"Everyone ready to go back?" Gideon asked, taking a quick look at the jet to make sure all of you were there. You had an extortion case quite far from home, Miami to be exact, and you had a long flight back to Quantico, so the last thing he wanted was to forget someone.

Miami was a beautiful place that you would have liked to visit in other circumstances, that had nothing to do with crimes at all, since you had always felt a certain weakness for the warm climate, the sticky breeze, and the sound of the waves that were on the beach.

You had only had the chance to go to a mall to buy a new outfit, because yours had been completely ruined, while Morgan took advantage of the wait to buy an ice cream popsicle. It hadn't been a dream ride, but it was something at least.

“I feel like I could sleep for 90 hours straight,” you sighed, closing your eyes and falling into Spencer's side as usual. You two were the youngest, he was younger than you of course, so it was easier to connect with him than the other members of the team. You seemed to have similar interests and he was strangely comfortable with you.

“You would actually need to wake up periodically to expel fluids or you would risk bursting your bladder or even your bowels, because even though your digestive system shuts down when you sleep it only does so for a certain number of hours. Maybe you could sleep for 14 or 17 hours, which is what a baby sleeps, but 90 seems excessive to me even if you do not consume drinks or food before doing so”

"It's an expression, Reid" you laughed, but without the intention of making him feel bad for having answered you that way. Sometimes it was necessary to explain to him that you weren't being serious, as obvious as this seemed.

"You can sleep through the whole trip" he argued and although you still had your eyes closed you assumed that he had shrugged "I'll wake you up if you start snoring"

"I don't snore!" you defended yourself, playfully smacking him on the arm and hearing him laugh. Somehow watching him led you to remember a chain of events ending in the package you had carefully stowed in your bag and you almost jumped out of your seat the next second: "Wait, I just remembered something" you reported and went to the baggage area to rummage through your suitcase, taking just a few minutes to be back in your seat “I bought you this”

"Me?" he asked in disbelief. The others were on their own business enough to notice your conversation, making the moment a bit more private.

“I looked at it and just thought of you. Although I don't know if you're going to like it” you said shyly, handing him something wrapped in a paper bag with a store sticker on it. You had found the gift when you went shopping for your clean outfit and a part of you had been anxious all day to be able to give it to him to watch his reaction.

Reid looked at it curiously and handled it carefully, as if he were afraid it would fall apart in his fingers, until he managed to open it and took a piece of cloth from it.

"A scarf?"

“I saw you in one the other day and I thought you might like them. You know, you always wear your vests under your coats and your ties and you're always overdressed, but in a cute way” you laughed, while you pointed your hands at your body pretending to touch the pieces of his outfit "But it's okay if you don't want to wear it"

"No! I mean yes. I want to use it” he reassured you. Spencer held it out to look at it more carefully: it was purple, a stripe in the middle of patterned colored rhombuses intertwined with some embroidery of branches with leaves in black. "Did you know that the color purple is related to royalty because of how difficult it was to obtain the pigment before the Christian era? It is obvious that artificial dyes didn’t exist at that time, so everything they dyed the fabrics with had to be obtained from nature and that particular tone was quite difficult to obtain because it came from Bolinus brandaris, an extremely rare species of sea snail. To obtain 1 gram of this substance it is necessary to have 10,000 snails. And that gram was barely enough to dye a small piece. Its value and the difficulty in mass-producing it is due to the fact that the substance obtained had to be left to dry in the sun for a very precise time to be used later. Half a kilo of wool dyed in that color cost what would now be equivalent to around 300,000 euros,” he said, still holding the scarf as he rambled on. “Oh yeah, I… I knew all that before I bought it, I didn't choose it just because I think purple brings out your eyes” you blatantly lied, making your friend laugh tenderly.

“What I meant to say is that I like it” he added, a little embarrassed by the smile and attention with which you had been observing him. You always did that when he wandered off, leaving him helpless and not knowing how to react.

"You said it has to do with wisdom, right?" you exclaimed and he nodded gently "Do you think there's some weird psychological reason why my brain knew that and linked it to you or was it just a coincidence?"

"Well, it's hard to explain..." he began to say, turning a little in his seat to be closer to you and begin a long explanation about the connections that our brain creates with things and people.

