dear jjk writers, these are few things i'm seeing getting constantly misinterpreted:
sukuna is not a curse. sukuna was a human, a sorcerer back in the day, who turned himself into a cursed object.
Tumblr media
if he was a curse, he would be instantly killed by the very first hit of makora (so called mahoraga, another mistranslation, actually). sukuna also says it himself in s2x17.
2. sukuna is the name, ryomen is kind of a last name, but actually, more some sort of a title. ryomen (両面) means "two-faced". it's in no way a first name.
3. in japanese, the ways to affectionately nickname another person slightly differ from the western languages. adding honorifics is one of the most popular ones (adding -san,-kun,-chan etc.). moreover, usage of last name is more frequent, so you'll probably hear go-chan (gojo + -chan) more often than plain 'satoru' (unless you're very close) or 'toru' (more on that later). another one is combining first name and last name to create a nickname (for a very rough example: nanami kento -> nanaken). shortening the name also works (with names like 'kento' (建人), 'yuuji' (悠仁), even tho ken-chan or yuu-chan are far more common). but with names like 'megumi' (恵) or 'satoru' (悟) you can't really chop off anything since in japanese language it's already just one kanji. 'toru' in this exact case is entirely different name. (same thing with geto suguru: his first name, 'suguru' (傑), consists only of one kanji.) (actually, they're a good example of what being on first name basis in japan is like. they were very close and not once gojo called geto 'sugu' or geto called him 'toru'. nothing to shorten here.)
please, correct me if i'm wrong, but these are few things that are just so common, that sometimes i'm questioning my own sanity.

Its so hard being a black women who likes fanfiction. Like there is just still so little representation. Even when things are “reader” they are coded for white people.
No one is running their fingers through my silky hair. Or brushing hair out of my eyes behind my ear. I have an afro and when I dont its in twists. Also, black women dont really let people touch or play in their hair.
I dont have pink nipples.
I dont blush. My skin will not turn red no matter how hard Im blushing.
Now I thought it was hard in the Peaky Fandom. But there are some amazing black fic writers here and likely more have emerged since I havent been active in the fandom for a few years.
Trying to read Kpop fan fiction, its even harder to find representation.
If you are in any of the fandoms below, please comment or reblog with your fave black fanfic writers.

thinking about how Humans Are Space Orcs stories always talk about how indestructible humans are, our endurance, our ability to withstand common poisons, etc. and thats all well and good, its really fun to read, but it gets repetitive after a while because we aren't all like that.
And that got me thinking about why this trope is so common in the first place, and the conclusion I came to is actually kind of obvious if you think about it. Not everyone is allowed to go into space. This is true now, with the number of physical restrictions placed on astronauts (including height limits), but I imagine it's just as strict in some imaginary future where humans are first coming into contact with alien species. Because in that case there will definitely be military personnel alongside any possible diplomatic parties.
And I imagine that all interactions aliens have ever had up until this point have been with trained personnel. Even basic military troops conform to this standard, to some degree. So aliens meet us and they're shocked and horrified to discover that we have no obvious weaknesses, we're all either crazy smart or crazy strong (still always a little crazy, academia and war will do that to you), and not only that but we like, literally all the same height so there's no way to tell any of us apart.
And Humans Are Death Worlders stories spread throughout the galaxy. Years or decades or centuries of interspecies suspicion and hostilities preventing any alien from setting foot/claw/limb/appendage/etc. on Earth until slowly more beings are allowed to come through. And not just diplomats who keep to government buildings, but tourists. Exchange students. Temporary visitors granted permission to go wherever they please, so they go out in search of 'real terran culture' and what do they find?
Humans with innate heart defects that prevent them from drinking caffeine. Humans with chronic pain and chronic fatigue who lack the boundless endurance humans are supposedly famous for. Humans too tall or too short or too fat to be allowed into space. Humans who are so scared of the world they need to take pills just to function. Humans with IBS who can't stand spicy foods, capsaicin really is poison to them. Lactose intolerance and celiac disease, my god all the autoimmune disorders out there, humans who struggle to function because their own bodies fight them. Humans who bruise easily and take too long to heal. Humans who sustained one too many concussions and now struggle to talk and read and write. Humans who've had strokes. Humans who were born unable to talk or hear or speak, and humans who through some accident lost that ability later.
Aliens visit Earth, and do you know what they find? Humanity, in all its wholeness.

