Dazai learned to drive from Oda.
Well, it wasn't so much learning as harassing Oda to give him lifts home (Oda dropping him a street away from the most expensive part of the city and then Dazai carving his way towards the container) and Dazai fixated on Oda's hands. How they adjusted the different features, where Oda was looking, how the way his balance shifted gave away the pressure on the pedals. Oda never mentions or gives away that he understands Dazai's ulterior motive, but he must pick up on it, because after the third time his movements become more obvious and defined, and he starts talking out loud about his own driving.
So Dazai steals a car every now and again. He starts with slow loops and then longer journeys. Graduating from backroads to highways. Until he can traverse the whole city, perfectly, safely and accurately. It's all patterns and reading, and it's so much easier in a car. All he has to do is look at the wheels and angles of a machine to know where a person is going to move to.
Then comes the fun part. Because once Dazai learns how to drive well, he gets to learn how to drive badly.
He learns how to skid and angle, drive double the speed limit without looking at the wheel, steering without hands, with his feet. He drifts in the middle of a motorway and does donuts until his tyre marks have left a tattoo in the concrete.
And then, when he's totaled two cars and wrecked four, when he could drive a car and put the passenger through hell, but get them to purgatory safe, he brings Chuuya along.
It's not planned. They're booking it on a mission, not gone wrong, but gone wild. Dazai spies a car, and a little voice inside him says 'now!'
Chuuya doesn't know why Dazai is suddenly going in a different direction, but like hell he's letting his partner go off alone, so like always he follows, throwing himself into a car that neither of them know how to drive.
'What the f*ck is your plan Mackeral' he intends to say, but he gets cut halfway through because the car shrieks and Dazai tears them away like a bat out of hell, and for a second Chuuya shouts for Dazai to go back because he thinks that he left his soul behind.
But Dazai is fierce and vicious and whoops as he turns the wheel much to far, spinning on the edge of a cliff like he's the one with gravity powers, and Chuuya can't breathe but the light flickers through and forges a light in Dazai's eye that he never sees unless they're quiet and alone.
And Dazai looks at Chuuya prepared for his partners screaming and clinging, hoping for it in fact. Or maybe he'll yell at Dazai, wondering where the hell he learned to drive. But instead the boy is smiling, face cracked open like a watermelon, whooping and shooting out the window and shouting for him to move and Chuuya will never stop surprising him will he?
The two tear away and it's reckless and dangerous, but they're built for these moments, covered in blood surrounded by fire, and both lay back panting, catching each others eyes just to erupt into laughter because 'can you believe we just did that?!'
Dazai can't help but smile when Chuuya angles himself so they can't break eye contact and asks for another ride.
Later Dazai teaches Chuuya to drive, except not really. The haze has worn off, and there's not really anything all that special about the dumb machine. He points out the gears and indicators and then veers off. The exhilaration had been fun, he guesses. But he can't expect it to last.
Two weeks later Chuuya shows up with a bike he's stolen, black and vicious, but Chuuya's brought him a hello kitty helmet, that Dazai will wear, just to be a brat. But his partner is smiling and reckless, with the spark that means he thinks Dazai is about to be outplayed, and invites him to take a ride too.
Dazai joined the Port Mafia because he wanted to find a reason to live. He never found one that stuck. But sometimes he remembers his partners screaming and that horrible ride where Dazai had no control but was forced to put his life in Chuuya's hands, and he thinks that he may not have found a reason, but there were seconds that he lived.

Cuddle Buddies
Tumblr media
Pairing: Roommate! Rafael Casal x Reader
Word Count: 2.4k
Warnings: Minors DNI, RPF, angst, cursing, pining, jealousy, suggestive language, butt slapping, fluff! No smut!  All errors my own. I apologize if you like the smell of patchouli, lol.
A/N: This is an answer to the following ask from @teatro-dira :
Okay so I don't know if this is kinda weird but like an Rafael x reader were they are like really cuddly(like a lot of hugs, cuddling and stuff) friends and roommates and everyone teases them asking them if they're dating. Then Rafael gets a girlfriend which makes y/n lowkey feel betrayed and jealous, but he doesn't realize that. Y/n accidentally ruins their relationship(you chose how). They get into a fight, but it ends in fluff. Hope you understand what I mean:)
Here it goes! I hope you like it!
———-
A series of unfortunate events led you to this situation six months ago.
You were subletting Rafael’s apartment in Santa Monica when production wrapped a month early on his project in Vancouver. He had nowhere to go, and neither did you, so you agreed to share the space.
You vibed, almost as much as he and Daveed did. Folks began to call you the fourth Muskateer, for as much as you, Rafa, Daveed and his girl were always together.
You all talked, smoked, and created together. You and Rafa especially were always all over each other, keeping each other warm under blankets on the couch, watching movies while you ran your fingers through his hair, in one or another’s bed watching videos, or writing in tandem.
It was all good, cause Rafa was being a man-whore at the moment with several ladies, and you were just chilling. It was dope.
Almost.
It would have been all the way dope, except...
Except for the fact that you were in love with Rafa.
You loved sharing the same space with him, because you could smell him when he just got out of the shower, play in his silky hair, and feel his strong arms around you. And when he wore grey sweats…. Damn.  You and your little bullet celebrated every time that happened.
Everyone could tell, except for Rafael.  People ragged on you two so hard, that you vehemently denied it every time, to the point of getting heated.
One night, you side eyed the teaser through a cloud of smoke after catching Rafa’s grimace when they said you two should get together.  Your mood sank at what you perceived was rejection.
“I would NEVER get with Rafa, that’s the homie.  He’s like a brother to me. Ugh. Getting with my brother? No way. We’re just Cuddle Buddies.”
Rafa blinked and then took a toke.
“Exactly, we the homies. Platonic Ride or Dies.  It’ll never happen.”  He passed what he was holding and then stood up. “Cuddle Buddies till the end.”  He sounded disgusted.
“I’m going to go get some food. I’m hungry. What does everyone want?”  After everyone yelled out their orders, you offered to come with.
“Nah, sis.  I’m good.  Gonna clear my head. I’ll be back soon.  Rafa peaced out and you sat back down with the crew.
