinking about this yesterday because I spent the day with my best friend of 18 years, and we spend all the time hugging each other close, giving each other pecks on the cheeks and holding hands, and suddenly it hit me that I never see guys doing that with their friends. I've never seen guys being so affectionate with their friends in this kind of way. And believe me, I have lots of guy friends and they're probably a whole lot closer with each other than I am with most of my friends. But they just never show it in physical ways because even hugging each other is seen as something bad for some (very stupid) reason.
Where I was going with this is that I really really appreciate the fact that the guys from Joker Out are always so open about their affection for each other (eg. when they hug each other all the time, Bojan ruffling everyone's hair, Jure calling them "my boys" and saying he's really happy just being with them, all their shenanigans on stage, the whole "conspiracy theory" thing, them sharing kisses from time to time, and so on and so forth), because I've personally NEVER seen anyone being like that and it truly feels like an inspiration.
And on top of all of this, if we get Damon actually photographing any of this (again, be it whatever they want it to be) and sharing it with the world feels truly freeing in some way.
And what if some of them are actually queer? What if all of them are queer? What if none of them are? What if they never want to address any of this and just keep living their lives however they want like the normal people they are? We shouldn't care and we shouldn't push them to share anything about their personal lives because they don't have to.
I just want guys (and everyone in the world but you know what I mean) to be able to kiss and hug their friends, I want guys to be able to say "I love you" or "I miss you" to their friends without having to worry about what everyone will think or people speculating on their sexualities. I really hope someday people will understand that it's not bad to show platonic affection and love and that it's just as important as romantic love...
The Two Losers of Hometown
Tumblr media
So, I replayed deltarune again, which isn't really anything new, I always replay it from time to time. But this time I kinda started thinking about two characters that I never really see much discussion about. Monster kid and Snowy. A large part could be well, they aren't really important to the story as of chapter 2. But I feel like there's a lot of potential with them.
Looking at their dialog, it really feels like they only talk to each other because they really don't have anyone else to talk to. I feel this way because in chapter one they're both only partners because Kris was late to class and Monster kid didn't have any other option, as monster kid mentions being Snowy’s partner to Kris like it's something they really didn’t want. But Snowy and Monster kid can be seen hanging out outside of school, so maybe it's not so bad for poor old MK.
There's a few lines that imply that monster kid and kris actually have history together, similar to how frisk and monster kid were "friends" in undertale. It's hard to tell how close they really were since there is barely any dialog that I'm aware of that hints to Kris's feelings about monster kid. There is a line in chapter 1, after a joke about the 3 armless students in class playing handball, Monster kid says that Susie sucks and Kris looks annoyed at Monster kid. Which probably doesn't help their already weak relationship. Monster kid seems to know something about Kris and the bunker because of what they say to Snowy when they're contemplating about going in, whether Kris told them something about it or it's just a general rumor that everyone knows is kind of hard to tell. And going back to what I said about the lack of dialog mentioning Monster kid, there actually isn't any dialog about monster kid in the game (that I'm aware of) aside from when they're directly being interacted with by Kris or Snowy. This is probably because it's hard to have a character talk about them without a name drop, and it would be really weird from someone like Noelle to refer to them as "monster kid".
Snowy is the character that's probably most up for interpretation since we know the least about him. And most about what we do know about him can be inferred from undertale. His real name is Snowdrake but he got the nickname Snowy from his mom, He likes making jokes, his moms dead. And this is a really huge one, that I didn't even know before checking the wiki, IN UNDERTALE HE RAN AWAY FROM HOME BECAUSE OF HIS DAD?
