Notes: Thank you SO SO much gorgeous<3 I’m like kinda embarrassed that this is kinda shit, especially because you’re writing is so fucking gorgeous, so I’m sorry.

“YOU!”
With a start that almost makes him drop the vase in his hands, Sirius turns around to find his surly looking  boyfriend glaring daggers straight at him, lips pursed and nose wrinkled ever so fetchingly. “Me?”
“You!”
“ Is this a Muggle game of semantics or something Moons, because for the life of me I’m not following.”
Remus’s glower only deepens, radiating a distinct sort of disapproval that could only ever be  honed in by years of prefectness. “You thief!” He squawks, hands perched on his hips, and mouth twisted up mutinously.
“Is this the part where you say I stole your heart?” Sirius goads with a cocked brow, resuming their unpacking.  “Because love, that line gets old after the millionth recital, but I do appreciate the spirit.”
“Wha? Na—no that is not what I was going to say you egotistical prick!” Remus scoffs— just a bit flustered with a dusting of pink touching the tops of his sharp cheekbones. “You ate the last spring role!” He accuses emphatically, almost tripping over the over a dozen boxes that are strewn across their newly furnished living room. Sirius can’t help but be endeared by Remus and his everythingness.
“Yes, yes I did Wise Guy,” He confirms distractedly. “I also dipped it into some spicy mustard and drank a bottle of water while I was at it… Your point being?”
“My point you utter berk is that it was mine! I called dibs!”
“I remember no such thing,” Sirius sniffs haughtily, moving to rearrange the photographs  on their mantel. (And yeah, it’s still fucking insane to him that he’s become so domestic that he’s got a mantel over the fireplace that the man he loves more than any other had insisted was absolutely crucial to have if they were to move in together—probably for really romantical love making sessions in front  of it’s flames with the bliss of  no worries of anyone barging in on them, or griping  if they were being to loud—Which by the way, James honestly  had no right in complaining about considering his track record with his and Lily’s on again, off again mating ritual.
“Liar!" Sirius honestly  wouldn’t be surprised if Remus started stomping his feet right about now, and pouting up a storm if the childishly  cross expression    on his pretty face is anything to go by. (And honestly how could one man be so adorable and sexy all at once.)  “You were finishing up the shrimp tempura— because you are a posh idiot without any tastebuds— , and I said that I’ll be right back to get some of the boxes in the spare room, and to save it for me! And then I come here, and I find this! This breach of all we’ve built together!”
Sirius barely conceals his snort. “Is that right? The foundations of our whole, entire bloody relationship? And right after this afternoon, when I made you—“
Two spots of color blotch high on Remus’s cheeks and he cuts him off before Sirius can completely recount the frankly remarkable romp they had just finished with before deciding they needed some nourishment before getting back to unpacking. “Don’t you try to change the subject you stealing stealer who steals!”
“That insult leaves something to be desired Moonbeam.”
“You’re a prick.”
“And you wound me!” Sirius mock sobs, slamming his fist against his chest and swinging back his arm against his forehead. “A plague on you, and your family! And another on your family’s cow.”
Remus’s face morphs into his painfully unimpressed expression, (Hint, it’s very, very flat). “I’ll take your intentional dodge as an admission,” He scoffs, arms crossed tight against his chest.
“I admit nothing!” Sirius shouts in an overdone accent that would better fit the set of Downton Abbey. “Nothing Lupin!”
Remus rolls his eyes at Sirius’s hyperbolic attitude, and okay. Yes. Perhaps Sirius remembers a similar conversation akin to what Remus had described  occurring only ten minutes prior. But to be quite honest, Sirius was hardly listening. Remus’s got on one of Sirius’s oversized t-shirts, a pair of boxer-briefs,  and nothing else. So yeah, he should definitely not be expected to be paying anything any mind while his beyond gorgeous boyfriend is sitting there, impossibly long legs put out for display, and one perfectly alabaster   shoulder bare where the shirt has slipped right off, effectively derailing  Sirius's thoughts to how he’d teasingly kissed across his collar bone just earlier that night, nibbling on the hinge of his jaw while Remus had been  writhing beneath him. so   Really and truly, he should’ve never been expected to remember anything— let alone something as trivial as dibs—  if his utterly perfect partner is right there for the taking, a determined dent between his brows, and intermittently rinsing his hand through his disheveled locks of hair like  spun gold, excited  over the prospect of fixing up this flat that is now their home.
Dear Merlin above   does Sirius love this bloke with every fiber of his being.
“Well,” he relents, swaggering up closer to Remus so that they’re standing only inches apart.  “Even if I did remember that such a discussion had taken place how you’ve described it—“
“It did, and you know it Black!” He harrumphs, using Sirius’s  surname just to get a rise out of him.
“Well, there’s nothing we can do about it now love, is There?.”
Sirius’s sure that he’s won the argument and they could just move on, until he catches the glint in Remus’s impossibly luminous eyes—a glint that always means trouble, a glint that’s never failed to make each one of Sirius’s nerve endings go ablaze.
“Is that right?”
“I reckon it is Moonbeam,” he leers, is momentarily distracted by the downright angelic smile Remus casts his way right then, but suddenly, an onslaught of fingers are piercing into his ribs, wiggling and tickling him into submission.
“Say you’re sorry!” Remus demands, an effortless grin of his own swept across his lovely face, brighter than the morning sun. And yeah, maybe Sirius should just admit that it was his bad, apologize a thousand times over in the form of lingering kisses and caressing hands.… But the thing is, Sirius’s  stubbornness  has always been too rigid for his own good, and he’s always loved prodding at Remus till He just went off like the world’s most darling firecrackers.
“Never you absolute wanker!”
“I won’t relent till you profess an apology to my satisfaction,” Remus scoffs— a playful giggle lilting his overly formal words.
“And I won’t surrender!” He parries with a leer. Sirius tickles back  harder, and Remus  shimmies around so much that He ends up jabbing him in the eye,  ramming straight into his chest, and  effectively sprawling them—all long limbs and crooked angles—onto the wooden floorboards.
“Just say you’re sorry!” He insists, strangled laughter starting to gargle his words while Sirius just gazes down at him, mercilessly besotted.
“”S not my fault you didn’t take it with you Lupin, i’ve committed no grievance.”
“Oh come off it pretty boy.”
“Oy! I’m ruggedly handsome you arse!”
“Testy, testy.”
 “You’re the pretty one.”
“Oh suck my cock.”
“Been there done that.”
Remus seems to be fighting down another laugh before he knees him lightly in the abdomen enough that Sirius tenses, giving Remus the chance to  switch their positions once again, so that  He’s back  on top.
“My have the tables turned,” He taunts with one of his most dazzling smiles, dimples in full effect, and crinkles around his pretty sea glass eyes.
“I like how you think I’m at all opposed to this position,” Sirius says with a pixilated gleam, arching back enough so that their cotton clad dicks buck up against each other.
“Perv!” Remus scolds, smacking his chest playfully. “Now admit that I won!”
“Never!”
Somehow, amidst all the thrashing bodies and choked peals of laughter, Sirius flips him over— slight body beneath his own, with Remus’s wrists pinned over his head and his legs wrapped around Sirius’s waste.
“Now, now Monsieur Moony, I reckon that spring has rolled into winter for you,” Sirius most definitely does not laugh raucously    at his own pun.
“That’s not even the direction that the seasons go in,” Remus frowns, nose wrinkled indelicately, a tell Sirius’s picked up on whenever He’s mad over an outcome.
“You still lost though,” Sirius barbs with no real bite, pecking a quick kiss to his lips in solace.
“You’re awful, and I’m breaking up with you,” Remus sniffs in turn—wiggling underneath him to try and get loose.
“Oh, you love me really.” Sirius preens like the cat who’s caught the canary— the world’s most beautiful and brilliant and ruffled canary that is.
“Lies and slander!” Remus waggles his tongue between his teeth, and Sirius dips down to bite it teasingly.
“Hmm, now isn’t this cute,” the pair scramble away from each other, utterly stunned once spotting Lily of all people, gaze twinkling and lips set into a firm smirk, eyeing them while leisurely lounging against the door frame.
“You two really can’t keep yr sodding hands off of each other, can you?”
Remus completely reddens, totally flustered, while Sirius only follies back a smug sort of grin at the force of nature  that is Lily Evans, his practical sister-in-law, remus’s best friend, and all around genius.
“How long have you been watching Red dearest,” Sirius asks wryly, making it so now Lily’s the one who’s flushing..
“I hate you Black.” She says shortly, and Sirius’s beam doesn’t falter. “Re, as your spiritual older sister—“
“You’re barely a month older Lils,” Remus interjects, but Lily just goes on as if he hadn’t.
“I think it’s my job to remind you that he’s not the only bloke in London with a decent shoulder to waste ratio and nice hair. We can snag you someone with a bit of brains even.”
Sirius tosses her a V shaped salute, and Lily sticks her tongue out in retaliation,  but for his part, Remus only tries to cut through the tension with one of his friendlier grins, though it just comes out as an awkward grimace. “I forgot that you’re dropping off the boxes tonight.”
