We will ensure it. This will work. Avalir be damned. // from “Fire and Ruin”
Further fantasies of an animated Exandria Unlimited in the style of Legend of Vox Machina, this time with me trying some shots of Laerryn Coramar-Seelie. I had a lot of fun with these!

You are a level 14 abjuration wizard with 142 hit points and are responsible for making sure the technology that keeps your floating city in the air works. You are secretly fucking with said technology so you can transport your floating city to other planes. You believe that gods are not special and have said so out loud. Your changeling ex husband is the face of the city’s news and he is insufferable but also you kept his last name and still actively wear perfume that smells like the flowers at your wedding. You also have accidentally almost oneshotted a man with a high level fireball. Every day Laerryn Coramar-Seelie wakes up.

THIS IS MY CITY.
Laerryn Coramar-Seelie, the Heart of Avalir, the world’s doom and the world’s salvation. I loved her the moment she was introduced and loved her all the more with each moment in the story.

All the knowledge of Avalir survived for at least a little bit longer. The knowledge and legacy of the Brass Ring survived for just a little bit longer
I haven’t finished Campaign 1, nor seen Campaign 2 yet. But I know that there is a character introduced called Planerider Ryn, who is a tiefling who was (is?) still alive centuries after the Calamity. Skimming her wiki…Planerider Ryn studies arcane ley lines, and Laerryn both studied and created a ley line. Ryn studies the same minute shifts in magical energy that Laerynn was looking for at the start of the Apogee Solstice, and has probably been tracking closely for centuries. Based on the last episode of the Calamity arc…I’m going to assume that knowledge of the Brass Ring still exists somewhere. That Laerryn’s name still exists, and is still recognized by at least a few people as one of the ones who made the Calamity survivable, because Cerrit survived, and I believe he would tell the story of his friends. Of their mistakes, and what they did to try to fix them. And maybe Planerider Ryn is named after Laerryn Coramar-Seelie, and maybe the Brass Ring does have a legacy, after all. Maybe Planerider Ryn is part of that legacy

god but exu: calamity has me so emotional
because the betrayer gods’ hatred didn’t doom the world, and the wizards’ spite and pride in their magic and their city didn’t doom the world, and we see that now after last episode. hatred and spite are powerful motivators, and pride, of course, but love is far, far stronger.
and love to the point of pride, pride as a weapon of love, that is what doomed the world and it is heartbreaking and beautiful, and it was love, it was powerful and genuine love and that innately mortal desire to protect what can be hurt and taken from you with everything you have, love is what doomed the world and what opened the door for the betrayers to return - and laerryn and the others were manipulated, of course they were, and she had no way to know what would happen as she cast that spell but it never mattered because she never for a moment cared what might happen because that tree that fucking tree it hurt her best friend and it hurt her husband and laerryn is proud and foolish and short-sighted as we all are but she loves so, so deeply and so, so completely that as asmodeus split that tree she’d never liked, i bet she thought ‘fine. as long as my husband is alive, it is worth what you will do.’
and that is why the world will burn and the gods will lock themselves away because a mortal’s love and hubris are not distinct. how often in these tales do we hear how love conquered all? how brave love makes one feel, to the point of challenging gods? how often does it ring true that due to a mortal’s love for their friend, their family, their city, their world, they find the strength, they find a means to victory from that love? and how fast that line blurs, how suddenly you realize that for love you have not saved the world but doomed it. and how soon do you realize that you do not regret it
