From his series “The Secret Books” :: Sean KERNAN (American) :: Water :: (via yama-bato)

"In my world, it is recognizing that fascia is the body’s organ of structure and support. It is recognizing that fascia is layered, and therefore a plastic medium. It is recognizing that these layers slip, slide, and collapse in gravity so that whole body segments become misaligned. It is recognizing that the fascial layers desiccate and fixate into a crystalline matrix glue that sticks the body layers together in all the directions and at all the levels so that alignment with gravity and balanced movement become impossible. It is recognizing that this is a chronic and progressive process that does not fix itself and does not readily respond to local treatment. That is the bad news. Here is the very good news: Structural integration is recognizing that this crosshatched, interlaced, crystalline glue body matrix has an Achilles heel......"

Fascia, the unsung hero of our body's anatomy, often remains an enigma even to health enthusiasts. This network of connective tissue, often visualized as a spiderweb encasing muscles, bones, and organs, has a far greater role than mere structural support. Here's something that many might find surprising: Fascia is a major player in our sensory system.
Recent studies reveal that fascia contains a wealth of sensory nerves, making it almost as sensitive as skin. This discovery has profound implications, particularly in understanding chronic pain and mobility issues. It suggests that what we often perceive as muscle pain might actually originate from the fascia. This insight is revolutionizing pain management and physical therapy approaches, shifting focus from muscles and bones to this intricate web.
Moreover, fascia's fluidity and elasticity are critical in athletic performance. It's not just muscle strength and endurance that dictate performance, but also the health and flexibility of the fascia. Proper hydration and targeted stretching can enhance fascial health, thus potentially improving athletic abilities and reducing injury risk.
Fascia, therefore, is not just a passive structure; it's an active, sensory organ that plays a key role in pain perception, movement efficiency, and overall well-being. This perspective elevates the importance of fascial health, paving the way for innovative wellness and therapeutic practices.

* let the connective tissue - our souls' fascia, provide us a nimble, visceral network of support & strength;
- prompt an intervention should any injurious wind emanate from the dusky sarcophagus of pain & immobility bound within;
hoping healing brings a measure of release dissolving the gnarly grip of that extreme heat fusion - that embodied agony, intense & fierce - which, with perseverance, focus, care... lofts us to thrive once more.
praise be to this morning's grits, raisin toast, soymilked coffee,
's but a humble meal soothing a soul lifted from ennui as it nourishes one who finds comfort in simple things
like this brisk spring morning renewing, awakening the world from its slumber-in-season,
as we too shed dead skin, the winter blues; & beam sunshine of our own in the day’s new beginning. * 4/23 - lebuc - fascia

Research has determined that fascia tissues have 6x to 8x more proprioceptive sensory nerve endings than red muscle (Schleip 2017).
This makes the fascia system arguably the body’s largest sensory organ.
The spindle receptors in muscles are primarily located in areas where force transfer happens at the muscle-tendon unit (MTU). When it comes to sensing where we are in space and time, the fascia system provides our most important interface.

