Ah, no! You've got it wrong! I'm not gathering grass like this because I'm having trouble with money!

When I got on the phone with my family, we happened to talk about how we used to eat grass a lot when I was younger.

And then I just suddenly craved that nostalgic taste so I came here to pick these up. I normally eat properly, so please don't worry that much about it~

Rinne: Oh, so that's it? You made me uncharacteristically nervous for a sec there.

Hajime: I'm sorry for making you worry.

Rinne: Nah, don't mind it. My fault for jumpin' to conclusions so fast.

In fact, those grass growin' out there are delicious too. I also used to forage for them back when I was a li'l boy so I get ya, Hajime-kun.

I even used to go to the mountains to pick up some edible wild plants.

Thanks to that, I got some basic stuff down when it comes to edible grass. This one and this one can be eaten. This one's not. This one's edible too, but it's not really good.

Hajime: Wow! You didn't miss any! You're really knowledgeable about them!

Rinne: Hehe, told ya right? This ol' me won't ever lie ♪

This one's tasty if you blanch it a little. And this one's something that only Niki could munch on.

Hajime: Huh?! Shiina-senpai can eat this? I had an upset stomach when I ate this one by mistake.

Rinne: Yeah, same here. After eating it, I felt like dyin' the next day—couldn't move at all. But that guy's all fine and dandy.

Maybe it's got somethin' that only his stomach can digest. He's the one who cooked it, after all.

Hajime: Shiina-senpai is really good with cooking, isn't he? ♪

Rinne: Yeah. That guy's real good with his hands when it comes to food. Everything he makes is delicious. When I get home, I'll have him cook for me; that's why I got a lot of stuff here with me.

Hajime: Oh, that's indeed a lot. Let's see… Cheese, ketchup… There's also salami and basil… Are you planning to make pizza?

Rinne: Spot on ♪ Niki's pizza's always bangin', y'know? I end up eating too much if I don't watch it.

[1] “Majime” / まじめ = lit. means as a person who’s earnestly sincere and honest, and therefore takes things seriously at its face value. It’s a syllable off Hajime’s name, which makes it funnier given how Rinne has a penchant for giving silly nicknames to people he encounters.

Also can I just point out how Hiiro, who’s actually Hajime’s classmate and therefore theoretically closer to him, calls him “Shino-kun” (last name) while Rinne calls him “Hajime-kun” (first name) right off the bat. I just think his shamelessness is hilarious LOL

I haven't seen him since he left homeroom, actually. He said he was going to the garden today or something, and left the classroom early.

Rinne: So while Hina's out tending to crops, Yuta-kun's droppin' by the arcade on the way back from school.

You called me a good-for-nothing earlier, but taking a detour to the arcade sounds pretty irresponsible to me, y'know!

Yuuta: What~? This stuff's normal. You can buy and eat at the shopping district, and there's even a live house here you can go to.

Hiiro-kun stops by places on the way back from school, too. Don’t you know about that?

Rinne: ...He tells me plenty about how bright and fun school life is, but he's never told me about his after-school detours.

Yuuta: I’m guessing Aniki takes him around places, since they’re both roommates.

He probably said something like, "I’m sure you got used to school by now! So let’s head on to the next step!"

Rinne: I can imagine that. So have you two been getting along with that lil' brother of mine by doing stuff like that with him?

Yuuta: Yep, we get along. Our class as a whole is pretty close in general.

During the last exam period, we would all stay after class and study together. But this one time, at some point, Aniki sneaked out...

By the time I noticed, he’d gone and bought soda for everybody.

Knowing Aniki, he probably just did it 'cuz he wanted to take a break, really.

(...Wait, at what point did I start talking about Aniki? Why should I bother telling Rinne-senpai all this, anyway?)

Rinne: Why'd ya stop? What happened after that? I wanna hear stuff about homeroom and class duties too.

Yuuta: Can't you just ask Hiiro-kun directly instead of me? What’s so interesting about homeroom and class duties in the first place—

Oh, that reminds me. Our class has this new craze where the person in charge of class duties will leave a note in a journal for the person on duty the next day.

