This is gonna be bad im just warning you im freaking tired and stressed, they are gonna be Sad and Happy and UNHINGED.
Bradley has a little Rooster figurine in the front of his jeep, he got as a gag joke and was gonna leave it at whatever house he got it at but now has emotional attachment to it.
Jake's go to song in Karaoke when he is sober is Queen, he will belt out We Will Rock you, but when he is drunk enough he will sing Dolly Parton's 9 to 5 with every bit of southern twang he can
When Bob is really angry he will drop his midwest accent and go full on southern, like deep south
Natasha lost a bet in high school and had to get a bad tattoo, said tattoo was something like a duck with a cowboy hat, or stupid quote, you decide
Mickey unironically sings the lyrics to Taylor Swift's Love Story, like he will sing the bridge at the top of his lungs going sixty on the highway.
Rueben is the kind of guy to say he won't rage quit a video game then will toss the controller after failing two time's.
Javy would be the kind of guy who would let a kid paint his nail's, pink purple yellow, he does not care he will flaunt it off it because it makes the kid happy.
Bradley would somehow get a cat or dog, like one of those distribution system's like on tiktok, he would say he would foster it but end up keeping it naming it something human like, Kevin or Betty
Natasha say's she dosent like country music, but wont admit she would get down to some Luke Bryan here and there because who wouldn't
Bob seems like if he was put into a situation where him and his friend's got lost, he would be the calm one but on the inside he is panicking, he will see an exit sign with a restaurant and be like. "Guy's its okay there's burgers."
Javy will pull over when he sees cows and take there picture's. No joke would even try and pet one.
Rueben and Mickey are the worst people when it comes to trivia because they are so good at it, when they get an answer right they increasingly get more competitive.
Jake cried playing RDR2 when Arthur died and he also despised Micah like the rest of us.
Rueben is great at bowling, so good that most of the time no one play's with him
Bob will doodle little drawings on sticky note or notebook's when he is bored and give them to any of the dagger's, He drew Natasha a sketch of bird, she kept it in her locker.
Bradley has a mixtape from his dad, Goose, titled "Song's You Need to Hear Once", it's all filled with songs from the Sixties to the Eighties, all classic's from Rock to Motown, after his mom died he didnt dare to touch it, after the uranium mission he starting listening again.
Natasha has bracelets from her little cousin's that she wear's for good luck, they are bright yellow and purple string's, she never take's them off ever
Jake collects stickers from each state, his dad used to bring him a sticker from each of his trips before he got too busy, so he is trying to finish them off himself.
Mickey has a tattoo to honor his family, a way to have a piece of them everywhere he goes. A small quote in Spanish on his side stating Por aquellos que amo me sacrificaré/For those I love I will sacrifice
Reuben like to sleep in a hammock sometime's under the stars, reminding him of his childhood and growing up in the south, when he would play outside with his siblings
Javy is a momma's boy, in a good way, this man will always call his mom or text her about the thing's going on his life, before a big mission or detachment he calls her, tell her he loves her.
Jake has stepped on a jellyfish on a beach, after saying "oh they dont sting'" just for him to get shocked
Bradley broke his arm doing stunts on his bike as a kid, he has permanent scars on his forearm, he did in fact do it twice till Carole told him to not do it again.
Natasha and Bob learned the Rasputin Dance from Just Dance
Mickey has argued with people that pineapple belongs on pizza, he will full on go tooth and nail to defend his claims.
Reuben has knocked the Radio off in the Rec room, and has blamed it on Hangman, it was a whole debacle
Javy has a fear of snake's, he found one once and he took of running leaving his friend's to deal with it.
OKAY THAT IS ALL SHE WROTE, I know some of these dont make sense but I dont care i needed a stress reliver before another stressful week. AND THATS ALL SHE WILL WRITE BECAUSE THIS FAILED AGAIN

For You [Arthur Morgan x Reader - RDR2]
[[A/N: Author Allie here. I'm back to loving this sad cowboy. Not requested, just a little drabble in between other things.]]
