btw i never told u how important is to me that dimitri lost his sense of taste. bc when i had an eating disorder i did lose my sense of taste too. (its awful. imagine everytime you eat something all you can taste is dry sand. how am i supposed to improve my relationship with food if every part of my being refuse to enjoy it?) but thanks to my partner, who since the beginning of our relationship always cooked for me with care, making me try all different spices and recipes, (and with a lot of therapy as well,) i slowly got back my sense of taste, and so i defeated my ed. and i enjoy food now! a lot! so i like to think that post-game, byleth's love and care help dimitri get back his sense of taste, and hes finally able to taste his beloved cheese back. i plan to write a small fluff oneshot about this in the future. i love dima i want him to be happy :3

Summary: How Edelgard, Hubert, Seteth, Hanneman, and Rhea react to having an easily flustered lover.

༓Edelgard von Hresvelg  She doesn’t mind. It’s just how you are. But Edelgard is a very cool and reliable woman, and so used to taking responsibility that she doesn’t typically realize what she has said or done until you blush, making her flustered in return. A few examples are when you were hurt and she effortlessly lifted you in bridal style or when she shielded you with her body, trapping and pinning you against the wall.

༓Hubert von Vestra  If he is being honest Hubert finds it so amusing that he actively tries to see you become flustered, a devilish smirk on his face whenever he does it. He doesn’t get too flustered by things or not as easily as you do. However, the things he will do to get a reaction out of you is bushing his hand or fingers against your skin that’s so faint it is a ghostly touch, leaving goosebumps behind. Or kisses he promised to give you but makes you work for it instead with a smirk.

༓Seteth  He doesn’t get nearly as flustered as Edelgard or Hanneman although depending on how intimate the situation is between the two of you will make him blush. But there is something so cute with how you react that it makes him subconsciously more flirtatious, more heart-racing behavior. Stolen moments are hidden away in a dark corner of the room to not get caught by others as he sneaks kisses, touches, and low whispers against your ears. Each reaction makes him chuckle in response.

༓Hanneman von Essar  Unless told why your face is often blushing it will take him a while because Hanneman can’t see someone getting flustered over his dorky self. Although if told or once he realizes it, he’ll blush as well especially if you are the one who told him. Hanneman almost feels like an awkward schoolboy who trips over his words when you respond to his actions. He is too much of a gentleman to attempt to make you react like this on purpose.

༓Rhea  Likewise to Seteth and Hubert, she finds it quite adorable. She loves your reactions so much that compared to the others, she is more aggressive, actively trying to make you a mess. Soft touches on your skin that are followed by kisses or blowing air against your ears. One favorite of Rhea’s is kissing you after she or you had something sweet to eat, it makes her almost want to eat you, making her lick your lips a little. Anyone would be shocked to see her behavior but if anyone was to comment on it, the only reply from Rhea is a closed-eye smile because it’s nearly impossible to fluster her.

A big part of Adrestian culture is the way that many nobles don’t seem to take their duties particularly seriously (don’t worry, we’ll talk about Ferdinand). I’ve always imagined that, of the three countries, Adrestia is the one with the largest degree of class inequality, meaning commoners have very few opportunities to rise up. Consequently, the nobles have become complacent in their positions as, if the commoners have no opportunities, they have no way to threaten the nobles. And for this reason, many Adrestian nobles take their positions for granted and ignore their noble duties.

First, I want to look at the other countries and the duties their nobles feel, starting with Faerghus (still have no idea how to spell that so hopefully I got it right). Ingrid is planning to marry for money to help her people who are suffering from a famine, Felix has a paralogue where he goes to protect his people and says to his dad “we were protecting your subjects, not your ego,” and Sylvain has a paralogue where he goes to defend his territory from thieves. Now, lets look at Leicester nobles. Lorenz obviously takes his duties seriously and, while Hilda may not take hers seriously, we know her brother Holst is constantly putting himself on the front lines to protect his territory from the Almyrans.

Looking at the Adrestians, most of the nobles seem to just not really care about their responsibilities. Linhardt wishes to ignore his responsibilities, Caspar’s older brother who is set to inherit his father’s position is stated to be a lazy jerk, Bernadetta isn’t worried about her noble position, Hubert is only concerned with his duties to Edelgard not his country, while Petra cares about her position she is not Adrestian so it doesn’t count. (I’m not talking about any of the lords for this because I just don’t really feel like getting into it).

