Worth Every Bit
Tumblr media
A/N: a bit different from my usual posts, but I had this idea a while back and I just had to write it.
“Y/N, are you still out there,” your father yells from the back porch, his voice echoing through the forest.
“I’m almost done,” you yell back, adding the last of the lephria leaves to your basket. “I’m on my way back!”
Tonight is a full moon, so as your village’s only herbologist, you know that herbs gathered right now will be more effective than at any other time. And with so many of your fellow villagers being elderly, it’s important to have the best ingredients on hand should anything happen. Fall is coming to an end and soon the temperature will being to drop, meaning people will get sicker a lot more easily, so now it’s important to be able to brew potions as quickly as possible.
“Got everything you needed,” he asks as you walk towards him.
“Of course,” you beam, holding up your basket full of gathered herbs.
He smiles and pats you on the head, your omega instincts sponging up the attention. Of course, your father worries about you since you just so happen to be a male omega, a rare subspecies of human; omegas used to make up 10% of the realm, but after the Great War nearly a century ago, the omega population was reduced to less than 5%, and male omegas are less than 1% of that, so he’s constantly on guard. Your mother left not long after you were born, so you’re the only family the poor beta has.
“Let’s head to the tavern,” he says, motioning to said tavern. “I think the feast should be ready by now.”
The village always celebrates the end of fall with a big feast with music, games, and drinking; everyone gathers inside the tavern and goes home a few hours before the sun rises.
“Alright,” you say, excited to eat the mayor’s signature roasted boar.
Just then, the warning bell is rung, its chime telling everyone that something potentially dangerous is approaching.
“It’s a Tribal carriage,” the guard shouts from his watchtower. “It’s a Tribal carriage!”
And just like that, the air went stiff and a sense of dread entered your body, as it no doubt did to your father and everyone else in the village. The Tribe is the largest and most powerful kingdom in all of Arcadia; what started as just a small band of barbarians evolved into a vast kingdom that, under its current chief, everyone fears and no one dares challenge. For them to be here, a village on the edge of nowhere with no strategic value whatsoever, only makes this all the more scarier.
“Get in the house,” your father orders, forcing you inside the house before shutting the door and running around to meet everyone else at the main gate.
You run around to the front of the house where a window gives you a perfect view of the village entrance, where all the men have gathered, ready to defend their home should it come to it. Not that it would do any good, the Tribe is known throughout the realm for its strong and fearsome warriors who seem to lust for battle and blood; even if the carriage carries a single warrior, he would be more than enough to conquer the village and everyone in it… if there was any survivors.
Finally, after what seemed to be an eternity, the carriage pulls into the village and comes to a halt just at the crowd. Two identical men jump down from the carriage and you instantly know who they are: the cousins and personal guards to the Tribal Chief himself, Jimmy and Jey Uso, known as the Twin Terrors. They’re known for being a deadly duo capable of fighting over a dozen men and coming out on top, fighting in perfect unison that many have thought they can read each other’s minds; they’re also known for being beside their cousin at all times, unless he’s sent them on a mission that requires professionals. From your spot, you can see they’re alphas; their sleeveless leather armor reveal the signature tattoos on their muscular arms and the hardened expressions they have show they’re here on a mission and won’t tolerate any interference.
Just what are they here to do?
Jimmy opens the door and out steps a bald man that you instantly identify by the very expensive and gaudy robes he’s dressed in: Paul Heyman, the Wise Man to the Tribal Chief and ambassador of the Tribe; he’s known for not only advising the Chief on running the Tribe, but also carrying out anything that requires shrewd negotiations. With three key members of the Tribe here in your isolated village, the mystery only grows. Just what could they want?
Then, the twins stand side by side on one side of the door and Paul stands on the other and the last occupant of the wagon steps down, and as he does, you feel your blood go cold and your heart skip a beat. In wolf pelt armor and a massive battle axe on his back stands the infamous Tribal Chief and Head of the Table, Roman Reigns. If Jimmy and Jey are alphas, then Roman is the apex of alphas as his muscular body looks like he crushes boulders as a hobby and wrestles bears for fun; his long hair and signature tattoo stretching from his right arm to the right side of his torso only adds to his fearsome appearance. As you look, you notice his last signature item: a gold gauntlet covered in blood; legend has it that a punch from it is capable of knocking any man down and leaves him unable to get back up.
As he looks around the village, you feel the atmosphere completely change for the worse. The Tribal Chief never leaves his castle unless he’s leading his men into battle to conquer another enemy. And right now, that seems to be the case.