Summary: After Dutch and the gang head deeper into the snowy wilderness, you and Arthur find a moment to relax by the fire. Word Count: 796 Warnings: Alcohol consumption. Nothing else
-----
You and Arthur are stuck in a cabin during a rough blizzard. He gets a fire going while you pile together all the blankets and pillows you could find. You come back into the main room to find him removing his soaked boots and jacket as he sits by the fire.
“Look what I found,” you said in a sing-song tone, lifting a bottle of unopened wine. He smiles, calling it a lucky find. You sit beside him, removing your own shoes and coat and leaving them by the fire to dry. You huddle close to him as he opens the bottle. There are no cups to drink from, so you share the lip of the bottle between the two of you, and he offers the first sip to you.
Ever the gentleman, you thought as you drank straight from the bottle. The taste made you grimace, sour and bitter and sweet altogether. Wine had never been your drink of choice, and Arthur laughed at your reaction.
You learn to accept the taste, slowly acclimating as you both recount silly tales from your histories to pass the time easily. When you lean against his arm, he stumbles over his words and rubs a hand down his face to hide the giddy smile in his expression. You don’t notice it, too entranced by the flames dancing before your eyes. His body was warm, and you sought out the heat, it was as simple as that.
He finished telling his story soon enough - an explanation for how he’d gotten that cut over his collarbone you’d asked about once before - and took another swig of the half-empty bottle. A comfortable silence fell upon you both for a moment, and you shut your eyes slowly. You contemplated falling asleep here, to the sounds of the heavy storm outside and the fire crackling in front of you, to the warmth of the flames and Arthur’s arm holding you snug to his body. Suddenly, in the haze of being half-asleep and half-drunk, you find another tale to tell.
“I ever tell you I was almost married once?”
He paused, looking down at you with surprise in his eyes. No, his expression said what he was too shocked to speak. No you did not.
You smiled up at him. “Well, almost engaged, I should say. There was this boy who liked me when we were kids, and, well, I s’pose I liked him well enough too. We were friends, see, and he’d follow me everywhere I went. My daddy liked him too, considering he came from a.. well, a somewhat well off family. When that boy turned fourteen, he took me to a park at midday and brought out a ring. I was fifteen at the time.”
Arthur stayed silent, brows furrowed as his attention was so wholly focused on you and the story you were telling. When you went quiet and took another drink of the wine, he scoffed. “That’s it? No ending to that story?” You looked up at him, confused.
“Well,” you murmured. “I said no. I was fifteen and I didn’t like him that much, not enough to marry him." Your wine-addled brain thought that was the end of that, and you couldn’t possibly comprehend why he needed or wanted more details.  “And...?” He trailed off. You smiled. “And then I met you.”
That made him go quiet for a moment, but he eventually spoke up again. “You liked him and he had daddy’s money,” he spat the last two words out like a swear, not aimed at you, but at a past memory that brought him pain. “So why’d you turn that down?” Arthur couldn’t help but compare himself to the boy he’d only just learned about - it was a bad habit he found he couldn’t shake. After Eliza, after Mary… He just couldn’t stop himself from wondering when it would happen - some encounter, some kind of event, that would finally push you away from him and convince you that you had no future with him, just as every other woman he’d loved before had done. And now he was learning you had once had a good future for yourself lined up - good being subjective, of course, considering his own vehement dislike of the wealthy citizens of the country, but undeniably a better future than being an outlaw out in the middle of nowhere with him - with money and a stable home to go back to.
What could have possibly driven you away from that future?
You look up at him, confusion just as plain on your features as it was on his own.
“For you, of course,” you said with such cool conviction that it rattled the man to the core.

ignore that last post I made, here’s some relationships through my series!
Siblings:
NY,CT,NJ,MA
TN,KT
NC,SC
ND,SD
(give me siblings)
-
Dating??
