hi!! this agere blog has really helped me and I wanted to ask for some advice, but its okay if you dont want to answer. I only found out that I regress this year, due to trauma, and it's still confusing and scary to me, and I'm really insecure and ashamed about it. I made a blog for it and it has helped me a lot to start accepting it, as well as your blog and others. But im still really scared of being "outed" or people who I know finding out and judging me. sometimes I post agere art and theres been a couple where someone has recognised my style and asked me (on my main) about it. It wasnt anything mean, all positive, but I really didnt like it. I have in my bio that if you recognise me then dont say anything but that didnt stop it. I dont know what to do but i dont want to isolate myself more from the agere community. Have you dealt with something like this before?

I'm honored you trust me with this question, and feel free to dm me if you'd like to talk one on one! As for advice, I've been in your shoes before. When I first started this blog, I was so afraid someone might find it that I changed my whole style. But over time, it started to become less fun and more exhausting. Eventually I started using my regular style, and people did recognize it. I got a few asks or messages about it, and at first I was scared. I just ignored them or blocked them. And honestly, I still kinda just ignore them is they're on anon lol. But I also started telling them that it was me, and universally I got good responses!

I know it's hard, and it sucks that people aren't respecting your boundaries. That's a problem with them, not with you. My best advice is to embrace it even though it's scary. In my experience, people have been a lot more open minded and accepting than I expected. I started this blog as a secret, but now I've told pretty much all of my loved ones. All of them were just happy that I was doing something that made me feel safe. If anything, remember this: this is a part of you that is meant to help you. It's meant to make you feel safe, and process your emotions. That is a good thing. What you are doing is not bad, and if people think it is, they're wrong. People being wrong about you or judging you unfairly says nothing of you're actual worth. I know it seems scary right now, but as you start to accept this part of yourself, it will be easier and easier to share it. The people you love want you to be happy, remember that.

I hope I could be a bit helpful. I don't usually give advice but this spoke to me, because I've had the same experience. I hope things get easier for you soon ❤️

I am not seeking any validation. I was wrongly portrayed by someone here. So I just wanted to make my stand clear. That's all. What would I gain by being acknowledged as his tf/fs. Nothing.. Nada.

I think it is a bit harsh to judge a person whom you haven't even met in real life. If being honest felt like I was trying to be a wanna be I don't know what to say.

This is not related to the current topic of discussion of your asks so I hope you don’t mind me asking a random question. Do you think that Tumblr is a Jikook dominant app? Just by the amount of Jikook blogs and the number of likes/engagement they get, I feel like it is. I can’t be sure tho because I don’t have all the stats. In my opinion, I would say that most of the other social media sites are mainly Taekook dominated, although I’m not too sure for Reddit. Of course this is not competition or anything like that but I just found it interesting that Jikook are one of the more “popular” discussed ships on here. I wonder why that is? What does Tumblr have that attracted many Jikookers vs other ships? Do you have any thoughts on this, since you are more experienced with Tumblr? Do you think that I am perhaps wrong in my observations that Tumblr seems more Jikook-based? Why did you choose Tumblr as your main outlet to support Jikook? Anyways, I love your blog and I enjoy reading through the posts of how people came to find you!

Do you think tumblr is a jikook dominated app?

Again, sorry. No idea. I DO know there are also tons of blogs specifically for other ships. I've seen them. I've gone looking through some of them for specific events at times in regards to other duos or when one of yall sends me an ask about other shipper theories and then i gotta go deep dive into their spaces and figure out what the theories even are and why they exist. 😅 and on top of that, I'm following under 20 people here and some of those are book related blogs too. I also mostly stay out of the jikook tag unless I'm in the mood to deal with all that. So I'm possibly not the best person to answer this. I do also know that they were named in the top 10 tumblr ships of all time on tumblr in 2018. And they were only 1 of 2 real person ships on that list (I believe). What that looks like now? 🤷🏻‍♀️ nor can I speak for the stats of other sites.

