Tumblr media
percy jackson? you mean the total pinterest bf?
whenever he can, you best believe this boy is either holding your hand or giving you hugs hugs hugs
whenever he holds your hand, it's usually with your fingers interlocked and with a small grip
im talkin like a tiny squeeze but just- all the time
cause, lets be honest, the whole getting-kidnapped-by-the-goddess-of-the-heavens-and-going-missing-for-months thing has left the both of you scarred, so he likes to have a small grip on your hand so you know that he's not going aaannnyyyyywhere
but if you dont like that, then ofc he won't do it. percy would never do anything to you that you don't like / makes you uncomfortable, sally taught him better than that !
SPEAKING OF THE QUEEN
percy 100% tells his mom everything about you
so naturally, shes ecstatic to meet you !
( i mean who wouldn't be, look at yourself, muah )
when you do meet her, it doesn't take long for you to realize you love this woman almost as much as you love her son
sally jackson is the sweetest human being you've ever met, she cooks for you, tells you stories about baby percy ( best believe that scrapbook is coming out ! ) laughs at all your jokes, and listens to your stories as if she's watching a telenovela
im not surprised if you guys just become total besties while percy and paul just kinda sit there like 🙂
if he meets your parent(s), this boy is the most respectful mf you've ever seen
not that he goes all "i'm sorry, the old percy can't come to the phone right now, why? oh! cause he's meeting y/n's parents and turned into a new person!"
he just wants to make sure that he has a good impression with them
omg and if u have little siblings?? gods, he'll play with them allllll day and they'll have sm fun together
anyways back to the couple of the hour
hugs from percy are literally the best hugs you'll ever receive
they're so warm omg
and he will never ever pull away from a hug first
somebody's calling him? they gotta wait cause he's hugging his #1 over here !!
i feel like he'd give just really gentle hugs like, he'll just put his arms on your waist and place his chin on your head and bam
ya'll could just stand there hugging for hours
ofc, dates are limited at chb, but you guys make it work <3
obviously, he lovesss planning dates nearby the lake
and no matter how many times you do go to the lake, he always finds ways to make each date different than the last
im talkin a picnic, making matching necklaces out of shells, building sandcastles, beach volleyball ( hes very pro, he'll teach you if you don't know how to play ofc ), swimming ( again, if you don't know how to swim it'll be his #1 priority to teach you how to ), and little trips around the lake in a canoe <3
and this man, LOVES his underwater kisses
he could literally push you into the water then be like ' oh no y/n fell into the lake, gotta go save them! ' then come back like 5 mins later all grinning cause all you did was KISS ya weirdos
i also feel like percy is on it with his skincare routine
and it's so basic too?? like all he does is cleanse and bam perfect skin
its not fair
but he'd also really care and make sure that his lips are always soft and never ever chapped or dry
not only because he wants to make sure you enjoy every kiss you two share <3 but also because he hates the way it feels when his lips are the slightest bit dry
sensory issues are something that people with adhd face ( its me, hi! ) and some people dont know that !
so best believe he always carries chapstick in his pocket <33
Tumblr media
a/n pt.2 : hii! hope you enjoyed my hcs <333 did ya catch all my taylor swift references? also im sorry for any spelling and all the grammar mistakes, sometimes i'll add the apostrophe and sometimes, well, i dont

all of the moments that led me to you.
Tumblr media
warning: steve's black eye (nothing new), violence, mentions of blood, a fight between steve x billy
pairing: steve x reader, light billy x reader (not really, this isn't a love triangle lol)
words: 4.5k+
summary: the title speaks for itself -- a series of moments with steve harrington
an: i was going to post everything as one fic but i kind of hit writer's block in the middle of year 1985 so i'll post this for now instead and hopefully gain some inspiration to continue :)
-
yr. 1984
i. the first meeting ft. dustin henderson
the words “code red” hitting your ears every five seconds, the stomping of feet running around the house, the back door opening and closing several times - babysitting is weird. not one kid is ever the same, some are easy-going, others can be a real pain in the ass.
you hoped you got an easy kid today. one that just stays in front of the television, binging on crackers and occasionally asking for your help. obviously, you were wrong.
if it wasn’t for the fact that it pays well while simultaneously allowing you to do some of your own studies and looking good on your college resume, you wouldn’t even be here.
but you are here. seated inside the henderson household.
“hey y/n, can you please drive me to my friend mike’s house?,” dustin runs into the living room, an exasperated expression on his face, interrupting your reading.
“are you okay?” you ask, worried about the kid you just met when his mother called an hour ago trailing on about how she saw your babysitting flyer some time back. and even though she knew that she had to book a date at least two days beforehand, she still asked if you could watch over her son.
“just for today” she said, as she needed to look for her missing cat. her promise of double pay, convincing you to accept her request.
“i’m fine, i just really need you to drive me to mike’s,” dustin says hurriedly, eyes hopeful that you wouldn’t ask anymore questions.
“why?” you ask and the boy’s shoulder slumps, doing his best to not roll his eyes at your persistence. he’s obviously not used to  asking for permission.
“i uhm forgot my book there and i really, really need it to study for my exam tomorrow,” he sends you a toothy grin, trying to convince you that that was all there is to it. you’re no fool. you notice the slight change in his voice, his fingers anxiously playing with his pockets, right leg slightly bouncing up and down - indications that he’s lying.
“you know your mom’s not paying for my gas, right?” you reason, not wanting to give in to his request and hoping you could just have a calm afternoon.
dustin sighs, his smile disappearing, “fine. i’ll just go behind your back and bike there and if i end up missing or in a ditch somewhere then it’ll be your fault,” he counters, personality quickly switching from the boy who said “please.”
you sat there, flabbergasted, “are you…blackmailing me right now?” an eyebrow raising, you couldn’t believe how diabolical the curly headed boy is.
“i’m not blackmailing you. i’m simply telling you what's going to happen if you don’t drive me,” he smiles, an almost devilish smile, tone hardening with every word and you truly do not know whether you’re terrified or impressed.
letting out a quiet chuckle, you shake your head, “alright, c’mon kid,” you say, grabbing your car keys off the table, “but we’re going back as soon as you get it.”
——
you should’ve known not to trust him, finding yourself hurriedly getting into the back seat of the car of the last person you ever expected to interact with - steve harrington.
pushing his forgotten red roses towards the other end of the car, you take your seat in the middle.
“wh-what are you doing?” dustin turns from the passenger seat, facing you as steve takes in your presence, eyes on his rearview mirror, a confused expression evident on his face.
“y/n l/n?,” he questions, finally remembering where he has seen you before, “you’re in nancy’s grade?,” he asks, more a question for himself than you.
you nod, “steve harrington,” acknowledging his presence for the first time.
“why are you with dustin?” he wonders. he didn’t know much about you. only that you and nancy were sometimes studying in the library together. she’s told him before that you always get the top grades in class and she wanted to be around more motivated people like you.
“i’m his babysitter and i’m coming with,” you simply answer his question, keeping the explanation short. it’s weird enough that you were inside the car of hawkin high’s famous “king.”
“since when did you have a babysitter dude,” steve reverts his attention back to dustin.
“i'll explain later,” dustin reassures him quickly before turning back to you,  “and uhm, you don’t have to come, i have steve now,” he points to the guy in the driver seat like you don’t see him.
from what you’ve heard about steve, you’re not sure you trust leaving the young boy with him. he’s known for being notorious, having bad company and overall, just a guy with the money, the looks and the popularity that somehow has every girl wanting him and every boy wanting to be him. you’re not sure how that guy can be trusted with kids.
subconsciously, you eye steve suspiciously, causing him to put two hands up in surrender “hey, i have no idea what’s happening either,” he defends, shrugging nonchalantly.
snapping out of your daze, you focused your attention back on dustin, “look dustin, steve isn’t the one being paid to watch you right now,” you start to explain.
“hold on, you’re getting paid for this?” the older boy interrupted.
you ignore him, attention still on dustin, “if something were to happen to you, your mom would be looking for me. i’m responsible for you kid, i-,”
“fine! there’s no time,” he cuts you off, obviously in a rush.
“you can come, just,” dustin contemplates, already regretting the words that slipped from his lips, “just don’t blame me for getting you into this thing.”
at that, steve snaps back to reality, “wait, wait, wait, if this ‘thing’ is about ‘that’ then she definitely can NOT come,” steve declared, his voice laced with a seriousness you didn’t think he could have.
“well, are you going to drag her out of the car so she doesn’t find out about this thing?,” the younger boy replies, a sarcastic tone evident on his lips.
“guys, i can hear you,” you piped in, eyes going back and forth between the two boys, having absolutely no clue what they’re referring to.
“dustin, im not joking ok!,” steve ignores you, “we can’t tell people about this,” a serious expression appearing on his face, one you’ve never seen on him before, “we’ll get in trouble, you know that. besides, we shouldn’t involve anyone else into this anyway!,” he protested.
he didn’t sound like the steve you would hear about at school. he sounded responsible, protective. he sounded like…a babysitter.
“i know that steve, that’s why i told her to leave!,” dustin shouted.
“well, she’s clearly still sitting in the backseat of my car!,” steve’s voice raises with every syllable.
“can someone just explain what’s happening?” you try butting in, rolling your eyes, completely fading into the background as they continue their bickering.
“i don’t see YOU trying to do anything about it!,” dustin throws the argument back to steve, his patience on thin ice.
“she’s YOUR babysitter!,” steve points out yet again, ears turning red, veins popping and finally pushing the young boys’ limit.
“fuCK!, we don’t have time for this steve, we really have to go NOW!” dustin shouts, losing his temper.
steve, ready to reprimand him, before you decide you’ve had enough.
the series of “thing” and “this” has your mind spinning and your curiosity getting the best of you.
“SHUT UP!” gaining the two boys’ attention, their bodies turning towards you, “both of you. shut. up.” you enunciate, loud and clear.
“i promise i won’t blame you…or you,” glancing at the two boys, “for whatever the hell this thing is…just put your seatbelts on and drive,” ending their argument as you sat behind the passenger seat, clicking your own seatbelt into place.
steve gives up, letting out a sigh, “fuck it,” before finally stepping on the gas.
ii. the babysitters and an angry billy hargrove
you should have never picked up mrs. henderson’s call and you definitely shouldn’t have agreed to babysitting. what was the point of having your own terms and conditions when you didn’t even follow them yourself?
you should, however, have listened to steve and dustin when they told you to leave.
the day isn’t even over yet and you’re already questioning everything you knew. in a span of a couple of hours, you have been introduced to a world you couldn’t even imagine. having to pinch yourself a couple of times to make sure you weren’t just dreaming.
everything was strange.
you’ve spent the whole afternoon dropping meat, trying to bait something called a demogorgon. met steve’s spiked bat. got questioned regarding your relationship with billy hargrove from his very own red headed step-sister. came face to face with the said demogorgon, who, by the way, had demogorgon friends and were actually a pack of demodogs. almost died in a junkyard. walked in the dark woods just to end up in a creepy laboratory. felt the awkward tension between steve, nancy and jonathan. understood why will byers was called the zombie boy. stood behind steve while holding a random kitchen knife you grabbed from the byers’ kitchen — and to top it all off, encountered a little girl who flung the finally, very dead demogorgon through the window then unlocked the front door, all using only her mind.
in conclusion, monsters and superpowers aren’t just a thing people read in their comic books.
“how are you holding up?” steve breaks you out of your thoughts, your eyes snapping to his voice.
everyone else has left, leaving you the only two teenagers to act as the adults once again.
the strangest thing of all of this was somehow, steve harrington went from being the popular jock to a guy whose simple presence can provide you comfort. everything you knew about him has changed.
it’s amazing what shared trauma could do.
you shoot him a small smile, “well, i definitely wasn’t expecting all this,” you look around the mess around you, “to be a part of that thing” you refer back to the boys’ banter, trying to keep the energy light despite everything that happened.
he gives you a sheepish smile,  almost like he was sorry, regretting that he allowed you to be a part of this.
“it’s not your fault. i chose to come,” you say, reading his thoughts and putting an end to them.
“where did you put the demogorgon?” you continue, changing the subject, reassuring him that you were ok. at least, as much as anyone could be ok in this situation.
“we stuffed it in the fridge,” he shakes his head, arms crossing, like he couldn't believe it himself, “‘for science’ dustin said,” steve quotes the younger boy with a grin.
“right, of course, all the important things,” you chuckled, matching his grin as the two of you continued to clean the broken fragments that have scattered around the house.
you thought it was over, that you could all just wait for everything else to unfold in peace but after a few minutes of silence, the kids were back on their feet, ready to "get off the bench.” you’re not sure how steve has the energy to continue arguing with them when you’re completely exhausted.
the sound of an engine brings a silence to the house, max running towards the blinds recognizing the car that has made an appearance in the driveway, “shit, it’s billy, he can’t see me,” she says frantically, eyes meeting yours, a silent call for help.
“i got it, just hide,” you hushly ordered, quickly making your way to the front porch. steve tried pulling you back but you were out the door before anyone could protest, resulting in him looking through the peephole.
billy’s momentarily confused expression at your arrival wasn’t lost on you and if you were in his shoes you’d probably have the same one on, “hey sweetheart, what are you doing here?,” his husky voice taking up space in the cold, night air.
standing a couple steps away from him, his hand immediately finds a spot on your waist, pulling you closer. you placed a hand on his chest to keep some distance between the two of you, aware of the audience you have, “i’m babysitting a kid, his friend lives here,” you explain, smiling sweetly at him, hoping that he won’t suspect anything and leave as soon as he came.
“have you seen my sister?” he asks breathily, face inching closer and closer to yours, a smirk on his lips. if it was any other day, you would have enjoyed his attention, maybe even be up for some fun. right now though, you just want him as far from max as possible.
“no, why would she be here?,” feigning innocence, you hope he believes your lie.
“she’s been hanging out with a couple of kids here, a bunch of bad influences,” he huffed, eyes quickly glancing around you before pulling you even closer.
“i haven’t seen her, she’s probably at the arcade, have you checked?,” you hope he doesn’t hear the shakiness in your voice.
“you know what i like about you sweetheart?,” he muttered, placing a harsh kiss below your ear, his grip on your waist starting to dig into your skin. you know he has caught you.
“you can’t lie for shit,” pulling you away from him, gaze darkening, he howled with laughter as you followed his line of vision, seeing four kids peeking through the window — one, with very bright red hair.
frustrated curses slip from your lips as you shoot them an angry glance before billy grabs your wrist, dragging you right behind him as he pounded on the door, coming face to face with steve.
“harrington, am i dreaming or is that you?,” he mocks, his hold on your wrist tightening.
“yeah it’s me, don’t cream your pants,” steve rolls his eyes, hands on his hips like a disappointed mother.
steve notices you wince under billy’s hold, “let her go man,” he orders, taking a step towards the wider boy.
billy focuses his attention back on you, for a second you see a feeling of betrayal flash through his eyes but that was quickly replaced with a snarled expression, like he was completely disgusted with the thought of you.
“is there a reason why you both are here alone?” his dark voice causes goosebumps to rise throughout your body.
you’ve heard of how violent he can be but until right now, he has never shown that side to you.
“what are you saying?,” you almost couldn’t recognize him anymore, breath hitching in your throat.
“are you fucking him behind my back, sweetheart?,” billy’s voice grew menacing, “you know i don’t like to share,” he continued accusing you, his free hand coming in contact with your neck, forcing you to look at him.
“dude, no. we’re babysitting,” steve answers for you and motioning towards the kids like it’s the most obvious answer in the world.
“you’re hurting her,” he emphasized, “just let her go,” gently stepping closer, steve has his arms slowly reaching for you, hands up, a signal that he comes in peace.
steve hopes billy will focus his attention on him instead, just wanting to get you out of there. he feels responsible for your safety and well-being.
“gladly…” billy shot him an evil smirk, “you can’t trust bitches anyways right, harrington?,” he scowled, violently throwing you against the wall.
your head makes a direct impact with the concrete, causing you to fall to the ground, a whimper slipping through your lips. you hear the kids' screams and a punch being thrown as you feel your vision slipping between darkness and light.
you make out dustin running towards you and grabbing your hand, trying to get you to sit up. a couple of unsuccessful tries, he pleads “i’ll come back okay, just stay alive,” as he makes his way back to his friends.
the proceeding events were all a blur and it felt like you were watching it through static television. one moment you can hear victorious cheers. the next moment, you hear something break and steve is suddenly lying on the floor a couple feet away from you, bloody faced and barely breathing. billy continuously throws his punches and the kids scream in fear. you try to get up but your body betrays you, only allowing you to reach out your arm towards the brown haired boy.
somehow, the sound of the punches halted and billy fell to the ground. a sigh of relief escapes from your lips while the slow rise and fall of steve harrington’s chest becomes the last thing you see as you completely fade into the darkness.
the next time you open your eyes is to another set of screams, waking you up from your much needed slumber, if you can even call it that. you ignore the pounding in your head as you try to regain your vision. the first thing you feel are the strong arms in front of you, acting as your seatbelt, as you try to piece it all together.
a couple minutes of confusion later, you finally recognize what’s happening, joining steve in full babysitter mode. the yelling of “no’s!,” and “stop the car’s!,” filling the tiny vehicle.
“great, now they’re both awake!, i told you we should have just left them!,” mike cursed dustin annoyingly.
“we were not going to leave them there, mike!,” dustin retorted, “c’mon guys i promised you’ll be cool, okay? just calm. down,” he softly ordered, like he was the babysitter and you two were his children.
you scoff, “dustin, don’t fucking tell me to calm down!,” somehow fearing for your life now more than ever.
“everyone just shut up, i’m trying to focus!,” max yells as lucas yells the directions in her ear.
max makes a harsh turn causing a chorus of screams to rise. your hand immediately clutching around steve’s arm, face burrowing in his neck, seeking for protection, afraid of the crash that luckily never came.
you’re not even too sure what happened the rest of the night but somehow you all made it out unscathed, besides the fact that you and steve are probably suffering matching concussions.
iii. the heart-to-heart
in the tiny bathroom of the byer’s house, you find yourself standing in between steve harrington’s legs. his body feels familiar now, especially after you seeked comfort in each other in the dark tunnel, the two of you thinking it would be your last breaths. in some way, the miracle happened and the screeching demogorgons ran straight past the two of you, like you weren’t even there.
you remember looking up at his golden, brown eyes. being that close to him, you noticed how beautiful they actually are and finally understood how he has charmed every girl at school.
‘i guess it wouldn’t have been too bad dying in steve harrington’s arms.’ you thought to yourself.
brushing those thoughts away, you bask in the moment of solitude within the commotion that is taking place behind the bathroom door. everyone reunited here, checking up on each other.
“does it hurt?” you ask him as you gently pat the alcohol covered cotton pad around his eye, cleaning up the bits of red that have stained them.
he slightly winces, hoping you didn’t notice, “i’m fine, this isn’t my first rodeo,” he assures, sending you a wink before completely regretting the tiny action, a frown briskly replacing his smile, causing small chuckles to slip between your lips.
“you know, you should really stop getting into fights, i could’ve sworn you had a black eye just a year ago,” you remember it like it was yesterday - steve harrington walking the halls of hawkins high without his two minions for the first time, looking like he had fallen off his throne as the hushed whispers grew louder until they finally made its way throughout the school in a matter of minutes.
you could tell he wasn’t at all the person he was trying to be and for a second, you saw yourself in him. you wanted to get to know that steve. the steve that may understand you. but that second didn’t last long.
“so you were watchin me?” he teases, a smirk on his lips resulting in a playful shove and an eye roll from you.
gently grabbing his chin, you stare straight into his eyes, “of course i was. you’re steve harrington,” you remind him, “everyone watches you,” stating the facts before letting go and going back to removing all the dried up blood from his pretty face.
he clears his throat, shrugging his shoulders, playing it cool, “yeah, i guess you’re right,” he says dumbfoundedly, making you laugh.
“you’re ridiculous,” you quietly comment, a smile still on your lips. steve focuses on your light touches, trying not to wince every time you get near his open wounds. you notice his knuckles going white, gripping the toilet seat he was sitting on and ever so gently, hurried your actions.
“there, all clean,” you softly declare as you slip from his space, turning around and putting all mrs. byer’s first aid kit back into place. he quietly thanks you, leaning his head back a bit to rest, his eyes shutting for a second.
“thanks, by the way,” you break the silence “for protecting me earlier… with billy and all the upside down things,” you explain, looking at steve through the mirror. he nods, not entirely sure he’s deserving of your gratitude. you protected him as much as he protected you.
“is he always that violent with you?” steve asks, an eyebrow going up.
you immediately shake your head,  “no, he’s never laid a hand on me, i don’t know what came over him,” you say honestly.
“why billy hargrove?” he asks, causing you to pause your actions, paying attention to him.
“what do you mean?” you reply, turning around to face him once again, your back against the tiny kitchen sink.
“well, you didn’t leave dustin alone even though you just started babysitting him today, you care about having seatbelts on, you immediately covered up for max and just now, you took care of me when you should be taking care of yourself,” he points out, “you’re responsible and kind and you care and, well, billy is just a huge dick,” he finished, a hand flailing in the air as you stare at him, stunned at his observations.
you compose your thoughts for a while, not at all ready to have a heart to heart with steve harrington in a bathroom.
instead, you throw the question back at him, “why nancy wheeler?”
“you cannot possibly be comparing billy to nancy,” he replies quickly, a disapproving tone laced in his voice.
“i’m not,” you say defensively, “i’m just saying, she hurt you too but you’re still with her, you-”
“i-i don’t know if we’re actually still together,” he sadly replies, cutting you off, eyes dropping to the floor and you think back to the woods earlier that night — nancy emerging with jonathan right by her side.
“but you still love her,” you continue, “even though she’s hurt you, you still love her,” you finish, trying to make a point.
“so, you’re in love with billy?” he concludes.
you scoff, wanting to say yes and finally drop the subject but the mere thought of agreeing with that sentence makes you visibly wince.
“god no, i’ve been on a couple dates with the guy, it’s far from love,” earning an even more confused steve to face you.
“i don’t know if it’s because i got my brains punched out or i really am just dumb but i completely lost you there,” he admit, a tiny smile on his lips and all you could do is sigh.
heart to heart talk it is.
“you’re not dumb, i just-” taking a deep breath, you prepare yourself.
“we all have our own reasons why were with someone,” you begin, “i’m just so tired of the perfect good girl image that has been imposed on me, it's like people just see me as that and nothing else,” as soon as you start, the dam breaks, flowing.
you find yourself entrusting your deepest thoughts to him, “i can’t be fun because good girls aren’t supposed to be, i go to parties and people are confused that i'm there. you know, i even joined the cheerleading team so people can see me as something more? but all that does is fuel the assumption that i can do everything and still get shit done...that im not capable of mistakes and bad decisions. that i’ll turn out to be something great when really i’m just so damn scared all the time,” your voice breaks but before he could comment, you cleared your throat and continued.
“i guess being with him makes people finally see me out of my stereotype” you confess, waiting for him to say something. the silence becomes overbearing and you feel completely vulnerable under his gaze.
“oh,” steve responds, before bursting into laughter and you feel like a complete idiot, eyebrows shifting downward. god, you’re so ready to dramatically walk out of this bathroom and slam the door against his face but before you could do that, he notices.
“hey wait,” he says, gently grabbing your arm, asking you to stay as he arranges his thoughts.
“i’m sorry, i’m just relieved that you’re not actually in love with him because you deserve a lot better than billy hargrove,” he says charmingly, his cool facade still on display.
“i know,” you agree, stopping yourself from rolling your eyes, “is that all?” you ask, still annoyed.
“yeah,” steve starts, “i-no,” you give him time. you know that he’s having a war in his mind right now, the same one you just had.
he avoids your gaze, thinking to himself, until finally, he puts his defenses down, “i understand you,” he confesses.
“if it makes you feel better, it’s not at all greener on this side, i wished people looked at me less, i wish i didn’t have to go to all these parties just for people to respect me,” steve rattled on, feeling the weight fall off his shoulders with every word that falls off his lips, his facade disappearing bit by bit.
“i completely gave up on school because everyone has already expected me to fail and i started to believe them…it’s tiring having to pretend i’m this ‘king’ steve,” he quotes, “when really i am spiraling and have no fucking clue what i even want in life...i’ll probably just end up having a stupid job i hate and being as bitter as my father,” he sadly chuckles.
“i’m just as scared as you,” he ends with a small smile, eyes meeting yours. he feels lighter after having said it all out loud for the first time and he can’t quite comprehend how he feels so safe sharing his saddest truths with you.
but as you cast him a kind smile, the words “fuck stereotypes,” making its way to his ears, he can’t help but be thankful for the spilled truths and ajar doors.
steve mirrors your expression and you’re glad you finally got to meet him. not “playboy” steve harrington and definitely not steve “the king” harrington.
just steve.

