Hello Ms Demeaner! May I ask you about old cars? I have a 26-year old suv (i know, not that old), that I love dearly but it is the smelliest car on the block. I've been told the entire engine bay is coated in oil which I guess is a fire hazard? But I've also been told that doing those engine (steam cleanings? Degreasings?) on old cars could strip the engine bay of everything holding it together, and I can't really afford to buy a new engine/everything since I need that car to get to work.

Was I told correctly about the engine cleanings? Is that even a concern for cars just under 30? Do you have any advice on how to help cars not have so many toxic fumes? Thank you 💚

Okay so a basic engine cleaning shouldn't hurt your car in any way if you take proper precautions like covering up fuseboxes and stuff, and this is something that most cars should actually have done fairly frequently even if they're quite new, so I would tentatively recommend either trying to clean out the engine compartment yourself or seeing if there is a trustworthy local company that does this (this is not something I'd hire out to someone with no experience, look for the people in your life who work on their own cars or look for a reliable mechanic who offers this service or a car detailer who specifically works on engine compartments).

Here is a very detailed step-by-step guide to cleaning your engine compartment. If you want to try it yourself make sure that you can identify all of the parts of your engine that should be covered in your particular vehicle - you may want to invest in getting a used Chilton's or Hayne's Manual from ebay - and if you are very new to working on cars I'd say ask a friend who is good with cars to supervise (though I recommend doing this yourself! Learning how to work on cars is good even if it's as simple as cleaning out the engine compartment!)

HOWEVER

Because I don't know your car and can't kick the tires and investigate I'm not sure what the type of smell you're dealing with is or what could be causing it. Are you running rich? Is there a leak? Is there something slowly burning? There are lots of things that can make a car smelly and they are varying levels of problems.

If you haven't had your car in for a tune-up lately it may be time to save up for a full service at a trusted mechanic to see if they can identify any problems that are causing the smell. Someone should check on the life of your belts, the age of the filters, and do the general 100k mile maintenance if you haven't done that yourself and your car has that many miles on it. You should do that regardless of whether or not you clean the engine compartment (and so should everyone; if you own an older car search "my car model + 100k/150k maintenance" and see what parts need to be inspected that don't get checked at every oil change).

It's at least December 12 everywhere in the world. Now what?

An LITG Archive Update

To preface, the original seasons are still playable at the moment if your auto-update is turned off. (I can confirm; I can still play on my Android phone.) I've heard (but have not tried) it's possible to play using older mods as well. Overall, this is good news!

However, no one is sure how long this would be viable, given that you do still need to connect to the Internet to play them. And, how long would Fusebox allow that from their end?

Well, I'm not putting this project on hold. And the fact that the seasons are still playable? A good time to collect more records. (IIRC, I don't have a Season 3 playthrough with Seb as the best friend yet. Please hook your girl up with any link whatsoever.)

What I'm doing and what are the goalposts moving forward, all under the cut!

Originally, I was going to do Season 3 first (as you might have seen from the demo), but I did realize that we'd likely lose more content from Season 2, given it's the longest and has most extensive branching compared to the other two seasons.

So, what am I doing now?

I've mapped out all the choices for Season 2 Day 1 Part 1. I will start transcription. If there are any missing choices, I will create a separate post requesting assistance (like I did before).

Season 3 transcription of a recorded Harry route is being continued by lovely people on their free time. They are currently doing Day 4 Part 1.

Any particular timeline when you'll be able to release a playable Season 2 (or any other season)?

What I can say is it won't be up for a while unless there will be more volunteers helping me transcribe seasons using a particular formatting and process. This is the most time-consuming part.

For a general idea, it took me almost 6 hours to transcribe the part for the demo using 2 recorded playthroughs by @queen-of-boops and by @mrsbsmooth. I broke up the scenes and added in some code/notes as I transcribed. Then I had a few more hours tweaking the transcript into ink, breaking it up a bit more so it won't flood the screen as much UI-wise, installing the UI framework, and testing it.

Granted, since I have brushed up on ink and have done base stuff for the demo, it shouldn't take me too long to code the full game once I've done all the non-coding related tasks.

Why not release it in chapters?

Honestly because I'm not a programmer, I have massive technical debt, and I could do that, but honestly I'm not very comfortable with doing that unless I at least map out all the choices first. I want to avoid missing variables which may, in turn, break everything else.

You might be surprised with the scenes we're still discovering as we repeat the playthroughs. We've got aliens, Islanders checking Bobby's reaction to Rocco possibly stealing you away from him, Ciaran being turned on by a belch, and Kassam actually considering you as a dateable prospect despite not being interested in you in the first place, etc. Honestly wild.

So, now what?

I will be posting an update once a week until all three seasons are completed. I'll post recording requests when needed. (Thank you to everyone who has shared their records so far, I could kiss you all. It's so lovely seeing our community band together like this.)

We can only hope Fusebox publishes the remastered versions soon (if at all) so people (like me) can play their comfort routes or just play some of the best seasons they had put out into the world.

Honestly, thoughts are all over the place. But thank you so much for asking!!! Here they are as of today:

The Game:

The first 3 chapters - 8/10 I was going to give it a 7.5, because of the repeating dialogue and a few spelling mistakes, but so far, I think it's better written than Seasons 4 and 5- maybe on par with S3 which is a season I really enjoyed. I'm really liking how Amelia seems to be responding to how you treat her, especially if you look at the scripts. Whether or not that will affect her actions remains to be seen.

