“And here we have former F2 champion and the first Williams' driver to win a race since Pastor Maldonado-” you heard Ted call your name as the camera man shoved his lens in your face. “Have a second to talk?”

“Always for you, Ted,” you put on your sparkliest smile for the camera and leant against the railing outside the hospitality building you had been seconds away from entering.

“You and Alex did well in qualifying, did that send some well needed morale throughout the team?”

“P6 and P10. Not too bad, eh? Of course doing well in quali is always a mood boost.”

“While I have you I have to ask about Lewis' contract negotiations.”

You groaned, “you were doing so well, Ted!”

This particular topic had followed you since you’d joined the Mercedes Junior team alongside George in 2017. You became their test driver in 2019 with all eyes watching as you became the first female driver to win the F2 championship. George had been promised an eventual Mercedes seat first and you were happy to wait your turn at Williams.

George hadn’t exactly been thrilled as he watched you accomplish more with the midfield team than he had ever been able to; scoring five podiums and one win since you’d joined the team three seasons ago.

“I know, I know, but the rumour around the paddock is that you’re next in line for the Mercedes seat when Lewis retires.”

“If Lewis retires. And I don’t think he will.” Toto had come to you as soon as they had started contract negotiations. He’d told you flat out that they wanted to keep the former world champion on the team.

“So there’s no plans for you to reunite with your former team mate?”

“Not that I’m aware, no. Alex and I work well together and I’m quite happy with how things are going. We won a race last year, had a few podiums-”

“And the season’s been looking good this year. You’ve gotten points in every race so far.”

“I know! In a Williams!”

“In a Williams!” Suddenly, Ted did what you’d hope he wouldn’t and noticed where you were standing. “I know we’ve been talking about a move to Mercedes, but how about a move to McLaren?”

The cameraman zoomed out to show you leaning against the railing outside McLaren hospitality.

“Would you believe it if I told you they’re the only team that has the name brand Wagon Wheels?”

It didn’t seem like he believed you. “You’ve come all the way to McLaren for biscuits?”

“Not just biscuits, Ted. Wagon Wheels. Plus I need to rub my three hundredths of a second lead in Lando’s face.”

“A true quality of a good sportswoman.” He could sense you were getting fidgety as you kept checking your watch, so like a professional he began to wrap it up. “Lovely talking to you as always, I’ll leave you to your Wagon Wheels.”

“If I see you later I’ll sneak you one,” you grinned as you finally slipped away to enter the building.

“What took you so long? I saw you outside ten minutes ago.” He’d tossed his phone on the couch beside him as soon as you’d stepped foot into his room, shrugging off your spray jacket. He held his arms out wide, a silent signal for you to move into his reach, which you happily did as his hands found rest on your waist.

“Got caught talking to Ted about my move to Mercedes,” your words were mumbled through a mouthful of biscuit and marshmallow. You hadn’t been lying about the Wagon Wheels.

He pulled you forward until your knees hit the couch, forcing you onto his lap. “When did that happen?”

Licking chocolate off your lips you smirked, “It didn’t. Hi baby,” you slung your arms over his shoulders and his cold hands slipped beneath your tee-shirt.

“I missed you today.”

“You saw me in the pit lane an hour ago.”

“I know, but it’s not the same. I missed this,” he squeezed the flesh on your hips, his lips catching the underside of your jaw when you moved your head back. “You coming to my room tonight?”

“I dunno,” you fiddled with the drawstrings on his hoodie, twisting them around you finger. “Got a big race to prepare for tomorrow. Gotta keep my lead.”

You knew you should sleep alone before the race and get the full eight hours your coach was always talking about, but this man had his fingers wrapped around your heart and you knew it wouldn’t take much of his pleading or puppy dog eyes to end up in the same bed.

“Baby,” his little whine was always the same when he wasn’t getting his way, and you hated to admit it was adorable. And hard to turn down.

“We’re not having sex.”

He nodded, “just cuddling. I’ll even come to your room.”