His lips were locked against yours, his hands roaming your body as you laid back onto the bed beneath you. His woodsy cologne filled your brain with nothing else but him, intoxicating you even more. The more his skin touched yours the more you lost yourself. The night went on full dizzy in his embrace. The only reminder of your night together was the sweet dreams you had of his embrace.
And the two lines on the stick.
"Penelopeeee!" You dragged out her name, hoping she would ignore what she was doing and chat with you. You leaned against the door frame; two mugs full of hot tea in hand while you watched her type away at her computer. A small smile fell on your lips while you watched her head bounced as she danced along to the song she was humming.
"I'll be right with you, my love! Just one more minute... and done!" With one final click on the keyboard, her home screen popped up to a picture of the two of you and your adorable three-year-old son.
Penelope and you have been friends since you both started working for the F.B.I., she was your closest friend at work and out of work. You didn't work much together but you would occasionally help out on a few cases. You worked with a small group of people which didn't interact with anyone besides a few people, but Penelope always made sure you guys came out with her when she organized company functions, aka club nights. Which is how you ended up pregnant three years ago.
You weren't the type of girl for one-night stands or going clubbing. It was a stupid decision to get drunk and have a one-night stand, but they had given you the biggest blessings you could ask for. Work kept you busy and isolated, so meeting someone was out of the question but starting a family was something you had always wanted. You couldn't remember who you had slept with, just that he left a handkerchief behind with the initials SR engraved on it. You wouldn't tell Penelope what the initials were since you knew she would go to such lengths of trying to find him, but you had to figure he worked in the same building you did since most of the people attended worked with you. But you couldn't bring yourself to find out who he was.
"Is he almost here?"
"He should be in a few minutes, I gotta go down and get him from security." You handed her a mug, and she took a sip. "He's super excited and can't wait for everyone to see his costume."
It was Halloween and every year the F.B.I held a trick or treat party for the kids, and this was the first year that Percy, your son, was attending.
You both headed down to get Percy, teas in hand as you chatted. He cleared through security and ran into your arms, his little pumpkin pail discarded on the ground.
"Looks like we got a roller." You looked up to find a tall man grabbing the rolling pumpkin pail.
"Oh, thank you." He turned around and your mouth almost dropped opened. He looked just like your son.
"Spencer! I didn't know you were joining in on the celebration." Penelope exclaimed.
"Well Halloween is one of the best times of the year, plus JJ threatened me that I had to pass out candy this year." Spencer handed the pail to you, Percy's face still tucked into your chest. He smiled down at you then waved goodbye to Penelope before heading down the hall.
"Um, Penn... Who was that and why does he look like my son?"
She looked at you confused. "That's Dr. Spencer Reid. What are you talking about? They don't look the same."
"They look exactly alike!"
"I mean sure, they have some similar features but so does a lot of people." She shrugged and grabbed the reached-out hand that Percy gave her.
"I guess so..." You were unconvinced, but you shook it off when your son smiled up at you and waved his pumpkin pail around. You got up, and smiled back at him. "Lets get some candy, okay?"
Spencer looked down at the giant bowl of candy by his desk. The team had decorated the desks up and the meeting room upstairs had fun decorations for the kids to walk through. He never thought of passing out candy as fun but so far it hadn't been too bad. Penelope said she was going around with her friend from another department and her kid and to save some leftover candy for her but with how the bucket was looking, there might not be any left over.
He spotted Penelope's blonde hair peeking through the swarm of parents and kids along with the women he saw earlier. She was beautiful, and something about her seemed familiar but he couldn't figure it out which for him was irritating since he could always figure things out.
He saw them making their way over, stopping at each desk to collect candy. They finally made their way over to his desk, Penelope and the girl smiling down at the child who was hidden behind the line of kids at his desk. He looked up after a few kids and his heart caught in his throat.
The little boy looked just like him. But how, why?
The small boy smiled at him, giving out a trick or treat with a big smile, his brown curls bouncing as he raised the pumpkin pail up towards him, his body still frozen in shock. He quickly cleared his throat and gave a smile then poured some candy into the pail.
"I wike your costume. Look we have the same sonis!" The little boy waved his sonic screwdriver at Spencer, making Spencer laugh. They were both dressed as the 10th Doctor.
"I guess we do have matching ones!"
"Hey, Penelope. Can we talk?" It was a week after Halloween and Spencer finally caught Penelope alone.
"Sure, what can I do for ya?"
"W-who was that with you a few days ago for the trick or treating?"
"Oh, that was my best friend, Y/N, she works a few floors down."
"And the child with her?"
"Her son Percy, he's three years old. Why do you want to know?"
"She just looks like the girl I met at that night out at the club you dragged us to. And the child... well he looks like me." He sat down and Penelope looked at him with worry as his face went pale. "I can't help but think she was the one I had spent that night with... I was so intoxicated but she- well she looks like her... and maybe perhaps, Percy is mine." He ran a hand through his hair and sighed.
Oh, Spence... I think you two should talk." Spencer nodded.
The coffee shop was loud, but it didn't seem to mind Percy as he sat there colouring. Since Halloween all you've thought about was him, how he looked like Percy, how he smelled of the same cologne that the man in your dreams did. You couldn't shake it off that he could possibly be the father, and neither could he, you've come to find out.
He had found you a week ago at your desk. At first, he was nervous, rambling about all the probabilities and their known percentages on how he could be the father. You had stopped him right off, giving him the dates of which everything happened. After that, he had calmed down a little, but it wasn't until you suggested a paternity test to ease his mind was when he totally calmed down, which you assumed that he was just in shock.
You had the paternity test done a few days later and Spencer wanted to meet at a coffee shop to go over the findings together. You were slightly freaking out. You knew you would be fine if it wasn't him, you had done three years alone without a man but what do you do if it was him? You didn't know him at all, besides physically. Would he try to take Percy away? Would he want nothing to do with you if you did find out Percy was his? You couldn't stop your mind from running wild.
You saw Spencer's curly head heading your way with drinks in hand. He sat down two lemonades in front of you and Percy and a coffee for himself. He sat down and pulled out a manilla envelope from his bag. "Are you ready?"
You nodded your head and pulled Percy onto your lap.
Spencer opened up the envelope and pulled out the stack of papers his hands shaking. "Here you read it, I read too fast."
You looked at him confused but grabbed the stack of papers he handed you. Taking a deep breath, you read what was in front of you, looking at him once you were done. "You're the father."

Chapter Two of Save Me
Previous Chapters: one
Word Count: 3.7k
Pairing: Spencer Reid x Female Reader
Summary: You and your team at the BAU come to the disturbing realization that you're the final target of a brutal serial killer. Without any leads, your team determines you need to be the one to draw him out. As you sit alone in your apartment for hours, on edge, you can't help but want your coworker, Spencer, to be there with you. But, is your little crush enough to get you through the upcoming torture?
Warnings: Mentions guns, sexual assault, murder, serial killer, torture, stalking, physical harm, kidnapping, fear. In future parts, will mention vivid torture, PinV, oral, domxsub situations, grief, bondage, physical harm, etc.
A/N: I'm actually enjoying writing this soo much. I hope you all are enjoying reading it! I'm going to write the next chapter in both (y/n) POV and Spencer's POV, so I'll probably post both at the same time!
Tumblr media
YOU CAN'T HELP BUT fidget in your seat at the round table as the rest of the team takes their seats and waits for Hotch's word to begin. You couldn't bring yourself to be in the same room as them as they discussed different ways for you to lure him out, unable to listen and play out those possible scenarios out in your head. Spencer at first fought against your wishes for him to discuss with the team, but all you could do was look into his sad eyes with yours and tell him, "I need someone who is going to fight for me. I trust that you will know when enough is enough." He stopped fighting then and did as you requested.
He was the first to arrive back at the round table, immediately taking the seat next to yours, not even hesitating to give you his hand. You took it greedily, needing any kind of human contact to keep your mind grounded, bonus points because it was him.
"Let's get started." Hotch announced, and you noticed that no one would meet your gaze directly as your eyes wandered to your friends around the table. Your heart sank into your stomach and you had a feeling the discussion they had was a hard one. You can't imagine it being easy for your friends to discuss the best way to capture a brutal serial killer by using your life without actually endangering it.
"(Y/), tonight you're going to go home as normal. We have to assume he watches your every move so he cannot know that we're aware of you being his final target. We obviously will not leave you unguarded, Rossi and I will sit down the street from your apartment, Morgan and Reid will sit in the back of the parking lot so they can see anyone who exits and enters. If he's not bold enough to do anything tonight, we will simulate a day of errands for you, each of us posted where you go."
A chill runs down your spine. It's hard to believe you're about to be sent home and expected to act completely normal. To sit in your apartment alone, just waiting for him to try to break down your door or draw you out.
"You'll let me know every hour how you're doing and call Morgan or Reid if you notice anything since they'll be closest. If it makes you feel more comfortable, we can send someone ahead of you to replace your apartment security guard so someone with a little more training is there."
"Yes, please. I think that'll help." You almost whine. The more you sit here, the less you want this conversation to end because you want to avoid going home at absolutely all costs right now. You know you can't push it off forever or else you risk other women's lives. Before the meeting ends, JJ meets your eyes. "I promise you, we will find him."
"We're going to get this sick son of a bitch," Morgan adds. The rest of the team chimes in and you feel grateful to being going through this with a support system by your side. It makes the tight knot in your stomach loosen a little, realizing that you know you're safe with them. You know your entire team would stay up for days on end to catch this guy, and wouldn't allow themselves a moment of relaxation knowing you're unable to sleep or feel safe in your own home.
Hotch sends an agent to your apartment before you to simulate security guards changing shifts. You hope this will be enough, but something deep in your stomach twists anyway.
Before Reid leaves with Morgan to get to your apartment before you, he pulls you into the kitchen - a public place, but with enough cover to make your body heat. The thought of getting caught doing something scandalous sends a shiver up your spine but you quickly chastise yourself. Your life is in danger, now is not the time for fantasies.
"Can I ask you to do something for me?" He asks softly, his face looks battered from stress and you're sure you look the same. "Of course."
"Can you text me too? To let me know you're safe."
"Of course I will." You try to give him your best smile, but it falls flat. His care is warming, but it's hard to feel anything other than absolute fear at the moment.
"You're going to be okay," he promises. He abruptly pulls you into an embrace and you waste no time relaxing into his chest. He smells of almond and lavender. You take a deep breath, trying to memorize the smell of him. Your embrace ends too quickly and he leaves you standing alone in the kitchen.
Tumblr media
After a torturous drive home, you pull into the parking lot of your apartment. You quickly scan your surroundings, making sure to wait an extra moment before exiting the car to see if another car pulls in. You spot the car Reid described to you sitting in the corner in the back of the parking lot and you let out a relieved sigh. This whole situation is terrifying and ridiculous all at once. You remember Hotch's words and get out of your car, trying your best to act as if you aren't completely afraid for your life and you're not about to spend the entire night rechecking your door and window locks, making sure all your hidden guns are reachable and in place.
You pass the agent posed as a security guard and trying not to draw attention to yourself as you head down the left hall towards the elevator to your apartment. You would be out of your complete mind to take the stairs in this situation, but you're unsure if an elevator might actually be worse if he were to randomly enter it.
The elevator stops with a jolt and opens on your floor. You take a cautious peak out and check down the hallway left and right before exiting. You quickly make it to your apartment door, looking back to make sure there's no one in the hallway. If you're lucky, he might not know what exact apartment you live in, but then you realize with despair that if he's been watching you for however long, he could have easily seen you enter and exit your apartment multiple times.
You fumble with your keys as you try not to act panicked and open your door. You swiftly enter and lock it immediately behind you, making sure to lock the deadbolt and put the chain on as well. You loose a deep sigh and your eyes widen at the fact that you still might not be safe yet. You didn't even think about the fact that you'd have to check your apartment when you got here to make sure he wasn't already waiting for you.
You quietly pull the gun from the holster on your side and slowly work through your apartment, turning on every light and lamp possible, locking every single window you walk past, checking inside your bedroom closet, the kitchen pantry, the small storage closet just outside your bedroom, and even behind the shower curtain. Once you've decided that there's no possible place for him to hide, you finally feel your muscles relax. You place your gun back in your holster, unable to feel safe without it by your side.
You grab yourself a glass of water and some snacks and decide to stay in the living room. You're able to keep an eye on the door and balcony simultaneously. You don't risk turning the TV on or listening to music to relax you. You need to be at complete high alert until your team catches this son of a bitch.
Time goes by agonizingly slow as you try to keep yourself awake and entertained. A full pot of coffee sits on the counter for you to refill as the night goes on, although you're unsure if you'll even need it. The fear is enough to keep your blood pumping hard through you. You try to play card games with yourself and practice some card tricks Spencer taught you when you first joined the Bureau.
You aren't able to keep your attention on one task for too long, your fear pulling your eyes to scan every inch of the room. You decide to risk sneaking a peak through your balcony curtains. You look out from the side, just barely moving the fabric over so no one would notice a disturbance in the curtains from the outside. After deciding the coast is clear, you recheck the balcony door lock and do a walk through of your apartment once again, checking locks, hiding spots, your gun always close by.
The first hour passes and when your phone buzzes it just about makes you jump completely out of your skin. You reach into your pocket to pull it out and quickly read a text from Hotch, asking for an update. You reply to let him know that everything's normal so far, all possible access points are locked and you've gone through your entire apartment in intense detail.
You remember the promise you made Spencer and text him as well, basically explaining the same thing you told Hotch.
Me: im scared spence
Spencer: I know, that's okay. You're brave, remember?
Me: im trying really hard to be. i can't even turn on the TV or focus on anything long enough without getting worried im going to miss something and he's going to catch me off guard.
Spencer: You're the strongest person I know, don't let him control you. These offenders love control and making you feel helpless.
Me: he is controlling me though. i cant even imagine sleeping, im jumping at every car door being shut, every car horn from the street, every bug at my window. even if we catch him, will the fear ever go away?
The text bubble appears and disappears a few times. You start to wonder if maybe something happened, if they caught someone trying to get into your building when your phone buzzes in your hands.
Spencer: I think we both know the statistics. But, I promise that I will do everything I can do ease the fear and be there for you when it's too much.
You begin to get teary eyed at his promise. Never in your life have you felt cared for or protected. It was always kill or be killed and you fought for your life since you were a child, just trying to survive in a world destined to chew you up and swallow you.
Me: thank you spence. that means more to me than i think you'll ever understand. you mean more to me than you'll ever understand.
You set your phone down on the table next to you, feeling jittery after sending that text. You deleted it and rewrote it about 5 times, but if your life is in danger, why hold back? You also think about how he might try to profile you and believe you're forming an attachment to him due to trauma bonding or transference.
You let out an aggravated sigh and rub your face with your hands. This has complicated your life in just about every way possible and you promise yourself that if you ever get your hands on the man that feels like he can make you cower away, locked in your apartment, you'll make him regret it.
I pick my phone back up and when I see Spencer hasn't replied, I text again.
Me: have you guys seen or learned anything?
Spencer: Not yet. Few people have walked into the building but we're not legally allowed to deny people the right into their homes. You live on the third floor so hopefully that should deter him from your apartment.
Me: hope so. im not sure i could ever come back here and live my life without fear if he chooses here.
Spencer: That's understandable. I don't think he's prepared for his endgame just yet. But I'm also not sure he is disorganized enough to attempt to attack you in broad daylight in a public place like the grocery store.
Me: he abducted those other women in broad daylight in high traffic areas though and no one saw a thing.
Spencer: (Y/n), you're a federal agent. If he has an IQ that's at least half of mine, he would need extra planning. A damn good rouse to lure you away and that's only if he's confident we have no idea you're his target. Don't worry, okay? We will stay here all night for you.
Me: thank you..it helps to know you are here. i don't feel alone in this.
Spencer: You're never alone. Never again, (y/n).
Spencer: As much as I want to keep talking to you to make sure you're safe, I think it's best you focus on your surroundings. Deep breathing exercises actually trick your brain into thinking that you're relaxed and takes your body out of flight or fight.
Me: are those drs orders?
Spencer: Yes, now be a good girl and relax.
Your breath catches in your throat with his last text. It takes you aback at the pure brashness of it, something you weren't sure he was even capable of doing.
You do as commanded and you allow yourself to pull your legs up onto the couch, despite the impracticality of it in the sick chance he breaks into your apartment. You try your hardest to do breathing exercises you found on Google.
You are slightly surprised when your body begins to relax a bit and you feel less at edge. You don't allow yourself to completely let down your guard, but you welcome the slight relaxation of your muscles at least.
Minutes turn to hours and if you didn't have your phone to check the time, you would have thought days were passing by. All you've been able to do is stare at the ceiling when you're not making your routine patrols around your apartment. You feel as if you're starting to get a bit stir crazy.
You check in hourly with Hotch and Spencer, not allowing yourself too much of a distraction. But, as the hours tick by, your eyelids get heavier and heavier. You begin to lower your vigilant wall the tiniest bit. If he wanted to attack here wouldn't he have done so by now?
Me: im so tired.
Spencer: It's okay to sleep. It's highly recommended by every doctor, including me.
Me: alright smart ass. do you think he would've already tried something by now? the suns about to come up and it's been almost 12 hours.
Spencer: Go to bed. None of us are going to sleep so you're safe. You've been through a lot, you deserve some rest, even if it's just an hour.
Me: i guess youre right. ive got all my locks in place anyway and i guess i would probably hear if any glass broke but i dont know how anyone would expect to take an entire grown woman down 3 levels without risking being seen by using the stairs.
Spencer: You don't need to justify sleeping to me. You deserve the rest, no matter what. No justification needed.
Me: Thank you, Spence. ♡
Spencer: ♡
Still a bit weary, you decide to check the balcony and do your patrol once more before you allow yourself to relax. After determining the coast is clear, you decide to finally retire to your bedroom. You unhook your gun holster and lay it on your nightstand, making sure to keep it in reach in case.
You don't even bother changing out of your clothes as you finally climb into bed. You let out a small moan of relief and sleep consumes you almost instantly.
Tumblr media
You're taken out of your sleep by a loud thud, confusion overtaking you for a few moments as you blink rapidly around the room, attempting to adjust your eyes to the daylight. You're frozen in fear as your vision clears and there's a gun pointed right to your face.
The man holding the gun is in a regular hoodie and jeans, seemingly normal. You reel your terror back as you hold your hands up in surrender, attempting to make him believe you're willing to do as he pleases in hopes he makes a mistake.
You eye the time on the clock on your nightstand, if you can only distract him for a little bit longer, Hotch will call you when he realizes you aren't replying to his hourly check in and they'll come up here and save your ass.
All your able to do is stare at your attacker and stay completely still. You rack your brain for the best possible thing to say to get him to deescalate or at least lower the gun. "What's your name?"
"My name?" He questions, tilting his head to the side. You thought he might be put back by the question, instead he seems to have gained a confidence your profile suggested he was close to growing into. You suppose he must have had some new found confidence to be able to sneak past multiple undercover agents, and into a room on third floor with all doors and windows locked. He makes no move to lower the gun and no attempt to answer your question.
"How did you get in?" You ask as calmly as possible, hoping he made a mistake that way at least. Maybe your team was already outside, discussing how to play it to where he surrenders. You realize your luck as probably fallen short at the way a wicked smile spreads across his face.
"Do you not want to talk?" You try again. The blog posts he made about you play over in your head. You're hoping he takes the bait.
"Don't you think it's a little late to talk?" The gun stays unwavering in your face.
"What do you mean?"
The smile falls from his face and if you were in a cartoon, you can almost bet smoke would come out of his ears.
"What do I mean? You know what I mean!" He roars, shaking the gun angrily around. You decide to take this as your opportunity now that the gun isn't pointing towards you.
You release your leg from under the covers and kick as hard as you can muster into his abdomen. He reels back and you stumble out of bed and attempt to retrieve the gun on your nightstand when you realize it's no longer there. You spin around in time for his fist to connect with your jaw, knocking you off your feet, your knees barking as they connect with the hardwood.
You sweep out his legs from under him, sending him to the floor along with you. You spot his gun laying on your bedroom floor, right next your dresser, which unfortunately, he is right in front of. Before you can think to hesitate, you're up on your feet and lunging for the gun.
Before you're able to reach it, he grabs you by the collar of your shirt and swings you around and slams you into the wall. The breath clears your lungs and all you can do is fall to the ground on once more.
Blood from somewhere, you assume your face, drips onto the polished floor below you. You attempt to play the defeated victim, hoping it draws him close enough for you to catch him by surprise.
His heavy feet slam against your floorboards until he is right in front of you, gun completely abandoned on the floor. He grips your neck with a strong hand and lifts you to your feet. When he brings your face to his, you spit blood into his eye, causing him to drop you.
You use the few moments you gave yourself to at least make it out of your bedroom, grab a knife or one of your hidden guns, anything to give you the upper hand against a man twice your size and strength.
"Bitch!" He roars, wiping furiously at his eyes as you scramble with the door to your bedroom. You swing it open and lunge towards the closet gun you can think of when you see the open compartment, your gun missing from it.
"You think I don't know every single detail about your life, (y/n)?" He laughs from behind you as you're frozen in the middle of your living room. "I've been waiting for a long time, (y/n). Do you like the presents I left you? I figured I'd show you what I would do to you."
"You have an odd perception of the word present." You deadpan. You scramble to come up with a solution. All your guns are gone, if you run to the kitchen you better hope to hell he doesn't shoot you first or get there before you. "What do you want?"
"You." He smiles, and before you can react he's on you again. As you fight tooth and nail against his raging grasp, you hear your phone begin to ring. You allow hope to bubble in your chest, just a few more minutes, you say to yourself. They'll save me.
When you finally think you have the upper hand on him, he lands a fist to your temple that throws you to the carpet. Your vision spins as you attempt to crawl anywhere but where he is. You feel his laugh in your bones and you can tell he is taking his time taking in his win and the power it gives him. Your sight becomes blurry and you fight as hard as you can against it. But, all you seem to have the strength for is to watch blood spill from your mouth and the wounds on your face, onto the carpet of your living room. You gather enough strength to at least look your attacker in the face and deny him as much of the power he craves as you can. "I'm not afraid of you," you whisper. Your throat feels tight, and it's almost impossible to swallow. You spit blood onto your carpet as you try to relieve the pressure in your throat.
"You should be," is the last thing you hear before you see his boot come down towards your head and the world turns black.

