There is no non-conservative, non-fascist way to use "degenerate" and "degenerative theory." Those ideas are entrenched in fascism because that is where they originate from - there isn't a way to "reclaim" or "purify" them into progressive language and thought. Every time you describe queerness, disability, non-xtian religions, non-white or non-west cultures or races of peoples as "degenerative," you are doing the work of fascists, if you do not already see yourself as such.

Solidarity to my fat peers cause whenever obesity gets talked about in the media it's always steeped so fucking much in fatphobia and healthism (and that's without even getting into classism, ableism etc).

Every few months we go through the same cyclical arguments, with very few fat people involved in any of the conversations happening, and nothing really changes except people feel even shittier about themselves. And fatphobia is such an acceptable form of bigotry still, without even getting into the systematic bollocks you have to put up with within institutions.

Go have some fun, or go punch a fascist. Fuck society's bullshite.

It’s “being emotional about Jean-Luc Picard” hours yet again, so here are some thoughts for my particular portrayal:

The Enterprise crew is 100000% his family, and he sees them as such, frequently admitting it to himself if not to anyone else. He loves them wholly, fully, and unfailingly, and will always respect them and see them as equals. However, he would be lying if he said he didn’t have paternal feelings for characters like Riker, Troi, Data, Geordi, and Worf, or see them as his kids. 

He refers to them with terms such as ‘mon fils’ (my son), ‘ma fille’ (my daughter), and ‘mon garçon’ (my boy) in his head, and would refer to them as such to someone outside the Enterprise. 

He also has a tendency to adopt anyone younger than him and take them under his wing. He is ultimate dad material.

He likes children and is good with them, despite his initial apprehensions.

He is asexual and on the aroromantic spectrum, most likely greyromantic / demiromantic as I’m willing to ship with him to a degree. 

He is very messed up by “Best of Both Worlds,” “The Inner Light,” and “Chain of Command.” He has a tendency to dissociate as a result of the first two, and has PTSD from all three. He also has depressive episodes as a result. 

He also takes way longer to start his recovery and healing processes from all three than is shown in canon.

His feelings on Q, especially following “Best of Both Worlds,” deserves either a thread, a full-on meta, or a ficlet and I’m not sure which one...

Despite this trauma, “I, Borg”  does not at all happen how it does in canon because that is severely messed up. He is on Geordi’s side when they find Hugh, and is very concerned about helping him find himself and helping him recover from the assimilation, as he did.

He has no ill-will towards androids or anything like that, which is yet another part of ST: P canon I am throwing out the window along with most of it (no shade to anyone at all who likes it, it just doesn’t quite jive with my interpretation). He loves Data very much, sees him as a friend and a son, and recognizes his personhood and autonomy completely.

Château Picard is not a thing in my canon: he grew up in a Paris townhouse with his parents, like the one shown in “The Gift,” though if he has a brother, he would not have turned out to be an actual, literal fascist.

The former president's supporters invaded our National Congress and causing chaos and depredation after the former extreme right president lost the elections and left Brazil to hide in the U.S. the act is clearly inspired in the capitol's invasion after Biden won. Many of them came to the capital of Brazil, Brasilia, in November, set fire to buses, cars, have been camping outside army headquarters asking for the army to take over power in a military coup.

Those supporters also planned to blow a bomb at the international airport, going so a far as to set it but the police intervened. They came over in caravans last night planning on attacking the city today, the national congress being public patrimony that is representative of the democratic power in Brazil, and those people are trying to incite o violent coup. The local government of Brasilia is already being accused of not taking enough measures to keep those violent anti democratic protesters out of the area. So far, it seems there is no police there yet, the cavalry seems to be on their way.

Please don't support these people claiming the elections were fraudulent. We have one of the best electoral systems in the world to avoid fraud. The ex president was from the extreme right, defended torture during our past military dictatorship and was in favor of said dictatorship. He is already being accused of one of the biggest corruption scandals in the history of the country. He lost the elections fairly because of his extremism, corruption and incompetence as president.

Also remember the former president has left the country and all his supporters to hide in the US. As said, he is already being accused of several corruption crimes, including regarding the pocketing the money that should go towards buying of covid vaccines and letting 700k people die while the health system collapsed.

Translation of the cnn headlines: "just now: protesters invade the national congress".

For now I can't find sources in English because this just happened now at the beginning of the afternoon of this Sunday, January 8th, but as soon as there are, I'll post them.

I feel like some of yall need to read why nazis believed what they did was right. And exactly how that kind of ideology can worm its way into modern political discourse. Fair warning and correction though, I said in my original ask that this was a terf, but that isn't true, she's not even a radfem. This person leaves very clear that unlike most radfems and terfs, whose main fundament it's the goal of "Protecting and Uplifting all Adult Human Females no matter what" she hates with everything other and any woman that doesn't suit her stardards, to the point that not only she doesn't care about them as living beings, but openly wishes them the worst, therefore she hates the radfem movement and doesn't include herself in it. So yeah, objectively this isn't neither a terf nor a radfem, just a "Lescel" Sexist, Homophobic and Transphobic fascist.

Here’s me wishing that they hadn’t cut the bit in Endeavour (“Arcadia”, I think?) where Strange said something homophobic and Thursday gave him a right talking to about it, pointing out that some of the finest soldiers he served with etc. etc. etc..

I daresay it was cut for time (and it’s not like there aren’t plenty of other examples of Fred being at least a darn good ally (especially considering his damn job...) and it also being implied that Win agrees with him :) ) but just... ever since I read that that line existed (and I cannot even remember where now which annoys me!) I do so wish they’d kept it in. <3 Not least as I think it makes it clear that it’s not a... modern kind of allyship? It’s not him being ahead of his time, it’s that a cishet man of his time (and class) really could be extremely compassionate and anti-bigotry and remarkably open-minded in some ways. He’s noticed that homophobia is ridiculous and awful and acts accordingly - including, I assume, a fair amount of very creative not noticing things back when male homosexuality was still illegal. (And he is of course the most vocal (and angry) anti-fascist in general of all the main characters in the series, often speaking those anvils that still alas need to be dropped.)

(Honestly? If I have one major sadness about Endeavour it’s that I wish Thursday had an ending that was more about his best self than his worst, because both are fully part of him and his best self is so absolutely damn awesome and never ceases to be so. <3 Ultimately it was Morse’s show not Thursday’s, and they had a certain approach to Morse’s character in Inspector Morse that I don’t entirely agree with and wanted to get Morse there and that was the best way to do it, I do get all that. But... yeah. I still love Thursday. And am glad there are so many fanfics where he still gets to be on good form. He deserves it and so do we. :-) )
