If we're talking MC Fiona then mermaid, cause she can have the whole backstory of being a rebel-pirate woman who was apprehanded and drowned? Gta Fiona gives mage vibes though, i don't know why excactly

It’s kind of a mix between the two. Part of my immortal FAHC world, where various AUs are various points in their history, from medieval-ish kings and queens (Minecraft), to pirates, old west outlaws, old gangsters and finally the modern day.

So!

That supernatural FAHC AU wherein “creatures” likemermaids/men/??? are known but extremely rare in comparison towerewolves/were”_______”, vampires. fae, etc.?

So much so there’s a whole Things about their rights, and sincethis is Los Santos all kinds of shady shit goes down.

Alfredo gets caught by this shady agency meant to protect humansand the like from the “bad eggs” in the bunch and whatnot.(Everyone knows they’re mostly funded by research labs and thelike, so make of that what you will.)

Gets thrown in this tiny little tank while the agency’s“lawyers” deal with proceedings and whatnot and arrange to havehim transported to a lab upstate or wherever. (It’s all takinglonger than usual because news about Alfredo’s case was leaked tothe press and advocacy groups and the whatnot are slowing things downconsiderably.)

In the middle of this Trevor shows up, impeccably dressed andpaperwork all in order. Claims to be part of the agency, high up andanswers only to a few – and it’s clear from the start he hateseverything Alfredo is.

Never uses his name, talks about him when he’s in front of histank like he’s just another specimen - “A pity really, the lastone we received died after the initial tests. So fragile. Thankgoodness your people here are willing to part with this one.:DDDDDDDD”

And so on.

Keeps bringing up previous merfolk he’s been given charge of andtheir unfortunate demises. (The things they could have learned from alive specimen, you know? You only get so much from the autopsy and soforth.)

Even the worst scumbag at the holding facility is creeped out byTrevor, this bastard with cold eyes and such disdain for anythinginhuman. (Goes into detail about his first assignments with vampiresand a werewolf or two before laws were passed to grant them the samerights as natural born humans and whatnot.)

Gets to the point no one wants to be around him, make any excuseno matter how flimsy to avoid it and push through the legal quagmiresurrounding Alfredo’s transfer, which is perfect really.

Because look.

Everyone’s focused on how vile Trevor’s being that they failto notice he’s never far from some form of water. (From Alfredo’stank (Christ, it’s more akin to the little ups you fine Bettas inat some stores) to the indoor fountain near reception (gotta makethose phone calls you know, talk to his superiors) or even thewatercooler in the offices.

(Little paper cup and this strained lookaround his eyes, tight smile and short words because the stress ofdealing with those small-minded activists who can’t grasp theimportance of what they could learn from the testing to be done onthe specimen!)

Point is, everyone’s falling over themselves to get rid ofTrevor that they miss all the little things like that.

Mistake his interest in the facility’s security measures assomeone making sure the specimen remains safely in their hands. Don’tpay lose enough attention to the phone calls he makes in public areasto notice how suspect some of them are???

And on and on and on, because he’s made himself into this trulyvile, horrific human being the worst of the worst at the facilitycannot bear to be around. (Wouldn’t lift a finger to help ifsomething went wrong.)

(And, also! Alfredo seems to despise Trevor just as much, kickingup the gravel – gravel! Like he’s a goddamned goldfish! - fromthe bottom of his tank when Trevor looks like he’s about to nodoff. Pulling fae and flashing the laws on his webbed hands, doingthese mocking little “dances” when Trevor comes in to make surehe’s still there at the end of the day. That no one’s managed tospirit him away to safety and patience all but gone. Little thingslike that which seem like aggression towards Trevor to an outsider,or mockery.)

So of course, of course, when the paperwork and everything goesthrough. When they load Alfredo into a mobile tank to be shippedupstate, Trevor’s there to oversee it all.

Cold-eyed stare for the press clamoring for a quote, a soundbite,anything. Activists with their signs and a few chained to thefacility gates - “Bolt cutters,” Trevor says, and Merryweatherthugs scurry to obey.

He’s there to swing into the back of the truck to watch overAlfredo himself – along with a few rookies Merryweather picked upin the last few weeks when some of their own met with unfortunateaccidents. (Anything from mild inconveniences to broken bones, a fewthat just up and disappeared completely.)

They set off, and the press and various activists follow them,kept away from police escorts because this is all Very Legal andthey’ve a duty to uphold the law, you know?

Once the convoy leaves the city proper they lose their tails, andthat should be it, right?

But no.

No.

A few miles out they get hit by mysterious peoples in a stolenCargobob.

Lead both the agency’s own security and Merryweatherreinforcements on a merry chase for a bit, truck with Alfredo andTrevor and rookies swinging precariously -

No wonder then, that the cables snap when the Cargobob veers awayfrom a Merryweather chopper pursuing it, the truck going flying overthe water.

Sinks fast, panic and chaos and the rookies barely managing toescape. Alfredo locked in his tank in the back and Trevor with himonce it sinks too deep to reach from the surface in time. (For Trevorsurely, but Alfredo’s sure to be fine since he’s merfolk.

The agency reports Trevor was killed in the accident, some rogueactivist group (that no one’s heard of until this incident) claimsresponsibility and so on d so on.

It’s News around the city for a few weeks afterward, but somenew Shiny Thing draws attention away.

Just in time, too, because no bodies were recovered from the site.

Neither Alfredo or Trevor, the only potential casualties given howterrible the whole thing was???

And then!

A few weeks later the Fakes, this crew of misfits and worse, okay.Supernatural beings and humans who aren’t complete assholes, theystart making the news after being quiet for a while before then.

Some new heist that targets the agency that grabbed Alfredo andothers like them.

All these shaky/grainy photos of these two characters inparticular who bear an uncanny resemblance to one another andspecialize in water-based maneuvers/tactics/whatever.

The head of the facility that had Alfredo meeting with agencyheads and is shown better quality photos of these two Fakes.

“Do you recognize either of them?”

And of course, of course they do, because it’s goddamned Trevorand Alfredo.

Shit-eating grins as they flip off the camera – clearly takefrom a hopper or something similar hovering above the water.

Trevor and Alfredo and the vary obvious fact they’re bothmerfolk, have a boat bristling with guns just behind them and crewedby Fakes and oh goddammit, the whole thing was a heist from thebeginning.

But!

Not much the agency can do with new laws being passed after theAlfredo incident – they did cause quite the ruckus – and nowmerfolk rights are a Thing.

(Won’t stop the agency from trying to get their hands onmerfolk, but the backlash if they’re caught stands to be far moredevastating.)

And just.

The Fakes coming up with a heist to get Alfredo back that involvesTrevor going undercover as an utter piece of shit, and the agencybeing like !!! when they realize they’ve been duped. (That theMerryweather rookies involved with the Incident were Fakesthemselves, and careful planning to get everyone in place wherethey’re needed at the right time and so forth. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