You were completely exhausted but you didn't have the heart to stop him from saying anything he had to say and you listened intently as much as your body would allow, until eventually you were lulled to sleep by the sound of Spencer's soft voice. When he stopped hearing your hums he realized that you had already fallen asleep and he moved your body carefully until you were completely reclining on the chair, so that when you woke up the physical pain of sleeping on the plane would be less. He, for his part, stayed in the seat next to you sheltered your rest, and at some point ended up asleep too.

The day after she came back from Miami, Spencer was already wearing the scarf you gave him. He had matched it with a brown coat, a vest in a darker shade of purple than the scarf, and a white shirt that together made him look perfect. Also, his well-brushed straight hair fell to the side and his tanned skin looked particularly clean.

You didn’t need to tell him anything because the smile you gave him when you looked him up and down was reason enough for him to be flattered and also proud to receive your approval. All day you watched him, a bit for the garment and a bit for the very pleasure of admiring him, and you noticed that he frequently checked that everything about him looked good, as if he was trying to impress you. Every time he spoke he avoided looking at you, only at you, but you couldn't take your eyes off him.

The day after that he used it too and the next day and the next, to the point where it was strange to see him go anywhere without it, as if it had become a part of him. After a week, while they waited in the boardroom, Elle finally had the courage to face the situation and ask Spencer why the particular choice for something for everyday use.

"It's that his girlfriend gave it to him" answered Morgan, before the brunette could say anything.

"What? No! Y/N is not my girlfriend” he said, completely embarrassed and making sure with his eyes that you weren't around to hear that.

"Oh, now I understand" JJ joined the conversation.

"You understand what?"

“You are always taking care that it doesn’t get dirty or stained”

"Yes, I don't like my clothes to get ruined"

"But more so if it's something his girlfriend gave him" insisted Morgan and in a fit that no one expected Spencer took a ball of paper and threw it at his face. That just got a collective laugh.

"I just like it. That's all”

"We all know you like her, Reid," added Hotch, who had kept quiet thus far and didn't even look up from the files. He flushed red to the ears as the rest of the team shared another laugh, and just seconds later you and Gideon walked through the door.

"Good morning"

"Good morning" answered the others, like school children before the arrival of a teacher. There was one seat left next to Morgan that Gideon took and that forced you into the only remaining chair between Elle and Spencer.

“Did I miss something interesting?” you murmured, leaning into him and smiling close to his face.

"No" he replied kindly, feeling your gaze drop from his eyes.

"Your scarf," you said, reaching out your hands to move it a little around his neck "It was out of place"

Everyone else, except for Gideon, shared knowing glances and stifled giggles as they watched the nervous way he thanked you. It didn't help too much that for the entire meeting you were completely distracted looking at your partner next to you, making the whole team wonder when the two of you were finally going to end up kissing.

The unemployment rate in Gaza is 47% and more than 80% of its population lives in poverty, according to the United Nations. Hamas, however, has funded an armed force of thousands equipped with rockets and drones and built a vast web of tunnels under Gaza. Estimates of its annual military budget range from $100 million to $350 million, according to Israeli and Palestinian sources. 

As the U.S. House and Senate will be asking in separate hearings Wednesday and Thursday, where does all that cash come from?

Since coming to power in the Gaza Strip 17 years ago, Hamas has filled its coffers with hundreds of millions in international aid, overt and covert injections of cash from Iran and other ideological partners, as well as cryptocurrency, taxes, extortion and smuggling, according to current and former U.S. officials and regional experts.

Much of the money is public and legal, including large sums of financial aid from Qatar via the United Nations, an arrangement encouraged and approved by Israel. The Qatari aid covers the salaries of civil servants, buys fuel for the power grid and provides cash to needy families.

Some of it is less than legal, according to experts. In addition to levying taxes on Gaza’s businesses and residents, Hamas imposes unofficial fees on smuggled goods and other activity, for a combined income of up to $450 million per year. Hamas also has real estate and other investments around the globe, despite international restrictions, and uses cryptocurrency to mask some of its transactions.

Some of it may be fully illegal. A small portion of its budget seems to come from smuggling in South America, including drug smuggling.

