Four Different Versions of Yami

They are all unique and I love them all.

And here are the different Puzzle dynamics IMO

Their dynamic is platonic (on Yugi's end anyway, you could make the argument that Yami isn't just devoted to Yugi but also simping for Yugi, especially in the final few episodes). Yami is a goddamn gremlin and will kill for his precious Yugi (and love doing it too). Like, seriously, don't mess with Yugi because Yami will FUCK YOU UP.

The dynamic is pretty romantic tbh. (Like, I didn't believe it until I started reading the manga and watching the original Japanese anime. They are little blorbos in love.) Yami is such a sweetheart in this version (and such a Yugi simp like omg if you tried making a drinking game out of everytime he said "aibo" you'd fuckin DIE.) Yami is more chill now and not attack-happy anymore, but make no mistake, he will still kill for his beloved aibo.

Their dynamic is completely platonic (at least from Yami's end anyway). Yami was mentally aged up while Yugi was mentally aged down, putting their relationship in a "big brother and little brother" dynamic. Yami is his most calm and collected in this version, but make no mistake, he would absolutely still kill for Yugi.

Their dynamic is 100% platonic on both ends (though they do enjoy making Puzzleshipping jokes together). This version of Yami is the ONLY version that actually has Prideshipping tendencies. Yami has been upgraded from Yugi's "big brother" to Yugi's "funny/asshole uncle". Yami may claim he doesn't love Yugi, but he absolutely does love Yugi and will kill for Yugi. Also he has returned to a semi gremlin form, but instead of lighting people on fire, he'll insult them into submission.

I... I had a lot of trouble with this one. Originally was going to have Yami!Bakura holding Bakura's chin while Bakura looked a little lost or soulless. Of course, I have no idea if such posing was in character or not... and then! I remembered that these characters have Millennium Puzzles or whatever. And I looked up what Bakura's was, and it was the Ring. So I was like... what if they are both holding it in their mouths, because symbolism, and also because that would be suggestive, and suggestive is totes in the realm of shippy? But then. But then I couldn't figure out the bodies or the faces and so I was like, HOW ABOUT JUST THEIR FACES. But then I was really struggling with the G pen (first time using it was today!) and then... and then... yeah. I was like. Why don't I just. Fix my mistakes digitally. But that didn't turn out well either. So I just redrew it, reiterating on the previous pose idea, but making it smaller so it was easier to ink, and by this point, I was very tired.

And there Marik stood, looking like he had just rolled out of bed not even five minutes ago. Bakura couldn't place if that was because the other male was only illuminated by the soft glow from his kitchen candlelight, or if Marik had genuinely just woken up and half-assed his appearance.

Despite the lack of effort normally put into his attire, Marik was still as gorgeous as always, and Bakura found himself almost excited to see his late-night-visitor. Yet a part of his heart churned upon studying the Egyptian's face. Marik had dark shadows under his eyes, and he looked much too tired for Bakura's theory of him just rolling out of bed to be true. And in those lavender eyes, Bakura could have sworn they reflected pain.

Yet regardless of how worn out the retired Rod bearer looked, a smirk was painted across his face as he let himself in, "I see you're out of power, too."

alright babes, it’s finally happening.

Five years after being here, I’m finally gonna sit down and tell you the tale of Lisa Green

So when I was 13, I made my first OC which is my Sonic OC that I still cherish to this day, and there was a bunch of DBZ OCs that came next and this was all the summer of that year, somewhere in the fall my sister and I came up with Lisa and Ivy, which were literally just us but we smacked them in a All our favorite characters work and go to this magic school we got invited to by a mysterious figure and I STILL have the notebook with the class schedule with all the characters who went to the school and who was a teacher and Slenderman just kinda popped up at random cause we loved the version of Slendy in the YGO Abridged Marik and Yami Marki plays Slender videos and he was just an eternal joke who stuck with us till gosh, I turned 16? he just sorta dropped off the face of our storyline at somepoint but he was a beloved part of it while he was in it. So no matter how much Ivy was meant to be part of everything, my sister is an artists, not a writer, so Ivy ended up tapping out except for a few major stories, but I had Lisa go to the Sonic universe cuz it was my first fandom and she got to hang out with all my favorite hedgehogs and company and then to the DBZ universe which was really her first major growth arc, learning to be more confident in herself and to have a better view of herself which honestly did so much for my own being at the time and even now when I look back at the storyline. It was also her first major loss, having been forcibly torn away from her adoptive family and thrown five years to the future from the Cell Saga to the Majin Saga and then again when it was all over.

She created her base world "The Island" after this to let her loved ones all visit and give her a way to see them at any time without having to be forced to be contained in their worlds by force.