NY/CA
MA/VA
NJ/RI
FL/LA
GA/KT
WA/OR
Alaska/ME (I didn’t know the thing for him)
PA/OH
(gimme relationships too)
-
Anyways, I’ve bored you enough, so here’s some HEADCANNONS
-New York and California both live laugh love Taylor swift. They would definitely sing songs to each other, like Lover, Delicate, and more.
-New York City is petrified of Los Angeles. I don’t know why, but I just think it’s funny. Like when Cal brings like his kids over, NYC just hides in a corner until they go away.
-California has 3 cats, New York has 2. Cal def has a cat name Meredith, maybe Olivia too. The other one could be named Goldie or something like that. York has a ginger one that’s named apple, and another ginger one, but he’s a kitten, named boots, for puss in boots. (I thought it was a cute name)
-the pigeons flock to New York when I’m the city, no matter where, they’ll always be near New York. They would also sit on his head, and wouldn’t move until he went inside somewhere. He has named every one, and gets sad when they die. (tears maybe)
-New York has an upside-down smile.
-he doodles all over his paper and other peoples papers too. He once doodled on Texas’ paper, making a stick figure with a cowboy hat and boots.
-autism
- he never had good luck with women because they all wanted a manly man, and NY isn’t one. So, he went for men, hooking up with guys in gay bars in NYC.
-I like to believe that if he isn’t angry or aggressive, you can hear the Dutch in his voice slightly, it’s small but you can hear it. Especially when he speaks Dutch too.
-Tounges and Teeth by the Crane Wives. NY is speaking, CA is being spoken to.
-Cal and York go on silly little dates and outings together, like just sitting ontop of a skyscraper or running through Central Park in the snow or in the fall.
-“Why can’t you swim in the Hudson?” . “Do you wanna fuckin’ become mutated then fuckin’ die? I don’ think so.” -NY & NJ. (the fact that I saw people swimming in the Hudson when Brooklyn flooded was WILD.)
-oh yeah speaking of flooding, when that happens, they are constantly soaked and have trouble breathing. I feel like CA would have no clue what to do if NY was flooding, he would like freak out, then make it a bigger deal than it needs to be.
-daddy issues but doesn’t show it, unlike Texas.
-doesn’t allow himself to forget, but allows himself to forgive. He could be hurt by someone so badly, but he believes he deserves it, so he would apologize to someone that deserves to be 6ft under the ground. (thank u to sleepdeprivedsimp for thsi amazing idea, I <3 ur HC’s sm!)
Sorry that these weren’t the happiest,
but I hope u enjoyed

So I’m continuing to re-rank and write up my thoughts about every Taylor album leading up to the release of TTPD (link to my thoughts on Midnights) so yeah without further babbling here are my thoughts on evermore <3
evermore ranking
1. right where you left me
2. dorothea
3. cowboy like me
4. ivy
5. coney island (feat. The National)
6. closure
7. champagne problems
8. happiness
9. 'tis the damn season
10. it's time to go
11. gold rush
12. evermore (feat. Bon Iver)
13. marjorie
14. willow
15. no body, no crime (feat. Haim)
16. tolerate it
19. long story short
This is NOT a long story short I have a lot of thoughts about evermore my favourite child so they are under the cut
I mean I don’t even know how to begin talking about evermore. It’s my favourite Taylor album and one of my favourite albums ever. It’s so sad and weird and gay (to ME).
Folklore is obviously it’s sister album but I do feel like they are quite distinct from each other as well. For me evermore is very clearly part two of this story/universe, it developed and deepens the themes presented at the end of folklore.
For me folklore is about the ‘hope of it all’, clinging onto nostalgia and could have beens. Whereas evermore is very much about endings, about retracing every step looking for a way you could have changed the ending.
But the ending has already happened, the moment is gone and so the only choice is to relive and retell the ending over and over until it makes any sense.
right where you left me is my favourite Taylor song currently in existence, I also feel like it and little evermore are both really successful at encapsulating the albums themes, about when to hold on and when to let go.
And I love that while it’s time to go… can on the surface feel definitive, I actually think the ending of the song leaves it open to interpretation whether she actually goes or not.
