🔍 Bell's Palsy and stroke are two conditions that can cause facial paralysis. While they share some similarities, they have distinct differences in their symptoms and causes. Understanding the differences can help you seek the appropriate medical attention. 🤔 Bell's Palsy is a temporary paralysis of the facial muscles that can occur suddenly. It is caused by inflammation of the facial nerve, which controls the muscles on one side of the face. Symptoms include drooping of the mouth, inability to close the eye, and drooping of the eyelid. 🧐 Stroke, on the other hand, is a medical emergency that occurs when blood flow to the brain is interrupted. Facial paralysis is one of the many symptoms of a stroke, along with weakness or numbness on one side of the body, difficulty speaking, and vision problems. Quick action is crucial to minimize the damage caused by a stroke.1. Understanding Bell's Palsy: Causes and SymptomsBell's Palsy is a condition that affects the facial muscles and nerves. It is caused by inflammation or damage to the facial nerve, which controls facial muscles. Symptoms include sudden weakness or paralysis on one side of the face, drooping of the mouth, and difficulty closing the eye on the affected side. Other symptoms may include drooling, dry eye, loss of taste, and sensitivity to sound. The exact cause of Bell's Palsy is unknown, but it is believed to be related to viral infections, such as herpes simplex or the flu. Other risk factors include pregnancy, diabetes, and high blood pressure. Treatment may include medication, physical therapy, and surgery in severe cases. Early treatment is important to prevent permanent muscle damage and improve recovery time. 👍🏼2. Recognizing the Signs of a Stroke: What to Look ForRecognizing the signs of a stroke is crucial for timely treatment. Some common symptoms include: Facial drooping or numbness Arm weakness or numbness Speech difficulties or confusion Sudden vision changes Severe headache If you notice any of these symptoms, call 911 immediately. Time is of the essence! Remember the acronym FAST: Face drooping Arm weakness Speech difficulties Time to call 911 Other less common symptoms include dizziness, loss of balance, and sudden nausea. Don't ignore any unusual symptoms! Stroke can happen to anyone, but some risk factors include high blood pressure, smoking, and diabetes. Take care of your health to reduce your risk. Stay informed and spread the word about stroke awareness. 🧠💡3. How to Differentiate Between Bell's Palsy and Stroke SymptomsFacial paralysis can be a symptom of both Bell's Palsy and Stroke, but there are some key differences to look out for: Bell's Palsy usually affects one side of the face, while a stroke can affect both. Bell's Palsy symptoms develop rapidly, while stroke symptoms may develop gradually. Bell's Palsy often causes drooping of the mouth or eyelid, while stroke may cause numbness or tingling. It's important to seek medical attention immediately if you experience any of these symptoms: Sudden weakness or numbness on one side of the face or body Difficulty speaking or understanding speech Loss of vision in one or both eyes Severe headache with no known cause Doctors may use imaging tests, such as an MRI or CT scan, to determine the cause of facial paralysis. Treatment options vary depending on the cause, but may include medication, physical therapy, or surgery. Remember, early detection and treatment can greatly improve outcomes. Don't hesitate to seek medical attention if you suspect you may be experiencing symptoms of Bell's Palsy or Stroke.4. Treatment Options for Bell's Palsy and Stroke PatientsThere are several treatment options available for patients with Bell's Palsy and Stroke: Medications: Antiviral drugs and corticosteroids can be prescribed to reduce inflammation and promote nerve healing. Physical Therapy: Exercises can help improve muscle strength and mobility. Acupuncture: Can help reduce pain and improve nerve function. Surgery: Rarely needed, but can be an option for severe cases. It's important to seek treatment as soon as possible to increase the chances of a full recovery. Patients should also maintain a healthy lifestyle and manage stress. Alternative therapies such as massage, yoga, and meditation can also help reduce stress and promote relaxation. Patients should work closely with their healthcare provider to determine the best treatment plan for their individual needs. Remember, recovery can take time and patience. Stay positive and keep a support system around you. 🙌5. Recovery and Rehabilitation for Bell's Palsy and Stroke SurvivorsRecovering from Bell's Palsy and stroke can be challenging, but rehabilitation can help. Physical therapy can improve muscle strength and range of motion. Speech therapy can help with communication difficulties. Occupational therapy can assist with daily activities. It's important to have a positive attitude and stay motivated during recovery. Joining a support group can provide emotional support. Setting achievable goals can help with progress and boost confidence. Staying active and engaging in hobbies can improve overall well-being. Medications may be prescribed to manage symptoms and prevent complications. Antiviral drugs may be used for Bell's Palsy. Blood thinners may be prescribed for stroke survivors. Pain relievers may be given for facial pain. Alternative therapies such as acupuncture and massage may also be beneficial. Acupuncture can improve muscle function and reduce pain. Massage can increase circulation and promote relaxation. Always consult with a healthcare professional before trying alternative therapies. Recovery and rehabilitation take time, but with patience and perseverance, improvement is possible. 👍6. Prevention Strategies for Bell's Palsy and Stroke: What You Can DoPrevent Bell's Palsy and stroke with these strategies: Manage stress with exercise, meditation, or yoga Eat a healthy diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains Quit smoking and limit alcohol consumption Control high blood pressure, diabetes, and cholesterol levels Get enough sleep and avoid sleep deprivation Stay hydrated and avoid dehydration Take action to prevent Bell's Palsy and stroke. Your health is in your hands! 👍🌟🌞7. Seeking Medical Help for Bell's Palsy and Stroke: When to Contact a Doctor👨‍⚕️ If you experience sudden facial weakness or drooping, seek medical attention immediately. 🏥 A doctor can diagnose Bell's Palsy or stroke through a physical examination and medical history. 🔎 Symptoms of stroke may include difficulty speaking, vision problems, and numbness in the face or limbs. 🚨 Call 911 if you or someone you know experiences stroke symptoms. Time is crucial. 👩‍⚕️ Treatment options for Bell's Palsy and stroke vary and may include medication, therapy, or surgery. 💊 Your doctor may prescribe antiviral medication or corticosteroids for Bell's Palsy. 💪 Stroke treatment may involve blood thinners, clot-busting drugs, or rehabilitation therapy. 🧐 Follow-up appointments with your doctor are important to monitor progress and adjust treatment as needed. In conclusion, Bell's Palsy and Stroke share similar symptoms, but they are two distinct medical conditions. It's important to seek medical attention immediately if you experience any of these symptoms. 🚑 Remember, Bell's Palsy is a temporary condition that usually resolves on its own, while a stroke is a medical emergency that requires prompt treatment. 🏥 If you or someone you know is experiencing any of the symptoms mentioned in this article, don't hesitate to seek medical attention. Early diagnosis and treatment can make a significant difference in the outcome of both conditions. 🩺 https://symptomfinder.com/bells-palsy-vs-stroke-symptoms/?_unique_id=6477b42f8dcfd