“Evidently Ace,” she snorts, strutting further into the apartment and setting down the box of photos Remus had asked her to bring over from their old place. “Far too busy snogging with the boy who single handedly received the most detentions in Hogwarts history, while also, somehow— by the grace of God— threatened our stances as top of the class.”
“Oy Evans, can’t take all the credit for myself. Jem was my better half, till he moved on to the likes of you.”
Lily ignores him, save for the way her pretty face gets a bit scrunched out of irritation. “Ace, I ask you, what would McGonagall say if she saw her favorite prefect gallivanting around with such a delinquent.
Remus lets out one of his rare and beautiful laughs, something that feels buoyant and is really more breath than sound, but is still so vibrant and splendid and it never fails to thrust Sirius back to the Hogwarts Express, where he and Remus had first met as a couple of wide eyed eleven year olds, and all the contradicting emotions Remus had provoked upon first sight. Wonder, and confusion. Intrigue, and diffidence. Wanting, and fear. It’s an attribute of Remus's that Sirius will never not be amazed by.
“Ah, Minnie my love, how I do miss her so, now where were we Moonbeam?”
“I’m still standing here Black,” Lily reproves with a scoff.
“I think it was about here,” Sirius continues, dipping down to kiss at Remus’s protruding  collar bones.
“Settle down mutt,” Remus rebukes with no real heat, a gentle hand carding through Sirius’s hair.
“God, you two are already an old married couple.”
“You really do know the best moments to interrupt sweetheart.” Sirius snipes with a playful roll to his eyes, his hand discretely resting over the small of Remus’s back.
“And you have no decency, corrupting   Remus the way that you do.”
“Okay first, I take fucking offense, you know better than me that Moony here was the mastermind behind most of our delightful pranks.”
“You mean your childish inconveniences you plagued on the unsuspecting public?”
“And secondly, we didn’t even get to the fun, currupting   part because of your oh so lovely interruption.” Sirius retorts moodily, though he soon suspects the joke was a wrong play to make  when Lily’s smile suddenly goes predatory and sHe flips back a lock of her wind blown curls, ready to pounce.
“Well perhaps I just stopped by to make sure you weren’t further defiling   my dear Remus. But I guess that giant love bite on your neck proves that I’m too late.”
Sirius can’t help the chuckle that pours out of his lips at her needled observation, smacking a hand to conceal the hickey sHe’s taunting him about, knowing exactly where it is, it’s been a topic of teasing all morning long from a smug Sirius to a properly indignant Remus.
“He-he just marks easily,” Remus pipes out, cheeks completely infused red and worrying on his bottom lip. Sirius suspects that Lily just knew that the one chink in his armor is prodding at Remus’s less than poised acts.
Lily rolls her eyes in a way that convinces Sirius that sHe doesn’t believe it for a second. “Whatever you say oh Saint Remus,” sHe smirks with no more argument. “but pray tell, are you guys about done swapping spit around me? Or is that going to forever be a regular occurrence in the Remus and Sirius show?”
“Now I’d reckon that’ll get a sold out crowd every night, don’t you?” Sirius asks, directing his question at the pair of  of them while taking Remus’s hand, and pushing him even closer— just always preferring to have some sort of contact with him.
“Oh put a sock in it,” Remus harrumphs, finally starting to return to his normal coloring in the midst of Lily’s unrestrained cackles.
“Aw, don’t be shy love, it’s only the truth.”
Remus presses the pads of his fingers to Sirius’s lips and glares at him for good measure, “Some things are better left for private.”
“Hah,” Lily scoffs, weight slung to her left hip. “As if I don’t get a front row seat every time  you two are within even in a ten foot radius of each other—OH hey, I know that look Ace! The one eyed squint, and the teeth. Well your “I’m about to kill my gorgeous best friend,” look has no place here, i’ll see my way out now. Just promise not to christen every room in this place, kay? We’d all like to visit without the residual specs haunting us! And I know how moody you get without your daily dose of my scintillating company.”
Sirius thinks that Remus’s trying to skewer a whole in the spot where Lily was just standing, if the terribly cross look on his face says anything. It’s precious, Sirius can’t help but snicker.
“Don’t laugh at me! I’m your boyfriend for Merlin’s sake! You’re s’pose to be on my side!”
“I wasn’t laughing at you Moons,” he kisses the fingers Remus has still got on his mouth, mock consolatory.  “Just incredibly turned on.”
That dent between Remus’s brows is back again for a moment, but then his beauteous features smoothen out and He just pecks a quick kiss to Sirius’s lips before rifling through the box Lily brought over, muttering a light,”Whatever,” as He does so.
There’s a quick wrapping to the window, and Sirius glances over to find his owl— Odysseus— with a bundle of letters attached to his left leg. By rote, Sirius feeds him some of the pellets they keep  there for convenience, and unwinds the bundle of parchments, beginning to shuffle through them.
There’s a copy of the Nightly prophet with the murder of another Muggle family splattered all over the front cover in a sickeningly gauche manner, a free trial subscription to the Quibbler with a reading for Scorpios in the month of October, a letter from Peter about his mum and sisters driving him up the rails, an invitation from Marlene for he and Remus to come out to dinner with them for Dorcas’s Birthday, and a ominous letter from James of all paper that simply says a gift for Moony.
Bewildered to why he hadn’t just sent it along with Lily, Sirius tares off the attached photograph only to find something truly, horrendously vile. a photograph of himself. One that was definitely taken fifth year— Sirius’s worst year where he absolutely could not stand being around his family for a moment longer, and James was getting more settled with his studies, an Remus was dating that prefect prick from Ravenclaw and was exceedingly elusive from Marauders nights out.  This was so obviously taken on one of those aforementioned nights out that it’s comical.  Sirius’s hair is as long as it’s ever been— touching the tops of his shoulders— and he’s chugging down a fruity, pink concoction— the type  that Rosmerta was always cooking up for them— hand over fist, and he’s got on puppy ears and a fake nose. In layman’s terms he looks like a complete and total pillock. Drunk off his ass so much so that you can see the stars in his eyes even through the clunky glasses he had stolen from James— convinced that he was sporting them for purely esthetic reasons and not because the knob is actually as blind as a bloody bat— and his finger is pointed and mouth is open in the way it always is when he’s ranting about something or the other.
It’s perhaps the only photograph in history where Sirius isn’t looking his typical, jaw dropping gorgeous self.
There’s about a thousand different retorts he wants to scribble on a spare parchment and  shoot right back to James— ranging from nasty to downright despicable— but then he catches the familiar peal of laughter coming from behind him. He’s not surprised when he sees Remus—beautiful, ingenuous, perfect Remus who’s physically incapable of taking a photograph less than effortlessly lovely, even while pissed— peering over his shoulder in utter amusement.
“Oh My God I need to ask James to send me one of the hundreds of copies he surely has.”
“You wouldn’t dare,” Sirius retorts darkly.
“I’ll use an enlarging charm and hang it up above the mantel, for prosperity. The one time Sirius looks the way he acts,” he moves his hand over an invisible marquee and looks so damn smug that Sirius could kiss him, and in fact, that’s exactly what he does.
“I hate him,” is all he says afterwards, once he’s pulled away.
“I can’t believe that’s you!” Remus continues with eyes full of mirth.
“I want to banish him, no. No I want to banish all of them. All of our friends, we can make knew ones Moons. I mean look at us! We’re a catch!” He tosses the letters onto the newly acquired sofa as if they have personally affronted  him and all he stands for.
“ Oh brilliant idea love.”
“That sounds like your sarcastic voice Moons.”
“No, you’ve got my full support. this’s our castle Pads, we can banish whom ever we like,” Remus balances on his tiptoes,  and smacks an exasperated kiss onto his cheek. Sirius can barely contain the glee that’s dancing in his eyes at the thought of this being their own personal castle— a fortress just for the pair of them to escape within—  causing another swell of fondness to pound in his chest.
“Well maybe we can give’m another chance,” he relents, melting into how Remus’s locked his arms around his neck, and is smiling up at him with all the love in the world shining unadulteratedly in his lovely eyes. “I mean they did help us move all those boxes and all.”
Remus hums his agreement while he presses his forehead against his own, endlessly endeared.
“What a generous king,” He goads, words hugged with fondness.
“Ooo, I like that, call me that in bed and I might bless you with my royal sector.”
Remus thumps his nose, “Your more tolerable when you don’t speak and just stand there being pretty.”
“Aw, you think I’m pretty Moonykins?”
Remus shakes his head ruefully, the smile on his face one that Sirius knows well— one that means he’s reluctantly endeared. “Dork.”
“Plonker.”
There lips meet for another kiss and it feels like all the resplendence in the galaxy being distilled between just the two of them.