The MC - 8/10 I gotta say... she's pretty cute. It does take some fiddling to get her the way you want her, and some of her facial expressions make it look like she's had botched lip job, but overall, she's definitely prettier than S4 and S5. (Except your S5 MC ^^ wtf she's so pretty???)

The LIs - 9/10 So far, I'm really liking what I'm seeing. Yeah, some of their dialogue is the same. But I think they're different enough in personality and where it matters that it's not as noticeable as it was in say, Season 4, where James and Bruno shared a whole heap of the same dialogue, but it was clearly written with Bruno in mind, so it just seemed OOC for James. We've got a cocky dancer with a hopeless romantic streak; a golden retriever boyfriend with a soft spot for his Nan; a funny, cheeky skateboarder with a 'why-don't-you-make-me' level of flirt; and also Ryan is there. The personalities are distinct, the character designs are great, I'm really looking forward to finding out more about them

Overall design and concept- 7/10 I gotta say, I'm optimistic. It's starting out really strong for a new season. I get that it's not everyone's cup of tea, as it's a little 'gimmicky', but that's the road Fusebox are going down with the past few seasons. They're not just doing an 'open play' like S1, 2 and 3 where you come in as an OG and play all the way through. 4,5, and 6 are all 'themed', and I think having a twin in the villa is a cool concept that'll be worth exploring. It's been easy in previous seasons to just play for yourself, and say 'fuck these hoes' and just take whatever LI you want. But when it's your own sister, I think it'll make it harder to go after what you want - a moral dilemma with a family flavour. I kinda love it. Plus, if you have an identical twin that's as hot as you are, I doubt this is the first time you've had men confused about which one of you to pick💀

The Islanders:

Bella - hot. flawlessly hot. incredible rack. Her character design is absolutely gorgeous, and she is gonna be a fan favourite for sure. She just seems so fun, similar to Cora from S4, but more mature and ready for a romantic relationship. Can't wait to watch her bloom.

Grace - FB I will never forgive you for not making her a LI. I want her, those curves just *chefs kiss*. But honestly, if anyone's gonna be my bestie, I'm feeling it ith Grace. Yeah, she seems to like Ozzy, but she doesn't seem like the type to get her claws in and latch on for dear life a la Kat or Hope. Let's just hope and pray and beg that they're not making a brown girl villain again.

Ivy - I told y'all from the moment I saw her that I didn't trust this bitch. She looks too much like my cousin and my cousin is a backstabbing skank. I'm loving the concept of her though, this super type-A girl who (I almost guarantee) is either going to a) get kicked out early for being too picky, or b) have the most beautiful redemption arc where she ends up with a guy who ticks exactly zero of her boxes but she falls for him anyway. However, given Fusebox's history, I'm gonna predict she's the villain for about 2 days, then gets booted, same as Lexi from S4.

Jamal - Boys with J names 🚩... but honestly he seems nice. He's my backup LI at the moment. I'll see how things go with my #1 and might start again with Jamal instead. I think you're gonna get some wonderfully steamy scenes with this one. He's giving Bobby x Arjun, and that is something that deeply appeals to me. Cheeky, cheeky, cheeky. He's a saucy little minx and he's gonna be trouble, I just know it. Love his design, love his character so far, really happy.

Lewie - I thought he was a little baby-faced to start with, but honestly, I look at him and my brain screams husband. I'm getting Bruno x Gary x Ciaran from this one, and oh dear me, if that's not a combo that makes me swoon IDK what is. Love him so far, he's such a sweetheart but I love a footy lad.

Ozzy - I'm suspicious. I know he's already captured a few peoples' attention, but I was a little dismissive with him and he seemed a bit... red flag-y. Just a little too arrogant, you know? A little too flirtatious for someone who's very aware of how into him Grace is. I did like that he'd never had a one night stand though, although not sure how that meshes with the celebrity he apparently hooked up with in the dance studio? Because in the challenge he said he'd never dated a celebrity, but he also said he's never had a one night stand, so did he have a celebrity FWB????? The stories just aren't adding up to me. I don't trust him. Also his jaw's too sharp. And his flirty face looks like Rocco from S2. This one:

Ryan - Literally who? I keep forgetting he exists. Take your Timothee Chalamet ass away. IDK why but I'm getting Nicolas vibes from this one. 0/10 do not trust. It's something about the face.

ok thoughts for volume IV bc I actually enjoyed it a lot lol

also I'm currently on a Jin route (i might switch to claudia i have not decided) so that's important context lol

I Spy was an interesting concept for a game but if i can nitpick here, it felt much more like a firepit game than a challenge and that would be nice to have some variety since last week was the Heartbreaker thing and next week we have Excess Baggage.

For whatever reason I can't remember the format of the show rn but I think if the game is gonna continue with doing about a day more or less per volume, it should be like the show where there is at least one or two major events being either dates (where couples are either all in the same area, one couple goes out of the villa, or there's bombshells involved), challenges (where they go out onto the stage and do some physical challenge), or parties (which can include games). And right now I feel like we're getting three challenges in a row and I'd rather we change it up. But that's besides the point

anyway i believed Jack when he said his secret wasn't supposed to cause drama but I did not believe Theo at all and the fact that we got to tell him that later? Great choice. (and also so in character for MC to tell him off and him to just continue pretending like she didn't say that)

Also very flirty moments with Claudia is what is making this Jin route so hard. she's very forward and the fact that you can pursue her so soon is great actually. I thought maybe she and theo would share a slow burn route but it seems like it might be just Theo (or that you can't officially couple up with her later but apparently you can kiss her and go to the hideaway and stuff so that's cool).