FASCIAL ARTICULATIONS ⠀ [FASCIAL ANATOMY - OSTEOPATHIC APPROACH] ⠀ The concept of a joint in the body is commonly understood as a junction of two bones such as the elbow. ⠀ However, another definition of a joint is “the linear or angular displacement between two separate biological elements”. ⠀ In essence, a joint can be comprised of any biological tissues that needs to move, pivot or slide/glide around one another. This concept is applied to many soft tissue and fascial links in the body. A junction of two fascial planes in the body typically requires a sliding interface where each layer moves opposite of the other. ⠀ This is referred to as a “fascial articulation” and they are numerous in the human body. This can be between specific fascial layers such as the thoracic diaphragm and the endothoracic fascia or simply between a muscle and it’s superficial fascial layer. An example of motion is ankle plantarflexion, which require bony translation of the talus-tibia but also sliding of the extensor tendons under the retinaculum, effectively creating a fascial articulation. ⠀ These joints need to be evaluated and treated for mobility and function just like bony joints as the two types of joints work in unison to create global body movements. ⠀ In the 2nd diagram, the red arrows represent high value fascial articulations or links. ⠀ Each joint is a connection of separate tissues that requires hydration, elasticity and space to function optimally. Very often, due to trauma, inflammation or inappropriate loading, these tissues become adhered to one another and lose their capacity to slide. This is a “fascial joint dysfunction” and needs to be identified and treated. ⠀ Once fascial dynamics are restored, it is interesting to observe that bony joint restrictions will often improve or resolve. ⠀ Credit @AnatomyLinks & S. Paoletti for the illustration and concept. ⠀ #anatomy #fascia #doctor #biomechanics #muscle #biotensegrity #chiropractic #osteopathy #rolfing #physiotherapy #yoga #acupuncture #medicine #manualtherapy #massage #pilates #anatomia #dr #orthopedics #yogainspiration #yogalove #joint #functionaltraining #student #bodywork #medstudent #fitness #rolfing #gym https://www.instagram.com/p/CdTgjr-gsUd/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Revisiting, spiral or coil? And what truly is the difference? Spiral- "winding in a continuous and gradually widening (or tightening) curve, either around a central point on a flat plane or about an axis so as to form a cone." Coil- "a length of something wound or arranged in a spiral or sequence of rings." Well that's confusing! Is it both? What I love about this illustration is the unilateral versus bilateral comparison. If we look at the #fascia in it's motion from one foot to cranium, it much more resembles a spiral. If we look at the bilateral #fascial highlight, it looks much more like a coil. What's this matter? Conservation of energy. If one of our spirals is more dominant, than the entire/gestalt coil will be leaking. There will be a lack of balance, altered hip height or leg length, or shoulder rotation etc How do you identify your leaks? Or dark zones? #spirals #spiralfascialline #spiral #coil #coiling #dna #fascialfitness #fascialtraining # myofascial #adaptablepolarity # movement #doublehelix https://www.instagram.com/p/CpSlM-MLYzm/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

I've been consistently hitting beans for a couple of months now on almost every cvt and sometimes seeing facia.
I have hit a vein once and a nerve another time.
but it's gotten to the point that I can't go deep enough for it to actually feel good, right .
I don't know what to do.

A roof is made up of several components. Two crucial parts of your roof that get little attention are your soffit and fascia. Their importance, however, cannot be understated because they support the entire structure. Today we will talk about what these two parts do for your home's roofing system. The skin is an organ that can influence body homeostasis. It is good practice, when evaluating the clinical picture of a patient, to always ascertain the presence of scars. Looking at the patient as a system and not just as a symptom or a symptomatological segment will help the clinician, and all those professionals who use manual techniques, to find a more effective treatment. A scar can produce different symptoms, which can affect the neurological sphere, the fascial, and the visceral area. The skin surface is a means to communicate with the nervous system, to understand it, and to give therapeutic information. We can conclude by affirming that the skin and the fascias represent the skeletal system of the nervous system.

🚨 Dead Butt Syndrome: What You Need to Know 🚨
I wanted to shed light on an increasingly common issue in today's sedentary world Dead Butt Syndrome (DBS), or medically known as Gluteal Amnesia.
🔍 What is Dead Butt Syndrome?
DBS occurs when the gluteus medius, one of the three major muscles in the buttocks, becomes weakened and stops functioning correctly. This can be due to prolonged sitting or poor posture and lack of targeted activation.
🔴 Symptoms to Look Out For:
1. Lower back pain.
2. Hip pain.
3. Difficulty in climbing stairs or standing from a seated position.
4. Instability or discomfort while walking.
💪 Self-help Remedies:
1. Regular Breaks: Every hour, take a 5-minute walking or standing break.
2. Strengthening Exercises: Glute bridges, clamshells, and step-ups can help activate and strengthen the glutes.
3. Stretching: Incorporate hip flexor stretches to combat the effects of prolonged sitting.
4. Mindful Posture: Be conscious of maintaining a neutral spine when sitting and activating your core, but do not forget the body isn’t made for sitting!
If you've tried these strategies and are still facing discomfort or pain, considering a more holistic approach might be the way forward.
🌿 Osteopathy for a Holistic Approach:
Osteopathy can provide a comprehensive assessment and holistic treatment, addressing not only the affected area but also related structures that might contribute to the problem.
Remember, our bodies are interconnected systems. When one part suffers, it can have ripple effects. Listen to your body, keep it moving, and don't hesitate to seek help if needed!
Stay active and healthy, everyone! 💼🚶‍♂️

These 3 basic Fascial Maneuvers can help reduce 70-80% of the stress in the body, it can be done once or twice a day. If done for 28 days most issues will begin to resolve themselves as the fascia begins flow, stress & inflammation naturally reduce. This reset will reprogram the body out of a habitual stress cycle and allow the body to do what it does best- heal itself.