This leaves the one exception to the rule: Ferdinand. A good amount of his dialogue, especially early game, revolves around him talking about his “noble duties” and how he must fulfill them. So surely, this means Adrestian nobles must take their responsibilities seriously? Except, look at how he’s treated. Everybody, or at least close to everybody, in the Black Eagles house looks down on Ferdinand for his attitude. Obviously, his perspective is not perfect, but he’s the one Adrestian noble attending the academy who is actively trying to do right by his people, and he is getting berated. So obviously his behavior is not the norm. All this put together indicates that there is a culture in Adrestia where nobles only look out for themselves to a degree much more extreme than the other two countries.

Something I've been thinking about lately:

Hubert spending some of his spare moments helping out the healers of the Black Eagle strike force, namely as a toxicologist and apothecary. Someone ate something weird and now they're sick and it's getting worse? Ask Hubert, he'll know how to try and reverse it if it can be done. Need a simple medicine made? Hubert can do it. He enjoys it too, even if he won't directly admit it, as he feels like it helps him atone for the harm he does with his poisons.

Also, if someone gets hurt in battle and there's no healer nearby, Hubert knows enough first aid to at least try and stem the bleeding until an actual healer gets there. And you can bet he won't leave until that happens, either.

This is a certified fire emblem headcanon info dump post . Bullet points copied and pasted from my notes app for the most part so sorry everyone if the formatting or grammar or something is weird

Exactly how the Nabateans work isn’t ever fully explained in game so this is. My take on it based on hints from the game and the characters’ relationships with each other and with Sothis:

-Sothis is an otherworldly alien being who DID come from far beyond the stars. Her lifespan is unfathomably long compared to an average human’s (if not just infinite/indefinite. I imagine as long as her home star shines she could live forever) and her godly power is basically like. An average human’s ability to wield magic times one bajillion. Naturally just has More Magic.

-She left the rest of her kind behind to visit earth and settle there but she doesn’t talk very much about her life before earth to anyone even her closest family. She greatly prefers life on earth and forming human connections to… whatever was going on back on the blue sea star.

-She created her children not by giving birth but like the games said . With her blood. She can just sculpt a human form from Anything, press together a crest stone, and blood-let on it a little bit, and badda bing badda boom new Nabatean. A Nabatean’s abilities, dragon form, and personality can be influenced by what she created their vessels out of. The first ones were created from the clay and mud of the earth she landed on hence the name Nabatean meaning earth dragon lol.

-Sothis DID love and want to watch over humanity, despite not being omnipotent and all-powerful like the Church claims. Creating her children and living among them and humans side by side was sort of her way of expressing that love.

-Despite not claiming to be omnipotent and all-powerful, Sothis’s strange appearance and abilities lead the people of Fodlan to begin calling her a goddess and worshipping her, which she happily accepted and encouraged. The idea that she watches over all life from above and is the arbiter of every soul came along with the church after she died (and is not really true). During her lifetime, she was just worshipped and was the queen of Zanado

-Sothis can create and bring life to a Nabatean at any age/stage of life. Rhea is one of the few she created as a baby rather than a fully grown adult, and she raised her as her own as a result.

-Seteth and his brothers are one of many “batches” of Nabateans made as adults and as a result they aren’t nearly as close to Sothis as Rhea is/was.

-Specifically, Macuil seems to even resent Sothis as he mentions byleth “stinking” of her during his battle. I imagine he’s the eldest brother and resents her for seemingly “abandoning” him to watch his brothers alone when others like Rhea got centuries of her time, love, and attention.

-Nabateans are all created by Sothis and most of them view her as a mother or at least a distant family member/matriarch figure but unless specifically made by Sothis to be siblings (as Seteth and his brothers were. Made as a matching set.) Nabateans aren’t actually related to each other. Sothis travelled all over Fodlan and probably other parts of the world too and created countless sets of Nabateans based on all different types of people. She would often make a few sets/unrelated individuals at once so that her creations/children could have like-minded company.

