I'm working on dark fantsy\middlepunk RPG project called Distortion, it's supposed to be released in the early access somewhere in 2025.  g-a-p.games/ The smithy was especially fun one to make as it required to do a deepdive into Medieval forgery in a very short term. Hello there!

Here's my new buddy, new creature concept. Bloom, this is a very small creature that looks a bit like a flower, but unlike them, it can move, jump, but is afraid of fire and larger animals. I made this little thing because as you know I'm trying to draw more monster concepts to feel better with them. And I feel good with drawing them! I like this freedom when I create them.

Werewolf concept

Not by a curse or a magic power. But by convergent evolution. Ancient canids somehow managing to convergently evolve into a shape similar to a human with an intelligence of one

They still have tails, strong jaws, fur and ears of a canine. Their limbs have odd proportions and their hands and feet are heavily padded. Carnivores leaning to the side of omnivory. And their tongues aren't made to speak human language, yet they still speak it.

To fit into society, werewolves cut off their tails and ears, pluck out their fur and dull out their teeth. They wear baggy clothes to hide the true length of their limbs and do jobs that leave a human with callouses

“how do people produce food, and how have they been coping with food scarcity?”

Many places, settlements, or individual people do not have a consistent food source lined up for themselves after the calamity.

There are two main ways that people will gather up food for themselves. One is scavenging. The other is beginning and cultivating their own gardens. The former tends to be the most popular among individuals without a community to band together with. Many travel from place to place, trying to find a safe place to spend the night, and looking for anywhere that isn't barren of all signs of human life. They raid grocery stores and the remains of peoples home, looking for canned and boxed foods they can subsist off of. It’s not the most nutritional, but hardly anyone is focused on nutrition when they’ve got to worry about consuming enough calories to survive.

  It hasn’t even been a year yet, and food takes a long time to grow. And the sheer amount of time it takes to grow aside, its hard to keep up with the amount of cultivation a garden often needs. In small communities they struggle to find people who are knowledgeable enough about gardening to dedicate their time to it. On top of that is the question of where to put the garden, how much they can grow, and if crops are still safe to eat. In the beginning months many died due to starvation, and many still do. There are a few colonies that have cultivated a semi-sustainable food source. These people are the ones who acted quickly and decisively, and still got lucky with their available soil, and the quick growing crops they had available. One in the cracked plains has been subsisting mostly off plants that grow their edible section beneath the ground, like potatoes or carrots. This is thanks to their community greenhouse pre-calamity, the similarity of the soils characteristics post-calamity, and their handful of experienced hobbyist gardeners. All these elements make it one of the most thriving communities still surviving.

Other places are not so lucky. Some rivers have dried up, others have flooded completely. Sometimes the soils makeup has changed completely and almost nothing will grow. In some places the dirt is so acidic it eats away at living things, leaving a rash and possible scarring on humans, and renders most know produce unable to grow. There are solutions, but they’re not ones that can be discovered in the few months that this new world has existed. It will take years, perhaps even decades to discover new and edible food this world has to offer. Plants that can grow in strange habitats, under even the harshest conditions. Progress takes time, and many will not live to see it. (Question inspired from @wbqotd)

i don’t remember where i originally saw this concept but

necromancers that can raise the dead but doing so has buffs like experiencing a hangover.

so a necromancer raising the dead and dealing with poison from decay or taking on effects of how the person they revived died. I.E. if they died in a fire necromancer coughs up dark smoke from the polluted air and feels the flames burn their skin. if they drowned coughing up water and their temperature plummets.

i really liked the way it was worded and it got me into the use of necromancy in fantasy settings and i’m super frustrated that i can’t find it anywhere.

I have been thinking about how elves in my setting could communicate (in addition to verbal speech) with their ear movement/position, which can show emotion or tone, even if the elven person is deaf or mute.

Instantly, I started imagining a really excited elf with their ears going crazy like hummingbird's wings :D

But also all the hat designs that cover the ears for warmth, but keep the ability to move them, as elves see that communication method really important. Especially if their voices usually sound really dreamy and neutral, making other races a bit confused while trying to understand elven emotions.
