Cora Novoa ft Bryte - Gogo Gaga Premiered on FACT Magazine
“Spanish producer and DJ Cora Novoa joins forces with Ghanaian MC Bryte, a propulsive fusion of their energetic styles. Layering restless kicks and blizzards of noise against Bryte’s nimble delivery and irrepressible vibe, Cora Novoa matches the rapper’s vocal levity with bludgeoning weight and atmospheric dept, revealing yet another side to the multi-faceted MC.
The video, directed by Benova Studio, sees the duo bopping around some of Barcelona’s rave institutions, including Razzmatazz, the club wear brand SSSTUFFF headquarters and THEROOM concept store. Capturing a snapshot of Barcelona’s nightlife scene, ‘Gogo Gaga’ is a homage to these shared spaces.
As part of the track’s release, Cora Novoa is launching a competition calling on producers to remix ‘Gogo Gaga’. Those interested in taking part mint a free NFT from Web3 community GUZZU, which will serve as the platform for release of the winning entry, selected by Cora Novoa herself.

Segundo as palavras da artista: "Tenho criado trabalhos através das lentes do bioespiritualismo. Pensando em maneiras de olhar para a natureza para me entender melhor. Parte disso foi imaginar realidades alternativas onde eu incorporo uma forma diferente: outra criatura ou algo totalmente incorpóreo (como um portal de luz)."

Es como presenta su nuevo sencillo Matt Cutler, el renombrado músico, DJ y productor de Nottingham, que todos conocemos como Lone.
Su trayectoria ha sido bastante sorprendente; después de hacer su primera aparición en R&S en 2011, se ha convertido en un habitual del sello belga de renombre mundial. Aunque, en esta ocasión regresa después de dos años -desde 'Natural Aerials EP' de 2022-. con un nuevo material firmado junto al sello Greco-Roman.
Lo hace navegando en forma inversa a través de las conocidas aguas del breakbeat y el jungle.
En sus propias palabras define algunos de sus objetivos con este nuevo track:
« Quería incorporar tantas ideas como pudiera en una sola pieza musical. Tocar con todos mis tropos de música de baile favoritos, divertirme pero tomarlo totalmente en serio. Quería llevar todo eso a un lugar exuberante, alucinante e inesperado. La sección final de la pista presenta mi voz. Cascada de fuego multidimensional inverso »

Combinando a la perfección ritmos rápidos, líneas del 303 en forma, voces entrecortadas y todas esas perlas que amamos de su música! Como resultado, nos da una aproximación de alta definición de su visión artística, comprimida en 7 minutos y 12 segundos que dura el track. Así es como la sección final toma un giro mucho más ambiental. Cambiando el sentido de una cascada, desafiando la lógica. Yendo de lo más agitado a las orillas más tranquilas.
El visionario productor logra pintar con texturas sonoras imágenes bien claras de su música y de lo que tiene en mente, algo en lo que viene trabajando desde sus inicios. Si miramos por ejemplo una entrevista de FactMag – por la salida de su LP ‘Galaxy Garden' de 2012’- oportunidad en la cual, lo consultaban por el hilo conductor entre los tracks, Matt comentaba lo siguiente:
« Con todos mis álbumes, creo que mi plan es tratar de comunicar al oyente la mayor cantidad posible de mi imaginación. Eso es lo principal para mí: imagino ciertas escenas o atmósferas, sentimientos que no necesariamente puedo expresar con palabras y, con suerte, eso se refleja en las melodías, los ritmos e incluso el ruido de fondo... Siempre quiero que sea lo más visual posible. para quien lo esté escuchando como lo es para mí [...] Encuentro que cuanto mayor me hago, más consciente soy de la belleza de la naturaleza, la ciencia, la gente y todo lo que me rodea. No quiero sonar pretencioso en absoluto, es sólo que realmente creo que mi música es una representación honesta de todo lo que me rodea. Espero poder canalizar tanta belleza como sea humanamente posible a través de las melodías... »
Cuando le preguntaban sobre su propia evolución como productor, aclaraba algunos detalles sobre su proceso creativo:
« Sí, creo que estoy en constante evolución. La forma en que trabajo en general es que tengo una idea muy sólida que ejecuto siempre que me resulte emocionante. Normalmente escribo la mayor parte de cien temas en ese estilo determinado hasta que lo agoto. Luego es cuestión de tomar un descanso y esperar a que la siguiente idea me guíe hasta que me aburro nuevamente y con cada nueva gran idea creo que me estoy acercando a lo que estoy tratando de lograr. Ya sea haciendo referencia a la música que amaba cuando era niño, como con las últimas cosas que publiqué, o comenzando de nuevo, siendo lo más creativo posible y comunicando la mierda que me resulta imposible decir. Yo diría que así es como evoluciona realmente: estoy desmenuzando una gran idea y definiéndola cada vez más. Con el tiempo [con suerte] será como mirar literalmente dentro de mi cabeza. O escuchar lo que escucho o lo que sea…»
Ya con todas estas ideas en la mente... podríamos decir, que estamos listos para mojarnos un poco los pies; revisitar algo de su exquisita discografía. Mientras seguimos navegando sobre el apaciblemente el oleaje emocional de alguna tarde soleada.