-Flayn’s mom/Seteth’s wife was also a Nabatean but from another “clan” and therefore yknow not his sister. Rhea Seteth and Flayn only really see each other as family in 3h because they are the last of their kind and feel the need to bond together for safety.

-Seteth and his brothers were based on whatever the Fodlan equivalent of Celtic people is. Rhea was made as a baby for Sothis to raise herself and is made more closely in her image than most of the others.

-Nabateans DO age, but very veeerryyy slowly. Rhea was pretty young, about the equivalent of 19 when Sothis was killed and the war of heroes started. By the time 3H canon begins, she’s about the equivalent of 38-41-ish. Seteth is about 40 in human years too, though he’s actually much younger than Rhea because he was created after her but was created as a young adult. Flayn is the equivalent of 15. Was only like 12 when she was injured and fell asleep back in the day.

-Sothis’s body, like when she was alive properly, will never die/rot so long as the blue star shines. However, the other Nabatean’s bodies DO rot but again. Veeerrryyy slowly. It would take centuries before they’d start to smell off.

-Other Nabateans, especially ones created later who weren’t raised and taught how to use their power by Sothis herself are not nearly as powerful as she was. Rhea is one of the strongest and was raised by Sothis personally but even she can’t control herself and goes crazy if she overuses her dragon form too much.

-Rhea was able to create Sitri/the other failed mom vessels because she was taught how to by Sothis. Probably watched her create many other Nabateans. However, since she is not nearly as powerful as her mother (and was just reusing the crest stone of a dead woman), Rhea’s vessels are far more fragile/sickly and humanlike. Most of them died very shortly after being created from their bodies basically being unable to sustain themselves. Sitri was pretty sickly and feeble but she was actually the healthiest and longest living one

-If not properly utilized and honed, Nabatean’s magic also fades over time, hence how Seteth’s brothers are now basically stuck as dragons. They didn’t transform for so long that they got rusty and probably can’t anymore.

subjecting you all to some sad headcanons i've been thinking about today re: Rodrigue's rushed funeral in Azure Moon.

In the aftermath of the Battle at Gronder Field, there's no time to hold a funeral, let alone take Rodrigue's body back to the ancestral tomb where it belongs. Burying him alone at Garreg Mach is the best they can do.

Felix wants to dig the grave himself. Sylvain understands that he needs to grieve in his own way, and Dimitri sees this as a sort of atonement - giving up the chance to help is one of the few things he can do for Felix. Ingrid, however, can't accept that. Rodrigue was as much a father to her as he was to Felix (and would have actually become her father-in-law, if not for the Tragedy of Duscur). In the end, Felix is forced to relent, and they dig together until their hands bleed.

As the acting archbishop, Byleth, with Seteth's help, performs the basic funeral rites dictated by the faith. Only the Blue Lions and closest advisors are there. Ingrid and Dimitri (and Flayn, who knows this pain very well and has had enough of war and loss to last a thousand lifetimes) sob through the entire thing.

Mercedes and Annette scrounge up anything they can possibly find in wartime to make the best sweets for cheering everyone up as soon as the hasty funeral is over. It's not very effective, but the gesture is what counts.

Beyond just the traditional funeral rites from the Church of Seiros, Faeghus has old rituals of its own that have hung on in the northeast and in the ancient houses for as long as anyone can remember. After everyone else has left, Gilbert performs them himself. He knows them by heart; after his many decades as a knight in service to the royal family, it's not the first time. He doesn't realize Felix is watching.

Since the body is buried at Garreg Mach, only Rodrigue’s armor and lance can actually be taken back to Fraldarius - just like his firstborn son. Felix can't leave the army at a time like this, so he sends them with a letter to his mother, and is secretly glad he doesn't have to be the one to deliver the news.

A year later, when the war has ended and rebuilding efforts are in full swing, the whole class reunites in Fraldarius, where they finally hold a complete and proper funeral. Felix, adjusting surprisingly well to all his new duties as duke, performs the traditional rituals himself, as taught to him by Gilbert. Ingrid and Dimitri sob through the entire thing, and this time the sweets from Annette and Mercedes are a little more effective at cheering people up.

