Do you think they’ll keep Bowser as the main villain in the inevitable sequel?

If not him I could see Wart as he’s rarely used so you can get a lot of leeway on his character and if not him then maybe Cackletta and Fawful but I would save them for a third movie.

Side note (because I've been meaning to bring this up but haven't had the chance to): I honestly thought the post credit scene was going to show Kamek hatching a plan to rescue Bowser. He's not even seen anywhere; you would think he would be plotting on getting his king back!

Considering that the games are pretty infamous at this point of having Bowser as a final villain no matter what (see the M&L series as a prime example) it wouldn't surprise me if the sequels introduced the other villains, and then had Bowser be the "final boss" at the very end. Whether by manipulation, possession, or just his own choice, doesn't matter.

But then again, while this can be accepted in the games, in the movies it will be too noticeable and critisied by audiences: so they're gonna have to shake it up.

They could do stories like Super Paper Mario (where Bowser isn't the final boss), or just change things up a bit with existing stories.

Like say if they did Dream Team

they just have Antasma as the main villain, and completely omit the alliance and the Dreamy Bowser fight at the end.

If they DID have Kamek rescue him in the post credit scene, then they could've false advertised that Bowser was going to plot a revenge scheme. Only for the sequel to come round, and a new villain is introduced and Bowser has to throw out the revenge plot in order to team up with the heroes. That would be hilarious!

A bento! Made with care! By a loving wife!

The only thing on my mind while doing that side quest was Kashiwagi and it shows. Possibly ishin spoilers for names, and Akiyama specifically so thread carefully. Also I am using the yakuza names in brackets cause i cannot for the life of me remember them by Ishin names.

Ishin men get a bento from their partner with (Kashiwagi) Inoue Genzaburo, (Ryuji) Saigo Kichinosuke and (Akiyama) Katsura Kogoro

(KASHIWAGI) INOUE GENZABURO

- You’d think he will be all embarrassed and troubled to be handed a bento right before his squadron and other captains. You’d think WRONG. Much to everyone’s surprise, he is very smooth about it. His lips bend into a rare, kind smile as his calloused hands gently wrap around the package, carefully wrapped in a colorful cloth. He stares right at you with this wistful gaze, like you are his entire universe and more... Although you can imagine that in reallity, he is definitely gauging reactions out of the corner of his eye.

- Gen is not the kind for pettines. Yet, whenever it comes to his beloved partner, he feels immense pride in rubbing it hard into the wounds of the starved shinsengumi hounds. Showing them what they could never have. In some ways, he thinks of you as a trophy, but with how kindly he treats you it hardly feels like an insult. If anything, being able to tame one of shinsengumi’s best is to be worn like a badge of pride.

-  He makes sure to thank you with a kind word for your dedication and is most regretful he cannot offer a kiss to the knuckles of these hands, that prepared the meal for him. Not right away, that is. Instead he inconspiciously leans closer, tips of his ears slightly burning, as he whispers to meet him by the riverbed. Gen needs not say anything more, you’ve been at it for a while after all. This meticulous little mischief of yours, that starts with handing him a bento for all to see and ends in a secluded spot where he consumes the food while listening to your day. Otherwise know as his favourite part of the day.

- So both of you slip away from prying eyes, enjoying each others’ presence to the tune of soothing sound of waves. He sits by you, his face filling with little wrinkles of joy as he uncovers the delicacies of the homemade bento. The conversation you share is so engaging, that before you know it he is already halfway through, his free hand sneaked around yours with fingers drawing circles into your skin. Gen’s touches are always so gentle and yet barely a little brush sends warm tingles running through your body. Fondness. Both yours towards him and his towards you.

- It’s pretty much his habit to share the bento with you, so he always encourages you to fill at least some part with your favourite foods. Even if you deny him that little pleasure, you will suddenly start hearing about how much he loves that meal or the other that you just happen to enjoy. You can’t beat the old fox. If you ask him to feed you, he would certainly grumble about how you “are no longer a child”, but at the same time Gen would never dare truly deny you.

(RYUJI) SAIGO KICHINOSUKE

- Still not over the fact that he did actually score you, the best goddamn thing ever, as his partner. And now you even bring him a lovely, homemade bento? Not even his big ego can help him wrap his head around this, even if he makes sure to look otherwise. There is a full fledged smirk on his face as you approach with the wrapped goods, his hands crossed nonchalantely on his chest. The aura he exudes just screams smug, confident and in a way not surprised he is having people fawing over him. Even his men, despite the fact that they are pretty sure you are the first one to ever do that, try to pay no mind. No one dares point out the twinkles in his eyes, knowing it leads to nothing but trouble. For you, however, these twinkles are the most endearing thing about your lion of a lover.

