As the Holidays approach, it is with our utmost excitement to announce that we will be having a special occasion planned just for this year; a secret gift-giving ceremony for all of this vault's lovely dwellers!

To celebrate the beautiful Fallout 4 community for the Holidays, I've devised a visual art form of a Secret Santa! Here's what you need to enter (send this via DM to the accounts listed below);

At least a half-body reference of your Sole Survivor

A brief description of their personality

List out one gift they'd like, and one gift they'd dislike, as well as their reactions upon being given either of these gifts! (Remember to keep it age appropriate, and be mindful of the subject material. No NSFW material.)

If there's anything else important to your character that you feel needs to be disclosed (such as drawing certain features), add those as well. [optional]

When the final applicant day approaches (Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at 12:00AM EST), you'll be given a random person's Sole Survivor to draw, as well as the prompt to draw them with either a gift they love, or a gift they hate. Try to stick to the writing given to you! Once you are given your prompt, you have 40 days, or until Tuesday, December 26th, 2023 at 12:00AM EST to finish your final drawing. Please do not post your secret Santa before Christmas Day, nor show it to the recipient. It's supposed to be a surprise!

While you do not have to post your art if either you or the owner of the character do not wish to, I would appreciate seeing every submission made! To apply for this Secret Santa, please message me (Serknighted on Tumblr, Yupknight on Instagram, or Serknight on Discord) with the following requirements listed above. If, for whatever reason, you cannot contact me, please comment, and I will find a way to get into contact with you. <3

after a 3.5-year hiatus from gifmaking, I re-learned how to gif at the end of November and have since gained quite a few new followers and also confirmed I will be on this website until the day I die. Many of you came right as I lost my job, dealt with the fallout and unemployment, found a new job, and started working... and for some reason have stayed through all of that?? So I decided to do a very randomly-timed follower appreciation event because you all have really kept me going these last few months.

Surprise!! I was your secret skeleton/Santa! I tried my hand making a design for your fallout new Vegas fnaf au you shared in the discord. Though since I couldnt really ask you about details I went off on a limb and hoped for the best with these guys. I would love to chat sometime if you're willing :DD

While the two drawing above are the only ones I colored I did do quite a few more sketches with this design which I shall place below the cut

Most of my drawings now a days tend to be on the back of receipt papers while I'm at work so I put together each and every drawing of my process on figuring out your design onto these pages

The top corner here was part of my original plan for ur gift, which would have been a scene from the one fanfic you linked. Sadly tho I really couldnt get my head wrapped around on how to draw that to my satisfaction so I instead moved onto figuring out how ur fallout au designs might work

For my own fallout fnaf au I didn't really put much thought into how sun and moons switching might differ from cannon, due to this being a different Universe with different technology of course. Your au seems to be far more grounded within fallout and I did my best to reflect that with my design choices here.

One idea that I went with(and stems from how I had originally thought sun and Moon's face plate had worked when I first saw them) is that The DCA's under face plate spins around depending on whos fronting rather than their face also swaping colors( which I could imagine being made with similar technology to a stealth boy) bc of this their face is most likely painted on with nothing moveable. Due to this, instead of seeing through thier fake eyes theres a camra at the middle of their face. reminiscent of an assaultron.

Hello!! It’s the time of year for giving! The Fallout Fandom Exchange Event #FOFebruary23!

This is our seasonal exchange, and everyone is invited to join.

For this event you will be creating content for other users, so please do not join unless you can commit to doing such. We understand that life can get in the way, and so we ask that if you must drop out please inform Mod Socks or Mod Squirrel! There is a three strike policy for dropping out from our exchange events, however dropping out without contacting us will bar you from participating in future events. Please check out the rules here for more information.

WHAT DOES THIS EVENT INVOLVE?

This will be a ‘gift’ exchanging event, and it will function like a secret santa. The idea is that you are assigned someone to create a gift for, and you will also receive a gift by another user (hence the ‘secret’ part. No one is certain who their gifter will be!). We will use a generator to randomly assign folks to each other, so if you have an issue with the user you are assigned please contact the mods as soon as possible so we may reassign you! Only gift formats that can be given digitally will be accepted (think writing, drawing, photo edits, mood boards, so on). So long as your giftee can receive the gift via a DM or post, we will see that as an acceptable format.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

TO ENTER please LIKE this post or contact the mods. We will consider all likes as interest in joining the Exchange Event, and you will be contacted by January 10th by @redrocketsquirrel. Those wishing to join privately, please send an ask to the blog (it won’t be published!) before January 7th.

Please do not like this post unless you are 100% interested in contributing to this event.

We encourage you to reblog this post regardless of interest, however. A reblog will not enter you into this event, but it will allow others to see and possibly participate!

ONCE YOU’RE IN

Once Jaunary 10th has passed, everyone who has joined the Exchange Event should be contacted. You will be asked three things, what your interests are (characters, locations, creatures, and so forth), what you would NOT like to see, and what format your contribution will be (written, drawn or other). Please feel free to make a list of your interests as this will help your gifter in creating your gift!

You will have three days to respond once contacted (January 13th). Those who do not respond within that time period will be dropped from the Exchange Event with no strikes against you. Once everything has been gathered, we will send everyone their giftee with the list of their interests on January 14th and 15th, and you will have a month to complete it. Again, if you have an issue with your assigned user let us know so we can reassign you! We want everyone to participate, but we don’t want anyone to be uncomfortable.

All gifts will be given on February 15th 2022 to February 18th 2022. This part is up to you! You will have the tumblr url of the person you are gifting to so you will be able to contact them. How you go about gifting is up to you, but please ensure you direct your giftee to your submission directly.

