I Ponder The Humble Blob Ghost!

You think they are what happens when you ALMOST but not quite A Ghost(tm)? Like, you have the ectoplasm and the will to continue... but you didn't really have A Thing in life? No Final Crystalizing Thought that brings focus? Just "ow! Ah! I'm scared. Don't wanna die!" And theeeeen.... *poof!*

Why am I Orb? Am squish? No bones.

Like? Remove any one piece of the Critical Formula and you get Blob instead of Ghost? Different KINDS, mind you, but blobs none the less.

Like Skulker! Not enough Ectoplasm. Ended up Blob. He CLEARLY had the Will, the Obsession, the gory end and unfinished business... buuuut? No green goo to power the creation of a full body. He clearly knows what he's supposed to LOOK like? But it's not something FIXABLE? Even with his now unlimited access to Ectoplasm.

Like in utero damage that permanently stunted his growth. HE is fine. All his facilities are on-line and checking in as they should, for the level of sentience expected of a ghost of his people. He just... smol. Same strength, intelligence, and power as he would have always HAD...

He just got handed a really, REALLY crap "customize your eternal meatsuit" option screen. Like for real guys. Basicly NO options. His salt is eternal and entirely justified. He could have had his tattoos. He paid a LOT of credits for those! Sat for DAYS! Had to track down this One(1) artist on this SHITTY little trading hub, that BARELY QUALIFIED as one, to sit in on uncomfortable overturned crate... IN A GAS MASK because the AIR SUPPORT KEPT KICKING IT... for hoooours!

It was a WORK OF ART. You would have CRIED.

This is BULLSHIT.

But wait, I hear you say, staring at the Blob ghost chewing on a lamp post. The one that has wii music playing behind the eyes. No thoughts, head jello, one might say. What about THEM?

Good point! Remember that formula?

LOT of Ecto! But THAT... might be either an animal or a fungus. We'd have to check. ANYTHING can and DOES die. If it's alive? It can die and potentially leave a ghost. But! Consider the noble Ghost Rabbit! *holds up squirming rabbit that is ABSOLUTELY trying to both bite me and kick me in the face* A noble and friendly creature!

THIS is what happens when an animal: has sufficient Ectoplasm at the death site, a reason to continue living (fairly common. It's usually their offspring, escape, the instinctual drive to survive itself or other understandable base drives. Like love, loyalty, or hunger.), and that all important High Emotions End.

Miss any of these? You get Blobbertson over there! He's clearly a hungry boy! But! Not very DRIVEN is he? Just floating along, chewing on whatever seems interesting, looking for a snack. He's food motivated. But not MOTIVATED motivated.

Blobbertson over there? A peaceful death. Too much Ectoplasm too leave, too food motivated in life NOT to carry over, but? No DRIVE. To DEFINE and DEMAND the Ectoplasm in his little body become sharp and active. No highly emotional state to stir it into action.

Is Blobbertson INCAPABLE of higher emotions? No. He is every bit as capable as the Ghost Rabbit that has savaged my hands and escaped while you were reading. It was, in fact, NOT as friendly as originally assumed. I may be bleeding. Unimportant. Blobbertson is PERFECTLY capable of getting attached. Being trained.

Whatever level of intelligence Blobbertson had in life, still remains. And WITH that? Comes the ability to improve and grow in death! IF (and this is the big one) he ever finds MOTIVATION to do so.

Because you see, Blobbertson is quite happy. No thoughts, brain jello. Drifting along in a happy green ocean like a jellyfish. Only concerned about his next snack. It's comforting. His food obsession filled, his tiny motivation barely enough to move him place to place.

He would GLADLY sit in one place and eat for the rest of eternity. Head blissfully silent.

And that's OKAY! It truly, honestly, is. Not everyone has to be conquers and kings, crafters and cosmonauts. Sometimes you just want to spend the rest of time playing in the sand. Resting on a sunshine-y hill. Not EVERY soul is a loud one.

This is the INFINITE Realms.

And there are places like Amity Park out there. THICK as cold honey with Ectoplasm in the air, gently infusing all the life that grows there with greater and greater chance of Ghost-hood. Even the peaceful blinking awake after that final rest to look down and... little nubby green paws.

Congratulations on becoming a Blob, grandma! Yes, I imagine you ARE furious it is inordinately difficult to knit like this. No, I don't think complaining to the king will help, MeMa.