Even long story short, which is fun and boppy on first listen, has darker undertones to me, especially in the way she sings ‘I survived’ the last time.
Also it’s funny because cowboy like me was not really on my radar for a while until someone (I think maybe @midnightslesbian) posted about interpreting it as a sad song, that the relationship in it doesn’t work out and ever since it’s been one of my favourites!!
It feels very much like an album about deep grief and being unable to move on from someone/something that changed you forever.
I could honestly go on and on and I will but yeah evermore now evermore forever she’s my sad baby and I love her <3

Review -After many a postponement, for the first time since his debut world tour in 2017, Grammy award winning artist Harry Styles touched down at Mt Smart Stadium, bringing Harry Styles: Love on Tour to Tāmaki Makaurau.
Released in 2022 and recently awarded Album of the Year at the 2023 Grammys, Harry's House, built in London by way of Hollywood, Malibu, and Wilshire, and engineered by the likes of Kid Harpoon, Tyler Johnson, and Samuel Witte has seen almost every major city of the world. It's only fitting that, at long last, Aotearoa finally got a taste of the artist's highest acclaimed album.
Decorated from head to toe in sequins, sparkles, cowboy hats and the coveted feather boas, punters, who had been lining up as early as two days before the concert itself, descended on Mt. Smart Stadium bright eyed and bushy tailed, eager to get as close to Styles as they possibly could. His charm, wit and general crowd interaction is a major selling point of the tour itself - something all 47,000 attendees were eager to get a taste of.
Aotearoa's own Ny Oh and Isle of Wight-based band Wet Leg opened the show, to a crowd that, although mixed in demographic, got behind every single beat. Seeing Wet Leg at Mt Smart was a bit of a big deal; the last time they were here, they performed to a sold-out Tuning Fork - a venue which can hold up to 300 people. Fast forward eight months, playing to a sold-out stadium, comprising a crowd who, for the most part, know every word to every song, is something to marvel at.
I always admire an artist who has an impeccable pre-show playlist - it shows that not only do they know their crowd well, but when done right, the right selection can show that they know the city, or in this case, country, well too. Classic tracks such as 'Best Song Ever' by One Direction and 'Bohemian Rhapsody' by Queen had the crowd doing vocal somersaults over one another, singing as loud as they could.
What took me by surprise was the addition of Poi E by Pātea Māori Club - released in 1983, sung entirely in te reo, now playing to a crowded stadium before Harry Styles of all people graced the stage. He knew his crowd, and where he was in the world, extremely well.
Styles is known for his on-stage outfits. Some are understated, some are extremely overstated, and most, if not all of them, end up being one of the main focal points of every performance. The last time he was in Aotearoa, he wore an all-black suit, assumingly paying homage to the All Blacks. Last night, he wore a short sleeve raglan tee with a bejewelled whale's tail adorning it, with a pair of purple dress pants. Not the most spectacular outfit compared to his recent Australia tour, but we'll take what we can get.
After all, fashion comes second when you're stood mere metres from One Direction's Golden Child.
It's always special when an artist comes to any given country and does more than just plays their show and jump on the next flight home. On his recent Australian tour, Styles immersed himself in the culture of the Aboriginal peoples of Australia, and his stop in Aotearoa was no exception.
At his first break in the show, Styles, who, earlier in the day, had spent time with Te Matatini finalists, Angitū, sang the start of 'Tūtira Mai Ngā Iwi' - written by Canon Wiremu Te Tau Huata in the 1950s.
The crowd, clearly stunned, sung the rest of the waiata back to him without hesitation while he danced around the stage. He continued to do this multiple times throughout the night, which kept the crowd on their toes. I was almost waiting for it to happen every time he got the chance to speak. At one point in the concert, he picked a Tino Rangatiratanga flag from the crowd, and put it on his mic stand - the flag found itself to be a permanent fixture on the stage for the rest of the night.