“You say that but we’ll get in bed and you’ll try something,” you knew from experience. It’d happened before and all the thoughts about sleep and rest went out of your head the second he had his head between your thighs.

“I won’t, I swear. I’ll shower before I come over, I still have those pictures-”

“Lando,” you didn’t need to be reminded of the photos hidden away behind a passcode on Snapchat.

“Pretty please? I won’t even say anything if you want to watch that show you like.”

“You wanna watch Never Have I Ever?”

“No,” he drew out the syllable and you could feel him fidget beneath you. “But I’ll sit next to you and play on my phone while you watch it.”

“What did I ever do to deserve you,” it came out sarcastically but he just grinned, pressing his lips against your own.

“Do you think we have time for a-”

“Do not even think of finishing that question," you glared at him as he had the audacity to pout, his tongue flicking out to wet his bottom lip as his fingers crept up to tug on the hook of your bra. "You have ten minutes."

Lando joins Mercedes alongside George Russell for the 2026 season. George expects it to go poorly, incredibly so. And he's correct. The characterizations in this one are clear and feel very real, the tangled emotions and the potential catastrophes falling slowly into something terrible and wonderful and complex. Alex's involvement in the whole ordeal turns it into a wonderful exploration of the 2019 rookies.

Lewis was right, ultimately, George thinks; his only consolation is that it isn’t Alex who he’s going to destroy, who’s going to destroy him. Maybe Lando is a little more oblivious, but — no, no, he knows they will consume each other and themselves, if not this year then next, if not the next then not long after. Nico still floats around the paddock on race weekends like a lost moon, still interviews Lewis with longing heavy in his voice. Lewis speaks to him like he would any other reporter. George doesn’t want to do that to Lando, either. He doesn’t want Lando to do that to him. “Thrilled, of course, Lando’s a good mate,” he tells the press, with vacant eyes and a fixed smile. “No one deserves the Merc drive more than him.”

In this magical realism AU, Lando and Oscar are both still McLaren drivers, with one small twist: they both have powers. The worldbuilding in this fic was exceptional: vivid and so well developed, I could picture it all unfolding before my eyes. Both Lando and Oscar's powers fit them so well, and I love how the author carefully built the development of their relationship around them becoming more comfortable with each other's abilities. Despite all powers, though, they are still so very Lando and Oscar at the core of this fic, and I loved the characterisation and writing so much.

But now that Lando is the senior driver, he's supposed to be the one who handles his feelings with maturity, not hopelessly crushing on a younger rookie. This isn't ogling handsome Carlos from afar; he wants to wrap Oscar in a blanket and make him hot chocolate and know that he's okay. He wants to see Oscar smile not just because it's pretty but because he genuinely cares about his happiness. That part is new.

Daniel discovers Max's Twitch stream and quickly becomes obsessed with them. This fic explores Max and Daniel getting to know each other and learn each other. I really liked the Max characterisation in this. Very direct but also very open to learn. One of my favourite parts is the mod group chat and how it serves as extra information for the reader, set's the tone nicely and helps you understand the overal context of Max and Daniel.

“I should probably explain my different set-up. This is not permanent. I will be back to my normal room at home in two weeks but for now, I am visiting my boyfriend.” electricsld: oh! a boyfriend! andpussycats: say more max dr3rd: yeah maxy, say more “Well, he is very sweet and he does not mind that I need to stream while I visit him. We live in different places, so we, of course, do not get to see each other very often, but it has been very nice to visit.” dr3rd: is he handsome? Max wants to roll their eyes at Daniel fishing for compliments but they contain themself. “Yes, very handsome. So handsome I cannot believe he picked me.”

I Know Your Name (But Not Who You Are) by @wanderingblindly | Charles/Max | T | 7.7k

Charles isn't in Monaco anymore, instead, now he's in Arizona. He's suffered loss at the hands of racing. Max turns up unexpectedly. Great fic if you want to cry and sob and scream into your pillow at 2 am! Amazing writing that just makes you want to lie in bed and contemplate life :) this is such an underrated fic!