Lisa and Ivy ended up having unexplained adventures we didnt do a lot with, mostly jsut because we didnt think to do more other than "This happened" and it was so many shows we were into for like a month and then forgot about like Fairy Tale, ATLA, and ,I think we did Black Butler if only the goofs of us trying to take Ciel and Elizabeth away cause we favored them and then there were some I had Lisa go to and did some stuff but never did more than the intro event like Warrior Cats and MLP, and it was like that for two years

The two biggest plots I remember doing are the most recent was a Yugioh fic and a FullMetal Alchemist fic, both of which have legit fics albeit unfinished. YGO: The Next Dimension was the YGO universe collided with Lisa and Ivy's home universe and nullified their powers and they ended up doing a Full House situation where they all lived together in a big house and we never really explained how that happened, but Slender man was in this alot too cause we mixed the canon YGO and Abridged YGO characterizations so there was like. All the normal characters. Then there was Abriged Marik and Yami Bakura and. I hadn't watched the Abridged series so Yami Marik AKA Melvin was sometimes a child and sometimes insane and murderous. But I love him a lot cuz him Mokuba and Lisa just sort of attached themselves together and it was the best thing

Uhh it was a lot of goofin, Marik and Yami Bakura set up a Fake version of the Slender man game with everyone lost in the woods to find paper but then Slendy actually showed up but he was mostly just throwing people together and trying to make everyone leave, Marik Yami Bakura and Melvin all hung out in the basement of the giant house everyone stayed in to lay poker but they had no money, just a lifetime supply of goldfish crackers to use as currency and Lisa Yami Yugi and Seto would all go down to play once in awhile. There was a cheesy love triangle with Lisa Seto and Yami Yugi cuz I was a lovesick fool and I made them punch each other cuz drama and there was a lot of stuff in there but eventually twenty-ish years passed and then the worlds were separated and reset to how they had been prior and Lisa had a whole mental break down cuz Yami Yugi had just proposed to her right when it happened

After Ivy literally slapped the sense back into Lisa, she got sucked into the FMA universe and that's an entire 30 chapters of my most proud achievement and it's Lisa trying to just follow the plot of the story, she falls for Ed and Winry cause I discovered I was bi and poly during the writing of, Lisa has a dark copy named Lillian who sort of just vibes for most of the plot but pulls a Chrysalis and replaces herself with Lisa during the wedding in a plot to literally take over the world and then the multiverse and THEN destroy everything and Lisa and her have this big huge epic showdown and Lisa has to face her own demon and Kill her and it takes a huge hit on her emotional state which has gotten so much better in the 5 years she'd been in the world.

But then Lillian is revived by some scientist who mistake her for a Homunculus and she and Lisa do some body swapping back and forth until Ed and the gang figure out where its happening and rescue Lisa-In-Lillian's-resurrected-body and then Lillian ends up slowly becoming a better person by finding reasons to live in the gang she's created of Chimeras as she sort of over takes Greed's old hideout as well as being watched over by Izumi Curtis, then later watching over Lisa, Ed and Winry's descendants after they all pass on and she actually chooses to stay there for a hell of a long time.

Upon returning to the Island, which it had only be minutes since Lisa had returned to the Island post the slap of sense, which time does not operate normally there anyways, Lisa has to deal with the consequences of not talking with her now-ex-fiance Yami Yugi/Atem about how she's now married and he's not doing so well either and it's a whole saga of its own, but it does get settled with the two of them being just friends and having their own relationships

And that's when the New Heroes stuff happens so hooray!!! that's a condensed version of 11 years worth of plot

The extent of my Yugiouh knowledge is watching a couple abridged episodes, watching Little Kuriboh's Lady Gaga song parodies, and making a pair of OCs (it was a chick who finds Yugi absolutely obnoxious plus her millennium item friend who was in love with... uh... Yami? Atem?... With Yugi but tall). So sitting here scrolling through your posts is just like "I am fascinated and I know so little." Is fun

Yugioh is a goddamn train wreck.

The first seven volumes of the manga got censored and rewritten into an anime by Toei, that hasn't been acknowledged in over 20 years outside of copyright takedowns.

By the 8th volume, Kazuki Takahashi had struck gold with a one off game called Duel Monsters that he then pivoted the entire series from a villain of the week formula to one where people fight to the death with pieces of paper in fights that can last for half a volume. This got made into a completely separate anime by Studio Gallop that retconned literally everything that happened in the previous anime/first 7 volumes.

Then came 4kids. Not only did they change so many things from the original studio Gallop version that they've been the butt of internet jokes for years but they actually paid studio Gallop to make more filler of the show. At least 2 seasons of content not seen anywhere else in canon was funded by 4kids into this series, and most of it contradicts things that happen in the same show.

Did you know Alexander the Great was a yugioh character? He wielded ancient egyptian magic, and split into a good side and bad side after he died in an egyptian pyramid that was in the middle of India for no reason? Because thanks to 4kids, thousands of dollars were spent to animate that very thing and even though it's technically a spin off series several streaming services have just stuck it in the middle of the actual show.

The final arc of the manga was tragically rushed because the Takahashi was hospitalized during the previous arc and was terrified with the idea that he could die before finishing the series.

This resulted in many unfortunate decisions like making the plot make no sense, almost completely forgetting to do the one thing that was foreshadowed early in the series to the point it got tacked on after the big bad was killed despite it making no sense, and probably most tragically, giving the main antagonist a massive dragon dick for no fucking reason. Makes it really hard to take him seriously.

Studio Gallop tried to fix this broken mess, and while they improved a couple things they also managed to make it worse. They also kept the dragon dick which makes literally every attempt 4kids made to censor it really fucking funny so maybe it isn't that bad.

Now why did I feel the need to respond to your ask with such a long, detailed explanation of this series, anon? Because unfortunately, even with my knowledge of the series I barely know what's going on either. There are at least 3 different canons going on at once and they don't usually line up with each other.

Yugioh is very much a train wreck. It's both amazing to witness, batshit insane and really fucking bad at points, and once you look at it you can't look away.

With that said I do recommend it if you're willing to go through all that, the characters are great and you don't even need to understand the card game to enjoy it cuz I sure as he'll don't.

