In the Black Archive, Kate, Shirley, and Martha Jones poured through the Doctor’s files, attempting to match the face from the security footage to the Doctor’s records.
“Here,” Martha held up a photo. “It’s this one. ‘The Valeyard,’ theorized to be the Doctor’s last incarnation, represents all of the darkness in him.” Her face fell. “If… if he’s darkness incarnate, that means the Lumiat is…”
Kate’s eyes widened. “Don’t say it.”
“...the Master.”
Kate merely stared into the distance while Shirley shook her head. “But that doesn’t make any sense! She’s too nice to be the Master!”

Just imagined one of the Doctor's future regenerations just being an absolutely stacked, musclebound beefcake in biker duds, who doesn't realize they aren't a scrawny nerd anymore, and act like a great Dane who thinks they're a lapdog.

I’m too tired to make a whole tumblr fic post because of the way I formatted it.
But I’ll be reblogging with a link a nEw FiC!! It’s not a real new fic, it’s an old new fic. Tangled Timelines is still my main priority whenever I actually start writing again. I’ve dived into the wip folder for editing though and found something that was originally supposed to be massive and can be broken up into many lil fics.
Waste No Time Pairing: Ninth Doctor/Rose Tyler Rated: T Wordcount: 11,355
Summary: If saving the world will always be the top priority, Rose doesn't think there's a reason not to take small risks every now and then. Life is short. No regrets.
Preview:
It had been a couple of days. It had been a year. Depends on who you were asking.
As Rose stood there, listening through a tinny speakerphone connection to the lies the Slitheen were telling the planet, she suddenly really felt like it actually had been a year since she ran into the TARDIS, since she'd been just a girl who worked in a shop. It was all so different.
She  was different.
They were going to nuke the Earth. Kill everyone without a single care at all.
"Alright, Doctor," she heard her mother on the phone and finally felt a little more grounded, "I'm not saying I trust you, but there must be something you can do."
There was. There had to be. She'd only known him a couple days, but it felt like a year and Rose believed in him.

My perusal of old FFnet favorites continues on. I've been pretty pleased to find so many cross posted to Ao3, though occasionally I'll find one that started to get cross posted and, sadly, was never completed. But I can still bookmark the completed external version and keep an eye on the incomplete versions in hope that, one day, they'll get the rest of the chapters added after all.
Double Crossing by JessaLRynn - Ten and Rose run into Seven and Ace at a Star Trek convention. Throw in some actual aliens, a missing prince, and disguised weapons dealers and it's just another Tuesday for these four, really.
A Ten/Rose (with some Seven/Rose too) fic now with a follow up Eight/Rose story. Double Crossing shows as much love to Star Trek as it does Doctor Who and it's a wild ride from start to finish. I was glad to find it over on Ao3 where it's rated T.
KOTOR: Revan's Second Chance by VMorticia - Revan remembers who he is after the escape from the Endar Spire; not everything, but enough. And while he no longer has the ambition to be a Dark Lord of the Sith, Revan knows two things. Admitting he remembers who he is would be a terrible idea and… what happened to Malak is his mess to clean up.
It's an unusual premise (especially for a fic following the game's light side path) and one I really enjoyed. Revan can be at times charming or an ass, but he does care a great deal about others. So it's easy to see the Jedi he used to be and the Sith he became in the person he is now. I was unable to find it on Ao3, so this one is linked to FFnet. It's rated T and the ship is eventually Bastila/Revan.
The Adventures of Ten, Rose, and Jack by SanguineInk - The series starts with Two Months, in which the Doctor and Rose show up before the ghosts start showing up and run straight into Torchwood One. Which is when Jack shows up, just in time to help fight some Torchwood One flunkies and some Cybermen too.
A four part series with Ten/Rose and Ten, Rose, and Jack friendship that starts as a Doomsday fix-it and grows from there. It's a lot of running, drama, and fun, so it really captures the feel of the show. I read the first three over on FFnet years ago, so I'm thrilled to find there's actually a fourth fic in the series now that I've rediscovered it on Ao3.
Shadows of the Future by stormqueen873 - After losing the duel on Mustafar, Obi-Wan wakes in the past right as Anakin walks into his life for the first time. And Obi-Wan is determined to ensure things won't happen the same way around this time.
While this did start to get cross-posted on Ao3 back in 2016, looks like it was never completed there. The version I've linked to is on FFnet, which is complete. While I do wonder why it didn't get finished when crossposted to Ao3, I'm glad the FFnet version is still around because this is probably my favorite time traveling Obi-Wan fic out there. It's rated K+ and is gen, with a focus on Obi-Wan's relationships with Qui-Gon and Anakin.
Fools Rush In by LoveSupreme - X-Men AU where Erik runs a coffee shop and has a bit of a crush on a handsome man who passes by every day. It wouldn't have come to anything, until one day Annoying Cappucino Lady drags her cute friend Charles into Erik's shop.
It's on Ao3 now and has a whole series!!! I don't remember this one strongly but I do remember it being cute. So having even more story now makes me pretty excited. It's not rated on Ao3, but it's probably about a T? I don't remember anything warranting an M in there, though I could be wrong. And the ship is, of course, Charles/Erik.
Charlotte Francine Xavier by Blind_Author - A rewrite of X-Men First Class, where Charles Xavier is now Charlotte. And though much stays the same… so much is changed too.
I was excited to find this one on Ao3 too. A lot of the beats here are the same as in the movie, but the fic also does a good job of distinguishing itself from the movie's plot too. Obviously its a genderswap fic and the ship is Charlotte/Erik. Rated Explicit and I do remember it earns that rating pretty hard and it has some darker elements to it than the movie did.
If I Knew You Then: Part 1 by Ruchira - When Tom and B'Elanna meet at the Academy, years before Voyager is lost in the Delta Quadrant, it completely changes their lives.
The first of four fics following Tom and B'Elanna from the Academy to their eventual arrival on Voyager; while they end up stranded in the Delta Quadrant on Voyager in the end, just like in canon, how they get there changes radically. It's Tom/B'Elanna for the ship and all the fics are rated T. I wasn't able to find them on Ao3, but they're all still up on FFnet.