Experts, enemies and Western governments have questioned whether Hamas mingles the money for its military operations with money meant for civilian use. Hamas could not be reached for comment. But Hamas representatives have said previously that the group strictly separates funding for the administration of Gaza from funding for its military wing, also known as the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades.

In the wake of the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israel that killed 1,400 people, some former Treasury Department officials and experts argue that the United States and its European allies need to crack down on the group’s global financial network.

Maybe a hot take or whatever but I see a fair few people saying how they hate Ohya and... I guess we read into her differently?

Like, the very first time we see her she's still trying to do legit reporting. In Royal, she's there in the station on Akira's very first day trying to find his way through the trains to Shujin, and then later when they're investigating Madarame. It's only really once you hit Kaneshiro that she's the drunkard in Crossroads that we know.

I went into my (watched)playthrough knowing that she was, technically, a romance option. Just like several other adult women in the game. And just like them, I think that the whole thing of "you can romance them if you want" has corrupted peoples' view of who they actually ARE.

If you remove the skeevy choices the devs put on these women, you get Kawakami as someone who just wants to support her students but is being financially extorted, Takemi who wants to help people as a doctor but rumours about her reputation precede her everywhere much like Akira's does, and Ohya, who wants to be a decent reporter but is being held back by the loss of her partner, and her strict boss.

Ohya also gets flak for things that happen during the confidant; she outright asks the protagonist, a 16-17 year old boy, to pose as her boyfriend, when she's in her mid-20's (according to the wiki). If this was played straight, and we took the romance route into consideration, that sure would squick me out! But... if we ignore that the romance route exists?

First we need to look at CONTEXT. She's not asking Akira to pose as her boyfriend for shits and giggles. She's doing this because she wants to be able to investigate the mental shutdown of her partner, Kayo, who she was very close to. Her boss won't let her, and has relegated her to "writing entertainment articles about the latest fads" - basically, fluff pieces that'll sell, but won't require the truth, or any talent.

Her asking Akira to play along means that she's able to tell her boss "I have an excuse for the reason I'm seen talking to this person. No, I am not using him as an informant, or trying to investigate something I've been ordered to leave well alone." She's well aware the relationship would be illicit. Part of the point of her story at this point - and the fact that there's a heart she needs changed, just like most of the other confidants - is that her boss would rather her be doing something illegal like this, than honest investigative work. She's also very cynical for these same reasons at the start of the confidant.

There's also something to be said about how she's the Devil Arcana of the game. Devil Arcana characters, according to the wiki:

These characters have given in to temptation at an earlier point in their life, and as a result this has twisted their actions and way of thinking. Preferably a brutal mix involving the little good they still have in themselves. The Social Link establishes their building their way back up to their path of benevolence. It is not necessarily an easy recovery, as these individuals need to reflect on not only what they believed in, but why they went on the wrong track in the first place.

So, yeah. She's not supposed to read as a good, upstanding and moral person when you first meet her, and P5R tends to open the links with characters in rather reversed reads of their Arcana regardless!

What I see in Ohya is a journalist who winds up finding something to believe in again, who decides to start doing investigative journalism again regardless of whether her bosses agree with it, and who'd probably be a cool older sister type... even if she would encourage Akira to get the actual booze or any number of things he shouldn't really be doing.

I... also see her as, if not lesbian then at least bisexual, and still very hung up over Kayo. SO. Yeah, no, I can't see her actually having an interest in a kid so soon after all that. In my eyes she's just "kid, no."

Alright, I can give you all a little Garnett lore now >:)