If I see this set off dialogue one more time I'm going to fucking lose my mind.
'can I kiss you?'
'please'
STOP IT. Get some help. Or some better dialogue at least. I get what you're going for, but it's boring!!! I wanna see a 'fuck yeah' or a 'you better' or SOMETHING. Give me some personality other than an 'uwu yes please'. Gimme a 'huh?' because the kissie wasn't listening, too busy looking at the kissers LIPS. Ok can't think of a hundred better responses to that then just a basic 'please'. Hell, I'll take a 'no' every once in awhile just to spice it up.

Personal pet peeve: When a particular character has a lot of paperwork and such associated with their job and it has been established in universe that the work is extremely hard, complicated, and tedious but then in fanfic another character in another job position takes up this character's paperwork and does it perfectly. That's not how this works. That's not how any of this works.
Paperwork is not some nebulous pile of papers so easy that anyone can just waltz in and fill it up just like that. Paperwork, especially for large organisations, requires specific training and knowledge. A particular situation might have at least ten forms associated with it depending on how it happened, when it happened, who were involved, who were affected, who filed the initial report etc. It could be form A.1, it could be form B8, it could be G3 or D-3.2e, and then it has to be filed away in a specific way under a specific designation. At times it could be completely nonsensical but still necessary and part of proper procedure....all of that requires training and experience. Someone from a totally unconnected role can't just take over this position and do an excellent job at it, unless it has been previously established that they too had prior training and guidance in this.
Example: Cale(KRS) and Basen Henituse in Trash of the Count's Family. Kim Rok Soo before trasmigration into Cale Henituse was a team leader who has experience with important official documentation and paperwork for the Company. Basen Henituse is established to have been send to territory heirship classes and doing well in them. These two people being able to take on the other's paperwork load is not at all farfetched. (Same with Cale and Alberu though the latter would still have to sign and seal his insignia separately in the end.)
So no someone who's untrained can't just take someone else's paperwork and just breeze through them unless they are like supernaturally intelligent to the point of figuratively downloading all the necessary data and information directly into their brain or something.
Let's not even talk about how the character might have a particular way and organisation of doing things and someone else taking over their workload without permission might just mess that order up and their well intended actions might end up doing more harm than good.
Look at MXTX's Shang Qinghua or Ling Wen. As I'm reading SVSSS right now let's take it as an example.
Someone who can conduct and lead an audit: Shang Qinghua, specifically trained as an auditor. Yue Qingyuan- can possibly fill in for a specific kind of audit.
Someone who cannot conduct an audit: Literally every other Peak Lord on Cang Qiong. Not trained for it. Should not be in charge of it.
Someone who can file in medical paperwork: Mu Qingfang, head of medical operations in the sect.
Someone who can't do that: his Peak Lord colleagues. At most they'll be able to file in incident reports and other such forms that guardians of patients will have to fill in at a hospital.
People involved with merchants and associated business transactions: Shang Qinghua(logistics expert-procurement logistics), and for large contracts, Yue Qingyuan(Sect Leader). Other Peak Lords depending on the goods. For example the Zui Xian Peak Lord when they are negotiating prices for the raw materials or equipment for alcohol brewing or Wei Qingwei when they are sourcing metal.
Someone who can handle annual budgeting: Shang Qinghua. Person who allocates the funds according to the final budget- Yue Qingyuan.
Persons who can't do that: His colleagues who are definitely not trained in finances and accounting.
And so on and so on.
Shang Qinghua was invited back to the sect after literal treason because nobody else could do his job. That should tell you that people without specific training can't just take over the paperwork of another person's job unless their own jobs are connected enough to be sufficiently similar that they can handle it.
So no someone like Shen Qingqiu who's a scholar and tactician primarily, can't take the entirety of Shang Qinghua's or Mu Qingfang's or Yue Qingyuan's paperwork and fill it in for them, no matter how intelligent he is. Though I'm sure Yue Qingyuan would let him sect be damned lmao.
You see things like this in many other fandoms as well. Innocuous forms that anyone can fill in are okay but complicated paperwork for auditing, budgeting, logistics, diplomacy, business transactions, internal affairs, etc? No way. That all takes time to familiarize with before even properly filing them let alone actually doing them.
This is of course a personal pet peeve as I mentioned from the beginning. People are free to write what they want, read what they want, like what they want. This is no way an accusation towards particular individuals. It's just that for me it breaks immersion pretty quickly.