There’s not another soul in the desert, just the brief rustle of an autumnal breeze ghosting along the loose earth. But behind Charles’s eyelids, in the space between him and the world above, it’s them. It hasn’t been them in a long time, he hasn’t let himself think of it. He isn’t running from anything, fluttering from city to city, crossing oceans he never touched as a boy. He’s searching, maybe, for a place where the wind can blow it all away. The sun feels warm as he raises his arm, fingers outstretched as he tries to hold that boundless blue in his palm.

nsfw: Everybody Wants to Rule the World by @kaytheologiearchive | Nico/Sebastian | E | 23k

It's 2022, Sebastian is driving for Aston Martin when their new team principal is announced – Nico Rosberg. The author said it best herself – this fic is all about "the absolute fantasy of being the villains favourite girl". And Nico makes a lovely villain, snarky and a bit pretentious but with the ability to back up his words and make his promises reality. I especially love Seb's character arc, starting with 2022!Seb, reluctantly forced to accept that his world champion days are over, to then finding his spark again under Nicos guidance and returning back to his charming, selfish, index-finger-in-the-air ways. Really they are both absolute assholes in this but thats what makes them perfect for each other.

“I’m here for the same reason you are,” he says, megawatt smile back on his face. “To win you a title.”Seb sits back in his seat, grinning bitterly. “Don’t let Stroll hear you say that. The only reason he bought this team is to try to get a title for his son. I’m just here to play mentor until they build us a car one of us can win with, and then he’ll turn me loose.” He doesn’t add, just like Ferrari did. He doesn’t have to.Nico scoffs. Seb’s met so few people who actually scoff in real life. “Lance Stroll,” he says, disdain dripping around every consonant, “is never winning a title. You still could, though, and you know it. You’d have retired if you didn’t think so.” Seb opens his mouth, prepared to contradict him, and Nico silences him with a wave of his hand. “Don’t give me your go-to line about the love of the sport. You’ve only ever been here for one reason. The media might forget, you might even want them to forget, but I know what you’re really like.”“And what’s that?” Seb asks. Against his better instincts, and even though he knows Nico can’t have a single good motive for being here, he’s intrigued by whatever Nico’s about to say. Nico’s always been an enigma to him, Nico’s opinion of him doubly so.“You’re ruthless,” Nico says, almost in a whisper. “You’re brutal, and ambitious, and you’ll do whatever you have to to take everything you want.”

Rabbit, Rabbit (it takes a village) by @481boxboxbaby | Lando/Oscar | M | 25k

Oscar wakes up to find four baby bunnies in his shower. In the world of this story, that's as good as peeing on a stick. This boy is knocked up, and there are six possible baby daddies. This is a sweet, funny and heartfelt fic that takes a cracky idea (magic bunnies means you're pregnant) and treats it seriously. Oscar is definitely a bit of a pillow princess and good time guy - that's why he has bunnies - and the fic follows his journey of self discovery, growing as a person along the way and learning that knowing himself is far more important than knowing who the daddy is. The guy who steps up, and who Oscar chooses in the end, is maybe a little unexpected but it absolutely worked for me.

“Oh,” Oscar blushes a fierce shade of red. “We’re not a throuple. They’re just friends. I mean, maybe one of them is the other father but - um - that’s sort of the thing.” The midwife raises an eyebrow and cocks her head to the side, waiting for him to go on. Oscar instead looks at Liam and Logan, desperate for one of them to bail him out. “You see, there’s a roster,” Logan says, his expression awfully serious like he’s trying to be as tactful as possible, even if he did just start off by outing Oscar as a hoe.

THREE SCENES IN A CITY by @loveisworry | Alex/Charles | T | 6.8k

Charles and Alex and a party. This is the kind of fic that you read, and then you remember for the rest of your life. This is a truly stunning urban fantasy, very immersive and atmospheric.