Just counting what’s on AO3, so far I’ve written for 17 fandoms. ‘just wanted to write a fic where senku says ‘get excited’ during sex’ (My SenGen oneshot that gets a wave of attention whenever a new chapter or episode of Dr. Stone comes out)

‘laughable’ (An Ares/Hypnos oneshot I wrote purely as a sample for a zine app and underestimated how popular that ship is lol)

Do you respond to comments, why or why not?

I generally respond to comments. Almost always, unless I really can’t think of anything to say in reply, which is pretty rare. Comments make me so happy and I just want to let people who do comment know that I appreciate them.

What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

I think the angstiest fic I wrote was a Free! fic called ‘Moves Across the Land’ - the premise of which is that Makoto died as a young adult of an illness and each chapter is a different person in his life receiving a letter that he wrote for them before he died. But that one had an optimistic ending, with Haru and Kisumi unexpectedly finding a newly strengthened friendship in sharing the grief of Makoto’s death. So I guess technically the angstiest ending I wrote was a short Archie/Maxie oneshot where Maxie gets killed by Kyogre lol

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Yes, but I ended up agreeing with it! Waaay back (probably more that 10 years ago at this point), I wrote a bunch of Layton/Rosetta oneshots that I now don’t stand by. One of them, in my naivety, I went too far with and breached uncomfortable territory. I got a couple of comments about how uncomfortable it was, so I ended up deleting that particular fic and felt better after it was gone.

Do you write smut? If so what kind?

I am a fledgling at writing smut, which is probably obvious to anyone who’s read my smut haha. When I do write it, I prefer to focus on the dialogue between the characters - I like a banterous smut scene. Also, they’re usually pretty tame. I like writing about handjobs, blowjobs and wanking the most when I do write smut.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I know of.

Have you ever had a fic translated?

Again, not that I know of, but that would be awesome! A few years ago, a kind person messaged me about potentially translating my Layton fic ‘Grasping Liquid’ into French, but I don’t think they went through with it in the end. Though honestly, the dialogue and slang in that fic is pretty much illegible in English, so I reckon it’d be a tough fic to translate.

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Yes, the aforementioned ‘Barrel of Monkeys’ that I co-wrote with @amberrgalaxy It was a lot of fun and I love it :D

What’s your all time favorite ship?

Hmm... I don’t think I have a single all time favourite. I jump through a lot of OTPs and they always mean a lot to me, but it wouldn’t seem fair to pick out a single one that’s always shined brighter than the others, because that’s not really how my hyperfixations work. But my current favourite ships are Momus/Heracles (to be narcissistic) and TheseZag from Hades Game. While my oldest ship that I’m still invested in is Yami/Seto from Yu-Gi-Oh DM.

What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

Shockingly, I don’t have any right now. A few years ago (I think 2018?), I made a point of going back and finishing ALL my old WIPs that I’d left hanging but intended to finish, even for fandoms I didn’t plan on going back to. So that freed my conscience of them and felt pretty good. At the moment, my only WIP is ‘if found please return to the underworld’ - an AU where Zagreus does make it to Olympus, so Hades sends Theseus, Asterius and Meg to try to get him back. But I’ve only just started writing that one, so I do hope to stick with it until it’s finished.

What are your writing strengths?

Dialogue. Definitely dialogue. I’m told that I capture the canon voices of characters pretty well and that’s always what I’m trying the hardest to get right, so it means a lot to me. I also feel like I’m good at keeping a fic flowing, without being bogged down by too much detail. But the downside of that is that I often sacrifice description, so I still hope to find the balance. Since Hades Game has more flowery prose than I’m used to, I think getting into that series actually helped me with this.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I do not think I am experienced enough to be able to pull this off well and would worry too much about making mistakes.

What was the first fandom you ever wrote for?

It was Pokemon, but those fics aren’t online anymore. The oldest fics you can still find buried somewhere with my name attached to them are Sonic fics.

What’s your favorite fic you’ve ever written?

‘the prince with specific tastes; the king with specific regrets’ - Sometimes I look back at that fic and wonder if I actually wrote it, since I avoided falling into all of my usual traps: I researched it properly and frequently, I kept the focus on the five main characters instead of getting distracted by introducing a million other character like I usually do, I plotted the fucker out from start to finish instead of winging it, and I worked the flashbacks into it in a way that balanced the present-day out instead of distracting from it. Also, I got the whole thing written in about two months, instead of staling for years. ...Whatever possessed me when I wrote that fic, please come back. (It was the first time I’d had two weeks off together in about three years, so I think that had a lot to do with it) OH YEAH and that same kinda villain OC who I recycle in every fandom I’m in actually landed this time. It brought me so much joy to see how much people loved to hate Momus. Those two months when I was posting that fic are easily a highlight of my life. :D

In honor of my 25th birthday, here are 25 facts about me and our beloved franchise, Yu-Gi-Oh!

I’ve been collecting the cards since I was 6.

I watched the original anime when it was first coming out in America. Back when it was on KidsWB, I believe.

The dubs are the only way I’ve ever experienced the shows. I can’t bring myself to watch the subs because of it. Also it was a wonderful thing to look forward to every Saturday morning, back when they still had cartoons on at the time.

When I was little, I’d pull cards out of my collection and duel one of my sisters. We didn’t know all the rules, so we’d end up with huge hands and a lot of nonsense turns. So it was almost like Season 1 of the original anime, except in real life.

I learned how to duel properly in high school. For some reason, Yu-Gi-Oh! became really popular to play when I was a junior/in the 11th grade, so I got to enjoy it with other people. Ran an Agents deck, wasn’t very good, but I had fun.