*Slides into the ask box*
Brief question here for you today, but did Ghost decide to ask Price's permission to marry Goose? I can see him wanting to do everything by the book and traditionally, but I can also see him respecting that Goose is her own woman and can make that decision for herself.
Ghost did ask permission in his own way! I like to think it was more important to Ghost than Goose to get the captain’s permission. For Ghost, Price is not just his captain, he's as close to a father figure as he can get, and past that Price is the person that dragged him back from the edge every time he walked too close. And, well, I'll just let you read it.
“You cannot be this scared of my daddy,” You cross your arms over your chest, watching Simon fuss with his boots by the door. He gives you a stern glare, and tugs his mask up to cover his face. You roll your eyes, “You served under him, isn’t this easier than tellin’ him a mission went sideways?”
Simon grunts, his way of saying he doesn’t want to talk about this. You’ll have to tell your dad eventually that you’re getting engaged, it’s not like he can find out at the wedding. Simon isn’t asking for your hand or anything, more getting your folks' blessing.
“That’ll do,” He grumbles and you throw your arms up. Christ you cannot be the one to tell your dad. As much as you think he’s warmed up to you and Simon dating you don’t think he’s exactly entertained the idea that Simon might become his son-in-law. If you tell your dad you’ll feel like you’re asking permission to marry Simon. That's not how you want to start your engagement. Simon catches your hand before you can start really working yourself up.
“This is important to me,” You tell him.
“I know,” His thumb rubs the back of your hand, soothing, “I’ll tell him.”
(Several months earlier)
“I’m gonna marry your daughter,” Ghost tells Price as they watch cattle file past. The sun is high in the sky, the horses are comfortably docile, and cicadas whirr loudly from the nearby trees. Price lowers his cigar between two careful fingers, eyes tracking the herd. He taps the ash against his boot to keep it away from the horse and off the grass. The air is still as both men seem to wait on the other.
“Goose know that?” Price asks finally. He knows as well as anyone that Ghost doesn’t make decisions lightly, and that once he does he isn’t likely to change his mind. More importantly he knows the man hardly thinks he’s worth being called human, let alone thinks about things like love and marriage.
“No,” Ghost tugs a cigarette box from his pocket and pulls one free with his teeth. Price sniffs, nudges his horse forward with his heels against its side, leaving Ghost to light his cigarette before he follows. It’s a beautiful day. The sort of day people paint when they don’t have a picture, clear blue skies and the wind rippling through the grass. Quiet too, y’know if you don’t count the bugs.
“So why’re you tellin’ me? Take it up with her.” Price spares him a glance as Ghost catches up, their horses meandering after the cows at a respectable distance. Ghost lowers his cigarette, exhaling smoke before pulling it back between his teeth.
“Because if you tell me not to, I won’t.” It’s the even honesty that makes Price pause. Ghost’s a good soldier, ruthless, efficient, fully tactically aware of his role as an instrument of violence. Some part of Price blames himself for that, for not doing enough to save Simon from compartmentalizing his humanity away after everything, for pushing Ghost to be the tool he needed him to be to take down the bad guys.
He doesn’t have to say anything more than that. If Price gives the order he’ll obey, even if it hurts you. Always a good soldier. He can’t do that to him, can’t do that to you. Not when he sees so much of himself in Ghost: the anger, the need for something(anything) to be right. That’s why he’d offered him a position at the farm in the first place.
“You’re a better man than you think you are Simon,” Price says finally, he powers through the questioning ‘Sir?’ from Ghost, “You make my girl happy, and if she heard you say that she’d tan your hide faster than any AQ could.”
“She would,” Ghost says with a touch of fondness in his tone.
“I trust her judgment, you just tell me if she says yes,” Price takes a long drag of his cigar, enjoying the fullness of smoke in his lungs before he lets it flow free with his exhale, “How’re the nightmares?”
Ghost is quiet for a long time, long enough Price wonders if he might’ve overstepped. There’s a long exhale, before Ghost answers. “Better with her.”
Price nods, “They always are.”
(Present)
“Goose said yes.” Ghost rolls a cigarette between his fingers, careful to compensate for the movement of the horse so he doesn’t lose the loose tobacco. Price sighs from his right. The wildflowers are starting to peak up through the grass. The ones the cows haven’t eaten are even blooming. Gaz is off corralling the cattle that’ve wandered too far from the herd, it’s a good time to talk if they want privacy.
“About damn time,” Price says after a moment, “Thought Goose was gonna drag your ass to the courthouse.”
“Sir?” Ghost looks up quickly from his work, his surprise nearly startling his horse.
"How long were you plannin' on pretendin' you weren't part of this family?" It's an honest question but it cuts deeper than Ghost had expected. Deep enough he doesn't fault Price the gentler tone he uses to ask it.
"Haven't even married 'er yet," Ghost grumbles.
"Know that's not what I'm talkin' about," Price leans back in his saddle, making himself as comfortable as he can watching the pasture, "'M proud of you son, don't make me hafta tell you that again."
Simon frowns to stop himself from making any other expression, and tugs his mask a little higher up his nose. It's a beautiful day, it would be a shame to ruin it by saying something stupid, or getting worked up over nothing.

DCXDP PROMPT
Your Father's Son
Isn't it unfortunate how no matter how hard you try to stop something, all you really do is prolong the enviable?
Danny stopped Dan from killing all his friends and family. He took the lesson Clockwork was trying to teach him to heart and believed that the worst had passed. True there were other problems. Other crises that he gave his attention to.
But even still the event at the Nasty Burger would always linger as a reminder of how truly grateful he was to have each and every one of them in his life.
So it came as a shock to him when the Nasty Burger blew up into smithereens right in front of him for the second time in his life. This time however was different.
He stood less than a block away from the blast. Nocked back, his head hit something hard and then everything was nothing but white noise as everything went black for him.
---------
This event could officially go down as the worst way Bruce found out he had a child.
He was enjoying a quiet Sunday afternoon with his family when he got a call. It was social services and what they had to say both shocked and saddened him to his very soul.
After the call ended he felt numb. He wasn’t sure how to feel at that time. So many emotions wreaked havoc in his mind that he didn’t know what to do with himself.
That was till Dick knocked on his door asking about the call. He knew then that he had to tell his kids. No matter what he did next he had to inform them of the situation.
So he sat them down, all of them listening with various degrees of surprise as he told them he had another son. They don't get a chance to comment though as Bruce continued speaking. The explanation getting worse and worse with each word spoken.
His son, Danny; he told them. Had been the only survivor of a horrific accident where he had witnessed all his family die. As if witnessing the event wasn't bad enough. He was now in a comma.
A comma he had been in for over a month! A MONTH! They had the information needed to contact him and they chose over a MONTH AFTER the event to notify him.
That wasn’t even the end of it. The only reason they called him at all was to get his consent to pull the plug on Danny. They wanted Bruce to pull a child he didn't even know he had off of life support.
The Bat Family were shocked. They were pissed. Most importantly, they wanted to see him. To save him if they could. Help wherever they can for him. Even if it ment giving him an organ.
(Tim- I might not have a pancreas anymore but I'll gladly give him a kidney if I can.)
Bruce just smiled at them. Telling them through unshed tears to pack a bag. They were going to see him. And they were going to help him. They'll be damned if they let another brother/son die that’s a promise!
-----------
So here is what I can see happening. They get to Amity Park and see Danny hooked up to all those monitors and immediately wondered in their sadness, just how could this happen?
They all go into detective mode and begin investigating. With the exception of one of them that decided to start a watch. That way if Danny woke up then he'll have someone there for him.
So the Bats begin investigating but hit walls at almost every turn. It was as if someone powerful and high up was trying to bury the incident. Make it as if it never happened in the first place.
During all this Danny finally wakes up. He remembers what happened instantly and as doctors try to calm him down the person left behind to stay with him calls everyone. They're relieved and make it back to the hospital.
Only Danny has disappeared. They don't know where he went or how. The doctors are confused and the Bat they left with him was only gone long enough to make the call and grab a coffee/snack.
The entire hospital is looking for Danny but Bruce has a feeling that they won't find him.
Meanwhile, Danny was staggering his way through alleyways trying to get back to Fenton Works. He knows his family and friends are dead. There was no denying what he saw.
But that wasn't the only thing he saw. There was no way he could of mistaken the stark white vans that had been parked just outside the NB just moments before the blast.
Somehow, in some way, the GIW was responsible for their deaths. And he was going to provide it. Mom and Dad, Jazz, Sam, and Tucker will have justice. He just needs to get back home a grab a few things first.

New Sheriff in Town
Tumblr media
Requested by @louxbloom
Wanda Maximoff x GN! Reader/ Past Wanda Maximoff x Vision
Warnings: Angst. Fluff.
18+ MINORS DNI
Wanda and Vision were high school sweethearts, everything seemed perfect until she fell pregnant before graduating. Vision proposed to her as soon as he found out which Wanda had said yes.
It all seemed fairytale like as the years went on, Wanda being the stay at home mom as Vision went to work with his uncle at Stark Industries to provide for his family. As much as Wanda loved being a mom to her sons, she hated being home alone. Living the same day, same routine over and over again.
As the years went on, Vision had started to treat Wanda as a maid and not his wife, the twins soon caught on and started to treat her the same as their father did. As much as it broke Wanda's heart, she couldn't leave. Even though her friend's Natasha and Agatha would tell her otherwise. She had an obligation to be there for her family. That is what she was taught the perfect wife was.
That was until Vision had handed her divorce papers as he packed his things. Leaving her to raise two teen boys as he moved in with the 20 year old twinkie in the city. The twins had blamed Wanda for him leaving and never really cut her any slack. Wanda would also find herself crying herself to sleep every night. Wondering at what point her life had took a turn.
But with two 15 year old boys, running amuck throughout Westview. Especially being just as entitled as their father, always causing noise and destruction wherever they go. Only to be yelled at by Wanda before the two would make her cry.
A new resident had moved in ane joined the local Sheriff's department. Well they were the new Sheriff. When they saw the two yelling at Wanda, blaming her for their father not wanting anything to do with them.
"Hey!" Their voice boomed, causing the three to look in their direction. "I suggest you boys show your mother some respect."
"What are you going to do about it?" Tommy sneered as the twins crossed their arms across their chests.
"If I catch you boys doing anything out of line, I can have you arrested." They told them sternly.
"What? You gonna call the police?" Billy teased as Tommy laughed. They sighed as they got their badge out.
"I am the new Sheriff so I suggest you start to respect your mom." They told the two sternly. "Also, if I catch either of you vandalising any property, that includes your mom's house, I will put you in handcuffs. Do you understand me?" The two just nodded before walking inside as Wanda approached Y/N.
"Thank you. I'm Wanda." She introduced herself.
"Y/N." They shook her hand. "Well it was nice to meet you but I have to get to the station." Wanda waved nervously as she watched them walk away.
As the time went on, Y/N had found Tommy drinking in the park. So they approached him with a soft smile on their face.
"Hey, you're Wanda's son right?" They questioned as Tommy just scoffed before having another big sip. "You know you can talk to me."
"About what?!" Tommy spat. "How my dad left us and we've blamed mom all the time for it. Especially seeing him with his new wife and kid."
"Listen, I understand how hard it can be to have a parent give up on you." They told him. "But your mom is still here. She is still looking after you and your brother. You just need to give her a chance. It isn't her fault your dad quit on you guys. That's all on him so please just cut her some slack. Talk with Billy too. She deserves better than the crap you two have given her."
"I'm sorry." Tommy cried as Y/N put a reassuring hand on his shoulder.
"Save that apology for your mom and do it sober." They told him before standing up. "Come on, I'll give you a ride home." That was the first time that Tommy had felt extremely bad for how he had treated his mom. He hated himself and he hated his dad.
Once Y/N had pulled up outside of the Maximoff residence, Wanda came running out, worry etched onto her features as Y/N helped Tommy out of the car.
"Is he ok?" She asked them as they helped him inside.
"He's just drunk." They told her when they lay him on the sofa to sleep. "He's going to have one killer headache in the morning."
"Thank you." Wanda told them sincerely as she walked them out.
"It's no problem. They have been served a bad hand. The three of you have." Y/N told her softly as she smiled. "I will help keep my eye on them outside of these walls but the rest is on you Maximoff." They told her as she nodded. Watching as they left once more, this time admiring their form in their uniform.
As the time went on, the twins were better than before with Wanda. Doing chores without being asked and even making her drinks.
"I honestly don't know what has happened but it feels like something out of a horror movie." She whispered to Nat as the two stood on the porch, watching the twins mow the lawn and wash the car.
"I know what you mean. It's kind of like an alien invasion." She replied as Wanda nodded. It wasn't until they saw Y/N doing their rounds. Wanda noted that they weren't in their uniform as they stopped and spoke with the twins. "Or maybe a new person has something to do with it." Nat soon noticed how Wanda was silent as she watched Y/N and the boys laugh about something. "You like them." Nat pointed out as Wanda snapped her head in her friend's direction.
"No." She laughed as Nat smirked.
"Yes you do." She told her. "It's ok to want to move on Wanda."
"I know that but the twins have just stopped hating me." She told her. "If I change something it could ruin it."
As the year went on, Wanda had organised a BBQ for the twins birthday. Inviting their friends and family, Y/N had come with some gifts for the twins. Tickets to see their favourite team play the next game. It wasn't until Vision walked inside like he still owned the house.
"Vision? What are you doing here?" Wanda questioned as Vision smirked.
"I came to wish my boys a happy birthday and give them their present." He said as he waved a set of keys in her face.
"Please leave." She spoke shakily as the twins soon noticed the commotion. Y/N's gaze followed theirs as they soon moved to Wanda.
"She said to leave." Tommy stated as he stood beside Wanda.
"You will speak to your father with respect." He spat at him angrily.
"When you see him, let me know." Tommy smirked as Billy held his mom as she cried. All of her anger, pain and sadness coming back ten fold. It was when Vision was about the back hand Tommy across the face Y/N had stepped in.
"I suggest you leave." They told him as they gripped his wrist tightly.
"Fuck you." Vision spat before taking a swing at Tommy with his other hand. Y/N getting in the way and receiving a jab to the jaw.
"I won't ask again." They snarled as they towered over him. "Leave now or I'll have you arrested for trespassing."
"Whatever." He snarled before turning on his heels and leaving the house. Y/N soon got on their phone to a locksmith.
"The locksmith is coming tomorrow." They told Wanda who soon wrapped her arms around them. They were shocked at the action but reciprocated the hug regardless.
"Thank you." Wanda whispered before she kissed their cheek. The party continuing as Vision had never came. The twins barely left Wanda's side as everyone soon started to leave.
"Y/N." Wanda called out before Y/N got into their car.
"Are you ok?" They asked her as she nodded, not expecting her to wrap her arms around their neck and kissed them passionately. Y/N sunk into the kiss as she deepened it. When she pulled away, they watched dumbfounded as she walked back inside. A smile on her lips.