That said? I can not tell you if Blob Ghost all belong to the same Family or the same Order, but they are NOT the same species! The WAY in which you fuck up that ever vital Fomula results in WILDLY different Blobs! Was it an animal? A sentient species? A sentient PLANET? A complexe interlocking colony of fungi? What was the EXACT Ectoplasm concentration at the death site? Was that the historical levels or the At Death levels? Was the individual under sedation?

Yes! All of this IS in fact, VERY relevant!

And you think it ends THERE? HA! The SKIES are FILLED with Fighty Mother Fuckers! Ghosts LOVE to fight! It's built into their social dynamics and hierarchy! Good ol brawls to get the Ecto pumping!

And THEN you look not even a mile east? And it's the floating island of Blobs. They LIKE that rock. It's just an ever shifting, accidentally rolling off the edge, falling slightly, making an offended squeek, and floating back to the top of the pile to repeate the process, MOOSH of thousands of blobs. No one's certain if they used to be seals or some sort of cat.

Apparently THAT island is Warm(tm).

So there they sit. Making contented noises, chirping and shoving for the best spots. They never leave. You can literally just... float up and sit on them. It's amazing. You gotta be careful not to get buried, but it's So Soft and bouncy? And they are ALL making that soft happy Blob vibrate noise. It's like a giant, island sized, warm and almost fuzzy but not, water bed that massages you.

Just DON'T start anything there! Holy SHIT are they territorial. You Will Die. They SWARM.

And THATS not even getting into the Blobs that are? Literally brainless. Some people eat those. Which? I guess? They ARE basicly Ectoplasm jello. But SOME of them are NOT? Like... it's a debate. Hot button issue, ya know?

Some fungus turns into Ecto Jello with negative IQ and delicious insides. Is this food? But OTHER fungus was SENTIENT in life and become a whole RANGE of Fungus ghosts, from Blob right on up to complexe dryad like ghosts! Clearly NOT food unless you are a MONSTER. But THEY argue the FIRST group are ALSO not food?

Plant Ghosts have strong opinions and are willing to Gruesome Violence about it.

Which brings us back to the Humble Blob Ghost! Check before you pet! That might be grandma! Or planning to eat your hand! Just as Mammal tells you little to nothing about what animal you are looking at, so too does Blob and Ghost! Stay safe out there! And if anyone sees a glowing green rabbit? I want my blood back! That's supposed to be in MY body! Rude!

pairing : sungchan x reader genre : fluffy roommates au <3 lil angst bc reader is really out here questioning their whole existence (js like me fr) cw/tw : sungchan spills coffeee + reader is freaking out a bit bc of feelings tm + minor swearing + use of caps wc : 1k !!!!!!!!!!!!! everyone cheer and clap for me !!!!!!!!!!!!!

'RING!!!'

you sit up at your desk with a start, head hitting the lamp that you had so thoughtfully adjusted to be right above earlier in the evening. as you check the alarm clock, it's.. 2.59 a.m. already?! shit.. the last you remembered it was barely 10.00 p.m. and you had just gotten ready for a "super intense cram session", to be able get at least a little ahead in preparations for your finals.

that totally worked out well huh?

as your still sluggish mind slowly catches up, you notice a shawl wrapped over your shoulders.. and that candle you'd lit had been blown out as well. hmm.

your suspicions are easily confirmed when you notice a little yellow piece of paper stuck to the wall with a simple "you got this ^^ ♡" on it.

before you're fully able to let yourself swoon at the thoughtfulness of your roommate - it would honestly not be an overstatement when you question how much of a saint you must've been in your past life to be graced with a roommate like him - you hear a concerning clatter from the kitchen which makes you immediately rush towards the source of the sound.

and there stands sungchan, scrambling around the drawers looking for something.. the puddle of steaming brown liquid, coffee probably, indicates that his search is most likely for a dishcloth.

you move up behind his now bent figure as he rummages through the lower drawers, as carefully as you can to pull out one and dangle it in front of him teasingly, "looking for something~?"

"i could've sworn that was not there before?? dude are you sure you're not some kind of sorceress in disguise looking to prey on pretty boys like me?" your close proximity doesn't seem to affect him in the slightest; you however very much are affected. which obviously means you'll yet again hide behind a safe fool proof technique : a teasing remark.

"pfft- is that the best you could come up with? rather basic, no? you need to up your game seriously - when i first moved in, didn't you accuse me of being an evil horticulturist because i got you flowers?"

"hey no you see that was totally valid and besides the jury is still considering that possibility"

"the jury?"

