I feel like part of Y/N's frustration is that instead of clocking Sun's insistence on love as desperation (he desperately wants to believe love is worth it and that his job isn't just an eternal slog of busywork) they think he's just got blinders on and is fully ignoring what love takes. Y/N probably having gone through a really tough romantic entanglement(bonus points if they'd put their whole heart into it, like wanted to spend their life with this person, and the ex in question just straight up didn't even bother to try and properly return their feelings after a while and counted wholly on them to do the heavy lifting in the relationship) is like 'Love takes WORK! It takes EFFORT! You can't just make people KISS and it fixes everything! If all love took was affection and kisses I'd be mARRIED RIGHT NOW!' probably has to storm off bc woof who gets vulnerable in public? Cringe. But I feel like that's the weird rubbing point for Sun and Y/N in the cherub au.

Another head-canon I think about is a few years after the series. William comes back because it’s completely safe. And he is a doting big brother to twin sisters. They also have a family dog. (Not a dinky thing like Queequeg (RIP) but something bigger) When the girls are three, it snows in Farrs Corner. Not a blizzard. But just enough that it’s fun to play in. When Mulder and Scully look out the window, they see all of their children bundled up. Even the dog is bundled up. It watches the other three while William uses his telekinesis or something to make a snowman. His little sisters watch in awe because as far as they’re concerned, he’s the greatest. They love their parents but they worship their brother. Mulder and Scully watch for a few moments like 🥹💕 before going outside to play with everyone else.

Love this ❤️ I do believe he'd be a doting big brother, too. I believe they have Daggoo from when Scully stole him in the revival. He's energetic enough to keep up with the kids. Mulder and Scully can't believe their luck. They have each other and their kids.