“We welcome you, Tribal Chief, to Aster Village,” the mayor speaks, clearly trying to keep himself from shaking. “I am Alador Finnigan, the mayor of this fine village. To what do we owe this honor?”
“The Tribal Chief has come to make a deal,” Paul Heyman responds, his voice overflowing with the pompousness he’s known for. He turns to the twins who have pulled a massive chest made of silver and gold from the back of the carriage and place it next to the man’s feet. Paul opens it and reveals the massive pile of gold and platinum coins, gems the size of your fist, and jewelry of all types inside. Your eyes widen and all the men gasp at the massive amount of treasure. “The Tribal Chief is willing to give you all that you see here in exchange for the male omega that lives in this village.”
Once again, your heart stops. The Tribal Chief, the most feared man in the entire realm, is here for you?
“That’s my son you’re talking about,” your father grows, stepping forward, his knife drawn.
“You’re the omega’s father,” the Wise Man asks, though it sounds more like a statement than a question. “When the Tribal Chief had learned that a male omega, unclaimed and unpromised to an alpha, living in this isolated village, he knew he just had to have him. And, he’s willing to offer you all that you see here in exchange for him. Of course, for such a rare treasure, he’s agreed to offer you more.”
“My son isn’t livestock to be bought! Especially to some bastard who’s just going to use him for breeding!”
It’s then the Tribal Chief takes a step forward and if looks could kill, your father would be a pile of ashes from the look he was getting from the Tribal Chief.
“I understand you’re protective of your son, who many would kill to claim him, but you will show the proper respect for me, beta,” the man growls, making you shiver. “I’ll let this go, but talk about me like that again, and I’ll take your tongue.”
“My Tribal Chief,” Paul Heyman chimes in, getting between the two men. “I’m sure he meant no disrespect, it was just a spur of the moment. If we weren’t negotiating for his son, he would be acknowledging you.”
This seemed to placate the man, who took a step back and nodded, signaling to resume the negotiations.
“Sir, I can assure you that your son will not be used solely for breeding. The Tribal Chief has the purest of intentions with your son; he intends to take your son as his mate, and he will be treated with the highest respect. As you know, male omegas are highly coveted, so being the male omega to the Tribal Chief will earn him a place of honor at the table.”
“I don’t care if he replaces your Tribal Chief as the Head of the Table, he’s my son and he’s staying here.”
A blind man could see the look of fury on Roman’s face; he’s known for always getting what he wants and what he wants is you, and he’s not taking no for an answer.
“Sir, everyone has a price, and the Tribe has amassed treasure from all over the realm,” the Wise Man chimes in, clearly nervous at how the negotiations are going. “Just name whatever you desire, and I’m sure we can meet it.”
“We’re not haggling over the price of a set of armor, asshole! We’re talking about my son and as long as I breathe, he’ll never be yours!”
In that moment, you make up your mind. The Tribe’s reputation is known to all, and that reputation says they’re going to get tired of arguing and eventually resort to violence, which will result in the death of your father and probably the village. You throw open the door and approach the crowd.
“If you want me so bad, you should be talking to me,” you say, trying your best to sound confident, but at best, you keep your voice from cracking.
At once, all eyes fall on you and it takes all your energy not to melt into a puddle. The Tribal Chief’s eyes fall on you and smirks.
Guess he likes what he sees.
“Y/N, what the hell are you doing,” your father growls. “Get back in the house!”
He tries to pull you back to the house, but you yank your hand out of his grip and keep taking.
“I’m this village’s only herbologist. In addition to all the treasure for my father, if you promise to find a replacement for me, I’ll go with you.”
“That shouldn’t be a problem,” Paul responds before looking to Roman. “Right, my Tribal Chief?”
“Yeah,” he says, his deep voice making you weak to your core. “We’ll have a new herbologist here first thing tomorrow morning.” He walks up to you, his hulking figure towering over you. He holds out his hand. “Do we have a deal?”
“Yes.” You take his hand and look up to him. “My Tribal Chief.”
His smirk grows and becomes all teeth. He motions to the carriage and you walk towards it without any argument.
“Y/N,” your father cries out as Roman opens the door and helps you up it. You can tell he’s trying not to cry, but the tears still fall. “I love you.”
“I love you too.”
And with that, you and your soon-to-be mate enter the carriage, followed by the Wise Man. As soon as the twins are situated at the front, the carriage begins to move, passing by the village gates.
“Are you satisfied, my Tribal Chief,” Paul asks, his tone rich in smugness. “I know you’ve been wanting an omega for so long and now you have the rarest of the rare.”