I’ve written Yu-Gi-Oh! fanfiction since I was in the 5th grade, which was roughly about 2006 or 2007. I also started writing Naruto fanfiction at about the same time, but I haven’t written that nearly as much as I’ve written Yu-Gi-Oh! stuff.

My first three Yu-Gi-Oh! OCs are characters I still use to this day. They’ve evolved a lot over the years, kind of growing up with me. In case anyone’s curious, their names are Carrie West, Jessica West, and Mirage. Carrie’s the main one, Jessica’s her sister, and Mirage was originally just supposed to be like a “Yami” for Carrie. She’s much more than that now, but I won’t bore you with the details.

The first time I saw anything 5Ds-related, I thought it was stupid and avoided watching it. Thank the Crimson Dragon I gave it another try.

This isn’t news, but my favorite characters in the franchise are Yugi Muto and Yusei Fudo. Still bitter about how much Yugi is ignored in favor of Yami/Atem, even in official merch. And also bitter that a lot of images of Yusei on official stuff erases his criminal mark, even though he’s had it since like Episode 6 and always had it in the manga, from what little I’ve read of it.

I met my best friend through fanfiction for this franchise. I posted my work on good ol’ Fanfiction.net, she reviewed, and the rest is history.

That friend got to go to Japan and see Darkside of Dimensions there. She also sent me some Yu-Gi-Oh!-related stuff that she bought while in Japan, including a DSoD booklet thing.

Said friend also got a recording of LittleKuriboh using his Yugi voice to say that I’m “super-special-awesome” as well as his signature in a 3-in-1 manga for the original series. It was at AnimeNorth, I believe, a few years ago now.

I was introduced to Yu-Gi-Oh! Abridged in high school by one of the boys I played the game with. The first Abridged thing I experienced was Leather Pants.

I thoroughly enjoyed Marik Plays Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, which is why I bought and played the game myself. Wish he’d go back to it, but until then I’ll just rewatch the videos every now and then.

Some kid on my school bus stole my Uria, Lord of Searing Flames card (which came from the tin based around it; I mistook it for Slifer at first) and my Black Luster Soldier card (might have been from one of Yugi’s early Starter decks.) I let him look at my card binders and the little shit took them out. >:/

My older sister wrote fanfiction that included a couple of my characters as a big part of the plot. This was because our characters were cousins. Anyway, I looked through it while chatting with my best friend. It. Was. Fucking. Awful. Carrie was completely out of character. Mirage wasn’t being utilized correctly. I anonymously ripped my sis a new one through a review on FF.net, which caused her to take it down and come to me, saying something about how I had great fans who would defend my OCs and she was sorry. She still doesn’t know it was me.

As a result of the above, I stopped including her OC in my writing, and I actually had the character killed off in a OneShot because I didn’t want her lingering in my plots in any way. Said character was also paired with Kaiba in a very out of character fashion, so I set him free from her shackles. Now he’s in a crack ship in my universe with my bestie’s OC, nicknamed KaKa due to their names.

I have a couple of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds OCs. They’re twin sisters who, because of me deciding how much time passes between the original series and this spin-off, are the great-granddaughters of Yugi Muto and one of my OCs.

I tried to play...Duelist of the Rose?? a game for the PS2 while at a friend’s house. Couldn’t get past the first fight which was with...I want to say Rex or Weevil. But the characters were using names from like King Henry and shit. Yugi/Yami said his name was Henry, but to call him Yugi, like what???

My current card collection count (try saying that five times fast) sits at 2813. I have them split among four binders, three of about the same size and one thin. Two of the four are just Monster cards.

I wish they’d stop making new rarities for cards. Toon Chaos was basically scalped because of that, but also it’s just unnecessary. There are lots of rarities available. They just stopped using some of them for whatever reason. Like, gimme more Ghost Rares and less Collector’s Rares, please!

I have ships I ship, which obviously include some OC x Canon ones, but I won’t name them. Shipping wars are dumb.

My favorite female character in the franchise is...a tie between Mai Valentine and Akiza Izinski. Don’t get me wrong. I like most of the lady cast in general. Also, I prefer Mai before her voice changed and Akiza during the Dark Signers stuff over who she becomes later in the series, which is just Yusei’s love interest.

There’s kind of a running gag in my Yu-Gi-Oh! fanfiction between me and my bestie. For the longest time, even if the story didn’t involve him, Kaiba kept appearing. I made a “meme” image to commemorate the reoccurring event, which is simply a pic of him with the words “Kaiba appears nonetheless” in impact font.

I started this blog on a whim. No idea why I did, but I’m glad that I never deleted it like I did so many other sideblogs. It has been an honor to be a part of this community. You guys have been amazing <33

Google Translate Quotes Yu-Gi-Oh! The Abridged Series

I remember reading somewhere that the Hong Kong English subtitles were translated from Japanese, to Chinese, to English. So, I’m going to put various Yu-Gi-Oh! Abridged quotes through that process! Let’s go!

The iconic exchange:

Yami Yugi: Wait, did you summon a lot of monsters in one round?

Seto Kaiba: Yes is that so?

Pretty much everyone I follow can be counted as a “favourite person” but I’ll tag all the people whose chats I have up on the side of my screen because otherwise this post will end up longer than my combat analysis (I know, I know, I haven’t posted it yet and it’s been months).

