I'm being so real with you all, stop trying to appeal to fakeclaimers.
I am diagnosed with DID, in treatment, have an extremely covert presentation, and pretty much ONLY talk about having DID online. I got the trauma to show for it, which I've been open about before, and I'm heading for final fusion. I don't get mad when people fakeclaim me and just shrug it off bc I know I'm not.
I still get fakeclaimed.
You're never gonna win. You're always gonna be faking in their eyes, whether you are or aren't. No matter how many qualifications you have, they will never believe you.
So just stop trying. Be yourself, be weird about it.

"I know someone else with this disorder and they're nothing like you!!!"
Maybe that's because we're entirely separate fucking people who have lead different lives, are at different points in our life, and literally have different brains, not because I don't actually have the disorder.

as a person with OCD, when people are like “intrusive thoughts aren’t ‘i should cut my hair’ they’re violent and horrific” i roll my eyes cause yeah, you still don’t understand intrusive thoughts.
an intrusive thought could ABSOLUTELY be “i should cut my hair” IF cutting your hair is something that is contrary to who you are for whatever reason. it could absolutely be something that people view as “minor” or “trivial” because they don’t understand how that effects you. i’m begging other people with OCD to stop universalizing their experiences. i’m also asking you to not fakeclaim. like, ever. no, seriously, never.

Plain text: go outside and you wont think youre multiple people lol
Anon, I hate to break it to you, but we quite literally are multiple people. There are multiple people running this blog. As in, multiple separate people with different birth certificates living in different places and everything. I’m so sorry you had to find out like this . . . 😢

“Calling out fakers helps people with actual disorders!” I literally cannot tell people when my OCD or paranoia is getting to me in real life without someone scoffing at me because of how common fakeclaiming culture is now.

Fakeclaiming is easy because it feels like activism. It feels like protection.
Spotting a "faker" feels like you're doing something. It feels like you're protecting yourself, your community, by pointing at someone and saying "look, I have identified the enemy". You get to feel good that you have done something to help, and you get to feel good to see one of your enemies torn apart by your allies. It's based on a simple reward system for community.
The thing is, though, is that this community isn't solid, and this reward system is flawed.
If a primary way of protecting oneself is spotting fakers, then you're always on-guard, always looking for the enemy in your allies. You'll look for patterns where there may not be any, because you want a leg up on spotting the next of them; you want formulas to rely on – one to decide if someone is faking, and one to decide if someone is not. You want to make the process of protection as simple and easy as possible. And in turn, the easier it gets to "identity a faker", the more often you get that rush of spotting one, that camaraderie of tearing them apart with the "real ones". You have made it easier to justify hurting others, because you have made it easier to win that reward system. And yet, at the same time, because you must remain on-guard, you stress yourself over whether someone fits the formula(s) you have crafted. If all your enemies are fakers pretending to be allies, then you must be ready to turn on any of your allies and tear them apart, too. You must rely on this second formula; these rules you have enforced to decide who is real and who is not. You must not ever think about the process beyond how you can better improve your formulas.
There is no repeal, once a claim has been filed. There is only dogpiling and tearing them apart, demanding they apologize, delete their blog, kill themselves for "faking". They are the enemy, this is what has been declared, and you can tell because they plug into the formula. You can tell because they did something we don't approve of. You can tell because we have declared it true, and you must always believe us and never listen to the person we have been tearing apart, because you wouldn't want to risk defending the enemy, would you? Because...
Conveniently, people who speak out about this reward system are often automatically considered fakers, too. Because their voices are seen as defense of the enemy you have already branded, so they must be enemies too, right? I must now be your enemy for telling you the flaws in this system; in this community. Because only enemies to a community say there's something wrong with that community, don't they? They can't possibly be members of the community who want it to be (even) better. They can't possibly be real members of your community who you have plugged into an arbitrary formula that doesn't even make sense most of the time. They can't be people who have thought about this for two seconds and decided, "Actually, tearing people apart doesn't sound like a very moral action."
Fakeclaiming is a flawed reward system that depends on the idea that the main enemies of any community will always be trying to pretend to be them. Will always be wolves in sheep's clothing. And that the way to help your community – the way to get that rush of justice against your enemy – is to never truly trust your allies; to be prepared to hurt them at a moment's notice; to create formulas based on confirmation bias and plug people into them if they do something against the rules you have decided upon.
I'm aware this is scathing. That's the point. Fakeclaiming doesn't serve any productive purpose; all it does is give the same rush that hitting a child gives a parent.
I am also aware this will likely be used to make me out to be a "faker". An enemy. Very well, go right ahead. Anyone who would decide criticism about the way they go about harassing and tearing apart their own supposed "allies" is an act of "the enemy" is not someone I wish to associate with, so please do reveal yourselves, so that I may block you and move on with my life that does not involve hurting people for the rush it would give me but does involve thinking critically about accusations.
Fakeclaiming doesn't even help the community the way it's supposed to. Drop your formulas. There are better ways to help your community, like accepting our variance and differences, offering advice born from personal experience, and advocating for more awareness and acceptance in your everyday life. Go leave a positive comment on someone's post. Go make a positivity post. Be there for people. I believe you can do better, and make this community better, in turn.

