A racist accusation, a botched investigation. Then, decades later, an apology in Boston.
youtube
The mayor of Boston formally apologized to two Black men who were wrongfully accused of murdering a pregnant white woman and her unborn child in 1989 – a notorious murder case that sowed decades of distrust between the Boston Police Department and the city's Black community.
youtube
"I am so sorry for what you endured," Michelle Wu said in an apology addressed to Willie Bennett and Alan Swanson, at a news conference on Wednesday. "I am so sorry for the pain that you have carried for so many years. What was done to you was unjust, unfair, racist and wrong."
In 1989, Swanson and Bennett were named as suspects in the death of Carol Stuart, whose husband, Charles Stuart, plotted her killing and then accused an unidentified Black man for the murder, sparking what the mayor called a "systemic campaign targeting Black men" based on "a false, racist claim."
Michael Cox, the Boston police commissioner, apologized on behalf of the police department for "the poor investigation, overzealous behavior and, more likely, unconstitutional behavior."
Flanking the speakers were Swanson and members of Bennett's family. The mayor handed them formal apology letters and said the gesture was "just the beginning of a much longer journey of accountability and action."

4/11/2024 Update. He got his channel back. Youtuber Chazington has been hit with multiple false copyright claims in an attempt to take his channel down. All of his videos are currently privated because of this. He cannot settle this claim on his own because the person sending these false claims is a stalker that will have his address if he retaliates.

I want to talk about a scam that's been going on for a while now. So many people are blind to it because they're too trusting and misinformed.
If you're buying from dropshippers, it's definitely just dyed quartz or a synthetic stone. The hematite you bought off Etsy, Instagram, or someone's online store is most definitely synthetic. These people will claim they work with providers who guarantee that the stones and crystals are real. They buy the synthetic crystals in bulk for cheap and jack up the prices to sell to uninformed buyers.
You absolutely will not be getting genuine Jade for only $3.67 +shipping and handling. Real malachite can be very expensive so that $2 malachite bracelet that claims to be 100% natural malachite is fake. Opals can cost in the thousands per carat.
The claims these sellers make about their crystals and gems being genuine are false. Please do your research before you buy.