- Saigo has no sweet words to offer, instead messing up your hair with his big hand and accepting the bento like he is doing it for your benefit, more than his. The only sweet thing is the time he takes to tease you about it, asking if you want to poison him or perchance court him - like you are not partner already. He enjoys the bickering, and keeping you around longer, almost as much as the dishes you prepared for him so you make sure to entertain his playful side at least sometimes.

- While you cannot accompany him during the dinner, you can be sure to find a cleaned out bento right outside of your room the following evening. On more busy nights it just appears on its own, but the little trinkets left just by it - like a freshly picked flower - assure you that you were visited by the lion himself. Every other time, however, Saigo makes sure to stop by in person, even for a brief spell. His partner will not be left wanting for his attention, that’s for sure. Be it some intimate time in your room - just so spying servants are less likely - or a date out on the city, the man will pour all his heart into making you feel appreciated and loved. 

- If you happen to make it a habit, he will get incredibly worried when you stop bringing him food. “Did they get kidnapped” kind of worried. He has his men all over Kyo, himself included if circumstances allow, looking for your whereabouts only to find you completely oblivious and enjoying your time. It takes some explaining to get it through his thick head that you were being late or maybe didn’t have inspiration to cook today altogether. He doesn’t want to make you feel guilty about it, not in a malicious way but... The puppy eyes do make you feel at least SLIGHTLY guilty. You can’t help but accept an invitation for shared dinner now. And the whole situation causes quite an uproar for the days to come, with all the factions on edge. It just so happens to be the perfect excuse to offer you to stay with him for the time being. Forever, maybe?  

(AKIYAMA) KATSURA KOGORO

- So giddy when Ikumatsu presents the bento you left for him! His trusted spy is left giggling mess as she watches her boss light up in joy, his fingers impatiently unwraping the material around dinner you lovingly prepared. Kogoro spares no vocal compliments, boasting loudly to every usual patron enjoying their drink in the bar. No one seems too bothered, at this point they are used to his antics and if anything, watching him so entranced is just endearing. Just as he is about to dig in, you suddenly reveal your presence previously hidden by the kitchen door - a little ruse Ikumatsu came up with to surprise the leader.

- Somehow, his smile manages to get ever wider and in no time he strides over to your side, hands gently placed on your shoulders. The comforting warmth of his fingers seeps down into your core, as the man’s voice trembles with geniuine passion. It’s only a few words of gratitude and yet this sincerity is near dizzying when you realize all the eyes on you. Kogoro pays no mind himself, but in a second thought he does worry he might cause you trouble. Immediately backs down with a sheepish expression, hands twitching at his side ever so slightly now that they are no longer hooked around your figure.

- The next time you come over with a bento, he makes sure to be prepared. Even Ikumatsu backs off when he explains his master plan to pay you back for your kindness. As you settle down in the bar, enjoying the slow business with a sip of tea, Kogoro bursts out of the kitchen not unlike you did. Much to your surprise, he is wearing an outfit more appropriate for a cook than Choshu leader - topped off with a cute little apron barely tied around his waist, clearly belonging to some of the more feminine chefs. In his arms he cradles his favourite dish, clearly fresh and... Slightly off. He looks truly defeated like never before. He lost, and to a meal no less.

- Hopefully you are willing to still give it a try. It doesn’t look outright poisonous, at very least, and the look in his eyes tells you that it might yet lift his spirits. Just a kind “thank you” coming from your lips makes him brighten right up. He watches you like a hawk, as you take the first bite only to discover, that it is actually pretty good! Although some elements are all over the place and presentation was less than appealing, you can tell there was a lot of effort and heart put into it. You find that it just gets better with each bite through the simple reality of him by your side. Finally as the dish is cleaned, Kogoro finds it in himself to ask for your review. Can you imagine how happy he will be when you ask him to cook for you again some time?

Cautionne’s character inspiration grid!

So, I’ve mentioned Cautionne was inspired by Fawful a couple of times - but he’s had other influences as well. Here’s an inspiration grid of characters who influence how he acts within malViolence. 

More details under the cut (and slight spoilers for malViolence!)

Fawful - *VERY* self-explanatory. He's the reason Cautionne exists in the first place. But Cautionne was also influenced a lot by fandom portrayals of Fawful around Bowser's Inside Story's original release. My big dream is to draw them/see a drawing of them meeting each other.