"mhm, the people who said they'll get back to me on r/horticulture."

you have to laugh at this but as you accept your defeat you flick sungchan's forehead slightly, and roll your eyes at his exaggerated whine.

the dishcloth in your hand suddenly brings you back to earth, you know, as compared to how rather over the moon you feel in his company, "wait catch me up on what happened here?"

"ah.. i was making you coffee. i don't support caffeine at uh 3 am usually but i know you really wanted to get done with some of those worksheets of yours so.."

there he goes being all thoughtful again. god sometimes you really don't even know how to form coherent replies when he shows his care for you so, so unabashedly.

"right yeah.. i appreciate that. but you really don't have to sungchan-"

he doesn’t have to. doesn’t have to make you coffee, doesn’t have to stay up for company when you’re pulling all-nighters, doesn’t have to cuddle with you during your pirated show binges, doesn’t have to hold your hand during late night grocery store runs, doesn’t have to share his mint-choco chip ice-cream, his favorite, with you when your spicy ramen starts getting a little too spicy, doesn’t have to comfort you when everything, everyone gets too overwhelming.

“i know. i’m not doing this because i have to - i want to do this for you… is there a problem with that?”

yes, you want to say, yes there is. he’s making you feel emotions you’ve only ever read about in webtoons and fanfictions, and you’re scared of that. you’re terrified of that. “feelings” never lead to a good outcome unless they’re overly romanticized in various media; and this is definitely not a romance novel; nor is this a kdrama. “feelings” lead to vulnerability, to rawness, to your heart being completely exposed, because it’s undeniable that the defenses you’ve worked to set up around it all your life will break down in a single instance, if he asked it of you. you know that.

“..no. of course not.”

sungchan’s face lights up with one of his trademark smiles then, as he directs you back to your room assuring you that he’ll be “right there with your coffee madam <3”

you’re unwilling to leave but you’re also unwilling to stay. you make your way to your desk, mind still a jumble of complicated thoughts, all revolving around him. it’s genuinely shocking how, despite having been in your life for such a short period of time, he’s somehow wedged himself completely and truly in your mind and heart.

“what’s on your mind hmm?” you find yourself in a similar position to merely 7 minutes ago in the kitchen, except this time it’s him with his arms moving around you to place your coffee mug on the table, diligent in taking care to avoid your laptop and notebooks.

“nothing much,” another safe, noncommittal response to hide behind, “feel kinda sleepy, still.”

“well, caffeine to the rescue!! but i would definitely suggest getting a few hours of rest.” he still hasn’t moved, his arms now resting on the wood, as he slightly tilts his head to look at you.

for once you decide to let yourself bask in the safety and comfort he exudes, overthinking and complications can, with all due respect, fuck themselves. “thank you, sungchan.” you’re unable to add in the ‘for everything’ so you can only hope he understands. you reach forward for the coffee, nose wrinkling slightly at noticing how hot it is.

and then. he leans in slightly till you can see your reflection in his warm, mocha-coloured eyes and inside you it’s as if 2 separate beings are desperately fighting for attention; one adamant on backing away as far as possible because it’s safe but the other yearning to pull him even closer. both beings are unfortunately unable to come to a conclusion, forcing you to rigidly stay fixed, not unlike a statue.

his voice is barely above a whisper when he goes, with all the devotion and affection you’d imagined in the gazes of every fictional crush you’ve ever had, “you drool when you sleep. it’s really cute.”

a gentle kiss to the tip of your nose and then he’s gone with some sort of a pleasantry but you’d be damned if you could remember even a word of it.

you blink. once, twice.

change of plans, then : instead of studying, you might need to pull out your softest, most sound absorbent pillow and scream into it, “jung sungchan. fuck. you.”

Shadow and Sonic or Shadow and Tails headcanons? 💞

Hell yeah, I am all over this ask. They are. My favorite guys ever. Here are some Shadow and Tails headcanons for youuuu

Tails and Shadow, my beloveds

No one expects Tails and Shadow to get close, but once they give it a bit of thought it actually makes a lot of sense

I mean they're both these mechanic loving introverts with somewhat mysterious pasts so it checks out

Definitely think Tails was afraid of Shadow in the beginning so it took a long time for them to actually become friends, but once they do they're inseparable

They're the type of friends to split off from the main friend group during group events and show up three hours later with no warning

I think Shadow treats Tails older than how Sonic treats him. I think Shadow would be more willing to leave Tails alone during missions, and it makes Tails feel like he's trusted. It takes so much of the burden of needing to prove himself off his shoulders