Tumblr media
It's not clear what Snowy means by his dad being "cold" but to avoid discussing any unsavory topics, I'll leave it at that his home situation was bad enough for him to decide to run away. It's pretty easy to infer that Snowy uses humor to deal with all of the stuff going on in his life just because of the fact that his life wasn't all that great in deltarune/undertale with his mom being dead. But him trying to play off him running away from home, by cracking a pun about it practically confirms it. Snowy and his dad's relationship seems to be healthier in deltarune since Snowy hasn't decides to run away from home, but his dad still seems to be stern as snowy mentions that his dad "wouldn't let him see the end of it" if he got caught skipping class like kris in chapter one. It's actually pretty sad that Snowy doesn't really seem to have that many friends outside of monster kid since it seems that his coping mechanism of always making jokes as well him being quick to anger seems to be why people avoid him.
I guess that's all I really gotta say right now, these dorks have a surprising amount of depth to them despite not having major roles in both of the games they're in. I just hope they get used some day; But that's probably wishful thinking. I only say that because right now they both give off strong background character energy. Mostly because of Snowy being a recycled enemy from undertale and monster kid not even having an official "name". Which sucks because I feel like you could write a really cool story with these two.
Hi. Could we please get a post of Wmmap headcanons with Jen, Ana and Kristina after they leave Obelia?
Ooo, no one’s every asked me this before
Hm. I feel like I’ve thought about it, but at the same time have never actually thought about it.
I guess I should put some spoiler warnings since I do kinda plan for LPFS to follow the main storyline? To an extent at least, so be warned.
• I don’t know for sure if Anastasius has lost his magic, but from what Lucas implied, Jen and Ana haven’t lost their magic. They just lost the genes that provide imperial magic (which manifests in their eyes). So in this headcanon, he still has his magic.
• Ana probably has no morally good/socially acceptable ways of paying for stuff since he mainly lived in hiding, and before that it was being the future emperor. Kristina also doesn’t trust him that much, so she has to accompany him at all times when they’re out buying stuff.
• There are significantly great parallels between Ana and Athy that are drawn, so in this headcanon Anastasius has tried to magically summon money illegally but Jen and Kristina have to stop him (Kristina then proceeds to mention that Roger(?)Claude(?)Athy(?) has entrusted her with their funds because why the hell would they entrust Ana with their funds)
• Because they had to leave the palace in a hurry (as well as figure out what clothes were the least inconspicuous and don’t scream royalty), one of the first things they do is go on a shopping trip. Jennette absolutely loves the dresses sold in the townsplace and markets because they’re so light and airy and minimalistic in comparison to the very decorated and accessorized gowns in high society.
• Jen’s the one who mainly eludes to Ana’s new wardrobe style since Kristina has no sense of taste when it comes to clothes if it isn’t for children.
• After a while it suddenly dawns upon the father-daughter duo that ‘wait, Krissy what about your clothes’
• So now Jen excitedly goes around and tries clothes on her maternal figure since she’s only ever seen Kristina in a servants’ uniform. Whenever Jen asks for her father’s opinion, he just awkwardly does nod, shake head, or thumbs up or down.
• I talked about it before in a previous post, but Kristina and Anastasius have a weird relationship. It’s not that he hates or likes her, if anything he’s thankful to her, but he can definitely sense that she doesn’t quite like him. You know, that feeling when you want to get along with someone but you have the feeling they don’t really like you.
• Despite her weird feelings toward Ana, she does feel he sincerely cares about Jen, so she tries to make opportunities for them to bond more as a father-daughter pair (when shopping for new clothes for Jen, asking for his opinion; leaving them alone together during some activities, suggesting family outings and etc.)
• Jen’s particularly sensitive to people’s emotions, so she knows that her dad and her ‘mother’ don’t particularly seem to get along too well. So while Kris is trying to set up father-daughter bonding, Jen is also at the same time trying to get them closer
• Whether that works or not, I’m still not sure jsgdjdbsjb
• Jen love love loves the ocean and sightseeing.
• Jen also loves interacting with new people. Since it’s a harbor town(?), I can assume there’s be quite a bit of foreigners. Jen’s never had the opportunity to socialize outside maybe one or two tea parties, so she likes listening to the stories of people she’s never met or seen before
• I don’t even know if I would have wanted Ana and Kristina to get together at some point, so for now they have the novel Felix and Lily relationship where they coparent a child. It is a bit awkward when Jen calls Anastacious ‘Father’ and then turns to call Kristina ‘Mom’.