The moments of the concert I remember the most vividly seem to be the same at almost every one I go to; the times when the whole crowd is still, flashlights up, yelling the lyrics of the saddest songs back at the person singing them - and last night was no exception. At the end of the catwalk which spanned what felt like ten trillion miles, Styles performed 'Matilda', 'Little Freak', and 'Satellite' one after the other, and for all three songs, I've never heard a crowd with so much gusto.
Harry performed songs from across all three released bodies of work, such as 'Woman', to 'Golden', and even far back as a new rendition of One Direction's seminal hit, 'What Makes You Beautiful'. He even snuck in crowd-favourite unreleased weapon, 'Medicine' which went viral during the tour for his last album, Fine Line. During every song, the crowd didn't hold back. So much energy in one space - it was amazing to bear witness to.
It's crazy to think that, from Harry's end, there are 47,000 people in the same space as you are singing the words to the music you wrote back at you. Those moments stick with an artist - I feel as though they stick with the crowd for eternity.
Crowd interaction is paramount for an artist as big as Styles. Throughout his time as a solo performer, he's always placed a large emphasis on connecting with his crowds, and as he's grown, the interactions have only evolved to be more intense.
Last night was no exception. From pointing out a fan who had been throwing fruit at him (which then proceeded to him singing a two-minute-long song about people dressed as bananas, eggs, aubergines, so on and so forth), the singer, who encourages fans to bring signs with him to his shows, went back and forth with two fans. One, who allegedly sold their cats leg to be at the show, and the other, who was with her best friend going through a breakup. After finding out the now ex-boyfriend wasn't prioritising them, hence the breakup, he told the crowd to "not be a Michael, be a Romy!"
Styles also asked the crowd about the census, telling everyone that he too had filled it out prior to the show.
Finishing with crowd favourite, and aptly named, 'Kiwi', Styles had made the nights of 12-year-olds with their parents and mid-40-year-olds alike, as well as everyone in between. Harry Styles is truly an artist who transcends all levels of musical talent and incomparable wit, with a hint of charm that can't be matched.
The remnants of the 47,000 plus feather boas will live on the field of Mt Smart Stadium until Harry Styles makes his triumphant return to Aotearoa.
Admittedly, he doesn't actually know when that will be. All he knows is that he hopes it won't be too long.

FF7 Characters' Taste in Music Headcanons: Part 1 (party members)
Cloud: When he was a teenager, he listened to "the greats": Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, etc. and was honestly kind of insufferable about it. Now he listens to White Stripes and is unaware that that's not cutting edge hip anymore (aka Cloud is my gf lol)
Tifa: Went through a country phase as a teenager (insert obligatory cowboy hat reference). Now she listens to 70s hair bands and dance remixes of pop songs during workouts, and folksy indie stuff like Avett Brothers during calmer moments
Aerith: indie, especially with folk or punk influences. She has a pair of clunky headphones that she's particularly fond of
Barrett: 70s R&B, credits Marvin Gaye as a formative influence, unironically and passionately sings along to Aretha Franklin at any opportunity. Often makes comments like "Now this is the good stuff" as he cranks up his faves. Also introduced a lot of funk and a little bit of disco into his diet because Marlene likes to dance to it
Red/Nanaki: Jazz. He only kind of gets it but listens for clout with a contemplative look on his face
Cid: Jimmy Buffett, America, boomer dad rock. He's annoying about it. "This is good music, not whatever kids listen to nowadays."
Yuffie: In direct response to Cid, will often blast k pop. When she's not trying to own Cid, she listens to any female-fronted band/powerful female figure like Beyonce and Rihanna
Vincent: Big band/swing/ballads from the 40s. Stuff that he finds romantic but puts him out of touch with literally every other human on earth. Only listens late at night on shitty speakers to maximize how sad it makes him.
Cait Sith: Has the innate ability to blast carnival music. Reeve listens to 2000s indie like Peter, Bjorn, and John and Death Cab for Cutie.