-------
Ever since that night, Rafa seemed a little distant.  He was always busy, and never had time to sit and kick it with you the last couple of weeks.  You all never seemed to link.
One night, he was home when you came in with groceries.
“Oh shit, I didn’t know that you’d be here!” You put the groceries down on the counter while Rafa was at the stove, cooking up some pasta with marina.
“Mmmmmm. Smells good!” You went and stood very close to him, expecting him to give you a side hug, at least.
He just turned and glanced at you, a smirk lifting one side of his face.
“Will you never learn to keep an umbrella in the car? You always come in soaking wet from the rain.”
Here he was, shaking his head that you didn’t have enough sense to come in out of the rain.  How could this talented genius ever want to be with you?
You just played it off, as usual. “I’m starving. I didn’t think I would make it through cooking, but you’re always clutch, Rafa!”
Rafa stood there and gaped at you.
“Uhhhhh… I thought you said you were driving down to the Vista to see your mom… I have someone coming over for dinner....”
“No.  She’s decided to go on a cruise to Cabo with her bestie… she just called and told me as she was boarding the ship this afternoon.  The hussy. Tryna be fast with her little friends.”  You laughed.
“So, who’s coming over?  UTK? Wayne? Jimmy?”
You jumped up on the counter and watched as Rafa put some french bread with butter and garlic in the oven.  Smelled like heaven.  Those guys would definitely invite you to stay.
Rafa wiped his hands on the towel that was hanging on the stove. And turned around to face you.
“Her name is Aurora.”
It was like he’d punched you in the gut. He’d NEVER brought one of his heauxes around. You fought the urge to double over, even though you felt nauseous.  When you looked at him, he looked concerned.
“Hey, you okay?”
You jumped down from the counter and quickly nodded your head, laughing weakly.
“I...uh.. Yeah.  Like I said, I haven’t eaten since breakfast, expecting to be at dinner with my moms by now.”
You grabbed your groceries, putting them up quickly and grabbed an apple, taking it to your room.
“I’m going to get out of your way in a minute, I’ll go over to Carla’s and hang with her tonight. We’ll probably go out and do what we do, you know?”
Rafa still looked worried.
“Are you sure you’re ok? You need more than an apple. Look, stay…”
“NO!”  Your voice was raised and it startled you.  “I mean, I’m not one to be a cock blocker.  I’ll just get my stuff and get ready to go.”
Rafa just watched as you scurried into your room. Why did you feel like crying?  Why did you feel as if you would never breathe properly again?  You got out your phone and called Carla.
20 minutes later, you exited your room dressed for the club with your overnight bag.  There was a strange smell in the room, and it wasn’t pasta.  It was patchouli.  You HATED patchouli.
You didn’t realize you were giving the gas face until Rafa came out of the kitchen followed by a short, but cute woman, with a body like, whoa.
Of course.
Rafa glared at you and you fixed your face.  That bestie telepathy was on point. Then he looked up and down, as if he were judging your freakum dress.  Well, fuck him.
“Oh, hey!  Y/N, this is Aurora.  Aurora, Y/N.”
Aurora ignored your outstretched hand and went in for a hug.
“Y/N!  I’ve heard so much about you that I feel like I know you intimately, just like Rafael.”
You tried to keep your face straight in reaction to her scent, then gave her a sideye.
Was it the inept way she rolled the ‘R’ in Rafael, or the thinly veiled shot at your relationship? Either way, you felt like slapping the shit out of her. You looked at Rafa, but then just cleared your throat.
“And I’ve heard so much about you as well.  You’re all Rafa talks about.” He shook his head behind her.  “Nice to meet you, but I’m headed out for the night.”
It was then that Aurora saw your bag and brightened up.
“Oh!  You do look nice. Are you leaving, you sure you don’t want to stay?”
You could smell insincerity a mile away. Even patchouli couldn’t cover that up. You just smiled at her.
“No ma’am.  I’ve got places to see and people to do.”  You winked at them as you walked out of the door, holding up your umbrella.  “Stay dry y’all.”
You made it out the door without crying of jack slapping that little bitch or Rafa.  You were winning.
But why did it feel like you’d lost everything?
-----
You and Rafa successfully avoided one another for days.  He was either over Aurora’s or you were with Carla, your mom, or just stayed in your room.
One time you passed Rafa and Aurora on the couch watching a movie on your way to the kitchen to get something to eat.  Rafa’s head was in her lap.
You stopped dead in your tracks when you heard Rafa’s slightly raised voice say: “Don't’ mess with the swoop, Babe.”
‘Babe.’ He called her Babe. That’s it. It was time for you to go.
You were cramping Rafa’s style.  You just tiptoed back in your room, making little to no noise so that they could watch the movie in peace. You didn’t see Rafa looking at your door after you went in.
----
A week later, you let Rafa know your move out date.
“Wait. What?”
Rafa’s mouth was open. You repeated yourself.
“Well, I’m going to move in with Carla. She’s going to let me ride her couch until this other place comes open in three weeks. It’s a sweet deal, near the studio….”
Rafa’s mind was racing, you could see the gears turning.
“Well… why don’t you just stay here until then, we got a good thing going.” He looked upset. What was up with him?
“Rafa… I’m just in the way.  You’ve got Aurora…”
“Hold up, wait.  We aren’t even that serious.  I mean, I just stopped seeing Bev and Chrissy. He looked at his watch. Last week.”
You laughed at Rafa’s fuckboi ways.  “Well, what about me? I might want to date someone and bring them over…”
Rafa’s face changed.
“Bring someone over here…”
But it didn’t sound like an invitation, it sounded like a threat.
It was your turn to stare at Rafa.  “What the hell…?”
He straightened up.  “I mean, any of your guests are welcome here.”
You sighed and shook your head.
“See what I mean? Things are getting tense, I want us to stay friends, not be tight with each other all the time.”
Rafa grinned.  “You said ‘tight.’”  He dodged a couch pillow thrown at his head.
“What are you, a 12 year old?”  You were rolling.  He really was one of your best friends.  But you needed space to get over yourself.  And him.
“Okay.  You grown.  But just know that you don’t have to go.  And know that I will miss the hell out of you.”