Rep.-elect George Santos made additional false claims over the years about his family history, work history and education in campaign appearances over the years, a review of statements made in two of his campaigns for Congress found.
CNN's KFile uncovered more falsehoods from Santos, including claims he was forced to leave a New York City private school when his family's real estate assets took a downturn and stating he represented Goldman Sachs at a top financial conference where he berated the company for investing in renewables.
CNN also reviewed more instances of Santos providing additional false history of his family's background. In one interview, Santos said his mother's family's historical Jewish name was "Zabrovsky," and later appeared to operate a GoFundMe campaign for a pet charity (which he falsely claimed was a 501(c)(3) nonprofit) under that alias. Genealogists CNN previously spoke with found no evidence of Jewish or Ukrainian heritage in his family tree.
In another, he said his mother, whose family has lived in Brazil since the late 1800s, was a White immigrant from Belgium.
Santos' campaign did not respond to CNN's comment request.
Since reports first surfaced about his false claims, Santos has made efforts to downplay his fabrications as mere "embellishments." But the previously unreported claims from Santos illustrate a pattern of fabricating details about his life, often in service of presenting a more compelling or interesting personal narrative. The Nassau County district attorney's office said Wednesday that it is looking into Santos' fabrications, though it did not specify the falsehoods it would explore.
In interviews over the past few days, Santos admitted to lying about parts of his resume, including graduating from college, but he told the New York Post that the misrepresentation of his work history at Goldman Sachs and Citigroup was a "poor choice of words." There is no record he worked at the top financial institutions in the country, as he had previously claimed.
Santos also denied that he falsely called himself Jewish, claiming he "never claimed to be Jewish" but jokingly said he was "Jew-ish" to the New York Post. He also falsely claimed that his grandparents "survived the Holocaust" and fled Europe to escape Jewish persecution. But CNN found that Santos called himself an "American Jew" and "Latino Jew" on multiple occasions. The Republican Jewish Coalition disinvited Santos from appearing at any of its events because he "misrepresented his heritage."
Despite the scandals, the New York Republican, who flipped his Long Island seat, said he will take office in January — spurring calls to resign from Democrats.
Here are some of the outright falsehoods CNN found:
WENT TO FANCY PREP SCHOOL, BUT LEFT BECAUSE HIS FAMILY'S REAL ESTATE IMPLODED
In appearances, and in an old campaign biography, Santos claimed his parents sent him to Horace Mann, an elite private school in the Bronx.
"He began Horace Mann preparatory school in the Bronx, however, did not graduate from Horace Mann due to financial difficulties for his family," his biography read in 2019 for his first campaign for Congress that Santos lost. "He obtained a GED during his senior year."
Santos also made the same claim in an appearance on a YouTube show in 2020.
"They sent me to a good prep school, which was Horace Mann Prep in the Bronx. And, in my senior year of prep school, unfortunately my parents fell on hard times, which was something that would later become known as the depression of 2008. But we were hit a little earlier on with the overleveraging of real estate. And the market started to implode. Um, and the first thing to go was the prep school. You know, you, you can't afford a $2,500 tuition at that point, right? So anyway, um, I left school, uh, four months to graduation."
But the claim is false, according to the school.
"We've searched the records and there is no evidence that George Santos (or any alias) attended Horace Mann," Ed Adler, a spokesman for the school, told CNN.
CLAIMED HE CRITICIZED GOLDMAN SACHS AT PRIVATE EQUITY CONFERENCE AS AN EMPLOYEE
"Have you ever heard of a Goldman Sachs employee take the stage at the largest private equity conference in the world -- SALT, run by Anthony Scaramucci -- and berate their employer? Well, I did that," Santos said on a local podcast this summer. "And I did it in the fashion of renewable energy and global warming. This was the panel I was on. And they're all talking about solar, wind, and this was back, what, seven years ago now? And I said, you know what, this is a scam. It's taxpayer money that gets subsidized."
The claim is entirely fictional, according to both Goldman Sachs -- which has said Santos never worked there -- and Scaramucci, who runs the conference.
Scaramucci told CNN in a message there is not only no record of him appearing on a panel, but no record of him even attending the conference.
CLAIMED FAMILY'S JEWISH NAME WAS ZABROVSKY (AND FUNDRAISED UNDER IT)
In an appearance on a Fox News digital show in February, Santos said his maternal grandparents changed their Jewish last name from Zabrovsky -- a claim for which there is no evidence and records contradict.
"We don't carry the Ukrainian last name. For a lot of people who are descendants of World War II refugees or survivors of the Holocaust, a lot of names and paperwork were changed in the name of survival. So I don't carry the family last name that would've been Zabrovsky. I carry my mother's maiden name which is the Dutch side of the family."
Megan Smolenyak, an author and professional genealogist who helped research Santos' family tree at CNN's request, previously told CNN, "There's no sign of Jewish and/or Ukrainian heritage and no indication of name changes along the way."
Santos deleted his former private Facebook account last week, but CNN's KFile reviewed records indicating he used the alias of "Anthony Zabrovsky" for fundraising for a pet charity. The GoFundMe page under that alias no longer exists. CNN reached out to GoFundMe but did not receive a response.
SANTOS CLAIMED HIS MOM IMMIGRATED FROM BELGIUM
In one radio appearance from December 2020, Santos falsely claimed that his mother "fled socialism" in Europe and moved to the United States.
"My father fled socialism in Brazil. My mother fled socialism in Europe, and they came here and built a family. And today they can be proud to have a son who is a well accomplished businessman, who is now running for United States Congress. That's something that wasn't in the cards for my family," Santos said.
He also claimed in another interview from 2020 that he "grew up with a White Caucasian mother, an immigrant from Belgium."
But Santos' mother was born in Brazil, according to genealogical records.

101 Things You Should Know About the UK Tory Government
Thing 86
Boris Johnson has claimed that if we had not come out of the EU, thereby making ourselves free to:
“..do our own regulation… we wouldn’t have been able to do that vaccine rollout so fast. And you know, it is literally true that Brexit helped save lives." (HuffPost:01/02/230
This claim is totally without merit. According to figures issued by  Worldometer today (01/02/23) Britain’s Covid death rate per million head of population is HIGHER than many EU countries.
Country Covid Deaths per Million of Population
United Kingdom 2891
France 2504
Germany 1975
Italy 3100
Spain 2535
Netherlands 1336
Belgium 483
Portugal 2566
Ireland 1686
In the list above, only Italy has a higher Covid death rate than the UK  so claims that Brexit saved British lives is just untrue. In fact, the evidence would suggest the exact opposite.

So, recently I was shown a Facebook post circulated by elder members of a coworker's community claiming that the government had purchased 30,000 guillotines and established a series of bases for use as internment kill camps. Who they're allegedly planning on killing en masse in such an inefficient fashion is anyone's guess. Funnier still is the image accompanying said post supposedly depicting one of these tactical guillotines...
Tumblr media
You know, at least the government is spending the big bucks on the name brand version.
This, in reality, is an art peice created in 2000 by Tom Sachs.
This conspiracy theory has been in circulation since 2013 and is still being shared by the ignorant and fearful today. Please speak to those in your life that succumb to the manipulative idiocy of social media, and perhaps make an effort to educate them on the nature and proper usage of the internet. It isn't hard to fact-check a source, especially when the claim is completely unbelievable to begin with.
Knowledge is power.

