Totally didn't make an original fan-character for Monkie Kid.

Totally didn't do research to make sure the basis of said character would fit.

Totally didn't just basically repurpose an original stories main character who was a repurposed Akatsuki no Yona fan-character.

Totally didn't do research into a proper outfit for the time period that Journey to the West was set in.

Totally not low-key obsessing over this character.

Totally wasn't casually considering making her before "Trust Me" by "The Fray" made ideas explode out of my brain.

Okay enough of that gag. (basic info on the character under the cut)

Yes, this is Kumi. She is the Chinese version of a nine-tailed fox with a few creative liberties to the myth taken to fit with the story I want to tell with her.

She's gaining tails over time (hence only having seven in this reference image) but they aren't symbols of how old she is. Instead, they represent how close she is to becoming human (which is what her main motivation is) and where a tenth one would appear is where she becomes human.

And the way to gaining those tails is eating a certain number of hearts of prideful men. But she hates seeing death so while centuries of life and being around wars and such have given her ample opportunity to gain those six extra tails she now has, she's still got a long way to go before becoming human.

And that's all I'm revealing just in case I do decide to do something with the story I've got in mind. If it'll be a fanfic, it'll be a short one, that's for sure.