Rafa came over to hug you, and he held you longer than normal, and then kissed the top of your head.  You looked up at him, still in his arms and it was like…
You cleared your throat.  “Well, I guess I better go start to pack.”
Rafa stepped back.  “Ok.”
Both of you hurried to your perspective rooms.
-----
One night, a couple of days later, Rafael came into your room without knocking.
“What did you say to Aurora?”
You were laying on your stomach on your phone, in just your t-shirt an panties.  You rolled over and looked at him.
“What are you talking about?”
Rafa wasn’t yelling, but he was keyed up.
“What did you tell her the last time you talked?”
You put your head down to think, then brought it back up.
“I just said that I was going to miss playing in your hair when we watched movies, that I knew it was your favorite thing.”
Rafa nodded, then shook his head.
“Y/N, you’re the only one I let touch my hair.  Aurora has barely been allowed near it.”
“That’s…. New.”  You were perplexed.
“No it isn’t. Everyone knows I don’t like people messing with my hair.  Aurora accused me of having feelings for you.”
You were sitting up now, crossing your arms and standing before Rafa.
“That’s ridiculous.”
Rafa looked like he was about to explode. He threw his hands up in the air and walked out of your room.
“OF COURSE IT IS! RIDICULOUS!”  He was really agitated.
“Yeah, I know all too well that you think it's ridiculous for me to want to be with you.  I don’t know what makes you think I’m not good enough for you?”
“Good enough for ME?  You’re the one running around with all the model/actress types, you’re the one who thinks I’m beneath you.  You said so that one night when you said we were ‘Platonic Ride or Dies.’”
“Here we go! Total distortion! Did you hear what you said before I said that?  You said I was like your brother.  Your brother.  You think it’s that disgusting to be with me.”
“I just said that because you made a face when what’s her face said we should be together.”
“I made that face because I was imagining fucking your brains out.  It was probably my cum face.”
You stopped and stared at him, mouth hinged open.
“The fuck?”  You burst out laughing.  “You are mad outta pocket Rafa.” Rafa was rolling too.  “But you ain’t gotta lie.”
Rafa stopped laughing.
“Why do you think I’m lying?”
He was moving closer to you. This felt… dangerous. He looked up and down your body, and it was the first time you felt uncomfortable being comfortable around Rafa.
“Because you told me that you wanted to just be Cuddle Buddies a month after you came back from Canada. You drew a line in the sand.”
Rafa shook his head at you and smiled, green-blue eyes twinkling.
“I knew you were too zooted.  I shouldn’t have tried to shoot my shot.”
“Run that back for me?”  You couldn’t believe what he was saying right now.
“What I said was..I wanted to be Cuddie buddies. Cuddie is… you know…”
He pointed to your crotch.
You looked down, and then up at him again. “I can’t with you Rafa….”
Rafa tilted his head in that sexy way at you.
“Can you really not?”
You were stunned.  Rafa continued.
“But I’m serious. When you came back with ‘Cuddle Buddies,’ I thought you were blowing me off and just wanted to be friends. So, I just settled into the friend zone.”
“Do you mean you’re attracted to me? Rafa, that’s funny as hell. You want me for my body?”
Rafa raised his eyebrows at you. “Hell yeah. C’mon girl. You know you’re fine.”
Your cheeks heated up. You stared at him for what must have been a solid minute.  The possibilities of this alternate reality where Rafa liked you like you liked him opened up.
“But, Rafa... I don’t wanna be just cuddie buddies.”
“Oh. Ok, Cool….” Rafa cleared his throat and looked everywhere but at you.
“I want your heart.”
Rafa paused when he heard that and his face fell as he moved toward you.  He took your arms in his hands.
“Y/N I'm sorry, I can't give you my heart.”
It was your turn to pick up your face.
“’Cause you already have it.”
His mischievous grin made your stomach flip.  But you were mad.
“Fuck you, Rafa.” You were laughing with happiness, despite him playing too much.
“Oh, you don’t have to tell me twice.” Rafa swooped down and threw you over his shoulder. “I’ve been waiting six months for that invitation.”
You were trying to kick and scream.
Raa swatted you on the ass, then smoothed his hand over the cheek that stung.
“The more you struggle, the more you’ll be begging me to stop in a few.”
You struggled some more, but he made it to your bedroom and deposited you on the bed.  He glared down at you, all sexy green-eyed god.
“Try me, Y/N.”
You reached for the drawstring on his sweats.
“If you insist, Rafael.”

“Oh, my God.” Jane picks up the keys from the floor of the cave.
“Am I interrupting something.” Richard whispered.
“No, no, no, nothing at all.” Realizing how they can return to Earth, Jane turns to Thor. “Come on.”
Thor picks up Y/n bridal style. “Don’t worry Y/n we are going to find out what’s wrong.”
“I'm losing you there, are you in a tunnel?” Richard asked.Thor starts following Jane.
“Where are we going?” Thor asked.
“Hello?” Richard said into the phone.
They start walking further into the cave, Thor notices the discarded shoes that were thrown through from the abandoned factory. “Why are there so many shoes in here?”
As they walks further in suddenly they disappear; back in his office Richard loses Jane on the phone. “I'll just text her.”
Y/n, Jane, and Thor appear back on Earth outside the factory. Jane points to car and Thor places Y/n in the backseat. Jane and Thor get into Ian's abandoned car that was still parked outside the factory and Jane tries to staqrt the cat.
“So, Who’s Richard?”
“Really?”
Jean drives off from the factory.

At Darcy’s apartment
Jean opens the door and rushes in the Apartment with Thor hot on her heels.
“Jane!” Darcy cried.
“Hey.” Jane said dryly.
Thor rushes over to the couch and places Y/n there.
“I need to see if I’ll going to get any reading.” Jane announced as she looks for the gadget she was using to find Thor days ago.
“Y/n!!! What’s going on?” Darcy wondered. “You can't just leave like that, the whole world is going crazy! “
“If the Aether is inside Y/n this....” Jane said holding up the gadget. “.....Should tell us.
Jane turns on the gadget and waves it over Y/n’s body and nothing happens. No sound is made, the meter doesn’t even move. “Don’t understand....didn’t some of the Aether go inside Y/n?”