IM SO FUCKING TIRED OF PEOPLE CALLING L’S LIPS SUGARY OR SWEET IN FANFICTION. IT FUCKING ISNT.
NEWSFLASH BUDDY, THERE’S AN EMZYME IN YOUR SALIVA THAT IS CALLED AMYLASE (there’s also lipase for proteins but this isnt about that) THAT BREAKS DOWN STARCH AND CARBOHYDRATES INTO SUGARS TO MAKE DIGESTION EASIER!! THERE IS BACTERIA IN YOUR MOUTH THAT FEASTS ON THESE SUGARS, THAT MAKES YOUR MOUTH SOUR!!!!
L wouldnt fucking have a sweet kissable mouth because all of the sugar he eats will feed those bacteria which causes more sourness which makes his mouth very very sour. The only times where your mouth would taste something, would be when you drink coffee or any potent drink/food where the smell lingers on your body which your nose inhales when you’re kissing your partner that makes your brain think that they taste of coffee/any other potent drink. Cake and other sweets arent very potent, so L wouldnt taste of cake either. Also, before anyone says this, sure if your mouth actively contains sugar (like solid sugars) then the kiss would taste sweet just like how when you kiss someone with food in their mouth you’d also taste it. But i dont think that L somehow has sugar in his mouth 24/7. I always see in fanfiction where they describe his kisses as ‘sweet’ or ‘tastes of cake’ when that wouldnt make any fucking sense!!! I learnt this all in year 7, so this should be really really common knowledge but somehow people still write it differently?? Then again its not that big of a deal and that im overreacting but whatever let me be mad for once

Ya know another fanfic idea that would probably be really funny and petty to Write?
A 12/Rise crossover where instead of being thinly vieled gushing about how "OP" the Rise Turtles are with their Ninpo, its the Rise Turtles being completely unable to keep up with the 2012 Turtles superior Stealth Skills.
Like the Rise boys keep trying to draw the 2012 fam into a straitforward fight and the 2012 fam just keep ignoring them and disappearing on them cause theyre focused on their mission, have encountered dimension counterparts before and therefore arent curious, and do not have time to babysit these rowdy younger versions of themselves.
And the Rise boys are out of their depth cause their used to Direct confrontation and Enemies who are more spontaneous jerks than careful planners.
They can barely even get a good look at their counterparts. It might even take them awhile to realize the 2012 boys are them from another dimension and not just random turtle yokai making trouble.
And knowing the rise boys, when they do catch up its in a way that makes the 2012 boys pissed at them cause they interupt a crucial part of the mission.

