people don’t talk about hilda (from the netflix show) enough and how absolutely insane she is. and by that i mean how she takes the Traditional Hero trope to the absolute extremes. she is filled with overwhelming whimsy; adventure is drawn to her like a goddamn magnet and absolutely NO ONE can stop her from pursuing it. and if they even try to get in her way then fuck them. this kid’s normal tuesday means possibly dying multiple times and fighting The Horrors. everyone around her is concerned for her and the unstoppable magical girl powers that she wields but she absolutely WILL be a little shit about it because she was pulled from her whimsical littol cottage in the woods where she played with trolls and forced to move to fucking Normal Non-Magic Town. turns out going to Normal Town is only a minor setback and soon she’s back on the befriending magical creatures (a GIANT TALKING RAVEN) grind. she’s so Magical Girl Protagonist that even her own mother is terrified for her.

put simply: hilda subverts the magical girl trope in such a way that makes her a threat to normal society. and i love her for that

loki detests all the masses of people but nearly melts when he sees how mobius lights up

he does enjoy it later on as well, very much even

sharing mulled wine

mobius wears the scarf loki made for him for his birthday (personal hc of mine: loki can crochet & knit insanely well)

mistletoes, so many mistletoes

snowflakes in loki's curls make him look even more mesmerising (mobius stop staring please)

mobius gets fairy lights for their apartment

loki shields his tiny husband from all the people bumping into everyone (inspo from the cutest gay couple i saw at the christmas market yesterday thanks guys♡)

they try out all the different food stands together

(since christmas markets tend to have lots of nordic food loki gets to teach mobius about his favourite dishes at home when he was a child)

mobius loves listening to loki anyway, no matter the topic, but hearing him speak so freely of the good aspects of his childhood always warms his heart

they search more quiet spots for breaks when they both get a little overwhelmed

loki sings (though this time only for his husband)

holding hands in each others coat pockets & hand kisses to warm cold skin up

beanies

they try on all the beanies in the whole market (mobius puts them on loki who eventually just surrenders to it)

in the end loki buys them real silly, matching ones (if any artists want to draw this, by all means, go ahead! i'd love that so much but i have zero talent when it comes to drawing)

loki drags mobius to the ice rink, the only thing he's weary of since he's never been ice skating before - but loki is there to help!

he's a pro at it, frosty heritage and stuff

yes i believe frost giants can ice skate really well shush

lots of laughter and banter ensue with mobius attempting to stay upright

the waist hold™ is now reversed to prevent mobius from falling on his butt

but honestly they were gonna be close anyway so

touchy touchy

mobius gets the hang of the whole ice skating ordeal and loki cheers him on when he manages one round around the rink on his own

though he completely rams into loki's back upon his return

when they tire out after a while they get more food, sit around one of the nearby bonfires and cuddle

star gazing when it gets dark & planning for christmas eve

they both sneakily buy gifts for one another when the other's busy with something

mobius gets a little tipsy

too many samples at the liquor shops oops

just finished watching season 2. i bawled my eyes out for ten minutes straight. like full on sobbing. not even because of the ending. i think i will need to do a whole rewatch just to get all the feels of the show. i bawled because i felt 20 years worth of my own trauma that i've been bottling up about growing up gay and everything that comes along with it but also just the feeling of being deeply deeply alone in your own head about it. in tv shows when i was growing up, if there is anything remotely queer, which there wasn't any for a long time, it has only ever been... undertones, nothing real, nothing solid. i had nothing like this growing up. just seeing two of my favourite characters kiss absolutely killed me. having this as a young teen would have erased so much of my loneliness and shame and pure fear. i am so so happy things are changing for the younger gays of the world now. they get to grow up with shows like this. and watching it is healing the inner me that lived through a different time<3 god. eeeugghhh. it is so much more than a kiss to me.

#i remember finding the show when it was only on its second ep ever during the pilot arc and i thought it was just a mini series #but no! a full show! i could not contain my delight and prerecorded every episode on cable tv. yes on cable tv i found it randomly #on the hub channel. also where i watched basically all of g1. #i loved and blissfully awaited the eps featuring starscream like the red energon one and the clone one i kept rewatching those #they were just so fun. him and shockwave are my favs. but i thought all the characters were just so well done #i later went and bought the entire shore on dvd bc of course i had to. i still have soundwave on my shelf he was the only one i could afford #i later got starscream and dreadwing #i thought the animation quality and just... art of it was so good i couldnt believe it was a regular show and not some special. blessed #anyways thank you tfp for everything we love you