Garnett grew up at the foot of the badlands dam, in a little neighborhood ever-consumed in the smog of burning trash. At 17, along with his brothers Adrian and Gabriel, Garnett joined 6th Street and served with them for almost a decade. He joined 6th Street with aspirations of protecting the community he knew as family, but was met with a gang like any other. Extortion, drug manufacturing, theft. He stayed to be by his brothers’ side as long as he could force himself to, determined to stay with the only family he had left, but finally left after being ordered to kill a shopkeeper who refused to pay for 6th Street’s “protection”. The soldiers he’d served beside beat him half to death for what they dubbed cowardice, and with nowhere else to turn, he went to Dogtown, where Colonel Hansen nearly finished the beating 6th Street started. But Garnett was more than determined to prove himself. A man with his combat training and experience with the public was accepted into BARGHEST with open arms, excelling through training and taking flight as a soldier. He started out in the Prevention Unit, a seeming fit for a former militia member, but Garnett’s prowess was wasted there at the gate where a scanner did all the work. He was eagle-eyed, attentive beyond belief and quick to react. Briefly he worked as a sniper with units collecting airdrops, quickly moving up to working security in the stadium, and after 2 years, Garnett would find himself in the Black Sapphire’s own sniper nest. From there on top of the world, he hardly realized how far his aspirations had gone astray. Once aiming to protect his community, he’d become a guard dog for the rich and powerful. And soon, it’d all be ripped out from under him. 

Sorry for the novel, I'm deranged about my ocs lol. Garnett's one of the protags for my PL side plot, so there'll be a lot more about him to follow!! I uh went off the tangent.

Okay, YES

Mafia Boss Charles Leclerc has his rival's son (Not a rival, more like pesky little bug he needs out of his way.) and he is already not a fan of this kidnapping an innocent omega thing because he was raised better than this. He talks with action, he plays politics with people who get in his way, not an innocent omega who has to legally live with his father (In this universe, no alpha, no independence.)

Arthur convinces Charles that this is the least risky way to handle this situation with (Maybe the only reason Jos is a threat is because he got hands on some intel.) so Charles agrees on the condition that no one else but himself will see and house the omega.

Now, Victoria is an alpha and has been trying to free her brother from their father's "Ownership" forever. When Jos betrayed their clan by breaking their alliance (between the group led by Sophie and Jos) their entire clan had fallen apart and now Victoria had taken the reigns to bring them back to their glory while Sophie guides her.

Enemies of your enemies are your friends, eh?

So, Charles is contacted by Victoria and she explains him the power struggle going on in Netherlands. Charles decides to back Victoria as it gives him a local hand over Jos and, frankly, he cares more about Monaco and France and does not want to bother himself with the Netherlands issue. He agrees to kidnap Victoria's older brother and return him to Victoria in exchange for his intel being secured and returned to him.

Lorenzo, his brother and chief of extortions and arms kidnaps Max and sends him to a safe house from where Arthur collects him and takes him to Charles' house.

Let's reel back to our star Omega, Max.

He has been forced to live with his father since the schism and the only reason he is kept alive is because he is leverage over Sophie and Victoria. He is the only omega of his family and by virtue of society and it's expectations, he is deemed as the "Pride" of Verstappen-Kumpens. Whoever has him has the upper hand and until now that has been Jos.

He has lived with his father who has never treated him as anything more than a good-for-nothing omega. His father tried to make someone breed him as soon as he presented as "ready for pregnancy" so that he can gain leverage with a child and an omega (He was 17.) but was able to convince the alpha (Oscar) to leave him be and tell Jos that he is infertile. Got him beaten up and unconscious for a day but at least he was safe. Cue, Max being kidnapped. Best fucking thing that has happened to him. He is brought into an alpha's house and shit. Shit actually this might be worse. The alpha could breed him and then even his sister wouldn't be able to save him but the alpha is nice? He kept Max bound for the first two days and when Max showed nothing but compliance he was free to move around the house. The alpha sat with him, hand fed him (Max's injury during the kidnapping rendered him unable to do so. The man from Jos' clan who hit him was found and killed in front of the omega and look he may have grown up in blood but no one had ever killed for him so fuck you if you think it is weird to get turned on.) Max had never been tended and loved and cherished so much in his entire life and now he wants this. He wants Charles for himself. Best way? Get fucked mate! Mission Seduction is on. When Charles would bathe him (His injuries were never serious enough to get bathed by someone else but when a hot alpha asks, you don't say no.) he would buck up into Charles' warm hands and look at the Alpha who was clenching his jaws and trying to control himself. When Charles would hand feed him, he'd wrap his mouth around Charles' fingers and watch his resolve crumble under the omega's ministrations. Eventually, Charles gets frustrated with the sexual tension omega and confronts. Max tells him the truth. Not about wanting to get fucked senseless and bred by the pretty alpha-- the one about his father, the one where he has started falling in love with the alpha along the way. Charles gives in, allows himself to have the omega he desired and they make love but Charles refuses to bond because he had promised Max to Victoria. As much as Max loves his sister he wants to go away from Netherlands. He wants to live in Monaco with the Red Prince and he will. Max makes it his personal mission to break Charles. He'd dress up in pretty clothes, entice positions never tried before, completely submit to Charles. The fact that Charles still refused was frustrating but also made him fall a little more. However, it turns out. The trick was pretty simple. Pierre comes to meet Charles and Max throws himself at Pierre. Pierre is confused and unaware of the whole situation but doesn't say anything. The moment Pierre leaves, Charles is all over him, threatening to claim Max, asking whom he belongs to and Max can't say anyone but Charles. He folds the way Charles wants him to and pulls Charles' hands up to his soft, flat stomach and asks Charles to put a pup in him. Ah, well, Charles at least tried for a while. God knows what he will tell Victoria. He hopes she will bless them as Max says she will.