Hi can you write angst Rúben finding you sick because of your pregnancy in the bathroom after an away game, he's panicking and take care of you for the rest of the night
Love this! Switched it up a lil bit.
Ruben Dias x Reader - Here For You
Tumblr media
Enjoy!
You were pregnant with your second child, and Ruben had been the epitome of support and care for you throughout the entire journey. He had been there for every prenatal appointment, had endured the late-night cravings and mood swings, and had even renovated his office so that you could work from home and focus on your growing family.
One day though, when Ruben came home from training, he was greeted by a scene that made his heart race with panic. You were lying on the bathroom floor, clutching your stomach and gasping for breath. Your face was crunched up with discomfort and your eyes were glassy with fear.
"Y/N, what's wrong?" Ruben shouted, dropping his gym bag and rushing to your side. "Are you okay?"
You tried to speak, but your voice was barely above a whisper. "I don't know," you managed to say. "I just feel so sick. I've been vomiting all day."
Ruben's mind raced with worst-case scenarios, but he knew he needed to stay calm. "Should I call the paramedics?" He asked, a hand rubbing your back.
"No. I think it's normal. I'll be fine. Just help me get off the floor."
You had barley finished the sentence before being cradled into Ruben's strong arms. He brought you to your bedroom, setting you down on the bed.
"I'll be right back." He reassured.
You knew what he was going to do. He was going to call the school your son went to. You were supposed to pick him up an hour ago, however, with your aches, you hadn't made it out of the front door.
Nevertheless, your son was picked by one of Ruben's friends who's daughter went to the same school.
You had managed to drift off to sleep when a small set of hands patted your face.
"Hey, mommy needs to rest." Ruben said, catching your son next to you in bed, trying to get your attention.
"It's okay." You smiled and invited your son to lay under the covers with you. You were feeling much better now that you had gotten some rest.
"Is the baby sick too?" Your son asked, his small hands roaming your pregnant belly.
"No, the baby is fine." You ran a hand through his locks. "How was school honey?"
"Okay. Uncle John picked me up."
"He did?"
You looked to Ruben who stood watching you in the door frame.
"Remind me to call and thank him." You said.
"No need. John was glad to help."
Still, you couldn't help but to feel guilty for being such a trouble when pregnant.
"Come on son, time to get you washed up and ready for dinner." Ruben took care of most of them chores that night. He left you to stay in bed whilst he took care of dinner, helped your son with his homework and eventually put him to bed.
He returned to you in bed once the house was quiet and all the lights were off.
"What?" You asked, as Ruben had crawled into bed without saying a word, just grabbing a hold of your hands and pressing them to his face and his lips.
"I was so scared when I found you in the bathroom like that." Ruben pressed soft kisses to your fingertips. You ran your free hand through his hair.
"I'm sorry you had to see me like that, but I promise you, I'm all good now."
Ruben shook his head. "I know, I know. I was just....so scared."
There was more to it than that, you could tell. "What is it baby?"
Ruben lifted his head to meet your eyes, reavilng that his eyes were glossy with tears. "I don't know what I would have done if I lost you." He said, voice thick.
"Oh, baby..." You pulled him into your embrace, letting his weight press you down against the matress. "You will never lose me." You said, your hands cupping his face.
"Us." He muttered.
"What?"
"Lose us." He corrected, a hand slipping under your shirt, stroking the crease of your belly.
You smiled and nodded. "That's right, you'll never lose us."
Ruben's head dropped to your lips, kissing you hard. You kissed him back with equal amount of passion, reminding yourself how greatful you were for your family.

wordless apology being accepted
pretty pls need this with sidney, can be coach!sidney or not, whatever you wanna do 💞
february prompts | coach!sidney x fem!reader
remember how y'all said you wanted the angst....yeah...
Tumblr media
"hey, ryan's doing great in practice. he is the best kid a coach could ask for, really," sidney gave his players parents praise in the stands. it was thirty minutes until puck drop. occasionally before games sidney would go up in the bleachers and talk to parents while he could. he wanted to keep the relationship with his player's parent's strong, knowing that he was for their kids just as much as they were.
he sat next to y/n right before going back down to the bench on the ice. his hand subtly rested on her thigh as he listened to you talk about all you did that day, the parent meetings after class. he wished that he had time to actually talk to her, had time to sit with y/n and hear her go into more detail. but mid season he has to find a little bit of time to sit with her where he can.
"carter's getting better every day. i talked to the coach from arizona state today, he called wanting to know about him." sidney said, taking some of the popcorn she held in her hand. whipping her head to make eye contact she felt a few butterflies fluttering about in her stomach, college coaches already?
"but he's a freshman? are they even allowed to reach out when they're freshmen?" those were the questions that y/n was able to put words to, but in her head she had a thousand and one roaming about.
"all i told him was that he's everything a good program needs, he'll only get better with time, but to give me a call in a couple more years. coaches can go look and scout players as young as they want, but typically they don't get offered until they're a junior," sidney explained, "but if they're good...which carter is, then yeah. they can call, i got calls when i was in the eighth grade."
y/n felt intimidated, she isn't ready for conversations with college coaches and she knows carter isn't either. y/n just wants carter to enjoy the innocence of it all before dollar signs get thrown in his face.
"ten minute mark, i better get down there. want me to meet you guys at the restaurant?" she nodded her head and gave him a kiss on the cheek for good luck. by now parents had put two and two together of y/n and sindey's relationship. she had been approached and so has sidney, but for the most part it's been supportive. a few rumors here and there, but how can they complain when their son has the best coach in the country?
sidney starts to walk down the steps and takes a second to get somewhat of an outside perspective on warmups. hands in his pants pocket watching the opposing team but his thoughts were interrupted when a man approached him.
"i have a, uh, question," the man seemed nervous. he was stuttering over his words, not in a drunk way but he was extremely anxious over something. "can you maybe tell me," he took a breath before moving on, "which one my son is?"
sidney was taken back- no, he was floored. is this a joke? is this man serious?
"are you joking with me man?" sidney asked, taking a half step back to face the mans body with his. but from the way sidney looked in his eyes, they were nearly glossed over with fear and intimidation. the man shook his head as he looked on the ice again.
"i've been out of his life, i haven't been a good man and i'll be the first to admit that but, please i gotta start somewhere. saw his picture in the paper and i recognized him from the letters and stuff my mom sends me- his name's carter."
sidney pulled his lip between his teeth. he felt his leg start to shake and his stomach coil from anger, his hands grew sweaty as he balled them up in fists. he looked this man, this small weak man in the eye, he leaned into his level, "your son is number eighty in black. now get the fuck out of my arena before i have you kicked out, you fuckin-"
before sidney could say what he wanted to he felt y/n's hands on his chest pushing him back, "go to the bench, i'll handle him."
sidney looked down at her then back at the man behind y/n. he was still raging with anger on the inside, but did as told and walked down to the bench. when he got down there he watched as she talked to him a little bit before walking him out of the arena.
"what the hell are you doing here, john?" y/n finally asked as they stood out in the cold. she had kept in vague contact with john, trying since they divorced when carter was five to get him to come by at least once. for a birthday, christmas, or even an easter. but he never did.
occasionally he would send a gift card or a card with some cash, but y/n wasn't fully convinced it was him. she had her suspicions that his mother did it. she was involved in her grandson's life; she repeatedly apologized for her son's actions and for his absence. she was just as disappointed as anyone else was.
"'cause i feel horrible, y/n." was all he could say. it was all he had been thinking the past year. "i...i started going to therapy, and i've been trying to get the courage over a year and i just...i wanna be involved. i wanna be there, i wanna get to know my son."
"well you should've thought about that before you walked out on me and your son with your secretary, john. you should have thought about that before you chose a woman who was barely twenty years old over your wife and your child, you had the chance but you lost it."
y/n had so much more to say. she had thought for a long time what she would say if she got the chance. she often rehearsed in her head all that she would say, all that she would yell and scream at john for. she thought about all of it.
"y/n just give me a chance!" john shouted, taking a step closer to y/n not caring about the people who were walking past.
"no. it's not my chance to give. if carter wants to meet up with you then i'll get with your mom, but i could care less. to me you're a fucking loser, john." she felt tears begin to fall down her cheeks as she looked the man she loathed in the eyes for the first time since she last saw him after the divorce was finalized ten years ago.
"leave, just leave. this isn't how carter would want to see you for the first time in ten years anyway," john ducked his head and walked toward the parking lot. y/n turned and went back into the arena to where she was sitting.
a few parents asked her if she was okay, those who knew her and carter's story giving her a hug and a pat on the back. she was appreciative of those around her who supported her and her son.
y/n could barely focus on the game that had already started when she sat back down, her perspective and head space too foggy to even comprehend the game unfolding before her. all she could do was think about the worst days of her life replaying over and over in her head. she was replaying the minute she found out about john's affair, when she packed up her and carter's things and went to her parents house for the time being. she was replaying the divorce meetings, the arguments, the tears.
she was replaying having to explain to her five year old son where his dad went and why he wasn't going to be at home anymore. y/n hadn't gone into full detail with sidney about all of this yet. their relationship was just a few months old and she wanted to protect carter as much as she could. y/n knows and trusts that sidney was and is a good man, but she wants carter to tell what he wants to, not tell for him.
but now she will probably have to.
-
she went ahead and sat in sidney's office, she walked down there a few minutes before the last period ended. she knew that carter had a couple of points on the board, but y/n couldn't remember how he got them. her mind was full of remembering the worst years of her life with her ex husband.
she sat in a chair next to his desk, silently staring at the mess of practice plans, rosters, and scheduling papers strung along his desk. he walked in and shut the door behind him with a thud, plopping his game folder down on his desk. he didn't sit down, he stood with his hands in his pockets looking down at her as she remained sitting.
"you okay?" he asked. she could tell that he was tense, she couldn't figure out why though. they had won the game, the boys played well, and he didn't have anything to worry about. why was he so tense?
y/n nodded her head in response.
"i'll uh, make sure that he doesn't come to another game again." sidney sat down in his chair, resting his chin on his hand. there was an awkward tension in the room. sidney didn't know much about her past marriage, she didn't reveal too much to him. but now he had more questions than ever, he wanted to ask but it was clear she wanted nothing but to keep everything bottled at the moment.
"he seemed like a dick, don't know why anyone would want to marry him." sidney muttered, moving a few things around his desk. but y/n heard him loud and clear.
"what did you just say?" she asked, speaking for the first time since he walked into his office. oh no. he registered what he said, he didn't think before he spoke. he just let his thoughts flow freely off his tongue, shoulda held that one in.
"i- i didn't mean it, y/n i-"
"no, you think i don't regret being married to a man like that? one who was a complete horror of a man? who cheated, who left his wife and child? do you think i'm not embarrassed?" y/n felt tears brim her eyes and she stood up in front of him.
"y/n you know that's not what i meant," he stood up with her and walked around the desk. he put his hands on her shoulders but she slapped them away walking toward the door. she quickly opened it and headed toward the stairs. he thought about running after her but he didn't want to cause a scene. walking back into his office and closing the door he took a spare hockey stick that sat in the corner of the small space and smashed it as hard as he could against the wall, solving his anger in just that moment.
he fucked up.
-
sidney saw a text from carter which had him gathering his keys and putting shoes on his feet.
hey mom hasn't stopped crying since we got home, you know something i don't?
sidney picked up a to-go order on the way to her house, he knew that she wouldn't have eaten anything since leaving the arena. when sidney walked into her house he saw carter sitting at the dinner table eating a bowl of soup watching youtube videos on his laptop. "everything okay?" sidney asked, dumb question.
"i don't know, when i got in the car she was crying. i asked what was wrong and she just shook her head, i thought you guys broke up or something. did you?" carter asked, pausing the video.
"no, we didn't. it's not my place to tell you what happened, but i'll go talk to her." sidney patted carter on the back and walked toward the back master bedroom. he softly knocked on the door, he tried turning the doorknob but she had it locked. "y/n?" he softly asked, knocking again.
he heard sniffles and light footsteps across the wooden door. she unlocked the door and opened it. his heart softened at the sight, her eyes were puffy and her lips were chapped, she wore soft clothes.
walking back to her bed she got in it, pulling the covers over her legs. sidney sat at the foot of her bed and handed the greasy paper sack to her, his form of an apology in that moment. she took the bag and looked inside, a little grin coming on her lips as she saw the bag was full of fries.
she ate the fries in silence, her brain is dull and her head is hurting from crying for two hours straight. sidney sat on the bed with his hand on her leg, just hoping she feels comforted by his presence. he thinks she is, since she didn't take the bag of fries and kick him out.
she sat up, setting the now empty bag on her bedside table, leaned forward to take his hand in hers. sidney scooted closer to her on the bed when she folded her legs. then she gave him a kiss on the cheek, accepting his apology that came in the form of fries.
"i'm sorry for what i said y/n," he whispered again, pressing his forehead against hers. "it slipped out, i shouldn't have said it, i didn't even mean it i-"
"shh, you're forgiven sidney." y/n placed both hands on either side of his face, keeping her forehead against his. she sniffled and sidney parted for a moment, pressing his lips against her soft skin, taking both of her hands in his.
"you don't have to tell me anything about your marriage right now, but i promise, you say the word and i will make sure that he never steps foot anywhere near you or carter again." he tucked some hair behind her ears and kissed the top of her hands.
y/n shook her head, "you don't have to do that." she scooted back toward the pillows that leaned against the headboard, sidney moved on the bed to sit next to her. he put his arm around her shoulders, kissing the top of her head while she laced her fingers with his.
she told him everything that happened in her marriage; she told him about the way john would speak to her in such degrading ways, how john never really made efforts to go to carters special events, how he would make excuses and say things he's in preschool how special could it be? she explained how she found out about john's affair and the messy divorce. right after the divorce john left the state and she never heard from him until five years later. y/n explained how john's mom still keeps in contact with herself and carter, and that she sends john letters and cards with pictures of carter.
sidney felt himself boiling with anger inside, how could someone be that bad of a person? why would anyone want to do such a thing?
"this was the first time in...years that i had seen him in person and it just brought back, everything." tears began to flow through once more and sidney wrapped both arms around her and pulled her in as close as she could. "i don't know what i'd do without you."