Lovebirds
Pairings: Sebastian x F!Reader
Summary: You almost miss curfew (again) coming back from a study session with Sebastian. The gentleman he is, he walks you back to your common room and his feelings for you accidentally slip out.
Warnings: kissing, fluff
Word Count: 1.1k
A/N: For some reason I just really love the idea of Ominis being the disgruntled mother of the friend group having to deal with you and Sebastian’s shit. Mommy Omi.
Not gonna lie this one put me in my feels.
I intentionally didn’t specify a certain House in this oneshot. It probably doesn’t work as well if you’re in Slytherin, but then maybe just imagine Sebastian is walking you to the girls side😉
The rosiness of Sebastian’s freckled cheeks reminds you of the wintery dusk settling behind you, backlighting Hogsmeade and the snow-covered wilderness. A cold wind cuts through your school cloaks and, without thinking, you lean closer into Sebastian’s side as you both laugh. Naturally, his arm falls around your shoulders, and you walk like that into the castle.
“Well, it’s about time,” came Ominis’s cutting voice. “I thought I was going to have to send out a search party.”
Ominis emerges from the shadows.
“Ominis.” Sebastian presses a hand to his chest. “Were you worried about us?“
“Be still my heart,” you say, pretending to swoon.
Ominis clicks his tongue. “I was more worried that I would have to venture out at an untimely hour to drag you back. Who knows what shenanigans you two get up to, I should never leave you alone.”
The three of you scurry up the grand staircase.
“We asked you to come with,” Sebastian points out. His arm leaves your shoulders, and there’s a twinge of disappointment in your chest.
“Well, I don’t need to study last minute,” Ominis declares hauntily.
Sebastian rolls his eyes.
“No studying actually happened,” you say. “Your integrity would’ve remained intact.”
Ominis scoffs, and you and Sebastian snicker in response.
You did have all of the intentions to study for Potions. But once you picked up the necessary ingredients from The Magic Neep for practice, the sun began to sink and a chill set in, and you shuffled into The Three Broomsticks together. Sinora ended up plying you with new variations of Butterbeer she was experimenting with, and Potions quickly fell to the wayside.
You actually had been laughing earlier because Sebastian had a smudge of foam on his upper lip, and he playfully nipped at your thumb when you went to swipe it away.
“I’m not spending another detention with the likes of you two,” Ominis says. There’s a curl of affectionate amusement in his voice. “We ought to get to the common room before someone catches us.”
Sebastian says, “Go on without me, Omi.”
“Are you not coming?”
“I’m going to drop off my fellow delinquent here,” Sebastian tells him. “Make sure that she doesn’t run into anymore trouble without me.”
“I’m fine, Sebastian,” you say.
“Well what kind of gentleman would I be if I let you go alone? All kinds of frightful things traverse these hallowed halls.”
You tap the side of your chin. “I can’t remember, was it you or me who won our duel?”
“I was going easy on you,” Sebastian chides. “You know, being a gentleman and all.”
Ominis waves a hand. “I’m leaving, I don’t have the energy to discuss this duel again. Goodnight, Y/N. Don’t lose your way, Sebastian, I don’t want to hear you bumbling your way into the room again.”
Sebastian and you watch Ominis’s retreating form, and the crimson glow of his wand.
“He loves us,” he says.
“How could be not?”
Your conversation lulls into comfortable silence. Even with your history of banter, you also enjoyed the moments when you weren’t talking, just walking together in your companionship.
The last handful of students were rushing by. Shadows had begun to stretch and take form on the tiled floors.
Finally you approach the entrance to your common room, and you’re reluctant to leave Sebastian. You turn to him, hoping to steal just a few more seconds.
“Tomorrow’s Potions class should be interesting,” you say.
Sebastian shrugs. “We’ll be fine as long as we don’t sit by Garreth again. Class might be a touch boring, but much less explosive.”
“I had a good day with you,” you blurt. Your desire to elongate these late fleeting moments backfires, and you feel your cheeks burn. Did you really just say that?
“I did too,” Sebastian says, softly, and gratefully without a stitch of taunting in his voice.
You mutter the password and the entrance opens. You step inside, one foot in and one foot out. “I guess this is goodbye.”
“Yep.”
“I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Yep.”
“Sleep tight,” you add. You haven’t budged.
Sebastian smiles. Casually, he says, “Goodnight, Y/N. I love you.”
His face spasms, and for the first time you think you see a light dusting of color cover his cheeks. You freeze, then, invigorated, say, “You love me?”
“Well, um, yeah,” Sebastian awkwardly replies. He coughs a little. “You know we were just talking about how Ominis loves us and perhaps my mind was still there. I didn’t mean anything by —”
You climb down and interrupt Sebastian’s nervous rambles by grabbing the front of his robes. He blinks at you in rapid succession, mouth ajar, obviously still fumbling for an appropriate response to accidentally confessing his love for you.
“I love you too, Sebastian,” you tell him.
You’re not sure who kisses who first, but soon he’s captured you with his mouth, pressing it firmly against yours. Faintly you taste the trace of Butterbeer, which makes you smile. In response Sebastian moans softly and then draws you in closer, deepening the kiss. Your fingers slip into his hair. This moment is everything that you’ve wanted and more and —
“OOO KISSY KISSY!”
A familiar blur of color soars overhead. Instantly, Sebastian and you tear apart, slightly out of breath and pink-cheeked.
Peeves circles back around and makes a face. He sings:
“What do we have here?
A pair of lovebirds
Caught in the act, oh dear
Kissing like they have no fear!”
He cackles, high pitched and splitting, the sound ringing through the halls.
“Oh, bugger off, Peeves,” Sebastian snaps. “I’ve had enough of you.”
“Caught red handed, in this moment of bliss
A moment like this they surely won’t miss
But it’s not a secret, they can’t dismiss,” Peeves continues to bellow, laughing devilishly.
You grab Sebastian’s arm. “Don’t bother giving him the time of day. He won’t quit.”
Sebastian looks back at you, and his face softens.
He sighs. “I’m afraid you’re right.”
“I tend to be quite often, yet people are always surprised.”
Sebastian chuckles, then pulls you in for a hug. Your cheek ends up in the crook of his neck, and the feel of him is so warm and safe and good. Peeves resumes his mocking but you both ignore it, and in good time he leaves to wreck havoc elsewhere.
“Told you,” you say.
“Say it again.”
You raise a brow. “Told you?”
He smiles again, and rolls his eyes. “No, what you said before. I want to hear it again.”
You rack your brain, then realize what he means. Your heart pounds. Mirroring his smile, you lean in and whisper, “I love you, Sebastian.”