I'm always hoping for non MC centered drama and we got it (but also there WAS MC centered drama too so that's even better)

I love to have a character to hate/dislike, so thank you so much Sophie and Jack. I can't imagine what it would be like with Luna and Jin though because they seem way more chill whereas I can see Sophie (a PERFORMER) doing all that and Jack (self proclaimed romantic) also just doing stuff to fit with Sophie.

And honestly still having residual feelings from the previous episode works. Like, yes to the Jack and Emel kiss (at least from Jack's POV about being insecure about Sophie,,, I'm not so sure about Emel but as someone who played it flirting with Oakley up until the end of Vol II and knowing Emel wants a romantic guy like Jack, I will let it slide). I kinda wish it implied more that Jin rejected Sophie so that's why she didn't pick him at the last recoupling so she's still hurt and still antagonizing MC and Jin for that reason. Otherwise it's just like, why are they still mad though?

Emel and Oakley are so cute. I also kept wishing after S5 and S6 that we got more strong couples in the game and I'm very glad they seem happy and if anything happens to them I'm gonna be so upset.

And tbh Jack and Sophie making it work is so nice too. Even though I think they're gonna keep having a lot of drama, it's entertaining and it's also great to have a couple that's probably gonna get dumped or split up at some point (and you know they're not gonna make it on the outside).

I don't care for Brad and Christy at all but why is that option 29 gems?? Like even asking for drama about the Islanders currently in the Villa is 17 gems (which I still don't think should be behind a pay wall but it feels like that one might be more relevant).

I do like that Jack is trying to be sweet to Sophie because even though he has also been an asshole to MC and her couple, he's still a possible route for if you replay, so that's nice they're not making the other LI's unappealing like in S6 (...yet???? im not giving fusebox the all clear yet)

I hate that Jack called his apology thing a game, I wish he just gathered everyone at the firepit and did the same thing but not called it a compliment game.

in the same vein, why did he invent the chemistry game because that feels like they should've gotten a text about that and then the next text about voting for the couple with the strongest chemistry to go into the hideaway would make more sense.

regardless, I really liked Jack's compliment to MC because that's how I've been playing this character and the fact he pointed it out, I feel like she'd love that. Also everyone else's compliments were fun too except maybe Sophie's which is funny.

And then he tried to make a joke at the end which was bold, but then I found out it might have been Jin's fault which is far more in character but again I don't know how well that would play out if I was playing a different route.

Also you can cheekily ask Oakley how he felt about Jack's joke about Emel being the best kisser in front of everyone and you best believe I did that

Then everything seems fine until the chemistry game and then suddenly Sophie, Jack, Emel, and Oakley are doing fine and everyone else is not and I love that turn in drama. Again, can't speak for a Theo route but the way suddenly Claudia is in between Jin and MC is crazy and Jin has a somewhat reasonable response (considering that fusebox wanted to give you space to go to the hideaway with Claudia). he probably forgave MC too fast imo but that's on me for playing the messy route.

Also Claudia's response after hearing Jin and MC are going to the hideaway together instead of her and MC is so good. Like she does convey she's disappointed but understands, and MC says there's still time for them, and Claudia's response is like it would blow your mind like we gotta give Jin a fighting chance, and I love that. also bc I'm indecisive so I'm glad her routes not closed yet.

as much as I like the drama, Tyler did not make a big splash so it does feel like we just got drama four volumes in a row, so I'm kind of hoping we get a bombshell mid challenge. Unfortunately, it's the excess baggage challenge, which I do like and I think we're due for this challenge to show up, but a bombshell showing up mid excess baggage challenge is literally what happens in S3 so I don't think I'm right.

I already posted my little joke about the Hideaway scene but yeah it's so much better than it's been recently. And like it looks like there's a few more options to change up the scene/dialogue so that's good they put effort into small stuff like that

and I'm not advocating for them hiding scenes behind a pay wall (like I rather them put these expensive gem choices behind drama I don't care about, that's fine) but like if there was ever a time to have a pay to win part of the game I would've made it this and not the kissing challenge. HEAR ME OUT: so it's like an early in the game hideaway first of all, technically you've known each other for like four days and if it comes up again for free, i wouldnt even miss it. Second, it kinda dismisses the drama that JUST happened. Like, either Theo or Claudia have just blown up their strong couple to pursue MC and their LI doesn't do anything? And the other couples vote for them anyway? Like get rid of the gem choice early on for MC and Jin to prove their chemistry and have them stumble anyway. Then after the Claudia/Theo confession, the gem choice is MC announces she wants another shot and because Sophie, Jack, and Emel like her for solving their drama they agree. And then MC can choose her second try with Theo, Claudia, or her LI. And then still has the chat later with her LI and then you win with whoever you pick (or I guess if you pick Theo then you don't bc I guess it's the slow burn route. Maybe you get a chat with him on the daybeds or SOMETHING lol). And third, Jack did this whole campaign to get him and Sophie to a stronger place so like there was a perfect backup couple right there.

and also some non volume specific thoughts:

I'm kind of excited to replay and like couple with Jack or Oakley at this point because I'm curious if the dialogue is much different. I really like Jin's dialogue and it fits his character, so I'm wondering how much of it is copy paste (but most people here are also on a Jin route so I can't cross reference damn).

also I would've reordered the past couple of episodes so that like Luna and Tyler would stay for longer and have a bigger impact but I don't need to make this long post even longer so maybe I'll post it some other time

still don't know why it's called tempting fate but if we're returning to the non themed seasons I'm not complaining

Hello, everyone!