A-T-3 079 Dayton - The Sound Of Music
This began as being a post for a track by Lives Of Angels which is a synth prog track but as I‘m writing I go off track. So although I start out referring to Lives Of Angels the Dayton track becomes more suitable
A search for info on Lives Of Angels brought up a link to the reissue by Dark Entries and a weekly feature in Fact Magazine called ‘Forgotten Classics.’ The title of the FactMag feature had me thinking forgotten implies these records were once widely known which generally isn’t the case. Relatively recent reissues like Lives of Angels’ album Elevator To Eden isn’t remembered by enough people to be forgotten and unknown records don’t instantly fit with the label classics, although a minority may become that I’m not sure you can say Elevator To Eden is a classic
It doesn’t look like many ‘Forgotten Classics’ articles were written and the weekly feature fizzled out which is strange because the 2012 the year of the articles corresponds with an explosion of reissue labels and a jump in sales for legacy records, they now account for the majority of all record sales (73% of US album sales)
Labels like Dark Entries, Numero, Light In The Attic, Minimal Wave, Music From Memory, Awesome Tapes From Africa, Emotional Rescue (I could go on and on) often get cult status in their own right for reissuing rare albums that have become highly sought over time, unearthing unreleased material and gems from the darker recesses of back catalogues
Reissues began as a budget option, EMI and Hamlyn began Music For Pleasure in the mid-1960s, as MFP began to look outdated the Fame budget label was launched, most major labels did this, CBS had it’s ‘Nice Price’ series, Virgin ‘Virgin Value’ and ‘Compact Price.’ Alongside the majors reissuing their own back catalogues See For Miles and the Charly label began licensing and reissuing records, Allied Records Ltd purchased the rights to the Trojan label and its back catalogue as it had done Saga. Before the 1970s was over Rhino(USA) and Ace were founded, and by the mid-1980s Castle Communications had joined the fray. I’ve mentioned these were budget labels and some of them got a reputation for cheap product
Compilation albums of older music and reissues are closely related, many reissue labels also released compilations. In the 1980s Morgan Khan’s put out budget compilations on his Street Sounds label, including soul/disco label boxsets. BGP founded by Djs Baz Fe Jazz and Giles Peterson comes out of the popularity of Rare Groove in the capitol. Major labels delve into their back catalogues once again and compilations like Arista’s Rare or Capitol’s Capitol Classics, and Polydor’s Urban sub label is founded by Steve Proctor. Urban is important as began reissuing Roy Ayers albums (amongst others) in the late 1980s
I discovered The Sound Of Music by Dayton on 1988’s Capitol Classics, it had also been on Street Sounds 7 in 1983. Here’s a live performance I hadn’t seen before
