what broke the world was gabriel agreste's victim complex and manipulative as hell tendencies that took advantage of his son and his girlfriend, who were so avidly in love and happy.

the bigger the light, the darker the shadow, and the heavier darkness it leaves behind if it's taken away.

gabriel agreste saw that and forcibly removed marinette from adrien, ultimately learning that his son was one half of Paris' superhero couple, deducing the girl in question must be the other.

gabriel saw a great opportunity, only for it to turn into an even greater one in the span of a few lucky seconds.

it backfired later, ironically because adrien is so good of a person, but that only further proves that this boy and this girl with a feeling so pure and mutual in the meddling hands of a man so desperate to get back what was lost he'd stomp all over his or anyone else's moral compass is the bad part.