~I'd do it all over again if you're with me~
Tumblr media
Pairing:Melissa Schemmenti x Reader
Gender: little bit of hurt, a lot of fluff.
Warnlings : (+18) strong words, mention of period blood, Fertility Treatments .
Summary:You and Melissa had been married for a while and you decided to have a baby, but things weren't as easy as you thought.
____________________________
It was an open house season at the school where your wife worked, you were fascinated to see her talking to parents and some children, her love for them was natural, there was no one who brought out a more loving side of her than the children. Which made you wonder what she would be like with a child of her own, you knew what she would say, that she was very old to have children and that the stage for that in her life had already passed, but she said the same thing about marriage months before proposing to you.
When Christmas came, you decided to pop the question while she was playing with your nephews
-"THEY ARE SO GOOD, SO GOOD, YOU SEE!
SO I WILL EAT THEM IN A BOX.
AND I WILL EAT THEM WITH A FOX.
AND I WILL EAT THEM IN A HOUSE.
AND I WILL EAT THEM WITH A MOUSE.
AND I WILL EAT THEM HERE AND THERE.
SAY! I WILL EAT THEM ANYWHERE!
I DO SO LIKE GREEN EGGS AND HAM!
THANK YOU! THANK YOU, SAM I AM."-she finished reading the story doing funny voices while the children laughed, bewitched by your wife's charms, just like you were watching her.-"Now go wash your hands so we can eat dessert"-your wife said to the children as they ran laughing, one of your nephews got up and walked over to where she was sitting, the redhead gave him her full attention-"everything all right, little one?"
-"Yes Aunt Lissa"- Your nephew responded and played with his little hands looking at your wife with eyes that would conquer anyone - "Someday you will invite me to your house to eat green eggs and ham? My aunt says you cook very well... Pleaseeeee?"-He pleaded and the redhead laughed, hugging him and kissing his forehead
-"Of course, kiddo, but first go wash your hands so we can eat what we all prepare for today"-the little boy smiled from ear to ear and ran off happily. Carefully you approached your wife and sat on her lap running your hands down her neck, she hugged your waist smiling
-"Hello gorgeous"-she whispered and gave you a brief kiss on your lips
-"Hi... You know, you're always beautiful, but especially when you're with kids, I love to see you interact with them... You look so happy. I wish we had one of our own..." - You whispered against her lips and the redhead let out a big laugh
-"I think it's a little late for that... Instead of a son I'll have a grandchildren if I try to have kids now" - she continued laughing but when she saw your seriousness, she stopped- "oh, you're being serious..."-she looked you in the eyes and you nodded- "love... I'm too old for this, my body isn't the same, I can't have children anymore..."- she whispered so as not to attract the attention of your family who were in the house
-"But we are both women and I'm at a very good age to have children... Tell me this is everything you imagined for our life... Tell me that you didn't imagine a family for us, because I have, many times, I want to have a babywith you. Imagine what it would be like a little you or a little me running around the house, their laughter filling every room, you teaching them to read and how to make me angry, also teaching them how to get out of trouble. Imagine me pregnant, my hormones will be through the roof, which would make things very interesting... I know you don't quite agree, but I ask you to at least think about it, please, for me... Remember how much you love your family, your nana, your sister even though you fight a lot. You love big and loud families, and I'm loud, I know, but our family it's little. You'd be an excellent mom if we do this, please think about it"- you whispered and kissed her lips.
-"I'll think about it, for you" - she answered and you hugged her
-"Thanks..."-You whispered
That was almost a year and a half ago, after thinking about it for a bit, Melissa tell you that she wanted to have children with you, so you started doing everything to start the fertilization. The more the redhead thought about it, the more excited she was to be a mom, because she was going to be a mom with you, have a family with you.
At first everything was very exciting, the treatment, the changes, the care, your hormones through the roof, the excitement of being a mother. But little by little, when the treatment began to fail, it all felt like too much. It was the third time it failed and your body and mind were tired, you didn't feel the same anymore and you wondered if it would be worth it to keep trying, you didn't know if you could take more disappointments.
You were naked in front of the bedroom mirror, your butt and abdomen were full of marks and bruises from the needles of the treatment. You'd done everything you'd been asked to do, you had done strict diets, Mel helped you prepare meals and ate like you so you didn't feel alone, gentle exercises every day, injecting hormones, consuming vitamins, folic acid, you lowered the hours at work so you didn't get so stressed, you slept more. You did everything you were told and nothing worked. This was the fourth time you were restarting treatment and you didn't know if you would be able to do it again if it failed. Your mood was awful, seeing your body so marked with bruises made you angry knowing that it wasn't giving results, going to see Melissa at school and seeing so many children made you sad and angry, not being able to eat what you liked also made you be in a bad mood, the pain you had in your body and tiredness put you in a bad mood, If the redhead touched you, it bothered you, but if she didn't, it also bothered you. It bothered you that even though you were dieting, you were gaining weight, your breasts and abdomen hurt. Everything bothered you. It bothered you that despite all the effort, nothing was working.
-"Here I have the injection, love"-your wife spoke entering the room and stared at you, carefully she approached you and hugged you from behind giving you warmth and protection with her body, resting her head on your shoulder and looking at you through the reflection of the mirror-"you are so strong and so beautiful"-she whispered and kissed your cheek, your eyes filled with tears
-"If this fails once again, I don't know if I'll be able to keep doing it Mel... Everything hurts and I feel very tired, I don't know if I'll take one more disappointment. I know that at the beginning it was my insistence and my idea that led us to this, I know that you have also been excited about being a mom and I still think that you will be an excellent mom, but my body is not working and I don't know how much strength I have left to keep trying"-you whispered crying and your wife hugged you tighter, she didn't like to see you sad or in pain
-"It's okay, I still appreciate everything you've done for us, you're very strong... If this doesn't work, we could look for other alternatives, maybe adopt or we can think about it later, but for now let's focus on finishing this treatment, yes? Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves, let's live the present love." - She whispered and you nodded letting her give you the daily injection, closing your eyes because of the pain it caused you. Carefully, she knelt beside you, her lips rested on your skin, kissing each and every mark that was on your body, paying special attention to those in your swollen abdomen making you smile a little, you delicately stroked her hair and sighed
-"Thanks Mel, you always know what to do..."-You whispered and she got up hugging you again
-"It's my pleasure, baby. What do you say if before we leave for work, you get dressed and let's get one of those waffles that you miss so much?"-the redhead commented and your eyes shone with excitement nodding and kissing her happily.
Mel had faith that this time it would work, but her hopes were dashed when her cell phone alarm rang off to work, she quickly turned off the alarm and turned on the bed to hug you and give you a few kisses, so you would wake up in a good mood. But when you moved your body to hug her, a red stain was seen on the bed sheets. It was already the fourth time you had seen this in the time of the treatment, that meant that your period had started and that the fertility treatment was not successful. You sighed, Melissa tried to hug you but you got up quickly to go to the bathroom and got into the shower closing the door behind you. Quietly but quickly, she changed the sheets by putting them in the wash and putting new ones on the bed, she also prepared a change of clothes for you, and then she walked over to the bathroom door. Even though the door wasn't locked, she knocked softly, asking for permission to come in
-"Amore? Can I come in?"-She asked and when you didn't answer her, she came in closing the door behind her. She silently removed her clothes and came in with you, taking the soap and washing your body with a lot of love, so much so that you couldn't help but start crying
-"I'm so sorry Mel, I'm sorry. I really wanted to start a family with you, but I don't know what's wrong with my stupid body" - You said in a trembling voice and she hugged you tight
-"Don't say that, ever. Your body is perfect and you are very strong for doing this. I wanted it too, but there are other ways to get it. I know you're very tired mentally and physically, so let's take some time off and then we'll see how we decide to continue. Do you want me to stay home with you today? We can call your work and mine and stay here, sleeping, watching a movie or whatever you want... I can cook anything you want, Yes?"-You really wanted to stay home, but the next day you had a doctor's appointment. Even though it was a check and you already knew what you were going to be told, you would need your wife's help to do it because you didn't know if you could do it alone.
-"I really want to, but tomorrow I'll need it more, we have the doctor's appointment... And I don't know if I'll be able to miss two days in a row at work... So I'll leave it for tomorrow" - You whispered and she nodded, helping you finish the bath.
Throughout that day, Mel kept an eye on you with messages, brought you food, and also picked you up at the end of work. You were so grateful for her care, but you didn't even feel like breathing at the time, so when you got home you just went straight to bed and stayed there. The redhead lay down next to you and hugged you throughout.
You knew it was difficult for her too, she was as excited as you were and that had hurt her too, and if it were up to her, she would have put her body to keep trying, if only it had been possible. But she saw firsthand how much the treatment had affected you, hurt you, so she would be supporting you through everything even if she was hurting too.
That night the two of you hugged each other and cried yourself to sleep.
The next day Mel tried to wake you up with a delicious breakfast, but your appetite was still non-existent, and you had a lot of nausea and abdominal pain, so you didn't eat. With great heaviness and sadness you got up, your eyes were swollen from crying and the nausea from the treatment had worsened more than other days. You almost burst into tears when you went to the bathroom and saw that you were still getting your period.
Upon arriving at the hospital, the redhead held your hand at all times whispering sweet words while caressing your back with her free hand. When the doctor called you, you were sure that if it wasn't for your wife's help, you wouldn't have been able to get out of your chair, even walking felt too heavy for such a dreary day. You already knew what they were going to tell you, but having it confirmed by a doctor made it more real. You and Melissa explained what had happened the day before, but the doctor insisted on continuing with the tests. When he took out the gel and put it in your stomach, a shiver ran through your body and Melissa squeezed your hand tighter. She couldn't take her eyes off the screen, but you didn't want to see or hear anything, you didn't want the weight of reality to crush you.
-"Can you repeat it?"-Mel's voice brought you back, Why did she want the doctor to repeat something as painful as that the treatment had failed? You looked at her confused and then at the doctor
-"Congratulations, you're going to be moms" - he pointed to the screen, showing a bean-shaped dot-"The treatment worked and your baby is growing as it should, now you will have to have different types of controls and diets, but we will see that later. Congratulations moms!"-the doctor told you and Melissa looked at you while you looked at the doctor
-"B-but what about my period? It started yesterday and it's still going on, I was told by previous attempts that when my period came it meant that the egg wasn't fertilized and that I had to try again or end the treatment definitely" -You spoke nervously, trying not to get your hopes up
-"Was it darker blood than normal? "-He asked and you nodded-"thicker?"-you nodded again-"It's something normal, when the baby settles down to start growing, he lets out what no longer serves him and that's what you're letting out now and seeing on your pads, it doesn't always happen but it's normal. That's another sign that the baby has already gotten comfortable to continue growing"- the doctor spoke and you looked at Mel excitedly, the redhead was smiling from ear to ear and crying
-"We're going to be moms" - you whispered in disbelief
-"We are!" - She said excitedly and hugged you tightly.
The next few months were both exciting and tedious, but it was all worth it. Vomiting, nausea, pain in your back and feet. But you started eating more things you liked, sex was much more pleasurable, your breasts grew bigger, and your abdomen started to grow. Mel couldn't keep her hands away from you, let alone when the baby started to move. Even though it was the sixtieth time the baby had done it, she was as excited as the first time. The two of you took advantage and bought a thousand things to pamper the baby, even the other teachers of the school when they found out, they made a babyshower party for you two.
When the baby was born, you both were happy to see a healthy baby girl, she had your eye color and her hair color, big red hair like your wife. If you thought Melissa looked lovingly at you, she looked at your daughter with love and adoration. The two decided to call her Lissa, because of the end of Melissa's name and how much she looked like her.
Despite everything you two had to go through, it's something you'd do again to see her this happy again and for your daughter to grow up with siblings.
You were certainly not wrong when you said that Mel would be a great mom, nothing made her happier than coming home to be with you and the baby, or when you surprised her and went to see her at school.
Melissa was the one who got up the most times at night to attend to her and the one who changed her diapers the most often. You loved the days when the 3 of you would take a bath together or watch Melissa make up songs to sing to your daughter
-"You know, I know you know, how much we expected you, how much I wanted you, I know you know. You know that sometimes there are disagreements, but when there is a union of two souls, it brings light, light like you. You know that when you arrived you changed the color of my mornings, and the smell too."-you laughed listening to her -"How can I explain to you the love I have for you, it cannot be compared, it is a love that has no limits. I watch you as your mother rocks you, it makes me feel strong to see you grow. The love I have for you, I let it show in this song"-Melissa sang to your daughter every time she came home from work and she could hold her in her hands, your daughter watched her intently every second, touching your wife's face with her little clumsy hands. That was one of your favorite songs. Seeing Mel happy with your daughter, it was your favorite thing.
~Years Later~
-"Here comes mommy! Go say hello to her"-you said to your little three-year-old daughter as she watched your wife leave school. Her little red ponytail moved back and forth as she ran to her mother. Your wife opened her arms and lifted her up, hugging her tightly against her body. Barbara smiled at her friend and showered your daughter with kisses making her laugh
-"Mommy I missed you so much! Auntie Baba! You all(are) making me ticklee!" - she laughed between the two women. Carefully you approached your wife laughing
-"Leave my princess alone, she's already drunk two boxes of apple juice and she's going to pee" - Your daughter nodded and made little hands to Barbara who picked her up with pleasure. Your wife kissed you smiling and put her hand on your big belly, giving him a kiss as well.
-"I missed you all... How are you feeling?" - she whispered over your lips before kissing you again
-"The little guy is kicking like crazy but I feel good, I think this one will look more like me but he will have the Schemmenti character without a doubt, he is not born yet and he is already hitting everything he can"-you laughed seeing her surprised face
-"Our daughter looks like me and has your humor, but when she gets angry, she also has your character"—she laughed as you gently punched her arm-"and that's why I love her so much" - She kissed you again and you laughed-"Let's go home? I'm planning to make those gnocchi that you and the baby like so much, what do you say?"
-"Mommy! Can we invite auntie Baba fol dinel? She told me that next yeal I'll be with hel in school! And she can teach me now all the cool games! Pweeeease?" - she begged you two with big puppy eyes
-"Of course, my love, Aunt Barbara can go home with us to eat and while she teaches you all the games, Mommy and I will do some things together... We have to take advantage of having a free nanny to have some alone time before this one arrives"-Melissa whispered touching your belly and Barbara gave her a bad look, making you laugh.

Growing Sideways
Pairing: Haymitch Abernathy x reader
Summary: Haymitch realizes you're not safe after the stunt he pulled with the forcefield in the arena, so he forces you to flee District 13.
A/N Please excuse any mistakes. I didn't proofread this
Tumblr media
Everything is changed when he returns from the Games. He never talks about them. Not to his parents, not to his brother, and certainly not to you. Of course, you watched them live on the broadcast same as everyone else in Panem but there are moments you can't even begin to understand or comprehend, and Haymitch knows that. You feel him slipping through your fingers, and you can't even blame him. Going through something so traumatic... you shudder at the thought. It doesn't stop you from being there though. You don't push him, but you're always right there when he needs you.
Two weeks pass before you experience the aftermath of one of his nightmares. His mother invited you to stay after dinner even though Haymitch wasn't home. You'd be lying if you said that you didn't accept her invitation with the hopes of seeing Haymitch.
"He's not very fond of using the front door," his mother remarks dryly when the bump of two feet hitting the floor interrupts your conversation. But her eyes shine with worry about her son.
"I'll go check on him," you excuse yourself and get up from the couch. He crawled through the window into his room, most likely to avoid the confrontation with his family. There's a half-empty bottle lying on the floor and seeping onto the carpet of his room. Haymitch is passed out in his bed, looking too much like the sweet 16-year-old boy he was before the Hunger Games.
Today had been rough. Haymitch had once again been forced to play the part of the victor for some celebratory show in the Capitol. Those people forget that it's real children they send into that arena. The thought of them enjoying themselves while watching kids get killed is enough to make you feel nauseous.
"Don't leave," he mumbles before beginning to toss around in the bed. Nightmares. It's been like this every single night since he came back but this is the first time, you're here to actually experience it. The only reason you know is because his parents have shared their concerns with you.
"Please," he chokes, a trickle of sweat starting to show on his face.
"I'm dealing with this the best I can!"
You get on your knees in front of the bed and carefully take his hands into yours, ignoring the echoes of your fight earlier today. His thrashing stops momentarily, allowing you to crawl into bed with him.
"I don't even want you here, so why do you insist on being here?"
"Y/N?" he whispers, not fully awake yet.
"I'm right here."
"Just leave me alone."
One thing Haymitch Abernathy doesn't get to do is push you away when he's hurting. You can't stand the thought of him in pain, and the pain only multiplies in the next couple of days. You're not sure why you're surprised. After the stunt he pulled with the forcefield, of course, the President would be angry.
His father dies first. Mining accident. Nothing suspicious about that. He's certainly not the first to lose his life in those mines.
You imagine his mother is trickier. Maybe that's why they decide to have the peacekeepers execute her in the square for buying supplies at the black market. That day Haymitch packs a bag with your belongings and sends word to his contact at District 13. A contact he's only known since they were introduced under the games. They keep you safe and in return, he works for them in order to bring down the Capitol. Neither of you has any idea what that really means, but Haymitch doesn't care if it means you're safe.
"Haymitch, I can't just leave. There are people who depend on me."
"I'm not asking you, I'm telling you. You're leaving at 8pm tonight." He shoves another sweater into your bag as if that's what you'll be missing if you go to District 13. Everything is happening too fast. Five minutes ago, you had no idea District 13 still existed, and now you're going there indefinitely?
"Do you not understand that he will kill you just for being associated with me?" Pain is evident in his voice as he finally turns to look at you. He's already lost his family, he can't watch you die too, and you know that.
"You're a victor, you won the games. The Capitol loves our relationship, he can't kill me," you argue.
"Nobody ever wins the Games. Period. There are survivors. There're no winners."
"Come with me then," you plead, your voice shaking with unshed tears but there's no escaping for him. He's a victor, and he'll be forced to perform as such for the rest of his life. Your final hug is filled with things you can't bring yourself to say. Things Haymitch already knows, and things you promise yourself to tell him when you see him again.

Busker Eddie who always sets up right outside The Harrington and Son Law Firm because the overhang of the tall building gives him the best acoustics, and it’s right across from the subway line.
Sure he has to deal with Mr. Harrington calling the police on him for soliciting every time he shows up. But the tips he makes are worth it. Plus, he’s managed to win over the chief of police Hopper, who never writes Eddie up. He thinks it’s because Hopper has some kind of feud with Harrington, but he doesn’t ask. It’s better not to get involved.
Eddie’s busking his heart out one day. Giving his all to a small group of tourists gathered around him when a Young Suit marches over to him. Fights his way through the tourists, gets his hands on Eddie’s shirt, and yanks him away from the crowd.
The Young Suit is dressed like all the other suits who sneer at Eddie as they head into the building every afternoon. But this Young Suit doesn't look anything like the rest of them. His hair is fluffy and styled to perfection, nothing like the clean-shaven and buzzed heads Eddie's used to. His walk is a little less polished, dress shoes a size too big on his feet, Eddie guesses. But it's his eyes that really give him away. They're not dark and dead like every other suit who sold their soul to the devil. There's a glimmer of life behind this guy's eyes, enough that Eddie doesn't immediately start his rant about how lawyers are the devil reincarnated.
He still gives him shit though.
"What the fuck man?"
"Look, I don't want to do this," Young Suit says, running a hand through his hair. "But my dad's ready to throw the fax machine out the window if you don't leave so can you please find somewhere else to busk?"
Dad, huh?
Eddie can work with that.
"Ah, so you're the son in Harrington and Son's Law Firm," Eddie says, a salacious grin appearing on his face. "Sorry, Harrington Jr., but no can do. This is my spot. Tell daddy I have the license to prove it."
Harrington Jr. sighs dramatically before his hands land on his hips. He looks like an exasperated soccer mom.
A cute exasperated soccer mom.
Oh.
Oh no.
"Could you at least change the days you're here then?" Harrington Jr. asks. "My asshole dad never works on Mondays and Tuesdays. If you busk those days, I'll make sure no one calls the cops on you."
"Like I said, no can do," Eddie says, casually. "I make most of my rent money on Thursdays and Fridays. Daddy dearest will have to deal with it."
"Don't do it for him, do it for me."
"And why would I do anything for you?" Eddie asks, caught off guard for the first time in a long time.
Harrington Jr. gets a wicked look in his eyes. Lips twitching upward in a smirk that has Eddie's knees seconds away from buckling.
"Because I actually like your voice and want to hear more of it without my dad screaming and threatening violence in the background," he says, laying the compliment on thick. "I can also make it worth your while."
"How do you plan on doing that?"
"I have a friend who works at the club on 9th. One phone call and you can be performing on a real stage for people who don't smell like stale subway air. You're too good to be performing on street corners."
The offer is tempting, it is. But Eddie can hear his uncle's nagging voice in the back of his head. The one that tells him not to take offers from strangers, especially not pretty ones who can't be trusted.
"Tell you what, Harrington Jr." Eddie flirts. "I'll think about it, while I finish my set. Till then, I'm not leaving. "
"Better keep watch for flying fax machines then," Harrington Jr. sighs again, finally dropping his hands from his hips. He turns to go back inside but stops abruptly, digging in the pockets of his pants before pulling a thick wallet out. He leafs through it before tossing an impressive stack of bills in Eddie's open guitar case.
Eddie waits for him to say something else, but he never does. Just stuffs the wallet back in his pocket and drags himself back inside the building.
When Eddie's sure Harrington Jr. is back inside, he kneels down to inspect his earnings. He nearly passes out when he spots three crisp hundred dollars bills lying under a business card that reads:
Steve Harrington Associate Lawyer Harrington and Son Law Firm 646-442-8422
Well played, Eddie thinks as he pockets the business card with Steve's number. Well played, indeed.