'Charles, the city’s chosen son, knows these streets better than the backs of his hands, which are often smeared with ink. There’s a scar where his left thumb joins the meat of his hand that he always forgets about. He’s had it since he was a child, and doesn’t remember it’s there because he doesn’t remember how he got it. Without a story to hang onto it disappears'

sorry for not replying to this for ages!!!!!! I decided that I'd give you all access to my bookmarks, but that meant I had to through 100 individual fics to do that lol.

but - my book marks are now available. there's a great mix of stuff in there (if I do say so myself). lots of lestappen, some maxiel, and then some random pairings too. smut, profound shit, AUs, whatever you want, you shall find!!

some specifics I'm going to highlight because they probably won't be read otherwise, as they're a little niche:

even a Mouse by @ficster28 if anybody reads then can you please tell me. because I need to know if I'm insane for thinking about this every single day since I read it.

somebody else by piastrism. insane Oscar, insane lestappen. perfect.

everything to prove, nothing to lose by awaywego. the plot twist for this was STUNNING.

strange new worlds by racing line. this was on anon for ages so imagine my delight to discover this morning that the author has revealed themselves! anyway this fic changed the way I look at smut. so. if wygig gets crazy, that's because of this fic.

iron out the edges of the darkest sky by anonymous. this one all comes together in the final part. I think about the closing section probably every two days, and that's not a joke. it just ... really sums up how I feel about female drivers and the opportunities they're given. it's maxiel, but its Max focused, Daniel is really just there as a plot device lol.

These are recommendations sent to me by an anon and by @ilottofhope sent in to me (I will update this as I get more. Thank you for sending these in, I really appreciate it!

Fics with an Explicit Rating

'The Things You Do' by loveleclerc: This fic has an archive warning for Graphic Depictions of Violence. It is a completed, 17 chapter, 72k word fic. The author includes this warning:

The fic premise is an AU, the summary telling that Charles is an escort who steals a wallet from Max -- the Penoze leader of Amsterdam and it goes from there.

'Feel The Heat Going Overdrive' by Anonymous: This is a completed fic with 12k words. The premise is described in the summary as, "In which Charles keeps asking questions about the RB18 in the midst of their sexual escapades and Max is literally one DNF away from blowing a fuse." Tags include Enemies to Lovers, , and Max Needs a Hug.

'Unbothered by porpoising' by Tetralea -- this is a short fic with only 564 words but the summary tells us that, "Charles discovers why porpoising never really bothered him." Tags include smut, boys kissing, and honestly Charles what are you thinking?

'uneasy is the head that wears a crown' by Richardmarie75: This fic has archive warnings of graphic depictions of violence and underage. This fic is ongoing with regular updates. 9/25 chapters have been posted and there are 52.3k words. It's a royalty AU and the author summarized the story as "Charles Leclerc ascends the throne consumed by grief. Max Emilian Verstappen pops up into his life unexpectedly, carrying with him words of peace". Tags include enemies to loves, slow burn, heavy angst, blood and injury, angst with a happy ending.

'Sweet Redemption' by just_an_inchident: This is a 7.7k fic that the author summarizes as "this is how Monaco 2022 could have ended." Tags for the fic include pining, drunken confessions, and idiots in love.

'60 seconds' by braakingpoint: This fic is not completed with 5/6 chapters posted, it's currently at 22.5k words and it is an AU. The author summarizes it as, "The grid, along with the whole world experience 60-second visions showing them their future in 200 days. Charles doesn't dare share what he sees." Tags include angst, smut and happy ending.

'Escape as far as possible by Zzz998: This is a completed fic with 14 chapters and 33k words. This is a future fic with the premise being that Daniel Riccardo wants to win the motorsport triple crown and he needs to win the 24 hours of Le Mans so he recruits Charles and Max. Tags include enemies to lovers, retirement, break up, fluff and smut, mutual pining, and hurt/comfort.

'champagne desires' by slutricciardo: this is a 7.4k fic and the author best describes the fic as, "max hates Charles. charles, however, thinks max is just uptight." Tags include, Rivals to lovers, Rivals with Benefits, and Getting Together.

'I do' by LaurawritingF1: This fic is completed with 3 chapters and 3.3k words. It appears to be smut during/after a Lestappen wedding.