Is it just me or is there an influx of people/authors who write x reader fics but seem to hate it?
Like here me out, the I've seen way more fanfic where in the warnings is something like "this is technically an x reader fic but reader is only referred to with a nickname throughout the story." or "This is an x reader fic but there is not use of Y/n."
I'm a little bit more okay with the second one but like, come on, the whole point of x reader fics is the ability to insert yourself into the story, the name is like the most important thing.
I think this is because the conversation around self inserts/x reader fics has kinda negative. Like most people just assume that it's weird even though most fanfic is self-insert to a point, whether you know it or not. It doesn't help that even though cringe culture is pretty dead here on Tumblr, there is still a large amount of people who feel the need to make fun of people who either read or write x reader fanfic.
Like if you want to write for an oc/self insert that's fine, but please don't tag it as x reader if it isn't. Yes, this does include if the reader doesn't have an explicit description but is given a nickname. Yes, this does include if the reader is given a description but not a name. Yes, this does include if you're only tagging it as x reader because you want more interactions. It's annoying, and it's just going to get you blocked rather than interacted with.
I don't know if I'm the only one whose been experiencing it, so maybe it's just all in my head, but if any of you have experienced please let me know so I know I'm not crazy.

IDK man,
does it just kinda put anyone else off when a piece has a giant "IF YOU ARE ___ ALIGNED DO NOT INTERACT" ? Obviously, a writer is entitled completely to their piece and who has access to it, -- but it sometimes just comes off as really hostile. As a man myself, I completely understand how infuriating the lack of m!reader fics is and i'll continue to cry on that hill until the day I die >:(
Still, seeing those few gorgeous m!writers having big 'NO FEM!ALIGNED ALLOWED!!!' signs just make me sad, -- it's not the readers' fault most x reader fics are predominately fem aligned, and it just really only seems to serve to further widen the already big gap between the two kinds of readers-- which is NOT needed. Personally, even if it they aren't the intended audience, -- yet they still wanna read even knowing your work doesn't cater anything to them, -- then I believe people should be able to enjoy every piece of fiction. It always makes me so happy when I get a variety of genders (fem + m + other) enjoying my m! works, knowing that my writing was enough to outweigh the fact that the piece objectively didn't serve any purpose to them as non m! readers.
Goes both ways too, fem! reader fics barring m! aligned readers from reading is the exact same.
I'm a firm believer in creative reading freedom, - if a fem identifying / non-binary reader wants to pretend they have a massive dick, or even just a strap-on, -- then that's fucking awesome, go for them. Normalize people of all groups experimenting and enjoying varied pieces of literature.
And fellow m readers? I see you my brothers and I will continue amping up production of x m!reader fics 😈😈😈 🫶🫶🫶