I may have wrongly assumed some pronouns here so please let me know and I will fix them asap. 💙

@missionheartcd - Kyrill is absolutely lovely and we’re both always up for whatever the other is thinking. Our first in-character interaction was when chasiingrain’s Jessie gave her Tseng a cat and he was looking for assistance from his Turks so Reno was like “Can I offer you a nice lint roller in these trying times?” and then our next interaction out of character was me launching into her DMs like “LOOK I know we’ve only interacted once but I have this image in my head and I need to tell you about it” and she was completely up for me hopping into her inbox, no questions asked.

@rude-at-your-service - not a day goes by where I don’t think of V and sing his praises (even just to myself). We’ve been mutuals for almost 5 whole years now (he was the 8th blog I followed when I made this account) and he somehow put up with my silly childish knobbyness back then. But we’re big bros now with mutual love for our muses who call each other bro and he gets a free pass on my 1 thread per blog rule (which I need to reword in my rules) - if only because our other thread is almost done and I don’t shut up about soft Reno and Rude content lmao.

@chainedbydarkness - I don’t really know the mun all that well (I think their name is Jay? Because of their Discord name my brain calls them that name automatically but we’ll use Jay for the sake of this). Jay seems like a really nice person and they play Bakura who is, like, my favourite character in Duel Monsters (and the abridged series, even though I do a better Marik impression than (Yami) Bakura) and I really like how they’ve implemented Bakura into the FF7 universe by making him a medic. They’ve been bundled by work lately so I don’t see them as often on my dash but I hope they’re doing well!

@wedgeofavalanche - Jess is awesome. She has some really cool ideas and just a delight to talk to. Her wings AU is awesome and so well thought out. I still need to continue on from that one ask meme I sent ages ago where Wedge was to listen to Reno’s heartbeat (because I’ve had this one funny idea in my head ever since and I know she’ll love it)!

@shutupreno - This mun. This mun is awesome. I think the mun uses he/him pronouns but please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong. He is one cool bean and I always love when he pops up on my dash. I’m really glad that’s he’s around and I’m thankful for the support he offered me when I was trying to power through my uni work.

@reno2ndgun - If you want another Reno with a hysterical sense of humour, please check out this mun. They’re chill to talk to (hell, I was even messaging them last night about what I’m storyboarding) and we occasionally hit other up at random intervals just to chuck random shit at each other. A delight of a mun and I love having a nosy at some of their threads.

@chasiingrain - I. Love. Light. I can’t even remember when or why we started talking, it just sort of happened - probably because of the screen cap posts. She is my main Reno dealer and I can’t wait for part 2 of the remake to come out because I’m certain I’m gonna be sent a random 4K Reno tiddy or two from her and it’s gonna be great. We also recently found out we knew each other from my XV days which is pretty awesome. Her blog always lights up my dash (( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) I’m not sorry) and I love the relationship we’ve built up between Jessie and AVALANCHE Verse Reno.

@dimidiumseras - Rain is a frickin’ delight. Been following them since 2015 and I’ve loved their art ever since. I might have freaked a little when they followed me back because it was like “No! You’re quality! Why are you following me?!” Still not gonna get over the Turks as Minions doodle though. And I’m the reason they’re plagued with Me? Gongaga posts all the more these days. :3c They send funny images and videos to me pretty much every day and I pay it back in kind with more funny images, TikToks and shitposts.

@soraofdestinyislands - We don’t talk as much as we should but it’s always great to see them on my dash! I did accidentally contribute to encouraging Sora to drink that one time a few weeks ago but he had two irresponsible adults watching over him so it was fiiiiiine. Also I don’t know why but I always laugh when I see their Sora swearing on my dash and I’ve a mix of “No sweetie! Don’t swear!” and “YES! YEEEEESSSSS!” when it happens. So yeah lmao.

@renoltage - Faye is awesome. I think about her quite often and hope she’s doing okay. I can feel her love and adoration for Reno through her portrayal and I hope her muse comes back to her soon. I miss seeing her blog on my dash.

@that-turk-laney - And here’s my partner in crime, Mia. I don’t remember who followed who first but we always through ideas and art back and forth and she helps me find words I’m looking for. I love seeing her posts on the dash and she’s one of the many I have notifications on for (so if you see me liking your posts as soon as they go up, I have notifications on for you lmao). Batting general thoughts and ideas back and forth with Mia has really helped me develop Reno over the past few months and– it’s just been awesome.

Favorite character: Seto Kaiba, without a doubt. Even for all the other interests this blog has shifted towards and the volume of VLD content that damn near came close to dethroning it, Seto Kaiba is still my #1 tag.

Like, he's overcome so much and I'm really glad current fandom sees that 1) he's a teenager (the youngest in the group, in fact!) 2) he's a survivor of abandonment even before the adoption and 3) that even though he's not murdering people these days over cards that abuse doesn't just go away and that he's trying.

He's my disaster son, and I live him :)

An unpopular opinion: L!ttleKurib0h's bad charicature of Tea went a long way towards fostering the irrational hatred this fandom has of her. There's a whole lot about the guy in general that doesn't sit right, most of which has been lost time time and aren't mine stories to tell, but nowadays most of the ppl who hate her usually came by the Abridged series before actually watching the show and not because she got in the way of their yaoi ship of choice.

My Canon OTP: we have none

My Non-canon OTP: Nakamashipping, which is the name for Yugi/Honda/Jou/Anzu

Most Badass Character: Jou, by a long shot. Somewhere in the depths of this blog was a post on how much of Jou's fighting ability and strength was downplayed or removed in DM and it's a shame he, like Renji, got put in to solely comic relief category.