Megamind - Cautionne’s canonically watched the film. I wrote the line. Its text. You cannot refute this. 

But also his emphasis on "VILLAINOUS PRESENTATION"! His goofiness! His love for various evil scientific technologies! Cautionne took all of those to heart.

Rui Ninomiya (I know the image I used is of Berg Katze hijacking Rui’s body, but hear me out: its Cautionne-adjacent) - Anyways, Rui is a tech prodigy who frequently dresses feminine! 

Cautionne is similar: he's a boy who has a feminine dress style, and he's gifted with tech stuff!

Anti - I wanted to capture Cautionne’s energy as a tiny hater, so Anti (my favorite tiny hater) is on his grid for this reason.

Monokuma - A villain who is both comedic and terrifying, with an iconic laugh! Cautionne’s voice acting takes a lot of cues from Monokuma’s; as well as the fine line he walks between being hilarious and unnerving.

Flowey - Similar reasons for adding Monokuma to Cautionne’s grid, but with the added layer of tragedy. For how Cautionne is tragic... play malViolence and find out ;>

Pinoko - The way she fought hard to just... live feels very similar to Cautionne’s own personal fights. Also she's goofy, like him!

Prushka - Specifically, how she was raised at the Ido Front. I’m not going into more detail with how this ties into Cautionne because we'd get into MAJOR MALVIOLENCE SPOILERS, but the influence is there.

Okay so, it’s time to begin this series of posts officially. Yesterday I asked what characters you’d add to smash if you had to add a character from every franchise already represented. Today we start with me answering this question for the Mario series.

So let’s start by discussing who I count as “Mario” characters. So I release Donkey, Diddy, and K Rool from the “Mario” series as they’re here more to represent Donkey Kong Country than as Mario universe characters. I just wanted to acknowledge that these characters are Mario universe characters by technicality. So who I’m counting is Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Wario, Bowser Jr, Rosalina, Daisy and Piranha plant. This means Mario is represented in 8 characters, 11 if you count the DK characters. So Mario is already well represented and no one would notice if they didn’t add another Mario character.

We can’t have this discussion without mentioning this, and I’m gonna try my best to do this for every franchise if I can. But I only know so much. So, the two most popular requests for Mario characters are these two. Waluigi, and Geno. This would be the part where I tell you if I agree or not, and this time, I don’t. Don’t get me wrong these are great characters. I just have a different idea in mind.

So we already discussed that Mario is well represented but one factor isn’t. The Mario sports games get referenced in move sets among other things. But Mario RPGs are not well represented enough in my eyes. While Geno would do a good job doing this, I don’t personally believe his legacy as a character is as big as the requesters think it is. So my choice is a character from a Mario RPG. Now minor spoiler to all my choices, I’m going to pick a lot of villains, I think there aren’t enough. So my choice is

Mr Awful Fawful. The secondary antagonist of Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga and the main antagonist of Bowser’s inside story. I, admittedly have never played any Mario RPGs, unless you count Super Paper Mario, and a lot of paper Mario fans would prefer the game didn’t exist, so, shrug. But I’ve watched play throughs of these games and Fawful is easily the most memorable part of these games, this clever, conniving, gremlin bean man is a great character who I think would be a great representation of how quirky Mario RPGs tend to be. I feel he’d have a move set revolving around gadgets and gizmos as that’s mostly how he fights, Fawful is dangerous because of his mind, so to portray him well would require a mind games heavy move set.

I have explanations of some of it. Keep in mind, these headcanons only relate to the Immortal Fool AU as passing these as game headcanons is just absolutely nonsensical. Very little of it may also be endcomic spoilers, but really, what's left to spoil?

And lastly, some of these bits didn’t get to be fully explored in the comic or else it would be maybe 300 more pages hahaha

Gonna split the tidbits into groups

Ghostblusters

The main trio tasks with Cackletta's revival since the events of Superstar Saga. Fawful stole Kamek from the Koopa Troop for his magic and then stole Gadd from... whatever house he was haunting i guess, for his knowledge on ghosts. Together, they were to assemble a new body for Cackletta's ghost via science, sorcery, and necromancy.

While commencing everything in secret, the trio also had lives outside of this project, and as a casual distraction from all that hardwork which Cacky doesn't seem to be appreciative of, they assemble a retro mad science festival at the Hooniversity. They become famous for it and the event has drawn in nerds from all over the world.