'captain&firstmate'
made a zolu playlist that lulls me to sleep every night (real) i wanted the music to sound soft, like we're floating on the sea. with sometimes moments lost in the night & sometimes brighter in the day and of course the lyrics all express how i see their relationship at different moments yay + spotify link's in the title but for pple who don't like that, i wrote down the list its like 13 songs ✧
Piensa en mí (Luz Casal) ✧ Careless (FKA Twigs) ✧ Hypnotised (Years&Years) ✧ Tennessee Whiskey (Chris Stapleton) ✧ Thank You (Bonnie Raitt) ✧ Neptune (Sufjan Stevens) ✧ Beyond (Daft Punk) ✧ Sometimes I Cry (Chris Stapleton) (again) ✧ C'mon Baby Cry (Orville Peck) ✧ Sunlight (Hozier) ✧ This Feeling (Alabama Shakes) ✧ Can't Stop (Red Hots) ✧ Fragments of Time (Daft Punk)
read more is for if you wanna dig arnd my brain and understand why i picked each song ily have fun
Piensa en mí - Luz Casal the instruments feel so joyful and soft, her voice is Strong and kind of desperate + the imagery of the divine, and of accepting to die by your lover's hand, wanting to be there at any of their worst moments, not wanting to live w/o them. yeah
careless - FKA Twigs ft Daniel Caesar the music is a bit more low&quiet, this feels like reading zoro's heart to me, like the things he wouldn't say but feels so deeply. + 'you can be careless with me' with the softest tone ever, and the lyrics about trusting & being so infatuated that it just has to get out even if you don't know how or until when
Hypnotised - Years&Years the whole reason this playlist exists tbh. the ship imagery of course, 'surround me body and soul, pull me into your glow, make me blush' dare i say more. yes, i dare, 'unbound me (literal huh), spin me in gold. as the story unfolds in your touch'. the whole,, a boy who offers you life and takes you far away. mmh.
Tennessee Whiskey - Chris Stapleton so huh, alcohol imagery with a deep rough voice, right ? a strong feeling of zoro's chaotic cowboy-ish pseudo pirate hunter life before meeting luffy and how he would reflect on his life now. 'but when you poured out your heart i didn't waste it, cause there's nothing like your love to get me high' so sweet
Thank You - Bonnie Raitt i've always loved this song since i found it, it's so gentle. 'you came into my life, always like you knew, that time was runnin' out, oh i came runnin' home to you' // 'yeah i'm afraid they'll come and take away this precious dream of you' - speaks sm about trusting your love (i use love for partner/lover/whatever they are to each other thank u), fearing that death can take them from you, but still being thankful you met & shared this life in the first place.
Neptune - Sufjan Stevens (& others) (its long sorry) my apologies for i am queer and sad a lot, and this is very much about some type of religious comparison, it's bittersweet, but. it brings a feeling of peace, of : i need your love, no matter the shape, as long as it is there. 'so if you won't hold me, i have no objections. so if you won't please me, i make no commands. so if you don't trust me, it's best if i drown.' mmh. feeling me on this ? yes ? thank you
Beyond - Daft Punk this music, the drums and intro, reminds me so much of the anime's big brass focused & happy soundtrack, but it turns into a song about love. how pretty is that ? so pretty. 'it speaks of places never seen, your home's a promise long forgotten, it is the birthplace of your dreams.' i see this song as really the 'beyond love, come alive' of their relationship and how they exist together with the crew, on the ship, in their adventures. it's an understanding, a promise, a dream.
Sometimes I Cry - Chris Stapleton i'm such a fan of this man how is his voice so full of deep emotions, he sings through my soul. this is very much the separation in different islands arc for me, it reeks of loneliness and the more it goes on you can feel the mask of being strong slipping into accepting fully the misery. lovely.
C'mon Baby, Cry - Orville Peck yeah, lots of cowboys, i know. but this one's Different. i love the cheerfullness of it, i feel like it's really about two boys who get each other and one of them wants to help this time. this is more luffy's side of the cowboyness of this playlist in my head, but it cld be either way. the 'i got an hour or so' bit always makes me laugh, it's kind of funny like 'i love you, show me your pain, i'll nurse for a while, then we move.'