Erik walks out the bathroom and sees Thor, Y/n unconscious on the couch, and Jane.
Her and Y/n are wearing Asgardian clothes (Except Jane was blue and Y/n is red.) and disheveled state. “Did you go to a party?” Jane notices Erik for the first time.
Thor hangs his hammer on the coat hanger next to the door. “All the stuff we saw is spreading.”
“Erik?!” Jane said blinking.
“Jane, how wonderful!” Erik said as he goes to Jane and as he embraces her while he isn't wearing any pants. “You've been to Asgard.”
“Where are your pants?” Jane wondered.
“Oh, uh...he uh...he says it helps him think.” Ian answered.
“Okay. Well, I'm gonna need everything you got on this. All the work you've been doing on gravimetric anomalies, everything.” Jane stated.
“Okay.”
“Are you well, Erik?” Thor asked.
Erik chuckles then his smile fades quickly. “Your brother is not coming, is he?l
“Loki is dead.” Thor answered.
“Oh, thank God.” Thor looks at him in confusion. “I....I'm so sorry.”
“Thank you.”
Erik then embraces Thor.

Back on Svartalfheim we see an Einherjar Guard use the ship that brought Y/n, Thor, Loki, and Jane onto the planet to return to Asgard, he goes to see Odin at the palace.
“Forgive me, my liege. I've returned from the Dark World with news.” The Guard said.
“Thor?” Odin asked.
“There's no sign of Thor, or the weapon, but...” he takes a step closer to Odin.
“What?”
“We found a body.”
There's a moment's pause.
“Loki.”
The warrior doesn't reply but just looks at Odin.

Back at Jane's apartment
“Malekith is going to fire the Aether at a spot where all the nine worlds are connected.” Jane explained.
“Amplifying the weapon's impact. With each additional world, the power will increase exponentially. The effect would be universal.” Erik chimed in.
“Yes, well the alignment is only temporary. He must be in exactly at the right place at the right time.” Thor said.
“Well, how do we know where that is?” Darcy chimed in.
“We follow the directions. This has happened before, thousands of years ago, and The Ancients were there to see it.” Erik places a map of the British Isles on the coffee table. “All the great constructions: the Mayas, the Chinese, the Egyptians, they made use of the gravitational effects of the Convergence. And they left us a map.”
Eril starts drawing on the map. “Stonehenge. Snowdon, the Great Orme. These are all coordinates taking us...here.” he points to Greenwich on the map.
“Greenwich?” Ian asked.
“The walls between worlds will be almost non-existent. Physics is gonna go ballistic. Increase and decrease in gravity, spatial extrusions. The very fabric of reality is gonna be torn apart.” Jane said.
Thor summons Mjolnir and it shoots over to Thor's hand from the where it was hanging on the coat hanger.
“What going on?”
All eyes turns to the living room. As they see Y/n standing up holding her head.
“Oh my G-O-S-H......your Red Wing.” Ian said with pure shock on his face.
“We’re on earth?” Y/n asked.
“Yes.” Erik answered.
“Erik....” Y/n said looking around the room and see every one but him. “Where’s Loki?”
Everyone physically tense. Thor moves forward slowly. “Loki....is”
“Back on Asgard.”
“What?” Y/n said in a curious tone.
“We were followed.” Jane answered.
“How we were clean.” Y/n indicated. “Loki wouldn’t give himself up unless.......”
Y/n, I’m sorry
“No,.....Thor you didn’t.” Y/n said with her head tilted downward.
“It was the only way to get Jane off Asgard.” Thor said with the a downward gaze.
“No it wasn’t, there’s always another way.” Y/n proclaimed. “I’m never going to see him again.”
“Y/n, I’m sorry.” Thor said moist eyes
“Me, too.” Y/n said with an sad smile as she walks out the apartment.
“Y/n....” Thor called out but the door was closed and Y/n was gone.
“I better get my pants.” Erik announced.
○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○
Y/n walked the streets of London in her Asgardian attire that’s why she was getting funny looks not because she had black veins on her neck. It was the clothes. Y/n walked until she found an abandoned warehouse. She needed to let it out it been building up since she was on Asgard. She just ignored it because her mind was Preoccupied by Loki and being there for him that she bottled her emotions, to the point where she being to shake. This has never happened before. Seconds before Y/n is about to let it out....
“Don’t do that.” A voice announced.
“Don’t do what?” Y/n wondered as she powers reached a boiling point.
“I know what you’re thinking about doing.” The voice like it was getting closer. “I felt it all the way from the other side of the world.”
“What are you a mutant?” Y/n said in a curious tone. Y/n is hugging herself to stop her powers from lashing out.
“Yes.” Voice emerges from the dark and Y/n see a man with neck length,Brown hair with a white streak in the front. He’s about 5'9 and he had electric blue eyes. Y/n could look into then and find calm. Maybe it’s because he’s a mutant and he doesn’t wanted her to be apart of his team. He walked up to Y/n slowly.
“I’m Nathaniel Grey.” He said holding his hand out for Y/n to shake.
Y/n hesitate then shakes his hand and doing so Nathaniel takes her hand and raises it to his lips and kisses Y/n’s hand.
“Your mother is Jean Grey?” Y/n wondered. “That name sounds familiar.”
Nathaniel’s eyes widened in shock. No one. I Repeat no one was able to read his mind. Not even Charles Xavier one of the most powerful minds he ever came across nor Exodus ‘The Hero With No Fear’ couldn’t read his mind. He had defenses in his mind put up to prevent anyone from coming in and yet Y/n did it with ease.
“Yes, she is and your mother is.........” Nathaniel trailed off trying to look inside Y/n’s mind but can’t.
“Ororo Munroe.” Y/n answered.
Mind you now Nathaniel has not let Y/n’s hand go. “You are astonishing.” Nathaniel disclosed. “How did I not feel you before.”
“Feel....are you telepathic?” Y/n wondered with a hopeful look in her eyes.
“I am....may I know your name.” Nathaniel said maintaining eye contact.
Y/n gives Nathaniel a quizzical smile. “Y/n Munroe.”
“May I see you again?”