And the Staff gets removed fully in the au by Wukong early on, so that thing is just sitting around the apartment most days, looking like a weird coat rack.

Then Xiaotian just freaking *grabs it* one day and the fams are all freaking out. Both from the implication of the little kid's power, and also because little Red just got a hard bonk from it.

Wukong: "Nobody panic! Maybe the staff...lost weight??" *tries picking up the Staff without shrinking it first* *crack!* Wukong, wheezing and clutching his lower back: "Nope. Still 17+ kilograms. MK was too young to remember that it was the Real Staff, but he knows that he hurt Red bad that day, and tries to make it up to him a lot.

Red in the Au gets left with a small bonus scar on his forehead from the incident.

And yes, he frequently pulls the "remember when you hit me with that iron staff?" card on Xiaotian growing up to extort him for hugs and noodles.

Samuel Ogoshi, 22, and Samson Ogoshi, 20, each pleaded guilty to conspiring to sexually exploit teenage boys, US Attorney Mark Totten said in a statement.

The Lagos brothers face a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years and a maximum of 30 years behind bars, US Attorney for the Western District of Michigan Mark Totten said in a statement.

They were originally charged with conspiracy to sexually exploit minors, conspiracy to distribute child porn and conspiracy to commit stalking over the internet in a plot against dozens of young men and teen boys in the US.

In exchange for the plea agreement, the other charges will be dropped.

“Today’s guilty pleas represent an extraordinary success in the prosecution of international sextortion,” Totten said in the release. “These convictions will send a message to criminals in Nigeria and every corner of the globe: working with our partners both here and overseas, we can find you and we can bring you to justice.” 

He continued: “I hope these guilty pleas also bring a small measure of relief to the family of Jordan DeMay, who died as a result of this crime.  Of course, the job is not done. 

“The Ogoshi brothers await sentencing later this year, and we are still pursuing the extradition of the third defendant, Ezekiel Robert,” Totten added.

DeMay, 17, was  found dead in his home of a self-inflicted gunshot wound March 25, 2022, after an Instagram account officials said was run by the three Nigerian men threatened to release explicit photos of the teen if he did not pay $1,000.

For DeMay’s death, Samuel had faced a maximum penalty of life in prison after he was additionally charged with sexual exploitation and attempted sexual exploitation of a minor resulting in death.

The Marquette teen took his his own life after he was contacted by an Instagram account with the username “@dani.robertts,” officials have said.

“I can send this [sic] nudes to everyone and also send your nudes Until it goes viral,” Samuel messaged DeMay after the teen sent an explicit photo of himself, officials said.

Though the account appeared to be run by a woman, prosecutors said it was actually one of the several hacked profiles the sextorting trio used to entice and manipulate DeMay and others.

Despite being asked for $1,000, DeMay sent only $300, which prompted Samuel to threaten to forward the image to the high school football player’s family and friends.

The Ogoshis — who had previously been extradited from Nigeria to stand trial — were remanded to the custody of federal marshals after pleading guilty.

A Nigerian court recently ordered Robert, 19, the third defendant, to be extradited to the US, but he has appealed that decision and the matter is before the country’s High Court, officials said.