Infidelity II
Tumblr media
series masterlist main masterlist
warnings: unedited, arranged marriage, mentioned s3x, throwing up, pregnancy scares.
"What about Rafe? The Camerons are one of the richest people here," your mother asked. You were just trying to fetch a glass of water in the middle of the night when you noticed that your father's office was slightly ajar.
Excitement bubbled in your stomach, you knew you were set to marry someone one day and that someone was going to be picked by your parents but you were honestly okay with it. Dating seemed useless when this was your future so instead of dating, you decided for casual hookups only, one of those hookups being Rafe Cameron.
One drunken sex in his truck turned into a sober late night call which soon turned into random meetups in either houses. Some of those meetups didn't even include sex at all. You would spend nights looking at the stars, getting high off of weed, and enjoying some fast food in the car with music blasting through the speakers.
And what did that result? you catching feelings for him.
You tried to push it away but the more he paid attention to your every need, the more you fell deeper into his trap.
Hearing your parents discuss him being your possible future husband made your heart skip a beat. Rafe quickly became a huge fixture in your life and marrying him would make him a permanent one.
Honestly? that didn't sound too bad.
"No, honey, the Macmillans own the biggest oil company here, they easily beat the Camerons. And they already proposed this agreement with their son and our daughter, so that's the easiest way to go."
"Then let's do it," you hear your mom pick up the phone, "Call Mr. Macmillan's assistant and set up a meeting whenever they have a free spot."
You felt your heart drop in disappointment.
Guess you're not getting Rafe Cameron for the rest of your life after all.
---
"You sure you'll be okay? I can cancel this meeting and stay back with you," Michael, your fiance, said as he handed you a bottle of water. There was a hint of hesitation in his offer so you knew he really doesn't want to miss out on work.
You'd been puking all morning, not even having touched breakfast yet. The smell of eggs burned the pit of your stomach before you even neared it.
"I'll be fine, it's probably just as stomach bug," You sighed, splashing your face with cold water, "You should go, you'll be late with the traffic."
"Right, I'll see you later then," He picks up his keys from the bathroom counter, "Call if you feel any worse, alright?"
"Will do," You tell him and wait for the nausea to calm down before you move to the living room couch. You quickly make a call to your dad, telling him that you won't be able to come to work today then cuddle up on the couch to watch your favourite TV show.
Several minutes into your show, your phone rings with Sarah's caller id flashing on the screen which you quickly accept.
"Hey, I went to visit you at work and you weren't there. Your dad said you were sick, everything okay?" She speaks as soon as the call connected.
"I'm okay, I was just nauseous and threw up a couple of times, it's probably just a little bug, it's been a few days actually," You sighed, turning to your back, trying to get comfortable.
"Did you go to a doctor yet?" Her concerned voice calls out.
"No, but I'll get scheduled later," you replied, "What were you coming to visit me for, anyway?"
"Oh, nothing," you could hear the opening and closing of the car door on her line before she spoke again, "I was just going to tell you about a pregnancy scare I had this morning, luckily my period was just a little late. It was so scary, I just needed to tell someone that isn't my step mom."
You felt your heart drop. It's been a while since you had your period again. Surely, you were on birth control and it made your periods a little irregular and late most of the time but it's been a little over two months now.
And it’s been two months since you last hooked up with Rafe in that family dinner.
You were officially fucked.

Giving him the love he deserves (Sanji x Reader) Part 3
Note: Reader is still Mc (Main Character), but I made it sound like it's a name! I'm still too lazy to think of a real name. Forgive me!
The prompt for the story is: "The reader gets sucked into One Piece after wishing that someone would love Sanji like he is supposed to be loved, as nobody has given him a chance. She would love to give him that chance if only she could. One time, she was in her room, falling asleep while recording her voice for a cover request sent to her. When she woke up, she found herself in a boat floating, wearing pieces of jewelry fit for nobility. Her neck, ears, and bracelets were all glittering in the darkness." P.S. I know this is Sanji fic but I'll use any excuse to use the GIF to say it's his scene! Part 3 under the cut. Part 1, Part 2 here
Tumblr media
In the midst of the chaos, "Zoro," Nami's voice, usually sharp and commanding, was laced with genuine concern as she watched her comrade face the looming threat. "Zoro, don't do anything reckless!" Usopp added, his wide eyes reflecting the worry shared by the entire crew.
Luffy, their fearless captain, clenched his fists, his determination evident in the hard set of his jaw. "Zoro's got this, guys. He's strong!"
Amidst the tension, Mc, their calm and composed beacon, swiftly organized supplies with a precision that belied the chaos around them. Her hands moved swiftly, efficiently gathering bandages, antiseptics, and herbs, her eyes focused and determined. Zeff, their stern mentor, grappled with the puzzle. “Lass, you know this was about to happen,” he stated, not a question but a fact.
Tearfully, she explained, “He won’t listen even if I tell him. Right now, I am no one in the crew. Why would he listen to me if he won’t even listen to them?”
Zeff, begrudgingly accepting her words, said, “Sanji, give me a tequila and a yellowfin.”
“I understand the tequila, but Yellowfin?” an unusual request that left him questioning the old man's sanity. A yellowfin for someone so gravely wounded seemed absurd.
Mc managed to smile weakly at Sanji, her touch gentle on his cheek, her eyes reflecting the depth of their bond. She whispered, “Obey your dad for once,” bridging the gap between them and transforming their rough love into a father-son dynamic that Sanji had never imagined possible.
In the midst of the tension, Sanji nodded, his usual confidence wavering for a moment before he steeled himself. “He could have explained,” he mumbled but followed, determination burning in his eyes as he rushed towards the kitchen. —
When they arrived, Zoro was sprawled out on the table, blood staining his clothes and the floor beneath him. Zeff, with the precision that came from years of experience, meticulously prepared the yellowfin fish. With delicate hands, he skinned the fish and placed it against the newly stitched wound on Zoro's chest, explaining it was a sailorman’s trick, an old remedy passed down through generations.
“Old man,” Sanji marveled, his admiration for the old chef's wisdom evident in his eyes.
"It's an old trick I learned. Sometimes, the simplest remedies work wonders," Zeff replied, his hands steady despite the urgency of the situation.
After they moved Zoro to Nami's room, Nami began reading to Zoro's unconscious form, her voice a soothing melody. Her presence brought a sense of calm to the room, a brief respite from the storm of emotions that raged outside.
Outside the room, Luffy, diligently cleaned Zoro’s sword, his face set in determination. He was focused, his every movement purposeful, as if he could will his friend back to health through sheer determination alone. Mc and Sanji tried giving Luffy food, but just this once, Luffy declined. That boy never said no to food. Luffy still had that smile on his face.
Mc, Usopp, and Sanji gathered around the kitchen island, Sanji’s hands working swiftly and efficiently to prepare the yellowfin that had been skinned earlier. Mc roped Usopp in to mold some rice balls, her childlike enthusiasm managing to distract the sniper. The room was filled with the aroma of fresh ingredients, a stark contrast to the tension that hung in the air.
Inside the room, tension thickened when Nami walked out, unshed tears in her eyes. The air was heavy with their collective worry and fear. Nami, her eyes filled with frustration and despair, cast blame upon Luffy for not preventing Zoro's challenge to Mihawk. Luffy's unwavering commitment to not shattering anyone’s dreams fueled the fire in Nami’s eyes. She gritted her teeth, expressing her belief that life was worth more than risking it all for a dream, her frustration evident in every word she uttered. In a huff, she stormed out of the room, leaving an atmosphere charged with emotions behind her.
Feeling Mc stiffen beside him, Sanji was aware of the burden she carried. He pulled her closer, his arms wrapping around her protectively. He felt her tense muscles relax against him, her head finding solace against his chest. In that moment, he understood the weight of her knowledge from the future and the pain it brought her. The crew they had just joined was falling apart, and he couldn't bear to see Mc suffer because she couldn’t do anything about it. His grip tightened around her, silently promising to be her anchor amidst the storm, to share her burden, and face the challenges ahead together.
"No matter what happens, I'll stand by your side; I would never desert you,” he whispered, his voice a soft reassurance in the midst of uncertainty. She looked up at him, her eyes filled with gratitude and love, and for a moment, the world outside faded away, leaving just the two of them. —
Then a shocking revelation struck – Nami had been colluding with Arlong all along, betraying the crew's trust by handing over the map of the Grand Line.
Burdened by her knowledge of the future, Mc wrestled with the decision to withhold this information. Sensing her inner conflict, Sanji gently pulled her aside, his eyes searching hers for answers.
"Did Nami betray us?" His voice was low, filled with concern.
Mc looked into Sanji’s eyes, her gaze reflecting the pain she felt.
“Of course, she wouldn’t,” Luffy said, his voice surprisingly calm after overhearing their conversation "You-", Sanji's eyes widened in shock. "The future huh?"Luffy smiled at Mc, now comprehending the weight of Mc's burden, her knowledge from her world guiding their path, he stood rooted to the spot. His usually carefree demeanor turned serious as he realized the gravity of the situation. His voice cut through the tension of the room. "We need to save her," he declared, his tone unwavering, filled with determination and hope. "We will?" Usopp is half hesitant remembering the fishmen. Luffy clenched his fists, his resolve firm. “Of course! We're a crew. We never leave anyone behind! Let's go kick Arlong's butt and bring Nami back!"
Zoro, the swordsman with a stern expression, nodded in agreement, "Arlong won't know what hit him when we're done."
Eyes immediately went to Zoro, who was standing like nothing had happened.
"Nami would jump out of joy if she sees you awake!" Usopp said, his eyes bright with admiration for Zoro's strength.
“That’ll be a sight to see,” Zoro snorted knowing Nami.
Mc, her eyes filled with gratitude and determination, stepped forward. "You let us take care of this. Fight, but make sure you don't make those stitches worse. Unless you want to die on us.”
“Like something like that will kill me,” Zoro snorted but looked at their new crew member fondly. She, after all, supplied his alcohol during their stay. “You can fight too, eh?” Zoro smirked at Mc. She always had been away from the fights they encountered.
Usopp, his eyes gleaming with a mix of fear and excitement, chimed in, "We'll show Arlong that the Straw Hat crew doesn't back down from a fight! Prepare yourselves, because we're coming for you, Arlong!"
Clearly hearing Usopp's hesitance earlier, “You’ll scare them away, huh, great captain Usopp?” Zoro grinned.
Sanji tightened his grip on Mc's hand, his usual suave demeanor replaced by fierce determination.