“You’ve done well, Wise Man. When we first arrived at that backwater village, I thought that we’d have to offer far more that that measly little chest.” He gently grasps your chin and makes him look at you. “And you worth every bit of those stupid little trinkets.”

Usually, if a unicorn’s home is destroyed, the unicorn will go out with it- either in an effort to defend it, or due to its deep connection to the life there.
Rarely, though, a unicorn will go through an unsettling transformation- becoming the manifestation of the force that destroyed its home.

Hello and welcome to Asterial!
My name is Elysia (she/her), and I’m going to be your guide through the wonderful world of Asterial.
Let’s get you started with some of the basics!
What is Asterial?
Asterial is a side realm connected to the human realm, where all magical beings reside.
Your history textbooks won’t tell you this, but we used to share a realm! We split off from you humans after The Great War… now the barrier is blocked off via magic, so the average human can’t even see the entrances hiding around the world.
Asterial is actually a rather new development, only being about a hundred years old, so don’t worry, there’s not a lot of major history to catch you up on!
Who am I?
You know my name, but let me tell you a little more about me!
Once again, my name is Elysia, I go by she/her pronouns. I’m a nature fairy (not a fae, that is a different species entirely!). I have two familiars, both being cats—Jazzmin (who is a brown and white main coon) and Gizmo (I have no idea what she is other than grey).
I live in the outskirts of the Celestial Pine forest, near one of the major Asterial cities. I’m not all that social, but I do occasionally visit the city for shopping purposes… I suppose.
I’m actually a deity’s aid, too! I work for Time Itself. My job is to share the unspoken truths. Believe me, you’ll never see me lie! I physically can’t. At least, not well…
Blog Rules
So with those introductions out of the way, allow me to set some ground rules for any wanderers who pass through here. I’ll keep it simple!
Show kindness! We all exist in this world together, divided by a barrier or not. I’m a person, you’re a person… be nice to each other!
No discrimination. Going off the above rule, I don’t wanna see any homophobia, transphobia, racism, ableism, nothing of the sort.
Keep NSFW on the low. I just don’t generally like talking about it, but I’m not gonna smite you or anything lol
That’s it! Literally pls just be nice
Asks are totally welcomed! Ask questions, talk to me about whatever… that’s what I’m here for!

I promise all of these links are safe! They all go to other Tumblr posts.

Crumpy McDumpy the III origin story
How Crumpy Mcdumpy got his name.
Back in the mid nineteen sixties, in Lake Remorse, a small city on the shores of a namesake body of water, Lake Remorse in the United States.  There was a minor sorcerer whose original name is lost. He had a day job (math teacher) and had his magic as well, kept pretty busy, didn’t have much time for his family, he became the first Crumpy Mcdumpy.  How? Well, it starts with a death. His long-suffering, neglected wife, Mildred, was crossing a busy street and maybe she wasn’t looking both ways, maybe the drivers of the cars were reckless, or some say she just ran into traffic on purpose. It was tragic, but she died; they never caught the driver of the hit and run. This man and his three children, two boys and a little girl, mourned their wife and mother. Now this is where the story would end most of the time.
However, this minor sorcerer did not take the idea that his wife was dead as the end.  He knew a spell to summon the most tricksy god of all, Loki. I don’t know the particulars but I know the Eddas lied and Loki was never tied down by entrails, tortured by venom, or maybe it was something that happened in the future.
Anyhow some of the components of the spell were mistletoe and lingonberry jam.
So Loki was summoned. In this world of many gods, and pantheons, Loki hadn’t been alone when they were summoned, they showed up with grape leaves twined in their red hair and a wineskin in their hand.
“Whhaaa?” Loki blinked.
“Are you drunk?” Asked the Sorcerer.
“I was hanging out with my friend Dionysus,” Loki said. “So… yes.”
“No matter! I summoned you, I need you to let me enter your daughter Hel’s domain and get someone back,” said the sorcerer querulously.
Loki was drunkenly waving to a small child who had showed up in the doorway.
“Oh, you’re still talking,” they said.
“Not now, sweetie, Daddy’s busy,” said the sorcerer closing the door. “Should I repeat myself?”
“No, I got it, underworld, get someone back, right,” Loki repeated. “But what’s it in for me?”
“For you?” The sorcerer asked. “Well you get me and every first born son of my line as your--- you aren’t paying attention are you?”
Loki had started eating the lingonberry jam with their fingers. “Yes, right… if you manage to persuade the person to come back, you win and If you don’t I will punish you and every first born son of your line… or something.”