• Jen likes sending seashells with her letters to Athy, Kiel and Roger. Kristina teaches her to make jewelry out of seashells and sea glass, in which she sends to Athy (in which Athy wears whenever she has beach and water-themed outfits).
• Jen also gets other letters, in which I’ll write a mini one shot about later :) Needless to say, Ana is conflicted in that he’s protective of her as a father, but wonders if he has the right to as he has been absent her whole life
• Their house is much smaller than the Alpheus estate, but still reasonably big. After all, it’s an Alpheus beach house (a ducal family’s beach house). For privacy reasons, there are probably only very few servants (like four or five?) so it does feel lonely, which is why the three often have food together.
• Speaking of, Kristina is the only reason why they can eat well cooked and nicely presented food. Jen helps every now and then, slowly learning, but Ana is absolutely banned from the kitchen.
• It’s noted that Jen calls Kristina ‘Mom’, but still when referring to Penelope calls her ‘Mother’. They are both her mothers, but they do not replace one another and she wants to make that clear.
• Oh yes, hobbies. Jen likes to sew and make dresses (based off of how many dolls she has in the Manhwa), especially since she gets inspired so easily with new experiences. So much so that her designs actually gain a bit of attention and ladies come and commission some from her.
• This also applies to her sea themed jewelry, which is especially popular due to it being a harbor town.
• Ana also??? Needs friends??? And hobbies???
• Maybe the local bartender idk, someone he can rant to without any ickiness
• “I used to be an emperor you know”
• “haha I like your jokes funny man”
• Kristina would still be attached to Protea and Erith (Ijekiel’s nanny), so I imagine she’d write letters to them often. Ijekiel’s an adult by then I think, right? So I guess Erith wouldn’t really be his nanny anymore. She’ll probably visit occasionally since Kristina’s letters—in comparison to Jen’s—are kinda dry so she needs to see in person how they’re doing.
Otherwise, I can’t think of anything else of their Mieta life svdjvdjd
JOKER OUT STOŽICE - REVIEW
Sorry for this review coming out this late. I know the album has been out for me for the past 14 hours, but 1. Fandom is not my life priority and 2. Yesterday I was close to collapsing due to dehydration, hunger, and lack of sleep so I hope you understand why I'm putting this out now (I'm okay)
Sunny Side Of London
I don't have a lot to comment on because we already had this song, but I'll never not say that SSOL live is so much better than the studio version ESPECIALLY because of the ending. We don't get 30 seconds of emptiness but we get a wholeass show!
Gola
The perfect transition???? I didn't notice the song changed.
I love how you can hear the people singing along
ZA NAJYU
I got ads between songs -_- (3, I hate you Spotify)
Bele Sanje
THE TRANSITION
IT'S SO GOOD
IT'S LIKE BEING THERE
Plastika
Bojan's interpretation is so good.
He didn't get too invested - which could be bad because he could lose the vocal aspect - but instead he did just enough for us to get the message and keep the quality, which I love(I hope this makes sense)
PLAAAASTIKA
Ads...
Proti Toku
See, I think on this one he was close to cross the line of "too much interpretation".
Kris' voice???? Audible??? 👀
Dopamin
My baby <3
Inject Kris' back vocals in my veins
ZAMEEE
I had to take a break to go groccery shopping and have lunch
Padam
it's so good live...it has no right
It was the best song in the Madrid gig and I can say it sounds just as good here
You can hear the guitars so clearly
Idk if it's just me, but I would think people would be quiet during this song because it's so depressing, but it sounds nice either way.
BOJAN'S INTERPRETATION>>>>>>
FUCKING ADS
Demoni
They still need to make the break between Padam and Demoni longer, imo. We need time to process our feelings.