After months and months of development & drafting, I am so happy to announce a new upcoming epic crossover story through my A03 Profile:

The Mage And The Master

(Stranger Things & Rise Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles)

Sixteen months after the Krang’s failed invasion of Earth, the Turtles and their loved ones have their victory and recovery interrupted and jeopardized through another series of inter-dimensional arrivals.

Please enjoy a snippet of the first chapter, which will be fully posted on March 19th, in observance of National TMNT Day-and also my birthday!

Donnie wished he brought S.H.E.L.L.D.O.N. with him. Ginger and Harold were hunched around the gray fusebox, both whimpering when he came through the entryway and Hueso guided him down the main pathway until a rocky passage on the right. Donnie was barely able to pick up any words between them, unable to decide if that was because they were improbably better experienced than he was at things like this or if they were really dumber than they looked and were here to make his job more difficult after they had hurt themselves.

“Alright, guys.” Donnie came forward to take a look at the panel. “Did you find anything wrong?”

“We just opened it and tried to reset the Main Switch, and it exploded at the touch!” Harold informed Donnie as he and Ginger backed away to give him space. Donnie had only regularly stepped in front of the fuse box when the rotting smell made his eyes bulge before seeing the gurgling drops of a fleshy-fluorescent matter, scattered throughout the rest of the switches.

“You tried to touch it with THIS all over?!?” Donnie fought back a retch as he stood transfixed in horror over the mess, his eyes then suddenly catching over a slight crack enveloped in a eerily red & gold glow down the middle of the panel.

With no answer from either Yokai, and in spite of his very, very apparent disgust, Donnie leaned closer to the crack, to at least hear if it was making any noise. There was none. He removed three rectangles from his Bo Staff, secured them around the fusebox’s interior and leaned back, activating his troubleshooter for his FuseBox repair programed within his watch.

“For future reference,” Donnie stepped back besides the two Yokai, taking care to be more intentionally considerate “a burning or boiling smell within your fusebox means that it’s an immediate and serious emergency and most likely something that you definitely should not touch.”

“Thank you.” Ginger responded after a questionably long pause. Donnie could see her kneeing Harold in accusatory annoyance, and her work partner turned to him to repeat the gratitude.

“Thank you for coming to help us.”

“No problem.” Donnie happily, watching his Fusebox Pods hum to life and begin crawling up the case, promptly brushing away the slime to fasten onto the wiring. “All we wanted was some pizza.”

“That’s what we all want sometimes.” Ginger agreed.

“Are you guys seeing that?” Harold asked, squinting towards the Fusebox as all three of Donnie’s Pods crawled towards the opening of the crack. Before Donnie could say “tech,” a massive CRUNCH sounded within the opening, widening the gap enough for three small but screeching tentacles to shoot out, secure themselves around each of Donnie’s pods, and yank them back behind the gap, which promptly closed with a sucking momentum that eventually brought the entire fusebox into a folded crumple of medal, crashing on the ground.

Donnie yelped in shock, stumbling backwards and barely regaining his balance in time to step forward and avoid tumbling to his imminent death that would’ve obviously awaited him at the bottom of whatever massive gorge had suddenly appeared beneath them with red, pulsating clouds of what seemed to be smokey blood enveloping everything less than five feet from below the ledge.

“ARE YOU GUYS SEEING THIS?!?!?” Donnie yelled, his echo rotating around the chasm of the maze, long after his head finished turning upon the two employees, standing stock still, eyes rolled upward without any hint of expression.

“Uh, guys?” He could barely make out their own features amongst the smothered red glow of the emerging clouds of multiple reds. Slowly inching towards them, he instinctively reached for his watch, but nothing beeped in response to any of his taps. He looked down to see it black and functionless. His fingers went to the reset button on the top, until suddenly the watch became as heavy as a cannonball, sinking his entire wrist to the floor and bringing him to his knees.

“WHAT?!” He screamed, trying to pull the watch up, and then struggling to release the band with his remaining hand. He had finally finished his fumbling and began pulling out the end of the band when something fleshy and determined and too familiar to his own body fastened around the other wrist, snapping his other arm to the other side of him on the ground. Donnie screamed in terrified pain, a brief glimpse of the source of the tentacle seizing him being from another crack in the ground less than five feet away.

He had to be dreaming. He had to be dreaming. He had to be dreaming. He had to be dreaming. He had to—

“Donnie…”

It was Ginger who said that, but it shouldn’t have been. The menace and condescension was nothing like he would’ve imagined ever hearing again since the Krang had Raph and Leo fighting. Neither Yokai in front of him moved, staying as still and monotone as the drawl of the words someone else was speaking for them.