Aniki started getting really into it, so he began leaving riddles and making it impossible to read without decoding the message!

(Huh? I started talking about Aniki again. I guess I can try telling him about what Hiiro-kun wrote...)

Rinne: ...Oh, they've got a new medal game[4] here! Yuta-kun, c'mere!

Yuuta: Eh? Why are we going along with what you want?! I thought you told me to continue my stories...!

Rinne: Hey, it's fine! Look, I'll give ya half of the medals I just bought, so let’s play another match! ♪

Yuuta: What do you mean by that?

Rinne: Let's see who can earn more medals in thirty minutes. I gotcha some soda, so now you gotta go for round two!

Yuuta: You told me you weren’t going to do something like this…

(First he pesters me to talk to him, then he says he wants to listen to me, but stops listening halfway.)

Fighting stands, or battle tables (対戦台), are back-to back arcade games commonly found in Japan. They're popular for fighting games, and instead of the side-by-side versus modes often found in overseas arcades, the opponents will stand on opposing sides of a machine. You can't see who you're fighting against on the other side, which is a feature of this set-up.

Fun fact! Yuuta plays this same game with the same character in the !-era story, “Virtual Offense and Defence”, which is associated with this card.

In the card's illustration, you can see that he gets ginger ale!

Medal games are a type of arcade game commonly found in Japan, where money is traded for medals or tokens, which can then be played in games in exchange for more medals. They simulate gambling and are often modeled off of poker, pachinko, and slots, hence Rinne's particular interest.

A side effect of a calcium deficiency (hypocalcemia) can cause someone to act more irritable. The more you know!

Friends, detours , on the way home

Episode 1

Tsukasa: (I'm in trouble... I know it's bad manner using my smartphone while having a meal but I'm distracted by my thoughts hence I'm not able to focus on my meal.)

(I'll finish this quickly and move to a quiet place.)

(.. but Ideas doesn't always come when you're alone, right?)

(Even last night, I dozed off in the Book Room thinking about it.)

(Tenshouin-oniisama who happened to passed by was about to cover me with blanket but before I knew I left in a hurry because I felt sorry and embarrased)

(Everything that I was thinking about disappeared hence I go back to square one.)

(*sigh...What should I do..)

Sora: Tsuka-chan, Konnichiwa! Sora is looking for a vacant seat~ Can I share a seat with you?

Tsukasa: Harukawa-kun, sure go ahead.

Sora: Haha~ Thank you! Tsuka-chan is always kind~

But its weird~ Tsuka-chan's "color" doesn't change much no matter what, but today you have a "color" that is unsteady.

Are you in a bad mood? Sweets are always the best when you are irritated, would you like to share the Fruit Sandwich Sora bought~?

Tsukasa: Fruit Sandwich... it looks delicious but I will have to decline, I appreciate the offer though, thank you.

Sora: Of course! FPS, TPS , there's a lot of shooting games available~

Mhm! The preparations for the snacks and tea are perfect. These really are must-haves when you want to watch a movie.

Tori-kun always gets delighted and says everything is delicious, so I admit I might have gone a little overboard with the preparations...

Now all that's left is to choose which movie to watch.

(Hmm… I got so excited that I brought anything and everything that caught my eye though…)

Seeing all of these movies isn't really possible with the time we have, huh…

It might be best to pick around two to three movies from this bunch before Tori-kun arrives.

Let's see... I wonder which ones should I pick…?

This one's got great reviews and I've been curious to see it for a while now. It's also something mainstream, so this one might be a great first choice.

And then… oh. I picked this one because this felt like something that Tori-kun would like. Let's put this one up too.

And this one's a movie that I really like and wanted to share with Tori-kun. We might as well see it together.

Mhm. Up next is… oh! I did pick an anime featuring a story about a dog! Since Tori-kun loves dogs, I figured he'll be happy to see this one. Let's put it here then…
