Minors who go into kinky, adult-oriented content and then proceed to complain about "proshippers"? I just have one question:
Why in the hell are you looking at 18+ content? It says it's 18+, you have no business interacting with it or the content creator.
The only person to blame here is yourself. Stay out of adult spaces.

Dungeon Meshi is just ripe for shipping, isn't it? Every major character has chemistry with someone: Marcille and Falin, Kabru and everyone (that man's in a polycule and you can't convince me otherwise), Chilchuck and Senshi, Namari and Kiki...

Hello BPP,
One of the thoughts I have had over the last few days, and one I hope doesn't offend anyone, is that shipping sometimes is founded in selfishness.
The reason I have come to this conclusion is the behaviour of a certain community that is quite vocal online in their displeasure over the content that gets produced. They have turned to focusing solely on the members they ship instead of grasping the emotional weight of the moments we get to observe. They immediately jump to the conclusion of a conspiracy against their ship, despite how non-sensical repressing said ship would be from a purely capitalistic viewpoint, and then use footage that was taken without the consent of the members and after their express wish for fans to not appear at the send-off to support their theory. I have heard of them furthering the narrative that their ship is real due to private moments yet these moments are either (a) debunked by those who are not sucked into the narrative or (b) obtained by sharing videos once again without the consent of their shippées.
But it isn't about the bond between JK and Tae for them but rather being right, about being the ones to see the truth - going against the grain - and whatever rhetoric they like to employ.
It's about the fetishisation of two attractive men being together, a comforting thought for what I imagine to be girls and women that would like to be in a relationship with these two themselves. Why else would they mostly focus on bashing a company and real human beings because they're not being catered to?
It is quite disturbing to consider how there's this willingness to cross boundaries of every type, including tweeting at an actual government branch and then accusing said branch of furthering fanservice. All of it is, as I stated at the beginning, selfish. There is no consideration for the feelings of the people they claim to protect, no media literacy, no acceptance of Occam's Razor, no interest in factual depictions.
I hope they grow tired soon, because it is tiring to even witness in the periphery.
---
Sorry for the quite stilted English, I've been watching too many video essays the past few days and I physically cannot turn off that filter.

It’s sad, amusing and concerning all at the same time, isn’t it? You’ve hit the nail on the head and yeah it applies to most shippers: taekookers especially but also many jikookers, and even solo stans, who resort to the same mental leaps when their expectations aren’t met. I agree with you and have said much the same several times in the last few years.
I don’t share your hope that they grow tired soon though. In fact what tends to happen is that they become even more unhinged. The more they invest into their theories and worldview, the more they take increasingly invasive steps to validate those theories. It’s sad and one of the worst expressions of sunk cost fallacy I’ve seen in fandom. The most we can do as fans is to check that behaviour when we see it in the fandom, and deplatform people building a following set on those ideas. And hope to god that the military does a decent job of ensuring their security while in service.

Thinking about Sandman ships this morning and wondering why we are all ignoring Johanna Constantine.
She's a messy disaster bisexual who had oodles of sexual chemistry with Dream and could totally canonically know Hob Gadling.
I know the Dream/Hob/Calliope throuple is popular and I do get it if you are a fan of the show only, but I find it impossible to ship Dream/Calliope after knowing the comic story. Its just too sad and honestly, our girl can do better.
I like that they ramped up the romance there and the "i would kill for you" attitude from Morpheus in episode 11 so yeah totally get why we are swooning over that, but I think there are other less painful ships to explore.
Johanna Constantine is an amazing character and this fandom is sadly sleeping on her.
She should totally get to have a very messy disastrous affair with Morpheus and then break his heart worse than Thessaly ever could. She should then move on and date Death just to twist the knife. THAT would be an awesome ship.
Put her in a throuple with Dream and Hob instead. She'd be walking all over both of them and having the time of her life doing so.
Actually we should also be shipping her with Lucifer. Classic enemies to lovers right there given the job profession and quite frankly I'd love to see Gwendoline Christie step on that feisty little bisexual disaster. Possibly the only time I dont view Johanna as a total dom.
Dream may be the fandom bicycle, but Johanna Constantine should be the fandom bus. Making her way through every character sometimes at the same time.
Just a thought.

i thought we left the “i don’t ship [pairing the post is about] but…” behind years ago before the decade began, but i guess not, so here’s your reminder (if it applies to you) to cease that immediately + thanks!

Just saw someone say Sabucci needs to be called LuSabo since Lucci is typically the top, but guys, my dudes, LuSabo is Luffy X Sabo!
Can we all agree that we don’t need ship names to tell us who’s on top anymore? Relationships don’t work that way, people don’t work that way! And readers are smart and don’t need a differentiation between one person or the other taking the lead in the desired ship!
It’s Sabucci because that is literally the nicest way to combine Sabo and Lucci’s names together!
I don’t use the term Dofuwani because I like Doflamingo on top, it’s just the best sounding ship name in my opinion. I just as frequently make au’s where Crocodile tops and still call that Dofuwani!
And literally nothing, especially whose taking the lead, will get me to call Lawlu anything other than Lawlu. I refuse to use the other ship names.

"I think its good to have strong platonic relationships between men and women in fiction" and "I like these two characters and think they'd make a cute couple" are two statements that can coexist actually.

part of me really does worry that there is people like I used to be and the one person I replied to today that genuinely think because we dont explicitly state ages that we ship 14 y old Danny and 16 y old Jazz with like what 19-?? y old Jason
Should we be more strict about stating ages? I didn’t really realize until now that’s why I was so uncomfortable with Dead On Main for a long time
and then I realized like- people write fics aging up their characters for relationships (aka fast forwarding to the life they’re having at that age) all the time!!!!
This isn’t new and I feel like the practice of aging up characters in the way the dpxdc fandom has is good because we do adjust their behaviors and appearance and general status of living etc as a result of the fact this canonical 14 y old is 21 in this fic, ya know?
But also I dont want people to be new and therefore uncomfortable with this common thing so… maybe we should just make a point of listing their ages?
Idk cuz there’s nuance in fiction and some stuff is messed up because we’re specifically pointing out “hey dont do this!” right but others dont get that its okay to have f’d up stuff in media as long as its clear we arent condoning it
this got a bit out of hand…. sorry

"fiction affects reality" in the sense that some people in fandoms make it their whole personality and free time to try and be moral police about other people.

It's definitely mostly a me thing (and I don't have an actual problem when people do this lol), but I hate HATE when people are referring to two characters in a ship and talk about them as each other's "other halves". I hate that phrase SOOO much. Like NO!! they are not two halves that make a whole!! They are two wholes that make something so cool and interesting and beyond themselves!! But they are still their own people!!! (Like technically they're each half of the relationship, but they aren't the other half of each other)
I LOVEEEE when people display characters existing as their own people outside of the ships they're in. It's definitely the aromantic in me but as much as I enjoy shipping, I do not enjoy a character's whole existence in fandom spaces being nothing more than a vessel for a relationship

My general rules for shipping are
1.) is it funny
2.) can we make it funny
3.) when will it be funny