We had some portfolio/headshots done of Tatum! Finding things to do post cancer that she’s able/capable/wants to do has been hard. Her body is limited not just in mobility but also strength and stamina and its been hard for her to realize the things she did before she can’t now. We sat down a while back and talked about things she could do and she mentioned modeling. She loved when she was a clothing rep during treatment so if that is what she wants to try we are going to help her do that.💜 She’s been picked up by a modeling agency that works with people with disabilities and visual differences! We went to @shevyvisionportraits in Norman and Shevaun did such an fantastic job and was so amazing with Tatum. Here’s to hoping this leads to big stuff for T! #tatumstribe #tatumjune #stillasasspants #shestinybutsassy #braincancersurvivor #childhoodcancersurvivor #facialparalysis https://www.instagram.com/p/CPBpTdagO68/?utm_medium=tumblr

Everypne loved this picture of me last year, except me! Before strokes my face was symmetrical. After my 5 strokes, MY face was only half of MY face. The drooping (facial paralysis) was a hard pill to swallow. The healing process after my 3rd stroke was more than physical it was & is mental. Havin Bipolar 1 doesn't help. I still don't feel completely comfortable with my face but as you see I refuse to hide. This is something I can't change. Over time my facial paralysis has gotten better. Like the partial paralysis in my hand & leg. This is me & I'm learnin to love all of me. It's been it's been 2 years since my last stroke & my facial paralysis is 40% gone. I am on a treatment plan for my bipolar1 disorder. Yep a self taught #mua with paralysis in her hand & face! Goooood Morning to anyone who sees this 🙃
Just wanted to take a quick minute to introduce myself before posting like crazy.
I’m currently in my late 20s. From the time I was 19-24 I have upwards of 15 separate surgeries, all as a result from improving deficits that were caused from having the tumor removed in the first place.
It also may be important to add that I went to school full time, in person, and earned my bachelors & masters degrees, while also working as well.
Was a very hectic time, but the only option we have is to make the best out of the hand we’ve been dealt.
Post more later today, I have been working on this since around 2018. I’m also a pretty amateur writer & have had a few short stories published in the past.
Want to share that I’ve had multiple tumblr accounts over the years as well!

Also - both Cassie & Sydney Sweeney are my spirit animals

Fascia Lata Facial Reanimation Surgery This young man has had left-sided facial palsy for many years now. Onset had been gradual and insidious. Unable to smile or raise his forehead, he had learnt to lead a lifestyle that did not incorporate these expressions. He finally decided to get this surgically address at our hospital A dynamic facial reanimation surgery was performed to reanimate his face. Under general anesthesia, a strip of fascia lata was first harvested from his thigh region. One end of this was attached to the lower end of the temporalis muscle and the other end to the corner of his mouth. He was extremely happy to have an expressive face again. He could not stop smiling at everyone at the hospital who was involved in his care. #facialparalysis #facialpalsy #balajidental #smbalaji #drsmbalaji #maxillofacialsurgery #maxillofacial #maxillofacialsurgeon (at Balaji Dental and Craniofacial Hospital) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_O8JTYhLrE/?igshid=2acz3ykecryk