“How does it feel, Donnie?” Ginger slowly continued, and Donnie could miraculously see their own eyes becoming as infused with red and white as the clouds around them, as Harold joined in to speak the rest with her in unison, their voices rapidly deepening and sharpening into a growling, voluminous echo. “How does it feel to watch everything you’ve designed…everything you loved…everything that you are…rendered so weak and helpless at what someone like me can do?”

Donnie was sure that he would never have any more air within his body again at this sight. The two mutants had done nothing but stand and talk and it was already something terrible and consuming enough for make him forget the pain within his wrists that he otherwise would’ve assumed meant that both of his hands would soon be severed.

“There is more of this for you, Donnie.” Harold spoke alone, and Donnie could see Ginger rise a little behind him, as if she were levitating “There is more of this for you, Donnie.” Harold spoke alone, and Donnie could see Ginger rise a little behind him, as if she were levitating “There are terrors that you can never vanquish with your creations. There are reigns that no amount of love can prevent. And there is nothing stopping me from making sure your brothers never find you.”

“SHUT. UP.” Donnie would’ve never found his courage if it wasn’t for that final sentence. He strained against the bonds, lifting his knees off of the ground in effort to get up, getting far up enough to get a fuller view of Harold rising up off of the ground with Ginger, their arms and legs swaying slightly amidst a gentle breeze that was still deadly enough for Donnie to pause. He placed his right foot behind him level on the ground, right when both Yokai’s heads suddenly thrust backward, and their bodies gave a sharp spike up into the air, resting in a way that cast them as nearly black silhouettes over the enveloping red clouds, their arms and legs also at an increasing angle.

Whatever air Donnie thought had left his body slammed back onto his chest as Ginger’s and Harold’s arms and legs suddenly began viciously crumpling with wet-fused and nauseating crunches. In a vicious fear, he began screaming out words of his own through whatever brain scattered words arose within his lips.

“NO! STOP! STOP!” His own right leg suddenly twisted to the side in a painful wrench, though he couldn’t feel any breaks, and his head threw back to a fuller look at Ginger and Harold right when both pairs of their bleeding eyes were sucked away, vanished within the dark sockets, somewhere up within an unknown space in their heads. Donnie let out what might have been the worst scream in his life, muffled seconds later by a hand suddenly appearing from behind him, its greased and rottenly textured grip upon his lips threatening to make him vomit immediately, before he felt another one on the back of his shell cover, recognizing the movement too late as that hand then viciously pulled down, ripping the cover off to the ground, exposing his soft shell to the mercy of whatever belonged to both arms.

“Donnie!”

The screams didn’t stop, but they were getting quieter.

“Donnie!”

“Donnie?”

The violent, bloody haze of clouds around him and Ginger & Harold’s bodies vanished along with every trace of the nightmarish void. Donnie was awake on the ground of the Maze Entrance, both of his previously accompanying Yokai partners standing above him able-bodied, eyes intact and completely unharmed everywhere else. Señor Hueso was standing by the somehow still standing and pristine fusebox, humming with a glow and no rotting fleshy residue. The purple turtle couldn’t move, pressing his back to the ground, his fingers clawing into the dirt around him in spite of his habitual mental analysis how many germs he had to be absorbing within his palms right now. As long as it could reassure him that he wasn’t where he was before.

TSIME: The Casa Girls

While I was preparing to write Casa Amor from the boys' point of view for The Sun in My Eyes, I realized I'd have to create the girls, because we only really know Shannon. Even Blake is a bit of a mystery as we learn almost nothing about her, other than she's seems thin-skinned. So I spent some time sorting out the main personality trait of each original islander, and then made each CA girl a combo of 2 of them.

Marisol + Priya

Amber is a huge snob and decided as soon as she met Emily that she was stupid and low class, and needed to be put in her place. Amber is a bitch. It was really fun to write two women who were both WAY too good for Jakub, get so caught up in competing with each other that they forgot that what they were fighting over wasn't actually a prize.

Just Hope

Originally Siobhan was Hope + Lottie. A self-important troublemaker, but she just didn't flow that way when I started writing her. I didn't want to write yet another brittle black woman (Fusebox has that on lock). It was more fun to make her have all of Hope's best traits (playful, direct, ambitious) yet none of her worst. Siobhan is who Hope could be if she weren't so insecure. A self-actualized Zen badass. Basically she's S3 Yasmin before S3 came out.

Hope + Marisol

What's there to say about Shannon? I love this manipulative, savvy bitch. And she deserved better than Rahim's triflin' ass dithering between multiple girls.

Lili + Lottie

Yuna was an accidental villain. It was supposed to be Siobhan telling everyone about what Emily did, but once I started writing, it just felt right for this spoiled, chronic talker to thoughtlessly spill Emily's business to anyone who'd listen. And for her to lie to Bobby in order to manipulate him into choosing her. Love Yuna or hate her, you gotta respect the audacity.

Lili + Priya

You know, I really wanted to redeem Blake. I always thought she took a lot of heat for simply being a little thin-skinned, and I wanted to give context for her behavior when she came to the villa. But I underestimated just how much she was hated and no amount of context was gonna make anyone empathize with her 😆 Oh well. I tried.

Chelsea + Lottie

Oh, Emily. Girl. I love her tragic, bad decision making ass. And her wise, resigned kitchen conversation with Bobby is my favorite thing I wrote for Casa. I head canon, but never explicitly wrote into the story, that she DMed Lili the moment she left the show to apologize. Because that's just how she is. Emily is a fuck up, but she's an honest one.