Loki waved jam-coated fingers, said words in a secret god tongue, and a passage opened to the underworld.
“Thank you,” the sorcerer said, rolling his eyes.
So they walked down to the world of the dead, it was dark and there was only a small orange light provided by Loki, who was hiccuping and swilling wine, down into the underworld.
“How do you know they're even here?” Loki asked. “They could be in some heaven or I dunno… some other gods’ underworld.”
“No, Mildred’s family was faithful to your gods since… well I dunno they all came from Norway in the 1870s…” said the sorcerer.
Hel, half rotted, half goth, sat on her throne and in her domain was dim light like pre-dawn. The spirits of the dead lounged and slouched around, resting from their earthly toils in the half light.
“Father,” Hel croaked in an alto monotone. “You’re drunk… why are you here?”
“Hi kiddo!” Loki hallo’d. “I brought a mortal will-worker! He wants to take someone back to the land of living, ya know bring them back to life.”
Hel sighed. “I suppose you get something out of this?”
“Yep,” Loki gave a roguish wink.
Hel said: “Then mortal, cast among the recently dead for your loved one, and see if you can win them back.”
The sorcerer called out: “Mildred, my darling wife, please come back with me.”
From the gloom stepped his wife, in the same house dress she was wearing when she was stuck by the car. She smiled faintly.
“My love!” she called. “You came for me, you braved the underworld because you love me?”
“Of course,” he said. “Also the dishes are piling up, we have no clean clothes, we’ve been living on ham sandwiches, the floors are dirty, the bathtub has a ring around it, the youngest keeps blowing her nose on everything…”
He continued to list all the chores and domestic duties that needed doing since her untimely demise: Mildred’s smile vanished, her left eye twitched, her expression, unnoticed by her husband, was hardening into a scowl.
“… and that’s why you need to come back with me, sweetie, back to the land of the living to take care of us,” the sorcerer concluded.
“No,” said Mildred.
“What?!” the Sorcerer exclaimed.
“No, do it yourself, I’m dead.” Mildred said. She flipped him off with both fingers and walked backwards into the milling crowd of spirits.
“Welp, that tears it,” Loki grinned.
Now they were back in the sorcerer’s house.
“That was rude and ungrateful,” the sorcerer sniffed.
“… yep, now you and your first sons are cursed,” Loki said.
“... wait, we are?” The sorcerer said.
“Yes by me, Loki. I henceforth… proclaim that you and every first male child of your line shall bear the name… the name… mmmm—” Loki hiccuped and grinned “— CRUMPY MCDUMPY!”
“WAA?” The sorcerer now called Crumpy McDumpy exclaimed.
“Yes, henceforth you can’t change it; it is your true name and every being that sees you and your sons will call you this, and see you as Crumpy McDumpies.” Loki belched happily. “I’m in a good mood so you got off lightly, and don’t worry: every generation will get the chance to change it… by doing stuff for me—  so tata for now!”
And Loki vanished, heading back to party with Dionysus.
So that is how the first Crumpy McDumpy gained his family name and curse.

After buying Aseprite with the intention of using it for 2D gamedev, I decided to acclimate myself with the program by drawing Tyra! Drawn overtop an imported and downscaled base sketch, and adhering to the AAP-64 palette for its earthy tones as well as room for cooler hues should I continue the theme.

Forest kingdom
Tumblr media
The ambitious and enormous Forest kingdom was the first of the land kingdoms to be formed, when a manticore known as Emory Campos self proclaimed himself as the king and began organizing his followers into a society, he went on to drive off the pillbug species from the forest territory, as they refused to cooperate with his plans of building a kingdom. He would claim ownership of every territory in the land, and as he and his followers began setting up towns around the middle area Emory named his domain Forest kingdom and created a calendar to keep track of time after its official creation.
Due to being a master of magic King Emory lived for over 800 years and lead the kingdom through many changes and improvements over the years, but nothing good lasts forever, the last centuries of Emory's life were filled with blow after blow as massive parts of the territory separated from the Forest kingdom and became their own societies, currently known as the Mountain and Desert kingdoms. This made Emory's reputation as a ruler go downhill, as many of his former supporters and family members started seeing him as too soft and a shadow of his former self.
The last nail on the coffin was when he willingly landed a part of the territory to the Ocean kingdom refugees at shore instead of fighting for the land as his family wanted. This led to his reputation becoming even worse and eventually the family planned a coup against Emory to take him away from power, which ended up in his death and the ascension of Theodore Yarrow as the next master of dawn magic. The rulers after Emory strived to "make the kingdom great again" and take the forest out of this dark age they were currently in.