The festival was to happen the weekend after the present-day events of the story. Gadd had the original Poltergust, Fawful had his headgear, which he never managed to finish repairs on, and Kamek wanted his island bosses, which isn't exactly science, but he insisted.

Technically, Fawful is not that strong and the other two could have easily escaped and went home, but they had their reasons to stick around. Gadd had to keep Cackletta under surveillance and Kamek's job was given to Wendy, therefore having no home to go to. Eventually he was to plot an escape plan with Naval once she arrived. Where that would go afterwards was unplanned.

As for Fawful himself, he's been juggling his loyal to cackletta with his management of the Hooniversity and his overall fame as a scientist. It all makes him feel accomplished as a hard worker but also took a rather huge toll on his health.

Additional Minions

While they've only made very brief appearances in the comic and I wished i could do more with them, the smaller jellyfish sister works for Fawful (originally was written in as a hooniversity student) and "Chester" the Oho Jee is the one that stuck out to Fawful the most from the others. He sometimes hangs out with the surfer jees, but what stood out the most was that he hangs around people a lot as if trying to socialize/communicate.

It was implied in the research tapes that beanish who had violent confrontations with oho jees and elements have themselves turned into Oho Jees and there's a chance Chester could have been the one of the final researchers to fall into a terrible fate before the research was then abandoned until Fawful took over.

Why Lima called him "Chester" just felt like an absolute random decision on her end, but Fawful wasn't really surprised since she's normal for her random outbursts of things. it came together when he inherited some of Cackletta's memories and "Chester" turned out to be a more familiar name than she nor Lima would ever speak verbally.

The Royal Babysitters Club

Way long ago (not really, more like right before Bowser and Peach born), Kamek, Lima, and Toadsworth had adventures. Kamek and Lima were a pair that dated and broke up long ago and been petty about it since. When Lima was with Toadsworth, Kamek would kidnap Toadsworth knowing Lima would come for him, and Lima made a wish on Star Road for youth and strength to rival Kamek's (Koopas retain their youth for much longer and has the energy of a 40yr old human despite being over 100). On the other hand, Lima wanted her elderly appearance retained so it wouldn't raise any questions at her own castle. That was when Geno came down to grant said wishes and also assess the situation.

It can be said that the the whole thing happened because she wished it to be and that wish brought her to see her rival/ex partner again. Kamek was just newly assigned to look after the egg that Lord Bowser would soon hatch out of, so he didn't appreciate being pulled out of that for a spontaneous mission to mess with the Mushroom Kingdom.

Kamek made a counter wish (which technically wasn't intended for evil so it passed) to not be involved in Lima's wishes again. Bowser was born, and those adventures stopped.

Toadsworth is still friends with Lima to this day and is on pretty okay terms with Kamek since he knows Princess Peach won't be harmed under his watch.

Spite Club

A trio acquaintanceship between Lima, Kamek, and Geno as a result of the abovementioned wish-manipulated adventures. Geno was specifically appointed by Star Road to look after these two old people, as he was the one who granted their wishes which resulted in their needs to create more wishes to spite each other even as the two lived apart in different countries.

It can be said that Geno involved Toadsworth in the first adventure so Lima could meet him (which also promoted good affairs between the Mushroom and Bean kingdoms) and to move on from Kamek. 3 can play at the manipulation game!

Technically, none of them made evil wishes. They knew how to work the system for small, petty wishes everytime they came across a shooting star and Geno at this point had nothing to do but to play along and watch each others' wishes backfire in some small way because "be careful what you wish for", right?

The wishing drama didn't end there either. Lima and Geno know somethng about Fawful's origins, but that in its own is under a wish to never be spoken about, and that can only be broken if Fawful himself makes a wish to know about it. It was under the intent that he's safer not knowing, so of course, that wish passed- under the condition that Fawful himself could break it if he wanted to.

He seems to have other priorities, though.

As sorcerers that worked with Fawful pretty closely (and Cackletta possessing him), Cackletta and Kamek have an idea of what the deal is, but again, they can't speak of it.

And this is how wishes can backfire. Both Fawful and Naval inherited some of Cackletta's memories, and those memories contain her realizations about his sorcery (especially since possessing him) that she cannot verbally speak of. It's all communicated mentally.

It answers a lot of his questions about the next group I'm gonna talk about, but as of Chapter 7, he's realized some things:

this kid can do transformation hocus pocus like a koopa.

