ask game: 4 if you read also, and 20. i have very much enjoyed your stuff and would love to know a bit about the writer behind the stuff.
Hi @turanga4! Ahhh, your words are making me flush with happiness. I'd love to get to know you as well! Thank you for the questions; 20 especially made me think.
4. Link your three favorite fics right now. (Harry Potter edition)
I have been enjoying following @foreverginevra's The Path to You! My headcanon is that Harry and Ginny get back together after the war, but I enjoy indulging in what if's. I am always impressed by the dialogue, especially in group settings!
Let Souls Wander by tosca1390 — Read this over the weekend, and gosh, I don't usually read Ron/Hermione (only because I mostly read Harry/Ginny), but this was such a perfect Hermione POV. It reminded me all over why I also adore Hermione, even if I hardly write her.
lost: in defense of ginny weasley by @ink-splotch — This is, of course, very well known (and I probably rec'ed it before), but I was rereading it last night, and it is just so amazing, every time. The imagery, the connections. I love all of their work, but of course having this for one of my favorite characters is such a gift.
20. What’s your favorite part about the fanfiction writing process?
Oh my goodness, this is such a tough one because I don't really know. Every time I sit to write, it feels like a different experience.
I have two favorite parts. The first is when I think of the idea, or think of some specific line that inspires me. There are scenes for stories I haven't written that just live inside me, like a lingering light, that I ache to capture and get down it down imperfectly in words (never, ever as good as what lives in my head). That imagination though, the daydream of a story and characters and scene, an emotion I wish to share in the hopes that someone else can maybe, possibly feel something close to what lived in me.
The second favorite part is having finished written. Having accomplished in somehow getting whatever lived in me the best I possibly could in writing. Usually, I end up re-writing or editing my first drafts until I'm happy (and that's when I post). I love the feeling of my beta, who understands what I am trying to achieve with my writing, tells me she likes it. I trust her to tell me when it's not good, and not just tell me it's good to not hurt my feelings. Usually I can tell when it's where I want to be, and I am proud of what I've done and my growth.
Grover manipulating ares in that therapy session by pretending to hate kids and rolling his eyes as if he isn't just a single mom working tirelessly to stop his kids from murdering people on accident.
Just everyone thinking he's so peaceful and sweet and it takes 0.00001 seconds to commit psychological warfare with the GOD OF WAR HIMSELF.
lmao sometimes I hate that my favorite part of writing is putting the little header pics for the chapters with the line divider and making the masterlist collages.
"Tell your favorite creators that you like their work, people usually enjoy things silently, but hate tends to be loud"
This is a phrase I just heard from Dnd shorts that captures perfectly why I often try to make the effort of commenting on posts and telling people that I enjoy their work and why
Even to small creators, I advice everyone to make the extra effort to tell them, I can guarantee it makes all the difference in the world, it's not cringy or obnoxious, it'll just brighten someone's day