Just an aside, but I gave her my mom's most endearing skill, the ability to cross one eye and keep the other straight. Something that never fails to make me laugh 🤣

hey! i just wanted to say that i 100% agree with your reasons for not playing s4 and good on you for standing by YOUR choice. <3 it's wild to me how it's pretty much accepted by everyone that fb is a shit company, yet people feel the need to send you hate messages for not playing a game produced by said shit company. i've only just come across your blog, but i can tell it's great without you having to suffer through whatever s4 was. i didn't know fb stole content like that but also not surprised

OH MY GOD, THANK YOU!! it seems so hard for people to understand.

and it's not like i'm telling them to not play it. each one to their own, you know? you wanna go through the circus on fire, my guy, go for it!! i fully don't think less of you as a person or consumer or player because of it.

in fact, i had plenty of people sending me asks about it during the entire season, and i didn't mind it actually, because they were fucking hilarious. and it was a good opportunity to defend thabi, which i'll never dismiss.

it's just... i have so much work, not counting the hours that i dedicate to answering asks, writing, trying to come up with new stuff to post here, so it doesn't get boring, but also... i just don't have the level of horniness i had with previous seasons.

those were absolutely fun, even the bad stuff, or the lazy dialogues...

here's the truth: i've been here since season 2 jakub/chelsea coming in, and you know what? it was pretty magical. the weekly posts, the memes, making fun of whatever was happening... just collectively being fed up with noah's storyline, or missing bobby and gary and lucas so much.

seeing the boys coming back with blake... there's a reason why we still talk about it. it was a huge impact and it was well done;

i remember hundreds of people never wanting gary as an li, and completely changing their minds after that pool dialogue (the one about his body).

it was so moving to see him becoming more popular because of his layers in the game, and not because of headcanons or things the players did, because it meant the writing in the season did that.

he was my very first li, and people used to make fun of him for all the nan talk and how much of a player and superficial he came across as. when we got the pool dialogue, people shifted their view on him. and yes, many of us, gary stans, contributed a lot for people to explore his route, but we watched it happening during weekly releases too. it was so cool!

do you have any idea how much i cried when priya left? or how tumblr was actually in shambles because of it? the moment we realized it was either hope or priya, and regardless of what decisions you made before, she would be leaving?

the posts??? tumblr was in a funeral!

there were just so many moments that were remarkable. emotional, funny, sexy, moving. season 2 did that. no other season that came afterwards even remotely compares.

why should i waste my time on a lukewarm version? my time is precious. they just turned the game into a generic piece of shit app.

honestly? i miss playing the game, i really do! i miss being shocked and coming to tumblr to see if people got the same responses, what memes we were gonna spend the week laughing about.

but fusebox kind of stole that from us. it's not only how watered down the storylines are, or how lackluster the dialogues have become, it's also how they don't care about delivering something remotely good anymore.

they really went, "oh you don't like season 3? alright... here's a season that's gonna make you miss it."

i'm genuinely missing just spending half an hour a week, or more, going through the game, but this? season 4? i have better things to do.

and to the people that still send asks in my inbox, telling me i should play it, what do you think it's gonna happen if i do? be honest. do you think i'll fall in love with them? do you think the season is good enough for me to stop writing for s2 and do it for s4? that i'll dedicate hours and hours to fics and headcanons?

is that what you think it's gonna happen? let me ask you something. WOULD YOU? if it's not to rewrite the season, or rewrite a character, would you spend even a minute on it? if the answer is no, then you know exactly how i feel.

and um, yeah... season 3 and 4 can suck light pole size dicks...

Aww thanks ♥ Quar.ry is chaotic mess, you can see Werewolf Nick teleport clearly on screen if Jacob is bitten & simply walks out after Laura disables the fusebox. The whole game is being held by jesus/duct tape. The plot twist was on par to Little Hope with me especially since the presentation wasn't that good & it was rather obvious.

🕊 - would your f/o kill a man for you? how would they do it? would they get caught?

Jacob would definitely want to kill a man for me. The fact is that he can't devise a plan that doesn't involve him getting caught. He would most likely try to make it look like accident, but it's hard making assault by fists look like accidental death.

I have many fos who could kill for me and will get away it since in canon they have killed & gotten away with it, but Jacob is one, if not the only one who cannot.

He can and will defend my honor, as he puts it, but that's just fighting random asshat on street.

I don't think Jacob can even bring himself to murder anyone.

The only death he causes in game, are his own & Emma's and the latter is only when he's werewolf and werewolves canonically cannot control themselves and will kill anyone regardless. The only way he does remember killing Emma - since werewolves cannot even remember what they do - is because he ''wakes up'' next to her body at sunrise. If he hadn't perhaps he would've thought other werewolves killed her. Depends on if they have memories just before transformation though.

🎐 - what does your f/o smell like? is it a natural scent they pick up from their surroundings or is it a scent they get from scented lotions or perfumes/colognes?

In Hackett's Quarry he smells like smoke & forest I guess.

I'm so bad at answering these question since I avoid any smells like plague due to my disability. Especially perfume & colognes.

I do think Jacob uses shampoo that is scented like one of those men's really weird ones that doesn't smell like anything real but still smells.