here's my problem since some people want to ignore genuine criticism and act like anyone who is criticizing the writing or the pacing is "not accepting things we accepted in s1" by comparing this to doomcoming
doomcoming is. i cannot stress it enough. an episode where the characters are drugged and high on shrooms. when they chase travis and when they nearly kill him we are SHOWN they see a stag
now yes you can compare their doomcoming hallucinations to the hallucinations of it chooses but even the framing isn't really on your side here is it? when the show wants you to doubt to what extent they're really even aware of what they're doing or the level of.. delusion present it has absolutely no problem showing you that! we saw them having an ancient greek feast while ripping apart jackie's body and we saw too many near death hallucinations and other hallucinations to even COUNT on one hand
so they're aware of what they're doing when they draw the cards. while they were shown to NOT BE during doomcoming at least while it happened. and now the question is do you think we have reached that point? if you do i'm happy for you genuinely. i wish i agreed. but i just do not. when they agreed to do this they agreed to not only potentially get themselves killed they also agreed to the death of their loved ones if they draw the card. why was van shown doubting everything she believed in (including lottie that goes without saying) in the previous ep and now willing to get herself or taissa killed for a ritual meant to save lottie? and don't Tell me what you think. i am capable of making up an explanation. i can come up with a bunch of theories. but there is No exploration of that in the actual show. why was taissa fine with this? why was nat? do i think those characters are all such lottie believers they'd go to those lengths? no not really cause all they were really doing before was having dbt group therapy with lottie and then lottie proceeded to fail in all her predictions about the baby
there were absolutely ways to make this more believable (like! maybe show nat and travis get injured while trying to hunt and they start thinking it's because lottie isn't blessing them before they leave anymore. show everyone lost without someone to look up to. put more focus on how hungry they are. maybe use some makeup to make them look more malnourished. show taissa's actual sleepwalking come back - and yes i know there was that one other taissa scene but it wasn't quite enough for me to buy that tai would be all for this. unless they're pulling another Other Tai Did This surprise but it's getting a little old imo) but they rushed through it in a way super jarring. and no it shouldn't be! yes it should still be shocking but we START the show with those murder cannibalism rituals. we watch the show to find out how it happened exactly. every single viewer should be watching this feeling overwhelming dread because it FEELS inevitable that they'll decide to do this. we should be quite horrified but we should also be 100% convinced that's the choice all those characters would make. this scene is what all those 18 episodes led to and regardless of whether someone liked it or not the overwhelming majority seemed to be shocked this happened already. which. quite literally means the build up wasn't there