And Cacky wants it

Spite Club Neo

The next generation, but we remove Geno from this group and add Fawful. The strange orphan child with an obsession over tech who was tossed around like a hot potato between who knows where, Popple, Cackletta, and Lima.

Fawful's successes with the hooniversity and oho islands were completely accidental, as his original intent was to exploit the facility and make a minion army out of oho jees for the secret cackletta revival project. He's smart enough to not use wishes to hide secrets! Anyway, as all of this was brewing up, Lima began hovering over him and try to influence him into being a good guy, but as a manipulative old bag herself, she's not good at it. Some of the flashback pages between Fawful and Lima intentionally make no sense. They don't even get along half the time!

Then Kamek returns to Beanbean unwillingly a few years later. He's leery that Lima's continuously babysits Fawful and Lima is leery that Fawful chose Kamek- THIS MAGIKOOPA of all koopa wizards to work for him. Fawful simply researched who was the best for his cause and he remembered this big mouth egotistical wizard he passed by a couple of times as a kid, so why not?

Did Fawful back then know anything about Lima or why these two old people were bickering over tea? Absolutely not! The old people at this time had no idea who HE was, either! He was just some rando with a rocket that Cackletta had snatched.

But the 2-3 years that progressed until present day, Lima would involve herself at some of the boys' public shinnanigans. Is she keeping an eye on things? Does she miss chaos? Is she supporting Prince Peasley when he drops in to pick a fight? Did Queen Bean instruct her to keep an eye on both Fawful and the Prince?

Public statement is that she stole Fawful from Cackletta in order to spite her dead body but she wonders if Kamek sticks around fawful and coaches his struggling sorcery in order to spite Lima herself? Kamek is also wondering if Cackletta, now just a ghost in a jar, is working Fawful to the bone, to rise from the dead in a new body in order to spite Lima. It goes around in circles, but Fawful is simply just trying to get a job done and needs a break from these weirdos.

In any case, Lima and Kamek's rivalry has downgraded to a rather salty friendship since around his hypnotist days in Fungitown.

Kamek and Cackletta's connection will be discussed at a later group point.

Hello! This isn't trying to pressure you or anything, I'm just genuinely curious and wanted to know about your plans for Mario content (since I know you've wanted to do that for a while). Any fun worldbuilding you'd like to share? :)

Man, I wrote Mario world stuff ages ago that I completely forgot about... I had a 100 Prompts series and I think I got into the 30s before it stopped. I had tons of worldbuilding for Cackletta and Fawful specifically since they were my favorites :)

I do still keep my [current] Mario drafts around, but unfortunately I'm not sure when I'll post them... I'm never satisfied. I like the canon worldbuilding the way it is and it Does Not Translate very well into my writing style. I've tried for years, but it just... doesn't.

My Mario stuff is "okay," but it just feels very "meh" to me. I think I'll get there someday if I'm willing to work on it, but I'm not able to do that right now. I HAVE actually thought about it and I might post the occasional one-shot, but I'm not sure yet. My worldbuilding is still all over the place and it's very messy and I'm not in love with it.

One of my stories is called "Political Machines" and it's about how the name "Mario Kart" came to be; it's Peach POV and delves into the culture of racing Yoshis back before karts came around. I like the idea of it a lot, but it's extremely info-dumpy and I've been struggling with it for years. I think I need to write something else first, but I haven't figured out what. I also have two Bowser stories (a one-shot called "1-Down" which is Kamek POV and covers the deaths of Bowser's parents, which I LOVE but can't make it hit right) and a very loose draft for a story called Carapace Rex which is a Bowser backstory 'fic. Here's a good scene from the former:

I do miss this 'fic... I really like how extreme Bowser is despite how badly bullied he is by his abusive mom; he's vicious to her and I love that.

tbh it's actually really nice and maybe I'm overthinking it. I'd love to finish it; I just can't get the emotions right.

That said, I might take another whack at it soon and post when I'm done fiddling since I've already seen how I'll fiddle with it for years if I don't commit to a date /shrug. It's definitely one of the stories that ever was... It's just not hitting the emotions I need it to.

I LOVE the opening lines to Carapace Rex (not sharing for major "1-Down" spoiler reasons), but I probably won't write the latter since it's been almost 6 years since I started it back in 2018. Getting older, hoping to publish original work, and starting a new long 'fic wouldn't be a good idea (Dog's Life draft started in early 2022 and Factor in 2018; I'm just wrapping up existing projects for now, but Carapace was always super vague so I don't really want to get into it). I might turn it into a one-shot though since I really love the voice in it.