I can't speak for others, but for me, it was mostly the character count and the ability to filter. Like I said above, I don't venture outside my dash page very often. So especially with my anons off, my tumblr experience is very drama free. While I block freely on Twitter and only follow a certain amount of people, the drama is easier to stumble across. On top of that, I CLEARLY like to talk and drone on and on. Tumblr allows me to do so a bit easier without character counts in a tweet limits. All that to say, I do have a Twitter account that I use, that I tweet about OT7, various duos and jikook on. I am mostly active in DMs on Twitter though talking to people/my moots.

Otherwise, I don't have too many thoughts over it. I never spent too much time considering the why's or how's. I think it's just that the frequency of drama is usually lower on this site than others if i had to make a guess. And if you let the anons on. You can block their whole IP address if they cross lines, not just their account. Lol thank you for the ask! Its an interesting topic to consider!

Basics

Mun is 30+, meaning this blog is 21+ only.

Muse =/= Mun and darker themes are not condoned irl.

Basic RP etiquette will be given and thus, expected in kind.

Drama is not tolerated. No callouts, no anon asks 'warning me' about people, and no vague posts. If I see you doing this shit I will soft block without question.

This doubles as an ask blog; you don't need an RP account to poke Vash. However: anon is a privilege and not a right and will be taken away if things escalate.

Activity/Interactions

Blog is decently moderate activity, though I have more spoons some days than others.

I am very selective, but not mutuals only. I give (most) everyone a chance but will not pursue interactions if I feel our writing/characters don't mesh.

Due to a recent incident, I am not interested in interacting with OC-only content/blogs unless they belong to friends. This includes following them or having them follow me. If you have canons, throw them at me first so I can get to know you. I will not budge on this.

Both kinds of bugs are good. I'm not SUPER familiar with starships (I've got the PDF somewhere cause a friend shared it with me, should reread that sometime...)? But, like thri-kreen are one of my favorite groups of more monsterous humanoids. They're just very interesting to me, personally, and I think it makes a lot of sense that it's difficult to communicate with them. The monster manual even talks about how they'll draw stuff out in the dirt to communicate easier and that those with psionic powers (which, by the way, are REALLY OP ACTUALLY???) have a greater emotional spectrum. I forget why exactly but I think it was an empathy thing? Kinda hard to avoide developing feelings when you're in other peoples heads all the time.

That said one of the traits I see in humanoids in general is that regardless of species/race/subrace whatever, each and every member has a capacity for free will and difference. There's not ever a 100% "these ones are evil" or "these ones are lawful" or whatever. It's not like with something like a devil, where they ARE LE in a very literal sense, like they can stop being LE but then they wouldn't be a devil anymore (and also not a fiend if they stopped being evil, since part of the creature type typically says that fiends are always evil and a non-even fiemd would become something else). Humanoids can be just whatever. Sure, a givem race might lean heavily into a given alignment, very heavily if influenced by powerful supernatural forces like that of demon lords and gods (such as is the case with orcs and our favorites here, the gnolls), but never, EVER 100%!

Dnd is so cool and I love it so much. And thri-kreen. And races in general.

I was a bit mean about the thri-kreen in that post, I'm sorry anon-- I do think they're interesting and have potential! I love bug people on principle. I also agree with you that the lore leaves room for creatures to be individuals, and that's nice.

What I find frustrating about the thri-kreen isn't that they're different from other humanoids; I love stories involving culture clash and communication barriers. It's that 5e can apparently only conceive of that difference as an absence: they don't emote or express themselves like other humanoids not because they have their own very different behaviors and cultural traditions, but because, in 5e's view, they don't have culture in the same way other humanoids do. According to the Forgotten Realms wiki, they "[view] themselves and other beings in terms of the relationship between predator and prey", and find it hard to "understand the advanced concepts or sophisticated social rules of other races." (oof.) They're said to have no distinctive personalities, they have no religion or other cultural traditions, they form no social attachments beyond immediate ones, they don't make art, and they see little value in things other cultures create. They're not alien so much as... uncomfortably, disappointingly animal.