When I first got into Downton Abbey, just watching bits and pieces, I was like “this show sucks because no one is allowed to have any friends“ but at a certain point (I think post or mid my only proper watch-through) I switched to “actually part of the quiet brilliance of this show is that everyone is lonely, no one has friends, and though they are surrounded by other people there’s usually a Reason those people aren’t friends which would take work to get past and might not even work out if they tried”.
I still reblog “imagine Thomas friendship with X” posts but I do it with a twinge now

Not to be the type of person who posts meta about NBC Hannibal but I think it's a misconception that the life Hannibal lives in Florence with Bedelia was the life he had wanted for him and Will, just with Bedelia slotted into his place. But in my opinion, that was never supposed him and Will. Like that's not at all the place he had made for Will and Abigail and him bc never in a million years would Will be interested in that lifestyle, and that's something that Hannibal knows. Like that's just not Will "lives in the middle of nowhere Virginia with his 7 rescued dogs and fly fishes on the weekends" Graham AT ALL.
But what it IS, is Hannibal trying to forget the life that he wanted. It's a more grandiose version of his existing life in Baltimore, a place where he was respected and had a position of authority and esteem. He was surrounded by beauty and culture and art and in Florence, he kicks it up to the nth degree to compensate. Bedelia is smart, cunning, beautiful, and cruel and he thinks that that might entertain him for a while. He doesn't see her as beneath him (at least not entirely) bc she is one of the only ppl who had seen behind the mask before the blowout at the end of season 2. But she's not Will. She might have an idea of what exists under the "human veil" but Will understands and finds beauty in it even though it repulses him on a certain level. Bedelia sees Hannibal as a rare dangerous spider, something intriguing but ultimately off-putting and best squashed or at the very least kept under observation.
Hannibal is trying to forget the life he wanted. That whole section is his him trying to prove to himself that he can still be "happy" without him, bc he has this beautiful woman in this beautiful place surrounded by beautiful things, things he enjoys. But the point is that might have sated him before but not anymore bc it's not the life, it's the person and he's never had that ever. He and Will could live in a cave in the middle of the woods with Will and feel more fulfillment in a single moment there than any amount of time in his fake life as Roman Fell with Bedelia. And that's why it's so easy for Hannibal to set that life on fire after less than a year bc it doesn't work, he thought he could make it work and he couldn't. "Do you believe you could change me the way I've changed you?" "I already did." And Will was right, he did. I think in a world before he met Will, he could have just cut and run and not been affected at all but bc of that change, bc of Will's influence, that just wasn't something that was ever gonna happen.

Not to wax poetic about Dishonored in 2021 but there's something about the forcible creation of an unwilling god and a congregation that is actively hostile against him that really makes clear the world the characters live in

Sometimes I wake up in the morning and think about how Thomas must have woken up in the morning and thought about the fact that, regardless of how often either actually occurred, the people his lover touched most often were likely him and the King of England and just....  Even though he couldn’t give two shits about the monarchy, the fact that most people would care about that fact a lot must have made him feel so giddy and smug

I would probably sell my soul to watch Thomas and Richard get a nice plot line in the sequel, but honestly at this point the bar for JF is on the floor because all I would need to live peacefully is for Thomas to get a letter at breakfast, glance at it, smile, and then when Daisy or someone asks who it’s from just casually be like “Oh, Mr. Ellis again.” Hell he could even just be like “Just another one from London.” That’s all I need! That’s all I’m asking for!!!

Okay this INAUGURATION! Sonya Sotomayor giving Kamala Harris the oath, Lady fucking Gaga, the stupid looking Space Force flag, Ella Emhoff wearing the most iconic inauguration outfit that has ever been seen, the pledge of allegiance in sign language, Biden’s granddaughter’s pink coat, masks above everyone’s noses, J. Lo with “This Land is Your Land” in Spanish, nobody having to introduce Trump because he wasn’t there, Joe calling out white supremacy and white terrorism, Bernie’s mittens, the government acknowledging both COVID and climate change for the crises that they are, Amanda Gorman the Queen! Do I wish it was a less God-centric? uh yeah. Do we still have a long long long long way to go? uh yeah. But THIS is the 2021 I need!!

Hey!
Instead of calling us Snape apologists, why don’t we start calling y’all Marauder apologists?
After all, you seem to be apologizing for James and Sirius’s shitty behavior. However, we aren’t apologizing for Severus’s shitty behavior. Unlike the Marauder apologists, we embrace Sev’s darkness. We explore it and debate about it. All you Marauder apologists do is make fluffy headcanons about James being the most progressive dude on the planet and Remus and Sirius being super gay when the former was probably straight (though I don’t mind a Remus who’s bi). Now, not to say I’m hating on y’all (some of your headcanons aren’t too bad) but I’m just saying: Aren’t you guys apologizing for your faves? You don’t see us erasing Sev’s bad behavior, but we see y’all erasing James and Sirius’s bad behavior all the time.
Say it with me: “Marauder Apologist.”
Louder: “MARAUDER APOLOGIST!”

I swear on my mother’s love that if the HP series was told from Severus’s POV, 90% of the fandom would hate Lily and the Marauders.

Again, thank you SO MUCH for doing this survey! In total, we got 128 responses! That’s awesome! Even though this wasn’t as successful as the last one, it was still pretty good! Could you let me know in the notes whether you want to see ships for other characters? That would be amazing and it would provide me with more ideas on content I could give y’all. Have an awesome day/night and I’ll catch you in the next one!