DEMONI SCREAM
KAD NEMAN TEBE
Katrina
POVEJ MI KATRINA
Don't mind me, I'm just doing a quick google search on how to have JO's discography in my veins
A sem ti povedal
HELLO???? THIS INTRO!???
My mom called me to help with shores halfway through it -_-
The isolation of Bojan's voice IS SUCH A GOOD CHOICE
Bojan stop trying to make me cry
INTERROGATION: Spade King
(Transcribed by Prince Ralsei)
Kris raps the bars.
KING: We have NOTHING to talk about.
RALSEI: Um, actually, Mr. King… we do have something to talk about. You see, Lancer—
SUSIE: Shut up. Let me do the talking.
RALSEI: Um… but I was thinking we could try a more, um, diplomatic approach? ….Kris, why don’t you decide?
KRIS: …
RALSEI: Kris?
SUSIE: You good, dude?
KRIS: Uh. Let Susie do the talking.
RALSEI: Okay, Kris. If that’s what you think is best, then… tell him, Susie!
SUSIE: Yeah. I will. Hey. King Loser. You still care about your son? Well, here’s your chance to prove it. He’s missing, and some grey guy said it was ’cause of you.
KING: I know not of which you speak.
RALSEI: You… don’t?
KING: No.
SUSIE: Heh. Liar. Owe it to Lancer not to hurt you and all, but… you’re really pissing me off, you know? He could be anywhere right now, probably alone, lost and confused, and you—you won’t even—hell, do you even care about him at all?!
KING: Watch your tone, Lightner!
SUSIE: No, YOU watch your goddamn tone! You know, I’m so #%&ing sick of you! It’s not like you can just hand Lancer off to Queen just because he’s just not your problem anymore! You really want to have a son? Better start acting like it! I mean, he won’t even talk about you! And you go and tell me to watch my tone? I get I’m not the greatest friend ever, but at least I’m there for him! I wouldn’t ever abandon him just ’cause he’s not who I want him to be! He’s my friend! And if something happened to him, I—I know I wouldn’t just sit sulking in some stupid hamster cage. I’d go out there and GET HIM THE HELL BACK. You got a problem with that? Huh? DO YOU?
RALSEI: Susie… are you okay?
SUSIE: Yeah, it’s whatever, I just—I’m gonna ask you one more time. Have. You. Seen. Lancer.
KING: …yes.
SUSIE: …
KING: …
SUSIE: And???
KING: Patience. He came bearing a warning, of a threat on my life, and intending to defend me.
SUSIE: God, you don’t deserve him.
KING: Hah hah hah… it was empty words, girl. He could not have stood his ground, faced with a true threat to me.
SUSIE: …yeah he could’ve. Really could’ve. Trust me.
KING: Hm.
SUSIE: So… you tell him anything after that?
KING: Indeed.
SUSIE: Like???
KING: That he could and should not guard me. Don’t look so surprised—if someone were trying to attack those my son cared about, do you really think it would be safer for him to stay close to them? No. If there was a true threat to my life, the smartest thing would be to stay away.
RALSEI: What happened then?
KING: My son left.
RALSEI: Oh.
SUSIE: He say where he was going?
KING: No.
SUSIE: Well, did he—
KING: I have answered your questions, Lightners. We have nothing more to talk about. Begone.
SUSIE: Argh! Fine! You’d better hope we find him.
The Heroes of Light leave the dungeon.
SUSIE: Man, something about that felt… weird.
RALSEI: What do you mean?
SUSIE: Dunno. Unfinished.
KRIS: Wasn’t telling us something.
SUSIE: Huh? Kris? You think he’s hiding stuff too?
RALSEI: Oh. Why ever would he do that? Hmm. Um… maybe we could try going back and being… politer?
SUSIE: Nah. Let’s just look for Lancer.
RALSEI: Okay!
SUSIE: Hey Ralsei?
RALSEI: Yes, Susie?
SUSIE: You know you can stop writing everything we say down now???
RALSEI: Oh! Right! Haha.