You can submit your gift publicly or privately. If you chose to post your work publicly, please tag it with #FOFebruary23, or if you chose to post privately (via DMing your giftee) please also inform the moderator that contacted you that you have given your gift.

Last year, I was threatening to write a meta series on mothers in classic Christmas movies, but other things got in the way as this is Things Getting in the Way of Plans Season. So, let's try this again.

To recap from last year, most of the mothers in my favorite Christmas movies have one important thing in common: they're dead (Prancer (1989) and the House Without a Christmas Tree (1972). When they are alive, they are often stay at home moms (Christmas Vacation (1989), A Christmas Story (1983), The Year Without a Santa Clause (1974) and probably more that are slipping my middle-aged mind). The first mother I want to talk about, though, is none of these things. Jon Favreau's Elf (2003) is a new classic that draws heavily on much older Christmas classics made by Rankin-Bass with one notable exception. Emily Hobbs (Mary Steenburgen) is a working mom who provides an example of the kind of work/life balance that alludes her husband until the end of the movie.

The first time we meet Emily, she is hearing for the first time about something Walter (James Caan) has been grappling with for two days at this point: he has a son from a previous relationship who believes he is a Christmas elf. Emily handles this news with surprising optimism and is nothing but generous and kind to Buddy. In some respects, this puts her in company with other Christmas movie moms whose main job is dealing with the fallout of their husbands' choices with as much dignity as they can manage. What makes Emily different is that it is not only her family that benefits from her accommodation of others. When Jovie sings "Santa Clause is Coming to Town," Emily is the first person to join her. Although both of these women have been drawn to Central Park in the same way--seeing people they care about on the news--there is no indication that the have met or that Emily is able to identify Jovie as Buddy's date from earlier that evening. Emily just sees a stranger in need of support and gives it to her.

There is a limit to Emily's accommodations, though, and she is as admirable for what she will not do as what she does. When Walter suggests that she stay home with Buddy, she refuses: "I have a budget meeting tomorrow." Although we never learn exactly what Emily's job is, it is taken seriously enough that Walter does not press the matter any further. She is still the person who does the most domestic labor, but when her husband takes his share of the dinner she has prepared to eat in his room, she lets her son know that is not acceptable behavior. "It's no secret that you haven't really been there for [Michael]" she tells Walter later. Unlike other Christmas moms, she does not accept that it is her job to run interference between her husband and their child. If Walter wants to repair his relationship with Michael, that is up to him.

Elf's representation of women is pretty solid considering how few of them there are in the story (I recently learned that Wanda Sykes was originally cast to play Buddy's manager at Gimbels, which no doubt would have been delightful!) I want to comment further on Jovie and Buddy's relationship, but that is a subject for a different post. It is worth pointing out that when Buddy visits the North Pole with his family at the end of the movie, he is holding his baby daughter for the entirely of the scene, showing the audience a final time the importance of balancing roles in a relationship. Although she is not one of the more dynamic central characters, Mary Steenburgen gives a portrayal of a mom who is kind, generous, and strong all at the same time. Christmas moms have come a long way since Rankin-Bass!

Sonic's Christmas To-Do List: Christmas fic with the classic brothers! Follows Sonic trying to convince Tails Santa is real because he's 4 and deserves it. My personal favorite (i think)! Current status: Completed one-shot. 3,633 words.

Project Polarization: Written for The Sonic Library January Prompt 2023! Prompt: mind control/amnesia. Eggman has a new plan, one that might take out Sonic for good. Current status: Chapter 1/2. 3,367 words.

Grew Up Too Fast: Conversation between Sonic and Shadow reminiscing on the past. Short and sweet. Probably the shortest fic I'll ever write. Current status: Completed one-shot. 526 words.

How To Bake a Mint Chocolate Cake: Valentine's fic where Sonic tries to cheer up Tails by baking him a cake. Sonic is a bad cook. Shenanigans ensue. Current status: Completed one-shot. 4017 words.

The Kingdom's Lost Prince and Healer: Written for Sonic Platonic Fairytale week day one: Rapunzel. In which Shadow takes on the role of Rapunzel, Rouge is Flynn Rider, and the Babylon Rouges are the Stabbington Brothers! :D Current status: Completed one-shot. 7310 words.

find the meaning in the stars: Written for The Sonic Library March 2023 Prompt: super forms. ARK siblings angst where Shadow is given a mission from Maria to find a reason for her to like the stars so much. A The Fall™️ fic. Current status: Completed one-shot. 3182 words.

A Responsibility To Carry On: Written for The Sonic Library April 2023 Prompt: transformation. Follows Tikal looking after Knuckles as he grows up. My new personal favorite fic I've written c: Current status: Completed one-shot. 3761 words.

Hold For Sixteen: A simple fic where Espio's a little stressed about what happened back on the Mirage Express so Vector prescribes him a trip to fish with Big. Current status: Completed one-shot. 2102 words.

Once every year, and it happened to be tonight: A metamy fic written for a friend in which Amy decides to revisit Little Planet, and finds she wasn't the only one. Her and Metal reminisce. Current status: Completed one-shot. 1512 words.

Not perfect, but memorable nonetheless: A fic written for a friend's birthday where Cream has a sleepover with Charmy and things go terribly, terribly, wrong. Current status: Completed one-shot. 2366 words.

The Weird Tail Trio in: The Case of the Console Caper!: Written for The Sonic Library Secret Santa in July 2023! Tails, Belle, and Tangle team up to take on a case where someone took a gaming console from the Spiral Hill library.
