realistically this is the biggest and broadest female hrothgar were ever gonna get purely because of how the game engine was structured back in ARR. we know a lot about how player models work thanks to how far modders have broken things open. like there's still very blatant gender biases at play here and it's fine to dream of more but there's very practical considerations behind this too that would've been clear if you know a bit about the game's inner workings. which not everyone does which is why i'm about to explain.

the game has five different base skeletons for playable races, those being male midlander, male highlander, male roe, female midlander, and lalafel. every other playable race is one of those skeletons scaled slightly differently, male miquote, elezen, au ra, and viera are all the same male midlander stretched into slightly different shapes. all female races save lalafel are all stretched from the same female midlander (incidentally this is why female gear mods always work for everyone but male gear mods tend to exclude highlander/roe/hroth).

every piece of gear needs at minimum five models in the game files to match those five skeletons. i say minimum because if the male and female version look significantly different there's two lalafel models and if the autoscaling looks too off they put in a separate hand-tweaked model (which ive most often seen to accommodate male au ra's itty bitty waists). which means if they wanted to make femhroth any bulkier than femroe (who are already stretching the femmidlander-shaped gear about as far as it gets basically) and not have all the gear look like shit on them they'd have to make a new skeleton that is broader at base instead of stretched out to be, which means making an extra model for EVERY piece of gear in the game, both the ones that already exist and every new piece they'll make from then on. it'd be a significant increase in both immediate and long-term workload as well as game size. it just wasn't gonna happen man.

to the storytellers: hi, there are so many stories on here that inspire me to be a better storyteller. whether it’s the people i’ve talked to about writing, plot, or character development, or lurking afar during a sleepless night while going through someone’s backlog, or seeing the cool and fun ways we use the video game(!) medium to tell stories, i appreciate every single one of you. whether the story is slice-of-life, fantasy, royalty, or something i haven’t discovered yet, i’m glad you’re telling your story/stories. and if i haven’t read your story yet, i will soon!!

to the funny simblrs: thank you for keeping this place alive with laughter. seriously the amount of times silly jokes have crossed my dashboard that made my day brighter are countless. whether we joke about the game’s numerous bugs and glitches, references to townies we love to hate (or hate to love), or things that are simblr specific, i appreciate you.

to the casual players:

y’all are stronger than me!! if you play vanilla, vanilla-lite, or modded and are happy to play through legacy and bachelor challenges, or share your sims for the sheer joy of sharing your sims, you are a pillar in this community! you keep this place collaborative and fun! please keep sharing your gameplay!

to the modders: hi! thank you for making free recolors, free poses, free builds, free meshes, etc. made available to keep this hobby alive!! some of my favorite cc i have ever downloaded has been really niche cc—so if you’ve been doubting making that jester cc set or trash bag dress please do it. obviously, my examples are very silly but i’m being genuine!! i am a cc hoarding dragon and my collection is forever-growing, so continue making pretty things for my sims to wear, useful things to shove into lots, and poses to make my story-telling hobby a smidge easier thank you !!

Took a few nice shots of my sim and her horses today, while testing out something I am working on right now. I'm trying to allow bareback horse riding in TS4. I honestly have no idea on why EA didn't include this themselves.. And this pack is lacking so much more stuff unfortunately.

Therefore, I am very thankful for all the modders and cc-creators out there, doing such an amazing job and improving the game in so many aspects!!

Loving @minervamagicka's default skin replacement btw.. It makes the horses look so much better! Can't wait for more to come out ♡♡

I'm also using @doptera-ts4's default eye replacement, which you can find here . So thankful for this and also for @objuct as well for making me aware of this. Gotta say I'm am big fan of his work and can only recommend everyone to pay attention to his wonderful creations! Really looking forward to all of the upcoming projects.

In addition to that I am currently using @shoobysims's floating stirrup override, which works perfectly with my bareback CAS asset as you'll see in the pictures above.

I was wondering whether anyone (other than me haha) would even be interested in bareback riding and whether I should try to release this feature (for free ofc.)?

I don’t like to talk about it much, but Tumblr used to (and still does sometimes) terrify me.

I’m not gonna lie - it’s rough. I have had crippling social anxiety for as long as I can remember; so a place like this is not always the best .

