the thing about being in a fandom for a long time is you inevitably develop very intense opinions about things you know objectively are absolutely meaningless but nonetheless make you want to gnaw through drywall like a feral cat and there's just nothing you can do about that

At the risk of only making sense to like 3 people in the world can I just say that Gabriel from Constantine (2005) and Millions Knives from Trigun: Stampede (2023) have matching energy

PSA - don’t let anyone in this fandom dampen your excitement for the new season. This is a whole new ball game — new network, Tim’s back, they have a budget now, they’re actually getting the promotion they deserve. Things ARE different now than the last few seasons.
Ignore the toxic bullshit and have fun.

I still use Facebook to keep up with real-life friends and community, so I'm in a bunch of fandom groups to keep my feed varied, instead of solid walls of FB ads and news articles.
Over the past week or so, there has been massive, incredibly petty drama in a fandom group I have since left. The details of that drama aren't important--what's important is that the drama and discourse is about a completely different television show than the group is supposedly about. Over the span of a week, the entire group has become a rancid discourse pit of fighting over something completely off-topic. Several members have posted and commented asking why the group has veered so off-topic, and have been shut down by the people perpetuating the discourse.
Lines have been drawn, the admins picked a side, and the end result of the shitshow is, "if you like [Show B], you aren't welcome in this group about [Show A], and we're going to keep shit-talking [Show B] until everyone who likes it leaves. No attempt will be made to steer the group back on-topic."
The reason I bring this up is to give a reminder PSA:
If you are in a fandom space, and that fandom space is more invested in shit-talking other fandoms or group members than it is in discussing the actual subject the fandom is about, you are in an unhealthy space. It's not worth it. Go find a better space where the vibe isn't "rancid hater pit that's only interested in picking fights and choosing sides."
You and your fandom experience will be better for it.

I wasn’t going to say anything, and I still don’t want to. But seeing the rampant discourse freely shitting on Succession by people who admit to not having even watched it, and some actually equating liking the show to being racist/complicit in some Hollywood conspiracy, has tipped me over the edge.
You can love and support Pedro and TLOU without bringing another show down.

Does anyone else go back and read your favorite scenes of fics instead of the whole story again? Like sure, I've read this 60k fic before, but I want to read this one moment again and again.
Tell me what you're reread scenes are (not necessarily my fics, I just want to know what has you obsessed.)

It's Not That Deep
Being kind is a choice. Sadly, so is being a dick.
I absolutely adore being part of a community where I can share my passion with others, be it as a writer of fanfic or simply a bystander. However, there are also downsides to being within a community, and sadly, it is other people who can ruin that joy and our experience of creating something for other fans, who want to devour content while a series is still being created, or has come to an end.
It seems like it is a frequent thing for a handful of people to ruin the fandom experience for others. They become anonymous or hide behind a name in order to actively go out of their way to harass creators within the community. There have been threats and vile accusations thrown about, and for what? To scare people off of AO3 and tumblr, just because you don't like something they created for a FICTIONAL character within a FICTIONAL setting?
Loves, it's not that deep.
Sadly, these kinds of people have run creators off of various apps and websites with their continued harassment. They have gone above and beyond to act horrible towards people they don't know, for a story or a piece of artwork they could have clicked the back button on. For something THEY can actively turn their back on and ignore.
If they had as much passion and energy for real world issues, their time would be much better spent. Instead, they have chosen to take a cowards route and harass other people online for something that is, in truth, insignificant to them. It is as if these people are consciously ignoring tags or warnings, because they WANT to start a fight and act in such a disgusting manner.
I can't understand it, really. Your time is much better spent doing things you enjoy, rather than coming after people who are doing the things that they enjoy.
Now, if the creators were actively promoting bad things, then yes, call them out on it or report them. Half the time though, these creators put disclaimers about how they don't promote certain things, but it is there for fictional purposes.
Our time and energy is precious, and for those taking time out of their hectic schedules to share their passion with us is a wonderful gift. Yet there are those who want to destroy that passion, and it is a sad thing when they win; sadly, cruelty often trumps kindness, and I have seen one too many creators fall to the whims of people who prefer to be dicks over being kind.
I would hope these people eventually see some sense and stop what they are doing, but trolls don't always see reason or see the light. I just hope that someday they get the hug they have been craving, or perhaps the talk they need to understand why they act like this. Until then:
It's not that deep.
It's not that serious.
It is FICTION, not reality.
Your favourites won't notice you regardless of how hostile you become.
You are not making the internet a better place with your harassment.
Have a hug, eat a snickers. I highly doubt you'd act like this in real life to people you know, or to someone else's face, so go have a nap and chill a bit. Don't make a mountain of a molehill, and remember that these fictional characters you are getting into a tizzy over are not real.
Thanks. Peace out.
Edit to add: I have yet to be harassed. I know it will happen one day, because it is inevitable at this point, but I am speaking out for my friends and fellow writers who have sadly experienced it.