Sunlight - Hozier huh stole this one from someone who recced it on tumblr dot com thank you friend you're so real for this choice. there's smthg abt the choir that just gives you that extreme intense feeling of rising above or fighting. the sun metaphor this playlist lacked, from light to flames to pain to death to falling into the sea. ah, beautiful.
This Feeling - Alabama Shakes might as well come out and say this but softly strung guitars are a very zoro&luffy's sound to me, a quiet texture that flows so smoothly you know. i see this song as kind of a look into luffy's heart, of being afraid of being left alone, or having spent a long time alone. it feels simple, going from a hard time to a good time to a fun time, like someone full of trust&love for life wrote this i can feel it. and it's very protective too, you shouldn't take this feeling from him, it's his. his happiness and (to me, in this pl) the quiet understanding of his feelings for his first mate.
Can't Stop - Red Hot Chili Peppers happy bright sonnng i didn't lie. 'this punk, the feelin' that you stay for. in time, i want to be your best friend' // 'the world i love, the tears i drop, to be part of the wave, can't stop.' lalala i love this song it's so huge and fast paced, it gives me luffy-brain with zoro running behind and living through the entire world
Fragments of Time - Daft Punk ft Todd Edwards such a cosy nostalgic feeling 'our only plan is to improvise, and its crystal clear that i don't ever want it to end.', such a kind adventure driven song about loving every day and the memories you make with pple you love
anywaysss thats it for now maybe ill add more when i come across a song i feel fits bye thank you have cool day

"and also I have a lot of complicated and sad feelings about harry I need to process!" Can you expand on this? (If it's not personal of course)
oooooof anon I don’t even know where to start
Maybe with the fact I’m severely sleep deprived after the week of wembley? And that I will probably change my mind tomorrow after a good nights sleep again? Or that I’m super sad and a little embarrassed about having these feelings and thoughts in the first place?
At almost every harry show I’ve had an existential crisis at some point during the concert, of “what am I doing here? Why am I like this? Why do I spend so much money and time and energy and attention on this? Why don’t I have more of a ‘real life’? Why am I such a loser? Why do I feel like I missed my chances and became a little-below-average-adult instead of the special unique star my mum always said I would be? Why do I know all these thoughts are there bc I’m depressed and a little too self aware and hanging on by a thread, it feels like, desperately trying to find the next thing to look forward to in order to not notice how little I feel overall anymore and how little I care at all about keeping on living?” (Wow that got depressing sorry)
But this does kind of take me out of the experience for a second. And then when I see harry. i see him and his face up close. And I’ve always prided myself on the fact I’m extremely good at reading people, (let’s forget for a second I could always be wrong obv for the sake of this explanation), and what I see when I look at harry is a completely crafted stage persona (fair enough) but like - it didn’t always feel like this last year? Idk, maybe it’s the combination of this being a stadium tour, all the drama that has happened since last tour, then the having to camp for days to be able to see him close-ish, being surrounded by the absolute nastiest bullies with TPWK tattoos you can imagine (literally half of them are bullies I’m not joking), the entire feather boa cowboy hats “fuck me fuck me fuck me” thing solo harries have going on, harry doing gender reveals with such glee (???? Like shouldn’t we like stop doing that? I get you love babies harry but, shouldn’t especially harry know gender conformity reinforcement isn’t like, it?), reacting to all these yuck and nasty signs, re-encouraging the environment-catastrophes that are feather boas and single use cowboy hats ?? So I see him several times performing and he’s got all these amazing songs that mean so so so much to me and I see him going through the motions (fair enough) and not really feel most of the songs, and all of that just makes it look so - inauthentic? Idk. It’s stupid but it makes me feel like he’s a sellout, and that’s just not fair for me to say or think, and I know that, but I can’t help it. And then today he hangs with Shelli Azoff who’s been to court bc she’s abusing her sevice staff??? And it does make me wonder am I just deluding myself? How much is true and how much isn’t of what we make him out to be? Genuinely, him bathing in and demanding for more of the literal worship of his actual person gave me the Ick so bad yesterday. And then again he sings sweet creature and kisses his cross necklace right after. And then again It’s probably (as it always has) much more to do with my ego than anything else, and being upset he didn’t even acknowledge me for a second while literally standing in front of him with my big ass birthday sign. So just me being a sad little kid who’s feelings got hurt bc I didn’t get the attention for my birthday from the boy I like the way I had way too high expectations of.