 “Financial sextortion is a rising and very serious threat targeting our minors nationwide and this case shook the very core of our Michigan community,” Cheyvoryea Gibson, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI in Michigan, said in a statement.

“We encourage the public to have open and honest conversations with their loved ones surrounding sextortion and to take heed of the warning signs,” Gibson said. “If you believe you or someone you know has become a victim of this crime, please contact the FBI by calling 1-800-CALL-FBI or submitting a tip at tips.fbi.gov.”

The kidnapping of Barbara Mackle on December 17, 1968, reads like a scene from a horror movie. The young 20-year-old Emory University student was recovering from the flu with her mother at a Decatur, Georgia hotel when two people burst into the room. Gary Stephen Krist, along with Ruth Eisemann-Schier, had concocted a twisted plan to extort money from Barbara’s wealthy father.

With a chloroform-soaked rag, the attackers subdued the two women and dragged them out of the hotel room. They then whisked Barbara away to a remote location in Gwinnett County where they had pre-dug a trench. There, they had prepared a fiberglass-reinforced box fitted with an air pump, food, water, and a lamp laced with sedatives. They put Barbara inside the box and demanded a staggering $500,000 ransom from her father.

The FBI and local police were soon hot on their trail. A ransom drop was arranged, but two police officers driving by spooked the kidnappers and forced them to flee on foot, leaving Barbara trapped underground for three agonizing days. Miraculously, she was rescued unharmed, but the kidnappers were soon apprehended.

Krist and Eisemann-Schier were both eventually caught and sentenced to prison, with Eisemann-Schier becoming the first woman to ever appear on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list. Shockingly, Ruth was paroled after just four years, while Gary was released after serving ten years in prison.

ok, so, a little background to start out with. i (17 F) recently recieved a major job opportunity which has the chance to completely turn my life around. i'm a leader in my local community, which has really been struggling the past couple of years, and this break is exactly what we need to turn things around. there are, in short, a lot of people counting on this.

the thing is, i kind of have to compete for this opportunity. there are a lot of people who want it, and we're all going to be tested together to make sure we have what it takes. i was instructed to bring someone along to protect me, because it's probably going to get...competitive. let's just say, i'm not the only one counting on this.

i do have a personal bodyguard (35 M) already, but he's not very good at his job and he really isn't the image i want to project to the other competitors. luckily, there is another person (18 F) who has the necessary skillset and could be trained pretty easily to do the job. the thing is, she and i absolutely hate each other, and have since we were little kids, so i had to trick extort convince her to go with me.

ever since we arrived, she's been struggling to focus. granted, she listened when i told her not to speak to anyone (i have her faking a vow of silence), but she has insisted on fraternizing with the competition. i cannot understand this impulse, as we were the only two people in our age group back home, and we were always fine.

i would be somewhat willing to put up with all this if not for the fact that she's been getting particularly close with one of our more dangerous rivals (25-ish F). the woman (who i will call Rival for the sake of anonymity, as some of this information is actually quite sensitive) is actively dying, but this has only made me more suspicious of her. i don't know what her goals are and i suspect that she's capable of more than she's letting on. also, i have very good reason to believe that her bodyguard is extremely dangerous. I have warned my bodyguard about this (without sharing the reasons), but she refuses to believe me.

my bodyguard has been keeping "rival" company, carrying things for her, and helping her walk places for about as long as we've been here. also, i fear rival has been flirting with my bodyguard, and i think she's falling for it.

all that to say, rival's health recently took a turn for the worse, and my bodyguard just saw two children die on her watch, which she's pretty broken up about. between these two things, all my bodyguard wants to do is spend time in rival's sickroom to keep her company in what are probably her final days. i have told my bodyguard that that is absolutely unacceptable, but she won't listen to me.

i am in physical danger, and i can't have her slacking off just because she's never felt the touch of a woman before and a pretty girl leaned on her arm and complimented her biceps. we just had a major fight about this.

she says i'm being heartless, and she accused me of being jealous, which i am NOT. i just want her to focus on me and do what we came here to do. i don't think it's too much to ask. she's really, really mad though, so much so that i'm less certain.