After being here for years and not interacting and engaging, I pushed ahead a few years ago and put my stories out here.

@xldkx welcomed me with open arms and made me feel at home. I can’t even put into words what that meant to me.

@budgie2budgie, @therichantsim, @ladybugsimblr , @rebouks , @storiesbyjes2g , @airplanehead @gingerbeardmansim @madeofcc @mysimsloveaffair @99simproblems (just to name a few - so many more came along since then) engaged with my posts and introduced me to their wonderful worlds.

I’ve said it before, but I always saw all of us containing multitudes; whole galaxies of art and stories and magic . Excites me and humbles me to be in your orbit.

Honorary mention to @cinamun : it’s one thing to be talented. It’s another thing to be intelligent, but to be both, and also kind? Mind blowing. To juggle all the work you do, as well as make everyone feel welcome leaves me awestruck. Every time I wish I could do it as well as you, I change my mind because it looks stressful lol. So kudos my friend .

Im not updating my game Thank you @darkurgediaries for recording all the kisses. Reasons below the cut for my decision: Don't open if you don't want to hear my opinions its fine, you guys can scroll past it no problem.

Ill be honest I hate ascended Astarions kisses besides the 3rd one. the 3rd is the ONLY one I like out of them. I do like the lip bite in the one kiss but I have issues with the kisses overall.

Im not going to get too into it bc I just went on a huge discord rant in dms to some friends about it and sent feedback to larian about it. If you like it, thats great for everyone else but I'm going to stay here on patch 5 until either modders change it or larian themselves do because im tired of feeling shoehorned into good paths if I dont want to feel punished as a player.

And thats how I feel. I feel like with the bhaalist durge ending and now with ascended Astarions kisses that the players are being punished. Thats my personal feelings on the matter and it leave a bitter taste in my mouth and just makes me so goddamned disappointed and let down. On the knees: My issue with this one is his cold facial expressions + tav / durges scared ones + the fact this is not appropriate in many settings especially in public. The expressions make this look ABUSIVE not consensual. It appears cold hearted and distant.

Lip bite kiss: I like the lip bite, its nice. However the way he shoves her face away lowkey looks like hes slapping her. Again it makes it appear abusive and cold hearted.

Karlach's old kiss turned a A!A kiss: This one I actually like but I would like if it was tied to if you chose him to be rough or gentle when being turned and this be an option for if you chose rough.

The reason all of this bothers me: To me it feels out of character The game always emphasized choices. Even on ascended path you could choose what you both would do. hes never been portrayed as abusive. Manipulative and toxic yes. But not abusive. He does love you but these animations do not show it.

In the ending if you manage to get to the end without long resting he LETS YOU GO. he doesn't force you to stay if you break up with him he respects your decision. Likewise he wont force you to become his spawn and is willing to wait until YOU are ready. This shows he respects choice and autonomy

During the scene when he turns you, you can CHOOSE for him to be gentle or rough and he'll comply. AGAIN respects choice and autonomy. These kisses do NOT feel like its respecting your autonomy in any way shape or form with the expressions and rough actions. It doesn't feel consensual because of the expressions and how forceful it is. And im someone whos kinky af and I DO like dominant men but this does not feel like a dom / sub, this does not feel like we're his consort. It doesn't even feel like we're a pet like some people like to justify it as.

These kisses feel like our choices didn't matter. Like it didn't matter what our character wanted or what we as players wanted. Because if we chose for him to be gentle, now hes being rough and our characters DO NOT look like they are consenting.

How do I suggest Larian fixes it?

I get theres people who WILL like these kisses, and im not shaming you or saying its wrong if you do. My suggestions are as follow

Fix the expressions so tav / durge looks more into it and give Astarion a more passionate / loving expression thats less cold

Make the face push less forceful or change the expressions

Make it so your choices on what im dubbing "bite night" matters, if you choose for him to be gentle have kisses different to these ones that are still dominant still possessive but more romantic, passionate and a bit gentler. Think the butt grab kiss something on that line of forcefulness. no grabbing the neck, no pushing the face, no forcing you on your knees if you chose gentle.

likewise if you chose rough have THESE animations, the ones im talking about in this post as the animations for that choice.

Everyone would be kept happy without sacrificing their "Vision" for the game or without screwing another group of fans over.