Sonic trusts Tails with his life ofc, and Tails knows that, but with Sonic being so.... Over protective it's hard to believe it sometimes. It's different with Shadow, he has an easier time showing trust in a way Tails understands

If Tails needs a second pair of eyes to look at an invention he's probably calling Shadow, one of the only easily accessible people he knows who likes machinery as much as him

You can pry Shadow being a Car Guy(tm) out of my cold dead hands

I think Shadow and Tails are more prone to arguing than Sonic and Tails, mostly because they're arguing about Sonic lol

Whether it's Shadow saying Sonic's annoying and Tails brother instincts kicking in to defend him, because nobody can make fun of his brother except him, or Shadow scolding Tails for his martyr tendencies that he very obviously got from his older brother

I can definitely imagine Shadow and Tails being close and seeing some of the trauma that Tails has been through, Shadow lashes out in this like... Protective anger and calling Sonic anywhere between a mediocre to a bad older brother and Tails just not having it

Otherwise, those two are best friendlies forever and ever. They just have a few differences in who they think is worth hanging around lol

Unfortunately for Tails it is just as hard to get a genuinely emotionally vulnerable conversation out of Shadow as it is with Sonic, fortunately though he's not willing to initiate them either, Shadow still frets when Tails gets hurt tho... Just in a much less hovering way and a more brooding "uncaring" way lol

If this keeps up nobody is ever going to teach that kid any emotional competence =(

Shadow encourages weapons of mass destruction but only if he gets to field test them, and if Tails please stops making all his inventions such garish colors

Everyone takes delight in watching one of the babies of the group try and imitate the brooding mess that is Shadow the Hedgehog. Fully believe if Tails has an emo phase it's entirely Shadows fault

NightBringer Satan is a Gift.

I understand everyone has their own opinions on how good/not good NB is as a game or a story or whatever, but in my opinion, Satan's characterization is soooo enhanced by it. I know that this isn't an opinion that everyone shares, but to me, Satan felt emotionally artificial sometimes in the original game (more on that below).* He felt kind of awkward and like he wanted to connect with MC but something was blocking the kind of connection they develop with some of the other brothers. (Disclaimer: I've only done season 1 of OG, so I can't speak to how he's characterized later on. I know, I know, shame. But I'm trying my best.) Getting to see what Satan is like when he doesn't have any control over his emotions makes the stiffness and artificiality make more sense to me, and they become admirable because we get to see just how hard it is for him to get everything under control.

I think they did a really good job with the pacing of his development in NB too. Satan in Lesson 1 and Satan in Lesson 19 are different, but there isn't a moment where he suddenly starts controlling his emotions better. I think there's a lot going on behind the scenes with him as far as his emotional growth and self control are concerned.

Also let's not forget some very important things about Satan that make him, IMO, one of the most interesting characters to work with as a writer:

Satan was never an angel; he had no fall from grace.

Satan was created from Lucifer's wrath---he is literally the product of trauma and self-mutilation.

Satan is significantly younger than his brothers.

He spent the first year of his life more or less trapped in a castle with his deeply emotionally wounded brothers.

He has a deep resentment towards Lucifer that sometimes defies reason---he wishes he didn't dedicate so much of his time and energy to him, but it's basically a compulsion.

He hates his deep association with Lucifer, and he hates that he has a lot in common with him.

And these lead me to some headcanons that live rent-free in my brain every day of my life.

Satan sees himself as a reminder of the Great Celestial War and everything his brothers lost in it, including Lilith.

He is divine retribution against Lucifer for his failure, for leading his brothers to failure, for letting his sister die.

He acts as a counterbalance to Lucifer's pride by bearing the weight of the shame that Lucifer can't fully accept now that he is the Avatar of Pride. Even if Lucifer pushes it out of his mind, Satan never forgets that he failed in the worst way possible.

His biggest aspiration is to become a full and complete person outside of any association he has with Lucifer. He feels like some sort of parasitic tumor that exists only in opposition to his brother, and he wants desperately to escape that role that he feels he was born into.

Anyway, Satan is great, hail Satan, all that good stuff. Did you know I have a lot of thoughts and opinions about Satan? I know, shocking. For more of my takes here's my fic about him (on AO3).