*Months Later*
It had started out as a normal, average day in Alexandria, but life as you knew it turned from peaceful to chaotic within the span of 24 hours.
"Boys, breakfast!" Daryl shouted over his shoulder while flipping pancakes from the frying pan to the plate.
The word 'breakfast' was like a trigger word in the Grimes-Dixon house because every single resident suddenly appeared out of nowhere. Daryl rolled his eyes but didn't stop the greedy hands stealing pancakes from the stack while you stood beside him making your sons sandwiches for school.
"I'll never get sick of waking up to this." Michonne commented, leaning between you both to take a couple pancakes from the bench.
"You and me both." Your father agreed, the two of them vanishing with the food just as quickly as they had appeared.
"They're a little on the burnt side, baby brother." Merle commented walking out the kitchen with a pancake in his hand.
"Make 'em yourself then!" Daryl shot back.
"I think they're good." Little Dean piped up shoving one of the pancakes in his mouth.
"Thanks, kiddo." Daryl smiled, reaching down to ruffle his son's hair. "Why don't ya put it in a bowl ‘n pour some syrup over it? Not too much though."
You put the knife down and pulled out two bowls from the cabinet above your head before holding them out to Dean. He flopped his bitten pancake into one of the bowls before grabbing a few more pancakes from the stack. He evenly divided up the food in the two bowls, one for him and one for his brother like he did every morning.
You went back to cutting up the sandwiches while watching Dean out the corner of your eye with the syrup to make sure he didn't drown the pancakes in too much sugar. But after all this time he seemed to have finally mastered the right amount of syrup to pancake ratio.
Ricky walked into the kitchen a couple minutes later and sat down at the table beside Dean who slid his bowl of pancakes over which Ricky eagerly started to eat, mumbling a 'thank you' with his mouth full of food.
"Ricky, what time-" You started to say before he cut you off.
"I don't wanna be called Ricky anymore." He announced, putting his fork down and looking over at you across the kitchen.
You paused mid slice through the bread before you glanced over at Daryl who met your gaze with an equally confused and surprised expression.
"Okay." You said slowly while turning to give him your full attention. "What do you want to be called?"
He shrugged his shoulders, "dunno."
"Your proper name is Richard." Daryl said, putting the frying pan in the sink before turning to face the boys. "What 'bout that?"
Ricky scrunched his face up, "doesn't Richard mean Dick?"
Merle's laughter echoed out from the lounge room at his nephew’s words but you pointily ignored the eldest Dixon and looked back over at your son.
"Where did you hear that?"
"Carl." Ricky answered, looking down at his empty bowl with an unreadable expression.
"Carl! Get in here!" You shouted, folding your arms across your chest as you leant back against the bench and a few seconds later you brother walked into the room.
"What?" He mumbled, rubbing his tired eyes like he had only just gotten out of bed.
"Why did you tell my son that Richard means Dick?"
That questioned seemed to snap Carl out of his tiredness and he stood up a bit straighter as his eyes swept between you, the boys, Daryl and back to you before he sighed.
"He was talking about not wanting to be called Ricky. I thought it was better for him to hear it from me rather than some other kid at school."
Ricky rolled his eyes, "you just wanted to end the conversation so you could go make out with Enid."
Daryl quickly covered up his laugh with a fake cough and you smirked behind your hand as Carl's eyes widened like his biggest secret had just been exposed. That kid definitely had a crush on this Enid girl.
"He's always hanging around Enid." Dean informed, looking over at you and Daryl.
"I am not." Carl exclaimed defensively.
"Isn't she dating Ron anyway? Why do you spend so much time with her?" Ricky questioned.
"I'm not discussing this with a couple of children."
"Children?" Ricky repeated, with a small chuckle of disbelief. "I'm not even two years younger than you and could kick your ass."
“In your dreams."
"Okay. Let's go." Ricky abruptly stood up from his chair, but Daryl was quick to move and stepped forward, grabbing his son by the back of his shirt.
"Alright, that's enough." Daryl ordered.
"We don't fight with family." You stated, pushing yourself away from the bench and walking over to them.
"Dad and Uncle Merle fight all the time." Ricky grumbled.
"Uncle Merle and I argue all the time. But we don't physically fight." Daryl explained, pushing Ricky back down into his chair.
Merle chose that moment to walk back into the kitchen with a shit eating grin. He opened his mouth about to correct Daryl and inform the kids that the two of them had definitely fought physically while they were younger and even when they were adults, but you quickly pointed at him and gave him a stern look causing Merle to snap his mouth shut instantly.
"We don't fight family. Okay? There's too much we have to fight these days, we shouldn't be fighting each other too." You simply explained, looking between the Dixons and Carl. "Now, Carl come get some breakfast. Boys put your bowls in the sink and go get changed for school."
"Thanks, and I'm sorry." Carl apologised, looking over at Ricky.
"Sorry too." Ricky replied.
Carl nodded before he swiped a few pancakes from the plate on the bench before he walked out the kitchen and went back upstairs to his bedroom.
"You would've won the fight." Dean whispered, leaning over to his brother.
Ricky smirked a little and Daryl snorted as the boys stood up and put their dishes in the sink before wandering off to go get ready for school.
Merle watched them walk off before he turned back towards the two of you, "they're definitely Dixons."
"I don't know if that's a good thing." You sighed, picking up the knife to finish cutting the sandwiches into triangles.
"It probably ain't. But it's funny as fuck." Merle responded.
Daryl rolled his eyes, "don't ever tell 'em about the fights we used to have."
"So, I shouldn't bring up the time you kicked me in the nuts, and I gave you a bloody nose when we were their age?" Merle asked, although by the sheepish tone in his voice it was clear he already knew the answer.
"Never tell that story." You said over your shoulder.
"Oh, come on. It had a nice ending. We made up 'n went squirrel hunting... then nearly got lost in the woods, but we made it back in one piece."
"Barely." Daryl muttered, walking over to the sink to start washing the dishes.
"I got the dishes. You get your brother out the house before I throw this peanut butter sandwich at him." You instructed, wrapping one of the sandwiches while Merle snickered from across the kitchen.
"On it." Daryl replied, leaning over and placing a gentle kiss to your temple before he walked out the kitchen, grabbing his brother's arm along the way and dragging him out the room.
You chuckled softly under your breath, wrapping the last sandwich before placing them both on the kitchen table for your sons to grab soon. You got to quick work with the dishes and your father wandered back in with his and Michonne’s plates and grabbed a towel to help.
You handed your father a bowl which he took and began to dry off with a towel, but your eyes lingered on the butterfly stitches still covering the worst of the cuts on his face after the fight he had with Pete not too long ago.
Pete had been dangerous. He needed to be stopped and although a lot of the civilians in town were now fearful and untrusting of your father, you backed him 100% for what he did. Pete had to be stopped, so Rick killed him. It was as simple as that.
"How's the face?" You asked, eyeing the still healing bruises and cuts.
"It's probably seen better days." Your dad admitted with a chuckle. "It's fine though, doesn't hurt."
You nodded satisfied with that answer before you went back to washing the last bowl in the sink before pulling the plug to drain the water.
"Did Daryl tell you that we're doing a test run today?" Rick asked a few seconds later.
“Yeah. Are you sure you don't need me out there? I can help."
"I know you can." Rick smiled, putting the bowl down to look at you. "But we need to keep a few fighters here to look after everyone."
You sighed but didn't argue any further.
A few days prior Rick discovered a giant horde of walkers stuck in the quarry not too far from town. The horde were trapped inside by two semi-trucks blocking the exit, but apparently the trucks looked very close to shifting and once they did, that horde would be led straight to Alexandria.
A horde that size would barge straight through the walls, destroying everything.
So, a plan was set.
With Daryl on his bike, and Merle and Abraham in a car, they were going to lead the horde 20 miles away in the opposite direction. Rick had put together another group to be on either side of the horde and redirecting the dead if they started to veer off track.
The plan sounded simple enough, but you knew it had the possibility of turning south at the drop of a hat.
"Fresh coffee anyone?" Carol asked from somewhere behind you.
You turned around to find the woman standing by the bench pouring herself a cup of coffee. How long has she been standing there for?
"I'd love one, thanks." You wiped your hands on the end of Ricks towel before walking over to Carol who handed you a mug with a gentle smile.
You took a sip of the coffee before making your way out the front door to enjoy the warm drink peacefully on the porch.
"You got a better idea bro?" Daryl's voice snapped.
You looked up to find him and Merle by the motorcycle on the road in front of the house. Daryl was knelt beside the bike and seemed to be securing something with a cable tie while Merle stood behind him with a disapproving scowl.
"Yeah. Don't fucking break it next time."
"Real fuckin' helpful, thanks." Daryl muttered, glaring up at his brother over his shoulder.
Well, so much for drinking your coffee in peaceful silence.
Ricky suddenly walked out the front door with his backpack in his hand, "can I help?"
You looked over at the brothers by the bike before glancing through the front window at the clock on the wall inside the house.
"Only for a few minutes otherwise you'll be late for school." You explained.
"Come hold this for me. You'll be better help then your one-armed uncle over here." Daryl muttered, pointing the spanner at Merle.
"Screw you too." Merle responded.
Ricky dropped his backpack by your feet before running down the porch steps eager to help his dad with the bike. You leant against the railing sipping on your coffee while you watched the three of them together.
Daryl was patient, explaining things to Ricky while he worked, and your son nodded along with a hard look of concentration on his face trying to soak it all in.
"Ricky forgot his sandwich." Dean's voice suddenly said.
You glanced over your shoulder to find your youngest walking out the door with his backpack over his shoulders and his brother’s sandwich in his hand. He spotted Rickys bag by your feet and unzipped it, placing the sandwich inside without having to be asked and you smiled proudly at him.
"Thanks, sweetie. You ready for school?"
Dean nodded, "Carl already left though. He went out the back door."
Carl always walked to school with Ricky and Dean. Why would he sneak out the back door without them?
"He's ditching us for Enid." Dean further explained noticing your confusion.
Of course, he was.
"I can walk you boys to school if you want?"
"It's just down the road, mama." Dean rolled his eyes like your offer was totally ridiculous and you smiled softly at his reaction, but sorta hurt at the same time.
When did your boys get so grown up? It wasn't that long ago you were pushing them around in strollers before the dead were walking.
Time was going too quick.
"Can I just be called Rick? Like Grandpa?" Ricky suddenly said, standing up from where he had been kneeling beside the bike. He looked between Daryl and Merle before glancing over at you with wide hopeful eyes wanting your approval.
"Of course, sweetie. Rick is a good name, isn't it?" You said, glancing down at Dean who nodded.
"I think Rick is a mighty fine name." Your father suddenly said, walking out the front door with Judith in his arms.
"Of course, you do. You're bias." You replied quietly over your shoulder before looking back at Ricky. "You boys should head to school before you're late."
Dean quickly grabbed his brothers backpack before racing down the porch steps and jogging over to him. Ricky grabbed the bag, slinging it over his shoulders before they both waved goodbye as they walked down the street.
"Have a good day!" You shouted after them.
You leant back against the porch railing and watched your boys until they disappeared around the corner in the direction of school.
"Are you able to watch Judith? I gotta talk with Tobin and the others before doing the test run." Rick suddenly said, walking over to you.
"Of course."
He handed you the little girl who had gotten a lot bigger since you first arrived at Alexandria. Why were they all growing up so fast?
"Dixon’s, you good to head out in 20?" Rick asked, walking down the porch towards them and they both nodded.
"I'll go tell Abe and the others." Merle said, already making his way to the house next door.
Daryl continued to tinker away with his bike, and you finally got to enjoy some peacefulness with your morning coffee. Judith sat on your hip while you sipped away at your coffee enjoying the beautiful morning.
You sat down on the porch swing and bounced Judith on your knee. Your baby sister babbled away happily with not a care in the world. She had no idea what was going to happen tomorrow with the horde. So much could go wrong. So much could-
"Stop." Daryl's voice suddenly called out, snapping you from your thoughts.
He walked up the porch steps wiping grease from his hands before tucking the red rag into his back pocket and sitting down beside you.
"I can hear you thinkin'. Stop." He elaborated.
"I just have a bad feeling about this."
"It's gonna be fine. That's why Rick wants to do this test run today. If we find any issues with the plan, we will fix 'em before tomorrow."
Daryl pulled out a packet of cigarettes from his vest and lit one with his zippo before taking a deep drag. He exhaled the smoke with a turn of his head and held the burning cigarette away from Judith who was still in your lap and now fiddling with the dog tags around your neck.
"There's nothin' to worry 'bout." Daryl reassured.
You nodded, "I guess you're right.”
The two of you sat in comfortable silence with your coffee and cigarette while Judith cooed and babbled softly to herself. Once Daryl finished his cigarette he reached over and picked up Judith from your lap and held the little girl against his chest, and you weren't surprised when she fell asleep against him almost instantly.
"I kinda miss the boys being this small." He randomly commented.
You glanced over at him taking in Judiths sleeping form and Daryl’s warm smile as he rubbed her back soothingly.
"They look cute as babies, but at least now we don't have any diapers to change or 3am feedings with the boys." You pointed out.
"That stuff ain't so bag."
You raised your eyebrows, "yeah? I'll tell my dad that and he'll have you on diaper duty for Judith."
Daryl snorted softly and opened his mouth to respond, but didn’t get the chance.
"Ready to get this show on the road?" Abraham's voice called out.
You looked up to find the redhead and Merle walking out the house next door. Daryl sighed but stood up and you did as well before he gently handed Judith back to you, the little girl still fast asleep.
"I'll see you later. Be safe." You said, leaning over and placing a gentle kiss to his lips. "Carol's making a casserole for dinner. Try not to be late."
Daryl smiled, kissing you again before pulling away, his hand on your shoulder.
"Yes, ma'am."
You rocked Judith in your arms and watched Daryl join up with Merle and Abe before they walked away in the direction of the main gate where Rick and the others were no doubt waiting.
-
"I think Ron blames me for his father’s death. He hates me now." Jessie admitted with a heavy sigh.
You and Carol had decided to check in on Jessie after Pete's very public death recently. She was relieved that her abusive husband was dead, but her eldest son wasn't too happy.
"He'll come around." You reassured, not really knowing what else to say in this situation.
"How do you know?"
That was a good question.
You didn't know. You didn't know Jessie or Ron very well. But you had forgiven your father. The situations were drastically different, but if you could forgive Rick after spending over a decade hating him, you were sure Ron could forgive his mother.
"How do I know?" You repeated and Jessie nodded. "Because I used to hate Rick."
Jessie's eyes widened into saucers at your words, but you weren't going to tell her the details of that. It was none of her business and you and Rick had moved on.
"Why did you hate him? Rick is such a nice man. He's always so kind and helpful, and I know a few people are weary of him after he killed Pete, but don't worry, I'm not. Rick is a good man."
Right, you had forgotten about Jessie's massive crush on your father.
And now you remembered why you avoided hanging out with her. It felt like the real housewives whenever you hang out with her and the other mothers of Alexandria, all they did was gossip and talk about how attractive Rick Grimes was. You hated it.
"He is a good man, isn't he Y/N?" Carol responded, glancing over at you while hiding her smirk behind a coffee mug.
She knew you didn't like Jessie when she talked about your father. It was just weird listening to a woman gush and swoon over Rick like he was some kind of movie star.
You nodded, trying to play nice, "he is."
"He really is. You're both lucky to have him in your lives. I'll admit, I wasn't too sure of him when you all first showed up, but once he shaved that beard... oh, boy." Jessie continued to ramble, but you drained out her words and turned your attention to Judith who was playing with her toys on the carpet.
"Y/N?"
You looked up to find Jessie standing in the doorway. You hadn’t even realised that she got off the couch.
"I was just saying if Rick ever needs his hair cut, can you tell him that I'll be happy to do it?" She said with a bright smile before she walked out the room.
"I wonder why." You muttered under your breath.
Carol chuckled from the other couch, "give her a break. She just has a little crush on him."
"A little?"
"Okay. A big crush."
"It's gross." You responded.
Carol smirked, "it's entertaining."
"Well, I'm glad my uncomfortableness is entertaining for you." You said sarcastically.
Carol rolled her eyes before standing up from the couch and picking Judith up from the ground. "I'm gonna start making that casserole for dinner."
You quickly stood up too, "don't you dare leave me here with my dad’s wannabe lover."
"It'll be rude if we both just suddenly leave." Carol pointed out.
Yeah. That was true.
Jessie finally returned with a fresh cup of coffee but paused when she noticed you both standing.
"Sorry I-" Carol started to say but you cut her off.
"Sorry I need to go. Now that Pete is gone, it's just me and Denise with some form of medical background. I should go see how she's going. Bye."
You were out the door before either woman could say anything else. Was that rude? Probably. But if you had to sit there and deal with Jessie's over friendliness towards you just because of her crush on your dad, you would snap.
So, you began to make your way down the street because your excuse to leave was actually true. Neither you nor Denise were qualified to be a doctor, but you were the only choice Alexandria had.
You walked through the front door of the infirmary to find Denise sitting on the floor with an open book in her lap and thicker medical textbooks stacked up beside her.
"Hey. How are you doing?"
Denise looked up at your voice, pushing her glasses back in place as she gave you a tight smile.
"I'm okay... it's hard being the new doctor. I'm a little nervous." She admitted.
"I might not be as trained as you, but I still have some medical training and I'm always here to help."
Your words seemed to relax the other woman slightly as she closed the book in her lap and looked up at you properly.
"I'm a psychiatrist. I went to med school. I was even going to be a surgeon, but after the panic attacks I got really interested in psychology. Now I wish I had stuck to being a surgeon." She chuckled nervously. "I'm really trying to lower expectations here."
You smiled, "you and me both. But we can learn and get better together. What are you studying at the moment?"
"Veins and arteries." She answered, picking up the textbook. "Not very exciting."
"Well, let's make it exciting."
The next 30 minutes were spent sitting on the floor of the infirmary together studying the textbook about veins and arteries which, yeah, wasn't that exciting, but Denise appreciated the help.
Denise began writing a cheat sheet on a blackboard and you grabbed a piece of chalk to help her when sudden screaming erupted from outside.
"What the hell?" Denise questioned, looking up from the cheat sheet in confusion.
You were already on your feet and rushing to the window to see what was happening. Your mouth parted in a silent scream when you saw a man standing in the middle of the street cutting the limbs from a dead body on the road.
What the fuck?
A woman suddenly ran screaming from her house across the road, catching the man’s attention and you watched in horror as he threw the axe at her, the blade spearing straight through her chest. Another man marched out the very same house with a knife in his hand, no doubt the reason why she had been screaming in the first place and the man grinned when he saw her dead body.
Holy fuck.
Alexandria was under attack.
"What's going on out- Oh my God!" Denise shrieked, seeing the bodies across the street.
Both men spun around at her voice, and you quickly covered her mouth with your hand and pulled her down below the window out of sight. You held Denise in front of you, neither of you daring to speak. Denise kept her petrified eyes locked with yours and you slowly lowered your hand from her mouth before putting an index finger to your lips in a hushing motion.
Denise nodded ever so slightly before you lifted your head and peaked out the window to find both men marching towards the infirmary. You quickly reached for your knife, but nothing was there.
Looking down you came to the horrible realisation that you had forgotten to put your weapons belt on this morning. It was still sitting on the desk in your bedroom. You hadn’t even thought about it, hell, if you were being honest, you probably hadn’t worn it for a while. You had become complacent in Alexandria. Too complacent.
You spared a quick glance to the front door but knew there wasn’t enough time to lock it.
Shit.
"They're coming. I need a weapon." You whispered, your eyes frantically scanning the room for anything you could use before Denise grabbed a scalpel off the bench beside her.
"I-I can't fight. I don't know how.”
You took the tool from her and stood up, ushing her across the room, "hide in the back room. Use the scissors on the desk and stab anyone who enters. Got it?"
You didn’t wait for her to answer before you closed the door, shutting her away safely before you ducked down behind one of the gurneys just as the front door slammed open.
The men slowly entered, surveying the room as they walked around. You watched their boots from under the gurney, the scalpel gripped tightly in your hand.
"Come out, come out, wherever you are. We know you're in here."
One of them began walking in your direction and you raised the scalpel in front of you defensively. Just as the man stepped past the gurney, you stabbed the blade through his thigh, sliding it in deep to hit the artery.
The man shouted in pain, and you yanked the scalpel out, relieved when blood instantly started to gush from the wound. You jumped to your feet and sprinted across the room away from him and only just managed to duck out the way when his axe came flying through the air. It whizzed past your head and imbedded into the wall behind you with a loud bang.
The man began to rush towards you, but only made it a few steps before his body collapsed to the ground from blood loss, his entire pant leg stained a deep crimson.
The commotion caught the other guy’s attention because he walked out the small room he had been searching and froze when he saw his friend lying on the floor in a pool of his own blood. His dark eyes flashed over to you and his expression hardened.
"You're fucking dead."
You spun around and grabbed the wooden handle of the axe to pull it from the wall, but it was stuck. You could hear the man getting closer behind you as you pulled and yanked at the axe, but it wouldn't budge.
His footsteps thundered behind you, and you ducked to the left and turned to face him just as the man swung his knife but missed and stumbled forward from the momentum of the swing not expecting you to dodge it. You slashed the scalpel across his throat and jumped backwards trying to put some distance between you.
The man opened his mouth, but no words came out as he grabbed his neck just as blood began to flow from the thin but lethal cut. He gasped and choked, blood seeping between his fingers at his failing attempt to stop the flow, and within a minute, he was dead on the floor.
You quickly knelt and pried the knife from his hand before stabbing the blade through his skull to stop him from turning.
"Denise, it's all clear. You can come out!" You shouted, walking over to the other guy who was now also dead, and you stabbed his head too.
The door to the back room creaked open and Denise hesitantly stepped out with the scissors gripped in her hand tightly. Her eyes flashed between you and the dead bodies in pure shock.
"How-how did you do that?" She stuttered.
"Femoral artery." You said pointing at the first guy before pointing to the other. "And carotid arteries. Turns out that textbook was actually useful."
Denise just stared at you in shock before shaking her head and letting out a hysterical laugh. You smiled, laughing with her. Nothing about this was even remotely funny, but you couldn't help it.
"Do you think there's more?" She asked once she managed to stop laughing.
Your stomach dropped.
The boys.
The clock on the wall told you that school was finished for the day. Where would your kids be?
"I have to find my kids."
"What do I do?"
"Stay here. Lock the door behind me." You instructed and Denise nodded following you to the front door. "I'll come back as soon as I can."
"Go. Be careful." She replied, giving you a nervous smile before you walked out the door and she hurriedly locked it behind you.
You ducked around the side of the infirmary and jogged around the back of Alexandria along the fence line behind the houses, using the buildings as cover compared to the open main street. People were still screaming, and you wanted to help them, but not until you knew your boys were safe. They were the only things that mattered.
Suddenly a crash boomed across the community and the tall wall beside you shuttered before a very loud horn sounded and didn't turn off.
Where the hell was that coming from?
You didn't get long to wonder what was happening because the next thing you knew, your body was slammed into the metal wall, hard. You threw your arm back, trying to stab whoever was attacking you, but they knocked the weapon from your grasp.
The person spun you around, your back now pinned to the wall and you came face to face with a 'W' scarred into the man’s forehead.
Wait... Daryl told you about the people that jumped him and Aaron during their last run out the walls, he said they had W's on their heads. This had to be them.
The man in front of you snarled, exposing his crooked yellow teeth before his hands wrapped around your neck tightly.
He lifted your body until your feet weren’t touching the ground, your back pressed against the wall behind you. The fingers around your throat were like a vice getting tighter and tighter by the second.
The horn was still blasting loudly in the background, drowning out the screams of civilians and you stared at the scarred W, thinking this was the end.
-
Daryl hadn't been expecting to lead a horde of walkers away from Alexandria today.
The test run had turned into the real thing when one of the trucks blocking the horde in the quarry tipped over and that was all it took for the horde to spill out.
The plan was simple enough. He just had to ride his bike alongside Merle and Abraham in their car, leading the horde down the main road in the opposite direction of Alexandria. The others were going to be on either side of the horde, stopping any stragglers from wandering off and leading the horde away from the road.
It was a simple plan.
So how the fuck did it go so wrong?
Daryl had no idea, but there was shouting and commotion coming from the walkie talkie strapped to his shoulder and he had no clue what was going on.
"Rick!" He shouted into the walkie, raising his voice above the loud rumble of his bike's engine and growls from the dead behind him.
"I'm here."
"What's goin' on back there?"
"Half of them broke off. They're going toward Alexandria." Rick responded through the walkie.
Daryl's heart skipped a beat. Half of the walkers were now heading towards Alexandria? Towards his wife and kids? How did half the horde suddenly turn back around in the opposite direction?
"Towards you?" Abraham's voice questioned over the radio.
"We ran ahead. There's a horn or something loud coming from the east. It's not stopping."
Daryl reached for the walkie on his shoulder and held in the button before shouting, "I'm gonna gas it up, turn back."
"We have it. You keep going." Rick ordered.
Daryl gritted his teeth and shook his head. No, he couldn't just keep going, not when his family were in danger.
"They're gonna need our help." He said instead.
"Gotta keep the herd moving!" Rick insisted over the radio.
"Not if it's goin' down, we don't!"
"The rest of that herd turns around, the bad back there gets worse."
Daryl kept his hand on the walkie, but remained silent as a million different thoughts and scenarios ran through his head and he had absolutely no idea what to do. Rick always called the shots and Daryl usually agreed, but not with this. Not when you and the boys were back in Alexandria where half the herd were heading.
"Daryl?" Rick called through the radio.
"Yeah, I heard ya." He reassured before dropping his hand with a heavy sigh.
He glanced over his shoulder at the herd of walkers behind him before looking over at his brother in the passenger seat of the car. Merle was already looking straight at him with a shake of his head, knowing exactly what Daryl wanted to do.
He rode the bike over closer to the car, "hey! We gone five miles out yet?"
"Give or take some yardage. You got a reason for asking?" Abraham questioned, glancing over at him from behind the wheel.
Merle was still shaking his head, but Daryl chose to ignore it.
"Next intersection we're gonna spin around 'n go back."
"We have our orders, baby brother." Merle reminded. "The plan is to go 15 more."
"Yeah, I'm gonna change that. Five's gonna have to work."
"The magic number's 20. That's the mission. That's making sure they're off munching on infirm raccoons the rest of their undead lives instead of any of us." Abe responded sternly.
"You wanna go, ain't no way we can stop ya. But without you, they could stop us." Merle pointed out, motioning towards the dead behind them. "Y/N can take care of herself. Alexandria will be fine."
Daryl glanced between the two men in the car for a moment before focusing back on the road ahead, deep in thought.
What the hell was he meant to do?
He couldn’t just not do anything when his wife and kids were going to be in danger. And why was a horn honking near Alexandria? Something was definitely wrong, he could feel it in his gut, but he couldn't just leave his brother and Abraham to do this by themselves, could he?
He remained silent, riding the bike for another minute beside the car when his eyes caught a glimpse of an old, faded Alexandria sign on the side of the road from the old days, and that was all the convincing he needed.
"Nah, I got faith in ya!" Daryl shouted, sparing one last glance at his brother and Abraham before he turned the throttle and sped off down the road.
"Daryl!" Merle yelled, but he was already gone.
-
The man’s bruising grip around your neck was getting tighter. Your vision was starting to fade as you tried and failed to pry his fingers away.
You were going to die. This was it.
"Get away from our mum, asshole!"
A gunshot cracked through the air and the man choking you instantly released you with a cry of pain.
Without him holding you up, you collapsed to the ground on your hands and knees gasping and coughing trying to get air back into your lungs as you grabbed your tender neck.
“Touch her again, I shoot you again.” A familiar voice warned.
Your head snapped up so fast you nearly gave yourself whiplash. But standing off to the left was Ricky with a handgun drawn and Dean beside him with his slingshot raised.
Holy shit.
The big man that had been choking you was standing to the side holding his now bleeding arm, but his hard eyes were locked in on Ricky. You reached blindly for your knife that you had dropped earlier just as the man began to charge straight at the kids.
“NO!” You screamed jumping to your feet just as Ricky squeezed the trigger.
The man stumbled back a step grabbing his chest before dropping to the ground, dead.
Ricky killed him.
You quickly picked up your knife from the grass before stabbing him through the skull to make sure he didn’t turn.
"Mama!" Dean called, rushing over and before you could do anything, he flung his arms around your midsection and hugged you tightly.
You sighed with relief and hugged him back before glancing over at Ricky who was still standing there with a trembling gun pointed at the dead man.
You released Dean and slowly walked over to Ricky. His eyes were wide and hands shaking while he stared down at the dead body in pure shock.
“Hey. Hey. It’s okay. Give me the gun.” You said gently, carefully reaching down and grabbing the top of the Glock before slowly pulling it out of Rickys grasp. “That’s it. It’s okay. We’re all okay.”
Ricky nodded, his wide eyes finally shifting away from the body until bright blue met your hazel eyes.
“I shot the hell out of that guy, huh?”
You snorted softly at his choice of words before kneeling in front of him and grabbing his shoulder with your free hand.
“You did the right thing, kiddo. You saved us.”
“I just did what dad and Grandpa would’ve done.” Ricky mumbled, shrugging his shoulders like he was trying not to make this a big deal.
It was a big deal though.
He just killed his first person. It was a huge deal, and if the way his body trembled a little in your hold told you anything, he knew it too. Although, like a true Dixon, he wasn’t going to say it.
"Are you okay?" Ricky asked, his eyes shifting down to your neck that was probably already starting to bruise.
You nodded looking both boys in front of you up and down for any injuries, but they seemed to be okay.
"I'm fine. Are you both okay?"
Ricky nodded, glancing over at his little brother, "we're good."
“Where did you get the gun?”
“Rosita.”
“Rosita?” You repeated in confusion and Ricky nodded. “Where is she now?”
“Fighting. She gave me the gun and told us to run and hide.”
"Why are they attacking Alexandria?" Dean asked, glancing over at the dead body.
"Because they are bad men. Really bad men. So, I need you both to be brave for me, okay?"
They instantly nodded before you stood back up and walked over to the dead man. You went through his pockets trying to find anything useful before locating a pocketknife.
Better than nothing.
"Dean, here. To open the pocketknife, you flick the blade open with your thumb just like this.” You demonstrated, holding the knife out and opening it in front of him. “To close it, you do this. So, open, like this. And close like this. Here you try.”
Dean quickly tucked his slingshot in through his belt and grabbed the pocketknife before repeating your actions to open and close the knife with ease.
“Perfect. Good boy. If you have to use it, stab 'em with the pointy end." You instructed and Dean nodded before you held your hunting knife out to Ricky who took it without hesitation. “You okay?” You asked carefully, knowing that killing a man wasn’t easy, especially for a kid.
“I’m good. What’s the plan?” Ricky asked, determination on his face.
“We're going to our house. We’ll be moving quickly and quietly, so stick to me like glue."
"Like glue." They both repeated.
You nodded, "c'mon."
To your relief, the boys listened and were right behind you with each step as you rushed around the back of Alexandria in the direction of your house.
Not even 10 steps later, you ducked down behind a cluster of bushes, pulling your sons down beside you when a man with a machete stepped out the back door of a house.
Droplets of blood beaded down the stained blade while the man stormed around the side of the house, heading for the main road completely oblivious to you three hiding nearby.
The boys remained silent beside you, their wide eyes watching the bad man nervously and once he was out of sight you motioned for them to follow before continuing to make your way to your house.
Ricky and Dean followed you like shadows all the way to the house and you opened up the back door only to be met with a barrel of a rifle.
"Easy. Easy. It's me." You hurriedly said, raising your hands as you looked over the gun at your brother.
His eyes widened and he quickly lowered it before stepping to the side letting you three into the house. You locked the back door behind you before glancing around the house, realising that Carl was alone.
"Where are the others?"
"Judith is locked in her room. Carol is out there somewhere, and Dads group isn't back yet." Carl answered.
Shit. Okay. That meant most of Alexandria’s fighters weren't here.
Carol, Maggie, Rosita, Tara and Aaron. Were they the only others left in the town that could fight? Surely there were others that could fight. There had to be.
"Okay. You boys stay inside, guard the house and protect Judith." You ordered.
Carl nodded, "nobody is getting inside this house."
"Wait, you're not going back out there, are you?" Dean asked in sudden panic.
"That woman nearly killed you." Ricky reminded.
"I have to go. These attackers don't have guns, so I can't let them find the armoury." You explained because if these people found all the guns, the community was screwed.
"Then I'll come with you." Ricky responded.
"No. You need to stay here. Give me the knife and take this.” You said, holding out the Glock towards him.
“But you need it.”
“I’ll get a gun from the armoury. Take it. Protect Judith and protect each other, okay?"
Your eldest looked like he wanted to argue further but realised now was not the time, so he reluctantly nodded trading the knife for the Glock before you glanced over at Carl.
"We got this." Your brother insisted. "Go."
"Lock it behind me." You instructed, walking through the back door once again.
You didn't leave until you heard the click of the bolt confirming that the door was locked.
The armoury was priority number one.
You needed to secure the armoury, get a gun and then find the others. One-on-one against these guys would be bad but if you were together, you'd stand a chance.
The loud honking had finally stopped, but you barely noticed while you ran along the side of the house, peaking out into the main street.
There were a few attackers running around with various melee weapons, but none had any guns. Good.
Once the attackers had turned their backs, you sprinted along the side of the street while they weren’t looking. You ducked and weaved out of trees and bushes for cover until someone suddenly stepped out from behind a porch and yanked you behind the porch steps.
You raised your knife to attack the person, but then they quickly lowered the bandana from their face and removed the black hood over their head.
"Carol?" You whispered in shock.
She was wearing their clothes and had W painted on her forehead with what looked to be blood. She was camouflaging with them. Genius.
"It's me. Here."
She pulled out a scoped rifle from her shoulder which you quickly grabbed, pulling the bolt back to check the chamber before throwing it over your shoulder with the strap.
"You went to the armoury?" You asked as she pulled out a handgun and handed it over as well.
"Yeah, it's secure. Olivia is locked inside with a gun to shoot anyone who tries to enter." She explained like she could read your mind. "There's not many left. Morgan doesn’t want to kill them, but you can."
Wait, Morgan was back? Why was he back and not the others?
"You can count on me." You replied, figuring those questions could wait.
Carol handed over spare magazines which you hastily pocketed before a scream across the street caught your attention.
You leant out from behind the porch step and quickly pulled the rifle from your shoulders when you spotted a woman sprinting from a man with a knife.
Holding the butt of the gun securely against your shoulder, you lined up the crosshairs of the scope with the man before aiming slightly in front of him and squeezing the trigger.
"Nice shot." Carol observed from beside you as the man's body fell to the ground, dead. "I can blend in with these people, but I need you up high with that sniper. Can you do that?"
You glanced up at the house behind you noting the upstairs window. That would work.
"Give me a minute to get into place and I'll be your sniper."
Carol nodded before you jumped to your feet and rushed up the porch steps into a stranger’s house. You had no idea whose house this was, but it didn't matter. Nobody was inside and within a minute, you had the window open on the second floor with the sniper raised.
Carol was still hidden by the porch steps waiting for you to get into position. You weren't entirely sure how to signal to her that you were ready, but when you spotted another attacker across the street, you lined up the sights and fired a shot.
The man, like the other, instantly fell to the ground, dead.
A few seconds later, Carol dashed across the street and stabbed her knife into the two men you had just killed, hitting their brains so they couldn't come back to life.
You watched Carol through the scope as she made her way around the community camouflaging in with the attackers and stabbing them when they least expected it, and the ones that fought back, you easily shot.
She was badass. No other word for it.
During your time in Alexandria, Carol had been playing the 'innocent housewife' she had the whole community of Alexandria fooled into thinking that she was a weak defenceless woman, but you knew the truth, and despite the situation, it was nice to see her in action.
You pulled the bolt back, ejecting the empty bullet shell just when you caught a glimpse of Aaron fighting with a man down beside a house further down the road.
Actioning the bolt, you loaded a bullet in the chamber before lining up the crosshairs over the bad guy’s head, but you couldn't pull the trigger, not when Aaron was in the line of fire. He continued to fight against the man, but it was a losing battle, and he clearly knew it too.
Aaron took a swing at his attacker causing the bad man to stumble back a step at the unexpected hit and that was all you needed before you squeezed the trigger. The gunshot rung out across the community and the man fell to the ground with a bullet hole through his head.
Aaron jumped backwards in surprise, his wide eyes scanning his surroundings trying to locate where the gunshot had come from before he spotted you up in the window and he nodded his thanks. You gave him a two fingered salute before actioning the bolt again and scanning Alexandria through the scope.
-
"Glenn. I'm in place by my best guess. You guys make it back yet?" Ricks voice suddenly said through the radio, followed by silence. "Glenn? Tobin, you there?"
Daryl's bad feeling from earlier was worsening by the second when the others stopped responding through the radio.
"Daryl?" Rick said after a few beats of silence.
He reached for the radio with his free hand, "I'm here."
"Won't be long now." Rick explained, relief evident through his tone after someone replied to him. "They're almost here. I'll get them going your way again."
"How 'bout that, brother? He's gonna be comin' our way." Merles cocky voice suddenly said over the radio and Daryl fought the urge to roll his eyes.
"There's gunfire coming from back home." Rick suddenly said.
Daryl squeezed the brakes so hard, he nearly crashed the bike as he came to a sudden halt in the middle of the road.
"What?!" He shouted into the radio.
"There's gunfire coming from Alexandria." Rick repeated calmly. "We gotta sit with it and hope they can handle it. I think they can. They have to."
"And if they can't? Y/N is in Alexandria, Rick!" Daryl all but shouted.
"I know. But we have to keep going forward for her, for them all. Can't turn back 'cause we're afraid."
"We ain't afraid." Abraham's voice pipped up.
"Going back now before it's gone, that'd be for us." Rick continued to say.
"Man, I don't give a shit. My wife 'n kids are in trouble." Daryl snapped, unable to hold back his anger any longer as he tapped the bike into gear and sped off down the road.
He couldn't risk losing them. Not now. Not after everything you guys had survived. He couldn't. He wouldn't survive if they didn't. No way.
"You think I don't know that?!" Rick snapped back. "She might be your wife, but Y/N is my daughter. She's my little girl. I hate this as much as you do. Carl and Judith are back there too, but we have to do this for them. Y/N and the others can handle whatever is going on. I know my daughter can do it and she will. Look, the herd has to be almost here-"
Ricks voice got cut off by sudden gunfire through the walkie talkie and Daryl hastily grabbed the walkie from his shoulder, heart pounding in his chest.
"Rick? Rick?!"
When he didn't receive any answers, he skidded the motorcycle to a rapid halt in the middle of the road once again.
"Rick? Rick? Rick?" He continued to shout, but no answer.
He growled letting go of the walkie and grabbing both handlebars. His fingers tightened around them as he lowered his head and took in a few deep breaths to calm himself.
He had to go back. He had to finish the job and help lead the remaining horde away.
"Fuck!" He screamed in frustration before pulling the clutch in and turning around.
-
You had lost count of the number of bad guys you had shot, but by the amount of bullet casings on the floor by your feet, it was a lot.
There was no sign of anymore bad guys though. The streets of Alexandria below were finally quiet. No more screaming, no crying, no horn honking, nothing.
Was it over?
God, you hoped it was over.
Throwing the rifle over your shoulder, you stood up from your position by the window before making your way downstairs and out the house.
You walked down the main street of Alexandria with your handgun grasped firmly by your side as you took in the sight around you. Dead bodies of innocent Alexandrians littered the empty street like a massacre. The bodies of the attackers laid dead around you too, blood staining the bitumen road and once green grass of the community.
It felt like you were in a scene from a horror movie while you stepped over the dead, stabbing them all through the skulls just to be on the safe side.
"Help-help me, p-please." A weak voice suddenly called out.
Your head snapped to the side and your eyes widened when you saw one of the Alexandrian housewives laying on their front lawn in a pool of their own blood.
Fuck, that wasn't good.
You rushed over, dropping to your knees beside the woman to find a very large gash across her stomach that was bleeding heavily, too heavily. The woman reached up, grabbing your shirt for dear life, her bloodied fingers staining your white shirt a bright crimson.
"It's okay. I got you. It's okay." You reassured, pulling your unzipped jacket off before bundling it up and pressing it down against her stomach causing the woman to cry out in pain. "Shh. It's going to be fine. You're going to be fine."
That was a total lie, and she probably knew it too.
There was too much blood. Even if you could get her to the infirmary, her entire stomach was cut open and there was no way you nor Denise would be able to do that kind of surgery to fix it.
Her body was trembling below you, but you kept pressure on the large wound because you weren't sure what else to do. Although, after a couple of minutes her fingers fell from your shirt and her body stilled.
She was dead.
"Shit." You let out a shaky sigh, dropping your hands from the bloodied jumper against her stomach.
Warm blood dripped from your fingers onto the grass as you sat there on your knees unmoving while you stared down at her.
"She's gone." Morgan's voice suddenly said.
Yeah, no shit.
You glanced over your shoulder to find the man walking over to you, his wooden staff resting on his shoulder.
"I know." You sighed, "where are the others? What happened?"
"The trucks at the quarry fell. We had to do the plan now."
"Now? As in move the horde now?" You questioned in pure shock, and he nodded. "But that horn from earlier-"
"Is drawing half the herd here, right now. Yes."
"Fuck." You hissed under your breath. "What caused the horn?"
"A truck hit the front wall. Those attackers tried to break it down. It didn't work."
"Is the wall still standing?"
"It is." He nodded, and you sighed with relief.
If half that herd of walkers was heading straight for Alexandria, you needed that wall up. Although, you weren't entirely sure how useful any of these walls would be against a large herd. If enough of them pushed against it, it would break.
You slowly stood up on unsteady feet. All your adrenaline from earlier disappearing fast as the shock of this whole situation started to set in.
"Are you okay?" Morgan asked, noticing your unsteadiness.
Nope.
"Yeah."
Daryl, Rick and Merle were still out there somewhere. The street of Alexandria was covered in dead bodies. A herd of walkers were heading straight for the community. No, you definitely weren't okay.
"I gotta go." You said, already walking off in the direction of the infirmary.
There wasn't much you could do for the dead, but you could at least help Denise with the injured. However, when you stepped through the front door of the infirmary you realised that there weren’t any patients inside, alive ones at least.
Denise was halfway through covering a woman’s body with a blanket over one of the gurneys when she paused and looked up, hearing the front door open.
Her eyes were glossy with unshed tears, but seemed to be determined to not let them fall as she gave you a sad smile and lowered the blanket over the blonde woman’s head.
"Is it over?" Denise asked, her voice so small you nearly missed it.
"It's over." You confirmed.
She sighed with relief before collapsing down on the stool by the bench that Tara was sitting at.
"How many are injured? I can help you guys-" Tara started to say before you cut her off.
"None. All the ones that were injured are dead. I tried to save... it doesn't matter." You sighed, looking down at your bloodstained shirt and hands.
"Some doctors we are." Denise mumbled, glancing over at the body under the blanket.
"At least you guys tried to save them. I mean, Holly had pretty bad wounds, there wasn't much you could do Denise, and Y/N, by the amount of blood on your shirt, I'm guessing there wasn't a lot you could do either, but you both still tried. That's gotta count for something." Tara insisted, looking between you both.
"I second that fact. You both are a lot braver than I am." Eugene said, speaking up for the first time across the room.
If you were being honest, you hadn't even realised the man was here which was probably very bad on your part, but it had been a long day.
Satisfied that your assistance wasn't needed in the infirmary, you returned back outside to find Michonne and a few of the others now inside Alexandria. But the relief of seeing them was only short lived.
After a brief conversation with Michonne, it was clear that the plan from earlier with the herd at the quarry went to shit. A lot of people died. Glenn and a few others were still missing. Daryl, Merle and Abraham were still trying to lead the main herd away with vehicles while Rick was out there somewhere trying to use the RV to drive the herd coming to Alexandria away.
It was chaos, and there was nothing you could do to help.
"Glenn will find a way to signal that he's alive." Michonne told Maggie.
"She's right." You backed up, looking between the two women. "He'll be fine. They all will be."
Maggie gave you a small smile as she nodded, but you could tell she was still worried. Hell, so were you, but you didn't want to say that aloud.
You wandered over to the ladder tied against the watch platform before you began to climb up to get a look at the truck that had apparently crashed into the front wall.
There was a large wooden tower-like structure just outside of Alexandria. It provided a good lookout point for the community. You had been up there many times, and it appeared that the truck the attackers were driving had crashed into the lower base of the tower before hitting the wall.
The tower now had a large crack through the middle of it but was still standing and must have slowed the truck down enough before it hit the wall because there wasn't much damage.
You had been expecting to find metal panels bent in or worse, fallen over, but the wall's structure was perfectly fine which was a miracle in itself.
"Open the gate!" A faint yet familiar voice shouted in the distance.
You turned your attention away from the tower and your jaw dropped in horror when you saw the mass number of walkers in the distance heading straight towards Alexandria.
Oh, no.
"Open the gate! Open the gate now!" Rick's voice shouted.
Wait, was he with the herd?
You quickly pulled the rifle from your back and looked through the scope towards the walkers and your stomach dropped when you spotted your father sprinting a few paces ahead of the herd, desperately trying to get to Alexandria before the dead.
"Open the gate!" You shouted, lowering the gun and looking down at Michonne and Maggie, who seemed to have already heard your fathers’ shouts and were yanking the front gate open.
Raising your rifle, you rested your head against the stock while looking through the scope towards your father only to find that a few walkers had stumbled out from the sides of the road, cutting him off.
Shit.
Without hesitation, you lined up the walkers and began to take them out one by one, creating a clear path for him to run. Rick spared a quick glance up at the watch platform noticing it was you with the rifle before he stopped trying to dodge the oncoming walkers, trusting you to take them out while he simply focused on running for his life.
The sudden pressure caused your finger to tremble against the trigger, but you made sure every single shot counted. You took the walkers down until your father finally sprinted through the front gate and the girls closed it behind him.
You let out a shaky sigh of relief, ejecting the last casing from the chamber before throwing the rifle over your shoulder and hurriedly rushing down the ladder of the watch platform.
Rick was hunched over by the gate, his hands resting on his knees as he breathed heavily, sucking in fast deep breaths. His body was trembling and covered in sweat like he had just run a marathon to get here which he probably did.
His left hand was bleeding from what appeared to be a cut on his palm, but other than that he didn't appear to have any other physical injuries.
"Dad, are you okay?" You questioned, rushing over.
Your voice had him lifting his head instantly and he stumbled a few steps towards you before he wrapped his arms around you, hugging you desperately.
"Thank God. Thank God. Thank God." He mumbled repeatedly while breathing heavily.
The hug caught you off guard, but you were quick to hug him back as you stared over his shoulder at the front gate where you were met with the rotten faces of walkers pressed against it, trying to get inside.
The sea of the dead had now reached Alexandria.