Hello! So this is not quite an ask but THANK YOU for doing god's work of injecting some actual nuance, defending bolin (among other things), critiquing the comics, and all the plot holes/things that just don't make sense which become glaringly obvious if one thinks about any aspect for more than two seconds (lol but you know this already duh) and am only annoyed I did not stumble upon this blog sooner, since I am so done with this show (but also I keeping at it like the scabs). Also, your art is delightful! If you still require an ask, do you perchance write fanfic? (it's possible you might have mentioned it but sometimes I can't read lol)
Have a good day!
hello, and thank you! also it’s funny that defending bolin is the first thing you list because I thought I made it pretty clear that I think his character is direly poorly-written and that I do not care for him. but… you’re welcome I guess? but yes obviously critiquing the comics and imbuing nuance and all of that I will definitely gladly take credit for. and thank you for liking my art! i do occasionally write fanfic, but i’ve only ever shown it to my friends and never actually posted it anywhere, so functionally, my answer would be no. i have debated posting it in the past, but idk, i don’t think that would be a good idea. maybe someday i’ll snap tho who knows.
as for your other ask…
Also because I clicked on the ask button before I had a brain fart (so if this would come off a bit deranged for posting an ask right after the first my apologies), I also want to mention the commentary that Iroh being 'everyone's favourite sexist' is gold because we just gloss over that and no one ever seems to mention that scene. Another thing about atla is that the reason given for Zuko's constant internal struggle and conflict is because he's descended from the previous avatar and the fire lord but hello, Azula?? Did Ursa have an affair now?? Isn't she just as worthy of redemption, or the fact she's just as abused anyhoo ok im done
I mean I’m assuming by “that scene” you mean the one with june, but tbh his misogyny isn’t relegated to simply one unpalatable scene. it’s reflected in how he treats azula (versus zuko) across the show. and I know that zuko is softer and more amenable than azula, and he has demonstrated a desire to do good that azula hasn’t, but it’s also quite troubling that iroh just writes off his fourteen year old niece as a lost cause when she is also the sibling who most resembles him. and he somehow just can’t seem to understand that she is worthy of the same empathy and compassion and understanding as zuko is, that playing favorites like this isn’t good or normal. and I actually think that azula has it way worse than iroh, both because she’s a girl and because azulon seemed to love iroh conditionally (despite clearly not feeling the same about ozai), whereas ozai’s love for azula is incredibly conditional and does not exempt her from his violence. but you know. her hysterical wandering womb is outta control she needs to go down she cant be trusted she’s a sickopath!!!! like. ok old man.
as for your next point, I do think that what iroh says about zuko’s ancestry reflecting the ideological battle within him is fully bullshit, but I do reconcile that by interpreting iroh’s claims not as what he truly believes, but as a rhetorical point he thinks might get through to zuko. because he’s really run the gamut of wisdom and guidance, some of it even being contradictory, just in an attempt to pierce through zuko’s thick, stubborn skull. and it does pay off, eventually, but it takes ages to get there. like how much do you wanna bet his first approach was to just straight up be like “your father is an abuser and you shouldn’t adhere to his dogmas.” and then when that didn’t work he started getting creative with it. and like, the reason it gets through to zuko isn’t even because roku was his great grandfather, but because he was ursa’s grandfather. and realizing that he too can be good and stand up for what he believes in, like her, his true role model, is his ultimate takeaway from that lesson. but I really do think by that point iroh’s rhetorical strategy was really to just throw vaguely pertinent metaphors at the wall to see what sticks.

I am frankly baffled by the lack of canon interactions between Jason and Damian. Thank god fandom has way more of them and actually does analyze their potential for a bond, because they have so many parallel themes.
Both of them are the closest to being Bruce’s actual children, all other Robin’s and mentees are in a bit of a limbo position between sidekick, partner and child, but with Jason and Damian the parental-child relationship to Bruce has been made explicit. Both have a significant relationship towards Talia as well (even though DC canon also totally sleeps on Jason and Talia’s relationship.) They both have marginalized backgrounds, Jason coming from poverty an Damian with a chinese/arab background on Talia’s side and being raised partially with cultural ideals that Bruce, as a representation of the west, rejects and attempts to correct him on.
Both Damian and Jason have to deal with Bruce’s rejection of them and Bruce’s expectations of obedience. They are both blamed and held accountable for bad behaviour without understanding of external factors of abuse to their integrity and childhood. The victim-blaming/gaslighting they endure from the narrative should be such a strong ground for them to bond over.
While I can’t imagine either that they would get on without disagreements, they should by all means have far more understanding and sympath for each other’s position than DC will write them as.

Is it time to bitch more about rise favoritism in tmnt crossovers? I think it is.
This ones a bit stickier and maybe at this point its just personal bitterness but im really at the poijnt where i cant stand any interpretation where the other versions of the turtles are made to feel like them, their families and their lives are lesser and inferior to the rise turtles.
Like... ok i can definitely accept Many other versions being jealous of Rise having the hidden city to run around in and feel normal. Thats valid, tho many other versions of the turtles have their own networks of friends and allies and very real community. The 2003 boys have friends across the city, other planets and other dimensions. They regullarly hang out with new yorks homeless population. Theyre among the most social versions of the turtles aside from rise.
Im just sick of the narrative that Rise are the only version of the turtles that are happy and fullfilled with their lives. And that all other versions are miserable and unfun. Its anotjer thing that makes it feel like the authors of many crossovers either strait up dont watch the non rise shows they put in their crossovers or watch them with extreme blinders on being upset its not more of Rise.
Its a disservice to both Rise being a fresh take on the franchise and the legacy that allowed rise to exist to keep treating past series like this please STOP IT.