Dude it is so interesting to me how different husk and angel are treated by their soul owner.
Also like, Husk has seen how Valentino treats Angel, he’s not only had a first hand experience but he has seen how fucked up angel seems when he gets back to the hotel after work.
But Angel has seen nothing but Alastor occasionally telling Husk what to do. Like he knows that Husk can relate to him and he thinks Alastor is freaky as fuck but he’s never seen to what extend Alastor has control of him.
Which we can’t blame him for obviously cause we didn’t even see how bad it was until episode 5. Alastor does treat Husk like a pet and i’m so curious why he left husk alive after killing almost every overlord he faced??
I really hope we get a scene of angel asking husk to go into more detail about what happened to him or maybe Alastor threatening husk in front of the others and everyone is kinda like “what the shit”
Like look at him. He’s absolutely terrified
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alastor clearly has a firmer hold on Husk then it seems and I feel like it’s gonna prevent husk from keeping up with the others

Since the Twitter trash might be invading very soon, I feel like I need to clear something up because I’ve seen some very concerning rhetoric being popularized on Twitter and TikTok.
People are being led to believe that “proship” and “pedophile” are interchangeable. They’re not. They are not even remotely the same thing. Here is what proship ideology actually is:
You do not believe in harassing people over ships, fetishes, kinks, etc., even if you disagree with those things on a moral basis because you understand it’s none of your damn business.
People DO NOT owe you an explanation for why they like something you disagree with. That does NOT make them a bad person, and it does NOT mean they’re hiding something. It just means they don’t want to give their life story to a stranger on the internet, which is completely reasonable.
You understand that fictional characters have no rights and therefore do not need to be protected.
What you enjoy in fiction is NOT a 1:1 reflection of what you condone in real life.
It is the responsibility of a content creator to tag their content appropriately and use the correct warnings when applicable. After that, the responsibility falls solely on the person consuming that content. It is up to the consumer to curate their own online experience through blocking and blacklisting. It is NOT the creator’s job to magically know what will trigger you, a stranger on the internet, and cater to you.
The Internet IS NOT nor has it EVER been a safe space. You need to set your own boundaries and figure out how to navigate your online experience within those boundaries.
Different cultures have different moral standards. What you were raised to believe is reprehensible or weird might be perfectly acceptable and normal in someone else’s culture.
Fictional content, when tagged correctly, will NOT harm real people. In some cases, creating fictional content is what’s keeping someone from harming real people because it gives them an alternative outlet for whatever issues they’re dealing with. But again, they do not owe you that explanation.
Proship means anti-censorship, NOT pro-pedophilia. Fuck Twitter and TikTok for brainwashing people into believing otherwise.

i want to see if there's a correlation between having adhd and liking the percy jackson show
if you have not been formally diagnosed with adhd (through public health care OR private diagnoses) but you think you have it based on actual research and not just someone saying if you do these quirky things you have adhd then choose self-diagnosed. if not please choose don't have adhd. this is not here to alienate people but to look for a genuine correlation between these factors
the same goes for other neurodiveregencies (which includes asd, ocd, ptsd, bpd, diagnosed clinical mental health issues like depression and anxiety, anything that falls under neurodivergent)
by like or don't like, i mean having issues with the show that are more than "damn i wish this was still in it but i'm not annoyed by it", so issues with the story or pacing or characterisations or ommiting what you thing are important things, stuff like that
and if you are annoyed about leah or aryan being cast i don't give a shit you are a waste of oxygen and i hope you choke, don't vote in this poll you racist fuckwits
if i missed an option please let me know. i might do one based on if you read the books as a kid or as an adult or at all