So......I saw a bunch of reblogs of Jenna Coleman in period clothing on my dash & immediately thought @fictionxlover is at it again but then I looked properly at the post & was shocked it’s you lmao
Lol. I feel like I should explain.
So I recently got a month’s free trial of Britbox over here, and while the catalogue is lacking the stuff I wanted to watch (that’s on US Britbox), I got it regardless to watch some stuff on it and it recommended me ITV’s 2012 miniseries of Titanic, which I haven’t watched since it originally aired back in 2012.
Now all I ever really remembered from the series apart from the Titanic sinking becuase its the Titanic, was that the miniseries had a high budget, high production, Julian Fellowes of Downton Abbey fame and high expectations which it didn’t live up to ratings and critically wise. But also all I ever remembered all these years was Jenna and Glen’s storyline as Annie and Paolo.
Like this was back when Jenna was Jenna-Louise Coleman and the only thing I had seen her in was her short stint as a student in Waterloo Road, I think that was in 2009? 2010?
So anyway, for the nostalgia for Annie and Paolo and how much I loved them in a short time, and also cause I watched a Laurence Fishburne documentary about the behind the scenes of the Titanic (which made me mad at people).
And I decided that when I was gonna watch this I wasn’t gonna get attached because I know what happens to Annie and Paolo (especially Paolo) and I’m like, I’m older now. I’m not gonna cry.
Wrong!
So 14 year old me only cried once, and that was when Spoiler! A lifeboat picks up Paolo and by the time it goes back to the other lifeboats where Annie is, she realises he’s dead and is like “We we’re gonna get married. I hope he knew that. I hope he knew I loved him”.
2021 me was getting chills in episodes 1 and 2, emotional in episode 3, which had most of the Annie/Paolo scenes so it was just the knowledge. And episode 4, I was a wreck. And this time I was crying over different storylines.
So three times I broke down in the episode.
1) When The Irish dad from Steerage manages to find his little girl (she jumped off a lifeboat onto the ship and left her mother and siblings because she’s afraid of the water and the lifeboat splitting) and he tries to open the gate to go up the stairs because he found her by a stairwell, but he can’t. So he’s like here’s what we are going to do. We are gonna sit here and hug and she’s like what about the water, and he’s like don’t worry about the water.
It was just that moment he realised that he can’t get his daughter out. Cause with him being a man, he probably thought there was a good chance he wouldn’t make it but wanted to make sure his fam did. But the realisation his daughter can’t be saved...I mean I don’t know why he couldn’t get out the way he came from but it was still sad.
2) Barnes/Watson. So they are the servants of a first class family. And Barnes has this affection for Watson, it’s like a playground pull her pigtails kind of affection. And it’s how made sure to find her and save her then gave her and letter of his appreciation. And we don’t see his body, the last we see of him is when the Titanic starts sinking and a lot we’re trying to hold on the collapsible that they wasn’t about to turn in time. But we never see him again but we get Watson reading his letter on the lifeboat where it’s revealed to contain his Will which had been witnessed by two passengers and he’s pretty much given everything to her (not much) and that there’s a small cottage for her father to live in and all he asks is that she thinks of him sometimes.
3) Then as you can guess, anytime Paolo appears and then when Annie finds Paolo and it’s too late. Also his brother Mario survives and I loved the brief relationship we see of the Sandrini brothers but Mario didn’t have a subplot, not like Paolo.
I would watch a spin-off around Annie and Paolo where a Londoner and Italian immigrate to America in the early 20th century, trying to make it big and start a new life. They were both such innocent characters, Paolo with his big dreams, wanting a better life while Annie doesn’t have dreams and is content with what she has and makes the best of a situation.
The miniseries as a whole, isn’t the best telling of the Titanic. There are too many characters and subplots going on and it’s all brief. Plus because it’s a Fellowes piece you have Class issue. Like the problem was the First Class stuff was the weakest stuff and that opened the series. The lowest class stuff (The workers, officers, the Irish family and servants of first class) was more interesting.
Also it was how Fellowes decided to tell the story. So the first three episodes tell the same days (From boarding the ship to hitting the iceberg) but from different perspectives, so the first episode focuses on the First class, the second episode is more Second Class (and a bit of steerage) then the third episode is more Steerage.
So because of this method of storytelling to try and be fresh, it kind of doesn’t work because everything is rushed. Because everyone only gets one episode with significant develop and it takes across 4-5 days and it just feels rushed whereas it could have been paced more across the 4 episodes. Like I would have liked more Annie/Paolo. And they don’t feel rushed even though they meet and Paolo proposes cause you feel like he’s an innocent, naive character, like he feels like he knows she is right for him and doesn’t want to waste time. Then Barnes/Watson they have that backstory and is more what’s between the lines with them. But then you have this romance storyline between the fictional Georgiana and the real life Harry Widener and it falls flat and feels rushed as they are sharing love declarations so quickly. While the subplot with the Steerage Irish wife being so cold to this man in Steerage then later on it’s revealed that it’s because she and him have an attraction and feelings and kiss, it feels very left field and I felt zero chemistry. Plus he turns out to be a cop killer on Wanted posters.
Like for that kind of storytelling with only 4 episodes, there are too many characters to follow. Like it would have probably been better to tell the story with every episode covering a day on the Titanic.
I will say this it did feel a bit more real rewatching that I do watching the James Cameron film in recent times. Cause the 1997 film is kinda lost in the epic romance of Jack and Kate and a lot of fictional characters. But the miniseries, I think the romance and drama is more subdued, the only one that felt a bit off for me was the serial killer and wife of an Irish fam falling in love/being attracted to each other. Like the scenes were they try to get passengers off the titanic and the political power plays, the mistakes made by the Titanic crew in dealing with the disaster as well as preparing for its maiden voyage, and the moment the ship starts to go down the water starts hitting the deck, it felt a bit more realistic and less spectacle than the Cameron film.
And I haven’t rewatched Titanic the film recently but I liked how they addressed the actions of some of the real life people like Ismay jumping on a lifeboat last minute to save himself. Molly Brown and the women taking charge of a lifeboat and turning back for more survivors, Lightoller getting passengers on the boat and trying to get women and children first, and also the mistakes made with the first boat not being full. Him being afraid boats might split. Then when the ship sank the men holding on and climbing on top the overturned collapsible. Jack Thayer and this other guy agreeing to jump and swim to a boat as soon as it starts to sink. And then the Duff-Gordon’s (I believe that’s there name) deciding not to go back to look for more survivors and bribing the sailor and all the people on their half-empty lifeboat with £5 each if they don’t go back. The only one I wasn’t big on was Harry Widener’s rushed romance with a fictional character.
Anyway I’ve gone off. I mentioned to Autymn that I started rewatching it and I think she’s never seen it or heard of it despite claiming to be a period hoe and a Jenna stan. I think after episode 2 I was telling her a bit more about my nostalgia for Annie and Paolo or Desdrini as I’m coining it now (It’s either that or Pannie or Sandmond), and how I know it’s not gonna end well. Then by episode 3 I was recapping why was going on cause she lost it at the serial killer cop killer reveal with one of the characters, and then I was wondering if their was gifs, clips or pics on Tumblr because I wanted to explain how cute they were and how pure Paolo was and how he was too innocent to die. And off I went into the rabbit hole sending them to her and also reblogging it.
Now I’ve gone down that rabbit hole, while it’s great to see Jenna thriving in British TV dramas in more leading roles now and not supporting. I can’t watch anything of Glen’s cause most of his stuff is Italian and not on Netflix etc and a lot of his TV roles are more recurring or guest roles. Not much leading etc. Who knows, maybe if the show was a bigger success, more opportunities might have come out of it.

Fic Writer Interview
Tagged by @potatowitch (kind of, I just felt like doing this).
Name:
See above, and "Space_Interrobang" on AO3.
Fandoms:
Whatever takes my fancy, but the most consistent is Dragon Age.
Where you post:
Here and AO3, or just AO3 if I think I'm being too niche.
Most popular one shot:
Not any of the ones I'm most proud of, I assure you. Looking it up, not even the one I thought. I refuse to put the actual by numbers popular, since the 1st one I thought about I still get notes/compliments on. It's called "Wants" and it's old smut I want to edit so bad, but people like it idk.
Most popular multichap:
"Spontaneous Attraction", though I cringe at my grammer in it now.
Favourite story you’ve written so far:
Either "Eros" or "Alight & Alone". Don't let the fandom tag fool you, they're original works. I just needed a fandom to consume them...though hardly anyone did anyway. "Eros" is Jane Austen inspired, so I'm proud of how romantic it is, and "Alight & Alone" I accidentally began creating a fantasy world for, so it's inspired me to keep brainstorming more of this original world. Ooh, or my Dragon Age series of course, but those aren't fully posted. I re-read them a lot though cause I just like them. I also really like my fic for "The Last Kingdom" called "Rud éigin" cause I loved creating my oc for that, and how romantic it feels with no more than a kiss (I've steered away from writing smut in the past year or so but anyway I'm rambling now sorry.)
Fic you were nervous to post:
My Dragon Age series, the 1st part of which is in my masterlist here as "Guided and Beguiled". I've re-written it so many times over the past 6-ish years, and it's just deeply personal, so yeah. Also another one that I have yet to post, though it's one of those super niche ones that'll only go on my AO3. I'm nervous because it's so niche and personal...
How do you choose your titles:
I just kinda think of the over-all themes I guess? And then I pick something that repesents those themes, sometimes it's alliterate, sometimes one word, sometimes it just is. Depends on what sounds good in my head, like what number of syllables sound good when I hum it in my head? And I choose words based on that, if that makes sense.
Do you outline:
Ha! No. I have a starting point, one or two plot things I want to happen in the middle, and then maybe sometimes an ending, but how I get there is determined by the characters. They'll do what they want usually. I have no control.
Complete:
AO3 says 19.
In progress:
2 that are in the process of getting posted on AO3/here, and 4 on my phone that I'm still writing and intend to post (I will not count the ones I don't intend to post cause I'll get upset at how many stories I've abandoned.)
Prompts?:
Yeah, of course. Love them. Just don't often reblog/advertise about them cause I take a pathetically depressingly long time to write even 1k words, so I only reblog prompts/requests when I know I'll have the time and energy to fulfill them.
Upcoming work you’re most excited about:
That's not already in the process of being posted? The WIP title is "Glove" (that'll definitely change) and it's about Thomas from "Downton Abbey" cause I recently watched it for the 1st time and just want him happy. This is the same one I'm very nervous about because of it being so niche and personal. Its themes are around class and gender, so I'm mostly scared of hate comments.
Worlds I would love to write for in the future:
Whatever my brain fixates on next I suppose. And Dragon Age. Always Dragon Age. Also that original world I mentioned. I'd like to be published some day, if I can get off my ass and actually write for it.
I actually don't know who to tag, so do what you want dudes♡.

