eye avatar who feeds on the gossip and secrets of the people in his small town

slaughter victim (veteran) turned avatar (serial killer)

stranger avatar who embodies the fear of running into someone you never want to see again by adopting the visage of said person (idea from @melandrops)

end avatar based off of the washer at the ford/bean-nighe (a passive omen of death rather than an active bringer of it)

flesh avatar who performs gender-affirming surgeries on people with transphobic families (and uses the "disposed of" materials from said surgeries to build a "child" of sorts)

spiral avatar who turns horrors from people's nightmares into real things

inclement weather-themed desolation avatar (hurricanes, blizzards, tornadoes)

dark avatar who drags people into caves and mutates them to resemble cave-dwelling creatures (colorless skin, no eyes, etc.) until they are barely human anymore

buried avatar who lives at the bottom of the ocean and sabotages submarines/drowns divers

web avatar matchmaker who pulls people into bad relationships

vast avatar who untethers people from gravity and either lets them float endlessly upward or who makes them fall to their death (it depends on their mood)

hunt avatar who turns prey animals into predators and vice versa

extremophile extinction avatar who leads a doomsday cult

corruption avatar who withers/decays/erodes anything they touch

lonely avatar who disappears lone hikers in deep wilderness

bonus: spiral avatar who is a compulsive liar, but whose lies become true for whoever they tell them to

I mourn that there wasn't canon TMA content where all the fear avatars hung out, went to parties etc. Like tea on Tuesdays where they all commiserate about the horrors, it's the only time any of them ever get along they have one day where they all agree it's just a gossip/fear session, they take turns hosting.

I like the idea of Jon and Martin waking up somewhere else but I like the idea more if all the avatars are pulled through to somewhere else. My main reasons for this are

Annabelle Cane, Oliver Banks, and that dark avatar kid I don’t remember the name of.

Annabelle for obvious reasons she can be the friend/enemy. Just showing up for the drama. Oliver banks for the funny Martin jealousy and also he’s there for the drama. Last but not least the dark avatar child because Martin and Jon stepping in to be his avatar uncles.

Hot take (neutral take?): The faceless old woman who secretly lives in your home is the epitome of a web avatar. She literally spends her whole existence post-Russia influencing people. The parts where she talks to Craig, her entire monologue is about all the things she’s doing to get him together with someone who will have a kid. Sometimes her motives are very clear, like when she’s trying to win the election and she threatens the listener. Sometimes she’s not, like most of what happens in the book.

People in the TMA fandom have asked before if the fear you follow is the one you fear or th one you like the most and I think the answer is a both.

As a Vaster, I always had a fear of heights and the idea of feeling small makes my skin crawl, but it intrigues me to no end. I want to go bungee jumping and sky diving and have a fascination with space. I crave the adrenaline it gives and the feeling the fear gives.

Maybe I have some wires crossed, but I think it makes the most sense.

I saw a post last week that said that we had 2 fear avatars now. And it's hilarious how cringe fail they both are.

But I wanna say this is Ink5oul and Delia (? Deirdre?) Erasure.

That episode kinda fucked me up. But how weirdly hilariously menacing to think there's this fear avatar thata just a tattooing influencer with shitty dubstep and causes horrific dysphoria.... and a skeletal woman with a palette knife "hugging" her roommates.

perpetual thought in my head is the divide between what makes someone an avatar and a person.

Avatars being driven purely to satisfy their hunger and the hunger of their fear versus them as a person and still living and experiencing. Avatars often in the series are synonymous with monsters and at the same time they're still people just trying to survive.

Fear avatars in ORV. They are just incarnations with extra steps and a hyper-fixation on some fucked up shit. The fear entities are the table in the school lunchroom that everyone avoids. They are considered evil by Eden but Eden would much rather fuck around and find out with the other sources of evil.

Opens with a scene like the opening of the lion king but with tape recorder sounds in the background.

Annabelle stands tall holding a smol Jon like the scrunkly wet cat he is. Elias walks up and smears green paint on his forehead. Avatars of the other fears come up in turns and smear some paint/color/mark on Jon’s forehead.

When Jon’s been marked by all the entities, Annabelle lifts him up into the air, and the view shifts to the fears below. A door opens in the sky, screams fill the air, and the screen goes dark.

Smol Jon suddenly appears and green eyes open all around him, within him, and on him; he looks like a biblically accurate angel.