-> The concept behind Carapace was that Koopas were predators of Toads... I actually reskinned the intro for Carapace into a piece of original content I used in my advanced creative writing class in college, then reskinned it again as the backstory for my OC Courtney the snow leopard, then reskinned it again to be the original project I took to a writer's conference this year...

I'm dying to do something original with predators and prey, but I've had a lot of talks with agents and editors and professional authors and we agreed it's not the right time for this content. To make a long story short, I'd either have to strip the fantasy politics out and de-age the characters so it's "animal people middle grade" or I'd have to age up the characters and push the adult angle and I... I don't know how I feel about my public author persona being "adult furry content"...... that's not what I want; I just want wolf kids hunting in the woods for their coming of age and growing up in this post-war world of fantasy politics and ceremonies... sob. The publishing world has categories though and you have to play by the rules.

Maybe someday... but I have a weird relationship with Carapace because of that, because I'm in LOVE with the scenes from it but I'd hate to use them in Mario fanfic when I'd like to use them in original work. Tsk-tsk. Maybe someday once I've already gotten my foot in the door. I'm keeping this project on the backburner as something I might self-publish but I've talked to a lot of people and I'd rather get something published traditionally and try to build my author platform before I invest, because self-pub is... expensive.

Honestly right now Dog's Life is giving me my "we're way too young to be carrying the weight of this many interspecies politics on our shoulders" fix, so at least I have that <3

I also have an 8-chapter 'fic called "Out of You" which is about Kamek trying to raise the Koopalings (and Junior). I'll probably scrap most of that and rehash it as something else; I don't think there's much worth saving...? I'll have to think about it.

Potential's good, fun is good... Just need to find the right kind of worldbuilding that satisfies me. I'd originally hoped to post Mario stuff before the movie came out in April, but I just never got around to it. Maybe someday? It just doesn't feel right, though, and I can't invest my energy in something I'm not in love with.

That's all I have to say right now; I don't want to say too much about my worldbuilding since it's still super messy. I have ideas about what would be "cool" or "interesting" but I just... don't love those ideas enough to make them part of "my take" on the world. There is a fine line between "Riddle's usual magical realism writing style" and "At this point it's an AU." I think I need to cull back the crazy ideas and stick closer to canon.

Is that "boring" and "uncreative"? Eh, I think that's just where my passion lies; I write fanfics because I love the media, and if I didn't love it, I wouldn't be writing fanfics. When I write, I want to continue writing the worldbuilding that I love, which means basing it closely on the media. I guess I'll always be canon compliant at heart even in a fandom where I'm okay with writing AUs, ha ha.

Maybe I'll dig up some of my really old one-shots from that 100 prompts project, clean them up a little, and post some of them. I know there were some Baby Bowser and Doopliss pieces in there. Might be a nice icebreaker.

so i literally only came across this IF today but i'm in love with the concept and all the characters and have just been reading all the scenarios stalking your whole blog❤️❤️❤️ it's definitely possible that the answers to some of these are spoilers, but i have a couple questions if you don't mind me asking!!

Ooo IM SO GLAD YOU CAUGHT ON A FEW THINGSSS!! I am so excited to answer all of theses questions for you!! THANK YOU FOR ASKING THISSS💜💕

1. Dawn knows English well because she taught herself along with stalking/forcing a few merchants to teach her. Along with her being at a young age while learning the language she was able to pick things up easier and listen in on conversations outside the thicket and put certain sentences together!

2. Yes! Half/part faw and other hybrids are common in this world! While both S and M can use runes, which invoke magic, so could B if they wanted to. The way runes work here is like this; the runes need something to take in order to give. Like how with S, they have their fist painted. So, when they carve the runes into their fist, their blood is taken and gives the force of the punch more volume. It will be explained in more detail in the IF, don’t worry. ^^;

3. In this world everyone believes in some sort of god/goddesses. They are all represented in stones an example is how when an RO (B) swears they say, ‘by lapis lazuli!’ As a term to curse the name of the god, lapis lazuli. While saying ‘by the goddesses/gods’, would be used when startled and sort of summon the attention of the entities one would believe in. While the term ‘hells’ is made plural because in this world there are several hells for the seven sins.

4. Ms worms are just there. They are there for a reason....that will not be explained due to spoilers ;)

5. Yes! The first world. I only mentioned it once as I didn’t want to put to much light on it before I properly developed it. The first world is basically…our world. The way this world work is that there was a time where humans weren’t always here. But then suddenly, they were and they came in very large numbers. I won’t explain it that much as it won’t come up often in the story but there will be an explanation!