Canon event where the first week of camp Eden spends avoiding and running away when Jacob enters a room because his shampoo is so overpowering to them they get anxiety attacks & headaches. Emma is also culprit can you imagine her not wearing perfume to the camp? Mr H has to order them not to use them so Eden can actually do their counselor duties. Both Emma and Jacob thought Eden hated them but only Jacob was worried over it. I think Jacob wants everyone to like him, like all counselors like Dylan, but that's not happening.

Joking aside, this question is actually kinda hard. I don't think he fully qualifies as angel nor eldritch horror.

He does and can be werewolf, which could be close to eldritch horror depending on qualities. Not canon werewolves they just look badly designed. Devianart has better werewolves than Quar.ry.

Like add the teeth from Emma's transformation, the long ones poking from her cheek? The golden yellow eyes they all have & the veins popping? The irrational anger & growling? They had good ideas to make the slow transformation scary but either ran out of resources or were lazy. Could've added some more traits. The fast transformation is definitely not it especially since Jacob magically has pants on as werewolf instead of swim trunks. If they were that committed to censoring nudity with adding clothing and not by camera angles. Or make werewolves have Barbie anatomy. Like I'm pretty sure Emma looses her boobs when she transforms so?

Like if being werewolf is getting free top surgery why not bottom surgery? Not to mention the whole ''bursting in shower of blood for no reason''.

In conclusion I must say he might be eldritch horror.

New year, new post!

An LITG Archive Update

January 2, 2024! It's sad to say that the OG app and the third party tool Fusebox had been using is officially dead at this point. I am unsure if modded apps still work, but the unmodded one is no longer working for me, and I cannot pull additional content from it anymore.

I still can't believe the year started on a Monday of all days. I hope everyone had a good New Year's celebration though!

Base Script

Season 1: 0/13 days; 0 Reunion

Season 2: 0.3/30 days; 0 Wedding; 0 CMM

Season 3: 5.6/15 days; 0 Boat Party

Branching

Season 3: 1.3/15 days, mostly filling in Bill and Camilo's scenes. There are some choices in Day 1 Part 1 that are still missing, so if you have these particular scenes, please do let me know!

Coding

Renamed a couple of variables that I had used in the demo to better reflect what I've used in Season 2 and the earlier parts of Season 3. It's not substantive and I'll have to figure out if I have to use functions or just steamroll it with repeating formulas or something. It's nothing unmanageable, so no worries on that end.

So, yeah, that's it! I might put up a poll in the next week or so regarding tutorial content from the game, and regarding free versus gem choices and outfits. I am still thinking on it.

For a more tangible timeline, I am still doing maths, so I don't have anything too far ahead scheduled. I just have one goal for this month.

Target: Demo content update to include Days 1 to 6 from Season 3 by end of the month.

The Suresh Problem.

If you’re here from that reddit petition, please be aware that this post was used without my consent.

Okay, I've received yet another four or five asks in my inbox about Suresh, so I'm just going to discuss this properly, once. I'm going to put the majority of this under the cut, because it specifically addresses very triggering topics for a lot of people.

TW: SA, DV.

TL:DR; you're all getting played by Fusebox, and they wrote Suresh to be an asshole on purpose.

I really appreciate that y'all are sending me these asks. Particularly as so many of them have mentioned that they feel that my blog is a safe space for POC. I cannot express how much that means to me. Thank you. I'm doing my best.

After this post, I will not answer, acknowledge, or in any way interact with any asks that compare Suresh to Harvey Weinstein, Andrew Tate, or any of the other real-life sexual predators & abusers he's been compared to, even if it's to defend him. While I appreciate y'all bringing it to my attention, it's just exacerbating it, and I'm not giving it a platform after this post.

I am not an expert in talking about race, nor am I an expert in writing POC. I'm not a POC, nor have I ever claimed to be. I just don't believe in putting discussions like this in the too-hard basket, and pretending they doesn't exist because it's a hard conversation to have. My willingness to have these discussions is not 'bandwagoning', or at least, it's not intended to be. I don't have the world's largest platform, but I have a small soapbox and I'm going to use it properly.

I'm also going to put a disclaimer here and say that this is only an opinion, and an uninformed one at that. I don't work for Fusebox, I don't have a degree in marketing or digital engagement, but I have done some work in User Experience and my degree's partly in Cultural Anthropology, so I know a little bit about human behaviour and the way we engage with online media.

Again, not an expert. Just cynical and sick of the debate.

So here's the sitch.

They wrote Suresh to be a toxic, pushy asshole on purpose.

His behaviour, in some areas, is not great. The gaslighting, the manipulation, implying he used to trick her into sleeping with him. Many people, including myself, have been in emotionally abusive relationships with people who are like this. It's not nice. It's certainly not entertainment.

But you cannot sit there and tell me that this script did not go through multiple rounds of revisions. You think this wasn't brought up at Fusebox HQ? I can absolutely guarantee you that it was.

So why on earth would writers write him this way?

Because it gets you talking about the game.

Ever heard of the phrase 'Any publicity is good publicity'?

There are 1000+ LITG Fanfictions on Ao3. Guess which season has the fewest fanfics? Season 3. Often casually referred to as 'The Disney Season'. The only drama during that season was Ciaran/Tai/Yasmin picking MC, and/or Rafi/Lily flirting heavily with MC. Feel free to tell me I'm wrong, but overwhelmingly, it was a very sweet season with generally likeable and unique characters.

