the thing with Sam being religious though is that it kind of isn't that far off seeing something with your own eyes and believing in it and then just hoping for dimension to it. Like he literally has been surrounded by literal demons his whole life! He uses exorcisms! He uses God's name as a power to make a demon flinch! He invokes angels to commune with the dead! The world he's in means he's just adding a logical leap dimension than just a blind faith idea. Where his real faith comes in is more just there's hope to it.

She needs intentional devotion/attention. So like, a mortal reading her name in passing wouldnt do it, but someone deliberately seeking out info on her, interacting with her, would.

Lilé knowing her makes it even more potent, because she sees ishtar the only way shes ever known her, as a real being, and her affection is for the sake of loving ishtar alone.