Me: "Because i was too lazy to change my mod folder to Vala's mods (who would have loved that shirt tbh). I'm sorry, Lexa, i love you, please don't kill me!"

Everyone seems to start to mod these days, which is awesome. And i'm trying too.

The "depressing" thing is, everyone seems like "Yeah, i wanted to mod so i simply did and here's something totally cool!".

And i? Well i put a Minion (i mean i personally love Minions!) on a shirt and made Lexa wear it. And now she is probably thinking about several ways to kill me 😳

And this is probably already the peak of my modding career.

While i read guides, play around with Wolvenkit, read more guides, the only thing that happens is, that i feel dumber every time i try to understand things 🙄

I mean i even struggle with things where the suppossed skill level is "the ability to read" 😒 It's probably a combination of being exremely stupid clueless with stuff like this (main reason tbh), but also a language issue. Cause while my english (2nd language) is not that bad and i get along in normal conversations, reading and understanding these kind of guides turns out to be quite tough.

Also i'm more the watch and try type. Therefore to everyone who put a modding for dummies video out there, thank you!

So to all the new modders, who just do stuff and put out their cool mods:

You're awesome! 💜

But i'm jelaous of you! 😠

And to alle the experienced modders, who basically create a whole new game:

I don't even know what to say to you wizards! 💛

hey... no shame in admitting your ideal man is a straight gym bro who melts into a teddy bear after he realizes he likes guys... the gay panic.... the puppy love... the earnestness... you know he'd get all shy and nervous asking to hold your hand for the first time... poor guy's trembling during your first kiss because oh my god he's never done this with a guy before???? he's so happy he could die... i'm also touch starved and want to be held in a pair of big strong arms, i get you /lh.

and girl (gender neutral) thank you for humoring ME!!!! i am so normal about sdv i swear. i also happen to have the dcburger portrait mod installed (mainly because i couldn't find shie portraits for ridgeside) so now i get whiplash going from two very different art styles. also sprinkle in a bunch of dialogue mods and now everyone's more fleshed out... slippery slope to having like 60 mods in your folder and really putting your computer to work. i have the yandere dialogue installed so lovesick doesn't even scratch the surface for my game's alex lol. i get too preoccupied with foraging so i completely miss shiro most days as well (and pretty much every other villager) but him and his little brother are so sweet!!! the scar is just so unfair. i want to kiss him so bad.

i also really like jeric, fun flirty characters are just so mmm. i know the love interests are all playersexual but jeric i buy being fruity. even if he didn't have the single left earring in i would still confidently say he kisses boys. i know what he is.

i'll admit it!!!! gay panic is my Shit!!!!! and the way you described it is exactly what i love about it. games where it literally makes no difference whether you're gay or not are so cool and great but the games where the characters go "haha never been with another guy/girl before" have me in a chokehold. Knowing how to do things with people of the opposite gender but then when it's someone of the same gender suddenly they're nervous and feel vulnerable and don't know where to put their hands? oh my god Might as well just kill me at this point

i know the million mods killing computer feeling i went a little crazy downloading mods & i spent. literal hours just scrolling through them and the dialogue mods Carry. i love them so much, especially the ones that flesh out the romances bc vanilla stardew's kinda lacking in that department. (thank you modders you saved my life) and oh my god dude usually yandere is not my thing personally but when i saw the alex mod curiousity took over and. lookin through those screenshot previews? seeing the things he said? for the first time i Get It. god i get it. my finger almost slipped and i nearly downloaded it myself

The Life and Times of amoebae

The never-ending house move is finally coming to a head and with luck I should be moving in a couple of weeks. Updates from me may be patchy and even more unpredictable than usual during that time.

Also, my PC has been hanging on by a thread for months if not a year or more now. It crashes if I so much as look at it the wrong way. I have to keep it plugged in all the time because if I don’t it sometimes doesn’t want to start again at all. I can’t guarantee it’ll survive the move (but I really hope it does!). This poor old dear is 8 years old now and has been with me through thick and thin!

If the worst happens I don’t know when I’ll be able to get a new PC. I have one heck of a lot of expenses related to the new house, and am continually horrified by the bills that keep coming in. Getting a new PC will be a semi-priority because I need it for work, and all my hobbies need one (and I need my hobbies for my mental health!), but I can only do so much with the money I have!