Same anon who asked about american tv shows, thanks for your detailed answer. I'm not american but i grew up with american tv shows from the 80's/90's because as a kid i had a lot of time for tv (for the best and the worst). I'm not judging what classics should be or not:i just picked the shows that got a consensus on their quality and equal praise from the critics and the public. I rarely watch tv shows these days, so i was only curious about your taste (as a way to understand you better).
Ah, thank you for explaining! (& for your interest in my taste!)
The American shows thing makes a lot of sense the way you describe it. Judging from what I’ve seen glimpses of & what was advertised in TV programme magazines, I there were a lot of US shows on German TV (and I believe there still are), and I definitely am aware of a lot of names of shows, only I never watched any of them coherently as a kid or teen. We didn’t have cable until I was about 13, and even then I only watched TV selectively. The list of comedy shows in my last reply is mostly stuff I’ve seen bits and pieces of at my neighbours’ between the ages of 7 and about 14. (My memory might be coloured - not sure I fully understood those comedy shows then - but I distinctly remember not finding them funny.)
I’ve tried working on some of those gaps in my series knowledge, but more often than not the result wasn’t very convincing and I’ve now given up trying to catch up with some imaginary canon of ‘good TV’. I did watch some popular series that held up to their reputation (or were at least entertaining; this category includes Star Trek and The X-Files), and others where I still don’t know what all the fuss was about (Buffy, Gilmore Girls, Gossip Girl, Dr Quinn).
That said, I barely know anything about TV criticism/show reviews; the reviews that I end up coming across are few and far between and usually about series I have no interest in (*cough* Game of Thrones *cough*). I’ve never consciously read any series critiques (I sometimes do for movies, but rarely), and I tend to pick what I watch based on what’s available (streaming more than TV because no cable license and, like I said, everything is dubbed), what my friends recommend (if they have similar tastes, that is), and what I see people reblog on tumblr that looks appealing. (Tbh, this one is heavily skewed towards period drama.)
As for my taste... I think the main thing (problem?) is that I’m maybe a bit picky? And not always in the mood for the same thing, though I sometimes have trouble figuring out what exactly it is that I am in the mood for.
I like a good costume drama - I don’t even need it to be quality costume drama, tbh, as long as it’s entertaining. Absolutely ridiculous will definitely also do, at least once in a while (I mean, I have watched the entirety of Merlin, Robin Hood, and The Musketeers, and also Downton Abbey, even though I have Opinions about some of the later plot points). Unless it has pirates or highlanders/Jacobites, in which case I just can’t turn off my academic brain long enough to actually enjoy myself.
(Also book adaptations, preferably the 19th century kind. I’m not sure those count, but hey. I haven’t actually seen all Dickens adaptations there are, but I have a good list going.)
I will also usually try crime series, provided they’re more murder mysteries rather than serial killers and downright thrillers. I definitely enjoy those but I will rarely get very excited about them, and when I do it tends to be the British kind. (I really like Endeavour because it’s very cleverly written, and I also enjoyed Broadchurch, Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, The Bletchley Circle, the odd Poirot, and Grantchester, even though the latter often verges on the cheesy. Marcella season 1 was ok, season 2 was completely bonkers.)
I’m a bit undecided on scifi and mystery series - like I said, I have watched Star Trek, X-Files, SPN and several seasons of Dr Who, but at least with the latter two there was always a point where the writing (or the fact that it went on forever....) interfered with my enjoyment of a series I definitely liked as a concept/in theory. (I have a couple of series in this category that I might want to try eventually, including The Expanse, but that doesn’t strike me as something you can easily watch on the side, and - as with everything - I need to be in the right mood.)
Things I’m not really drawn to: comedy, political drama (Idk why, I think maybe because it’s too exhausting and the quota of despiseable people tends to be very high), medical procedurals (I... have a GP dad and an anaesthesist sister; I get enough medical drama at home), superheroes (I’ve been over that since approximately Civil War), ‘blood and tits’ (forever cured of that after half a season of Vikings and a handful of episodes of GoT), and anything that is very heavy on romance.
That said, the thing about movies and TV in general is that both rarely - a few examples to the opposite excluded - leave me with very deep, lasting emotions. I can appreciate series for the way they are written, or for their sets and costumes, or for a handful of characters that I like, but on the whole I’m just not that emotionally invested, if that makes sense? Plus, my preferred narrative tone by far for anything that isn’t just ‘mindless entertainment’ is melancholy but hopeful, and that one is just so damn hard to find.
(On the top of my head: The Terror, Master & Commander, Lord of the Rings, Les Miserables, Astrid Lindgren’s The Brothers Lionheart & Mio, My Son, and the novels of Rosemary Sutcliff.)
I have a slightly different, but related reaction to books, btw: While I like the occasional plot-heavy and/or character-driven book, I’m much more drawn to books about ideas, and to clever writing, especially language-conscious and cross-referential/intertextual writing.
Both of those can be done much better in text than on TV, and unless a series is extremely well-written and well-acted, it tends to lack this extra level of mental immersiveness that makes me come back to it over and over again.
(Plus, there’s always the extra challenge of actually finding the things I might want to watch, and more often than not I just can’t be bothered.)

What Are You Reading This Week - 4/23/18
Some of my favorites updated this week, and I thought I’d mention as well as  posting new fics. I’m behind on so many, but I’ll get there! Add yours if you reblog and let me know what YOU are reading!
Tumblr media
So without delay...
Your Mood: You just watched Emma Watson twirl across the dance floor on Netflix with the guy that played Matthew on Downton Abbey (still not over season 3, but bygones) and you want a little of that kind of romance:
Pandora’s Picks has you covered with:
Across the Stars by @nite0wl29 updated. with Ch 12. - A Star Wars Universe, Angst with a Happy Ending with a sort of “Beauty and the Beast” theme woven in.
Your Mood: You’re high maintenance, dammit, and by God you want a good Reylo story AND a strong Luke Skywalker who didn’t hold a saber near his adolescent nephew in a “lapse of  judgment” (WTF, Rian, really).
Well...not many fics are gonna cater to you, but since I happen to feel this pissy at times MYSELF...Pandora has you covered. You are in search of:
Strategic Alliances by Wissixwe and Skywalkers (sequel that can be read as a standalone with a little catch-up via the author, @thereisnocureforthis. This deals with concepts that might blow your mind a bit or make you geek out if are a former Trekkie and love stuff like “folding space” and world building. Irno the Kourin was my favorite OC in Skywalkers and Dar Noah got Leia’s groove back in Strategic Alliance AND Skywalkers (more power to him - although he is a Sith, but a nice one). AND Luke FINALLY has a love interest in Skywalkers AND he’s playing his part as a hero, not as a grump old man. This was the Luke I wanted to see. Author is a ....physicist? Nasa engineer? Something like that, because she takes her plot and details seriously, and I’ve had to ask questions at times as she writes at a level far above my head sometimes. Intellectuals, this one is for you!
I also started A Certain Point of View by Wissixwe @thereisnocureforthis recently which is her first post The Last Jedi fic. It’s still early to know where this is headed, but I love the Leia/Ben/Rey interaction! Definitely worth bookmarking. The author has a beautiful and lyrical writing style and I’ve been following her since early 2016 when I joined!
Your mood: Possible tipsy, because you’re seeing DOUBLE! PP knows why: you are probably reading:
Across Alternate Universes updated by @intp-slytherin97 which is the one with two different Ben Solos/Kylo Rens in alternative universes that switch places. Damn do I wish I was on a desert island right now and could binge this. SOON.
Alone in Space by @mrsvioletwrites is a new one I just started. It’s five chapters completed, obviously a WIP, but it’s set in the Prohibition era and I just LOVE it so far! Snoke is a female character! Fiona O’Snoke was the leader of the bootleggers but got herself killed. Kylo the Killer is the bootlegger who now runs things with Hux and Phaedra (Phasma) as his helpers. Rey and Poe are the two detectives trying to solve the case of why young women are dying from methanol poisoning, and Kylo is investigating why his product is doing that as well. Meanwhile, Rey dresses in a slinky flapper outfit trying to draw out Kylo the Killer. And it’s working...
Your mood: You are pressed for time and can’t take on even a 10 page fic, but you need a good post TLJ one-shot. Pandora’s Picks recommends:
Connected in the Deep by @juuls
A moody, sensual one-shot exploring the Force Bond! One of my favorite writers due to her writing style. This little gem hasn’t had many readers finding for some reason. I loved it!
You’re in the mood for a bit of romance, a bit of soul, maybe a touch of poetry. Pandora’s Picks definitely recommends:
Songs of Innocence, Songs of Wisdom by @cosmo-gonika.
I’ve got to beta a few chapters, so I’m really steeped in this story which has a great plot, great descriptions, and some steamy sex scenes! There’s also a female rival for Ren’s affections, or it would APPEAR to be going that way - meet Vrieska, Knight of Ren and original character by the author. Watch that little minx!
Your Mood: PISSED because there’s nothing M/M on here!
Relax, boys. I’m a gay ally and Pandora has you covered! Check out:
Poe/Hux Afterstory Tales by  @gamebird
BONUS - it’s COMPLETE! You have 22 chapters to binge!
This picks up after Pacification, where Hux and Poe sparked an unlikely relationship, earned one another's trust, and became engaged. In this, they get to know one another better as Hux continues to soften and learn how to be more of a human being. This is not a stand-alone and I would suggest reading Grey and Complicated, Orderly Lives, and Pacification first.
Your Mood: Fuck. This. Day!  I need to punch something or...
Hey. Slow down, buddy. Pandora’s Picks suggests you quit punching your pillow and let’s get some of that passion redirected to...well, PASSION! I have the erotic interrogation story to end your night ona “happy” note!
“He’d Let Her” by @lucidlucy (I’m like the LAST person to discover this author, but what a treat to finally read these works!) Where’s Rey? She’s his guest! But then of course she escapes and Snoke wants him to find her yada yada and they explore the Force Bond and then Kylo is with her and...well, just read it! It’s the first part of a series, though. Not a one-shot, but I’m enjoying the ride!
That’s all for now. If you’re reading more than hat, you’re not sleeping enough, studying enough, or working enough! Anyway, it’s Monday and way past my bedtime. Hope that gives you enough new/old stuff to chew on until I get caught up and can add some more! Please reblog and give these authors some kudos and comments....or reblog so others can do so! Some of these stories have a following, but a lot do not, which is a pity as they are SO good! *If you feel I left off a good story or you know of some yourself, feel free to make your own list and use this format if it helps! My blog is for talking about and discovering new stories, in addition to things that make me laugh or are Star Wars related. I’m using the hashtag “pandora’s picks” or “Pandora Pick” so I can find these posts now....so many I’ve blogged are buried now!
Happy reading!