“Ummm....ya yes....but I am in a relationship.” Y/n told Nathaniel as she slowly takes her hand out of his.
Nathaniel hides his disappointment but Y/n can see right though it. “I would still like to see you as a friend then.”
“Of course.” Y/n answered then realized that her arms had stopped shaking and the black veins had disappeared.
Nathaniel starts to walks away but he didn’t want to leave.
“Thank you.”
“I didn’t do anything.” Nathaniel replied turning to look at her.
“You stopped me from destroying this factory and who knows what else.” Y/n said with a faraway look.
“Us Mutants stick together.” Nathaniel said with a coy smile.
“Mutant and Proud.”
Nathaniel smile. “Can I walk you home?
Y/n narrowed her eyes at him.
“I just think your love ones wouldn’t want you walking around at night.” Nathaniel proclaimed.
Y/n shakes her head but smile. “My home is in New York I’m just.......here.”
“Are you gonna go home?” Nathaniel asked.
“I don’t know yet.”
“Well….. I tried.”
“Ya you did.” Y/n as she placed a hand on his shoulder. “See you around Nathan.”
Y/n said as she flys away.
“What a woman.” Nathaniel whispered.

The Next Day.
In Greenwich at the location outside a library Darcy and Ian grab Erik's gadget.
“Focus, this is important. We have to hammer them in all around the site and then Jane and Erik will activate them from the tower.” Darcy said.
“They're taped together!” Ian proclaimed.
“Do you even know what these things do?”
“No.”
“Neither do I.” Darcy and Ian start placing Erik's gadgets around the library grounds. “Come on, come on!”
“Fine!”
Suddenly Malekith's giant ship appears on the River Thames near the library grounds.
“Holy shit!”
The ship starts moving forward and crashing through the library grounds causing pandemonium until it finally stops in the middle of the grounds, Malekith and his dark elves step off the ship and the same time Thor flies in and lands in front of Malekith.
“You needn't have come so far, Asgardian! Death would have come to you soon enough.” Malekith proclaimed.
“Not by your hand!” Thor declared.
“Your universe was never meant to be. Your world and your family will be extinguished.” Malekith uses the power of the Aether to attack Thor but Thor manages to narrowly miss getting hit by it.

It was a slow day at the Airport and Y/n was feeling it. It felt like it time had slowed down as she was sitting in the airport waiting for her flight to New York. Y/n didn’t want to leave but it was the only option. Y/n felt betrayed, Thor was supposed to be her friend.
Why would he do that
Y/n exhaling noisily through pursed lips and gets up and walks over to the lady sitting behind the desk.
“Hi, when is the flight from here to New York departing?” Y/n asked.
“It should be leav-“
Suddenly a woman by a big window screams and Y/n rushes over to her.
“Are you ok?” Y/n questioned.
“What an the bloody hell is that?” The woman said still looks out the window.
Y/n follows the woman’s gaze out the window and see Malekith's giant ship.

Inside the library setting up the gravimetric device
“We're running out of time.” Erik stated.
“Almost there.” Jane replied.
“Are you sure this is going to work? These devices were made to detect anomalies, not cause them.”
“Oh, come on.” Jane looks out and sees Thor and Malekith battling it out. “Come on, Darcy.” Jane rushes off to find Darcy; outside Thor manages to deflect the Aether that Malekith is using to fight him off.
“You know with all that power, I thought you would hit harder.” Thor said with a smirk.
Malekith is using the Aether to shield himself suddenly Thor throws his hammer at him which throws Malekith across the ground and smashes him against the library building, at the same time Jane sees Darcy and Ian placing the last of Erik's device in the ground.
“Done.” Ian said. Darcy gives the OK sign to Jane and Jane rushes back to Erik.
“The Convergence will be in full effect in seven minutes.” Erik told Jane.
“That just means we have to keep Malekith busy for eight.” Jane gets the device ready. “Okay, you might wanna hold on to something.” She turns on the device and suddenly some of the dark elves suddenly disappear.
Darcy and Ian watch this nearby, Darcy talks to Jane on her phone. “That is awesome! How did you do that?”
“Well, gravitational fields interact with the weak spot between worlds creating...” Jane answered.
“Oh, there's a guy with a sword!” Darcy commented.
Jane uses the device again to make the dark elf disappear but instead she accidentally makes Darcy and Ian disappear.
“Oops.” Jean whispered.
“Let's go.” Erik urged.
Darcy and Ian appear in another part of London
“What the hell just happened?” Darcy wondered.
Suddenly the dark elves that had also disappeared appear and fall onto a parked car. “Move!” Darcy grabs hold of Ian's hand and they run off as the dark elves start chasing after them; back at the library Thor and Malekith continue their battle and everyone inside the library rushes to the windows to watch.

42. "This isnt going to have a happy ending" (Seven)
@youbloodymadgenius
(Sorry this took so long.)
[Ala Alice in borderland on Netflix. ]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oscar stared at the ceiling of his latest dwelling - a small, studio apartment no bigger than a hotel room. A fan whirled quietly, pushing a small breeze throughout the space. He let his eyes drift to the singular window and out to the roadways and parking lots the complex surrounded. Thin walls allowed him to hear everything his neighbors went through, day in and day out. Drab colors covered the walls making the space even more depressing.
What a shithole.
However it wasn't the worst place work had sent him over the years. Given his station in life he had been required to live in some of the shadier places on Earth. Being a hired hand for the most powerful players meant you went where they sent you. No questions. If he had known his experience in spec ops would turn him into a glorified errand boy he would never have replied to his recruitment.
They're lucky they pay so well.
He sat up with a sigh and forced himself from the futon. A female living to his right was on the phone with, whom he could only assume was a friend, complaining about her most recent bout of dieting. Her cat ate better than she did according to her.
Oscar shuffled to his small bathroom and splashed cool water across his face. He'd been there a month already and his target had yet to show up. He huffed silently to himself. He tried to warn the powers that be to move on from their obsession. After the doctor's botched experiments, they turned all of their attention to a nobody, twenty something.
A fucking kid.
As he dried his face two male voices drifted through his walls, catching his attention. They stood just down the hall and were easily heard. He listened as they discussed benign details of their day and, judging by their voices, they were 409 and 411.