*I think Satan almost metaphorically represents certain elements of autism---emotions that don't come out the way you intend, masking and its limitations, hyperfixations that are barely under control. In Fandom Discourse(TM) there's sometimes a level of focus on more 'cutesy' autistic traits that we find endearing in characters, like social obliviousness and gleefully indulged hyperfixations. But emotional control, emotional masking, emotional seepage, emotional artificiality---these are also real and messy and often times they aren't cute and they're uncomfortable to see in yourself or in someone else. I really don't like diagnosing characters so I'm not about to claim Satan "is" autistic, but as someone who has been called essentially 'spectrum adjacent' by doctors, I relate to the awkwardness and the desire to appear normal despite knowing you're not and emotions spilling out in ugly ways---um. That got really long and personal.

Bruce would... wait... ACTUALLY??? EVERYONE would fuckin give a LIMB to "go back and Do It Right"(tm)?

Oh :Dc Oh No~ that's a FANTASTIC thought~☆

Some big Everything's Fucked Event. Like when Superboy Prime PUNCHED REALITY and broke it, bringing Jason back. Maybe some shit head reality warper collecting the seven sacred McGuffins or what have you. But they? Can't stop him.

Some of them last longer then others. But the idiot BROKE reality. And eventually? It resets itself.

But!

Tim died BEFORE the Break. Everyone else died AFTER. It was Heroic, of course, tried to destroy the last object before the reality warper could get it. But the bastard already had 6. He got Tim first.

And... they had all been drifting apart. Strained relationships, traumas upon traumas. Never knowing what to SAY. Wanting to fix things. Always somehow making things worse. Trying to do better. And then?

Tim is just... just GONE.

Then they die, Reality in fragments. Like some fucked up Alice in Wonderland fever dream. And? Wake up at different points in their own history.

Bruce blinks. And there is Tim. Tiny and determined to save him from himself. He's so small.

Bruce is collapsing to his knees and dragging him into a hug before he can think of anything else. His son. His boy. Tim. Warm and perfect, uncertain as he awkwardly hugs him back.

And this time he's a better mentor. Past mistakes always haunting him. Better food, better teaching, better gear. Better body management. Stretching and massages. Bruce is... obsessive, unsurprisingly, over Taking Care of Tim. He can't fail again. HAS to be better.

It's inevitable, that it gets weird. Started OUT invasive, after all. Since sexual wellness IS important to mental and emotional regulation, that has to be scheduled too. What do you mean "you don't"? Robin, it's stress relief.

Of course Bruce will show you. Yes of COURSE he's going to get you toys, show you how to use them. No, no, you're doing it wrong. Not like THAT, like THIS. See how he's doing it?

All so very educational.

But! Oh no! What if Robin wants to DATE? It was a disaster for him last time. Bruce better show him. And obviously if he's already doing THAT, he should show him how to put the moves on someone. And since we're doing THAT, it's only reasonable to follow through. Robin can't patrol distracted! That's not safe!

So he HAS to fuck him.

And really, if he's done it ONCE, he might as well teach him what he knows. Who better, then someone Robin can trust?

Which is what Dick stumbles into. Somehow in the past. With an even MORE neurotic Bruce who's-! Who's-! He'll KILL YO-! Heeeey there Timmy! Just need to talk to Bruce real quick, so... huh?

And that's when it hits Dick like a gut punch? That THIS Tim? No ugliness between them. Is excited to see him. Greets him with a hug. Warm and cute and bouncy. Wants... wants help... practicing...

Dicks eyes shoot to Bruce. Back to Tim. He keeps his Nightwing mask, firmly in place as the part of what he WANTS fight like dogs inside him. He shouldn't. Needs to stop this NOW. It's already WAY out of hand...

Y-Yeah, Timmers, of course he'll help.

What're big Brothers for?

And Tim is terrible at riding him. Gets too overwhelmed and freezes up, again and again. Is so SENSITIVE. It's so cute Dick can barely stand it, as he lifts and sinks him down. Watches him pant and squirm. Let's him cling like Dick is the only thing holding him together.

He's never been harder.

Jason, of course, could really only blink awake in one place. Because his luck is SHIT. Titans Tower. He thinks it's hell. Purgatory maybe. A punishment for what he did here. Goes to face it. Only...

Where's Timbers?

It DOES bring the family back together. Even if Kon vows to NEVER forgive or forget. Hisses like an outraged cat at the mere mention of Red Hood. But things are great! Then Talia does what she do. Fucks up Bruce's mental health. THIS time however, he was aware it was coming.

And Damian, last Survivor of the Bat Clan, blinks into awareness to Tim offering him his hand. Excited to have a little brother.

Ah. Timothy looks... young. He no longer feels threatened by him, as he once did. Damian grew up. He shakes his hand. Is WELCOMED. Doted on.