Most Epic Villain: honestly, are there really any "badass" epic villains in this series? Like, they're either cartoonishly evil like the way early antagonists pre-Duel Monsters or victims of circumstances beyond their control. Yu-Gi-Oh really doesn't have a Sosuke Aizen or a [insert JJBA villain of choice here]. Even the Kaibas' adopted dad was just more crazy and given a few panels in the manga.

Honestly, I've never given that any thought before now. 🤔

Pairing I am not a fan of: Kaiba/Pegasus. I have a hard time thinking Seto is going to push aside him using Mokuba in his plans to revive his wife anytime soon, but it's not a hill I'd die on tbh. Truthfully, it's hard for me to hate ships these days.

Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): Do I have pick just one?

I could pick the usual ones of Honda, Anzu, Ryou Bakura (and I was tempted for the last one)

But honestly, I think the one who gets shafted most is Yugi himself. You know how in OItNB where Piper stopped being the focus by mid season 3 and thank God cuz really? It's like that for Yugi after Duelist Kingdom where he just takes a backseat as Yami/Atem gets all cool story.

And even Shounen Jump shafts hi, too. I think it was a post by @engelchenyugi who pointed out that the Jump Force game identified Atem as Yugi in game play footage. That's just...really bad coming from the official publishers. Yugi Mutou might be the most misunderstood and underrated protagonist in their entire library, and I'm saying this as a Bleach fan who's had to hear how supposedly "boring" Ichigo is because he doesn't fight for an overarching goal.

Favourite Friendship: All of them...? But mostly Joy and Yugi for being soft bois who openly love one another.

Character I most identify with: for all the love I give Kaiba, I'm gonna have to go with Mokuba. Poor kid gets dragged along into his brother's reckless ideas and has to sit back until he comes back into reality. Sounds like the story of my life *sigh*

There's a reason this icon hasn't changed in all the time I've had this blog beyond just laziness

I promise I'll finish that one fic one day

Character I wish I could be: hmmmmm, maybe Honda, cuz his family is probably the only normal one in all of canon, even if they don't question that he disappears for that whole weekend where Duelist Kingdom took place. Hey, look, it's the same canon where Kaiba got a dog collar slapped on his and Joy's mom left him with an alcoholic, Mr. Honda gets some slack here 🤣

Hi, just wanted to let you know how happy I am to follow someone who loves both Daenerys and Yugioh. The ven diagram of Dany fans and Yugioh fans seems to have a slim overlap.

Haha. Yeah I tend to enjoy a lot of random stuff from different genres that probably leave my followers very confused.

The Yu-Gi-Oh fixation recently is weird even for me. As a kid I was a huge fan of Digimon, Pokemon and Cardcaptor Sakura. When I saw the trailers for Yu-Gi-Oh it almost looked like a mish-mash of those kind of shows. But then I watched it and I was suddenly struck by how bored I was with all the monster and magic stuff - which I had loved in previous shows - and was instead pulled into the drama of these characters, which even in the 4kids dub was pretty high stakes for a children’s show. Like Joey’s motivation for winning the tournament, not to ‘be the best that ever was’, but to save his fucking baby sister’s eyesight! Or Yugi getting his grandpa’s soul back and then dealing with the existential crisis of sharing his body with an ancient spirit. Or Kaiba being…just Kaiba. I could go on but it all kept me hooked for a while until the end of season 2 if I remember right before I stopped watching. I think I tuned in again for the last part of the Ceremonial Duel to see it wrap up but that was about it. Fast forward several years and then I fall in love with the Abridged Series (and Marik Plays), which again I forget about for a while before going back to see how it’s been updated the past few years. And it’s here I’m introduced to the whole Waking The Dragons arc which I completely missed as a kid! And it’s the most entertaining series, for good and (mostly) bad - the only real good I’m speaking of being this whole Orichalcos angst between Yugi and Yami which thank Ra that LittleKuriboh played straight in his parody because it had me shipping them even before going back and watching the series (both dub and sub) on Crunchyroll. I’m now waiting for them to finish uploading S4 and S5 in the original because Memory World was such a trip.

Anyway, thanks for giving me a reason to wax lyrically on my latest fix, hun. Glad there is someone else who understands both my interests at the moment. ^_^

Um... This is going to sound like a weird question, but... you watched Yu-Gi-Oh back when it was still airing, right? What was that like? Did you have any theories or predictions about what would happen? Were they confirmed? What was the fandom like? Was there discourse? I ask because I was so little back then that I only caught snippets of episodes, so by the time I actually got into the fandom the series was over and I got spoiled pretty much immediately. Sorry if this is out of the blue!

one of those weeks

Okay so yes! Yugioh was the first fandom I was actively in and yes, there was fandom fighting

We basically fought about literally everything; it’s a lot more laid back even if you consider that I’m better at picking people to be in a community with now

Some Debates included

what continuity was Better (much like today but complicated by the fact that for a while it was harder to get one’s HANDS on certain continuities; which is why there are people who think Series Zero was Super Serious as opposed to being Pretty Silly)

Shipping wars, as you’d expect, but Silentshipping was actually a pretty huge ship at the time (and I’m still convinced its rarity now was because of a concerted bullying effort, given the reaction I still see to @shizukazilla every time someone finds it)

Whether or not Alister was a dude or a chick in the Japanese, which lasted about a week but was quite vicious