Hi! I've been reblogging some of your amazing Downton gifs and was wondering who your OTPs and NoTPs are?!
Oh wow, hope you it hasn’t been too long since you dropped this into my inbox, I’m terrible with checking my Tumblr these days. Really glad you like my gifs, though it’s been forever since I posted anything :|
I started writing a response to this and it became longer than a midterm paper, if your interested in my reasoning and stuff like that I will leave it here below.  The short answer is that my OTP is Cora x Robert (Cobert) and no one really comes close in terms of romantic relationships despite me liking other couples. My BroTP is Violet and Isobel.
As for NoTPs, I have a couple of relationships I’m not that into (see below if interested), but my only true NoTP is Jane x Robert (or really anyone that gets in the way of my OTP, but especially this one).
As I said above I really only have one OTP for Downton and that is Cora x Robert  (which probably surprises no one since most of gifs are of them). They just check soooo many boxes for me, and their interactions in the first episode are the reason I kept watching. I’m a HUGE sucker for middle aged married people, especially when they have a complicated past.
The thing with Downton for me is that they have a lot of characters and so I only get attached to a couple of them and the rest are just fillers. I have watched some scenes a hundred times and others I’ve only seen once or twice because I don’t care about the characters that are in it. I would for example much rather see a new series about Cora and Robert’s beginnings (heck even their childhoods) than I would would want a continuation of the story without them, since they are my favourites and I only moderately care about the others (I would probably check it out, but I’m not sure I’d become such a huge fan).
That being said I do like some couples more than others.  On the BroTP front, the friendship and rivalry between Violet and Isobel is one of my favourite relationships on the show. I really liked the scenes between those two and would rarely skip them when rewatching episodes. Also, Maggie Smith and Penelope Wilton are both amazing actors and I enjoy most scenes they are in.
On the romantic fronts I liked Ediths’ relationship with Bertie the best, and I enjoyed the SybilxTom forbidden romance. I also liked Rose’s romance with Atticus, but I wasn’t terribly disappointed when they left the show. From downstairs I really liked the relationship between Carson and Mrs. Hughes, both before and after the romance angle and the blooming relationship between Baxter and Molesley was nice, but neither became OTPs for me, because frankly I just wasn’t as interested in the stories downstairs as I was upstairs.
The NoTPs are a lot harder since I don’t really have that strong feelings towards most relationships on the show. This may be a hugely unpopular opinion, but the relationships I liked the least were The Bates (Anna x Bates), Edith and Strallan, and, Mary and Talbot. All for completely different reasons.
I never really liked the Anna x Bates thing, it just doesn’t float my boat and I felt they had too much drama and yet were quite boring, but I do like them as separate characters, just not as a couple.
I always felt Strallan was too old for Edith and I felt the whole marriage thing was very badly handled in the show. I didn’t mind the relationship at first, but was glad when it ended in the last episode of season 1, and I felt there was no reason to bring it back in the first CS or the third season.
Now Mary is an interesting character for me because we are so alike yet I don’t really like her that much. Matthew and Mary were a given during the first season, so I never really rooted for them because I’m not really into the whole will they won’t they when it is already clear they would get together. It was just a matter of when not if. Despite it being sad when Matthew left, I wasn’t unhappy with it since then Mary could move on to other things (which turned out to be more men which was disappointing). The whole Talbot thing just didn’t excite me and I really wish the series would have ended with Mary remaining unmarried, I felt it was super rushed and their relationship just felt boring and forced (yet Henry and Bertie had the same number of appearances and I didn’t feel it as much with Edith and Bertie). I’m just not invested in this relationship and felt it was taking up screen time that could have been used to make a more interesting storyline for Mary.
Now despite all this babble I do have an ultimate NoTP, as stated above, and it is directly related to my OTP and I was wondering if I should even put this in here since in my mind it was all just a nightmare that Robert had and it never really happened. But his affair with Jane was by far my least favourite part of all 6 seasons. I still do not enjoy a good portion of season 2 because of this interaction. I’ve never even watched the scenes between them. To be honest I had even forgotten it was a thing when I was trying to remember all the different relationships on the show. What I felt was the worst about it was that we never had any sort of ending to it really and no resolution for Cora and Robert about this fling with the maid, unlike the incident with Bricker which had more consequences and a longer aftermath despite being far more innocent.
Hope this wasn’t tooooo long (it was), sorry about that I can just never answer stuff with short sentences :)

Top 5/Bottom 5 Fics
I was tagged by @brightbluedot. Thank you!!
Top Five (from most to least kudos):
This I Swear By The Stars, Les Mis, Valvert, 88 kudos
Enough, Downton Abbey, Mary Crawley & Tom Branson, 76 kudos
Silly Wrong But Vivid Right, Black Sails, James/Thomas, 70 kudos
last minutes and lost evenings, Black Sails, James/Thomas, 57 kudos
The Softness You’re Blessed With, Black Sails, James/Thomas, 54 kudos
Bottom Five (from least to most kudos):
Locked Up, Black Sails, James/Thomas, 2 kudos
Away, The Hour, Bel/Freddie, 3 kudos
Like Leaves On The Wind, Black Sails, Abigail/Eleanor, 4 kudos
Dance The Night Away, The Hour, Bel/Lix, 4 kudos
Adoring Him Is Like Breathing, The Hour, Bel/Freddie, 4 kudos
Are you surprised by anything?
Well, I still don’t think my Valvert fic is very good (although it’s probably one of the best of my Valvert fics), but I posted it at like, the height of Les Mis/Valvert fandom, so I’m not too surprised by that. I’m sort of surprised that Enough got quite so many, it’s a pretty obscure pairing (although it was quite popular at the time, and toed the line between Gen and romo enough (heh) that it appealed to a lot of people, I guess? And it’s a big fandom sooo.
Not surprised by the Black Sails ones, although very pleased! Silly Wrong But Vivid Right is my only proper multichapter fic, as well as being fluffy as hell. The other two are both really fluffy flinthamilton fics, which seem to be the most popular with the fandom (unsurprisingly!)
As for the bottom fics - Locked Up, I’ve literally just posted, so I expect it’ll get more lol. The Hour ones I’m not surprised by (although Adoring Him is Like Breathing and Away are some of my favourites I’ve written for that fandom, although the first is a poem, which gained way more traction here than on ao3).With Like Leaves On The Wind, it’s a very rare pair (and again, gained a bit more traction on tumblr than on ao3 (things like that just do, i tend to find, especially if people reblog them). Wouldn’t say no to more kudos/comments though!
Tagging @bisexualpirateheart and anyone else who wants to do it! (sorry, i’m bad at thinking of people.)