CRT will never change. She is a constant liar, a conspiracy theorist, and one of the biggest trolls in the Outlander fandom. The worst part is she likes to mock and criticize shippers for their beliefs, which in the end makes her a total hypocrite. Her blog has become nasty gossip with no real substance to it. A lot of good people I know have left tumblr because of this nonsense she and others promote. CRT has lost all sense of reasoning. It’s painfully obvious she thrives on the division, hate, negativity and chaos that she willfully supports on a daily basis. It’s sad and pathetic!!! I agree with the Anon and @outlanderfandomfollies! I usually try to ignore this kind of shit and false claims that CRT has no problem spreading because we both have each other blocked, but she truly is an awful, and despicable person. I know some of her followers think she is nuts too, because I talk to them in DM. For whatever reason, she refuses to face reality and it’s disturbing behavior.

Medicare, DOJ, Fraud and the Eclipse?
Happy Eclipse Monday! The post title is meant as a bit of fun but there is a bit of relevancy as well. Billing fraud occurs via a process of hiding what actually has transpired (or should have) with the care of a patient. The most typical fraud is overbilling or charging the government for care not necessary or not actually provided. Recently, the case of Phillip Esformes reached final…

As native Gazans, the plight of my family weighs heavily on my heart. Trapped in our beloved city of Rafah, they sought refuge there after my grandmother's cancer diagnosis necessitated treatment unavailable elsewhere. However, the encroaching presence of a militant force has turned our once vibrant home into a battleground. Hindered by my grandmother's frail health, fleeing was not an option. Now, they are ensnared atop an apartment building overrun by militia, surrounded by danger and uncertainty. My aunts, both battling illness and injuries, along with my young cousins, are trapped in a nightmare. As a fellow Gazan and well-wishers, I implore you to extend your compassion and aid. Please, help us bring my family to safety amidst this turmoil.
Consider extending your support to my family during this hour of darkness.
For the love of fuck, these fraudulent blogs are a new level of vile

Knoxville dentist will repay nearly $1 million after TennCare billing investigation
A Knoxville dentist has agreed to pay nearly $1 million to resolve allegations of false claims to TennCare, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Dr. Michael Sawaf and his company, Premier Dental Group of Knoxville on Concord Street, violated the False Claims Act and the Tennessee Medicaid False Claims Act by knowingly and improperly submitting false claims, the release said. TennCare prohibits billing of services that are not provided or are unnecessary, or claims with upcharges to receive higher reimbursements.
Two people who worked with the dental group, Erin Ferdowsi and Reja Ferdowsi, have agreed to resolve similar allegations made against them, the agency said.
The amount Sawaf agreed to pay was $985,541. It covers allegations that between Jan. 1, 2016, through Dec. 31, 2020, and a period of time between Aug. 14 and Sept. 11, 2019, the group submitted claims for payment that misidentified credentialed dentists as the provider for services done by uncredentialed dentists.
The settlement was a collaboration between the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Tennessee, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Tennessee Attorney General's Office and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

You are being lied to. He is making stuff up.
Good evening, my name is Master Adam Sir in the Kink and BDSM scene. I have been involved in the kink scene for for over 20 years. starting in Kansas City then moving to Los Angeles and currently in Phoenix. I have never been accused of being an abuser. Yes, I have former slaves who don't want to talk to me like Temprace and Phillabuster but u don't believe they would call me abusive. I took our break up badly and acted foolishly. I don't belueve my former slaves Lynx or Si'lat would say that I am abusive. I don't believe my long time slave Dracomancer would say I was abusive.
U have always ben one to advocate believing those who claim to be a victim. Today I have to step out of that mind set. my slave Ukai (Dylan or Kane... he uses so many different names) has accused me of abuse.
I want to say clearly and emphatically I did not abuse Dylan. Every thing that we did was clearly negotiated. I do not even have a punishments in my dynamics beyond making them write standards.
Sadly, those who know I was not abusive to Ukai refuse to speak up. While privately they say they don't belueve him they are not will to expose themselves.
I remember when this community was about honor and integrity. Today I fear. to many innocent Dominants are gettimg the short staff in a culture that wants to believe the submissive/slave.
I am being falsely accused by Ukai-Dylan-Kane of abuse.
I ask you this... why has Ukai (Dylan/Kane) accused so many people of abuse? He has accused all 3 of his former Dominants of being abusive and has accused a fellow submissive play partner of abuse! At one pount one has to ask are all these people abusive or us Kane/Ukai/Dylan just being manipulative and crying wolf for sympathy.