So if I do disappear, that’ll be why. I will keep everyone updated, and I apologise in advance for any interruption to things. I’ll still have my phone, so I’ll be able to answer whatever ReShade questions come up, but I may not be able to test things myself, so there may be gaps in what I can adequately fix for people.

Like I said, I’m crossing my fingers the worst doesn’t happen and as soon as I get internet sorted at the new house normal service can resume. But it’s best to be prepared!

In the meantime, I wanted to say a really big huge thank you to everyone who is so nice and patient with me, to everyone who sends me kind messages to brighten my day, and especially to those who continue to support me through Patreon. I don’t bring in the big bucks over there like some, and I never intended to, I certainly don’t deserve the level of support the community’s heroic modders and cc makers do, so any support I have received is genuinely really appreciated. It’s never going to help me afford a new PC, but it’s helped me keep up to date with some of the packs along the way, and I’m truly grateful for that. So thank you.

Hey! I discovered rejuv recently. I didn't know pkmn fangames before this so i got hooked. And even though the plot wasn't my cup of tea, there's a lot of things which i want to say are amazing.

Environment effects were one of the most fun- I'd never been into battles, and this was my favorite aspect! all fights felt unique

The side quests/events!! Helping with 'casual' tasks made the world immersive (-: the og should take some notes tbh.

How foolproof it is- as a modder this one left me in awe. (When i entered a house during the espurr hangout, i worried how the game would react. I was very surprised its accounted for!!)

And to finish- the sprites/maps/ the art. They're very similar to the og style - in a way that's hard to pinpoint, but its super nostalgic and it (metaphorically) 'fits' a nice ribbon on top of the aforementioned

I hope this wasn't too redundant (and hopefully i dont come off as entitled). Just wanted to let it out bc, from a 'modder' perspective i really admire the dev team.

p.s: thank you for making this game feel welcoming, as a poc im used to people being Weird about minorities (treating it as a token/selling-point), this game was so casual with the diversity that i felt Normal. ok hope its not too weird i just think its commendable 😭.

These are such older asks Im so sorry, but I'm very glad you enjoyed what you played! The plot is definitely not everyone's cup of tea but I appreciate people sticking around regardless :).

Also as a poc myself, diversity is super important to me too and I definitely also feel where you're coming from with a lot of games/media going into the token/selling-point kind of thing. So frustrating. It's actually such an amazing compliment to hear that it was natural for you because that really is my goal.

Restarted Fire Emblem Fates Revelation because I never quite finished it and am suddenly remembering how I unintentionally made Kaze have a particularly shitty time in all three of my previous playthroughs. In Birthright, *for some reason*, there's this thing where if you don't get his A suppprt by a certain chapter (17, I wanna say????) he dies in the story, and I only got his B support. So there's that. In Conquest he married Azura, which is nice because they have a good dynamic, but the thing with her is that she dies at the end of Conquest and from everyone else's POV it looks like she just vanishes into thin air, so he probably thinks his wife just up and abandoned him. And oh sure they had kids, but thanks to Time Shenanigans with the dumb astral realms or whatever they're called both of them are almost grown up anyway and he hardly got to know them. And on top of all of that he betrayed his homeland to follow me so even though they tried to say 'see everything isn't TOTALLY ruined between the opposing sides!' at the end, somehow I feel like he wouldn't be very warmly received. Especially since iirc his brother always dies in Conquest, sooooo that's awkward.

And then I had a male avatar in Revelation at first and I was going to marry Kaze because I had the gay hack installed but then Nintendo patched out the method I used to access the hack and I couldn't really get another one to work so yeah that was a bust. So basically he either ends up dead, totally miserable, or stood up when I'm in charge.

But hey, fourth time's the charm! Like... I won't be marrying him because I have a female avatar from a previous playthrough that I got more attached to than my other avatars, and I'm just going to have her marry Benny again because it feels wrong to have her marry anyone else, but it's an improvement anyway. It should be easier to install the gay hack and keep it running now that Nintendo no longer gives a shit about the 3ds and sent out what will *probably* be their final 'fuck you modders' patch a few months ago not longer after the 3ds eshop closed down.