story and other LoSSS replies
really long, loads of them, thank you so much for the comments!
danjaley replied to your post “story replies”
Oh, I can definitely recommend the Lord Peter series! If you like Agatha Christie, I'm sure you'll like D.L. Sayers as well - after all they were friends in real life. I read the Lord Peter novels over the past two years, reading extra slowly to make them last longer - I loved them so much!
When I was a teenager, I read all of Agatha Christie’s books -- the complete collection! So I have already downloaded one of the books from the series you recommend, Whose body?, and shall read it during the vacations I’m taking next month... I’m doing the same with your Knight’s story -- reading it extra slow, one chapter at a time, to make it last longer, especially now that I’ve seen The End already exists...
declarations-of-drama replied to your photo “Tobio had been chatting to Alvar for months, since The Little Lord –...”
Cor Blimey! :D
Haha, I had to look it up to see what that expression in English meant! But no, let’s instead pray that our eyes are kept healthy and safe and made increasingly HD to appreacite the beauties of life, including the bubble butts :)
declarations-of-drama replied to your photo “ Like in a dream – whether good or bad Alvar couldn’t decide so fast –...”
The description of hot rods cutting through the night was great wording! It had me right there watching and listening to them running :D
Thank you for the feedback! Especially being the initial sentences of the story, I wrote and rewrote them so many times. I often go by the sound of the words, in English, and constantly think of synonyms that would fit better.
ninthcirclets3cc reblogged your photo and added:
Sounds like an Edgar Allan Poe murder just waiting...
Depending on his acts, Tobio can really become a murder -- if he lets Apollo Jim die in Alvar’s arms. For now, he considers he is helping his friend in giving him an objective, in carrying the moribund boy. And I am not saying Tobio is not a suspect in the murders that will later happen in the story...
simblu replied to your photo “Alvar turned out a lot less haughty than Tobio had expected – if...”
I love that description " outdated in his own youth ". The kind of young man from a good family, who might be wearing his own father's excellent custom clothing, perhaps adjusted slightly by a tailor for more precise fit. Not the sort to care about the fleeting trends of the lower classes..
As you have already realized yourself, “outdated in his own youth” refers more to his manners than to his dressing... In a way you are right, that Alvar doesn’t care about the fleeting trends of the lower classes -- he probably doesn’t even know about them. But I don’t see him using his father’s clothes, for no matter how traditional Alvar is, he is still a young man, and has his own subtle, rather subdued ways of rebelling against the older generations... I see him as a dandy in training, using the privilege of his position to actually wear whatever he likes, creating his own style.
simblu replied to your photo “Alvar turned out a lot less haughty than Tobio had expected – if...”
And yes, the manners and dignity of someone from this background would appear archaic to someone not of that class.
You read it so well. I considered mentioning that contrast and differences between Tobio and Alvar in rather explicit words, but instead did it showing their relationship gradually grows, and the adjustments they have to make to find common grounds... These are the first scenes from the beginning of their friendship, so we’ll see a bit more of it, from the perspectives of both.
simblu replied to your photo “Alvar turned out a lot less haughty than Tobio had expected – if...”
This kind of thing is part of the charm of someone I know very well...
Yes, I found inspiration in real life, too. The person I’m thinking of died recently, but they were brought up to an impeccable set of manners and great composure that we rarely find nowadays... I keep listening to the song “I’m old fashioned” in my mind as I write this...
simblu replied to your photo “Alvar turned out a lot less haughty than Tobio had expected – if...”
I love how your choice of phrase so precisely conveys telling details of character
Thank you dear. Details of character are in every aspect -- how a person stands, walks, dresses, thinks... And not just actions and words. It’s often a hard choice on what to bring into the text, isn’t it? I write and rewrite the sentences so many times -- and sometimes, even after I have already posted them :)
tyrellsimsoficeandfire replied to your photo “Alvar turned out a lot less haughty than Tobio had expected – if...”
Wonderful, again. Looks so much like a movie!!!!
Thank you! And you get where my inspiration for the scenes comes from! Though there are series from this same period that I could refer to, like Downton Abbey, that I really enjoyed, I still prefer the cinematography of movies. I’ve been watching quite a few lately, based on the 1910s and 1920s and WWI, to set my mind to the period!
willky12 replied to your photo “Alvar turned out a lot less haughty than Tobio had expected – if...”
Oh I missed these before, I left them to read later and forgot!! I will catch up today ;)
I often do the same :) Thank you for coming back and always checking my updates! I hope you’ll enjoy it!
danjaley replied to your photo “I am not sure, but I believe it must be Zeus nevertheless.” Alvar had...”
Yeah, this question has been bothering me for the past week or so. With everything being dependent on agriculture, why didn't Greek mythology emphasize rain more?
Like I said in another comment, I used this question as a resource to include a flashback of how Tobio and Alvar met... But I had to actually research to give and appropriate answer to it... I think it rains so scarcely in Greece that they don’t rely on it (or used to) for agriculture.
nornities replied to your photo “Distant. <   previous       next  >”
This is a wonderful "view" (not sure how to put this), having the real situation and the imagined one. Or maybe this is the real one?
Thank you, I’m glad you like it! It was in the last minute, when the update was ready to be posted, that I decided to make these images and split the text... I might do this more often, shoot scenes from the character’s imagination, fitting their inner voices more than the outer world (since I tend to write more of their thoughts and feelings than any actions they might perform).
The thought that this could actually be the real one is fascinating!
tyrellsimsoficeandfire replied to your photo “That was the proper word to describe Alvar, Tobio pondered. For in...”
When it comes to photography, you're an artist! All your shots are fabulous. And I always admire you using greek or roman stuff.
Thank you, dear! It’s a great compliment coming from you, the recreator of so many grand scenes! Still, the images are not it -- the words are! The images are the hooks to the story, I hope!
And yes, I find great pleasure in using Greek and Roman stuff in my scenes, and am always trying to fit them into my stories, am I not?
omgdoubleume replied to your photo “That was the proper word to describe Alvar, Tobio pondered. For in...”
Aww sweet Tobio >.<! TOTALLY Agreed with @tyrellsimsoficeandfire Yr da Best!
I’m glad you like Tobio. I have taken great care in creating his character, his home, and now his story... His looks after the war, with the scars and eye patch, might be a put off, I guess, but not enough to make him repulsive, right?
Thank you for the compliment, when you do quite wonderful scenes yourself, with so many details!
my-simension replied to your photo “That was the proper word to describe Alvar, Tobio pondered. For in...”
Fascinating!! :-O
I wish I knew what did exactly fascinate you -- to achieve it more often! Thank you, dear!
simblu replied to your photo “Tobio noticed Alvar sinking further under the granite portal as the...”
Hmm.. and why black and white? This is perhaps significant..
I thought of the expression “written down in black and white” and as a contradiction decide to give Alvar those colors to wear -- he, who of all characters dreams the most... In opposition to Tobio, who is rather practical and down to earth, but wears colorful, patterned clothes.
simblu replied to your photo “Tobio noticed Alvar sinking further under the granite portal as the...”
And I see now he does not wear the clothing of his forebears .. like the young man I refer to in previous comment.. so "outdated in his youth " is about his manners and dignity, not his clothing
Exactly -- as already mentioned in the replies above. Alvar will be a dandy in his looks, sometimes even shockingly so, but than rather traditional in his manners.
It’s interesting that you are referring to a young man in real life, though, when my own inspiration was a lady (an aunt, actually, that I truly loved).
simblu replied to your photo “There stood a ceremonial rule of nobility limiting the extent of...”
Love this.. how well you convey the subtle calculations of advancing intimacy
This is the 1910s, when homosexuality was still a crime. So Tobio has to be very dissimulated, calculating and careful with his advances on Alvar, for they are actually acting like criminals -- or Tobio is, in caressing Alvar. And he still doesn’t know how Alvar will respond to it!
omgdoubleume replied to your photo “And to reinforce his invite, feeling at any moment Alvar could retreat...”
Haiyy Tobio, you touching his hand? is there any hidden meaning from this touchy act of yours? :3
Tobio is carefully probing... He is uncertain of Alvar’s reaction to his touch, how far he can go before an scandal arises -- this is the 1910s, and it’s not long ago that Oscar Wilde was prosecuted and imprisoned for his affair with Lord Alfred Douglas... Tobio has a lot to fear indeed!
willky12 replied to your photo “And to reinforce his invite, feeling at any moment Alvar could retreat...”
so it begins, and beautifully done
Thank you, dear. I thought we could explore a bit their relationship in the past, and how it evolved to the present situation of Alvar knocking on Tobio’s door at 6 AM, bearing a moribund, naked prostitute in his arms...
my-simension replied to your photo “And to reinforce his invite, feeling at any moment Alvar could retreat...”
Great update! Really enjoyed it. <3
Thank you so much for saying that, I’m happy you enjoyed it!!
simblu replied to your post “INDEX”
I think I'm all caught up but good idea to do this
I’m pretty sure you are dear!
I decided to to this because it is so hard to bear your ways in Tumblr... The chronological option remains a mysterious secret, that they should instead think of implementing... And of course, I’ve made this INDEX for myself, too :)
simblu replied to your post “INDEX”
Hmm.. these links go to non working pages
Thank you for letting me know. Often now, we have to right click on Tumblr links to open them, or they go to dead pages... I checked them from my mobile and iPad, where I’m not logged onto Tumblr, and they seem to be working fine.
simblu replied to your post “story replies”
I know I just hit "like" on this but not showing that on my dash.. damn buggy Tumblr
One more Tumblr bug... But as Simmers we are inoculated against bugs aren’t we? :)
simblu replied to your photo “And to reinforce his invite, feeling at any moment Alvar could retreat...”
Just a note.. if I hit "next" it goes back in your story.. maybe only have the "previous" arrow and link
There is no link yet coded into “next”, so maybe it’s another Tumblr glitch? I often wonder about including the “next” when there is none yet, but I do it as a means of indicating the story will continue...
declarations-of-drama replied to your photo “Salve, Lord Phallihurst!” Death greeted courteously, hovering above...”
What an enigmatic looking guy!
Yes, that description would certainly befit Death!
declarations-of-drama replied to your photo “Lord Phallihurst!” The man at the top of the stairs, short and...”
Great angle for this shot. Gives a unique perspective on the story
Thank you!  I’m trying to convey Alvar’s heroic effort here, and also his climbing all the way down from the riverside and up into the city, almost emerging into it and the open sky above :)
declarations-of-drama replied to your photo “At 6:00 sharp, before going for his daily walk, Tobio Löndpeck ...”
Is that a shot of him opening the door pushing it open then? Very imaginative! :D
Haha, it took me so long to make this sequence! I had a Sim go through the door, and then I placed the characters I had previously posed on their positions for this scene... The problem is it is a double door, and the Sim would not always the same part of it, and as the day progressed, the light changed and I had to wait until it was morning/daylight again.... I’m glad you liked it!

