A REPOST from @kellebhoney 👏👇🐝🐝🐝❤️ From A Beautiful Mess to farm livin’, our beautiful Golden Girls have had some big changes in the last few weeks! 🐝🙏❤️🙏🐝 When we were in need of a home for our buzzy ladies, our sweet friend, Michelle, from @abeautifulmesslubbocktexas , allowed us to use her back garden, behind her fabulous antique shop in downtown Lubbock. We are so grateful to you, Michelle, for allowing us a much-needed safe haven when we had nowhere else to go. We love you big time for all your support! ❤️🙏❤️ 🙏❤️ As we have expanded our hives and continue to grow our apiary (@paintedprairieapiary ) thanks to the hard work of our little busy bees (& Todd), we needed even more space to grow and movin’ on up to farm livin’ seemed a distant dream… 🐝❤️🐝❤️🐝 UNTIL… our gracious friends, Amanda and Tony from Crazy Hoe Farms @crazy_hoe_farms offered up their wildflower fields to our growing colony! 🎉🙏❤️🤯🐝🎉 Now our Golden Girls have wide open spaces, blue sunny skies, and plenty of space to grow into the next chapter of their lives! Todd and I are truly blessed by these bees and by the friends we have who support our passions so graciously! 🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏 We have been busy as bees moving them to their new home, setting them up for fast times, and spring growth. And Todd (@thebreadsandthebees ) has done an outstanding job with the move, maintenance, and care of our girls! Tonight, all of my family and friends are going to a Board of Commissioners meeting. Something I never thought I would do.... damn sure never thought I would have the guts to stand up and speak... but I’ve never been so empowered to make change in my life. We truly found our little slice of heaven on this Earth. Our town, our property.... it is literally the most perfect fit for us and our family. Now a bunch of developers and city slickers are trying to move in and make our ‘here’ look like their ‘there’. But we moved here because we didn’t want to live there! We wanted small town life, community, quiet.... and to be able to see the stars. Oh, 😍 the stars. I grew up in a small suburban town, so we rarely saw stars from our home. The light pollution kept the sky and hazy red or yellow. We can walk out in our back yard and it looks like you can see all of space and all of eternity. The most breathtaking and humbling thing I’ve seen in my life. So, say a prayer and keep my town in your thoughts tonight. This is farmlife. This is parent life. This is entrepreneur life. This is just life. I used to take things pretty seriously and wanted them to be just so. Until I realized no one else really cared about me being just so, because they were so worried about themselves being just so. Taking up residence in the country and raising a family in the middle of a business will quickly put that all into perspective. When we were hanging lights this afternoon, Finn was quick to remind me that the unlit Santas were decorations, just the same, and no less appreciated. He was right. Am I trying to impress an HOA or random passers by? No. Even when we lived in a subdivision, I always strung lights for the kids. It was a good reminder, going into this holiday season, to remember The Reason. Then, extend yourself (and loved ones) a little grace.