Also at this point having a female avatar marry Kaze feels weird. Like it doesn't feel weird to pair him with other women, just her. Probably because Kaze/m!Avatar has so thoroughly lodged itself in my head.

You see, Gungrave G.O.R.E. got an Ultimate Enhanced Edition on the Switch with 100 Gameplay Balances and changes, new playable characters and lowered the gory content to get it's classic Teen rating back... AND IT'S SWITCH EXCLUSIVE! Which bites sense I Plantinumed the original game on PS4.

Depends on the circumstances.

Back in the Day Soul Calibur II was especially popular as a Nintendo Gamecube title because of Link being a playable character, but because it was Nintendo exclusive, Bamco couldn't use Link for anything outside of Nintendo platforms.

And Nintendo is also pretty stubborn about not porting things to PC, Steam, Epic Games, Arcades, and so on...

Even to this very day you'll find fans who make Link as a Custom character in Soul Calibur 6 (to say nothing of the DLC "mods" that let you turn items in to a Hylian Shield and the Master Sword).

Other games have had "exclusive" DLC practices on various consoles and that doesn't always translate well to later ports of games years upon years after they were released for now-outdated hardware.

Funny thing, however... especially with PC versions of games, modders and fan communities will often muster up content to "enhance" a game long after the Developers are *officially* finished with it.

So, for example, if you didn't buy the "exclusive deluxe edition" of Code Vein for example... some modders put together a mod that still lets you enjoy the DLC content that was featured in the Deluxe edition.

This also happened with the PSP version of Dissidia Duodecim: Final Fantasy... a lot of exclusive "limited time offer" DLC skins were downloadable at various "rare events" but almost nobody had access to that content because of how rare it was... goes to show that such practices would eventually lose favor with consumers. It was much later that some kind souls in the FF community donated the skins for FREE as a save file add-on you could play via PSP emulation or via a modded PlayStation Portable.

And, given that years upon years after a game is released... if it's not ported to a modern platform, it is instead thrown by the wayside... or ends up a mod project or emulation project by community fans.

Even some official "ports" of older games don't always make the translation well, which leaves it up to FANS to fix the mistakes from time to time.

And of course, this includes things like adding Rollback Netcode to fighting games, or even porting sound files from the original Arcade version of a game in to the PC version to "enhance it" (which is basically what happened to Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R, and even BlazBlue Central Fiction).

In other words, if you want the "best" of something, usually the PC version is the smartest choice, due to fan-made options like I listed, or simply the prospect that a game can later be emulated on PC through various means.

Of course, not everyone likes using PC as a platform, because of technical things, getting outdated hardware, or they just don't want to mess around with the difficulty of learning how to run a PC as a game platform (even though much of what was hard about it has been mostly streamlined thanks to platforms like Steam).

Sometimes it's just an issue of compatibility, where you want your joystick or controller to work on a game console that suits you for playing.

In terms of DLC practice, unless it's something you absolutely can't live without or drastically alters the state of the game in ways that make the standalone game inferior... honestly such exclusivity is bad practice in general and best ignored until something better comes along, or a bundle edition exists.

Either that, or simply determine for yourself if such content is worth buying a whole console over.

Truth be told, I had "extreme reasons" for buying many of my games over the years.

Reason for buying a Sega Genesis: Sonic Spinball / Sonic 3 and Knuckles Reason for buying a PlayStation: (None, was secretly gifted, but I never regretted owning one after I bought the first Guilty Gear)

Reason for buying a Gameboy: Tetris. No doubt in my mind.

Reason for buying a Gamecube: Legend of Zelda Collection with Zelda 64 Master Quest. I also ended up getting Soul Calibur II as said earlier.

Reason for buying a PS2: Guilty Gear X Plus (I had to mod my PS2 in order to play the import of this by the way.)

Reason for buying a PS3: BlazBlue Calamity Trigger. I'm proud to say that after all these years.

Reason for buying a PS4: Gundam Breaker 3... the trailer alone convinced me. Owning Soul Calibur 6 on this platform is also nice.

Reasons for buying a PC: Technical reasons, and the fact I want to become a game developer myself one day... also the modding communities are more than convincing! I've done my OWN modding projects myself (which you can find on my blog).