Nowadays the kingdom is known for its immense traditionalism and urge to follow said traditions under the belief that they exist for a reason, and if we ignore tradition society will fall into chaos. This leads the forest to be quite an oppressive place to live, as certain species and couples tend to suffer a lot of prejudice from their peers, societal expectations are also very present in the forest. They're also known for always seeking power, which was what led to the unfortunate creation of "The oddity" after an experiment made by the forest failed and the beast escaped containment.
This kingdom's native species are humans, manticores, satyrs, centaurs, vampires, werewolves and forest critters. Manticores being the ascended ones of the forest, they're known for being huge powerful beasts with immense strength and a poisonous sting. Manticores compose the entirety of the kingdom's royal guard, they're seen as mighty beasts and well loved by the society they live in. Aside from protecting the kingdom, manticores are also the ones who are periodically sent on expedition into the depths of the forest to gather power crystals which will be used to power energy through the towns.
The Forest kingdom's magic system is known as Dawn magic and taught mainly in the Ancient ruins of Dawn magic. This magic is heavily connected to the nature that envelops their kingdoms, its users are able to create many kinds of magically enhanced plants that can be used in all sorts of things. These powers are divided into combat based Dawn magic, which can be used in fights and fused with preexisting weapons depending on the proficiency level of the user, and healing based Dawn magic, which uses magical powers to heal others at the price of one's own health. Healing based Dawn magic tends to be mixed with potion making, as they're both heavily tied to medicine.
The Forest kingdom's current ruler is King Omar the third Campos and their Master of magic is Leonel Eberson.
Passing of the throne
Being a very traditionalist kingdom, the rulers of the Forest kingdom have always been part of the Campos family's bloodline. The throne is passed from father to oldest child and when it comes time to get a partner, a selection of members of the kingdom's high society will be called to meet the future ruler and perhaps get chosen to become their partner in the future.
This method of choosing their rulers essentially prevents habitants from lower social classes from ever getting close to the throne, some rulers of the past have gone as far as desown and complete erase certain family members from the family history once they decided to go agaisnt the family's wishes and marry someone deemed unworthy.
Choosing to marry someone outside of the choosing pool will lead to the person, and their future offsprings, losing their rights as a member of the royal family. The position of future ruler is then passed to someone else in the family.
Towns and important locations
-Greenbourn
Capital of the Forest kingdom, home of the royal family and the mighty manticore guard. The biggest and most populated city of the kingdom, commonly used to host big events or as a meeting ground for Citizen whenever the king has important announcements to make.
-Ancient ruins of Dawn magic
Ruins containing the knowledge about the forest magic type, discovered by King Emory when he was exploring the region many centuries back which led to him becoming the first one learn the magic and consequently become its first master.
Nowadays many new building have been added to the ruins, always making sure to original structure intact. The are has become an enormous college/school of sorts where citizens from all over the kingdom come to learn magic from wise and experienced teachers on the field, one of them being the curent master of magic, Leonel Eberson, who lives in the ruins and strived to be patient and kind to every student he meets there.
-The greatest land market
Biggest and most diverse business center of the land, having a shop or stand in there is in itself a sign of a successful business. It's not uncommon for buyers to come all the way from different kingdoms just to experience the market by itself as it has become a touristic attraction in its own right.
-Howling peaks and Wolfden village
A couple decades ago, King Omar passed a law that obligated werewolves to take a potion to revert the effect of their howling gene, as he considered them a disease of sorts. A movement agaisnt the king's cruelty was quickly created and for years the Mighty howlers organized protest and riots again Omar, eventually succeeding in making him back down and abolish the obligatory potion law.
During the conflict, many werewolves had their own hidden settlements known amongst them as wolfdens. After everything was over, the two biggest settlement were turned into straight up towns and named by Werewolves who were part of the movement.
-Paradise plateau
A chill valley in between the mountains and forest, home to many resorts and hot springs. It's also the place where a lot of manticores from the Royal guard tend to move to after retirement as it provides a quiet relaxed place to live after a lifetime of serving the kingdom.
-Flowerfield meadown
A beautiful town named after the enormous flower field around the region, formed due to simple flower growth spells casted over the years by Dawn magic apprentice as they trained. Many of the town's habitants live there due to it's proximity to the Ancient ruins, it also possesess the Forest kingdom's only harbour for shipments via sea.
-Soothing grasslands
Large rural area with a large quantity of farms and agriculture work in general, They're the kingdom's biggest supplier of anything of the sort and the goods produced there are even sold or traded with other kingdoms.