'The Prize Dinner' by Tetralea -- this is a 2.2k word fic and the premise is based of this: "Whoever wins the Monaco GP, wins a dinner with members of the royal family. And this year, only Prince Charles can attend."

'it all reminds me of you' by grandprix: This is a completed 3k fic. It's a friends with benefits fic with tags that include secret relationship, caught and non-linear narrative.

'towards oblivion' by playclock: This is a 6.8k fic. It is a sex pollen fic that does have a dubious consent tag for the typical consent issues that come with fics like this.

Fics With a Mature Rating

'I Know Places' by Tazza1993-- This fic is a completed 3 chapter, 58.8k words. It is a Notting Hill AU where Max owns a cat cafe and is content with his quiet life until F1's Charles Leclerc comes across his cafe. The two tags are Romance and Fluff and Angst.

'small pleasures' by altissimozucca -- A 3k fic that is tagged as Netlfix and Chill and but they don't use Netflix and neither Charles nor Max has any Chill.

'Tear In My Heart' by Wellthisdidntgotoplan: This is a series with 3 parts and 6k words. I do want to note that the first two have a T rating while the last one has a M rating so I'm just sticking it in the M category. This series is all future fics where Max and Charles are married but separated and they have two kids and it chronicles that.

'heartstroke' by grandprix: this fic is not completed. Three chapters and 16k words have been posted. The premise appears to be Charles wakes up with amnesia and learns that he is married to Max Verstappen. Tags include amnesia, angst with a happy ending, and secret marriage.

'Kiss with a fist' by mahixa: A fic with 3k words, it seems there is some boxing in it and Charles has a Feelings realization.

'every other sunday' by Anney: this is a completed 9 chapter fic that has about 34.5k words. In this fic, Max is forced out of the closet and Charles is there for him. Additional tags include Emotional hurt/comfort, falling in love and Rivals to Friends to Lovers.

'Just an Incident' by WeaglesAndBrobean: This is completed, 15 chapters with 17.4k words. The tags include slow burn, childhood trauma, enemies to friends to lovers, friends with benefits, and internalized homophobia.

Fics with a T Rating

'It Only Takes A Shunt' by Rearwingblues: This fic has 1700 words and the summary describes it as, "Max ends up in the wall and Charles has a realization." Tags include love confessions, fluff and mild angst in the beginning.

'this is our place, we make the rules' by PrincessElectra: This is actually a series of three stories, completed with 46k total words. It seems to follow Max/Charles relationship. Some of the tags are Enemies to Lovers, Falling in Love and Angst with a Happy Ending.

'so i guess I'll be sticking with you' by artifice: This is a 3k word flower shop AU and the author summarizes it as, "Charles gets Max a plant for Christmas." Tags include fluff and humor, getting together, and implied sexual content.

'take your time, this is not the end' by imnotheretodie: This is a 6.1k fic that is described by the author as, "5 kisses that were strong enough to keep them apart vs the 1 that makes them stay forever." Tags include mutual pining, Charles is a drama queen and idiots in love.

'we're fallin' like the stars, we're fallin' in love' by monzas: this is a 8.7k fic where "Lando sets Max up on disastrous blind dates that end up with Max falling for the bartender who was the real set up all along."

Fics with a G Rating:

'you can take the oxygen straight out of my own chest' by altissimozucca: this is a completed, four chapter fic with 21k words. It's a future fic set after Max and Charles retire and they set off on a road trip together.

'carpe diem' by altissimozucca: this is a 3.1k word fic that is described as a 4 +1 but it's four alternate universes plus 1 real one.

'soulmates (or, max has a love-hate relationship with coldplay)' by altissimozucca: this is a completed 1.3k word fic. It's a soulmate AU where you can hear whatever you soulmate is listening to in your head or can hear the melody of the song they're singing/humming. It's also a 4+1 so it's "four times Max had to listen to music against his will and one time his soulmate had to, too."

'stars' by xiaoluclair: a 2.5k fic that is described as "two conversations, ten years apart".