Finds himself... Timothy's? Favorite? The baby of the family. None can touch him. One look and Timothy will come snarling to his defense. He need only pout and all will be delivered to his feet. Hilarious, how different it could have been.

But.

He is not blind. He is not the only one back in time. And the changes...

He can not argue that the family is not CLOSER, but must they act like animals? Panting after Timothy? Yet on the other hand... being so doted upon? Has brought up... feelings.

So... awkwardly... he, like a child who's had a bad dream, shuffles into Tim's room in the night. Is welcomed with open arms. Hayakawa Family:

They are so special to me AUGH I love them so much. Denji and Power are the chaos siblings and Aki is the older brother who has to deal with their shenanigans. They canonically live together and Denji just straight up said that he views Power as his younger sister. They are so Family it's painful. Denji's dad committed suicide and no one knows his mom, Aki's whole family died tragically, and Power is a fiend which means she wouldn't have any relatives anyway. Then they got put in a devil hunting division together and Denji (who lived in a shed) and Power (who had no home) were assigned to live in Aki's apartment, and from then on it's history. I don't expect them to win, as much as I hope they do, but I'm glad I found this tournament that I could submit them in!

whats better than coworkers being forced to live together until they love each other? sometimes a family is a 16 year old boy that was kidnapped by the government for having a chainsaw head, the most egotistical possessed corpse in existence, and an overworked 20 year old with depression and homemaking skills. they have one last name between them and thats all they really need.

Sea Salt Family:

isa and axel are childhood friends-to-enemies-to-lovers. the reason they drifted apart is because axel practically adopted roxas and xion when they were in a cult and isa didnt like that. because theyre not supposed to have emotions (its a long story) and isa felt like axel was abandoning him and their other friend who was being used for human experimentation. eventually xion found out that she was draining roxas's life force and they couldnt both exist. so roxas kills her and then EVERYONE FORGETS HER. then roxas goes back to sora (again, long story but he basically doesnt exist anymore except for when his feelings make sora sad) and now axel's alone. hes sad :( and then he dies and comes back as a normal person with Emotions (tm) but isa didnt. and now isa's working with the bad guys except not actually because he's working on getting roxas and xion back for his bf. at the end of the game they have a very Emotional scene where isa dies in axel's arms and admits his jealousy and in the softest voice says "see you, lea" and then he fades but in the end cutscene he's actually fine now! (long story) and hes eating ice cream with his boyfriend's adoptive kids

soooo since promo season is ending and since I'm getting a bit emo about that I wanted to make a little masterpost of my fics inspired by s3 promo to put them all in one place. I'm eternally grateful for that first little snippet for inspiring me enough to write my first ever fanfic in 6 years. Mo Fang is very pretty and I have no dislike of the character but I know why I don't particularly feel bad about his possession and any eventual bad fate he might get, in addition my general lack of emotional investment in secondary characters overall. (Rare is the drama where I deeply care about secondaries.)

It's because the man killed a ton of his comrades and other innocents! He killed that poor dude with the wife and kid who Shen Li eventually fought when he was possessed. He killed a ton of his comrades during the attack (including some poor comrade who we are told tried to protect him.) I am not even getting into innocent civilians who died during that attack that he helped sneak in.

Man was an agent for bad dudes, got partially sidetracked by his developing feelings for SL and felt somewhat bad for the bad stuff he did, but did it anyway. Not surprising but not exactly endearing either.

Am I gonna scream for him to be sent to the fairy guillotine (tm Love Between Fairy and Devil)? Nope. Does it make me feel bad for his travails past and present? Also nope. Since I mentioned LBFAD, it's kind of like Rong Hao - he's hot, I get where he's coming from, but he's done way too much murder for me to get into his emo.

(He is still way way way less annoying than literally everyone in the heavenly realm. I merely don't care for him one way or another but I don't want to shove him off the heavenly platform head first like I do with the deity peeps.)

Like i know everyone says how he is so alive in animations and etc and im agree with that, animations and sprites in Pizza Tower is really a SOMETHING i really love and appreciate, but still.

Like, yeah he isnt a "sympathetic"/"pretty" character (idk how to say it in English correctly, sorry) like he is anxious slash angry most of the times, he isn't a Beauty TM, he is looking like a fucking mess, but... but still, somehow, he is really enjoyable, to play and to look.

Yeah, Pizza Tower doesn't have much of a storyline, but still. People say he is anxious/angry mostly (and i can understand that yeah), but he is also dancing from happiness if there will be reason for that; he looking kinda smugly when he finds keys or open doors, he is smirking smugly when he hit the boss, AND HIS TAUNT POSES! dude just so emotional overall, its kinda makes him really.. reletable?