Even the fact that the psychic ones can develop personalities and empathy only through contact with the minds of other races is awkward to me. The phrasing of the article seems to imply a binary conception of culture that I don't vibe with at all: that if a fantasy people don't have a culture similar to one the human audience would recognize, their culture must be unsophisticated, un-advanced, or altogether absent. I'm sure skilled, creative DMs and players could give the thri-kreen a lot of interesting depth, but I'm not a big fan of the raw lore about them, or its implications.

i do have some thoughts based on my own personal experience (i, in true citrine fashion, went full babble mode on this so that'll be under the cut!) but i think the tl;dr of it is have fun and be willing to experiment. (also if any of you lovely folks reading along at home want to drop your two cents in the replies or otherwise add to the conversation please feel free! i can only offer my perspective and i love hearing others)

first thing's first: starting an x readers blog!

right off the bat, my absolute most important advice is this: be gentle with yourself. you're trying something new. even if you've been writing your whole life and been on tumblr since it was founded, this is a new way to combine those things. new adventures have bumps and blocks and you'll have trial and error before you really find your way (and likely after you find your way, too!) and that is fine. take your time, try to enjoy the process, and be kind to yourself.

for me, a lot of finding my way- and i mean A Lot- was just looking at other imagines blogs and asking myself what i liked about them. for example, for me, i get inspired by angelz-dust's incredible dialogue and use of details in her writing, beautiful desktop theme, a super user friendly masterlist, and clear and concise rules page. i also love unmotivatedwrit3r's intro post with both masterlist and rules, grounded stories, and that their blog is super easy to navigate. (i could go on and on, but my point is, look at your favorite writers. why does their writing appeal to you? why does their blog appeal to you? how can you incorporate parts of how they run their blog into how you run yours (obviously without stealing other people's work, haha.))

shaping your blog takes time, but can be a really fun process if you let it!

some of the things i find most useful for my blog are a good desktop theme, a useful pinned post, a masterlist, a mobile masterlist, and a tagging system i'm very comfortable with.

(idk how tumblr savvy you are, anon, so if you would like advice on any of those things specifically please let me know!)

technical tidbits

something i've found super helpful as both a writer and a reader of imagines is when a fic has an intro. as an example, i'll use my fic cat. the section at the top tells the reader what they're getting into; in my case, i like to list any qualities i've written the reader with (in this case, the reader is not referred to by gender!) so the person reading knows if it's something they can relate to (or, if not, if it's something they're interested in anyway). i also include what character i'm writing about, how long the piece is, any fun facts or relevant information i think the audience should know (like thanking my darling angel for being my beta reader/enabler/cheerleader), and also any content warnings i think apply. in this case, i also linked the next chapter of the fic.

if the post is long, throw a read more/cut on there! (i do this for posts that are longer than 1000 words, but you can use any measurement.) it makes navigating your blog (and any tags you post in!) muchhhhh easier.

back up your work. no, seriously, save often, and save your fics in a secondary location. i use google docs, but you could use word, a private discord server, your notes app- just make sure to save it! and just a heads' up, tumblr drafts can be a bit of a gamble. i've had posts post themselves prematurely, posts disappear entirely, and formatting glitch. (also? be prepared to reformat your posts.)