“Yami Terrence,” where someone insisted Malik was going to be renamed “Something stupid like Terrence” randomly on her personal shitty-ass Geocities site (which was literally just a profile about herself with a random rant about how much she hated the Yugioh dub) and then an entire section of the fandom took it as gospel that this was going to be his name until the episode he’s first called “Marik” aired

Lots and lots and LOTS of Tea bashing, which I am quite relieved most of the fandom has moved on from because I Have Seen Things Which Cannot Be Unseen

“It’s impossible to do a good nexgen”

I did indeed have at least one theory confirmed and that was basically that Atem was going to die (and I feel bad about that in retrospect but my tendency to be too genre savvy for my own good is one I’ve had for a long time)

The biggest subset of fandom theories was generally about what Atem’s actual name was going to turn out to be and they were pretty much all wrong

Also: The reason I never much got into Yugioh The Abridged Series is because initially it was literally all jokes we were literally all making with some shit that made me genuinely uncomfortable thrown in, go figure I guess?

There were a lot more fics and speculation based on the video games than there is now and I honestly miss it even though I never did play them

At its height Yugioh was absolutely more popular than Pokemon. Like, I’d walk through the store and there’s Mai on the TV Guide. I have so much random ass packaging from cereal bars and cereal; also the cereal was basically triangular Captain Crunch and again I genuinely miss it

The readership for one of the fan magazines thought Johnny Depp should play Malik in a live action movie and I’ve never forgiven them

A “dueling tutorial” DVD that one of these magazines put out where one of the kids insisted on calling Celtic Guardian “Seltic” Guardian like the basketball team and clearly was very smug about the dub pronouncing it “wrong” (the dub isn’t pronouncing Celtic wrong btw)

actually on that note of non-digital fandom both Junior and Senior year of high school I basically sat and watched my Junior year boyfriend’s buddies play Yugioh and DBZ every lunch and one of the kids insisted on calling his all-female monster deck his “Vagina Deck” (I know), plus there was a lot of ragging on Exodia

SO MANY little independent fansites like oh my god, like if the internet were a vast ocean and Tumblr were a continent these would basically have been the Pacific Islands

one of the most notable fansites was run by this guy named Edo and a Big Theory is that Edo Phoenix was actually named after him; he actually made this like, really broken little computer game for the card game I think he never finished but which Invid played for like weeks worth of hours

There was a Mary Sue Test people kept referring people to that was more stringent about character design than whoever drew the Battle City background characters

Top 10 Yu-Gi-Oh ships

Happy Valentines day! I think today would be fitting to share my favorite yugioh ships! If you’ve been on here since the beginning, you already know what number one is, but nonetheless. My top 10 yugioh ships.

10. Revolutionshipping (Yami x Anzu) - This, along with another ship on the list was my first Yu-Gi-Oh ship, and so it has a special place in my heart. I don’t think Yami returns her feelings in canon, but to say that he doesn’t care about her at all is bullshit. I like how these two have a close bond, and if Atem didn’t have to leave, and have some more time to spend together, I could see these two going from a friendship to a romance.

9. Sparkleshipping (Kisara x Mana) - The first of my rarepairs, this ship has grown on me recently. If these two ever met, I believe they would get along really well. Mana’s cheerful attitude would help Kisara’s insecurities, as well as her compassion would help Kisara be more confident in herself. Also, I don’t know about others, but having a dragon for a girlfriend would be awesome!

8. Thiefshipping (Marik x Bakura) - The abridged series, enough said.

7. Tendershipping (Ryou x Bakura) - I initially didn’t like this ship because of how Yami Bakura treats Ryou in canon. However, the fandom has caused me to like fanon tendershipping. In many of the fanfics I’ve read (mostly AUs), Bakura is this quiet and loner kind of guy, with Ryou giving him a chance at friendship, and letting Bakura’s heart open up. Reading all these fanfics, as well as the fanart, have made me open my heart to this ship.

6. Peachshipping (Yugi x Anzu) - This was also my first Yugioh ship, so it has a special place in my heart. When I was first watching Yugioh, I would always light up every time Yugi and Anzu had a moment together. They were just so cute. And they still are today. Plus there were cute moments in Dsod, with Anzu elbowing Yugi, the high-five at the end (and seeing the two in HD animation). I even have an OC for Yugi and Anzu’s daughter, Hikari. Once Anzu becomes a famous dancer, there is a famous game developer waiting for her.

5. Mistakenshipping/Noviceshipping (Yugi x Mana) - This. Ship. Is… Adorable!!! Just imagine, Yugi and Mana sitting under a shady tree in the palace garden, Mana showing off her magic tricks to Yugi, while Yugi shows Mana all the duel monster cards, including Dark Magician Girl. These two have personalities that would go so well together. I wish this ship was more popular, because it is an adorable ship with adorable characters.

4. Polarshipping (Jou x Mai) - This ship has a lot of wholesomeness. I love how at the beginning, Mai and Jou were rivals and over time, they became friends, and now the care about each other so much. Jou was devastated when Mai lost her duel, and stayed by her side as much a she could. Oh, did I forget to mention that he PLACED HIMSELF IN FRONT OF AN EGYPTIAN GOD (THE STRONGEST ONE MIND YOU) TO PROTECT MAI, EVEN THOUGH SHE COULDN’T REMEMBER HIM INITIALLY.!? Moving onto Doma, there was so much Polarshipping angst, and it is awesome! I hope Mai and Jou find each other again, they were made for each other.