Yeah, i think Peppino is really reletable, because of his looking, because of his struggles (haha money who), and because of his emotions. I think Peppino emotions can be really reletable if you're too anxious person or have an angry issues or just really emotional overall. At least, it how it's work for me. I really love him, because he is reletable in, well, lets say, at "ugly" parts sometimes, but he also makes such an incredible things, and its giving some inspiration, really.

And i really love how Pizza Tower is seems to break fourth wall, doing it so casually. Like, i love how Peppino joking at player when he got an D rank, and how he is content and satisfied with A rank, or how he is just screaming from happiness at S rank. Its like you and him is a some kind of partners there, its just a little things, but god, how much i love them. And i love this silly man. God bless the Pizza Tower.

Syrus really does love his brother a lot, bit therapy really opens his eyes to how so many of his personal issues and fears and anxieties and inhibitions stem from Zane and how badly he treated him and how badly it stifled him as a person and is able to bring himself to hold Zane accountable for it all so he can actually find a way to heal from it all and they can truly mend their relationship.

Jaden regrets not holding Zane accountable for how he treated Syrus past their duel in episode 8 where the subsequently drops the issue because of Zane's dueling skills.

While working on Chazz's experiences list Atticus and Alexis took him to the mall. She left them unsupervised for a few minutes to go to the bathroom. When she came back, they were gone, and when she found them again, Chazz had his ears pierced. Atticus had taken him to Claire's. She will never leave them unsupervised again. 🤦‍♀️

I can try! To be honest I don't have a ton to say, im not the most knowledgeable when it comes to the Lore(tm) and I'm mostly making stuff up with each drawing I do, whatever makes the initial concept or joke work.

So what I have is this:

He's not physically powerful but he has a lot of speed, flexibility and endurance and mostly focuses on avoiding fights and being a good detective, and when a fight is unavoidable he leans a lot on technology and being a pragmatic fighter so he can take people down quick with minimal risk. I don't know much about martial arts but his fighting style is probably similar to Akido?

The Joker is less of a huge villain, I have nothing against the character I just feel like he gets leaned on too much in batman stories, like an overexposure thing. He was a gangster with a gimmick who become a problem every once in a while but he was never Batman's arch nemesis. (That would be two-face, they got the most personal history). After the Jason Todd of it all Bruce stuck him down a stinky hole and no one liked him enough to help him get out.

There's not actually a huge age gap between Bruce and Dick, only about ten years, and the father/son relationship is getting slightly more awkward as time goes on. Like it's one thing for a 22 year old telling a twelve year old what to do, pretty different when it's a 35 year old trying to lecture a 25 year old. Dick respects Bruce immensely but he's getting frustrated with Bruce not seeing them as peers yet, and it's part of why Dick has physically distanced himself. (Some familial relationships improve so much when you live in different cities)

He's in an on-and-off again relationship with Selina, who has her own apartment but splits her time between it and the Wayne manor when they're on, and sometimes even off (Alfred usually let's her in regardless, when she feels like using the front door). They're just two very independent people who do love each other but every so often need their space and don't know how to communicate that constructively.

Bruce is better friends with Diana than he is Clark because Clark has a little bit of a country chip on his shoulder when it comes to wealthy property owners and Bruce isn't jazzed about the press. Its getting better with time though!

Bruce is very good at masking (I mean, clearly, he has to fool everyone with Brucie after all) but his relaxed affect is very blunt and not outwardly emotional. This does not mean he's always brooding or overly serious, he just has resting bitch face and his sense of humor is very dry. His family can read him pretty well but most other people just assume he's perpetually pissed.

This scene in canon legit made my blood boil cuz I was very much NOT aboard the "everyone welcomes Catra on the team" train yet, so this bit was... less than endearing. The writing team and target audience had obviously been in agreement with Catra being cute for a long time but... I had yet to be persuaded and wouldn't be for a good while.

I know its to show how out of her depth Catra is dealing with actual friendship and how much of a ball of sunshine Bow is, but 'specially with the lack of Angella resolution this cutesy shit felt like they were jangling keys in my face to distract me from the past. Bow here showing he hasn't forgotten what Catra did even in a minor way lifted the fug off this scene for me. Amazing how I can get SO angry yet be appeased by the smallest changes. This series is like emotional/narrative aikido. Or maybe I just take shit in media way too personally and need my little hand held thru every scene that isn't immediately solving my foremost issue. Regardless, great job.