Bonus: Rodrigue and Glenn aren't the first coffins in the Fraldarius vault to be missing bodies, and everyone knows they won't be the last.

I have always thought Three Houses would be tons more interesting if Byleth was actually Rhea's child. Like, girl is actually a nabatean with her own original crest. I mean both Rhea and Jeralt already have huge toxic ex energy. The new profesor is the archbishop's heir and was kidnapped by her dad at birth: the political implications, the drama!!!

If Rhea discovered her daughter was alive all this time... Byleth's custody battle would have a body count.

Summary: Yuri as a roommate in general, as a platonic roommate and as a romantic roommate,

[ General ] Yuri as a roommate is an odd experience because he barely lets you know anything about him aside from what he has shown you. Yuri is fashionable and has a small group of friends, and is such a late-night owl that when he greets you in the morning is the time Yuri is going to bed as you get up.

He is strict as a roommate. Chores are divided but if someone makes a mess they have to clean it up regardless if it is on their chore list. No parties in the shared apartment because Yuri doesn’t trust people to not go through his room although he is fine with going to parties in other places. 

But the major rule is that neither of you is allowed to involve yourself in the other’s personal life unless invited. The only time that it’s allowed is if you or he is bringing someone over and you text each other to let the other know.

Once the two of you are closer and hang out, it will have to be in the afternoon as anything earlier makes Yuri want to die. You have to remember Yuri is a night owl through and through. As such becoming closer, you meet Yuri’s friends and spend time with them whenever invited along. It’s at this point that Yuri is bringing you more into his own private life.

[ Platonic ] Originally Yuri didn’t let you in his bedroom, but after time together, Yuri started to leave his door open whenever he was awake as a silent invitation to let you know that you’re welcome. However, Yuri rarely hangs out in your bedroom less directly asked to come into your room which results in a laugh.

If there are days or nights when neither of you nor Yuri want to be alone, often both of you will hang out in the living room with some background white noise. Most times the white noise is a boring movie or TV show that plays in the background as you talk to each other long into the night.

On the subject of movies, every Sunday has become the official movie and game night tradition. It started due to being snowed in on a bad snowstorm in December late Sunday afternoon, trapping Yuri with you. Neither can remember who suggested movies and games but it had been the only way to pass the time. It had been so enjoyable that it became a weekend night routine.

If neither of you is in the mood for movies, board games are the other pick. Typically Uno or Go-fish as the default choices because those are Yuri's favorite. Partly due to your reactions being hilarious to him.

[ Romantic ] On very late nights beyond your typical sleep time for one reason or another, Yuri keeps you company. Those very late nights are when he is most open with you. The first night it happened you had accidentally fallen asleep only to wake up with a blanket placed over you that was not there before.

Whenever it happened again, as it tended to, the blanket Yuri put on you would end up being replaced by his jacket. If you say something first, Yuri will never pay attention to his actions.

It's unknown to you but some of Yuri's friends will tease or make jokes about his behavior about how you get special treatment. With movie nights, how Yuri remembers what you like and dislikes, and that he had given you his favorite jacket. Yuri will roll his eyes and lie about how it’s not that deep, but a soft smile that Yuri tries to hide will show up on days whenever he catches sight of you wearing the jacket.

When the time comes for Yuri to act on his feelings it’s hard for you to tell because he didn’t behave too differently as before. Granted the choice of flirtatious phrases would normally give it away if Yuri didn’t subconsciously treat you the same as before.

Yuri’s not aware how he had acted previously with the kind actions, the affectionate way Yuri talked to you nor his gentle touches brushing against your skin. Part of it is frustrating yet still amusing by the fact you hadn’t caught on.

very mild headcanon but i like to believe that byleth didn't really do much if any journaling before joining garegg mach. when they gave him a journal for scheduling/finances/school notes/etc, he started actually journaling for the first time, and found that it was actually kind of nice to put his feelings down somewhere [especially considering his proclivity for keeping quiet normally]. writing was a good way for him to figure out a lot of his mental + emotional hangups and ultimately helped him become more open about communicating his feelings. Having something positive to write about DEFINITELY helped, since pre-academy it would have been a lot of the same stuff and also fairly negative. but now he journals and he's got happy stuff to write about. :)