(i also save drafts i hate or can't get to work. sometimes i find a way to recycle them later on!)

don't be afraid to use tags, but try to stick to relevant ones. tagging your fics with unrelated characters or fandoms is unlikely to get your work any extra attention- and if it does, it's not likely to be good. i use several different imagines tags (because people call imagines lots of different things- [character] imagine, [character] x reader, [character] x you, and [character] x y/n are my go to tags.).

i also find it really helpful to use consistent content warning tags (such as "fire cw" or "blood cw").

self reblogs are a great thing. i have a queue i maintain almost religiously, so i queue mine, but you don't have to! but don't be afraid to reblog your work. people follow you to read what you post, and they may not see it the first time around! (i usually post at night, reblog the following morning, and once again the following night.)

accepting requests.

disclaimer: requests aren't my main source of inspiration. i write from movies, music, things i see irl, my literal dreams- i say this because i've seen a lot of writers get discouraged by a lack of requests (especially early on) or frustrated because they can't complete requests as quickly as they'd like. i think it can be really refreshing to take a break from them occasionally and write from another source of inspiration, if you can.

that being said! to answer your actual question, the biggest suggestion i have is to set basic rules. if you are asking for requests, what are you willing to write? what's a hard no?

it's okay if those things take time to figure out- or if they change with time! but having some basics down can be a huge help for requesters.

also! you're more likely to get requests if you allow anonymous asks. (this was, last i checked, not allowed by default. i would recommend switching them on in your tumblr settings if you would like to take requests.)

You stared at yourself in the mirror, some days were better than others, but today, was a not so great day.

You swallowed back tears, all you wanted to do was crawl into a ball and hide away from the world, from everyone, even from him.

Bucky had never done anything but support you through your highest highs and lowest lows, but sometimes, you didn't want anyone's eyes on you, not even when they glimmered with so much love and adoration, your mind just couldn't seem to bare the thought of anyone seeing you.

A solid knock on the door pulled you from your thoughts.

"Doll?" His muffled voice called, you didn't want him to think you were avoiding him, so you sniffled away the rest of your tears, rapidly turning on the faucet to splash your face with some water.

You took a deep breath, "Just a minute!" You replied, your voice still shaky and recovering from your tears.

As you pulled the door open, his concerned eyes softened, but you turned quickly as to not meet his gaze. You knew if you looked into his eyes for another moment, you'd break down. He just cared for you so much.

"Doll, are you alright? I heard you..."

You cursed yourself, you should've just stayed in that bathroom. You found yourself crying even harder than before.

His cool hand found itself on your shoulder, rubbing calming circles into your skin.

Usually you would shy away from any person's touch when you were feeling so vulnerable, but Bucky had this incredible way of making you feel so at home in his arms.

"I'm sorry" You managed to sputter out between sobs, you looked up at him through your tears, and it was like you could actually hear his heart break.

"Baby, what's wrong?"

"Me... I just- It's nothing, just, I'm me, and sometimes I wish-"

"Don't you dare." His tone was stern, but somehow so gentle at the same time. "Did someone say something to you?"

You felt yourself get choked up again, and you nodded your head slowly, collapsing into his arms.

Bucky didn't want to pry now, though he made sure to make a mental note to get Steve on the case of helping him find out who had done this to you.

"Don't you dare blame yourself." He shook his head, trying to push his anger aside for the moment so he could properly comfort you. "I know I can't really say anything to you to take away what you think about yourself, I know that, but let me just talk okay?"

You sighed, smiling softly against him, he knew you so well, he knew how you'd protest his every word and try to tell him that everything is fine, even though you knew things weren't.

"You are the most beautiful human I have ever met in my entire life. And I've lived a lot of lifetimes." You both chuckled, "Inside and out, you're gorgeous. And nothing that anyone says to you is gonna change that about you. You're just so... kind. You give so much happiness to everyone around you, so much love... But you need to give yourself some of that to ya know? 'Cus you deserve it, more than anyone I know."

"Bucky..." You sighed, feeling your eyes fill with tears once again, though these were much happier.

"I'll always be with you, okay? No matter what. It doesn't matter what anyone says, I will always be here, and until you start giving yourself some more of that love you keep giving out to everyone, I'll love you for the both of us."

And as you looked up at him, as he stared back at you with so much love, you knew in your heart, he would keep his promise, no matter what.
