Going to go with DS9 for your "5 things you'd change" ask meme. Curious to hear your thoughts :з

send me a tv show/book/fandom and i’ll say the top 5 things i’d change about it

So, I'm biased and I'm tumblr user ezrisdax which means I need Ezri to exist but that said I'd change how Jadzia died. I've personally never been a fan of that, the ending and how she said her goodbye to Worf and Sisko was fine but Dukat killing her like that just...did not appeal to me at all, I hated that. Now how I'd have her die I don't know. Maybe while she was stuck in the Changeling mind trap place they gave her a drug and it's been slowly tearing down her ability to host the symbiont. (maybe that also means it can be removed but Jadzia has to be rushed to Trill and in a coma and thus gone for a time and Ezri is there still, I can still come up with Jadzia lives AUs right?). Or have her die defending the station just not...turning around and hey Dukat is there. At least let her get one punch in to him please.

Ezri and Julian and I don't have to expand on that, dear god, no.

Worf and Jadzia's wedding, not the wedding itself but the lack of the TNG characters. Like yeah I get not wanting to pay them etc etc but also listen, I need Jadzia and Deanna meeting properly and teasing Worf. It has always bothered me they weren't there for his wedding.

Jadzia's lack of interaction with other characters after Worf's arrival. I do feel starting season five it gets really bad; she doesn't have a lot of interactions with the others that don't also involve Worf in some capacity after that and while I do enjoy that ship I wanted more weird Trill adventures as it's own thing.

Alexander's whole thing in DS9, I didn't think it fit him at all and I absolutely hated it. Like first of all he should have just been with Worf anyway I thought we went through this in TNG and second of all he's never been interested in the Klingon stuff and he shouldn't have to and then why did they make him an idiot at it? He was a smart kid, c'mon.

Did I say top five? Just kidding here's more because I can't decide. Everything about Profit and Lace. I tend to skip over that episode during rewatches and it's bad. I think they should have brought Pel back instead and have another episode with her where it shows how much she's flourished and profited in the Gamma Quadrant.

I minute thing that's also always bothered me, Mirror Jadzia dies for....???? reasons? Like Ezri in the Mirror verse is Ezri Tigan, she doesn't have or need the symbiont and they just drop that Jadzia is dead that episode for zero reasons, like why couldn't she be away on a mission or something. I'm sorry but that stuck in my head and ate away at me for the longest time.

Sisko and Ezri and the lack of a relationship in any way after the third episode of season seven. Like she Dax and she pulls him back in and I think them navigating a new relationship again where this time Sisko is the mentor figure would be way way way more interesting then the Ezri/Julian storyline they stuck in instead.

VIC FONTAINE. I hate that fucking holoprogram. Too many episodes were about him and why the fuck is there an alive mirror verse version of him?????

Screw SNW I want a DS9 musical episode.

constantly quietly seething with rage over the way the ds9 writers SNUBBED ziyal and ezri i swear to god!! literally how do you take a half-bajoran half-cardassian girl who is the daughter of an awful awful man who she still can't help but love because she has no one else, who has spent all her childhood in a lonely prison camp, who loves to paint and who loves her adoptive mother figure kira nerys, how do you take a character like that and decide that the only ending worth giving her is an uncomfortable last-minute probably one-sided romance with a man her father's age, and then an unceremonious death in a hallway??? how????

in the same vein, ezri, ezri.... her arc started off so well, they gave her so many episodes dedicated to figuring herself out and trying to sort out her new life post-symbiosis, prodigal daughter was a wonderful episode, she and worf decided they were better off as friends, and then... then somehow within the last five or ten episodes, they ruined it?? everyone seemed to do something really big, something given a ton of attention by the narrative, except ezri, who was just reduced to being a last-minute love interest for julian- i swear, the julian/ezri thing is goddamn lucky the garak/ziyal shit exists, because if not for that weird no homo creepy age gap bullshit, jezri would've been the worst romance on the show. look at poor julian, everyone, jadzia never loved him even though he was sooooo nice to her, poor guy! :( it's okay, though, because EZRI loves him! here ya go, buddy! a girlfriend as a reward for waiting so long! how sweet of you to settle for "just" being jadzia's trusted valued and cherished friend when she didn't wanna fuck you :) those last couple sentences are all HEAVY sarcasm if you can't tell. kill me. justice for tora ziyal and ezri dax.