3. Heartshipping (Yugi x Ryou) - This ship is 100% fluff. Just imagine, Yugi and Ryou cuddling with a blanket wrapped around them. Or how about the two giving each other hugs and kisses. Both have a connection to the spirits of the past, and both have such kind hearts that will make even the darkest of monsters smile. Overall, this ship is fluffy, and I will forever love these two together.

2. Blueshipping (Kisara x Kaiba) - I wish the Set and Kisara story wasn’t cancelled, but I understand why it couldn’t go on with Kazuki being sick. But, I would still love for Kaiba to find someone that he would be happy with, besides Mokuba. Kisara might live on in BEWD, but what if she got a modern reincarnation? I feel like if Kaiba was with someone who shared a connection with Blue-Eyes, like Kisara did, he would be happy. Kristina is my modern day Kisara, with a connection to Blue-Eyes. You know, I would probably ship Kaiba with Blue-Eyes, itself, but having Kristina/Kisara around would also make him happy.

And 1.Puzzleshipping (Yugi x Yami) - This ship speaks for itself. Yugi and Yami’s connection is the strongest that I have ever seen. They feel each other’s feelings, they know exactly what the other is thinking, and they are always in each other’s heart. These two love each other so much, and have shown many times the lengths they will go for each other. Doma gave us a huge amount of puzzle angst, and the ending/final duel was one of the saddest endings in anime. We all cheered when they got to see each other again in DSOD, and we hope they will meet again in the distant future. There are the AUs where Atem stays, and he and Yugi start to date and become lovers. What more can I say, this ship is flawless, and it is the best Yugioh ship!

So, I have a lot, a few I cannot remember, a few I’ve never put on Tumblr... So I shall put up a list of them all... by category! Only certain muses will get an explanation and not all have blogs, the ones I remember that do will have them!

Kirara (Naruto)- A ninja with a demon that had an amazing voice, used songs to buff and debuff her allies and enemies.

Ezekiel (Final Fantasy IX)- the soul that became Zidane, he is the part of Zidane that craves the blood of Gaia’s Citizens. Can use a scythe made from blood and has Blood Wings......... I was just out of high school and very depressed XD

Riboruba (Final Fantasy VIII and Kingdom Hearts)- She is the personification of Squall’s/Leon’s Gunblade! Fun Fact: Riboruba is the Japanese pronunciation of Revolver, to which that is the style of Gunblade Squall has.

AU Abridged Yami Bakura (YGOTAS and Kingdom Hearts)- Yes... a parody character, which is it’s on AU in a way, in an AU where he is a keyblade wielder................................ tada! AU Cloud Strife (Final Fantasy VII)- He is basically Sephiroth, but winning, the world is pretty much dying/almost dead, so like.... Worst Case Scenario/Apocalypse AU

AU Nylocke (TOME) I’m putting this here because this is the Nylocke that is apart of the Omega Timeline. Where Nylocke had a twin brother (Nye is Colin-based on tta Nai’s name, and Martin- because Martin Billaney), who died. He is also the world’s best hacker, even better than the main villain of the blog, which was revealed once, but never by name. URL with Omega.

Hao Asakura- This was semi-based on the manga and the anime mixing. the story the blog was based off of is actually still on Fanfiction.Net i named Angel of the Devil (https://www.fanfiction.net/s/6203556/1/Angel-of-the-Devil) Feel free to read it! There are 9 chapters!

Glitchy Red (Pokemon Creepy Pasta)- He was based off of many different piecemeal creepy pastas (Lost Silver, Pokemon Black, Strangled Red, Glitchy Red, small stories about the candle instead of flash, but used in a house it would burn it down, and the rope inside would make you hang yourself). This blog got me into KORN.

Xirra (TTA)- She is a re-purposed character with a whole new look to fit into TOME, and I used her on Remorse for Mistakes

Darkeyes (TTA)- Much Like Xirra, but never got onto the blog much.

Demon Eyes Kyo (Demon Eyes Kyo)- I read this manga in the 6th grade... it is fucking bloody and gory, so don’t look it up if you are weak stomached. I used him as the Guardian Spirit of Hao on his blog instead of the Fire Spirit.

Beelzemon (Digimon)- I had him on a blog I have yet to mention, but you’ll see why I haven’t yet, that blog is in a category all of its own~

Keldeo (Pokemon) He made a brief appearance on Kirb/Zetto blog... Chris named him Vic........ because voiced by Vic......

THE LUKA-POCALYPSE I have had a lot of Luka’s in my time RPing, and I loved the name so much, I use it as my online pseudonym now... now you will learn where I get it from!

Luka Crosszeria (Uraboku)- This was the man I fell for, he is extremely loyal and protective of the one he loves through every reincarnation they have, and will do anything, even betray his own kind for love. Luka Cross (OC- No other affiliation)- She is a girl with the power to summon elementals. From fire and ice spirits, to even the goddess of the moon. Her goal is to gain the power of Elder Summoning. Aldo Omega is in this AU as the guardian of the Library of Summoners, and he is an Elder Summon.

Luka (TOME)- She is the little sister of Xirra. A different kind of virus, hers is a contact epidemic virus that spreads through touch. She has her hands covered at all times, and is very shy, but is almost second to none in hand to hand combat, being at least 30 time stronger than her just 4 foot stature would lead you to believe. she is also a lolita that wears extremely tall boots, and yet she is still very short... like just under 5 foot short. She also dates a giant dragon... and she sounds like Hinata from Naruto... she is an actual baby that is months old