Buzz. Buzz.
He glanced into his apartment at a small kitchen table that doubled as a nightstand. His phone lit up before buzzing once more indicating a text had come through. He tossed the towel onto the edge of the sink and went for his phone.
He swiped up and unlocked his phone to see a picture of Dahlia smiling brightly on the beach. Followed by the question:
[sms: jealous?]
A soft smile tugged at his lips when he saw it was his sister. And yes, he was jealous. He huffed quietly and sent a picture of his current view.
[sms: not really]
[sms: stop bragging] was her reply.
A hard, loud series of knocks at his door pulled him from his phone with a slight start. He wasn't expecting anyone. No one knew he was there, save his sister. And his 'boss' never frequent his residences. They did all their business virtually. The less connected they were physically the better.
The knocking repeated itself and he went to check his doorbell camera. Oddly no one stood there. The hall was empty. Silence began to creep in from all around. Then all power crashed.
All power.
The lights, the camera, the ac, the hall lights. Everything electronic had gone down. Not even his phone was working.
'What the hell?' he asked no one as he tapped the screen and shook it a little.
He wasn't sure what he hoped would have happened by doing it. It was like blowing on the game system when the cartridge didn't work - useless, but somehow hopeful. When nothing else worked he carefully opened his door, peeking through the hall.  His unknown knocker was still at large.
Seeing that things were all clear, he went to neighbor's and knocked. Maybe they knew more about what happened. Silence followed. He waited a minute and tried again. Still nothing.
"Hello?" he called through her door.
He knew she was in there. She'd just been bitching to her cat, jealous of his superior meal plan.
"I'm from 408."
Silence.
Odd, but maybe she was cautious of unknown males. Although neighbors they knew neither beyond a simple greeting in passing. Something that happened rarely since he'd arrived.
He left her door and went to his other neighbor's. Repeating the same process, resulting in the same response.
His heart began to race as each and every door on his floor resulted in nothing more than silence. He seemed to be the only person there which was impossible. He rushed down the stairs and to the lobby, finding it eerily empty.
"Hey!" he called throughout the lobby as he searched for someone, anyone. "Hello?!"
Oscar left his complex and headed for the streets - which he found littered with abandoned cars and deserted.
What the fuck?!
"Hey!" he yelled louder, darting from car to car, his search still coming up empty.
At this point it felt as if his heart would break through his chest it was beating so hard. His mind raced. Panic was not something he was used and he handled it very poorly. The only one who was ever able to calm him on the rare occassions it did hit was his sister.
He pulled his phone out of his pocket and stared at the black screen. It still wasn't working. He glanced around to try and find his bearings and noticed something.
The marquees had gone black. the street lights were out. Even the cars wouldn't start. Everything electronic was down. Like an EMP had hit, rendering it all useless. But that didn't account for the lack of people. Oscar had no idea what could have caused that since he remained. His mind went to the only explanation he could think of.
This was hell.
But he didn't remember dying. He'd been in his apartment minding his own business. The knocking was the last sound he heard. Not a gun shot or explosion. Just loud, hard knocking.
A month had gone by. In that time he'd searched nearly every part of the city and found nothing. No one. Each building was just as empty as the last. He scavenged supplies as needed and continued searching for anything to explain away this very real feeling delusion.
Suddenly a small tv screen lit up nearby - a lone light in the darkness. He squinted to see it clearer as he neared.
'Game arena this way.'
Game arena?  What the hell?
A large arrow pointed to the right and looked where it pointed. As if on cue, a spotlight shown into the sky, illuminating a building a few blocks away. A glance between his phone, which still wasn't working, and the screen was all he took before heading where directed. This was the only thing different to happen since arriving.
He came to an apartment building slightly smaller than his. It too was dark save for the spotlights and some emergency lights running on a gas powered backup generator.  It was just as abandoned as the rest of the city.
Cautiously he entered the building. He'd been through a lot of shit in his day, but this was eerier than hell. The silence was nearly driving him mad. Nevertheless he made his way through the hall, arrows leading the way. He finally came to the end of the hallway. A small table with cell phones and an elevator were all that greeted him. The elevator was down and the phones were off, just like the rest of the city.
Great. More nothing.
He tried the nearby doors and found them all locked. He left to backtrack out when he finally ran into others. Instinctively he grabbed one up and held him against the wall, holding his hand out to keep the others at bay.
"What the hell is going on? Who are you?" he asked glancing between the three of them.
They remained silent, but by the looks of thing he wasn't going to get any answers from them. He could almost smell their fear. Once Oscar actually took the time to actually see them he realized he'd overreacted. They were young men.  In their mid twenties at best. Kids. He was an ex military turned merc who had done a great job of staying fit. He must have looked like a monster to them. He relaxed his grip and held up both hands in apology, taking a small step backward, keeping them all in his sights.
"Sorry. You're the first people I've found since...getting here and I thought you might have been responsible for whatever is going on," he explained.
They silently shook their heads once they were able to overcome their surge of fear. "We are just as lost as you," one of them said.
He looked at the three of them, studying their body language - which told they were being truthful.
"Do you know what is going on?" a second one asked when the silence became too much for him.
Oscar simply gave him a look to convey how stupid he thought that question was considering their initial meeting.
"Right. Sorry," he said sheepishly.
"We don't know anything," the first one admitted. "We were goofing off and then everything disappeared. It wasn't until dark that we were showed the way here."
Oscar nodded slightly. Aside from the length of time they were here, it was the same as him. "I've been here a month if my count is correct and haven't found shit. Except you guys," he said glancing between them.
The one with the stupid question took a few steps, peeking around the corner. He saw the elevator and table full of phones. His demeanor seemed a bit more hopeful at the sight. "There are phones down here," he said to his friends before taking off for them.
"They don't work," Oscar called out, but the other two had already rushed to join their friend.
When they picked them up the screens woke up. Their faces were scanned and a woman's voice came through - explaining registration was closed in five minutes and the number of participants, which as of now was the three of them.
"What the fuck?" Oscar said picking up a fourth phone. It scanned his face and replayed the same message. "These weren't working when I found them," he said more to himself.