6. S being…well, S. They didn’t speak to a lot of people on there hunts for their bounty. What’s a constant thing in the trees they would hide in? Birds. S would often talk to birds or any other living creature in there surrounding area on hunts because they were lonely. This will come up in detail in their own separate route!

7. There are definitely a lot more humans than non-humans, especially in chapter one and future chapters. The non-humans are pushed out of the village while the humans live in the safer areas. Can’t explain in detail due to spoilers.

8. Alright…so, Bs leg…..yeah, that was just a writing error 😅 Bs leg was a birth defect. I first planned on having the monster in the woods take there leg, but decided it wouldn’t make any sense for their character. Many people believe that B lost their leg in the prologue, when it was already gone in the first place. It’s probably due to that error so I apologize!! The wound B got in the prologue was just a nasty scar on their back!

I think some people mad about the arm is not necessarily about the fact that Ayo disabling the arm itself, it's more of the fact that it was not necessary and the fact that Bucky had no idea they can do that. If I were to be honest, I think it was not that necessary because Ayo is well capable of taking him down without having to disarm him and she is definitely not threatened by him. I think what some people find upsetting about that scene is the fact that it kinda comes off as Ayo putting Bucky in a position where it would make him feel like he doesn't have full control of his own body after all. The Wakandans, especially Ayo, T'Challa and Shuri had every right to feel betrayed and upset but the point is they should have told Bucky about how the arm can easily be disabled like that, they didn't know Bucky was going to set Zemo free when they gave him the arm and regardless of the things they have done for him and if they were ones who gave him the arm, they should have at least told him about it, because it's connected to him, it's a part of HIS body. It doesn't matter if it was necessary to disarm him or not, the point is they should have told him about it because apart from the fact that it's his body and that it was a bit insensitive given his history, it's also a point of vulnerability, and the fact that she did it in front of Walker (and possibly Zemo) --- people who can easily turn on Bucky, could easily that to their advantage and attempt to disable it themselves. Just my thoughts on it.

I’m going to use this long-ass reply to address this stuff with Ayo and also voice some thoughts I’ve had over the past few weeks seeing people paint Bucky into being this complete soft and harmless human that needs 25-7 protection which I don’t jive with — and this is me, a complete Bucky stan.

Many moons ago, I saw a post that compared 1940s Bucky moving with stealth and a loaded gun on the train to the Winter Soldier doing the same thing, essentially discussing the similarities and debating how much of non-brainwashed Bucky was in the Soldier. And I think the fandom forgets or chooses to neglect the following when painting him as this fragile, peace-loving guy:

Bucky was an incredibly skilled sniper in the United States Army. His job is to eliminate threats in the most efficient way possible, and he’s good at it. HYDRA gets their hands on him and + the serum, this gets magnified. It wasn’t like HYDRA turned him into someone with the ability and mental capacity to kill — that was already there. The brainwashing and torture just carved out the rest of him to leave those honed skills and an amplified ruthlessness with no moral issues, no sense of self to contend with. That ruthlessness is part of Bucky, whether people like it or not.

When Bucky is outside of HYDRA for the first time and hiding in Civil War and gets attacked, he’s so brutal in his actions that Steve Rogers, the man who literally was ready to die to save Bucky and free him when no one else believed in the good in him, intervenes because “Buck, you’re going to kill someone.” Bucky responds that he’s not going to kill anyone, but the fact remains: with or without HYDRA control, Bucky has a strong capacity for violence that hovers on brutality — again, what’s the most efficient way to eliminate or neutralize a threat? Like, I don’t want to kill you, but I’ll knock your ass out with cinder blocks to the chest.

Bucky has a good heart, he’s loyal, he’s smart, he’s caring, he’s the longest-standing POW in history and was turned into a slave for decades, put through unimaginable trauma and torture and horror with no escape. Bucky is also a strong and incredibly skilled super soldier who has a bionic arm, is a trained sniper, is unnervingly precise with knives, and self-describes himself as “semi-stable.” Zemo notes in the bar that “it didn’t take Bucky long to get back into form,” and he’s right because the ruthlessness and skill of the Winter Soldier is a part of him and always has been. We see it when he has his hand around Zemo’s neck and tells him he will kill him, when he rips the glass from his hand and throws it across the room.