Season 2 had so, so many characters with different backstories, interests, motivations, etc. that it was hard to find someone who didn't like one of them at least a little. And people engaged so much with that content. Just based off the fanfiction numbers (because I don't have any official stats) at least 75% of the LITG FF content is for Season 2.

But here's the thing: It's far easier to make people angry than it is to make them fall in love.

What is the one thing almost everyone spent gems on during Bombshell? Telling off Juliet. It's basic engagement principle that people are going to be more engaged when they're emotionally invested in a piece of media. It's why clickbait exists. It's why internet trolls exist, for fuck's sake.

So why on earth would they bother spending the extra time in developing complex, multifaceted characters, when as a fandom, we've made it perfectly clear that we'll spend more money, more time, and more brain space into tearing apart characters we hate, rather than doing the same for characters we love?

Fusebox are a business. They do not care if the game offends you. What they do care about are those sweet, sweet advertising dollars. And if they can show a reddit sub with thousands upon thousands of eyes on it, all ranting and raving about Suresh, they can absolutely turn to an advertiser and say "Yo, look at our engagement levels!"

This is just capitalism. It's business. If they take it too far on a TV show, advertisers will start pulling out. But advertisers only pull out when there's an actual, honest-to-god backlash. And most of the advertising (in my LITG2 app at least) isn't for products or companies with a reputation. It's for other games. Meaning that, realistically, if you did want to complain to an advertiser about the game being racist, sexist, misogynistic who are you going to complain to? Apple? The fuck do they care? They haven't broken any laws?

It's specifically designed to be controversial and problematic. That is the entire point. If this kind of thing triggers you, DNI.

Fusebox do not care about individuals' experiences.

A few people will be so triggered or turned off by the content that they'll leave. But enough of us stayed, engaged, and participated in the game to make it worth their while. So Fusebox just continues to exist in this sweet space, where they just insert more and more problematic characters, leading to higher and higher engagement. As long as they don't cross any hard lines, they can do it forever.

The inherent problem with this, is that a lot of people don't know when to stop.

And this is when it starts getting really fucking sad.

Y'all are taking a guy that's specifically designed to piss you off, and deciding he's an abuser, gaslighter, manipulator, etc. There are already so many stereotypes about South Asian men being pushy, or demanding, or that they don't respect women.

I've seen so, so many instances in the reddit sub, on facebook, and even in the official Discord server of language that tars all South Asian men as being this way. People saying, and I fucking quote, "I wouldn't mind it so much if it was Eddie". (Thanks, Reddit).

Firstly, there's a good reason that it's not Eddie. And that's because, as demonstrated by the quote above, a lot of people would be far more willing to excuse this behaviour if it was coming from a pretty white boy.

So why is this?

Why do you think they made the manipulative, 'won't take no for an answer' man be from Southern Asia?

Why do you think they made Hope a sassy, determined black woman?

Why do you think they made Miki a quirky, shy, but nosy East Asian girl?

Even Lottie, who's a whiny little shit isn't from the UK.

This game is most popular in the UK. It's also popular elsewhere, but its main target audience is the UK. It's why most of the characters are from there, the script contains UK slang, etc.

It's so much easier to hate someone when they're not 'from here'.

Check out any American superhero movie. The villain is foreign. In Hollywood movies, they're British, French, Russian, Chinese, South American, Arabic, whatever. They're just foreign. Or different.

They're others.

Because it sells.

It's easier for you to team up with your mates on reddit and condemn Suresh for his behaviour than it is to do it to someone who looks like you.

But guess what?

There are people who play this game who are People of Colour.

(Shocking, I know. They enjoy playing games too!)

And whenever you buy into this bullshit that Fusebox is feeding you, whenever you pile on a character like Suresh, you are making them feel like they're not welcome here.

People of Colour are being used as a means to an end.

Instead of writing complex, multi-dimensional villains with real motivations, Fusebox are using basic clickbait to get you to engage.

And that's super fucking unfair.

I'm not telling you to do anything. I'm not telling you not to play. I'm not going to stop spending money on it. I'm certainly not going to stop.

I just want people to be aware of what they're doing.

Be aware of the fact that they're playing into your preconceived ideas of race, culture, and ethnicity.

Be aware of the fact that they are trying to you to engage at at all costs.

Be aware that your rabid fan-ness can actually spur others into a mob mentality.

Be aware of the fact that you're allowed to criticise characters. But criticise the writing. Criticise the business tactic.

Don't fall into the quicksand!

Don't let yourself make it about race. Stop letting others make it about race.

Stop engaging with it when it becomes about race.

Stop engaging when your friends compare him to Harvey Weinstein, Andrew Tate, Prince Andrew, etc. He's a character from a mobile game. They are real people who have hurt real women.

Show Fusebox you'll engage with the stuff you do like, as opposed to only engaging when it's piling on to a character.

Get rabid about the drama, not about the character.

And look, I'm writing this out in a long, one-shot rant, so I might've completely rambled, contradicted myself, or said something completely wrong, so please forgive me if I have.

I just hope this helped someone see it for what it is.

Do: Make memes about Suresh not apologising.

Do: Hate him for cheating.

Do: Push him in the pool.

Do not: Compare him to a real life sex offender

Do not: Make it about race

Do not: Think for a second that Fusebox don't know exactly what they're doing.