Before they could discuss the recent turn of events a woman emerged from around the corner. She was dressed in business casual attire and looked vastly out of place. She calmly walked toward them and picked up a phone, repeating the process as the rest. This time however the registration time had gone down by two minutes.
"What does that even mean?" the third guy asked when he heard her message. "Registration?"
"Its a game," the woman said, breaking her silence.
"Game? What do you mean game?"
Without a word she pulled out some kind of ID badge and threw it down the hall. They all watched as a lazer shot out and precisely hit the tiny card.
"Once you cross the barrier you have now choice but to play."
"What game?!" the first guy asked again, frustration and worry in his voice.
"We are all in this game," she began to explain. "Each one is different and if you don't complete their tasks you die."
"Their?" Oscar asked.
She shrugged her shoulders "Whoever is running it."
A second girl showed up and when she saw the groups of them she rushed forward, happy to find other humans. The trio of guys tried to stop her, but it was too late and she'd crossed the threshold. Quietly Oscar handed her a phone. After scanning her face the voice rang out that registration was closed and there were six participants. It continued stating the game's name - Dead or Alive - the difficulty - three of clubs, whatever the hell that meant - and the one and only rule:
Pick the right door and exit within the time limit.
Just then the elevator door opened with a sign on it's back wall simply stating 'Start'.
Oscar sighed and quietly told himself "This isn't going to have a happy ending" before heading inside it with the others.

Can you do a fic where C.C. is the one who finally proposes to Niles? I just imagine that after they're together Niles is so happy he doesn't want to chance ruining anything or scaring CC off again. Even after they go to CA, move in together and eventually have their daughter Niles accepts the situation if it means loving/being with her. Then CC suddenly realizes for the first time that for the first time in her life she's actually happy and in love and wants to be with Niles forever
Here we are, my friend! Enjoy!
@missbabcocks1 @holomoriarty
Work at the studio had dragged on for what felt likeforever. Lights kept blowing and having to be switched, halting takes, arguments between the director and the technical director kept breaking outover apparently ‘bad angles’, and the lead actress didn’t seem to be able tomake it through a single scene without breaking into giggling fits.
C.C. didn’t know how much longer she could last before shesnapped and hit somebody. Luckily, she didn’t have to find out, because Maxwellcalled time for that day before it happened.
Those words were like a release valve, and with a cry of“Oh, thank God!” she packed up and left the studio, only just remembering asshe left to yell over her shoulder about Maxwell and Nanny Fine coming todinner on Saturday.
Soon enough, she was on the road, staring holes into therear end of the car in front. Normally getting home wasn’t so bad – Studio Citywasn’t that far from Beverly Hills, if the driver knew how to get there – butthat day the drive felt just as endless as work had. She supposed she waslooking forward to an evening at home, seeing Niles and having the deliciousdinner he would have prepared, before cuddling the little girl that had been asurprise for the both of them at the Sheffields’ first anniversary party-slash-thebirth of their twins.
It had shocked her mother when they’d announced her own pregnancy, both that she intended to keep the baby and that she didn’t intend to ditch thebutler. That’d led to a huge argument before they’d all moved to California, but C.C. didn’t really care all that much – her father and brother had been ontheir side, and she knew she always had Niles.
Niles, who’d stuck by her and not said a word about tryingto propose again, even after they found out they were going to be parents. Theone time where a sudden, emergency proposal might’ve been deemed acceptable. Instead, they’d just carried on the way things were, having fun together as a couple andlearning how to be a family of three. It had been kind of a challenge at first, but they’d managed.
And C.C. was looking forward to another evening of familylife, as she finally pulled into the driveway. She and Niles hadn’t stayedliving in the same house as the Sheffields for long after the big move – they’dbasically just needed a base until they’d gotten their own place. And the onethey’d fallen in love with was just as big as Maxwell and Nanny Fine’s house,in just as good an area, and it had the added benefit of Sylvia not wanderingin at all hours to raid the refrigerator.
She made her way up from the car, feeling happier the closer she got to the front door, which soon had her key firmlywedged in the lock.
“Hello, hello!” she called as she entered the hallway, breathing in deeply as she shut the door and hung up her bag and jacket. Thewhole house smelled like Niles had been cooking.
And the man himself came from the kitchen to greet her, anapron tied around his middle and beaming all over his face.
“Hello, love,” he put an arm around her waist and kissedher. “Good day at work?”
“Hardly,” she replied as they walked through to the kitchen.“Having to babysit two grown men to stop them from tearing each other’s hairout isn’t exactly my idea of being productive.”
“Oh,” Niles frowned. “Those same two at it again?”
“Worse – new technical director, same crappy situation withthe director not getting along with anyone but himself,” C.C. untangled herselffrom Niles’ arm and went to sit at the table, rubbing her forehead. “But Idon’t really feel like talking about it. That’s one problem I’d rather leave atthe door.”
“Hm. Alright, then,” her partner rubbed her back gently. “I’verun you a bath upstairs, if you want, and it should still be hot. Dinner willbe ready by the time you come down.”
That didn’t sound like such a bad idea. So, leaving Niles tocarry on with his cooking, C.C. slipped upstairs, out of her work clothes, andinto the waiting bath.
The water was perfect – just the right temperature to sootheaway the tension that had built up over the course of the day. And it wasobvious Niles had added some bath salts, and oils, to make it smell good.
He knew just how to take care of her, in exactly the way sheneeded…
After she’d dried off and changed into comfortable clothes, she took a few moments to look at their daughter, tucked up in her crib.Charity-Charlotte was nearly two months old, had C.C.’s nose and Niles’ eyesand hair, and neither parent thought they’d ever seen a more perfect child.
Not that they were being partial, or anything.
A caring partner. A comfortable home. A loving family. Threethings C.C. had wondered if she’d ever have, all come true, thanks to one man.
One man who’d given her everything.
Well, nearly everything. There was one thing he stillhadn’t, that got brought to the front of her mind when she passed a group photoof the Sheffields’ wedding day on the stairs.
The thought of it gnawed at her all through dinner, untilshe couldn’t stand it anymore and she just had to bring it up as she tried invain to finish her meal.
“Niles?”