And I’m sure the Wakandans know all this about Bucky, this light and his ability for hard-to-stop violence, whether from talking to Steve and Bucky or doing their own homework. And they still choose to help him out of the goodness of their hearts because he’s been put through hell and they believe they have the capacity to help him and it’s the right thing to do — they’re betting more on those positive attributes. And they put a failsafe on his arm, a literal weapon, and chose not to tell him. You know why I think that shows how much they did care about him? Because they could’ve blatantly come out and said “Hey, we don’t trust you,” and hurt him outright, but they didn’t because they’re betting on the light in Bucky to outweigh the dark or any future manipulation. That it’s a worst-case scenario function they hope to never have to use — so they’re prepared if shit hits the fan, and if it doesn’t, Bucky doesn’t have to be hurt feeling like he can’t be trusted. I see no issues here, they’re just being cautious.

Now coming to Ayo, my QUEEN Ayo. From that beautiful, beautiful opening scene, we get to see her support, her reassurance, her belief that Bucky will be able to work through this, even when he doesn’t believe it himself. She watches him fight and struggle and cry, and you can feel the hope in her and how moved she is when she gets to tell him it worked, he did it — he’s free. And she says it not once, but twice. And you can hear not just the comfort, but the PRIDE and warmth in her voice directed to him, who I’m sure she’s watched throughout the whole deprogramming process and gotten to know and is happy to see him work through the pain and come out on the other side.

And then she sees that same individual make a decision in freeing Zemo that she perceives as a “fuck you” not just to her country, but to her, someone who was charged with protecting her king. She could’ve just disarmed Bucky the second they met up, but she doesn’t. She takes the time to explain her side and her feelings, her guilt and her shame, and basically implies that she feels betrayed by Bucky because Wakanda helped him and now he’s doing something that’s hurting her country. And still, she doesn’t attack or just go get Zemo. She gives Bucky the benefit of the doubt and a whole 8-hour American workday to do what he has to do because again, she believes in the best of him. And then that time limit runs up, and he chooses to get in her way.

And that’s the final straw. She’s angry, she’s guilty, she’s frustrated, and she feels betrayed hurt by someone I think she did respect and care about, someone whom she worked with and helped and supported when he was his most vulnerable. Did she “need” to disarm the arm to fight Bucky? Probably not. But is she doing it in the heat of battle and adrenaline and a whole bucket ton of emotions, including what she sees as the White Wolf blatantly disrespecting her country and her as a person and even friend and she just says fuck it, I’m done? You hurt us and me, and I’m going to hurt you back? Oh yeah. And Bucky looks shocked, not because he’s a poor fragile baby and “oh no, my arm, how could you?? my TrAumA”, but in the dual realization of “oh shit, how’d you do that?!” and “oh shit, I think I crossed a line here.” And also, I don’t think a single person in that room would be able to recreate the disabling sequence other than Ayo — it’s way too targeted and specific for someone like Walker to pick it up in the whole three seconds it took.

People need to stop reducing characters to these black and white extremes of soft and hard, of good and bad. Doing so completely devalues and ignores the REALITY of the complexity of being human, and Bucky and Ayo are both great examples of that played by stellar actors who portray that range and depth extremely well. End of the day, my thought is that the failsafe in the arm was justified and people need to stop coming for Ayo based on this ridiculous narrative that Bucky is too traumatized and sensitive and too much of a fave to ever be challenged or he’ll explode into dust. Boy deserves a life of freedom and healing and mental health support, but he’s also still a formidable opponent with the capacity for violence and skillset to kill. People are more than one thing.

Why Isaiah is so important.

Isaiah was so important in showing the difference in treatment between white soldiers and black soldiers after they came back to America. Sam saw and understood immediately what had happened. Bucky didn’t get it like Sam did.

It’s a repeated story from the American Civil War, to both World Wars, to the Korean war, to right now. White soldiers come home and are treated as war hero's and are rewarded for their service. Meanwhile black soldiers and any nonwhites are screwed over. They don’t get the benefits. They don’t get treated as hero’s. They get forgotten.

I think they were also strongly referencing the “Tuskegee Study of Untreated Syphilis in the Negro Male” [https://www.cdc.gov/tuskegee/timeline.htm] with Isaiah. In which black men with Syphilis were told they were being treated for the disease and were not. The institute took blood and tissue samples and did not inform the men or their families what was actually happening for 40 years. And it was only because of public outcry that the study was stopped.

Isaiah was important because he shows how a black hero is treated. And Sam knows how black hero's are treated. That is a heavy aspect of Sam taking up the mantel that Bucky doesn’t understand. 

I really hope that they will explore this more and address it head on.
