Title of a sample post
The biggest possible text!
Some bigger text.
Here’s what regular text looks like.
This is a quote.
A paragraph of indented text.
Speaker: This—
—is what a chat section—
—would look like!
Some bullet points.
These ones are in an unordered list.
Here is a range of very colorful text.
This is another list.
This one’s numbered!
How about the link block below?
And this, below, is what a Read More would look like.

As much as I adore conlangs, I really like how the Imperial Radch books handle language. The book is entirely in English but you're constantly aware that you're reading a "translation," both of the Radchaai language Breq speaks as default, and also the various other languages she encounters. We don't hear the words but we hear her fretting about terms of address (the beloathed gendering on Nilt) and concepts that do or don't translate (Awn switching out of Radchaai when she needs a language where "citizen," "civilized," and "Radchaai person" aren't all the same word) and noting people's registers and accents. The snatches of lyrics we hear don't scan or rhyme--even, and this is what sells it to me, the real-world songs with English lyrics, which get the same "literal translation" style as everything else--because we aren't hearing the actual words, we're hearing Breq's understanding of what they mean. I think it's a cool way to acknowledge linguistic complexity and some of the difficulties of multilingual/multicultural communication, which of course becomes a larger theme when we get to the plot with the Presgar Translators.

I feel like everyone’s fandom experience would maximize in joy once it’s established that enjoyment is very much subjective, and cannot impact you unless you allow it

i used to attach myself to so many ways of living, like I'm an early riser, a coffee drinker, a runner, a weight lifter, a dog walker, a gardener etc but over the last little while I noticed I have inadvertently created shame around not being who I identify as. I sleep in, or forget to water the garden, or stop working out for a week, and I'm a failure. So instead of letting this cycle continue, I changed my thinking around my own labels of myself. I enjoy these things, I am not these things. I partake in these activities, I am not these activities.

marinette doesn’t understand why adrien won’t hold her waist when she drives him through town on her scooter. she thinks maybe he could learn by example so she tries to drive a bunch of friends who All hold her By The Waist so he takes the hint that its okay instead of telling him ‘hey you can just grab onto me :)’ because they are the unstoppable force vs immovable object of making situations unnecessarily complicated. it ends in tears

oh yeah with the rise in aphobia recently on this site i wanted to say this: if ur someone who was an exclusionist like. 5-10 years ago. and since you've realized "huh that was kind of stupid". but you havent really sat down and... learned about ace and aro people, and learned what common arophobic/acephobic sentiments look like, and things like that. i am begging u to do that before this gets worse . bc people unknowingly will make/rb jokes at our expense all the time and it emboldens the people who genuinely hate us.

There's something weirdly wholesome about seeing IDV characters interact with each other in-game. And by that, I'm mostly referring to the friendly or neutral interactions that are more direct. Like Demi sharing a drink with you. Kevin carrying you on his shoulder. Hanging onto a rocket with Joker. Even when survivors are healing each other, or when a hunter helps a fallen teammate in Tarot mode. We also have all the emotes you can buy with intimacy points.
I don't know, there's just something about seeing them acknowledge each others' existence that is so neat.

something i really like about GSNK is that it’s about a group of friends, but it isn’t about a friend group. everyone knows each other so there can be interesting interactions between any combo of the main characters, but it’s not like all seven of the main characters ever hang out all together at once, so there’s never any sort of feeling that it’s forced to include everybody in every comic.
in fact a big part of GSNK is everyone knowing each other, but not knowing that others know each other, or not knowing their ‘true identity’ (like mikoshiba being unaware of who does backgrounds for nozaki’s manga while chiyo knows, or everyone knowing seo is lorelei while wakamatsu is unaware of it).
it feels realistic in a way to portray people as having multiple overlapping friend groups instead of just only one tight group of friends who they always hang out with. it’s an interesting dynamic that i rarely see to this extent with main characters in other slice of life/sitcom series

I don’t like when people ask how many books you plan to read/have read this year one because I think that’s a weird relationship to have to books and two because I think even reading a chapter or a portion of something is valuable. this is especially true with non-fiction but even with fiction I think any amount you read, even if you don’t read the entire thing, is not a failure or ‘incomplete’

Thinking abt body horror as romantic. Body horror as intimate recognition of the self and the other and the other as the self. Body horror as an encounter with the divine.

Artists who admit to not knowing small details about their characters and worldbuilding have inadvertently given better advice than any character design post on social media tbh. as fun as it is to come up with what your guys would order from a restaurant or the contents of their backpack or their favorite color I've run into very few people who can leave that stuff in a story (or even leave it offscreen as paratext) without it being distracting and poorly written because it's rarely in service of the narrative. a lot of that is def just down to personal taste, but it feels more like designing characters for a TTRPG