The butler looked up from his own plate, “Yes, dear?”
“After…all the stuff that happened back in New York,” C.C.shifted in her seat, and put her fork down. “Why didn’t you propose again?”
Niles stared at her for a few moments, and the producer wassuddenly afraid that she’d upset him by asking, but she wasn’t going to takethe question back. She wasn’t Maxwell with a love confession. Instead, she heldher breath until he answered.
“Well, it all made me think that you simply aren’tinterested in getting married,” he said, shrugging in a way that told C.C. hewas saddened by it. He turned his eyes back to his food, poking at it with hisfork. “I didn’t want to spoil things between us by asking again, and I didn’twant to make you uncomfortable by putting you on the spot. And as things havebeen going so well since then, I was just…”
He trailed off, and the she cocked her head to one side.
“Just what?” she asked.
“Happy to be with you, in any capacity,” he finished.
C.C. smiled, feeling a warmth spreading in her chest. Hehadn’t asked because he thought she wouldn’t like it! He’d have accepted notbeing married to her, as long as they got to be together!
Being together was the most important thing. But it didn’thave to stop there – she knew that now. She understood. And she wasn’t going togo without it anymore.
“I’m happy to be with you, too. More than I ever thought I’dbe with anyone,” she said. “And you know something? It’s made me realiseeverything I want.”
Niles looked at her, not understanding where she was going, “I’mnot sure I’m following you…”
“Maybe this’ll help,” C.C. murmured, getting up from herchair and coming to stand by him.
She took his hands in hers, drew in a breath, and began.
“Niles Brightmore, you are…the love of my life. You’ve givenme everything I could ever want, even things I didn’t know I needed! We have ahome together, and a family, and I honestly never thought I’d have either ofthose things with anybody. But you’ve always been the exception in my life –the thorn in my side that I couldn’t dig out, the enemy I could talk to like a bestfriend…the annoyance I’d miss when you went away.”
Niles looked stunned as she made her speech. So much so, thatshe could safely continue without interruption.
“And that’s what I’ve realised. I don’t want any of this togo away, ever. I want family life like we have, and I don’t want it to change,”by this point C.C. could feel a familiar heat behind her eyes, and she waspraying to God she’d get through it all without bursting into tears. “I don’twant anything to change…apart from one thing. My last name.”
The butler’s eyes grew wide as her words registered, “C.C….?”
She ignored the implied question. He’d find out soon enough, anyway.
“So, I guess what I’m asking is…” she got down on one knee, determined to make as big a show of it as she could, considering they were athome and she was wearing sweatpants. “Will you do me the honour of becoming myhusband?”
The time between her question and the answer felt as long asher workday, only with more tension involved.
Not that it lasted long. Niles began to beam, and he leanedforward so he was only inches from her face.
“You know I will,” he whispered.
He’d said yes.
He’d said yes, and they were getting married!
With a soft laugh of delight that soon became louder, C.C.leapt up from the floor and threw herself into his arms, kissing him soundly onthe lips.
She then hugged him tightly, “I love you so much, Butler Boy.”
Niles let out a rumbling chuckle deep in his chest, and hepulled her closer so that she was sat in his lap, “I love you too, Babs.”
“I won’t be “Babs” for long – you’ll have to think up someother nickname for me,” C.C. grinned, kissing his cheek.
Niles returned it with one of his own, smirking, “I’ve gotnews for you; you’ll be “Babs” to me no matter what your surname is.”
“Hm, I guess I’ll just have to live with that, then,” shepursed her lips, pretending to be disappointed but actually hiding her amusementvery badly. She then stroked his arm, all the way up to the tip of his ringfinger. “We’d better go out and get you an engagement ring, soon enough. I’mnot having the man I just proposed to go out into the world looking like he’sstill on the shelf.”
“Isn’t it more traditional if you wear the ring?” he asked, putting his hand on her thigh.
C.C. rolled her eyes jokingly, “Since when have we followedtradition, Hazel?”
She did have a point (she was the breadwinner and hadproposed, after all), but as she looked at her future husband, the more sherealised he’d probably been waiting for her to wear a ring he’d put on herfinger for a long time. And she wasn’t going to take that away from him.
But she was going to have some fun while she surrendered.
So she relented with something of a sigh, “Oh, alright…! I’lllet you have this one thing and wear the ring.”
Niles was back to beaming, and he kissed her lips, “Thankyou, my lovely fiancée.”
“You are most welcome, my dearest husband-to-be,” she tookhis hand and entwined their fingers. “Now, we’d better get on the phone to theSheffields and let them know.”
“Hm, can’t that wait?” Niles asked, almost growling. He’dstarted to massage her thigh with the palm of his hand, and he’d bent his headso that his lips were very close to a sensitive spot on her collarbone. “I dobelieve in private celebrations before public ones, on occasions like this…”
“I’d normally agree with you, lover, but I also believe inyour capacity as a yenta,” ignoring the shivering his breath against her skinbrought out, C.C.’s hand slipped down so she could poke him in the chest. “AndI don’t wanna come home tomorrow to find that you’ve told Nanny Fine, who inturn has ended up telling everyone in the greater Los Angeles area.”
Niles deadpanned, “Would you rather have her coming over atthis time of night in order to ask every wedding-related question known to Man?”
Hm. He had a point. They wouldn’t get any peace that nightif Nanny Fine came over – even less than they already did, with a baby in thehouse!
“You know what? Tomorrow’s not looking so bad, all of asudden,” she said, relaxing more into his embrace, and encouraging his hand tostart massaging again. “So, what was that about a private celebration…?”
Niles grinned at her, “How about I take you upstairs andexplain further?”
“Sounds good to me,” C.C. reached up and planted a few softkisses on his lips, before sliding out of his lap to pull him to his feet. “Ithink I’ll need all the practice celebrations I can get, before our honeymoon…”
He let her pull him up, looking smug the whole time, “And I’d bedelighted to assist.”
C.C. laughed, “I bet you would, Scrub Brush!”
Hand in hand, they made their way upstairs. And all thewhile C.C. thought about how lucky she was, to be with a man who’d wait to giveher everything.
Even if it took her all the time in the world to realisewhat had been missing.
