Excellent day all round, with lots of physical activity, a 48hr fast and my macros are literally perfect. That's a rare thing, where the numbers fit exactly.
I did end the fast at the 48hr mark with cappuccino at 11.30 this morning and I've had a protein filter decaff after my last workout, but I still haven't actually eaten yet.
That will be resolved very soon at 2pm, as I'm going to go make bacon, egg and mushroom wrap with coleslaw and soft cheese. Been looking forward to that! But I haven't been hungry at all today.
The concept of fasted cardio is widely debated in the fitness community. The idea is that performing cardio on an empty stomach provides much more efficient fat loss than normal cardio.
Bill Phillips authored the book Body for Life in the late 1990′s. He is credited with creating the idea of fasted exercise. Later in 2012, studies were done comparing athletes who ate before their cardio, and athletes who performed their cardio fasted. The study showed that the athletes who performed their cardio in a fasted state saw much quicker fat loss than the other group. There is a link to this study at the bottom.
Fasted cardio and fasted lifting are both great options for increasing the speed of fat loss. This will also motivate you to wake up and get to the gym so you can eat sooner.