I think this episode, and to some extent the two either side of it, creates a lot of tension in the audience because of how uncertain everything is with Catra and Adora. And I don't mean tension between people who think Catra's all fine and forgiven now and those who don't, it's a tension where we see the characters going on as if everything is normal when we, the audience, know it's not. I've been thinking about this from two points:

Firstly, it's from a story structure point of view. This part is where Catra, and Adora to a degree, have what they want (each other), but not what they need. The entire story so far, on a personal level to them, has been about wanting each other back with them - and now they've got it, so everything is fine, right? They want to believe it is, so they act like it is. But they haven't learnt what they needed to (now what that is is open to interpretation, but for this, I'll say they needed to open themselves to love), and so you have this really uncomfortably awkward situation where they're both forcing themselves to accept that this is it. This is all they needed. And it's not.

If I refer once again to John Yorke's excellent Into the Woods, this puts us firmly into Act 4 territory: Your character will have changed in some way, but not enough to achieve their goal and overcome their flaw. The weakness is revealed in a low moment of the story (for Catra and Adora, this moment is the end of Failsafe). These few episodes are, by design, supposed to evoke the same sort of response you've had. In regards to Catra getting angry about being called cute, that's a perfect example of her not having overcome a flaw.

The other way I've been looking at it is from another, more realistic, and how people with BPD (if you're playing Sweary bingo, cross that one off!) would react to being reunited with their Favourite Person(TM). It's an innate ability to many of us with Brain Please Don't to suddenly forget the shit that happened when that one person graces us with a tiny amount of love (or, at least, something that isn't outright hostility). And I think for Catra here, that's exactly what's going on. Adora saved her, welcomed her back, waited for Catra to stop being angry, and now everything is FINE. Catra doesn't want to think about the past, she doesn't want to think about her flaws (or Adora's) that led to them splitting apart and fighting each other for so long.

You can see throughout this episode, the stress of forcing herself to be fine just so it doesn't rock the boat with Adora, coming out in these moments where she gets intensely angry for just a moment. I think, ultimately, they've moved from the unstable 'we're apart' relationship to the unstable 'we're together' relationship, and both need to learn a little more about how they fix that.

So yeah, this scene and this episode aren't really about 'Catra's suddenly been forgiven by everyone', but more 'everyone thinks Catra's been forgiven but they haven't sorted out the real problems', and that drives the conflict for the latter half of the season.

No context HCs/evaluation of the Heart Hotel (+ Vanitas no one can tell me no <3)

Ventus, somehow has both Eldest Sister Syndrome (but like. It's fake. The one who actually has it is Vanitas.) And Youngest Sibling Guilt. Tm. Surprisingly the one with the most tension with everyone else except Sora and kinda Xion. Does his best but misses being the baby brother (of Terra and Aqua, and all the benefits of being the baby.) Doesn't know how to really handle the responsibility of being the oldest other than being nice and listening. But he's got his own issues to resolve and it gets in the way.

Vanitas, Actual case of Eldest Sister Syndrome (look his is mostly HCs bc we all know he has little screen time or actual time in the heart, let me have this.) The kind of older sibling that kinda drifts in and out of the circle bc of issues they had with the parents or other family, but still cares. No contact with Ven lol. He can be his no.1 hater. Gets along best with Sora and Xion, complicated relationship with Roxas. Probably calls them over the gummiphone a lot. Has never apologizes for anything, which is why the rest have a harder time with him

Sora, the glue that binds em all together. Middle sister peacekeeper. Trying his best to make sure they can have dinner at the same time (failing, but he loves em anyways). Also always off with his friends away from home (like a middle sister lol.) Everyone's favorite/go to. The type to invite em to do things together with his friends whenever he can. Keeps em fed and gives em things when he can get it since they never had their own things/presents 'growing up'. Touchy feely.

Roxas, middle sibling in the sense he's never home lol. Xion is his favorite and the one he has 0 issues with and vents to all the time. Usually seen together all the time. Weird around Ventus and Vanitas but more likely to come around due to Sora and Xion's influence. Still feels deeply, and tries to be there.

Xion. Baby. The one everyone spoils and doesn't really have issues with. Hangs out with everyone and knows all their issues due to 1-1 time. Problem solver and peacekeeper when she shouldn't have to. Usually seen around one of em, mostly Roxas. The one pushing for family talks and resolution with Sora. Chill. Also doesn't care. Got some pent up emotions that are Big.