things that I overlooked in PJO the first time / small, funny things I noticed during my reread
Part 2: Sea of Monsters
there is a lot this time.
this book is so short and it makes up for the length by being hilarious:
I had nightmares about what Poseidon might turn me into if I were ever on the verge of death - plankton, maybe. Or a floating patch of kelp.
Tyson froze. "Pony!" he cried in total rapture. Chiron turned looking offended. "I beg your pardon?"
"Um..." I said. "Would this be the super-dangerous prophecy that has me in it, but the gods have forbidden you to tell me about it? Nobody answered. "Right," I muttered. "Just checking."
"Uh, I like Hercules." "Why?" "Well, because he had rotten luck. Even worse than mine. It makes me feel better."
Annabeth looked at me. "We have to get out of here." "You think I want to be in the girls' restroom?" "I mean the ship, Percy! We have to get off the ship."
Tyson was terrified of them. All throughout the tour, he insisted Annabeth hold his hand, which she didn't look too thrilled about.
"Then why do the gods even let me live? It would be safer to kill me." "You're right." "Thanks a lot."
A minute later, Annabeth hit a slippery patch of moss and her foot slipped. Fortunately, she found something else to put it against. Unfortunately, that something was my face.
As Luke was raising his sword to rally his troops, a centaur shot a custom-made arrow with a leather boxing glove on the end. It smacked Luke in the face and sent him crashing into the swimming pool. and a few moments later: He [Luke] raised his sword, but got smacked in the face with another boxing glove arrow, and sat down hard in a deck chair. Luke can't catch a break from those boxing arrows, it's the funniest thing
2. also so much baby percabeth!! they’re so cute
She'd [Annabeth] emailed me the picture after spring break, and every once in a while I'd look at it just to remind myself she was real and Camp Half-Blood hadn't just been in my imagination. the fact that he printed out Annabeth's photo?
Annabeth punched him in the nose and knocked him flat, "And you," she told him, "lay off my friend." her standing up for Percy is adorable
I mean she [Annabeth] looked good. Really good. I probably would've been tongue-tied if I could say anything except reet, reet, reet.
She [Annabeth] started to sob - I mean horrible, heartbroken sobbing. She put her head on my shoulder and I held her. Fish gathered to look at us - a school of barracudas, some curious marlins. Scram! I told them. They swam off, but I could tell they went reluctantly. I swear I understood their intentions. They were about to start rumours flying around the sea about the son of Poseidon and some girl at the bottom of Siren Bay. number 1. the way percy is always there for her, number 2. the gossiping fish?? I love it
The look in his [Grover] eyes told me something was terribly wrong. Annabeth had been on guard duty that night, protecting the Fleece. If something had happened -he’s admirably protective, of not just annabeth, but all his friends and I love to see it… exhibit b:
"But if I [Grover] get in trouble again, you'll be in danger, Percy! You could die!" "If you get in trouble again, I want to know about it. And I'll come help you again G-man. I wouldn't have it any other way." I adore their friendship.
3. other mentions:
"I'm Thalia," the girl said. "Daughter of Zeus." what. an. ending. I still remember how floored I was when I first read this wow
the mention of Hylla got me so excited
am I the only one who forgot Percy could control the sailboat? like the flying ropes and whatnot
I also completely forgot about his watch shield!
I'll be back for part 3 shortly! :)
