Not every character can be a cutie-patootie and a smol bean. Most of the characters that you pick are at least, terrible people. And at most, FUCKING MURDERERS. You can love and adore a character, but you shouldn't ignore what they are currently doing, and their current motives.

I've gotta be honest with youse, this might be the about-to-turn-21-angst speaking but I'm so sick of all my favourite media being infested with teenagers. End of it. Give me some adults saving the world and falling in love, why is that so hard? Especially since it's not teenagers writing it and the characters don't act like/ look like (TV) teenagers- just make them 20 something or 30 something pleeeeeeeeeeeeasssseee

Teens should be represented and have media for them- but not an endless barrage of 20 something models being paraded around in a soap opera of sex and drugs orchestrated by grown adults marketing complex topics for tik tok shorts or one book after another about finding the love of your life who gives everything meaning before the grand age of 18!

why are you, as people who have been active in fandoms, criticising children for being in ‘cringey fandoms’?

fandom is cringey, it always has been and it always will be. you know this, you’ve been part of these cringey fandoms before.

making fun of literal children for enjoying content and expressing that in a way you find easy to mock is just outright hypocritical most of the time. yes a lot of eddie munson fans are quite clearly new to fan culture, but can you honestly say that you were never the same? yes a lot of people take tiny details and make the most insane, unfounded theories based on them, but can you say you never did the same or were in a community that did the same?

why are you making fun of children in the first place? that’s what most of these people are - children and young teenagers.

All this aroace character shipcourse has proven to me that a majority of people that interact in fandom cannot actually interact with characters and media outside of shipping and genuinely I believe you need to learn how to interact with media outside of shipping.