Thanks for all the reviews, likes and reblogs guys - they are much appreciated! Once more this chapter focusing on Charles and Elsie, but the CTM characters aren’t far away!!!
Chapter 2
As autumn drew on, so did the plans for the house.
There were arguments and debates and tears upstairs. It was quite clear that Lady Violet was all for soldiering on with the house whether it was economical or not. If her husband was still alive then she might have had a powerful ally against the new generation, her son and his American bride.
But her Lord Grantham was dead and the will of another was the one that now governed life at Downton Abbey.
Lord Robert and Lady Cora had chosen one of the smaller houses on the estate. It was by no means a shoe box and Elsie had no doubt that when the two of them begun a family, their bairns were all going to get their own room.
She could not say she felt sorry for any of them. None of them were going to be homeless or on the streets. They were not going to see the house destroyed or any of their own in poverty.
They were simply going to go to a smaller house and the rather grand old one which they lived in was going to be made accessible to the public. She had to say she saw that as a bit of a win.
Lady Violet did not. Nor did Charles.
“That poor lady has lived here all of her married life. How is she meant to give that up just like that?” He ranted to her one day as they walked down a corridor together.
Normally she would roll her eyes… But there was something which was holding her back from giving the issue her full attention. One, she was just wasn’t sure she cared that much and then there was the fact she had a nagging doubt at the back of her mind. As if she was missing something.
It was odd for her to be distracted of late. They had been having such a wonderful time together…. They had simply just been enjoying each other’s company and hearts and souls and bodies. No interruptions… just the two of them.
The penny dropped like a bolder.
Ten weeks on no interruption.
She had been so happy and excited as they had headed towards the first Christmas as a couple that she had not really given a thought to what that meant… but now that she had, she found it was all she was able to think of.
On the one hand she could not believe they had allowed themselves to be caught in this situation as they had.
In their working lives, they were seen as he more adult and respect of the younger generation. No one – no one – would think they would be here.
But here they were.
The truth of the matter had hit Elsie like a ton of bricks.
She would have to tell Charles, of course, but that was yet before her. And before she turned to him she wanted to know how she felt about the situation… the one thing she did know was this was not part of her plan.
She did want to be a mother but always she had supposed it to be a long way in to the future, a bit like marriage. The one thing which she did know was she wasn’t yet done living for herself and didn’t yet want to be caring for a child all day.
Or a wife yet, for the matter. One day – but not yet. The idea made her feel trapped.
Going back to her parents with a baby and no wedding band was not an option. She knew there were women in the back streets of any large city you could go too. They took away problems such as the one she had. All it took was a few pounds from what she had heard.  Yet the thought horrified her.
She lay her hand on her stomach and breathed.
She lifted her eyes to the alter. She wasn’t overly religious – she went to church and she believed but she was sure this was the first time she had ever one to church when she felt she was in trouble. Even then it was more that she had wanted quiet time than religious direction.
She hadn’t seen it coming.
She would never ever judge a women who panicked when she was in trouble.
God knew she was on the edge of it herself and if a lass decided it would be better all round for her to try and get rid of the problem all together, then more power to her. Especially if she felt she could do so in a manner in which she would be safe.
As for Elsie, she did not. She did not know any women of that character. Even if they looked as if they were respectable on first meeting then she had no idea if they really were and she did not feel as if she could put her life in their hands. That was the thing about her. She liked life. She liked being alive and as she was right then.
So. She was not going to get rid of the baby. She did not feel she could raise it.
So… that left adoption.

Elsie left it a day and she wasn’t sure why. Her secret was eating her alive and letting someone else in on it she was sure was the only way to stop that gnawing feeling that seemed to be threatening to consume her.
And she knew she could tell Charles – should tell Charles.
But only god knew why when she had to go through it but she wanted to give him one more day of peace before it begun for him.
She watched him more than she ever had in that last twenty four hours. She watched the way he moved and the way he talked. He was not a man she decided, who was care free. He never had been and he was never going to be. It seemed to her that he had come out of his mother with the weight of the world of his shoulders.
But the more she watched him, the more she found she was right – she did love him and had done for a long time.
She just prayed to god the two of them – together – were strong enough to get through the coming storm because…
Because he meant the world to her, she thought. She never say it out loud but she would know it in her heart.
Those shoulders of his were broad. She hoped they could carry some more.
“Are you alright, love? You’re very quiet,” he said as he took her hand over breakfast the next day.
It was then she knew his time of peace was over.
“I need to talk to you.”

“I know we cannot keep it. And I don’t want to put my life in danger so I guess that means we are going to have to give it away.”
That was the first two sentences Elsie told a stone faced Charles after she had revealed to him the fact the two of them had created a life together.
She was putting her cards on the table fast – she was not going to be seen by him as some silly girl who had no idea what the two of them were going to do now. Not when she knew. Part of her wondered if she should have consulted him first… but she had made up her mind.
”We do not have to do that.”
“What is our other option?”
“We could marry. I love you and you love me. And we could marry!”
It was a choice which she had ruled out through their age and it was one she did not look favourably on even then. Even though she could see it in his eyes how much he meant it…. and it made her love him more.
And she had no doub  if she took him up on his offer he would do all he could to provide for her and their child… And they could be a family.
But even though she knew all of that she found even then she was shaking her head.
“No, Charles. If the two of us wed now, then I am going to have to give up work. We could take care of this baby but we cannot live on air. How long until we turned on each other with no money and all that stress? I am eighteen years old… you are twenty…” they were mature for their ages but they weren’t that mature she didn’t think.
They should be out having fun together at their age, not worry about nappies.
“But the point is we could make it work.”
She shook her head as she saw hope in his eyes die.
“Are you saying you do not wish to marry me?”
For the first time she felt her lips turn into a smile. The thought of marrying him….
”Well, I am not going to marry any one else, let me put it to you that way,” she said softly. “But no – at least, not yet. I do not want to be a mother; I do not want to be a wife… not for a while yet. I love you… but I can’t give that you.”
For all his traditional way of thinking she wondered if she was going to have to forfeit the two of them.
“I hope to god one day my name will be Elsie Carson… but…”
He nodded as she saw him try to digest everything which she had just said to him. If the truth was known she was still trying to digest it all. It was a lot to take in.
“Am I going to lose you?”
She had had to ask quite plainly for there was no point in beating around the bush. And if she was going to be facing this on her own then she knew she would rather know sooner than later.
A small defiant voice in her said she could. She did not need him to face this. She could do it on her own.
“What kind of a man do you believe me to be?” he asked as he turned to her with greater sadness in his eyes than she had ever seen before.
In fact, there was so much wretchedness in his eyes that it hurt her heart. And there was anger too and disappointment. But there was also love there.
A ghost of a smile appeared on his lips as a tear splashed on to his cheek.
“No, you are not going to lose me.”
She felt a lump in her throat develop.
When she had found out she was pregnant she hadn’t cried.
And when she had been trying to figure out what she wanted to do she had not shed a single tear.
But for some reason now she did.
She wasn’t sure if it was because she knew he was there. Or maybe it was the fact she knew that they had a long road ahead of them. There was going to be so much doubt along the way. She was going to carry this child – god willing – to term.
She was going to bring a life in to the world.
And she was going to let it go to another home. She was going to let her baby grow up calling another women mummy. That was the choice she was making.
Along the way she was going to question herself. And she knew she was going to doubt herself. Enormously so. She was going to wonder why she had not got rid, why she had not sort an easier freedom. She knew she might even look back at the night of the picnic and curse herself.
But maybe it was just the fact she knew she was not going through any of it alone.
Whichever one it was, she knew it was enough to cause anyone to burst into tears.
But there and then as they sat on a bench in the grounds of the abbey, young Elsie went quietly but quite entirely to pieces safely in the knowledge that one way or another Charles Carson was going to do his best to put her back together.