Not Rated Fics:

'Unlearn' by wantinghopingwriting: A completed fic that has 14 chapters and 46k words. It's described in the summary as a "fake friendship to fake lovers to something else". Tags for the fic include slow burn, fake/pretend relationship, enemies to friends to lovers and angst with a happy ending.

'Little Do You Know by socialite -- this is a 15 chapter, 40k word fic. {listen, I don't try to inject my personal opinion into the lists but this is one of my favorite fics that I've read, ever.} Anyways, Charles finds himself in a situation where he hears his friends' unfiltered opinions about him and honestly all hell breaks loose. Tags include jealousy, communication failure, emotional hurt/comfort, angst, and enemies to lovers.

'just like a folk song, our love will be passed on' by multi21: this is a series with two completed words in it and has 38.7k words. the first fic is charles' pov and the second is max's pov and the author cautions that neither of them are reliable narrators. Tags include Angst with a happy ending, Depression, Mental Health Issues, Unhealthy Coping Mechanisms, Self-Esteem Issues and Homophobic Language.

'home (is wherever I'm with you) by actparci: this fic is not completed. 3/4 of the chapters are posted with 11.9k words so far. The premise is described as "Charles leaves Ferrari, tries to win a championship, and learns some things about belonging. All the while, Max is there." Tags include pining, angsty Charles and slow burn.

'out of my imagination' by plotracer: There is an archive warning for graphic depictions of violence. This is a completed two-part fic with 23.4k words. It is a soulmate AU and the premise is described by the author as, "In a world ruled by the memories of your soulmate, Max tries to find the one who is his source of light." Tags include Jos Verstappen's A+ Parenting, Hurt/Comfort, and slow burn.

i read this poem by ada limon that feels like being hit by a ton of bricks and then this short fic happened. enjoy or im sorry

Daniel is Scotty’s unofficial wedding photographer. Before this, he was Scotty’s groomsman. Some say he could have performed better, assisted better, but Daniel was the best friend before being appointed to the role of groomsman. Best friends pull your hair back while you spill your guts into the toilet basin, all the while laughing at your stupidity for mixing vodka with gin. Daniel laughed when Scotty started to cry all of a sudden, saying, “She’s gonna be Mrs James now. She’s gonna be mine.” Daniel laughed at how ridiculous he was and wiped Scotty’s runny nose and reapplied the concealer and foundation under his eyes because he was the best friend and he didn’t trust anyone else to do it right.

Let’s recap.

Daniel is Scotty’s unofficial wedding photographer. Before this, he was Scotty’s groomsman, and before that, he was Scotty’s best friend. He is Scotty’s best friend. Before that, Daniel was Scotty’s fan, as much as Scotty was Daniel’s fan. Athletes bred and nurtured with the sole purpose of winning. They get fans when they win. They remain with friends when they start losing.

What came first? Being friends or being fans?

One day Daniel was laughing alone, and after he met Scotty, they were laughing together.

What came first? The egg or the chicken?

Daniel can’t wait to play with Chloe and Scotty’s kids, ask them absurd questions, get them to smile at him the way his nephews and nieces smile at him, carbon copies of the people he loves. There is no better feeling in the world than making the people you love smile.

What came first?

Neither.

Let’s start with the beginning.

At first, they were lovers.

They were lovers in the way people are for a night when they meet in a pub, when the sharp neon lights fracture everything in three and you think lust is enough to build an empire. Daniel saw Scotty bathed in fluorescent pink somewhere in Austria, head thrown back, neck taut, skin glistening with sweat. Daniel thought, “I want to press my lips there.” Daniel did. He blamed it on the too many vodkas in his bloodstream, but Daniel never hesitated when he wanted something, sober or not.

Scotty tasted like salt, like the musky aftershave he still wears to this day because Chloe likes it. Barely legal and a head taller, when Scotty kissed Daniel for the first time that night, fingers curled around his jaw, when Scotty fucked Daniel against the filthy bathroom door while Swedish House Mafia blared all around them, Daniel thought, “This feels just as good as winning.”

They were young and they were dumb and the world didn’t care enough about them to notice when they crashed together in the same hotel room.