@replicarters sent me via DM a whole list of episodes that is a mood because when asked which episode is my favorite I will either blank completely or say at least five of them

so here goes

the siege — how we were supposed to buy that Kira’s love interest after this episode was Vedek Bareil and not Jadzia?? I personally don’t. Also, it was very entertaining to see Jadzia being so thoroghly trolled by Kira in every possible way. STILL THE ONLY EPISODE WITH A KIRA/JADZIA AWAY MISSION and that’s A TRAVESTY (I’m pretty sure Terry agrees with me)

blood oath — see previous posts, but also Jadzia in the Klingon armor? hell yeah. I should rewatch this episode honestly. Especially Kira doing the shoulder grab

equilibrium sort of lmao at least up until it sort of stops being about jadzia — You know what, you’re right. Not even halfway though the episode completely stops being about Jadzia and that’s... bad. We saw a sliver of Trill I suppose? (hashtag fuck the symbiosis commission)

fascination LMFAO — I CANNOT rewatch “Fascination”, it’s too much second hand embarrassment, how do you do it. I remember the episode through gif sets

past tense 1 and 2 —Jadzia coming out of a manhole shaming 21st century earth in a pinstripe suit. VERY GOOD EPISODES

way of the warrior is like the real marked shift into horny party worm territory and i love that — I will never stop pointing out that in this episode Jadzia goes in the holosuite with Kira, and then she’s always shown in them with Worf. She does like to bring the grumpy, stuck up ones out of their shell uh (she totally has a type, Lenara falls in this category as well, don’t @ me I’m right)

the visitor if only because she gets to be old ;_; — WOW make me cry will you!! I love the part she had in the Visitor, taking care of Jake once Benjamin was gone in the alternate timeline. I think it’s obvious that Jadzia just did everything she could to help Jake when he tried to bring Benjamin back. ;_;

sword of kahless — this episode  is not on many lists is it? It’s a pity because it’s really good imo. Jadzia being the sensible one in the party is also something that doesn’t happen very often! I love it.

the quickening — aw it’s definitely THE Julian & Jadzia episode to me. AND Jadzia has her hair down thoughout it, that’s definitely a plus. A rewatch is in order

the ship — I get frankly stumped talking about “The Ship” because the way they portrayed Muniz makes me cringe so much, if the episode had been better at that I’d love it because it’s a really good idea, and one of the rare times we see people noticing that Jadzia’s humor becomes... a little mean and a little too much when she feels powerless. (She often jokes around when she’s wounded too — see “Starship Down” or “Change of Heart”)

looking for par'mach — I love this stupid horny episode with my entire heart, I just laugh so much every time! Worf and Jadzia are so dumb and I love them.

things past — what’s not to love about Jadzia punching Dukat in the neck and breaking everyone out of jail with a blowtorch?

soldiers of the empire — [chef’s kiss]

children of time tbh – “Children of Time” is just. I don’t hate it, I actually like it, I just can’t watch it lightly because it’s a punch in the gut after another??? Man it’s one of the few episodes where Jadzia has to really confront the guilt for her own action and it is h a r d to watch. SO so hard. The scene where Jadzia and Kira hold hands before Jadzia has to crash the ship and condemn Kira to die? Just kill me I can’t go through that without pausing the episode for a moment.

change of heart dont @ me — I won’t @ you because I like it as well but I mean, see above? I hate seeing Jadzia suffering so much and almost dying (especially knowing what happens later :|). it is however my absolute favorite Worf/Jadzia episode and I stand by that. Also, the lizard, and the fact that Trills hate warm weather.

shadows and symbols — [bangs pots and pans together] nobody talks about the fact the Ezri was the one who threw the baseball in the place where Sisko found the Orb of the Emissary!!! Exactly like Jadzia was with Benjamin when they found the wormhole!!!!! What does it mean! (DS9 tell me how Dax is related to the Prophets. Is it because both joined Trills and the prophets experience time in a non-linear way?) But anyway what a good introduction to another good worm. I really like this episode (even if the whole Sisko-is-part-prophet is... not great to say the least), the way both Ezri and Ben are messed up when they first meet, and they help each other to get better (even if.. not always in the most straightforward ways). The epic journey through the desert, the way people on the station are absolutely stunned to learn that Dax is back, however differently. I love it. I’m probably going to rewatch it stat.

