I've been writing a fanfic in my head about Ash, Mia, and Beth creating a support group for survivors of the books of the dead.
It's just them telling their stories and comparing notes. It's a hard topic for them but it's nice to be listened to and taken seriously.
Except no one believes Ash when he tells them about the army of skeletons he fought when he went back in time.

I had a conversation while watching Army of Darkness that made me realize why the Evil Dead remakes failed so hard where the show was actually good.
The remakes can't recapture the original Evil Dead because that was made by some college kids doing whatever insane thing came to mind. It was born out of a lack of resources that a studio movie can't replicate.
And the even bigger issue is that by the end of the trilogy, Evil Dead is no longer Evil Dead. It's Army of Darkness. A big budget studio movie.
A movie with more slapstick and cheezy lines that could be scary if it wanted to, but had more focus on the fun.
That's why Ash vs Evil Dead is a good show. It knows that the spirit of the franchise lies in Army of Darkness.
The remakes will never be good because they're trying to capture the wrong energy.

The Evil Dead movies are unparalleled at turning gore, bodily dismemberment, and violent demonic possession into non-stop fun that has you cheering on the carnage.

As far as remakes go, this is probably one of the better ones I have seen! Stays pretty faithful to the original while amping up the effects and gore.