All these thoughts are jumbled, and I’m crying and I’m tired but you asked so you shall receive.
Im just tired of having to mentally defend harry when he’s clearly wanting it exactly the way it is - saying he’s never been happier over and over on stage. So. Do with that what you will.

2023 Year End List - #18
Tumblr media
18. The Land Is Inhospitable And So Are We - Mitski
Main genres: Indie Folk
A decent sampling of: Slowcore, Alternative Country, Chamber Pop, Countrypolitan
Gonna admit something that could get me crucified in some spaces of the internet - Mitski is not my #1 contemporary "sad girl" in indie rock/pop, and I've never really 100% bought the hype.
She's definitely talented, and arguably the most likable, down-to-earth indie musician that has reached her level of fame. But Puberty 2 through Be The Cowboy and Laurel Hell, I've only ever found about two tracks on each of these records that I'd wanna revisit regularly (Haven't touched the fan favourite Bury Me At Makeout Creek or those first two records yet, so I could be totally missing out on her best material).
You see, "Your Best American Girl" and "Nobody" are excellent singles that have always deserved the hype they received, but then her records as a whole have generally been full of these songs that I would describe as "under-cooked" and sometimes too short for their own good.
This time around, however, I'm happy to express that I genuinely really enjoyed her latest LP The Land Is Inhospitable And So Are We. Mitski's greatest qualities as a songwriter shine much brighter here than on recent past projects. Stripping everything down to intimate, slow-moving folk-country balladry plays to her greatest strengths - the way in which Mitski carries her melodies so delicately, like a broken bird when singing, and how clearly gifted she is at writing those melodies.
The display of painfully universal human emotions also permeates this record as much as any other Mitski project, but this time I feel that her songs are given more room to breathe, which allows the emotional gut punches to hit much harder.
This is most evident on the record's finest moment, a song called "Heaven" which, like all of the best Mitski tracks, is mostly about the shameless longing for the love of another human being, this time set to the tune of arcadian, countrypolitan-style string arrangements that flourish over a wistful promenade of reflections on her unbridled devotion towards a lover that is all too absent. This is the sound of her signature artistic style aging into a fine, full-bodied wine that I could very easily get drunk off of (and then, in true Mitski fashion, start sobbing uncontrollably).
There's also the thundering bittersweet triumph of "When Memories Snow", wherein Mitski expresses the desire to wipe clean all the traumas of the past, while achieving a sound that is close, familiar, and personal, yet also somehow larger than life as any 60s brill building production. That bold country orchestra is every bit as awakening to the senses as dunking your head in a bucket of ice water, and I also just need to take a minute to acknowledge the deeply satisfying chord progressions that manage to really seal the deal on making this track feel truly massive.
I also really appreciate the closer "I Love Me After You", an epilogue that gently sways and disappears into a hushed, forested midnight of bassy piano chords, low crashing cymbals, and sleepy guitar drones.
If you weren't fully sold on Mitski before in the same way that I wasn't, then this could very well be the record that gets you hooked. The Land Is Inhospitable And So Are We plays to all of her strengths as an artist, and it really shows Mitski coming into her own as a seasoned musician who's capable of adapting to new sounds.
I'm still not convinced she couldn't make an even better record in the future if she continues in this direction as a songwriter. It's a bit slow to start, and the B-side heavily dominates the album, but this is her first record that I will be putting in my regular rotation, and a big highlight of the year for the Mitski diehards and longtime skeptics alike. So kudos to the millennial queen of sad girl indie.
8/10
Highlights: "Heaven", "When Memories Snow", "I Love Me After You", "My Love Mine All Mine"