Years later, when Daniel wins for the first time in Canada, when he lifts the trophy above his head, drenched in champagne and drunk on adrenaline, he thinks, “This feels nothing like fucking Scotty.” Hunger split in two, he knew he would never be satisfied if he didn't have both.

Scotty flies in that night, knocks so loud on Daniel’s door he is about to wake up the entire hotel and fucks him senseless five minutes after Daniel lets him in. For the first time in years, they do it on a bed, Scotty above him, hair soft, cheeks rosy, smile so tender it makes Daniel bite back a sob.

“I won,” Daniel whispers.

“You did,” Scotty says and leans down to kiss him once more.

He won, so maybe he gets to keep Scotty too.

Scotty meets Chloe for the first time in 2019. Daniel takes a step back, and waits for the flames to pass, for the relationship to end the way it did before. But Chloe is not Ivy, and Scotty of 2019 is not Scotty of 2018. For the second time in his life, Daniel is wrong.

With nothing else to do, he throws himself into making the car better. He starts meditating and doing breathwork. Whenever Lance passes him by in the paddock, Daniel looks the other way. It’s not Lance’s fault Scotty has been fucking guys in the backyard while kissing girls on the front porch. It’s not Scotty’s fault Daniel never asked for more. Sometimes you got to love yourself enough to believe you deserve better.

Daniel fell in love with his best friend but he got to keep only one. He redirects his love into his friendship, he comes running whenever Scotty calls, and when he gets asked, “Will you be my groomsman?” Daniel says, “Yes.”

Daniel has many regrets in life. Not staying with Cyril, not telling Heidi he loved her sooner, not eating more veggies, but being Scotty’s friend is not one of them. He helps Scotty dress and ties his bow tie for him, styles his hair and powders his nose after another crying session.

He swallows back tears when Scotty walks down the aisle, when Chloe slides the ring onto Scotty’s finger. Happy tears for happy moments, because Daniel is nothing but a good friend. He trusts that Scotty is too.

Daniel takes back his love, keeps it behind his teeth, and lets it power his smile. They dance and yell and get drunk under the Venetian sky. Chloe kisses Scotty under the fluorescent pink lights, and in turn, Daniel kisses Heidi.

Daniel thinks, “This is good enough.”

With time, he will believe it too.

leave it all to bloom by @hungerpunch | G | 1.4k Alex and Yuki take a break away from the madness of the Japanese Grand Prix. This is such a beautiful story. Their relationship here is blossoming, and so it is very fitting that they visit gardens! There is a kind of tentative excitement that hums between them, and it is so much fun to read. The world the author has built here is beautiful, and I'd love to live inside of it for a while. Just gorgeous.

'Yuki laughs, knocks his shoulder into Alex’s ribs, and then proceeds to name all the autumnal blooms as they go: tall yet dainty kosumosu in white and red and pink, a crimson swath of spindly spider lilies, the quintessential poofy chrysanthemums in every color. Pink peonies and classic suisen, both of which Yuki tells him are blooming early: “They're winter flowers normally.” Alex doesn't stand a chance retaining any of this information but he wishes, suddenly, that he did.'

Carlos/Pierre

nsfw: lost control by venerat | E | 3.1k Carlos and Pierre meet in a club after a fist fight. I'm beginning to think my fic rec lists wouldn't be complete without a venerat recommendation. I love everything this author shares. This fic is hot, the vibes are suitably rancid, and I loved every second of it. This author is fantastic at building tension, and the pay off is always, always, always worth it.

'Pierre hummed. "You know, I dream about your mouth,” he said, and Carlos burned. His fingers trembled'

Daniel/Mick

nsfw: golden boy by @oversteerey | E | 3.5k Mick and Daniel spend time at the ranch. This pairing works so well. The author does a fantastic job at developing their dynamic, and that is thanks in part to the wonderful, natural, easy-flowing dialogue. They are so gone for each other, and it is so hot. Perfect!

'They eat in silence, birdsong and water filling the space. There are two whiteclaws and two beers, for variety, the note attached reads. Cold-cut sandwiches and little treats that they didn't buy. Daniel throws his scraps to the birds.'

