                 She was back here again, carted to speak to her                  father for whatever reason. Presumably the doctors                  thought it would be helpful, but it wasn't. He was                  as useless as the rest of them, and she was too                  afraid--and too ashamed of it--to say what she                  really wanted to.

[reptile-talk]

A reptile as a service animal is an interesting idea. Do you suppose it might work with reptiles that do not need long periods of intense heat? I wouldn't take it out during the winter or even early spring, but my Fire Skink doesn't seem to bask like my other reptiles. He's also unusually tame and I try not to anthropomorphize him but he does seem to enjoy sitting on my shoulder for HOURS and looks around as I do housework and is friendly toward other people.... I could go on... and on..

Fire skinks still require heat, and basking spots, such and such. 

If anything, reptiles would be better therapy animals than service animals. In the way that people who are allergic or aren't really into cats and dogs, can hold them for short periods of time and care for them.

As for hauling them around outside with.. lets say-... Car exhaust, construction sites, loud noises, groups of people, no heat, places to hide, or an understanding of why they're out there? Still a no.

She followed him— for whatever reason he would do anything to hurt her child, she would everything in her power to protect him. Even if it meant losing her life. She had nothing else to lose. 

These were the thoughts that often plagued her mind on a daily basis.

"You should let him rest," she interrupted with a small clear of her throat. "I just bathed him and he’ll be irritable all night if you wake him now."

Was the other frog a new species too? I haven't cackled this hard in a long time. Thank you for sharing that.

Probably not. It looks like a juvenile Boophis, but it's impossible to be sure. It could also be a Stumpffia, but I rather think not. Unfortunately it's been in 70% ethanol for a while, so getting DNA from it  might be a struggle. But I think we may try.