friendly reminder: the idea that tons of allistic people are faking autism to be quirky and different (in a positive light) can only exist ONLINE in real life allistic people DONT think its cool to be autistic in real life if you one day starting acting autistic on tiktok and people saw the traits you were displaying would be mocked ruthlessly by your allistic peers
so no nobody is faking autism to be seen as quirky if they did it would last a day at most before they realised that allistic people dont like autistic people
thank you for your time

[image ID: an Instagram post by wellmeaningneurotypicals with the text,
person: “But you don’t look autistic!”
me: I learned against my own will how to hide my entire being at a young age as a result of chronic, repetitive child abuse, emotional neglect, bullying, ostracism, and social isolation simply because I’m autistic that lasted for over a decade, causing me to involuntarily mask on a daily basis and become a bitter, confused dissociating mess of a human shell who for a long time believed that there was something horribly wrong with me as an existing human being and couldn’t comprehend that I was just different and that there was actually nothing wrong with me and I never came to terms with it until early adulthood and that is why, my friend, I don’t “look” autistic to you
A sarcastically smiling girl gestures at the block of text said by “me.”

By the way, I no longer support endos or identify as neurogenic. You can still do the ask if you want. I don’t hate endos or anything, I just have them in my dni for comfort (you can still interact) I hope it doesn’t offend you, I just think most endos are confused and actually have trauma, like I was. I’m also semi-ok with spiritual systems, as long as they don’t claim to be disordered.
We don’t appreciate this sort of ask. It actually does offend us! For a few reasons:
1) We are not endogenic. We are a trauma-formed DID system.
2) It’s unkind and offensive to deny someone the right to define their own experience. Just because you were confused about your origins doesn’t mean that is a universal experience among endogenic systems.
On this blog, we have never been silent about our DID diagnosis nor our vehement support for systems of ALL sorts. Including and especially endogenic systems, spiritual systems, mixed origins systems, confused systems, questioning systems, etc etc. They are all valid, welcome, and such integral, crucial parts of the plural community!
You’re welcome to voice your opinions on the validity of other systems elsewhere, but that sort of thing is not welcome or wanted here.

"you're faking your disability for attention"
why would I spend a bunch of money on mobility aids just for attention?
I could spend that money on an onlyfans model and get much more attention.

something i've seen online as a reason to "fake-claim" pwCDDs, is that fact that sometimes a newly split alter already has some sort of knowledge right after forming. let's talk about it!
by this, i mean a few things. alters that split & immediately know how to blend in or mask as the host, alters who split & know who to go to for help, or alters who split & seem to already have the memories that other alters have. these situations have been used by some as "evidence" that someone with a CDD is faking. i think that is utter nonsense!
METHODS OF ALTER FORMATION
let's address this first. off the top of my head, i can think of three main ways a "new alter" can form.
popping into existence out of seemingly nowhere.
splitting *off* of another alter - mitosis style.
being the result of two alters fusing together.
these are three ways in which a "new alter" can be produced by your brain. in number 2, the subsequent split may or may not hold the memories the first alter had! there is a very real possibility that this new alter will have at least some memories, as they split from an existing alter. in number 3, the subsequent fusion can be considered a "new alter", despite likely containing the memories of both the alters that fused to form them. now, we have already covered two ways in which "new alters" would be able have memories, knowledge, & even life experiences despite recently forming.
GAINING KNOWLEDGE AS A NEW ALTER
in some systems, splitting a new, clueless alter can be an immense safety concern. for this reason - if we refer back to the previously mentioned method of splitting number 1 - alters may split with enough knowledge to be able to blend in. these may also be instincts, rather than explicit knowledge. they may have instincts to act confident in their abilities, to appear calm, or instincts to ask a specific person for help.
another thing to consider is co-consciousness. in the event that a new alter has split with absolutely zero instincts, prior knowledge, etc, but they appear from the outside to know exactly what to do, there is a chance that there may be a more experienced alter co-fronting or co-conscious with them. in my system, we are often 3-8 parts in front at the same time. if a new alter splits, odds are someone will be able to help them. this is not always the case, but it should be considered before you judge someone so harshly.
DIFFERENCES IN SYSTEM FUNCTIONING
here are some reminders:
not every system has amnesia, so not every new split will be "lost" or have no memories.
nowhere in the diagnostic criteria does it specify how new alters are supposed to act. therefore, you physically cannot fake-claim someone for their experiences when splitting.
some pwCDDs are near-constantly or very frequently splitting new parts - especially in polyfragmented DID. often, these people will be better equipped to function with new alters.
some pwCDDs split very rarely, & splitting may be highly distressing for them. be sure to listen to their needs if they require assistance.
not every instance of splitting is the same. some times may be easier than others - especially depending on what triggered the split!
all in all, there are many ways for a new alter to act. it is not your place to accuse someone of faking just because their splitting looks different to yours!

Shout out to that time I got accused of faking OSDD-1 because I didn't "specify what subtype I have"
Like girlie 1a and 1b are community terms, they aren't in the DSM, they aren't a diagnosis. Not using them and instead using the base diagnostic term is not a sign of faking 😭

The did-is-not-real account following all of the DID accounts on tumblr just to try to bully or belittle them is so fucking funny to me😂 fan behavior tbh. You must have a lot of hate in your heart to really spend so much time doing that instead of minding your business. Claims they are worried about malingerers as if that’s actually their problem to deal with and not someone’s personal therapy team. Yikes!