I barely see any of this which is funny to me cause their mirrorverse pair is married for god sakes. but anyway I like both the mirrorverse pair of them and the main pair itself. I just think Ezri needs someone who would let her ramble and just get it? And also maybe not be someone Jadzia was involved with that much. I know Leeta and Jadzia were friends but like they weren’t as close and Leeta seems the most chill about Dax switching hosts. She’s a go with the flow person and Ezri could learn that at times too.

idk, I mostly just think they are cute and had potential and it was a shame we only got a season of Ezri so they don’t interact as much

I once made an au gifset of this pairing because I just like the idea of them meeting and Tasha as security always coming in injured and Ogawa helping her out and them talking and getting to know each other over time and then getting to spend time together outside of sickbay and I just think?? it could be cute?? they could be cute?? give Ogawa a girlfriend pls.

now I’m not sure how much this qualifies as a rare pair anymore, it def would meet the criteria on ao3 so I’m counting it. my god the looks between these two, the way Joann has been there for Keyla this season and noticed right away something was off and has just been reaching out. I’d love to see more of them interacting, what we do get each episode is small but it does give me hope they actually might head there some day? Like I’m not used to getting the potential of canon, it’s wild.

I do wish they’d delve more into their backstory and give me more details about Joann but I do accept these two aren’t main characters and then that gives me leave to make this however much I want of a big deal. to me they’re a big deal and I just need them to get together, I want to see that relationship develop.

oh man I just checked and technically by ao3 rules which is to say if you have less than 200 fics on there, they count as a rare pair. That’s just sad to me because I do feel they should have a lot more and wow I’ve only written one fic for them??? I gotta fix that at some point.

These two!!!! I don’t have enough words to explain how much it means to these how these two hug and hold hands and are just there for each other!! all the time!! always in each others corners!! trying to cheer each other up!! jumping in to help the other without hesitation!! I need more of it, like what they’ve given me is great but I miss these two being roommate buddies this season, please give me another shot of them in their room just talking to each other about what Michael’s been through the year she was in the future without them.

Like this I’ve accepted I’ll not get as canon, I’m not expecting it and that’s fine but I still enjoy every scene they get to have with each other and they are just so cute ; ; I love them both so much and please kiss, I know I just said I accepted it but please.

okay this one counts too apparently! now a lot of my feelings for these two you can blame @trillscienceofficer because she encourages me with these two but like there’s so much there.

there’s the whole outsiders together thing going on they have, the whole somewhat antagonistic but also a huge amount of respect for each other thing, the whole pushing each other to be better, there’s just a lot with these two that I enjoy.

I think Seven does need someone who would call her on the bullshit of trying to remain logical and unemotional and B’Elanna needs someone with a cooler head at times to make her see beyond just her immediate reaction. I really enjoy that over time you can see this relationship between them grow into a friendship and I just like to imagine more from there.

tom dies in the pilot and I get stadi au is like...one of my fave aus. they’d be so much fun together! Stadi enjoyed the teasing and I can def see her doing that with B’Elanna and sure there’d be some antaganism at first because Starfleet vs Maquis stuff but they’d get there and I just wanted to see it. I just like to imagine it happening in my head.

oh my god I did not expect this to count but I do think it might just be a bigger thing on tumblr than elsewhere. or maybe that’s just me. anyway, these two! one of my top trek femslash ships! like c’mon Uhura straight up “she’s beautiful” and I’m expected to not take it this way?

I’ve talked about these two so much at times before so I think I don’t have too much to say here beyond....Uhura deserved a girlfriend and T’Pring deserved to see what else what out there beyond Vulcan men. and they deserved to have a proper conversation with each other and do Vulcan kisses and human kisses.
