For anyone who missed it, this is the official trailer for book 2 of The Genesis Chronicles, Whitney's Autumn. Available now on Amazon, AppleBooks, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, and many more.
I just found a quote on Tumblr from an amazing speech given by Naomi Klein in 2015. Go read and come back. I’ll wait.
I’m just starting to wake up to the idea of neoliberal individualism and I’m shaken because I buy into this concept so hard. It’s hard to see past what mother culture has been telling me for the past 20 years. This is the truth: our actions as individuals are meaningless. Life is too big and too powerful to be changed by the actions of one person. Only by acting together can we hope to make or enact any change.
This just fucks everything up for me. So much of my political activism has been personal because I feel like that’s the only control I have over anything. To tear down that ideal means, in turn, that I have no control. And while I knew this in theory, it still feels like pulling a band-aid off a bit too fast.
And I think I’ve known this for a while which is why I’ve been thinking and writing about community so much: because I know that I need community in order to make lasting change. Individually I can choose local food sources; as part of a community I can make local food available to everyone. Individually I can thrift for my material needs; as part of a community we can swap, reuse, and share to meet our collective material needs. Individually I can read about anarchist theory; as part of a community I can contribute to collective mutual aid and build according to the needs of the community, learning to live communally. Worker co-ops, unions, collectives, community gardens: this is what we need. Homesteading and unschooling might be great actions for my individual family, but we sure as heck aren’t changing the world from where I’m standing right now.
I haven’t figured anything out about what this means for me (as an individual, haha). I think maybe it means that I have to change where I’m putting my time and energy. I think it means that I need to find more people to connect with. But I’m not sure how.
#Repost @meatfreemafia (@get_repost) ・・・ ***LINK TO MY LETTER TO FBI IN BIO*** I have been meaning to talk about this for quite some time now, but wanted to make sure the letter was available for you all to read. Ever since my sister was killed about 12 years ago, I have had a strong interest in working for the FBI, so I stayed in contact with them and focused my career on building the qualities and skills they look for. Back in April 2016 I started the process to become a special agent and after many tests and interviews I received my conditional offer, which I initially accepted at the end of September 2016. As I was training for my next fitness test I started looking into the FBI archives and laws pertaining to animal rights. I already had some major reservations because of the political landscape, but my research into animal rights law caused me to decline the position and write a letter to the acting field agent for my city. Sometimes activism means going against something you have wanted for years only because you know in your heart that it is the wrong path to make a difference. The link to my letter is in my bio. Thank you to my good friend @inspirationalsouls_ for putting it up. #everydayactivism #doitfortheanimals #compassionoverkilling. #picoftheday #vegan #people
Good morning gorgeous and happy Friday 😊✨ This outfit I'm wearing is made of 100% natural fabric and thrifted 👌🏼💗 I am replacing all the unnatural synthetic fiber clothing in my wardrobe. I love fashion but the fashion industry is the SECOND LARGEST polluter in the world. Buying natural materials reduces my contribution to all the pollution. And Natural fabrics feel amazing on my skin! Synthetic fabrics like nylon, polyester shed hazardous microfibers into the air and water that we eventually ingest, and some even release toxic chemicals. When buying clothing- check the tag make sure it's natural. Natural fabrics include: cotton, cashmere, hemp, wool, and alpaca! Read my blog for more inspiration and a look at my natural clothing haul : www.Cult-Intuition.com linked on my page @thecyberwitch . . . . . #AndSheDopeToo #EverydayActivism #sustainableliving #healthymind #yogalove #yogilover #splits #flexible #starseed #vegansofig #fashion #ootd #sustainablefashion #fashionblogger #stylegram #likemylook #mixedbabies #gratitude #yogaeveryday #yogini #whatiwore #ecofriendly #yogachallenge #smile #happy #movementculture #thehappynow #fitnessinspiration #yogainspiration #healer

[わたしのゴミゼロの世界 - my Zerowastism -]Riho :530 Tumblr VOL.7

I found this lump of tar playing in the ocean. Felt something under my foot, and picked up what I hoped was an old sea rock... This little chunk of toxic tar is one piece of billions in the ocean right now. Experts estimate 1.3 million gallons of petroleum spill out from vessels and pipelines into the ocean every year! Maybe this came from the oil spill in Santa Barbara two years ago... Yup it's still here- and the animals in the sea are getting sick, covered in tar. I feel sad finding trash like this in our oceans when cleaner methods of energy are being developed everyday- yet for some reason people romanticize oil. This is why i fell in love with the process, the struggles, the silly frustrations that come from trying to live more sustainably, a little more focused on my everyday actions and how they impact our global environment. I believe I'm making a difference. At least I'm trying everyday. #GoGreen #sustainable #ecofriendly . . . . . . #EverydayActivism #ocean #beach #waves #healthyactivelifestyle #healthylifestyle #vegan #veganyogis #waterislife #mniwcomi #believe #dowhatyoulove #earthfocus #beautifuldestinations #iloveanimals #dolphins #whale #onebreathatatime #lovewhatyoudo #travelgram #lifeofadventure #inspiredyogis #explorecreatetakeover
"This is your home too". First day wearing this stellar shirt from Refugee Center Online, proclaiming in Farsi that this country welcomes! Already had two compliments from strangers on the street giddily proclaiming, "I LOVE YOUR SHIRT, THANK YOU!!!"