Checo/Lance

cielito lindo by @piastriachios | T | 3.6k Lance and Checo are teammates - Lance pines. Everything this author writes is simply stunning, and this is no exception. The way they use colour and emotion and metaphor to set the tone is just stunning, and the worlds they create are always so rich and so fun to read. This fic is a love letter to Mexico and to Checo and to Lance and to teammates and to love, in all its forms. I loved this so much.

'In this light, there are not enough shadows for any secrets to hide behind. Not enough creases for fond looks to slip between. Too bright to see the quiet glow of embers, too loud for his mind to kindle them into anything more.'

George/Yuki

nsfw: whatever people say i am, that’s what i’m not by @clownfairy | E | 6.5k George and Yuki navigate their relationship. This is a fantastic fic - the characterisation and dialogue are on point; natural and funny and so very easy to read. The Yuki characiterisation in particular is superb. This pairing and this story just works. One thing I really, really love about this author's writing is their ability to balance humour with emotion. It hits perfectly every time.

'George drops his façade in favor of eyeing Yuki where he’s leaned over the kitchen counter, weight resting on crossed arms. Yuki’s stomach does its George thing, this flutter of embarrassment combined with something else.'

22 f1 fic rec pt. III

Hey there!

It’s been a while since the last one but finally I’m here for the last fic rec of the year :)

I’m offering you ten of the best f1 fics I’ve read during the second half of the year (which I think you def cannot miss!!! )

so here we go...

- Sebastian and the Angel by Anonymous (Explicit)

This is a fic with an outstanding plot, an explicit and very detailed narrative that makes you feel like you’re whitnessing the story and all very ingenious characters. The emotional inteligence of the author is definitely something else.

- Every time I think the feelings fading I miss you (I miss you) by TheWiseOne12 (PG)

or a very sweet story about love, heartbreaking and refinding love even when everything is against you. It had me intrigued during all nineteen chapters and the strong point is definitely the hurt/comfort it offers, with a lot of angst but fluff on the same mesure.

I have a soft spot on Carlos/Lando/Charles fic but this one is unexpectedly Carlos centered! I’ve never read one like this and the author definitely nailed it, the building is great (better than my own ficI’ll admit) and the ending is as sweet and you can expect it to be.

I’m obssessed with this fic!!! It’s basically Sebchal falling in love in the 20th century and again, the building and the sexual tension is otherworldly. One of my favorites of the 2022.

Or piarles confessing each other and it’s so godamn goals! they talk their past, their present and their future and the fic has an even bigger meaning if you read the fic before in the saga (a saga I highly recomend as well, but this work is my favorite of them) so go check it out.

Or one of the hottest fics I got to read this year, and a very captivating sexting moment I have in my mind even after days of having read it. Definitely a sebchal ft Lewis jewel.

One of the most well thought plots I got to read, where Pierre is a scientist and Charles is a lifeguard and the sea is.... well, the sea conects them and It’s all I can say without spoiling because I really want people to read this. It’s wonderful.

- First Love/Late Spring by blackest_eyes (Explicit)

Or my favorite Piarles fic of the 2022. It’s sweet, sexy, sad, and all the good S in there ;) (sorry for the bad pun). I love the nostalgia and how you can reflect on the characters’ feelings, fears and decisions. An emotional story with a hopeful ending that will leave you smiling for days.

- we do not perish. by Laeana (T)

Or the fic where Pierre and Charles live and die again and again untill they get their happy ending. There’s a lot to outstand in this fic; the originality of the idea, the narration, how it comes and goes in time, how sentimental it gets... It’s beautiful not just the plot but the whole aesthetic you get from it.

Or Lando and Charles get drunk and married in Vegas. Charles panics about it but everyone reassures him so he doesn’t fuck it up. Everyone in this fic has a role, and no detail is left hanging. I love that it shows the path of someone realizing that even when things look bad, there’s always something good in it and you have to make the most of it. My favorite Charlando fic so far.