The TARDIS Primeval
THE TARDIS PRIMEVAL
Years ago, during the Eleventh Doctor’s run, I had a dream that the Twelfth Doctor was a velociraptor in a Viking helmet, and Jack Harkness was his companion.  I always rather liked that idea, and wanted to put it to paper.  In the dream, the raptor was a Jurassic Park-sized beast, and I was originally going to write it that way, but realized that this would be a lot funnier if the Doctor was a more accurate raptor.  Basically, imagine Capaldi as a grouch murder chicken in a comical little horned helmet.
******
The humidity hit Jack like a slap in the face as soon as he passed through the force field, causing his breath to hitch as he paused to adjust.  It was becoming easier, moving from the cool, dry TARDIS corridor that housed his bedroom, through the thin barrier protecting it from the main passageway’s extreme environment.  Jack followed, boots squelching in the loamy footing that lined the floor, and ducking under the drooping vines that grew thicker the closer he came to the TARDIS’s console room.
He pushed his way through a knot of trees that hadn’t existed on Earth for millions of years, grimacing as the air became hotter still, and scanned the arboretum that had sprung up when the Doctor had regenerated.
The miniature prehistoric jungle was beautiful, filled with blooming flowers and strange plants that thrived in the humid atmosphere.  They were clustered around an organic centerpiece: the console time-rotor, transformed into a magnificent piece of stone and crystal.
A loud screeching and growling erupted from the other side of the crystal edifice, and a moment later, a small, feathered creature hopped across the console, clawed feet flicking dials made of unclut gems as it made its way to the screen.
‘There you are, Doctor!’ Jack said, wading through the thick air to stand beside the creature.  He resisted the urge to hit any switches; the last time he’d tried, the Doctor had nearly taken off his finger.
Velociraptors were smaller than media would have one believe, Jack had discovered, but they were made of pure rage.  ‘Where have we landed this time?’
The little dinosaur was staring at the screen, the white feathers of his crest flaring and then flattening, and he hissed in displeasure.
‘That good, huh?’
The Doctor huffed, then hopped over to kick the lever to open the TARDIS door.  He then leapt off the console, feathers fluttering, and skittered across the floor.  Jack followed, stopping at the coat rack to grab his greatcoat.  Below him, on a much lower hook, the Doctor grabbed the gleaming silver horned helmet he’d taken to wearing and plunked it down over his crest.  He then screeched up at Jack, who bent down so the Doctor could spring up to the padded perch on his shoulder.
It was awkward; the Doctor was nearly six feet long, most of that his tail, and roughly the size of a turkey.  He also had the disposition of a swan, and would nip Jack’s ear if he thought the man was being particularly dense.
It made for a fun relationship.
‘Let’s see where you brought us today,’ Jack said, stepping through the doors with his most charming smile in place.
And was immediately shot by a searing beam that would have permanently killed another man.
Jack gasped back to life, hearing in one ear the Doctor’s angry squawks, and in the other, a very familiar ‘EXTERMINATE!’
‘Daleks? Really? You couldn’t have warned me?’  Jack climbed to his feet, brushing dirt off his greatcoat.
The Doctor just shrieked and sprang onto the closest Dalek’s eyestalk, biting and scrabbling ineffectively while the Dalek made confused noises.
‘Oh.  It’s going to be one of THESE days.’
Jack couldn’t wait until the Doctor regenerated and had a brain larger than a pea again.
*****
Sorry there’s no actual story.  This was just meant to be a quickie. And yes, I know raptors had brains larger than a pea.

Two Truths and a Lie, a multi-master (and doctor!) fic, wherein the Lumiat invites her younger selves out for a night of drinking and games, after which their respective Doctors come to collect them.
4.2k, mature, focused on the Master as well as their relationship with the Doctor.
